Today's episode is a little bit different from the norm. As always, I'm joined by a special guest, but it won't be to bring you a business profile or the kind of interview you're used to! Instead, my guest Jonathan Kempe, founder and CEO at Verifai, and I will be making a very special announcement, and sharing the ins and outs of our exciting news with you. We've been working on this quietly behind the scenes for a while, paddling against the COVID tide, and I'm incredibly proud that we can finally launch this next stage of our LTSC journey. And make no mistake, there is a lot more on the horizon! IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: [07.49] Jonathan and Sarah make a big announcement! [10.38] Jonathan discusses the potential he sees in the opportunity and in the LTSC brand. “There's a need in supply chain for clarity, for collaboration – because supply chains can be so chaotic, we need to work together... and those things are possible when we have a platform to facilitate those conversations.” [14.11] Despite the difficulties of the past year, Jonathan reflects on why now is the right time to embrace something new. “Someone famously said that crises bring opportunity, and I really believe that. There's two ways to look at the world – pessimistically, or you can see the glimmers of hope and see the chance to change the narrative.” [16.56] How Jonathan plans to use LTSC Asiapac to connect the community. [19.55] The growth, and power, of digital marketing. "It has the ability to be really transformational, really quickly.” [25.46] A closer look at the Asiapac region. “Typically, there hasn't been a unified voice across that area.” [27.57] How Jonathan plans to bring his own unique brand to LTSC Asiapac. [32.45] Jonathan's passion for stories and how people's unique journeys can inspire the community. [35.45] The launch of LTSC Asiapac. [37.19] The future for Let's Talk Supply Chain. We're talking with Jonathan Pitts who's a bestselling author, speaker and he's an executive pastor at The Church of the City in Franklin, Tennessee. He's also the proud dad and a big dream advocate for his 4 amazing daughters. Jonathan has pursued a number of big dreams… and has encouraged his family to dream big too. In fact, his oldest daughter had a major role in the movie “War Room” at the age of 10! But Jonathan will be the first to tell you that life can bring major challenges and tough setbacks too. In fact, Jonathan was married to his beautiful bride Wynter… who was a successful author and magazine publisher. And just as they were putting the finishing touches on their book on marriage… Wynter passed away unexpectedly… leaving him a widower and the father of four grieving daughters. As you can imagine… this totally rocked his world and the future and the big dreams Jonathan and Wynter had planned together completely dissolved. So he… along with his daughters had to decide how they were going to live life and move forward. And it's been a tough… beautiful… messy… and wonderfully inspiring journey since. Now… Jonathan has written a new book that offers us a real... intimate… raw... and ultimately hope-filled look at grief… and how to live life to its fullest after tragedy. It's called, My Wynter Season: Seeing God's Faithfulness in the Shadow of Grief. We're going to talk about it… and what it takes to continue to dream… and encourage others to do the same on the other side of grief. Let's do this! RESOURCES: Jonathan's newest book: My Wynter Season: Seeing God's Faithfulness in the Shadow of Grief. Jonathan and his wife, Wynter, co-wrote Emptied: Experiencing the Fullness of a Poured-Out Marriage and She is Yours: Trusting God as You Raise the Girl He Gave You. Jonathan now serves as president of the ministry he and Wynter founded together, For Girls Like You––a nonprofit organization featuring a magazine and resources for girls that grew out of Wynter's desire to empower and equip their own girls and to provide parents with the resources and support needed to raise strong women. MORE ABOUT THIS EPISODE: As you probably know… this year we're going after launching 1 million dreams this year! It's been amazing to see your response and your support. LOVE that so many of you are on board with this mission. At the same time… we need to acknowledge that in the midst of a global pandemic where many people are hurting from the loss of family members, it's important to speak to the “tough stuff” too. That's exactly why we're talking with Jonathan Pitts… because his unique perspectives can bring comfort and encouragement based on his own first-hand experience with unfathomable loss. In his book, “My Wynter Season,” Jonathan takes his readers on the emotional journey from “love at first sight” to complete blindsided