We are all overdue to share some amusing celebrity impressions so witness the shitshow where Cam, Mike & James all go ballistic with their many celeb and politician impressions. They include: Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Hugh Hefner, Richard Nixon, Liam Neeson, Norm McDonald & Al Pacino! We then (unexpectedly) conclude with an impression of Allan Sherman, George Takei & Cookie Monster starring in Cruising: The Musical. I wish I was making that up!
We were in actual tears by the end of this episode. Kel takes us back to 1960 on the remote island of Hydra, where singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen first met and fell in love with Marianne Ihlen, a young mother from Norway. Although their paths didn't stay aligned forever, Leonard and Marianne never quite forgot each other– even in their very last days. Whether you're unfamiliar with Leonard's music (although everyone knows ‘Hallelujah') or a die-hard Cohen fan, there's a lot to learn from Leonard and Marianne's relationship. But first, Kel makes Mel and Kaitlyn correctly differentiate Leonard Cohen, Dustin Hoffman, and Al Pacino in a lineup. Later, she has a random rant about the Boygenius song “Leonard Cohen.” And we end it with a good cry… “It's time to laugh and cry, and cry and laugh about it all again.” Mentioned in Episode: Leonard Cohen, Dustin Hoffman, or Al Pacino? ***** This is a teaser for a bonus episode— the full episode is 2 hr 59 minutes long! Slaba usluga žanru in usodi Emme Schmidt, skratka. Recenzijo je napisal Gorazd Trušnovec, bere Maja Moll.
In this special episode of Ojai Talk of the Town, we sit down with the luminous Kitty Winn — award-winning actor, devoted mother, and granddaughter of Gen. George C. Marshall — to trace a remarkable life lived on her own terms. After winning Best Actress at Cannes for her raw, unforgettable performance in The Panic in Needle Park alongside Al Pacino, and stepping into horror history as Sharon in The Exorcist, Kitty stepped away from the spotlight to raise her family. Now a cherished member of the Ojai community, Kitty shares stories from her family's extraordinary legacy, including her grandmother's rebellious stint with a traveling Shakespeare troupe in the early 1900s. We explore Kitty's deep commitment to nurturing young artists through the Ojai Film Society's Student Film Contest, her thoughts on acting, legacy, and why she's chosen to make Ojai her stage today. We talked about Kitty's early years in India with her military father, Gen. Marshall's challenges in both World Wars, his post-war importance and much more. We did not talk about Instagram flexibility gurus, Brad Pitt in Formula One or Edward Gibbon's Decline & Fall of the Roman Empire. It's a graceful, insightful conversation with a woman who continues to inspire — quietly, steadily, and with uncommon elegance. You can read more about this remarkable woman in Mark Lewis' story in the Ojai Quarterly archives at https://www.ojaihub.com/winns-circle/

After Rick talked about Dick Tracy with Maz earlier this year to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the movie, Sarah Says gave him a call to let him know that it is one of her five favorite movies of all-time. Of course, we have to hear from Sarah Says about this movie if she loves it so much.
We present our Ocean's Trilogy review!Ocean's is a series of heist films. Beginning with the 1960 Rat Pack film Ocean's 11, the series has seen mixed to favorable critical reception and substantial commercial success. By Any Means Necessary: Spike Lee & The Making of Malcolm X Cinema can change attitudes, englighten ignorance, strengthen understanding and faith. In 1992 director Spike Lee would partner with star Denzel Washington and long-time cinematographer (and NYU schoolmate) Ernest Dickerson to bring to the big screen the life of one of the most important firgures of the 20th Century, Malcolm Little to become "Red" to become Malcolm X, to become el-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz. In an expansive narrative that covers over four decades and - could be argued - encapsulates the experience of Black life in the history of the United States, Spike Lee's Academy Award ignored film (save Denzel Washington's Best Actor Nomination that was lost to Al Pacino for Scent of a Woman) is certainly one of the great artistic, social, and political achievements of the 20th Century. What started out as a reflection on this thirty-three year old film quickly revealed itself as a subject that would demand two episodes to truly understand Lee, Washington, and Dickerson's masterpiece. This week Mr. Chavez & I dive into the history of the films production (a 27 year odyssey that would see a change of directors, misunderstanding, financial complications, and controversy within the Black Community). This discussion took us to some emotional and thought-provoking places. We are honored to share this with you. As always we can be reached at gondoramos@yahoo.com. Many Thanks. Send us a textSPECIAL NOTE: SEASON 15 OF THE GOOD, THE POD AND THE UGLY CELEBRATES THE USE OF THE PRACTICAL AND DIGITAL EFFECT KNOWN AS THE SQUIB. IRL GUN VIOLENCE IS INTOLERABLE AND RENOUNCED BUT... CINEMATIC VIOLENCE WILL BE CELEBRATED IN A WAY WILL DISTURB SOME LISTENERS. Season 15's temporal pincer movement is inverted with this week's pairing to present its earlier film first. So, one week early, we present to you SCARFACE (1983) with returning guest Erik Van Der Wolf from the Blood & Popcorn podcast filling in for Jack who had a boat to catch. After last week's meager showing with First Blood, we return to the blood-filled squib in full force in a movie whose violent reputation Erik disputes, taking a chainsaw to arguments by contemporary critics and noting