Humans are so full of water that we are like a walking ocean, but did you know that the water inside of us may be prematurely aging us too? Victor explains that this is because deuterium, a heavier form of hydrogen that has been proven to shorten lifespans, is found in most water. After researching deuterium's effects for decades and visiting communities where people drinking water without deuterium enjoyed a longer lifespan, Victor concludes that deuterium is key to aging and should even be classified as a disease. Those in the blue zone may encounter less deuterium, but it's their daily longevity habits that supercharge their ability to ward off its effects. Because they feel safe, not stressed, and have a strong sense of belonging, their parasympathetic nervous system tends to be more activated. Victor offers fascinating insights into quantum entanglement, water as a universal consciousness, and the intelligence of this amazing substance. He sheds light on deuterium's origin and how it came to play the role on earth that it does today. If you're interested in naturally boosting your energy levels, don't miss this episode. Marie Helene is a true innovator in the wellness space. We discuss Marie Helene's early years working in dolphin rebirthing therapy. Part of the healing comes from the environment of being in the water, which is like being in the womb. There are so many lessons communicated through nature that are not available in most normal modern environments. Wild environments truly bring wild experiences!Dolphins aren't always immediately available, of course, and we discuss an immediately accessible technique for reconnecting with nature called the sit spot. Reconnecting with nature is essential to reconnect with our essence. This is the path to aging with grace and part of Helene Marie's mission to re-educate people about aging. Instead of experiencing aging as approaching the end of life, it's the time when we can experience the most beautiful aspects of life and expand into who we've always wanted to be. Marie shares a powerful practice for redefining your purpose and bringing your real motivations to the surface so they can be celebrated or worked on. Attitude is everything when it comes to aging, and I hope this episode inspires you to lean into your age, whatever that may be!Special thanks to listener GabyUSA10 for their five-star review and tuning in each week!If you are enjoying these conversations, please subscribe and spread the love by leaving a review and sharing it with your friends.Listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, TuneIn, or on your favorite podcast platform. After catching up with my friend Amy Boyle recently, whom I've known since 2010, I felt compelled to share her full circle story and how it relates to a woman's lifecycle. Amy's story reminds me of how remarkable women are. At every stage, from mom to caregiver, from artist to teacher, from professional to being in service, women have the capacity to shapeshift to whatever situation presents at any given time. Amy vulnerably shares how the experience of caring for her mother as she prepared to transition became a treasured gift of service. Instead of halting her career or fighting what was happening, she simply allowed its trajectory to shapeshift. There's so much wisdom in allowing for life's great unfoldings. As a photographer, Amy recalls that the lens is an extension of her heart. Through it, she sees and captures the goodness, beauty, energy, and spark of the world. Her vision is contagious! She then walks us through how she decided to take a leap into journalism, first as a student and now as a teacher. The story of the courage and curiosity that runs through Amy's family, from her mother to her son, will warm your heart. Don't miss this positivity boost! My childhood friend and accomplished poet, Michelle Delaine Williams, joins me on Vitally You® to talk about her poetry chapbook, Good Work for Small Hands. Her book centers around her childhood in Missouri and her relationship with her mother. She shares that reflecting on those memories was profoundly cathartic, which really comes through in several of the poems she recites for us. Michelle's poem, Sprout, which she reads beautifully, transports the listener into a young person's world of feelings. Sprout invites a conversation about taking responsibility for our own lives no matter how they began. Since becoming a grandmother twice within the last 18 months, I've been thinking a lot about how we come into this world and the importance of our upbringing in shaping our future. Michelle's poems are portals to reconnecting with our younger selves and learning the ways that they wish to be present in our lives.Listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, TuneIn, or on your favorite podcast platform. Did you know that your “vibe” is a real, palpable thing? This week, I'm sharing how you can neutralize triggering emotions and calm your body when you feel anxious, stressed, and depleted using very simple science-backed breathing techniques.Your heart is so smart that it knows your feelings based on the vibration broadcast throughout your body. All feelings either fuel positive or negative charges in the body. How people experience you is through this vibration; the energy that is broadcast emanates from your heart rate variability. I share the story of how I first discovered this connection and how healing the heart has more to do with the mind and emotions. This ultimately led me to discover the HeartMath®️ Institute. Through HeartMath®,️ I discovered their scientific breathing techniques that taught me how to calm triggering emotions and restore coherence throughout my mind and body system. HeartMath® techniques neutralize triggering emotions during stressful periods, which will otherwise negatively impact your heart rate. This is important because