Brad elaborates on practical methods to harvest rainwater efficiently in urban settings, including the creation of basins, curb cuts, and the use of rain gardens. He shares his experiences from global travel, particularly from Zimbabwe and Saudi Arabia, which influenced his work and techniques. Brad also highlights the profound community and ecological benefits of rainwater harvesting, such as creating food forests, improving local climates, and revitalizing neighborhoods. Go to www.InsightGlobal.com/LearningLeader Guest: Blaine Anderson is a dating coach and matchmaker. She's helped more than 3,000 happy clients attract and build long-term relationships. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and she earned a deal with Mark Cuban on Shark Tank. Notes: Someone asked Charlie Munger… How do I get a great wife? Deserve one. The best way to find a good spouse is to deserve one, he often said. In business, this translates to working hard and behaving with integrity consistently over time. “To get what you want, you have to deserve what you want.” What is the #1 reason you don't get a second date? You talk about yourself too much. When you go out to eat with someone, what percentage of the time are you talking? Aim to talk 30% and listen 70%. The reason we don't get the second date or the follow-up meeting with the prospect is because we are talking too much. Pull conversational threads: Avoid rapid-fire questioning by following up on answers with related questions. Share brief personal connections to create dialogue rather than interrogation. "You want to pull the conversational thread... ask a follow-up question about that same thing. That's where you can start having a conversation." Marketing your trajectory matters: People want to know you're going places. Share your goals, dreams, and aspirations authentically to demonstrate upward momentum. "You want to find the balance of sharing things about yourself that indicate you are on an upward trajectory... from a place of getting to know one another." Nice guys need boundaries: Being overly accommodating to people you barely know signals weakness. Hold boundaries and don't put others before yourself too quickly. "The general problem with the nice guy is he's putting other people before himself, including people he doesn't know very well." Confidence must be genuine: Authentic confidence comes from actually becoming confident through mastery, not just faking body language. Get genuinely good at something. "You have to become that... get really good at something... picking something in your life and getting really good at it is gonna help you build confidence." Don't rush to the close: Whether in dating or sales, focus on building connection and trust before asking for commitment. The close is the period at the end of a long sentence. "If you approach a woman or you approach a deal and you're just trying to get to the final step... you're going to rush through a lot of the important and essential steps." High-value people are in demand: Present yourself as someone others want to be around. People are naturally drawn to those who appear sought-after by others. "We want the thing that's in demand. We want the thing that other humans recognize as high value." Genuine curiosity creates connection: Being authentically interested in others' experiences is a powerful form of respect and love. Ask questions that take conversations deeper. "Your underlying emotion is important... becoming a genuinely curious person who is interested in meeting another human." Physical fitness affects confidence: Looking and feeling good about yourself impacts how you show up in every interaction. Invest in your physical health. "You gotta feel good about how you look... who wants to partner up with a slug? Nobody." "You should always be dating your partner, whether it's your first date, your 40th date, or you've been married for 40 years."' "The close is the period at the end of a very long sentence." "Deserve one." - Charlie Munger's advice on getting a great spouse Women want 3 things - social status, to be desired, flirty/fun… They want an optimist. If things aren't going well, look in the mirror. Take accountability. Her Twitter profile picture. Show the whites of your eyes. Smile. She has two tattoos. Omega is her middle name. Cactus for Tucson, AZ. How to build genuine confidence? Get good at something. Become an expert. Work really really hard. Be in great physical shape. It's hard to be confident if you don't like how you look. Sounds harsh, but it's true. Confidence comes from evidence. Create some evidence for youself by consistently working hard and getting great at something. That confidence will ooze out of you wherever you go. Shark Tank. Scary, anxious, nervous. Did a deal with Mark Cuban. Advice - If you're building a business, listen to what your customers want. What does your ideal client want? Build that.
