Musicians recount the strange and unexpected story behind the making of your favorite albums. Stephin Merritt set out to write a songbook's worth of material and record it in his bedroom in Manhattan with the help The Magnetic Fields. He never expected it would become an indie darling. The guys meet to discuss the final listener pick of the summer and touch on universal truth via zither. If you aren't familiar with these guys yet, you're jumping on the bandwagon at just the right time!Playlunch are a seven piece band from Melbourne who describe their music as 'bogan funk'.We're joined by Liam Bell, Austin Richards, Michael D'Emilio from the band to chat about their sophomore album 'Sex Ed', which has plenty of references to Australian culture. We chat about the rules of schoolyard handball, explain the term 'monkey grab', and get into the weeds of how a band with seven members can effectively create very good music which is funny at its core.We also play a round of Aussie nostalgia 'this or that'.Thanks for listening! Victor Puertas joins me on episode 142. Victor Puertas grew up just outside Barcelona, discovering the blues in his early teens, splitting his passion between harmonica and keyboards. At 18 he traveled to the US and had the chance to meet his idol, Gary Primich.Back home, Victor formed The Suitcase Brothers with his brother Santos, who had given him his very first harmonica at age 13. For over 27 years the duo have been exploring acoustic country blues, with their latest album, a tribute to Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, earning recognition from the Piedmont Blues Preservation Society.Victor continues to perform in the duo as well as with other bands, where he showcases his deep love of the blues.Links:The Suitcase Brothers: https://suitcasebrothers.com/The Suitcase Brothers albums on Bandcamp: https://suitcasebrothers.bandcamp.com/Victor Puertas & The Mellow Tones on Bandcamp: https://victorpuertasmellowtones.bandcamp.com/musicVideos:The Suitcase Brothers performing live at the FEN Festival, Berlin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EH6115tQ6WU&t=3sVictor Puertas & The Mellow Tones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oooYZqq_J7gHarpin' By The Sea workshop on Gary Primich: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kC63Zz-tDAEPlaying with Steve ‘West' Weston: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rCkKFRJOIM&list=RD3rCkKFRJOIMKonstantin Reinfeld at the Seoul International Harmonica Festival 2025: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yi73OEN_ZxIPodcast website:https://www.harmonicahappyhour.comDonations:If you want to make a voluntary donation to help support the running costs of the podcast then please use this link (or visit the podcast website link above):https://paypal.me/harmonicahappyhour?locale.x=en_GBSpotify Playlist: Also check out the Spotify Playlist, which contains most of the songs discussed in the podcast:https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5QC6RF2VTfs4iPuasJBqwT?si=M-j3IkiISeefhR7ybm9qIQPodcast sponsors:This podcast is sponsored by SEYDEL harmonicas - visit the oldest harmonica factory in the world at www.seydel1847.com or on Facebook or Instagram at SEYDEL HARMONICAS--------------------------------Blue Moon Harmonicas: https://bluemoonharmonicas.comSupport the show

Starting off the show is a live recording from a support set I did for Flowidus and Freaks & Geeks! It was a b2b with my friend Luke AKA Feed Hydra! I also played my brand new and very first dnb track ( Watch Me Walk Away ) at the end of the support set! At the time the song was un-released but it is now out! I speak a little bit about some support shows I have coming up and I also ran another world wide DJ comp and chose not one but THREE winners for this months show! ⚡️Like the Show? Lip Biter Sounds is back with another explosive ride through the underground, where house grooves, hypnotic mashups, and festival-ready edits collide. From the dreamy pulse of Children X Walking On A Dream (Ellison Hard Mashup) to Kristin Velvet's club-shaking Pump It Up, this mix wastes no time heating up the floor. Galoski's Move and Walker & Royce's collab with Dom Dolla raise the energy before Chris Lake, Sammy Virji, and RoRo drop the heavyweight anthem 925. The journey keeps pushing boundaries with Botteghi x Funk D's percussive NUEVAYoL, Argy and Lost Frequencies' emotional Summer Skies (Love To Cry), and a fiery OYB remix of Sofi Tukker & John Summit's Sun Came Up. Mochakk and Kwengface bring gritty edge with Legumes, while Solomun's rework of Waited All Night dives into deep late-night vibes. Highlights keep coming: SBTRKT's remix of Different, Calvin Harris' 2025 edit of Sweet Nothing, and Fred Again's heavyweight link-up with Skepta on Victory Lap. Lip Biter Sounds then claims its stamp with FLOYD WEST22's own We Own The Night — a track built to ignite. The set closes with peak-time fire: BIJOU & Datti's Mind Eraser, MK & Solardo's remix of Dior, the euphoric I'm Alive from STVNS & CHAN, a wild VIP flip of ABBA's Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, and finally, Marlon Hoffstadt & KI/KI's relentless Losing Control. This isn't just a mix — it's a statement. Bold, sweaty, and unapologetically high-octane. Welcome to Lip Biter Sounds. ⚡️Like the Show? Click the [Repost] ↻ button so more people can hear it!
