She also mentions trying just the cabbage juice, in the event that you don't want to consume the whole cabbage.I want to echo this. When I first started healing, instead of eating a ton of fermented foods like sauerkraut (ie. fermented cabbage), I'd simply take a few teaspoons of the juice. At the time, I didn't make my own sauerkraut. Rather, I bought it in a jar, then pushed the cabbage down far, while the juice rose. That practice never made me feel any bloat.Today I sometimes still do just the juice, just for a little extra boost. Also, because I'm the person who loves to eat things deconstructed, always. I used to eat a Twix, layer by layer to make the enjoyment last as long as possible.Anyways, I digress.Give the juice a try and report back to me if it works well for you, too.p.s. 100g red cabbage contains around 300mg, or 0.3g of glutamine. Sermon Recording Sermon OutlineSpeaker: Rev. Charles DrewSermon Series: Wisdom from God on How to Engage PoliticallyMatthew 5:1-12, 6:9-13, 22:34-40 (ESV)5:1 Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him.2 And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.6:9 Pray then like this:“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.22:34 But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. 35 And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”Sermon OutlineI) We may not disengage politically.“Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” II) Hungering and thirsting for righteousnessA) Ravenous for it.B) What is righteousness? Personal and cosmic meanings “Upstream politics” and “downstream politics” III) How will this “upstream” hunger and thirst show up in our “downstream” public lives?A) Longing to be right with God…Humility (“poor in spirit”).Patience and trust We hunger because the banquet is still ahead. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.Care about methods.Blessed are the poor in spirt… the meek… and the peace-makers. B) Longing to be right with people…Treating them with respect3D creatures made in God's image with stories 11 "Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Wanting for them what we want for ourselves. You shall love your neighbor as you love yourself. C) Injecting hope into public life by celebrating the ‘good stuff' Jesus speaks of blessing 9 times! Good News Prayer of ConfessionOur great Redeemer, your love for our wayward world is beyond understanding or imitation. You mourn our sins; we indulge them. You hunger and thirst for righteousness; we covet. You surrendered your rights and comforts; we demand them. You waited patiently for victory and vindication; we want them now. You always thought of your neighbors and gave your life for them; we often ignore our neighbors' needs. You died to make peace; we sow discord. You honored your enemies; we diminish even our friends. Your heart was pure; our motives are always mixed. And at the end of your lovely life, you offered it to the Father in place of ours, bearing our sins and cruelties into outer darkness so that you could carry us safely home. Make us more like you, dear Lord, in our angry times. Amen.Questions for ReflectionWhat clues does the following statement by C. S. Lewis give us for addressing the political divisiveness in the church? “It is at the church's center, where her truest children dwell, that each communion (i.e., denomination) is really closest to every other in spirit, if not in doctrine. And this suggests that at the center of each there is a something, or a Someone, who against all divergences of belief, all differences of temperament, all memories of mutual persecution [and all political contentions], speaks with the same voice.” (From Mere Christianity, Preface)The Beatitudes richly describe “upstream politics” –the attitudes and perspectives we should bring to public life, (“downstream politics” by contrast deals with particular issues). To be poor in spirit is to be humble and is an “upstream” quality. How teachable are you when it comes to political matters?Jesus was meek, which means that his power was constrained by patient trusting obedience. He was faithful, but he never sought to force his Father's hand, nor to change his time-table. If we follow Jesus, we will be diligent in what is right, but at peace about timing and outcomes: we will not have to win an argument or an election right now; nor will we grow disheartened, bitter, or afraid when the results of our efforts are forestalled. How would a close friend grade you on meekness? Reflect on the following statement: “The people who disagree with us over politics are not the enemies of God—nor are they sub-human—nor are they dismissible by tweet. They are not the 2D incarnations of their voting records. They are 3D creatures made in God's image with stories that have shaped them and that we need in love to know and understand. This is true even if they hate us for our efforts to deal honestly with them.” How might you do a better job approaching those who disagree with you politically? Jesus commands us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. If, for example, we want the first amendment freedom to express our faith in public life, we will want this for our Muslim, atheist, Republican, and Democrat neighbor as well. Hos might you do a better job at this? Is there a friend or relative whose politics you can't stand who just did something decent? Honor them for it. Thank Jesus for faithfully living out the Beatitudes and offering his lovely life in substitution for ours to bring us safely home to the Father.

This week's Misfit Entrepreneur is Alicia Jarrett. Alicia is your quintessential entrepreneur. She is an international real estate investor with offices in Australia and the US, an educator, and founder of multiple companies including SuperCharged Offers and Global Citizens HQ which includes multiple other brands in its holdings. She left a 6-figure job to start her own businesses and as she says “build something great.” And now years later she has done so and has also founded groups to foster women in leadership around the world. I can't wait to dig into all of this with her and get her best advice on how to succeed in real estate investing, so let's get to it. www.Superchargedoffers.com 888-538-5478 alicia@superchargedoffers.com Alicia and her partner Matthew have had great careers. Alicia was in HR and consulting for 18 years and Matt has a background in global transportation and systems. Things were going great in their 6 figure jobs. About a decade ago, Alicia started thinking there was something bigger she should be doing. Why was she there? Why was she was in this job? She loved what she did, but knew there was something bigger out there. So she started a consulting practice focused on leadership and developing people. At the same time, Matt and Alicia were doing some real estate investing. Investing in Australia was much different and limiting compared to the US. They were doing fix and flips and rentals, but asked what could do they by combining their skills and building something bigger for themselves. The goal was to build a business they can do anywhere in the world. They ended up landing in the US doing fix and flips from Australia. They had some successes and some failures. They then worked to combined their talents utilize data in a bigger way. They figured out a process for how to wholesale land and invest. As they had success, they decided to go further and better automate their marketing and lead generation creating their SuperCharged offers platform. This led to other businesses being created to help build their companies as they are today. Tell us about your strategy, system, and what you do… Land Scouts is a business that buys off market land usually from estates or that people have owned for long periods of time and have not done anything with it. A lot of realtors don't want to deal in land There is a need for a service to help sell the land and/or get problems fixed so the land can be sold. Alicia will buy and hold and/or buy and flip. They also help with financing working the seller and seller financing. The Supercharged Offers business helps generate the leads for the land deals. Alicia and Matt are obsessed with data and have developed a science on gathering and filtering the data to find the best opportunities. They then market through omnichannel to those opportunities. 