Driving the popular Mazda CX-5 SUV today, Mazda’s top seller, it’s been around along time in ten models, a mix of petrol and diesel and front or all-wheel drive. Nohybrid but I’m told its coming. I drove the second tier 2.5-litre six-speed automaticCX-5 Maxx Sport front wheel drive - $43,184 drive-away, which included optionalSoul Red Chrystal Metallic paint at $795. A colour that has in many ways becomea trademark of Mazda. The CX-5 a good looker, still our fourth best-sellingmedium SUV, behind Toyota’s RAV4 and getting some strong competition thesedays from Kia’s Sportage and Hyundai’s Tuscon. I did nearly 900km in urban andcountry driving and it really surprised - well sorted, extremely comfortable forfour adults – the Maxx Sport well specified apart from the lack of wireless phonecharging and a power rear door. But it has dual zone air-conditioning with rearoutlets, a welcome head up display, a rather small 8-inch display screen on thedash but just so safe to use with a rotary dialer to let you scroll through a menu –so much safer than many of the new Chinese SUV’s with their large touchscreensand no active buttons. Hello Ask the Trade Pros fans! We are taking a hiatus on new content for the month of July, so please enjoy this episode from the archives. We'll be back in August with new episodes! In January 2025, the HVAC industry will officially begin its transition to the use of A2L, a different class of refrigerants, in all new systems. And what will this transition mean to homeowners over the next several years? In this episode, we demystify A2L, talk through some of the changes that will accompany this transition, and highlight some of the pros and cons for homeowners. If you have a question you'd like us to answer, we want to hear from you! In today's episode of Backpacker Radio, presented by The Trek, brought to you by LMNT, we are joined by Leah Harman, known on trail as Twig. Although Twig is relatively new to the world of thru-hiking, with less than 10 years of experience, she's hit the ground running, accruing well over 10,000 miles in the process. In addition to all the usual suspects, triple crown trails, Colorado Trail, TA, Arizona Trail…Twig has also completed a number of lesser known trails, including the Mogollon Rim Trail, Bigfoot Trail, and a Desert Winter Thru-Hike from Tucson to San Diego. We of course learn all about these treks, why cows are the most dangerous animal on trail, and how she makes her perpetual hiker trash lifestyle work. Leah also recounts her past life living and working aboard ships, confirming that all the stereotypes about drunk and horny sailors are, in fact, hilariously accurate, complete with some entertaining hazing stories. We wrap the show with news of a group who trusted ChatGPT to plan their hike, and how that went terribly wrong, Chaunce details the stress associated with planning a wedding, and the triple crown of movie/tv shows that broke us. In Part 2 of our captivating four-part conversation with LPGA star and major champion Donna Andrews, we dive into the early years of her professional journey and the pivotal moments that defined her rise on tour. From navigating the road in a trusty conversion van with an atlas at her side to staying with host families across the country, Donna shares a vivid portrait of what life was like as a young pro in the pre-GPS era.We explore the grind of rookie life, the lessons learned from traveling, qualifying, and adjusting to life on the LPGA Tour—and then we follow Donna as she breaks through for her first win at the 1993 Ping Cellular One Championship in Portland. She walks us shot-by-shot through that memorable week at Columbia Edgewater and relives the nerves, the fighter jets overhead, and the broken window that helped ease her tension en route to victory. Her momentum builds as she quickly validates her breakthrough with a second win in Tucson just months later, then rides that confidence into her career-defining triumph at the 1994 Nabisco Dinah Shore. Donna candidly recounts the drama of that Sunday showdown with Dame Laura Davies, the wrong club that nearly derailed her, and the clutch putt that sealed her first major title. And yes—she tells the story behind restarting the now-iconic tradition of jumping into Poppie's Pond. With warmth, humor, and deep insight, Donna reveals how her belief in herself evolved, how friendships and rivalries shaped her, and how the unique spirit of women's golf in the 1990s continues to resonate today. This episode is a must-listen for fans of the LPGA, major championship lore, and the timeless stories that define the game.Give Bruce & Mike some feedback via Text.Support the showFollow our show and/or leave a review/rating on: Our Website https://www.forethegoodofthegame.com/reviews/new/ Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fore-the-good-of-the-game/id1562581853 Spotify Podcasts