Inspired by civil rights and antiwar movements, students across the nation demanded a voice in their education by organizing sit-ins, walkouts, and strikes. From cities such as San Francisco and Chicago to smaller towns such as Jonesboro, Georgia, these young leaders fought for curricula that reflected their evolving worldviews. Saturday, 27 December 2025   But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. Matthew 15:18   “And those proceeding from the mouth, it comes from the heart, and those, it commonizes the man” (CG).   In the previous verse, Jesus gave the disciples a lesson in basic human physiology, something they should have thought through by themselves. Now, He uses that instruction to provide an example of what defiles a man, something foods do not do. He begins with, “And those proceeding from the mouth.”   Jesus turns the thought around. “Proceeding from the mouth” corresponds to “into the john it ejects.” Therefore, the source of what He is referring to will be different than the previous example. That is stated in the next words, “it comes from the heart.”   The meaning is that what enters the mouth is something external. It passes through the body and then is ejected. There was nothing defiling in the process. However, that which proceeds from the mouth, meaning that the words of man, come from within the man. Their source is the heart.   Remember that the heart in the Bible does not refer to the organ that pumps blood. It is only used figuratively for the place where moral preferences are derived. It is the biblical source of thoughts and feelings, of which Jesus next says, “and those, it commonizes the man.”   Here is a new word, koinoó, to make (or consider) profane. Thus, it is that which treats what is sacred as common or ordinary. To get the meaning, the adjective form is used this way in Acts 2 –   “Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common [koinos], 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.”   People are to be sacred, having been made in the image of God. However, man becomes commonized through what comes from his heart and the words that proceed from his mouth. Jesus will explain why this is so in the next two verses.   Life application: The heart is the inventor of wickedness in man. This is then turned into action as he is spurred on by what the heart has developed. As noted, Jesus will explain the various ways that this occurs. However, we can already consider how this process is realized in us.   The things we think are often not things we would actually act on. Further, we would not normally say the thoughts that well up in us. We have filters and checks that properly suppress such things.   At times, however, the filters may be lacking. We blurt out something that is caustic, and it causes damage to a relationship. Even if it was unintentional, what we have said is perceived to be the reality of what is going on inside of us by the recipient of our words.   Likewise, the checks on our words and actions are usually in place to keep us from acting in certain ways. However, if we are hungry, that can exacerbate our mood in a negative way. We become hangry, releasing our anger because the normal checks are blocked through our physical degradation. This can be true with a lack of sleep, high-pressure situations, etc.   We are still accountable for our words and actions, but there are reasons they occurred. When it happens, we regret what we have done, showing that it wasn't our intention to act in such ways. In an old Clint Eastwood movie, he said, “A man's got to know his limitations.”   When we feel we are reaching a point where we may do wrong, we need to work harder at limiting the inclinations that arise. We may also want to remove ourselves from whatever situation we are in. This will keep us from saying or doing something we will later regret.   Everyone responds to internal and external stresses differently. Therefore, it is up to us to carefully monitor ourselves and respond to those things that stress us.   Having said that, there are people who have no such limitations. They openly act on their inappropriate impulses. The problem with this is that it can become ordinary as others follow suit. Pretty soon, you are in full San Francisco mode, where the majority of the people openly act out perversions, illegalities, and harmful conduct towards self and others.   Once this happens, the society is set in a doom loop that is very hard to rectify. This is why the whole world had to be destroyed by the flood. It is also why the whole world will once again be destroyed by fire. Be sure not to follow the world. Rather, be like Noah, who remained righteous in a world full of iniquity.   Lord God, give us wisdom in how we should deal with our weaknesses and limitations. We all have them, and we all need to carefully monitor ourselves when faced with pressures and stresses that weaken us. Be with us and help us to always be fixed on You and what You would want us to do. Amen.