6 D's- Data, Direct Mail, Digital, Design of everything in the language of the customer, Demographics, Done for you. This discussion is the bulk of the episode, so it's best to listen… What is your take on the current real estate market? It feels like history is repeating itself. Alicia is doubling down and marketing hard. Alicia is using data to help with market sentiment looking at the last 2 years of sales trends. The market sentiment is shifting with people paying more and more above market value. Getting good properties is harder because the sellers are in control, so you really need to be looking at the data to adjust offers accordingly. Traditionally 10% of people in the US move every year…that has changed and is a higher percentage during Covid The trend is out of the cities and to find more suburban life. What are you doing to prepare for when this real estate bubble ends? You have to look at pivoting your strategies You cannot do nothing. You have to be prepared. If you wait to act, by the time the shift has happened, it is too late. Demand will shift as those that wanted to get land or move from the cities will and that demand will dry up. Tell us about the B-RAFT method for leadership… People don't leave jobs, people leave people. B- What are the clearly defined boundaries for your team. The boundaries that help them grow and develop. R-Right relationships in place A- Accountability. Put processes in place to define and drive accountability. F – Feedback. You have to be good a giving feedback as a leader. Feedback is not always about telling someone. It is about a leader asking good questions. T- Trust. This is the basis of a team. Empower people and set expectations.   Best quote: Do things that scare you. Do the things that make you cringe a little.   Alicia's Misfit 3: Never, ever stop learning. Put your learning into action. Do things that scare you. Do the things that make you cringe a little. Listen at your own risk.- “Trauma and Community: Survivor Vs Victim Vs Acceptance-S03E20”- By xEmeraldxWolfx https://fetlife.com/users/7081106/posts/6698137- I recently attended a munch where part of the focus of conversation revolved around trauma. How we handle it, the mindset we have, where we can get stuck, and just the general approach different people have. I am sure we can all identify or are familiar with people in the various stages or mindsets of processing trauma. The stages were outlined as victim, survivor, and acceptance. Most of us can look back at our lives and recognize when we have experienced one mindset or another, but for some reason, some people never move on from one or another and get stuck there. I am not an expert and I don’t think I can relate to what was explained in a clear concise manner. That being said, this is my understanding of the 3 stages and I wanted to get them out, get some feedback, and see if others have anything to add.- Why did you write this?- Has there been any blowback from posting it?- We’ve all experienced some level of trauma: death of a loved one, physical and/or emotional abuse, sexual assault, violation of limits, etc. - A: What do you think lies within those who are able to move past it and into acceptance?- B: What do you think it is about the victim and survivor mentalities that cause people to get stuck here?- Do you think it is possible for people to move forward if they have plateaued in one of those two mentalities? What is your biggest piece of advice when talking with people that seem to “stuck” as a victim or as a survivor?Important Links:Full show notes: https://kuldrinskrypt.com/320 National Suicide Hotline: 1-800-273-8255https://KuldrinsKrypt.com/Patreon https://kuldrinskrypt.com/silentcommunication https://KuldrinsKrypt.com/survey https://kuldrinskrypt.com/TeePublic Show Producers:-Benefactor ($2,000/month): -Pro Producer ($100/month): -Master Producer ($50/month): -Executive Producer ($25/month) ShadowyFox, JunicornsAngel, Johnny Ferrell, Haru Webb, Rei Webb, LylacWine, and Brendan-Sr. Producers ($10/month): Matt, xEmeraldxWolfx, Roxiebear, Trouble113, ThatPlace: Oklahoma City, JayKayVoss, babylove&Sir, SortOutTheKinks, Master Gabriel, Raefe, Daddy Steve, Sir Pent, PurplePantera, Stella, TwistedTink&JustTommy, ArtKitten, AuthorMistressBlackrose, UpstateScCouple, JohnathonHood, Crystal Force, Cali, and PerfectlyThick-Producers ($5/month): Kainsin, Alexandria, KJ, Hadea, XxLilyXxX, Sir&Kitten, Raven, Raider69time, Bonneville, Atsila, PWB, MBRpoodle, Baddogbad, CozyCow, Jace, LilRedRose, Felix, and MsRedSin & AJRJ-Jr. Producers ($1/month): K-2SO, Jeremiah, Morgana13, Rope Aficionado, and BrodieBecome a show producer: https://KuldrinsKrypt.com/PatreonVendors I know, like, trust, and use: (None of these are paid sponsors of the podcast.)- http://bdsmcontracts.org Coupon code: kuldrin20 for a 20% discount on all purchases.- http://whippingstripes.com - My personal maker of most things leather and paracord impact toys.- http://www.torridtimber.com/ - Fine fetish furniture and accessories- https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheCraftyHedonist -Tink’s Toys Fb Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2350280868612699 Fetlife Profile: https://fetlife.com/users/9885653?sp=3 *coupon for listeners*Contact info:Email: MasterKuldrin@gmail.comFetlife Group: https://fetlife.com/groups/159275Fb: Kuldrin Fire https://www.facebook.com/kuldrin.fireTwitter: @MasterKuldrin https://twitter.com/MasterKuldrinInstagram: masterkuldrin https://www.instagram.com/masterkuldrin/Patreon: kuldrinskrypt https://www.patreon.com/KuldrinsKryptPaypal: MasterKuldrin http://paypal.me/masterkuldrinhttp://kuldrinskrypt.com/contactresourceLimits and Interest Survey: https://kuldrinskrypt.com/survey

Most American children attend a summer camp over the long break. There are many different kinds of camps, such as sports camps, art camps, and dance camps. While some camps are day camps (where campers are dropped off for the day then picked up in the afternoon), other are sleepaway camps, and campers spend 1-2 weeks away from home living on camp grounds. Around the age of 16, campers become counselors-in-training. A: Você sabe qual é a faixa etária do seu grupo? B: Sei, os pequenininhos. A: Tá animada? Eu não vou perder uma criança!A: I can’t believe that I am in Mary’s group this year! She is always so nice! B: Yeah, I love her too! She was my counselor a couple of years ago. We did a ton of art projects. Now that I am a counselor, I wanna do just as many art projects. A: Do you know what age group you’re gonna be working with? B: Yes, the little kids. A: Are you excited? B: I am! They are so enthusiastic about everything and actually want to participate in all of the camp activities, no matter how silly they are. A: Yikes, I guess that means you’ll have to really keep track of them, though. B: How hard could it be? A: Well it’d be pretty bad if you lost one. B: What?! I’m not gonna lose a camper!

