Edition No131 | 18-04-2025 - A man who's been called Trump's spiritual advisor visited Ukraine and then seemed to have a revelation. 'Putin is pure evil', he pronounced in his verdict on Russia's war against Ukraine. Televangelist Pastor Mark Burns declared, "I now believe that supporting Ukraine is America first." He is now urging the US to send Kyiv more tanks, fighter jets, and air defence. This is a dramatic turnaround, because only last month, when Trump paused military aid to Ukraine, Pastor Mark Burns, backed the decision.Burns's dramatic shift in stance comes after a trip to Ukraine. There he witnessed the atrocities committed by Russia first-hand, visiting the site of a missile attack in Kryvyi Rih, which killed 20 people, including nine children.“Being on the ground in Ukraine has changed my opinion significantly.” Said Burns in an interview with The Kyiv Independent. “I am on record as being one of the staunch opponents of supporting Ukraine. But it took me being in Kyiv, being at Bucha, seeing the atrocities that have taken place, innocent lives being killed, executed.”----------Links: https://kyivindependent.com/supporting-ukraine-is-america-first-trumps-spiritual-advisor-pastor-mark-burns/https://www.dagens.com/news/trumps-spiritual-advisor-reverses-course-on-ukraine-calls-russia-pure-evil-after-visit/----------Easter Pysanky: Silicon Curtain - https://car4ukraine.com/campaigns/easter-pysanky-silicon-curtainCar for Ukraine has joined forces with a group of influencers, creators, and news observers during this special Easter season. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Nicaraguan government cancels Resurrection celebrations The Nicaraguan government is cancelling Resurrection week celebrations, and replacing them with their own events, reports International Christian Concern. Exiled Nicaraguan leader Felix Maradiaga explains that “The model that Sandinistas want to implement is very similar to that of China.”  The government “has a long history of trying to create a parallel church [and] of wanting to take possession of the symbols of faith.” Russians bombed Ukrainian city on Palm Sunday, kids' playground The Russian army bombed the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy on Palm Sunday, resulting in at least 34 citizens losing their lives, reports The Associated Press. Two children were among the dead. Last week, Russians bombed a children's playground in the city of Kryvyi Rih, killing twenty, nine of whom were children, reports the BBC. The United Nations calculates that over 12,600 Ukrainian civilians have been killed, and over 29,000 injured since the war started three years ago.  In addition, Reuters reports that Russia has dropped over 50,000 guided bombs on Ukraine since 2022. China has stopped exports of products for aerospace industry As the global trade war continues, China has stopped exporting certain products to America, including minerals and magnets used by the aerospace industry, automakers, aerospace manufacturers, and semiconductor companies. China's Ministry of Commerce has also issued regulations forbidding Chinese companies from doing business with a number of American companies. China's trade surplus with America jumped in March China's trade surplus exploded in March  — 12.4% year over year. China's trade surplus is the largest in the world, running around $1 trillion. Germany, Russia, and Saudi Arabia also lead the world in trade surpluses. China's surplus with the U.S. was up 4.5% in March, up 14% for India, up 11% for Africa, and up 17% for Vietnam.   The nation with the worst trade deficit is the United States -- running over $1.1 trillion, followed by the United Kingdom, India, France, and Turkey. Chinese students leaving U.S. universities Chinese students are leaving American universities. The official Chinese government's news service announced a 40% drop off of Chinese doctoral students at U.S colleges. Today, only 277,400 Chinese students are enrolled in U.S. higher education institutions which is down from 373,000 four years ago. Fewer Europeans traveling to United States Europeans are more reticent to travel to the United States. The numbers have dropped by 17% in March, year over year.  This represents the largest decline since the COVID-19 pandemic. More Gen Z men profess faith in Christ Here are more surprising numbers coming from the Barna Group. Since 2019, the percentage of Gen Z young men who profess to be committed to Jesus has increased by 19%.   Sadly, the metric is not improving for young women. Numbers remain “mostly flat in their commitment levels to Jesus.” Let's remember Paul's words in 1 Corinthians 16:22. “If anyone has no love for the Lord, let him be accursed. Our Lord, come!” United Kingdom bill would curtail home schooling The U.K. House of Lords has scheduled a second reading for an education bill that is set to curtail homeschooling. The law would require homeschooling parents to submit an extensive curriculum plan, along with other stipulations. Gold up; Nasdaq and Bitcoin down Gold continues its rise. Remarkably, it's value is now $3,200 per ounce, an increase in value of 16% since January 1st.   The Nasdaq is down 12% since the start of the year, hovering around 17,000 points. Bitcoin is down 9% since January at $85,000 per bitcoin.  Jair Bolsonaro survived 12-hour surgery after assassination attempt By the mercies of God, Brazil's previous president, Jair Bolsonaro survived a 12-hour-long surgery. This is his fifth medical intervention after a stabbing attack in 2018. His wife, Michelle, took to Instagram to announce that “the surgery concluded with success. My heart overflows with gratefulness for each one of you who have been praying.”  