Let's get started.Lesley Logan 0:48  Hi, Be It babe. Well, it's the last Fuck Yeah Friday of 2025. It's not the last Fuck Yeah, Friday. We're gonna, we're gonna keep it going. It's gonna keep evolving, just like this podcast is and has been and, oh, my God, can't believe it. You know, we started the podcast in the middle of the year, so it's like, I don't even know how many years in where we are, but I was talking with my best friend about, like, guests I want to have on and ways I want to take this podcast, and I've been, while I'm on tour, been really percolating, like, what are the themes? What are the topics? Where do we want to go? I'd want to be it till we see it. Because it is a new year, and we have changed, and we've been being it, some of you been being it till we see it for years with me, which means that we have a new version of being it till we see it going on, like we have this other step that we're in. And so I want to hear from you. I want to hear the topics you want to know more about, the things that make you curious. If there's areas that you want to be it till you see, but you see but you need experts in that. I want to know so I can bring them on, because this podcast is also helping you be it till you see it. Podcast has truly helped me be it till I see it, and also required me to do it to almost, like, have to be it till I see it, because I have to come on here and tell you what I'm doing and evolve as well. And it's really, really forced me to, like, step into it, not just think about being it till I see it, but actually be it till I see it. So if you're new here, hi, it's a short episode. Listen to our long episodes, usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This month, we are doing a Habit Series. Because I really it's really important to me that you have this, these tools and the ways to make habits that actually stick. Something you can listen to it again and again and again. You're not just like, what was that episode? And trying to go back and listen to that one bit about it, you have a whole little series about it. So that series is wrapping up, and then we'll get back to our interviews. And we have a couple other series coming out. And if you have serious topics you want my opinion on, I want to share it with you. Lesley Logan 2:39  All right, so something that inspired me on the internet, I'm really excited about this one. We've had JillFit on the podcast. She was on an episode with Danny-J and she posted something a while back. In fact, as I look at the date, it's almost been a year, but I really like it, and I think it's a great way to end the year thing that's inspiring. So take what people say at face value, because trying to uncover uncover hidden meanings and ulterior motives, or trying to decipher passive aggressive behavior is a huge waste of time. Trust that grown-ass people will come to you if they have an issue, if they don't, keep living your life. One of my practices over the last several years is assuming I'm on good terms with everyone, unless I'm presented with a conversation that tells me otherwise, anything else is just fucking misery. And I've really, I'm kind of obsessed with this, right? I am someone who, if I accidentally offend somebody, right? And that's so easy to do these days, by the way, like, oh my God, I posted something that I just thought was fun. I didn't actually think of it as a like from the perspective of somebody who might have been having to do this, I was thinking of more like as just an observation of like, wow, look at how Pilates is everywhere. And most people are like, that's really cool. Oh, my God. And then like playing the game of what Pilates they see in the movement. And it hurt somebody who I really respects feelings. And I kind of, like, was like, oh, like, I didn't, like, how did she take it that way? That was clearly not my intention. Then it like plagued my mind, because I really don't like hurting anyone's feelings. I would, I don't hurt anyone's feelings and on purpose. And so if I've ever hurt yours, it is very unintentionally. And so I sat there for a second. I was like, hold on, you know, like, what's real here, you know, what? What am I? What was my intention? What was the impact? And I accepted responsibility for the impact that happened. That was not my intention, and I addressed what the intention was, and I thanked them for coming to me. And I was able to let it go, this is not the win. I'll have another win for you guys later on. But I love this, because that person did come to me, but a lot of people you know, don't, and sometimes, like, oh, they haven't texted back. Like, did I hurt their feelings? And we start to tell ourselves a story. And I love this JillFit, like, it's like, just assume, just like, move. Like, not even assume, because that's a terrible word. Just live in the