Part three of our series, "ADVENT REDUX," looking at Hope, Peace, Love, and Joy in the Psalms. REFLECTION/DISCUSSION QUESTIONS: 1. A) Reflect on your thought-life. On a normal day, from when you wake up to when you go to sleep, do you do more preaching to yourself or listening to your thoughts preaching to you? B) What kind of things do you preach to yourself on a daily basis? What kinds of things does your mind, if left unchecked, preach to you throughout the day? C) How does this self-preaching affect our heart and how we live or fail to live a life of praise? 2. A) What are the personal benefits you experience in relationship with God? Bless theLord, O my soul, andforget not all his benefits, whoforgives all your iniquity, whoheals all your diseases, whoredeems your life from the pit, whocrowns you with steadfast love and mercy, whosatisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed likethe eagle's. -Ps.103:2-5 B) What are the practical benefits you experience in relationship with God? TheLordworksrighteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. He made known hisways to Moses, hisacts to the people of Israel. -Ps.103:6-7 C) What are the pardoning benefits you experience in relationship with God? TheLordismerciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide nor will hekeep his anger forever. He does not deal with usaccording to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. Foras high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is hissteadfast love towardthose who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does heremove our transgressions from us. -Ps.103:8-12 D) What are the paternal benefits you experience in relationship with God? Asa father shows compassion to his children, so theLordshows compassionto those who fear him. -Ps.103:13 3. A) Think about your own story of salvation or where you are with belief right now. How did God move toward you in pursuit of your heart? B) How has God worked through the people and circumstances in your life to show you His love for you/your need for him? C) Are there areas of our lives where we love with sentiment and words where action is needed? What stops us from taking action and loving in deed? For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. -Luke 19:10 Little children, let us notlove in word or talk but in deed andin truth. -1 John 3:18 4. A) How does the world typically define and portray love? B) How might we understand and live-out a version of love that is transactional? C) In what way is Gods love different? D) What does it mean that God does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities (Ps.103:10)? E) How does Gods self-giving love free us to love others in a way that is costly and sacrificial? For one will scarcely die for a righteous personthough perhaps for a good person one would dare even to diebutGod shows his love for us in thatwhile we were still sinners, Christ died for us. -Romans 5:7-8 TheLordismerciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will hekeep his anger forever. He does not deal with usaccording to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. -Psalm 103:8-10 This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends You did not choose me, butI chose you and appointed you that you should go andbear fruit and that your fruit should abide -John 15:12-13,16 5. A) How does Gods love through the finished work of Jesus satisfy the deepest longing in us for love? B) What does it mean that we have every spiritual blessing in Christ? There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. -1 John 4:18 Blessed bethe God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessingin the heavenly places In lovehe predestined us foradoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us inthe Beloved. -Ephesians 1:3-6 6. A) What is the response of your heart when you dwell on these realities put forth in this Psalm?: Bless the Lord...who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eaglesSo great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from usthe steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him. -Psalm 103:2-5, 11-12 B) What does it mean for you to respond by living a life of praise? Bless theLord, O youhis angels, youmighty ones whodo his word, obeying the voice of his word! Bless theLord, all hishosts, hisministers, who do his will! Bless theLord, all his works, in all places of his dominion. Bless theLord, O my soul! -Ps.103:20-22 For final reflection: Does my love for people reflect the type of love that God has graciously shown to me? When I look at my life, relationships, and how I use what I have, is it evident that there has been real transformation in my heart? Does my life show that I am truly born of God? In what ways do I walk like my heavenly Father? How does praise to the glory of the Lord for who He is and all He has done overflow from my heart into my life? What areas do I need to bring before Him in confession and repentance, and ask Him for help in loving others? Have I been looking to other things to satisfy the longing in my heart that only the love of God can satisfy? Who in my life needs to experience Gods love right now? How can I move toward them and tangibly love them with an active, self-giving love? Spend some time reflecting on the perfect love of God. Reflect on who he is, all of the ways he has poured out his love on you, even when you are not lovable. Reflect on his love for you displayed most clearly in the gospel and sending his Son who gave his life that you might live and know him. Let your heart be captivated and encouraged by the perfect love of our God. A Puritan prayer from the Valley of Vision: LORD JESUS, Give me to love thee, to embrace thee, though I once took lust and sin in my arms. Thou didst love me before I loved thee, an enemy, a sinner, a loathsome worm. Thou didst own me when I disclaimed myself; Thou dost love me as a son, and weep over me as over Jerusalem. Love brought thee from heaven to earth, from earth to the cross, from the cross to the grave. Love caused thee to be weary, hungry, tempted, scorned, scourged, buffeted, spat upon, crucified, and pierced. Love led thee to bow thy head in death. My salvation is the point where perfect created love and the most perfect uncreated love meet together; for thou dost welcome me, not like Joseph and his brothers, loving and sorrowing, but loving and rejoicing. This love is not intermittent, cold, changeable; it does not cease or abate for all my enmity. Holiness is a spark from thy love kindled to a flame in my heart by thy Spirit, and so it ever turns to the place from which it comes. Let me see thy love everywhere, not only in the cross, but in the fellowship of believers and in the world around me. When I feel the warmth of the sun may I praise thee who art the Sun of righteousness with healing power. When I feel the tender rain may I think of the gospel showers that water my soul. When I walk by the river side may I praise thee for that stream that makes the eternal city glad, and washes white my robes that I may have the right to the tree of life. Thy infinite love is a mystery of mysteries, and my eternal rest lies in the eternal enjoyment of it. Amen.