Michele's Instagram account describes herself as a servant of the Lord.  She writes, “Honor, glory, strength, and power to King Jesus!” Trump's powerful Christian message during Holy Week And finally, in one of the most explicit Christian messages ever issued by a world leader in our day, President Donald Trump issued a tribute to the Christian “holy week” on his Truth Social account. He wrote, “This Holy Week, Christians around the world remember the crucifixion of God's only Begotten Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And, on Easter Sunday, we celebrate His glorious Resurrection and proclaim, as Christians have done for nearly 2,000 years, ‘HE IS RISEN!' “Through the pain and sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross, we saw God's boundless love and devotion to all humanity and, in that moment of His Resurrection, history was forever changed with the promise of Everlasting Life. … “I want to wish Christians everywhere a happy and very blessed holiday. America is a nation of believers. We need God, we want God and, with His help, we will make our nation stronger, safer, greater, more prosperous, and more united than ever before.” Psalm 72:10-11 speaks of the king's Son, who rules, and is to be praised by all nations. The Scripture declares, “The kings of Tarshish and of the isles will bring presents; The kings of Sheba and Seba will offer gifts. Yes, all kings shall fall down before Him; All nations shall serve Him.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, April 15th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Subscribe for free by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.

Correspondent Scott Pelley interviews Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kryvyi Rih, his hometown, where last week nine children were killed on a playground in a missile attack. They discuss U.S. support for Ukraine, the state of the war, and the Oval Office dust up with the Trump administration.  Until President Donald Trump expressed interest in acquiring Greenland, the Danish-controlled territory had long been overlooked. Now, the world's largest island, home to a majority Indigenous Inuit population of 57,000 residents, has suddenly become a reluctant focal point in global geopolitics. Correspondent Jon Wertheim bundles up to explore the rich history and breathtaking landscapes of a bitingly cold region that has found itself at the center of a rapidly evolving hotspot. Something unusual is going on in Major League Baseball stadiums across the country this season, and it isn't traditional baseball.  Correspondent Lesley Stahl reports from Savannah, Georgia on the dancing, back-flipping, lip-syncing almost-baseball team, the Savannah Bananas.  They've created a new twist on the sport, which they call Banana Ball.  Among its rules: a 2-hour time limit; no bunting, walks, or mound visits; and if a fan catches a foul ball, it's an out.  Stahl meets Banana Ball's unorthodox, yellow-clad founder, Jesse Cole, and discovers the electric, circus-meets-sporting-event atmosphere that is selling out ballparks. There a festival for veterans was held during which they read their works and watched theatrical performances based  on their texts. Both days of a festival were completely packed. I helped organize the fest and brought several veterans there, including my friend who was injured by two mines, about whom I recently told you. At one of the performances was live musical accompaniment. A young woman played the piano wonderfully; she was completely passionate about the music. Literally, unveiling new meanings in the text with her playing.  And yesterday, she was killed in the center of her hometown. She became one of the 34 people who lost their lives during a missile strike on the center of Sumy. This is just one day and one city, one Russian terrorist attack. It's an immense pain, a terrible, endless horror. I have already lost count of a number of friends, acquaintances, and colleagues who have perished. Every day, someone from among them dies on the front line or in the read due to this insidious Russian terrorist attacks. And why is this unending? Because Putin and the rest of the Russians see that we will face no repercussions. No one will supply Ukraine with thousands of missiles and hundreds of tanks, nor will anyone provide the weaponry needed to avenge this detestable country properly. No one will completely cut off the channels through which the Russians still obtain the funds to continue the war. Moreover, they will negotiate cooperation and the restoration of diplomatic relations with the Russians.  Hey, Western enthusiasts of negotiating with thugs and murders, your diplomatic ties reek of the blood of innocent people. They reek of the blood of the pianist from Sumy, of a teacher from Dnipro of the children from Kryvyi Rih- blood paid with your money received through cooperation with Russia, and it's not your blood, but the blood of thousands of people killed all across Ukraine. And the fact that you continue to cooperate with the Russians, that you negotiate while they kill children, only inspires them to commit even more murders.  This cannot be forgiven. It cannot be forgotten. Living with this unbearable pain is difficult, but it must be done. We live in a very bad world, a world ruled by maniacs and self-obsessed fools. Yet, within our power, we can make it a little better even amidst this hell into which this cursed planet has now the descended. The main thing is not to give up.