world that like, if anyone has an issue with you, they're going to come tell you because they're grown-ass person. And if they are not going to tell you they're not a grown ass person, and dealing with their passive aggressiveness and trying to figure that out is fucking misery. Thank you, JillFit for giving us a phrase for that. So anyways, if you want to read that, it's in the show notes, the link to that thing. And I just love, love, love it. Lesley Logan 5:19  Okay, now let's bring up one of your wins. This is a good one. So Christine Eschen, she has been an Agency member for years, and she did eLevate with us several years ago. And I just love her, and she's so like sweet, and her lavender farm is amazing, and she said had a teacher for Balanced Body recent randomly reached out to me for a private. She lives in the San Francisco area, but has also has a home up near me. At first, I thought I'd be nervous to teach her, but then I thought about my comprehensive and my eLevate mentorship with with Lesley, so I did a little you are the only person who can do what you do. Before she showed up and just taught the body in front of me. She loved the session. Said she would be back the next time she came to the area. Thank you, LL, for your support in this community. Christine, thank you. But also, like, girl, you're the one that did it. You're the one that did it. You know, like, yes, you were in my mentorship program. Yes, I have been saying you are the only person who could do what you do the way that you do it for years. But you applied it. You be-ed it till you see-ed it. I don't think that's a word, but I'm making one, and, and thank you for celebrating it with us, because it means the world to us. And I think you just inspired a bunch of people. Lesley Logan 6:31  All right, my win. So as we come to an end of this year, like what I'm thinking about, you know, at the beginning of the year, I was like, what's your word? What's your word? What's your word? And I really was like, I like my I just want space. I want I want ease. I want ease. And every single month and quarter, I just kept asking myself, okay, how can I have more ease in this project? How can I do more of this? Okay, that didn't feel easeful. So what can we do for the next time? Just lots of I should have made the word for this year reflection, because it was a lot of reflection. And as I wrap this year up, and we're on tour and we're a month for my 43rd birthday, there's so many things to celebrate. We've had one of the best years we've ever had. We continue to grow. We have made, in doing that, we have made major changes to our businesses to make sure that we support the people around us without burning ourselves out. And you know, it's been a hard year. It's also been a crappy year. It's also been like a really mentally taxing, oh my God, like the fear I have every single day for the people who have less than me all the time. It's really hard. Like I really fear every day, and then I have to just show up and be it till I see it, because I can't fix that. I definitely can't have fix that without money and without time, right? Like so I have to do the things that I do, care about the people I care about, inspire people every single day so that I can fight for the rights of others, you know? So it's been, it's hard, and if you are nodding along with me, it's been a hard year. If you're an empathetic person, it's been a hard year. But also, as an empathetic person, I am looking back at this year and just really proud of myself. And one of the things that I'm excited to share with you, as a witness this, I am someone who has, like, suffered from FOMO my whole life. I've always, like, I never really felt like I belonged. So I, like, have like, this fear of, like, I didn't get invited to that thing. You know, I just had FOMO when I get invited to a lunch group or a birthday party or blah, blah, blah. And like, didn't get invited to a dance, like, just FOMO, FOMO, FOMO, which just created this person who, like, over-did over-showed up, over-said yes. And when the pandemic happened, we had this huge pause in our life, right? And it really let me see, like, whoa, I was going, like, there was just I was chewing too much, and I was really grateful. And then I, like, thought, I found then there was, like, the pendulum swang, where I was not doing too much, but I was traveling a lot less, so I could be really focused. And now the travel has picked up. And a few months ago, without fear, I was able to say to my team, I want to travel less. I want to say yes to less events that are not ours. And I was able to say that without fear of missing out. Without fear, like, oh my God, if I start saying no to these invites, am I going to have less of a space on this earth, right? And I hope that this one gives you some inspiration as well. Like, what are you going to use as a tool for doing a temp check on whether you should