Alright I need to put a cut off on this lol… You’ve got THIS WEEK to subscribe to “The Kale Letter” in order to get it 5x per week. After that I’m only sending it once hahaThis topic is for EVERYONE reading this, yes, everyone. It’s one of the biggest mistakes I see people make. And it causes some of the most unhappiness as well. It’s called the concept of SUNK COSTS. According to an article in Time Magazine, “The sunk cost effect is the general tendency for people to continue an endeavor, or continue consuming or pursuing an option, if they’ve invested time or money or some resource in it,”The classic example of this?? Yep, you guessed it. That girlfriend or boyfriend that you JUST CAN’T SEEM to get around to dumping… :)Whether you’re married now (like me) or not, we’ve all been there most likely, haha!YOU INVEST SO MUCH TIME, EFFORT, EMOTION, & MONEY into SOMETHING or SOMEONE that it is SO MUCH EASIER to just KEEP GOING rather than FACE THE PAIN of realizing that you WASTED THAT MUCH TIME AND RESOURCE!!I personally think, at least for me, that that sentence above says it all. It’s not that I don’t know the right thing to do.I KNOW I should abandon that marketing campaign, it’s not profitableI KNOW I should fire that employee, they aren’t working hard…I KNOW I should switch from comcast to Verizon, their service is terribleHowever, I spent WEEKS working on that marketing campaign! I spent DAYS on MEETINGS with that employee! And calling comcast customer support is worse than getting a tooth removed!LOL.We’ve all been there, am I right? Here’s the thing though, you’ve GOT to RIP THE BANDAID OFF. By far some of the biggest, most important, most PIVOTAL decisions in my life were when I realized that yes, that time has been wasted…But more importantly, it was CRIMINAL of me to WASTE ANY MORE TIME!!!That’s what you really have to focus on here. Not the past, where the time, money, emotions, and feelings can never be recovered. But on the FUTURE time that you will CONTINUE to waste if you don’t CHANGE!REAL QUICK: - one quick personal example so that you can get on with your day and start thinking about the areas in your life that need to be aggressively pruned to avoid this extremely common cause of unhappiness in your life. 23 Years of BASKETBALL completely ABANDONED. Many of you know this, but I played Division 1 Basketball. I played at Northwestern University in Chicago, Drake University in Iowa, and Duquesne University here in Pittsburgh. Here’s a picture of me at NU, share this letter with someone if you dig the shaggy hair ;-)When I was in fifth grade, I told my dad I wanted to “Play at Duke” and “Play in the NBA”. My dad, a collegiate basketball coach at the time sat me down and said…“Kale, if you want that, you need to work for it. You need to practice, every day.”So I did. From fifth grade up until I took my last shot in a college game at Duquesne in 2016.I worked out.EVERY DAY.literally.Obsession level = Dragged my dad to the gym at 11pm on a Saturday night to rebound.Endless summers traveling the World playing AAU basketball. Then the 24/7 obsession of elite D1 ball. Talk about SUNK COSTS!THOUSANDS of HOURS.Blood, sweat, and literal tears. And then, one day, the ball stopped bouncing. I had a choice to make.A) Pursue a professional career overseas (100% doable & probably the natural route to go in order to not waste my entire life’s work)B) Quit, get a day job, and stay in Pittsburgh. Here’s the point. I’m not special. But this is the point that you can take to the BANK. —->>> Ignoring YEARS of sunk costs and STAYING IN PITTSBURGH was THE SINGLE BEST DECISION I’ve EVER MADE IN MY LIFE. I started multiple businesses worth tens of millions of dollars.I met the love of my life and best friend and married her I became ridiculously involved with the best church on the planetThose 3 things above?Game changer. Game over. I would not be anywhere close to as wealthy, happy, or fulfilled if I didn’t have those 3 things. And the crazy part is, EVERYTHING INSIDE OF ME told me NOT TO DO IT. Your literal BODY will scream NO!Your stomach will hurt. You’ll get headaches. You’ll wake up with crazy dreams. It will HURT for a while. Sunk costs are no joke. They have memories, emotions, and PAIN associated with them. Ripping them off is like ripping off a giant bandaid from the biggest, most infected wound you could ever imagine. But oh, the peace and satisfaction when you’ve done it. I would encourage each of you reading this to do a couple practical things. Ask yourself A) What in my life am I holding on to simply because I put a lot of effort or time into it? B) What in my life am I holding on to simply because I put a lot of MONEY into it?Really think about this. These things might be so in-grained into your psychology that you don’t even notice it. They might be the MOST IMPORTANT THING ABOUT YOU (you think). That’s okay. Did I ever think I’d be an entrepreneur writing you this letter from my rooftop deck in Pittsburgh?HELL NO. I thought I would be playing basketball my whole life. Life is crazy, and today might be the day you really start to live it.Love ya. Kale Get on the email list at thekaleletter.substack.com

Joining me is IKE DEVJI to discuss some of the ways to address this issue. He is a prominent attorney in Scottsdale, Arizona who focusses on asset protection for executives, business owners, athletes, entertainers, and other high visibility people that can be the object of creditors. LnR 118 (Casual Language) Side Hustle (Replay) Hi, I hope that everyone is doing well. The U.S. is finally getting serious about trying to stop the spread of the coronavirus in the country. We are supposed to stay at home if we can. I'm in a small town, so we aren't very worried about it, though we are being careful. Other places in the country have more cases of the virus and are facing stricter rules about staying inside. I know that my listeners in other countries, particularly in Europe and Asia, have already faced many problems because of the virus. I wish all of you the best. This podcast episode is about having a "side hustle". Right now I am working on several side hustles, mainly involving selling online and writing ebooks. A couple years ago I tried selling bookmarks on Amazon. It was an interesting learning experience, but it was also a failure! I learned how to contact a Chinese company to make the kind of bookmark I wanted. That was good. But losing money because no one bought the bookmarks on Amazon was not good. I should have done more research before I chose that product. I liked giving bookmarks as a gift, so I thought other people did, too. Anyhow, I have boxes of unsold bookmarks under the bed in the guest bedroom of my mother's house, where I live. If you are thinking of doing a side hustle or two or three, I encourage you! Be sure to do enough research before you start, though. I learned the hard way! From Nancy at nancy@missbuswell.com.   LnR 118 (Casual Language) Side Hustle A: Hey, do you want to go see a movie tonight? B: Nah, I want to work on my side hustle. A: Your what? What do you mean? B: My side hustle. It means a part-time job, in addition to your full-time job. Usually it means starting an online business. A: Oh, really. I've never heard that expression before. I guess I could say that I have a side hustle, too. I’m writing a short ebook about how to take care of hamsters. I love hamsters and know a lot about them. I’m going to publish the ebook on Amazon Kindle. B: That sounds great. My side hustle is selling things online. I’m actually still doing research on the best way for me to do it. A: I've heard you can make a lot of money as an affiliate seller. B: What's that? A: That's when you sell someone else's product, usually on your own website. You get a percentage of the sales price. You can sell real products, like things on Amazon, or digital products, like computer programs or online courses. B: Wow, I need to do some more research! Thanks for telling me.