the brain decides the next best action based on your heart rate. The techniques restore coherence between the heart and the brain rhythms by promoting positive emotional states such as appreciation, compassion, and gratitude. I then introduce the emotional compass, which illustrates how certain emotions impact the nervous system. This framework gives a deeper understanding of how, why, and when the brain releases either stress hormones or happy hormones. To encourage the happy hormones, I offer detailed instructions on how to perform three HeartMath®️ breathing techniques: Heart-Focused Breathing®, the Inner Ease®, and the Heart Lock-In®. Our nervous system can get stuck in flight, fight, or freeze, and can potentially compromise our health and immunity. I leave several questions for listeners to ask themselves to gain deeper insight into their own connection between heart and brain, as well as breath, body, and emotions. Taking leadership of your heart health is a key to longevity and vitality. In this episode, I provide a framework for heart health beyond the conventional model that is reliant upon medications. Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the U.S. and is the leading cause of death globally. The conventional model relies upon medications to manage blood pressure and cholesterol. If you are willing to take leadership over your heart health, lifestyle and stress management modalities can change the trajectory of your heart health. When it comes to taking lifelong blood pressure medications, my advice is to question if you want to be on medication for the rest of your life and alternatives for balancing blood pressure. that protocol. Research supports health coaching as a viable option to positively impact blood pressure without medication. I provide specific nutrient and mineral deficiencies to consider. Additionally, HeartMath® breathing techniques and LifeWave's light therapy patches support heart health. It's important to understand cholesterol beyond the traditional simplified labs that measure HDL, LDL, and the ratio between the two. In this episode, we take a deep dive into cholesterol and its role in healthy hormone production for peri and menopausal women. I introduce ApoB, which is an important marker if you have high LDL. ApoBis a protein that plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism and cardiovascular health. If ApoB levels are too high, statins may be prescribed. Stains block an enzyme in the liver called Coenzyme Q10. I then review the many potential and likely side effects of statins, again encouraging lifestyle shifts as an alternative.Lastly, I give my top tip for what to address first for heart disease or metabolic chaos and then wrap up with my three-part framework for a heart healthy lifestyle. A heartfelt thanks to listener cocofrosty7, who left the show a glowing review of Vitally You®: “Trailblazer in wellness, always ahead of the curve when it comes to wellness, and thought-provoking wisdom and guidance.” Your review is deeply appreciated, cocofrosty7, and all reviews as they help keep the podcast going. Do you recognize any patterns in your life? As a human being, I'm sure the answer is a resounding yes. When you find yourself defaulting to an unwanted pattern, you can choose to ignore it or do the work to clear it. In this episode, I unpack the deep connection between thoughts, beliefs, and actions, as well as what I do when I start reliving old patterns that don't serve me.In the past few months, I found myself believing that no one understands me, I don't have room in my personal life for my work, and that the people I love the most don't respect my career. The busy holiday season brought me back to the years when I was raising my children and supporting my husband's career. It's been a long time since these thoughts have come up, but it was an important reminder that life is about presence, not perfection. When I found myself feeling depleted and stagnant, I took an honest look at my sleep, nutrition, movement, and mindset. I leaned into the practices that have supported me in the past, such as doing my sunrise and sunset routines, getting on my Power Plate, and mirror gazing. Most importantly, when I felt resistance or constriction, I became really curious about it and worked to reframe the thoughts that would appear in those moments. Listen in to hear how you can cultivate space to release unconscious thought patterns and create a strategy to free yourself from the beliefs that hold you back. In today's episode, I discuss the emotional experiences that are magnified during the holidays and the extremes of navigating the healing process. I invite you to sit with me for a few moments while I lead a meditation to soothe emotional triggers and provide a pillow of support. It's a potent time of the year and I want to stick with you on this journey back to yourself. First, I guide you through how to find a comfortable position and begin to connect with your body. What does your breath feel like? Allow physical touch as you bring attention to all parts of yourself. From there, start to notice the sensations and vibrations throughout your electric body. Where do you feel tingling? When you bring attention to a part of your body, you can understand what's happening in that part of the body. This light body is your vital life force. As you are present in your light body, I share a visualization technique to encapsulate your earth body with a golden light. Then, slowly acknowledge an emotional trigger as you release it from the heart. Can your golden light flow into the heart, clearing energy with warmth and ease? You have the power to be present with your feelings and care for them.I'm thinking about you, the Vitally You community, with gratitude, respect, and compassion. No matter what you are going through, I hope you feel supported and held. Listen to this episode