He obtained a degree in law from the Kryvyi Rih Institute of Economics, but never practised law and pursued a career in comedy and entertainment. He created the production company Kvartal 95, which produced films, cartoons, and TV shows including the TV series Servant of the People, in which Zelenskyy played a fictional Ukrainian president. The series aired from 2015 to 2019 and was immensely popular. A political party with the same name as the TV show was created in March 2018 by employees of Kvartal 95.Zelenskyy announced his candidacy in the 2019 presidential election on the evening of 31 December 2018, alongside the New Year's Eve address of then-president Petro Poroshenko on the TV channel 1+1. A political outsider, he had already become one of the frontrunners in opinion polls for the election months before he formally declared his candidacy. He won the election with 73.23 percent of the vote in the second round, defeating Poroshenko in the biggest landslide in the history of Ukrainian presidential elections.Zelenskyy has positioned himself as an anti-establishment and anti-corruption figure. As president, he has been a proponent of e-government and of unity between the Ukrainian- and Russian-speaking parts of the country's population.: 11–13  His communication style makes extensive use of social media, particularly Instagram.: 7–10  His party won a landslide victory in the snap legislative election held shortly after his inauguration as president. During the first two years of his administration, Zelenskyy oversaw the lifting of legal immunity for members of parliament (the Verkhovna Rada), the country's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent economic recession, and some limited progress in tackling corruption in Ukraine. A poll in May 2021 by the Rating Group gave Zelenskyy the highest trust rating out of all Ukrainian presidents, and ranked him as the second-best president after Leonid Kuchma.During his presidential campaign, Zelenskyy promised to end Ukraine's protracted conflict with Russia, and he has attempted to engage in dialogue with Russian president Vladimir Putin. His administration faced an escalation of tensions with Russia in 2021, culminating in Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, which is still ongoing. Zelenskyy's strategy during the Russian military buildup was to calm the Ukrainian populace and assure the international community that Ukraine was not seeking to retaliate. He initially distanced himself from warnings of an imminent war, while also calling for security guarantees and military support from NATO to "withstand" the threat. When Russia launched its full-scale invasion, Zelenskyy remained in Kyiv, declining international offers to evacuate him from the capital under attack; he declared martial law across Ukraine and a general mobilisation of the armed forces. Zelenskyy was named the Time Person of the Year for 2022. He has frequently visited frontline and newly liberated areas, and has regularly appeared unshaven and wearing an olive-green, military-style shirt instead of a suit.Zelenskyy's term was originally scheduled to end in May 2024, but the ongoing Russian invasion and the resulting ongoing martial law prevented the regularly scheduled presidential election from being conducted. He is expected to remain president for the duration of the Russo-Ukrainian War. Due to this extension of his term, Zelenskyy is the second-longest serving president in Ukrainian history, after only Kuchma. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 01:47 UTC on Sunday, 2 March 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Jasmine.

Juliet, Tennessee, just 17 miles east of Nashville, reports The Christian Post. Zastrow told the judge he has tried to live his life “under the Lordship of Jesus Christ” and that “children are a blessing from God.” He closed with Revelation 5:11-14.  U.S. District Judge Aleta Trauger pointed to Zastrow's religious fervor as the problem in her sentencing. Zastrow was one of six pro-lifers arrested in March 2021. Five other pro-life activists, who blocked a Washington D.C. abortion mill in 2020 have been convicted and sentenced to 2-5 years in prison.  As Zastrow indicated, Psalm 127:3 and 5 indeed affirms that “Children are a heritage from the Lord. The attack consisted of at least forty missiles, one of which hit Ukraine's largest children's hospital in Kiev, reports CNN. The hospital was just half a mile from where The Worldview staff was staying. A total of 37 people were killed in yesterday's bombings, reports ABC News. French Parliament split three ways Political division is growing in France. The French election has split the parliament in three ways, reports Reuters. The  right now holds 142 seats, the center has 150 seats, and the leftist coalition has 178 seats.  Since the 2022 elections, the left grew by 36% and the right by 50% at the expense of the center. Iran elects moderate president Another surprise election result came down to the east of France. This time in the nation of Iran. The more moderate candidate, Masoud Pezeshkian, won the national election by a 16.3 million to 13.5 million vote count. The 69-year-old cardiac surgeon opposes the mandatory hijab or head covering for women, and advocates negotiations with the West on Iran's nuclear program. Real estate values skyrocketing in Europe and U.S. Real estate prices are up in European countries. Since 2010, the largest increases have occurred in Austria, Czech Republic, Portugal, and Germany, reports WolfStreet.com. Amazingly, prices for the average home have at least doubled since 2010. Here in the United States, the average price of a home has increased by 89% since 2010.  