say yes or no. So we created one after I did that, so that we can evaluate whether something is a fuck yes or no, right, and it's not just monetary, it's a lot of things. And so after coming to that decision, and then, like, the win of not going, oh my God, I'm gonna let people down, like, I didn't have that, like, I just feel like I've like, like, I've really found the be it, in getting comfortable in what I can do, but I do really well and what I'm willing to do, and that's huge. And I can change my mind if I want to, but I am really, really proud that for the next couple of years we are going to say yes to less stuff, and we already closed next year's calendar, and we are only accepting a couple things for 2027 and something else that, of course, I would love to do, we're not doing till 2028 because the reality is, is that, like there's too, there's too many things to want to do, and to do them well, there needs to be space, and I know that from my year of reflection. Lesley Logan 10:46  So if you are going to have a word of the year for 2026 send it into the beitpod.com/questions I'd love to hear what it is. I'm someone who takes a long time. I think I'm better at like, discovering the theme of the year at the end of the year. But I also really implore you, is that the right word, implore you, to take some time to reflect on this year, what you liked, what you didn't like, what worked and what didn't work. And just because it didn't work doesn't mean you don't get to do it again, or don't get to make it and take another stab at it. But if something isn't working and you don't like it, what are the ways that you can use the habits that we've been talking about, the habits challenge, the habits, not challenge, but course, series, to help yourself unravel those things and create what you do want to have. That's what I want you to percolate on. Lesley Logan 11:37  And your affirmation, I love this one. I saw this a long time ago, and I saved it for you. You are not behind, you are on your own timeline, and it's perfect. You are not behind, you're on your own timeline, and it's perfect. Today on America in the Morning Christmas In America America celebrated Christmas Day, which included President Trump taking calls from kids on Christmas Eve, to kids across the nation finding gifts under the tree.  Around the world, it was the first Christmas for Pope Leo as Pontiff.   Severe California Weather Deaths Severe thunderstorms moved into California on Christmas Day, with areas north of San Francisco dealing with 70 mile per hour winds, and around Los Angeles, evacuations due to mudslides that buried some cars up to their windshields.  Lisa Dwyer reports that some areas received as much as 10 inches of rain, with rockslides, mudslides, and overflowing rivers washing out roads as California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency.   US Attacks ISIS In Nigeria President Donald Trump announced he authorized the launch of a “powerful and deadly strike” against alleged-Islamic State forces in Nigeria, after he spent weeks decrying the group for targeting Christians.    We Have A Winner There's one lucky person in the United States who decided to purchase a Powerball ticket at a Murphy USA gas station in the small town of Cabot, Arkansas, located just off Interstate 57 with population of 23 thousand 575.  Correspondent Donna Warder reports someone who went to that gas station in that town known for its strawberries is holding the only winning ticket in the Powerball $1 point 8 billion dollar jackpot.   Charity Concerns ‘Tis the season for giving gifts, but this year, charity seems to be both starting and ending at home.  Correspondent Julie Walker reports most US adults aren't making year-end charitable contributions, according to a new poll.   Missing Lobsters There were a number of disappointed people around Illinois and Minnesota who were planning on a lobster dinner for the holidays.  As Katie Clark reports, the FBI is looking into how a truckload of lobsters was hijacked on their way to the Midwest.     US Attacks ISIS In Nigeria The US has launched military strikes against alleged-ISIS positions in Nigeria, in an assault that President Trump called a reaction to ongoing attacks and murders by terrorists against the Christians.   Christmas Day Negotiations Ukrainian and US negotiators spent Christmas Day on the phone talking to end the ongoing war launched by Russia against Ukraine.  As John Stolnis reports from Washington, the talks were heralded by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “very good,” but comes as Russia turned down a holiday truce offer and fighting continued in Eastern Ukraine.  A Millionaire's Tax It's a state that currently doesn't have one, and for nearly a century, voters in the state of Washington have rejected establishing an income tax.  