for a meditation that will guide you into a container of compassion. In today's episode, I share three coaching tips to help you thrive during the holidays and explore how these self-care strategies can raise energy, shift perspective, and promote healing. I also provide specific examples to help integrate these tips into your daily life beyond the holiday season.Tip #1: Give yourself permission to take timeouts when with extended family or during large gatherings. Carving out time for yourself will keep your energy tank properly refueled. I detail why I call these the “islands of respite.”Tip #2: Practice a 12-hour fast and be mindful that your daily habits include consuming protein, fiber, and fat. Also, make sure you're staying hydrated and properly digesting and eliminating. I illustrate how this allows the body to properly reset and heal throughout the day and night. Tip #3: Use the Freeze Frame five-step HeartMath technique to shift you from a triggered state to a state where you can heal. I share why this is a powerful tool to call upon our Higher Self and observe the beneficial shifts. Plus, I detail an exciting health tech startup called The Metapause that wants to change the menopause narrative and experience for women. I share how my own menopause story was related to my 2011 health crisis involving a pacemaker, various doctors, and learning the role of hormonal health beyond our physical structure. I want to invite you to evaluate every aspect of your life in support of an easier menopause transition and healing in a healthy way.Listen to this episode for three coaching tips to help you thrive during the holiday, plus information on an exciting new health tech startup that wants to change the menopause narrative. In this episode, I'm joined by Jane Christensen, a Master Herbalist and the CEO of Barlow Herbal Specialities. Jane shares the familial and intentional process of creating Barlow Herbal Specialities and the importance of trusting your body's ability to heal. When she began working with medical doctors to help integrate holistic care into the physical body, Jane saw the importance of sharing education with others. Jane explains the importance of herbs as a primary healing agency as a way to physically and emotionally detox. Jane illustrates the cultivation and powerful properties of herbs specific to Barlow Herbal including Lomatium, a broad-spectrum antimicrobial herb, and a Mushroom Power Blend containing reishi, chaga, shiitake, maitake, and turkey tail mushroom extracts. Plus, we discuss the relationship between plants and the body's capacity to heal and how herbs can teach us to trust our intuition. Spend Your Energy Wildly is the topic for Part 6, the final episode in our six-part book series. Gladys' teaching is that living well is a matter of learning how to steer your energy toward life. I recap the previous five lessons and illustrate how to receive the lessons and love from each moment. I share client stories and moments from my own life tied to the choice of expanding your energy wildly vs. wisely. I end the episode with Gladys' six-part practice on how to embrace and appreciate the gift of life. Gladys shares the decision to stop fighting at school in order to make connections. She had to redirect the energy and unconscious patterns created in her family with intention and purpose. We all have sovereignty over our energy. I share a moment from my life when my husband and I were inspired by families in our church to adopt children of our own. I discovered the capacity of both my light and darkness while raising five children, but I had the agency to expand and move toward light energy. I also illustrate Gladys' practice on how to embrace life with a series of questions for inquiry so life can grow and expand with you. Can you feel life's boundless energy moving throughout your body? This message is a reminder to embrace the wildness of life around you. Listen in to learn Glady's teachings as a stepping stone on the journey to a life well-lived. Thank you for joining me for this six-part series. I am honored to be with you. Please reach out. Thank you for joining me last week for Part 3 of my Six-Part Book Chat series. In this episode, we dive into Part 4 of the book around the topic that you are never truly alone. I share a framework for both soul and social connection and illustrate concepts from Gladys around the power of listening and embracing imperfection. I end the episode with Gladys' five-step practice for weaving the fabric of life together. At a recent Biohacking Congress, I had a conversation with someone built on mutual vulnerability. At that moment, I wasn't there to do most of the talking. I was there to simply listen. I share the need for both social and soul connections and two studies from Gladys' book on loneliness and adult development. In her book, Gladys writes about embracing imperfection. I detail how the birth of my 2nd grandchild was a chaotic, but incredibly powerful and connected time. I also share how living in proximity allows for more intimate connections to happen, and a story about my move to Chicago after living abroad. When we align with community, our life force is fueled. I illustrate Gladys' five-step practice for weaving the fabric of life together. This is a powerful message that serves as a reminder of the love around you. Thank you for joining me last week for Part 2 of my Six-Part Book Chat series. In this episode, we dive into Part 3 of the book where Gladys writes that love is more powerful than any medicine you can take. I share personal stories about love from my own upbringing and the greatest unconditional love story ever told. I end the episode with Gladys' Love Yourself Into Healing visualization practice to give space for love to trickle in. My “head start” in life wasn't in a wealthy or influential family. It was in love. When I experienced