What do R2-D2, Pantalaimon, a weird robot koala thing, and Captain Marvel's Flerken friend Goose all have in common? They may (or may not) be new iterations of the age-old concept of a familiar. With a burgeoning awareness of the hazards and intersections of this topic with matters of cultural appropriation, we set out to answer a couple of fundamental questions: A) What exactly *is* a familiar, daemon, or animal companion if not a plot-useful pet? B) What can a familiar/daemon/animal companion DO for authors and readers of science fiction and fantasy that they can't necessarily do in other genres? 3) What do some of the more iconic as well as some of the more murky and borderline examples offer us in better understanding this genre/mode/cat we love so much? Jonathan Hsu is Co-Founder & General Partner @ Tribe Capital, one of Silicon Valley's newest funds on the block being founded by Jonathan, Arjun Sethi and Ted Maidenberg. To date, Tribe has invested in the likes of Carta, Cover, Mode Analytics, Prodigy and SFOX. As for Jonathan, before founding Tribe he was a Partner @ Social Capital where he utilized data and technology to augment sourcing, evaluation of investment opportunities and the management and value add for portfolio companies. Before that he led the creation of the analytics and data science team at Facebook, including leading the hiring of 200 of the world's leading data scientists and analysts. In Today’s Episode You Will Learn: 1.) How Jonathan made his way from leading 200 data scientists at Facebook to the world of venture and founding his own firm in the form of Tribe Capital today? 2.) If we structure VC simplistically, there are 4 core components: Sourcing: How does Jonathan think about the role of data in actively surfacing the best opportunities? that are the leading data fields that Jonathan would track? Why does Jonathan believe most early-stage firms are just using Linkedin Sales Navigator intelligently? Evaluating: How does Jonathan think about the potential for data to really aid in the picking process? At what stage does this really become possible? How much data is required for data to evaluate opportunities? Winning: Winning deals is seemingly a case of human relationships but how does Jonathan think intelligent data usage and benchmarking can actually help firms win the most competitive deals? Value Add: How does Jonathan think about portfolio management with data? How does this differ from the more traditional "value add" that other VCs provide? Where are the common pitfalls Series A companies you work with face in not achieving product-market fit? 3.) Given the data-driven nature of the approach, does Jonathan think that there is an optimal portfolio construction? Why does Jonathan strongly believe that historical loss ratios are too high? Does data allow firms to really intelligently price these assets at the Series A and B? What are the challenges in pricing these assets so early? 4.) How does Jonathan think about reserve allocation? Why is data more critical than ever in the decision to re-invest or not? What are the leading data signals that Jonathan looks for when determining reserve allocation? Why does Jonathan think that so many firms go wrong in how they approach reserve management and distribution? 5.) Question from Henry Ward @ Carta: What does N of 1 markets mean to you Jonathan? Why are they so inherently attractive? How do pricing dynamics play out in markets that are N of 1? How does Jonathan think about defensibility when analysing opportunities today? Is anything truly defensible anymore? Items Mentioned In Today’s Show: Jonathan’s Fave Book: The Origins of Political Order: From Prehuman Times to the French Revolution Jonathan’s Most Recent Investment: Carta As always you can follow Harry, The Twenty Minute VC and Jonathan on Twitter here! It’s official, the book is finally launching on Sunday June 9th! SOOO EXCITED! There is still time to join my book Launch team, for Connect the Dots, turning strangers into meaningful network relationships.   I’ll do a separate Q&A for anyone that joins my Book Launch team. For those that want the behind the scenes – the good/bad & the ugly and by, have I learned a LOT of lessons. Today’s episode is about IMPOSTER SYNDROME with a free downloadable CHEAT SHEET below. This is for everyone that needs a little jolt of confidence. Imposter Syndrome is basically self-doubt. We all have this and experience it. This episode is inspired from all the questions that I receive.     Imposter Syndrome   I love this podcast and the emails that I receive. I’m absolutely grateful for it. I’ve received quite a few emails and messages about feeling like an imposter. Which absolutely breaks my heart because it’s a very real and valid feeling. I repeat, what you are feeling is crippling and REAL!   So, I decided to do an episode about imposter syndrome. We’ve all heard that quote ‘fake it until you make it’ but how can you fake something, when one thinks that they are the ‘fake’ element? When we doubt ourselves? First, you’re not alone. It’s universal. It doesn’t discriminate on age, background, language. It’s truly universal. Einstein used to feel that way too, he described himself as an involuntary swindler. He didn’t feel that his work deserved the attention that it deserved, CRAZY RIGHT!   Here is a great TED Video that explains imposter syndrome. It’s really a cute video. I’ll put the link to the video in the show notes.   What is an impostor syndrome and how can I combat it by Elizabeth Cox on Ted   Download your Cheat Sheet here   It’s interesting, we hear about these Innovators and their challenges and it seems to channel some sort of doubt in our own capabilities versus inspiration of those that challenged the norm. So, let’s talk about it.  Here is my point of view. Imposter Syndrome is actually an ADVANTAGE! I know what you’re probably thinking… WHAT? How is it an advantage?  You have more self-awareness than anyone else.. Yup, It’s an advantage.  Think about all those that overestimate their abilities to do things and they just don’t see the gaps and therefore, they can’t mitigate risks. Then, when it fails they blame EVERYONE else. TA DA!!!! Whenever we are trying something new for the first time, it’s hard. We have learning curves, hard work in front of us. We can see the vision but we don’t know exactly how to get there.   You know, Kevin O’Leary (Mr. Wonderful) stated that he loves investing money in female run companies because they make money in the company. Here is why, women tend to provide conservative estimates in their sales projections. They evaluate the different assumptions, requirements and how realistic things are. They take the time to understand the gaps.   Here is a blog from Business Insider: Kevin O'Leary of ‘Shark Tank' invests in 27 companies and says the only ones making money have female CEOs   You know, when I started off in management consulting (nearly two decades ago), it was sink or swim mentality. We had to find ways to figure things out. Do the research, talk to people, find a way to validate it and then present it to our partners and this was before GOOGLE days. One thing, that management consultants have is, the opposite of imposter syndrome, we had competition, sense of urgency. We didn’t have time to doubt ourselves, we needed to get to the finishing line before our competition did. It was such an ‘up or out’ mentality in the consulting world. We were either moving up in terms of promotions, visibility, branding and so on or we were seen as irrelevant. It really was the survival of the fittest. Good old Charles Darwin makes an appearance again.  