Hurricane Beryl slowed to Category 1 Cyclone in Texas Hurricane Beryl made landfall on Monday morning in Texas as a Category 1 cyclone.   Galveston, Houston, and Freeport were hit with 80-90 mph winds and ocean storm surges reached 7 feet at points.  The storm is headed into eastern Oklahoma and Arkansas.   Over a ten-day blitzkreig, the Category 5 hurricane did major damage in Jamaica and parts of Mexico, resulting in ten deaths. Presbyterian Church USA doubles down on perversion Last week, the Presbyterian Church USA doubled down on its affirmation of homosexuality, and its opposition to pastors who take the biblical stance on the subject. The resolution to “guarantee full participation and representation” of homosexuals and individuals attempting to change their gender in its worship and governance passed by a vote of 389 to 24.  John MacArthur: Biden is punishment for abandoning God Pastor John MacArthur told Breitbart News in a recent interview that God has given America up to “sexual immorality, homosexual immorality, and a reprobate mind.”   The pastor said that God has taken His hand of blessing off of this society, and “what you get is Joe Biden.”  MacArthur added, “The train is moving so fast down the direction of having been abandoned by God that unless there's a huge spiritual turnaround, there's no way to stop this.” He urged Christians to uphold righteousness in politics, but “to care a whole lot more about the Gospel.”   Romans 1:28 and 32 declares that “they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness. … who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same, but also approve of those who practice them.” Kansas court struck down ban on second-trimester abortions The State of Kansas is now a go-to state for abortion. Since 2020, the official number of child killings in the state is up 152%. At least 20,000 children lost their lives in Kansas last year by chemical and surgical killings. And, in a 5-1 decision, the Kansas Supreme Court struck down a ban on second-trimester abortions on Friday, reports The Associated Press. The high court argued that the state constitution guarantees total access to abortion. Any legislative restrictions would then be deemed unconstitutional. The only conservative on the court warned that the state is becoming known as “a legal regime of unrestricted access to abortion.” Jewish man shares how he trusted Jesus as Savior As Kevin Swanson travels and speaks abroad, I guest host for him today on Generations Radio. I interview Rich Flashman, a Jewish man who trusted Jesus Christ as Messiah. When he went off to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, an Evangelical Christian knocked on his dorm room door. FLASHMAN: “I got a knock on my door and I opened the door and a young man says,  'Hi, my name is Paul. I could talk to you about establishing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.” McMANUS: “Woah.” FLASHMAN: “'Well,' I said, ‘I'm sorry, Paul. I'm Jewish.' He goes, ‘That's okay. So was He.'” McMANUS: (laughs) “Did that surprise you?” FLASHMAN: “You know, I knew Jesus was Jewish, you know, but you know, it's just yeah. But I laughed when he said, like you. I invited him in. I invited my Jewish friends from down the hall as well to listen to him. And he shared the gospel sure that Jesus was the Jewish Messiah, He lived a perfect life. He taught on the kingdom of heaven, kingdom of God, that He suffered and died for our sins, and He rose again, and He gives new life to anyone who believes. “So I said, ‘Why do you think that? And he said, ‘It's an historic fact.' And I said, ‘Well, where's your historic data?' He said, ‘The Bible.' I said, ‘Come on, Paul -- oral tradition, human writing, you know, come on.' He goes, ‘No, the Bible is an historical document. Read it.'” Eventually, after reading Isaiah 53, a chapter that most Jews skip over, Flashman became convicted that Jesus was indeed the long-anticipated Messiah. Today, he leads the Manhattan branch of Chosen People Ministries, which has brought the Gospel to Jews for 130 years. Plus, we talked about their June 20th event held in Times Square in the Big Apple about opposing antisemitism, and how Christians can speak up for Israel and our Jewish neighbors. Listen to my 34-minute interview with Rich Flashman, a Jewish believer in Jesus at Generations.org/radio. That's Generations.org/radio. Republicans waters down their platform on abortion & marriage And finally, the Trump campaign has announced the Republican platform national committee has softened language on abortion and homosexual faux marriage, reports The Washington Stand as well as NBC News. The updated platform, entitled “America First: A Return to Common Sense,” will no longer define marriage as between “one man and one woman.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, July 9th, in the year of our Lord 2024. Print story 100 people shot in Chicago over 4th of July weekend The city of Chicago turned into a war zone of sorts over the Fourth of July weekend.  Tragically, 100 people were shot, resulting in 17 deaths, reports Breitbart. That's up 27% over the previous year.  Chicago, like all of Illinois, has a 72-hour waiting period on gun purchases, a red flag law, an “assault weapons” ban, a “high capacity” magazine ban, and a Firearm Owners Identification card requirement.