Now, with Washington State facing a mammoth projected $4 point 3 billion dollar deficit, the governor wants to try again – but only to tax people with seven-figure incomes.  Details on a proposed millionaire's tax from correspondent Rich Johnson in Seattle.   Alito's Response In an unusual move, Justice Samuel Alito criticized the Supreme Court's majority in a sharp dissent after the high court decided 6–3 to temporarily block President Trump from deploying the National Guard in Chicago.   Turkey Terror Attack Thwarted Overseas, the government in Turkey announced it has detained dozens of suspects allegedly planning attacks on non-Muslims during holiday events.  Correspondent Mike Hempen reports the Turkish government said the attacks were imminent and took immediate action.   Guardsmen Return The remains of two Iowa National Guard members killed in an attack in the Syrian desert were welcomed back to Des Moines. In this episode, Dennis is joined via Zoom by visual artist & production designer Nino Alicea whose larger-than-life installations Got Framed and Attabay's Treasure are currently on display in San Francisco's Embarcadero as part of the city's year-long Big Art Loop initiative. Nino talks about the inspiration for both pieces. Got Framed, with it's 91 roses, is inspired by his grandmother Rosemilia and Attabay's Treasure is a tribute to Nino's homeland of Puerto Rico and the challenges it face after Hurricane Maria. Both pieces, as well as several others, were initially created for Burning Man, where Nino has mounted several pieces over the last decade. Nino talks about the moment over ten years ago where, after a week at Burning Man, he pledged to himself that he would have an installation at next year's festival, even though he had little idea how he would pull that off. With the help of a small army of fellow artisans and at least on engineer, he did it...and he's been going back every year. Nino also talks about getting to create props for Ricky Martin's "All In" Las Vegas residency and world tour and how that opportunity came because he was in the right place at the right time and "just said yes" when the possibility was suggested to him. #673: Welcome to Greatest Hits Week – five days, five episodes from our vault, spelling out F-I-I-R-E. Today's second letter I stands for Investing. This episode originally aired in April 2022, but the framework remains one of the most practical guides we've shared for building wealth at any age. Nick Maggiulli joins us to reveal why most young investors obsess over the wrong metrics — and shares his Save-Invest Continuum that shows exactly when your savings beat your investment returns, and when that changes.  _____ When Nick Maggiulli was in his twenties, he spent countless hours obsessing over his investment portfolio – tweaking his asset allocation, running net worth projections, and building complex spreadsheets.  Meanwhile, he was blowing $100 every weekend partying in San Francisco. It took him years to realize the absurdity. His annual investment returns on his tiny $1,000 portfolio might earn him $100 – the same amount he'd spend in a single night out. Maggiulli joins us to explain why young investors focus on the wrong things and shares his framework for knowing when to prioritize saving versus investing.  He introduces the Save-Invest Continuum, which compares your expected annual savings against your expected investment returns.  When you're starting out, your ability to save dwarfs any investment gains. A $6,000 annual savings capacity beats a $100 investment return every time. We discuss the math behind saving 50 percent of future raises, not for guilt or deprivation, but to maintain lifestyle balance while building wealth.  This rule applies only to real raises above inflation. If you get a 3 percent raise during 3 percent inflation, you haven't actually gotten ahead. The conversation turns to unconventional income-producing assets. Beyond stocks and bonds, Maggiulli explores farmland investing, which offers returns uncorrelated with traditional markets.  He shares the story of someone who bought the royalty rights to Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind" for $190,000. The song earned $32,733 in royalties the previous year — an 11 percent return if that income stays constant. We examine why 85 to 90 percent of your portfolio should generate income through dividends, rent, interest, or business profits.  Maggiulli keeps his speculative investments — cryptocurrency, art, and individual stocks — under 10 percent of his net worth. He admits his two individual stock picks are down 60 to 70 percent, proving his own point about avoiding stock picking. The episode reveals that time remains your most important asset. Warren Buffett would likely trade his entire fortune — and go into debt — to be 35 again.  This perspective shapes every financial decision, from choosing income strategies to deciding between assets that merely appreciate versus those that pay you while you sleep.