However, when I left the corporate world to become an independent consultant. I also decided I wanted to start a podcast. You know what hit me? What disappeared? My confidence. My ability to navigate in the unknown. WHAT? I used to create new product & services offerings not knowing how to do things. What had changed? YUP, I became an imposter!   I had nothing to hide behind. I was literally crippled by feeling like an imposter. It was my name, my reputation and my credibility.   I mean seriously, What on earth did I know about podcasting? Just because I love listening to podcasts, doesn’t mean that I’m going to be great at it. It’s like those foodies that love eating and then decide to open a restaurant. What universe did I belong to? I mean, seriously, I have zero broadcasting background. Never touched a microphone, except for the occasional microphone on karaoke nights. I didn’t have the knowledge, didn’t have the mindset. My benchmark was those that were those that were crushing the podcast world. I’d never hit that status. Trust me, I obsessed over every little detail. We are afraid to fail but we also forget that success takes time and we learn, we tweak, we shift and we pivot. We see people’s FB/Instagram and compare ourselves to these images. You can be inspired, but don’t hold that as a benchmark. Projection is not real.  We are just projecting our insecurities. We see things in others that we ourselves lack. But, how do we know if we lack the ability in something, without trying? Here is the truth.. Those that have ‘so-called’ made-it. We don’t really understand how long it took to ‘MAKE-IT’. We also don’t know about all the struggles they faced. So, here I was,  Imposter in the podcasting world. Did I tell you my favorite quote…? “Thomas Edison failed more than 1,000 times when trying to create the light bulb”. When asked about it, Edison allegedly said, “I have not failed 1,000 times. I have successfully discovered 1,000 ways to NOT make a light bulb.”   Now, 90+ episodes later, I think… what was I waiting for? I should’ve started earlier and made those mistakes earlier. Nothing that I did from day 1 is the same after a year and a half. The website has changed 4 times, the name of the podcast changed, how we edited changed and we still keep changing things and we still keep making such silly errors (i.e. spelling errors on posts, forgetting to send the newsletter, wrong time zone on events and so on). It’s life. Most days I just shake my head and laugh. The spirit of continuous improvement. We need to start somewhere in order to improve. I’ll tell you, starting this podcast at the time was the hardest thing that I’ve ever done. AT THAT TIME,. 18 months later (TODAY). Could I start another podcast? Yup, in a heartbeat. I’ll share something else, starting this podcast has allowed me to have more opportunities. Now, I’m launching a book. No background in writing or publishing and my grammar, stinks. Did I ever tell you a story about my dad. When I was in grade school, I came home with an A+ on my book report. My dad, was furious, absolutely furious. He marched into the school and talked to the teacher. Most parents would be happy that their child got an A+, but not my dad.  He actually read the book report. My grammar was AWFUL! He got the teacher to change my grade to C+ and I believe the teacher was nearly in tears. So, who am I to write a book?  Well, I have learned a few things. Find out what you’re not good at and find someone to help you in those areas. There is no bottleneck if you have things that you want to try, find out all the reasons why you will say ‘NO or BUT’.  List them all down. Then, give yourself a few options. I always believe in the rule of 3. Find 3 options to overcome this challenge/bottleneck or even I’m here to tell you that – You’re no more of an impostor than I am with starting a podcast, writing a book and launching an online course!   TONY ROBBINS SAYS: FEED THE FEAR!!!     It’s like, when you play a new video game for the 1st time.  We don’t get very far in our first attempt at the level. But, then we think, what could I do differently to pass this level. We experiment, try and learn. Another great example, It’s like dating, we go on a lot of bad dates before we hit the jackpot. Did we stop going out on dates? Nope. But, the stories of those bad dates are what we share with others and we laugh. So, why don’t we share the challenges that we hit in our professional lives? Impostor is because we are lacking confidence. We are afraid to fail. How about changing the outlook, to say that you’re just experimenting. I started the BrainFood Virtual Book Club, because I would read business books and have no one to talk to. I put out a blog to tell everyone that I’m going to try this and see if it’s a failed experiment. It’s been 5 months now and it’s been a great success. There are only a couple of us that come each month.. But the point was.. I had zero clue on how this BrainFood Virtual Book Club was going to work. It didn’t stop me because I know that everything can be FIGURED OUT!  Everything is Solvable (except health, I have zero clue, but I’m learning) Well, we need to start somewhere to beat this impostor syndrome and this ties nicely to the vulnerability episode (which by the way, was one of my top downloaded episodes), along with the episode with Ariel about how to undo those knots in our head. Get rid of those negative thoughts. Links will be in the show notes. So, you know me, I like getting to tactics There is a great book by Valerie Young, called The Secret Thoughts of Successful Women: Why Capable People Suffer from the Impostor Syndrome and How to Thrive in Spite of It She basically breaks down people into a few different categories: Are you a perfectionist? Is the issue that you’re afraid of not looking perfect Are you Superwoman/Superman? Need to do everything? Are you an expert? The one that needs to know 100% of everything before you can start. This is my challenge area The Natural Genius – that makes everything look effortless. Soloist – the one that never asks for help   Step 1:   Have you ever admitted out loud when you’re scared of something and then all of the sudden, your not? Well, that’s exactly what we are going to do here. What are you in imposter in? Write it down. What are you dissatisfied with? I was afraid of not being able to do everything. Yup, I was guilty of Superwoman. I have now learned a few things I can delegate and outsource certain things. Now your turn! Say it out loud! Say it to someone!   Step 2:   To building confidence in the area, is to research and read. Find out what others are saying about the topic. That will provide you with a baseline. I’m not saying become an expert in it. I’m saying just read the headlines and be familiar with the themes. Is there anything that these top experts are saying that you didn’t know? Maybe you don’t agree with them. It doesn’t matter. What matters is that you have a benchmark of what the top experts are saying.  Now, you know what and where you’d like to elevate. You know, Tony Robbins is the first to tell you that, when he started out, he read and learned from others that were doing it. In fact, that’s exactly what management consultants do. We learn from others and ‘ELEVATE it’.  