loss in the midst of a season of losing family members (in a period of two years the Pitts family lost 6 family members including Wynter), to finding the beauty in seeing Wynter's continued impact on the world. During our conversation… we talk about the importance of finding hope amidst the hardest days and the deepest grief. Plus, we dig into ways to dream and/or dream again… after experiencing loss. I think you're going to love this conversation. I sure did! In today's COVID world, research says that over https://www.fool.com/retirement/2020/03/27/nearly-50-of-americans-dont-have-enough-emergency.aspx (50% of American's) don't have enough savings to make it through the pandemic. Society, marketing, advertising, and Amazon have all played a part in the vicious circle of borrowing ourselves into oblivion as we continue to purchase things that we probably don't need. As my guest, Jonathan DeYoe, says, "once you're financially educated, you no longer stress about your money." Jonathan is focused on helping people become financially literate and writes about Financial Literacy and Behavioral Wealth Management for news outlets like BusinessInsider.com and MindBodyGreen.com. He is also the author of the Amazon Bestseller Mindful Money: Simple Practices for Realizing Your Financial Goals and Increasing Your Happiness Dividend. He also takes his expertise on the road and speaks locally and nationally on the intersection of money and mindfulness. In today's show, Jonathan and I discuss basic finance, create a financial plan, and how mindset plays a significant role in your financial freedom. As I always say, "You have to get your mindset right, to get your money right." We also discuss fiduciary advisors vs. financial advisors and the path of financial security > financial freedom > wealth. How Jonathan started with nothing, tried everything, and found his niche Understanding basic finance and creating a plan How wealth is created in the real world Financing today is a vicious circle as the capacity for us to borrow ourselves into oblivion plays into our desire to spend. Jonathan feeling deficient because he was different How Jonathan went on a journey driving a school bus across the United States and listened to people with atypical brains and bodies The value of human fallibility The Eye to Eye mentoring program How the private sector corporate diversity policies can make difference by including atypical brains and bodies as part of diversity initiatives

“When somebody good, or something good comes around the world doesn’t trust it and they destroy what they don’t understand.” Jonathan “Sugarfoot” Moffett is one of the most important drumming figures in pop music. He has had an unbelievable career with even more unbelievable beginnings. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Jonathan began playing drums as a child. He and his two older brothers all played in a band together for a few years until eventually Jonathan was fired because he couldn’t get into the nightclubs to play that his brothers wanted to perform in. This disenchanted Jonathan a great deal but would prove that this was just the beginning of an incredible life of music. His whole story is something divine or something we might read in a fairy tale. He was in association with Michael Jackson up until the time of Michael’s death in 2009. Jonathan was with Michael on the last night that he was alive on this earth. It was a thirty-year working relationship and brotherly friendship and I am almost certain that we will never hear of something like that happening again. Jonathan has also performed with Madonna, Sir Elton John, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, and many others. His resume is something of epic proportions and he shares so much wisdom in this episode that helps us understand why that may have been. You Will Hear About…. How Jonathan got his name “Sugarfoot”. How Jonathan got the Jackson gig. Jonathan’s beliefs on what is intended for us. The multiplicity effect drumming has on our brains. Michael Jackson’s compassion for all life. How Jonathan feels since Michael’s passing. Jonathan’s thoughts and feelings towards the allegations and controversy surrounding Michael Jackson. Why Should You Listen? This episode contains things that are incredibly inspiring and also educational, which makes it a great episode. It also contains a lot of great stories from the legendary career that Jonathan has experienced so far. However, what Jonathan has to say regarding Michael’s passing and the allegations and controversy makes this episode important. I have read and heard numerous interviews with Jonathan and no one goes there with Jonathan. It is some incredibly strong subject matter and difficult to ask as a host. But