a family crisis while a freshman in college, I still knew that I was loved and valued. Even in feelings of loneliness, the love remained. I share the greatest love story ever told, Jesus, as a true model of unconditional love and our connection to Divine Source energy. Gladys writes that the power of love is undervalued and overlooked. Love has guided my own life, toward self-forgiveness and in release of rage. To illustrate the vibration of love, I tell Gladys' story about the Carlsbad Caves and how one small light can dispel the darkness. Love is what can breathe life into any emotionally helpless situation. I share Gladys' Love Yourself Into Healing visualization practice in honor of embracing the journey toward love. There is transformation when we can get quiet, listen, and be compassionate with ourselves. This is where we have dominion and power. Listen in to learn more about the wisdom and insight Gladys has to share with us. Let love be the trickle to guide you along the journey of life. Check in with your heart. Thank you for joining me last week for Part One of my Six-Part Book Chat series. In this episode, we dive into Part 2 of the book where Gladys writes about “the trickle” and three hindrances to confront in order to realign with life. I share how emotional pain is related to forgiveness and shame and the ways it can hold us hostage from our fullest range of life force energy. I end the episode with Gladys' movement practice for letting go and turning our attention back to love. During my marriage crisis, I aligned with the energy of my family to see the trickle moving through the flow of life and our commitment to our children. When we're in pain, we tend to stop moving, but in reality, movement is the solution to keep our energy system flowing. I share Gladys' specific practice with hand gestures to deal with blockages and alleviate emotional pain. In order to navigate the pain and find the trickle, we must move something in our life. For a true release in support of your life force, I share Gladys' process for letting go and letting energy flow. I recently used this process to work out my feelings about the U.S. medical system. I stretched, I danced, I pounded, I jumped — and I felt amazing. Listen in to learn more about the wisdom and insight Gladys has to share with us. Let movement guide and revitalize your life force energy. Is there something in your life that's asking to be moved? Thank you for joining me for part one of my Five-Part Book Chat series. In this episode, I share excerpts from Gladys about topics including longevity, the body's service to the soul, the feminine emotional compass, and looking at health from a whole-body, functional lens. I also share stories and experiences from my own life that have given me an understanding of how to live within our soul's purpose, filled with compassion, kindness, and patience. I have always believed that our health is deeper than the physical body, which is why I love the whole-body, functional medicine lens so much. Everything is woven together and connected to and through us, from the inside out. When the electrical conduction of my heart burned out, I learned how every experience teaches you something along the way. When things get messy and chaotic, Gladys calls it “turning towards life,” a time to find our life force and access our “juice.” I also share how I was recommended to go the pharmaceutical route during my health crisis and how all areas of our lives must be taken into consideration. For a life filled with true vitality and longevity, I illustrate Gladys' six-step system filled with wisdom for taking slow, gradual steps toward finding your juice. In today's postmodern digital age, the energies are moving rapidly. Are you feeling the speeding up of time? There is a groundswell of change in our world, and you may feel as if resolution is out of reach. But I'm here to share with you that everything is solvable. The growing tensions and precautions surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic have led to an inevitable lack of focus on our breathing. At this moment, observe how you are breathing. Is it shallow? Is it from the belly? Is it intentional? Most of us have become accustomed to shallow breathing, as a result of our innate flight-or-fight response that becomes triggered amidst dangerous situations. Join us on this week's episode as we speak to Francisco Kaiut about the restorative benefits of chronic pain and injuries, general aches and stiffness, as well as the aging body. He shares his method The Kaiut Method which he coined and discovered after conducting thorough research on health and wellness modalities. The Kaiut Method was born from Francisco's experience managing chronic pain from a shooting accident that occurred at the age of five. The experience changed his entire life trajectory, leading him to conduct a rigorous search for a treatment that could encourage individuals to move their joints whilst stimulating the mind-body connection. He is now a certified chiropractor and yoga master and has studied Cranial Sacral Therapy, Deep Tissue Massage Therapy as well as Polarity Theory in the UK. Join us on this week's episode as we harness our breath, learn how to decompress after a stressful day, and employ Francisco's unique yoga method!Listen to the episode on Simplecast, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, PlayerFM, or on your favorite podcast platform.Topics Covered:Stimulating the mind-body connectionLearning how to use The Kaiut MethodStrategies for relaxation and decompressionLearning how to harness the breath along with other parts of the bodyRe-discovering our inner balance centerResources Mentioned:The Kaiut MethodGuest Info:WebsiteInstagramSpecial Offer: For the first three months, one podcast reviewer will be selected each month to win a sleeve of Lifewave X39 Stem Cell Patches.