We don’t start from ground zero. So, continue to learn – get obsessed with the topic and have fun exploring your curiosity. Starting is the hardest part. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. One step at a time.   Step 3:   Do a SWOT analysis. SWOT stands for Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities & Threats Analyze your strengths (S)  and weaknesses (W). We keep underselling ourselves, whether it’s how much we charge for our services or our capabilities. I want you to remember that you have some incredible experiences from not just our successes but also from our FAILURES.  Such a great source of data! Don’t forget to add things like your amazing source of support. For me, I write down my relationship with my nieces and nephew. They are such a source of strength for me.   Step 4: What are the different opportunities (O) that it could possibly bring?  What could it possibly lead to? Dream big? Think of the WHY – get inspired/ get creative and have fun. Don’t worry, I didn’t forget the T, in SWOT. T stands for Threat in the SWOT analysis.  Let’s tackle the T.   Step 5: Take each of those threats and write down 3 options so that it becomes an opportunity. Did I let my fear of my poor grammar stop me from blogging/writing? Nope. I turned it from a threat to a weakness. I recognized it had 3 options.. (1) Get better at it. Read things out loud, pay attention to the red underlines in word (2) Get someone to proofread everything that I do (which is another bottleneck for turnaround time (3) Delegate or outsource it. That’s exactly what I did. I have Claire, my podcast manager and Barbara, who was my book editor.   Step 6: Develop an end to end plan – what does the overarching roadmap look like? How do we get from point A to point B? What does the end result look like? Break things into smaller steps. Celebrate all your small victories. Come up with timelines/goals   “Goals are dreams with a deadline.” — Tony Robbins   Step 7: It is a lonely road sometimes. Find someone to support you and hold you accountable. Have your own personal board of directors, that come from a variety of backgrounds. Diversity really help see things from different perspectives. In fact, I’ve been part of a few masterminds that have really helped. I’ll be starting my own mastermind shortly. Stay tuned. Find out exactly WHY God brought you and your spouse together! https://marriageaftergod.com Quote From Marriage After God "Dreaming together is an exercise that is important for every marriage after God to participate in. Setting goals and casting a vision for the future strengthens the bond between a husband and wife, stirring up hope for what may come." "Casting a vision together for the future of your marriage is an intimate experience where hope for the future stimulates perseverance for today." Prayer Dear Lord, We pray we would be husbands and wives who dream together. We pray the dreams and the goals that we consider are ones that you put in our hearts. We desire to be used by you to fulfill your purposes. We want to build your kingdom and not our own. May we remember to submit our plans to you always. If there are things that we dream up that need to wait or need to be pushed aside, please help us to be humble. Help us to let go of any pride so that we don’t pursue what we want but instead only what you want. May we experience intimacy in marriage as we intentionally consider all that you have for us. We also pray we would have fun as we do this as a team for your glory! In Jesus’ name, amen! Thank you guys for joining us. [Isaac] So great to be here. [Angie] Yeah, we're really excited to support you guys. [Isaac] And we love the book. [Aaron] Wow. [Isaac] Yeah. [Angie] It's awesome. [Aaron] Thank you. [Jennifer] Well, we just wanted to take a minute right here and just have you introduce yourself to everyone listening. So maybe share how long you been married, how many kids you have, and what you guys do. [Isaac] I'll start off with 19 years. It's been an incredible journey. How many kids Angie? [Angie] We have eight. [Isaac] So and we're in ministry courageousparenting.com. [Angie] And courageousmom.com. [Aaron] Awesome, so you guys have been doing ministry for a long time but now you guys are more specifically doing it together online with this podcast with your website. How did we meet? How did you guys meet because we do fellowship with you guys. A lot of the people we've been interviewing, we actually go to church with. So people like why do they know all these people, well? They go to our church but we met before gone just together [Angie] Yes we did. I think it was when, it was just years ago when Jen and I met because of Redeeming Childbirth. And she was pregnant with Olive at the time. [Aaron] And Redeeming Childbirth is a book you wrote about childbirth and redeeming it with a biblical mindset. [Angie] It's kind of a discipleship tool for women because I cover topics that normal pregnancy books don't cover like pain, fear, marriage from a biblical perspective-- [Isaac] Yeah the spiritual side of it. [Angie] Yeah, how to walk through pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and young motherhood. [Jennifer] Yeah, and we had just moved to Bend you guys had just moved to Bend and so we met up for coffee and that that was the beginning. [Isaac] It's been a great journey. [Angie] It really has. [Aaron] Yeah, it is, we know how small the world is and how close you can become with someone that you didn't know before, and now you're like, I knew I feel like I've known you forever. [Angie] Now, we are like family. [Jennifer] Okay, so after we share this next story, everyone's gonna wanna be you guys as friends. This is how awesome you are. So we just celebrated an anniversary, our 12th anniversary and we didn't have plans and we're gonna go to dinner and Aaron's like, well, let's invite another couple and you guys were right there. We wanted to spend time with you. And so we invited you to go to dinner and-- [Aaron] To our anniversary dinner. [Jennifer] Yeah and it was gonna be awesome but we didn't know you guys on the way over had prepared questions for us to think about in this year. [Aaron] You use to like what's that game the marriage show where you, the Newlyweds Game? You guys, it's kind of that, you guys asked us all these awesome questions. And it made our date night, it was not just a double date where we just chatted, it was like so much fun. [Angie] It was. [Isaac] That means way we answered those questions, [Jennifer] So is that like normal for you guys or a special? [Isaac] That was the first time plus, you know what, the--- [Angie] So, it was just a special. [Isaac] You're special and anniversaries are so special. [Jennifer] That's true and what a great way to celebrate. And we just love that, it's gonna be a standout one for me, I know that. But I had to share that because I think it was super thoughtful. And for those listening, if you're gonna double date on someone else's anniversary, you should do that. It's time we say, we've got a bunch of questions for you. [Jennifer] Okay, so this leads me into the icebreaker question for today. And it came from one of your guys as questions that you asked us. [Aaron] I think it was the first one you asked us. [Jennifer] So here's the question and it's for you guys to answer. If your spouse was a superhero, who would they be? So you're answering this about each other. [Isaac] Why do you kick it off honey? [Angie] I was thinking about this and I think I