https://open.spotify.com/show/0XSuVGjwQg6bm78COkIhZO?si=b4c9d47ea8b24b2d About "FORE the Good of the Game” is a golf podcast featuring interviews with World Golf Hall of Fame members, winners of major championships and other people of influence in and around the game of golf. Bryan joins the podcast to discuss founding Aligned Hospitality, the meaning behind the brand, technology in hospitality, improving the guest experience, and much more. Tune in now. Ryan Embree: Welcome to Suite Spot, where hoteliers check in, and we check out what's trending in hotel marketing. I'm your host, Ryan Embree. Hello everyone. Welcome to another episode of The Suite Spot. This is your host, Ryan Embree, with another edition of our TMG Hospitality Trailblazers series. This episode we head west to bring in my next guest from Aligned Hospitality, Brian Tubaugh, founder, and CEO. Thank you so much, Brian, for being on the Suite Spot. Bryan Tubaugh: Hey, Brian, I appreciate it and glad to be here. Ryan Embree: Yeah, exciting. We're gonna talk all about Aligned Hospitality. Talk about the journey where you guys are, you guys have seen some explosive growth, which we're gonna talk about, but first, since it's your first time, love to get people's background stories journey. What ultimately led you to Aligned Hospitality, but founding Aligned Hospitality as well. Yeah, absolutely. I'm one of the I guess, rare breeds. I grew up in the industry. Both my parents, were both general managers. Both of them started in the hospitality industry, line level, housekeepers, bellman, and then, you know, the typical hospitality love story fell in love, one became a front office manager. The other became a GM. Then they started traveling and they had me. So, yeah, so both my parents were in the industry. I, to be honest with you, it's all I've known. It's, you know, all I choose to know. Anytime I try to take away or get away from the industry, it brought me back. So yeah, so I was born into it. And then my business partner, Helinda, my mother, she raised me, my parents divorced. She raised me in Tucson, Arizona, where, you know, our headquarters is still at Tucson and Phoenix. And so, yeah, so we just I grew up in the industry. I started off in operations with Hilton. Went that route, started in housekeeping at 14. We won't tell people that though. So I was a houseman summer job. It was an exterior corridor hotel. So I got to feel that $120 heat. And, yeah, I mean, quickly worked my way up to the front desk. And you know, I may have had some back push on that help as my mom was the general manager at the property. And then the fun part of the whole story, the twist was when I was 18, I had an HR director at the DoubleTree that I was working at. It was a full service, DoubleTree. And the HR director called me into his office. I'll never forget him, love him to death, Eduardo. And he said, Hey, Brian, do you like this industry? I said, well, yeah. I mean, is there anything else in the world? And he said, well, if you like it and you love it, you need to leave Hilton. And I was like, whoa, did I do something wrong? I mean, I, I love Hilton. I'm at a double tree. This is what I've known. I eat a cookie a day. Like, you know, what, why? And, you know, and he kind of looked at me and he said, listen, because of who your parents are, you're never gonna be able to progress in your career. And you're never gonna be able to take that next step because everybody will know you as Rick and Helenda's son. And if you truly want to make your own staple in this industry, then you need to, you need to, you need to move on. And, I tell that story too, and I'll tell you where that leads, but I tell that story because I do think that's a gap nowadays in our industry, is that that mentorship, that line level to that middle management to management, right? We go rockstar front desk. You're now a general manager. Figure it out. So anyway, so he shipped me out. I found Starwood at that point. The four Points by Sheraton. I became an SRSA, I don't know if you remember that position. Sales Reporting Systems analyst.

On this episode of Mormonish Podcast, Rebecca and Landon are joined by former LDS missionary, Tanner Talbot as we take a deep dive into the Arizona Tucson Mission circa 2016. Tanner was the 54th missionary to be sent home by the mission president, who had been serving for only 21 months at the time. This alarmingly high rate of missionary turnover reveals a darker underside to what was occurring. Tanner discusses how missionaries already struggling with mental health broke under the pressure of the strict programs being implemented turning the mission into anarchy. Attempted murder, self-harm, sexual predators to minors, sexual assault, theft, destruction of property, assault and battery, and more were happening by missionaries in the Arizona Tucson Mission. Most instances seemed like they were left unpunished and were quietly swept away.