the various cutaways and reaction shows in lieu of direct onscreen violence. He also makes a case that director Brian De Palma shows uncharacteristic restraint in camera flourishes. What's unrestrained— agreed then and now—is the profanity, clocked at 1.32/minute “f's” given, timed by some film nerd and diligently regurgitated by one of your chin beard hosts who watched the Blu-ray commentary. Typically, we make a halfhearted attempt here in the show notes for a plot recap, but we all know the story of Scarface who's got his word and his balls. This 1980's remake marks a rare confluence of film and actual contemporary events as its Scarface, aka cocaine cowboy Tony Montana played by Al Pacino, is a Cuban refugee, mapping the original immigrant story of the 1932 movie onto real Florida violence. The film is also credited as giving Michelle Pfiefer her breakout role (if one discounts Grease II) in portraying coke whore arm candy. And actual Cuban immigrant and total hottie Steven Bauer plays Montana's bestie (and friend's sister-fucker) Manny Ray. Blood packets explode during a hotel drug deal gone wrong and again when Montana promotes himself over his boss's dead body and then again when given cocaine super powers at the end of the film as Scarface holds off a mercenary army of hitmen, but surprising no squib explodes when Montana shoots Ray in a fit of rage for what could be interpreted as incestual cockblocking. But you knew the plot already. Listen as adult boys who grew up in the VHS era (and Thomas) discuss a film that guest Erik loves and the others find a lesser entry in the De Palma 80s filmography. Guest Erik brings a reread of the Oliver Stone screenplay and filmic muscle memory to recite scenes from the formative flick; Ryan stays bullish on the original black and white gangster picture (and on the film Two of a Kind, the 1983 feature that reunited John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John after Grease I), mainly wishing the De Palma film was closer to the original film's runtime; Ken warms to the film and to Erik; and Thomas might have an opinion after his first watch but is more interested in the sequel videogame for the PS2 and prequel novels by comic book and erotic vampire author L.A. Banks. Next week, Jack returns to discuss the school shooter film Elephant. A Quiet Place to Kill (aka Paranoia) was the third collaboration between Golden Globe winning American actress Caroll Baker and Italian horror and thriller filmmaker Umberto Lenzi. Baker, disillusioned by the American studio system, moved to Europe in the late 60's with her family and formed a working relationship with Lenzi that spanned four films. In this one she plays Helen, a race car driver reunited with her ex-husband and his new wife -- marital intrugue and a murder plot ensue. Starring with Baker in the Italian/Spanish co-production are Jean Sorel, Anna Proclemer, and Marina Coffa. Dan and Vicky get a little political at the top of the podcast but then turn quickly to some recently seen - The Life of Chuck, The Materialists, Al Pacino starring possession film The Ritual, Hitchcock's 1939 film Jamaica Inn, 1982's Vice Squad, and the Aussie film Dangerous Animals. Adam kicks off the show by reminiscing about his co-starring role in Wreck-It Ralph and the surprising reaction it still gets from fans. He then unveils yet another classic Al Pacino scene, this time with Jay Mohr putting his own spin on the character—proving once again that Pacino impressions never get old. From there, Adam riffs on coaster weight, the gnarly side effects of Niacin, Biden's cancer diagnosis, the sheer brilliance of pit crews, and the fine line between first and last place—not just in racing, but in life. Next, Jay Chandrasekhar joins the show and dives into:The universal boyhood obsession with foot speed (because being the fastest kid on the playground is basically royalty). His journey through comedy as an Indian kid in grade school, dealing with stereotypes and British influence over India. The decision to cast himself in movies and TV shows instead of waiting for Hollywood (considering the only Indian "stars" he saw were Fisher Stevens and Peter Sellers in brownface). The hilariously awkward story of wearing his wife's underpants (sometimes you just gotta improvise). Why comedy films should be communal experiences—because laughing alone just isn't the same.Jay and Adam also break down the realities of directing low-budget movies vs. TV shows, and Jay introduces his new app, VouchVault, which he swears will revolutionize review sites and help him finally get revenge on Rotten Tomatoes. They wrap up their chat by agreeing that seeing Phish live is overrated, and Jay shares his comedic influences: John Landis, Eddie Murphy, and Richard Pryor. Naturally, both Jay and Adam declare Spinal Tap the greatest comedy of all time. Jason "Mayhem" Miller joins the show and kicks off the news with a must-see clip of Adam singing "Big Bottoms" with John Popper. From there, the trio dives into the top stories of the day, including:Joe Biden's cancer diagnosis.NYC's most notorious repeat offender—a guy who's been caught 134 times for stealing and still hasn't stopped. And finally, the mind-blowing possibility of science turning lead into gold.Get it on!FOR MORE WITH JAY CHANDRASEKHAR:INSTAGRAM: @jaychandrasekharTWITTER: @jaychandrasekhaAPP: https://www.vouchvault.com/FOR MORE WITH JASON “MAYHEM” MILLER:INSTAGRAM: @mayhemmillerTWITTER: @mayhemmillerWEBSITE: magnvs.io/pages/summit?via=mayhemThank you for supporting our sponsors:BetOnlineCalderaLab.com/ADAMGo to https://hometitlelock.com/adamcarolla and use promo code ADAM to get a FREE title history report so you can find out if you're already a victim AND 14 days of protection for FREE!