we went there. I must say though, given the amount of time Jonathan spent with Michael, he is a very credible person to speak about this stuff. He is both neutral and knowledgeable about what Michael was really like as a person. I believe that anyone who hears this episode will have a sense of confirmation that Michael was a better human being than most of us can fathom. In this episode, I talk to Jonathan Bruderlein who started farming with horses, then took a break to spend a couple of years traveling to farms around the US and Canada and is now back in Quebec to start version 2.0 of his farm. You'll also hear about: >> How Jonathan managed field cultivation with horses >> How taking a step back to travel gave he and his family perspective and inspiration >> Why some of the most profitable time on a farm is spent with your team >> How your farm and life goals tie into what he calls 'human sustainability' >> Common limiting beliefs of farmers About the Guest: Jonathan's a nerd...a really big nerd. Jonathan loves numbers, loves spreadsheets, and above all loves people. Jonathan owned and operated a successful certified organic vegetable farm in Dunham, Quebec for a number of years using a mix of tractor power and draft horsepower. In 2017, Jonathan and his family decided to take a sabbatical, convert their delivery van into a camper, and travel around the USA and Canada for almost 3 years, visiting farms, learning, and getting a new perspective on life! Jonathan is now back in Quebec and in the process of launching the second iteration of the farm. Having completed a life coaching training during these travels, Jonathan currently is passionately bringing the life coaching model into the farming community. As a life coach, Jonathan supports successful farmers to think outside the box and see even greater possibilities for success in all areas of their lives.

The Twenty Minute VC: Venture Capital | Startup Funding | The Pitch
Jonathan Hsu is Co-Founder & General Partner @ Tribe Capital, one of Silicon Valley's newest funds on the block being founded by Jonathan, Arjun Sethi and Ted Maidenberg. To date, Tribe has invested in the likes of Carta, Cover, Mode Analytics, Prodigy and SFOX. As for Jonathan, before founding Tribe he was a Partner @ Social Capital where he utilized data and technology to augment sourcing, evaluation of investment opportunities and the management and value add for portfolio companies. Before that he led the creation of the analytics and data science team at Facebook, including leading the hiring of 200 of the world's leading data scientists and analysts. In Today’s Episode You Will Learn: 1.) How Jonathan made his way from leading 200 data scientists at Facebook to the world of venture and founding his own firm in the form of Tribe Capital today? 2.) If we structure VC simplistically, there are 4 core components: Sourcing: How does Jonathan think about the role of data in actively surfacing the best opportunities? that are the leading data fields that Jonathan would track? Why does Jonathan believe most early-stage firms are just using Linkedin Sales Navigator intelligently? Evaluating: How does Jonathan think about the potential for data to really aid in the picking process? At what stage does this really become possible? How much data is required for data to evaluate opportunities? Winning: Winning deals is seemingly a case of human relationships but how does Jonathan think intelligent data usage and benchmarking can actually help firms win the most competitive deals? Value Add: How does Jonathan think about portfolio management with data? How does this differ from the more traditional "value add" that other VCs provide? Where are the common pitfalls Series A companies you work with face in not achieving product-market fit? 3.) Given the data-driven nature of the approach, does Jonathan think that there is an optimal portfolio construction? Why does Jonathan strongly believe that historical loss ratios are too high? Does data allow firms to really intelligently price these assets at the Series A and B? What are the challenges in pricing these assets so early? 4.) How does Jonathan think about reserve allocation? Why is data more critical than ever in the decision to re-invest or not? What are the leading data signals that Jonathan looks for when determining reserve allocation? Why does Jonathan think that so many firms go wrong in how they approach reserve management and distribution? 5.) Question from Henry Ward @ Carta: What does N of 1 markets mean to you Jonathan? Why are they so inherently attractive? How do pricing dynamics play out in markets that are N of 1? How does Jonathan think about defensibility when analysing opportunities today? Is anything truly defensible anymore?