Daily News Brief by TRT World

*) Blinken to press Israel for 'immediate' truce in Gaza war US Secretary of State Antony Blinken heads to Israel to press for a truce in Gaza, ahead of a key UN Security Council vote on a US draft resolution calling for an "immediate" ceasefire. Israel's main backer the United States announced it would submit for a vote on Friday a draft to the Security Council on the need for an "immediate ceasefire as part of a hostage deal", after repeatedly using its veto power to block other similarly worded resolutions. *) UK, Australia call for ‘immediate cessation of fighting' in Gaza Britain and Australia declared the need for an "immediate cessation of fighting" in Gaza, as diplomatic pressure built on Israel to ditch a planned ground assault on the southern city of Rafah. After a meeting of Australian and UK foreign and defence ministers in Adelaide, Australia the allies stressed the "urgency of an immediate cessation of fighting in Gaza to allow aid to flow and hostages to be released". *) Trump faces backlash from US Jews over his remarks about Jewish voters Several members of the US Jewish community have expressed criticism towards former President Donald Trump following his recent comments, where he accused Jewish Democrats of being disloyal to their faith. Jonathan Sarna, an American Jewish history professor, highlighted that Trump's remarks are exacerbating tensions within the Jewish community. Sarna noted, "For people who hate Donald Trump in the Jewish community, certainly this statement will reinforce their sense that they don't want to have anything to do with him." *) Russian missile strikes damage power supply in Ukraine's Kharkiv About 15 blasts were heard in Ukraine's Kharkiv, mayor Ihor Terekhov said, and Russian missile strikes appeared to be targeting the city's power supplies, causing partial blackouts. Terekhov did not report any casualties. He said some of the city's water pumps had stopped because of the attacks. In central Ukraine, Kryvyi Rih mayor Oleksandr Vilkul said blasts were heard in the city, but provided no details. And finally… *) Oil prices decline amid potential Gaza ceasefire, dollar strength Oil prices slipped on the possibility of a nearing Gaza ceasefire that could ease geopolitical concerns in the Middle East, while a stronger dollar and faltering US gasoline demand also weighed on prices. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said he believed talks in Qatar could reach a Gaza ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. Brent crude futures fell by 0.5 percent to $85.36 a barrel, while US crude futures dropped 0.5 percent to $80.67/barrel. Both contracts are set to end the week little changed after rising more than 3 percent last week.

On today's show I have the pleasure of welcoming Ukrainian American author, speaker, and management consultant Oksana Kukurudza to talk about her book “Sunflowers Bend But Rarely Break” in which she shares what it was like for her Ukrainian parents' to live in Ukraine in the 20's and 30's, their journey from Nazi slave camps, liberation by the US Army, and finally settling as immigrants in the United States with their 12 children. Oksana was born in Rochester, NY and currently lives in New York City. She is a first generation American, born to Ukrainian immigrant parents, and is the youngest of twelve siblings. Oksana attended Boston University and Emory's Goizueta Business School, earning both a Bachelor's and Master's of Business Administration (MBA). Her specialty areas of both expertise and experience are public accounting and management consulting. Through her work, Oksana spent eighteen months in Ukraine and six months in Italy in the 1990s. During her time in Ukraine, she lived and worked in Kyiv but also worked in other cities across Ukraine such as L'viv, Kryvyi Rih. and Dnipro (Dnipropetrovsk at the time) witnessing first-hand Ukraine's difficult transition from communist Soviet Union to fledgling capitalist democracy.  Through her work and leisure, Oksana has traveled to over eighty countries, writing travel journals for her own personal consumption, collecting dear friends as well as words. Oksana recently collaborated on two business anthology books by Australian CEO and humanitarian, Cathy Dimarchos, entitled Going Against the Grain and Thinking Limitlessly. Ukraine today appeared to send another message to Moscow with a second drone attack targeting the same office building housing Russian government offices. Meanwhile, Russia's deadly attacks on Ukraine's civilians continue, including on Zelensky's hometown Kryvyi Rih. As the war grinds on, Vladimir Putin is digging in, introducing a new law which raises the maximum conscription age from 27 to 30, so large numbers of Russian men will now be available for combat.