choose the whole popular Captain America because when I met when Isaac-- [Aaron] His fist pumping right now. You know, that's right. When Issac and I, 20 years ago, when I met him, he was a new believer and had become a new creation like how Steve Rogers turns into the new creation and then he's just this man of vision that wants to do what's right. And he's a leader that people follow. So there's just a lot of qualities, and he doesn't hide behind a mask. So that, there's the boom. [Jennifer] I love that. Real deal. Cool. Transparency. Yeah. [Isaac] Well, that's cool, I think you're Wonder Woman. Because you are pure. Interesting Yes. And your middle name is Crystal, which means what, honey? [Angie] It means brilliantly clear. Or pure. [Isaac] Angie, you're really good at getting the truth out of people. That's true. Right, she's right. [Jennifer] She is drastic, it's true [Isaac] Exactly, that's all truth, she cares about justice. [Angie] That's true. [Aaron] And she cares about truth. And you have an unbelievable ability to do many things at once which everybody says you're not supposed to be able to do. [Angie] You truly are a super mom. [Isaac] A super mom, that's right. [Aaron] Super mom, it's new superhero I don't know if that show would go very far today. Okay, so Jennifer. [Jennifer] Sorry guys. [Aaron] So Jennifer, what would your superhero be for me? [Jennifer] Okay, so just so everyone knows when we were sitting there that night, the whole time, I was thinking about my answer for you. I was sitting there thinking, please don't say I'm Hulk. Please don't say I'm Hulk. Because out of all the superheroes I was just thinking that's the one that's not like attractive, and he's big and he's angry and I don't wanna be Hulk. And what comes flying out of Aaron's mouth, I think Jen would be Hulk. [Aaron] I did say that. [Jennifer] So, anyways-- [Aaron] But for good reasons, not because you're big and green, and angry. Because you have strength that comes out of you when you need it. And you're smart, and you're intelligent. Now, those were the qualities I was trying to get out of Bruce Banner, okay? [Jennifer] Thank you And then, what did I say for you? Oh, I said, Dr. Strange because you have-- [Aaron] A strange and-- [Jennifer] Yeah, you have gifted discernment and you you know things like-- [Aaron] Yeah, weird things, yeah, weird. [Jennifer] Yeah, that's true. [Aaron] There we go, okay, [Jennifer] Fun little question to ask. You guys can ask each other those listening. It's just fun, I like it, I like ice breakers. [Aaron] So why don't we so as we get into the all the questions we're gonna ask the Tolpins, our good friends. Why don't you read the quote from chapter 13 of the Marriage After God and then we'll get into that. [Jennifer] Okay, it says, dreaming together is an exercise that is important for every marriage after God to participate in, setting goal and casting a vision for the future strengthens the bond between a husband and wife stirring up hope for what may come. [Aaron] Awesome, how does that, does that sound right? Because you guys are dreamers. You guys are excellent at planning. It's when we thought about this chapter, we're like, oh, we have to have the Tolpins [Jennifer] They are like professional goal setters. [Aaron] The ones we interview about this because you are planners and goal setters and dreamers. I don't think you know how to have small dreams. You only know like large, big, like-- [Angie] I'd say Isaac definitely is a bigger dreamer than I am and so a lot of times I find myself running as fast as possible to keep up. [Isaac] And sometimes that's good and sometimes it's not. That's right. Yeah. [Angie] So we've learned over the years to be able to tell where each other are at and be there to support each other, it's been-- [Isaac] But I think it's vital as a marriage to have vision, we are called to have vision and to look ahead, otherwise, we just get sucked into the circumstances of the day and stuck in the mundane. And it's important to have vision. [Angie] And there isn't a lot of growth when you're just sitting there without vision either. So it's one of the things that I think has made us really enjoy marriage and life is just always looking forward to how we can be growing ad what's next, and looking forward. Isaac always makes this joke when his birthday comes around that he doesn't like looking back. He likes getting older. He doesn't care that he getting older too. Oh, it's the best thing. I like getting older too Oh, Yeah He just loves it. [Aaron] People really don't wanna stay young. I wanna, I can't wait to be gray haired. [Isaac] Yeah, wisdom, you get to see your kids get older, more experiences, you've learned more. [Angie] But one of the things that he said about that that's always stuck with me and challenges me because I'm not naturally like that is that if you're focused so much on the past, then you're not gonna be growing. You're always wanting what you had. And so it's just a challenge to look forward and it's a good challenge. [Jennifer] That's awesome, so, have you guys always been dreamers and goal setters in your marriage like from the very beginning? Or is it something that kind of developed over time? [Isaac] I would say that it was from early on actually. And in business, I've always played a proactive role in helping people have goals and vision, and so forth is really important. And I think, you know, husbands need to apply that to their marriages into their family. And I think it's super important. So we have done it early on. Of course, it's evolved over time. [Angie] Yeah, for sure. And now we involve our kids in it too, which we'll talked about later but-- [Aaron] Yeah, we love that because you're teaching them how to be in the moment, and do what needs to be done but also look ahead and prepare. So you've always been dreamers, you've always been planners but have you said it's evolved. What are some of the ways that it's changed over time, the way you used to plan, dream? [Angie] Well, you know what, Isaac actually, I haven't said this him out loud but I think he's actually the one who really taught me how to set goals. Because I worked for him when we met, that's how we met. And I was an independent contractor and had to set sales goals and different things like that. And he would coach the team through how to do that. And we just kind of took that into our personal life because it was so productive. And we saw good results from it. So we started applying it to life and other areas. [Isaac] There's a principle called the napkin talk in leadership, and I just took that same principle to our date nights. Not every single one, sometimes we just hanging out. We do do that. [Angie] I don't see, but we really absolutely enjoy it. [Isaac] But we really love, so we almost have to force ourselves just to go hang out sometimes, but we-- [Angie] We actually had friends who were like, don't you guys just go and like sit? [Isaac] Yeah, we do, we like that, but the napkin talk, I mean which means you pull out a napkin, you have a pen, you write down some goals, and you write down some initiatives, and there's an incredible power when you actually put thoughts to paper. I don't know what happens but it activates action in your lives and in your marriage. And I think that's really important. [Jennifer] I feel like there's a really good practical tip for people listening if this is something that they really haven't done in their marriage, or maybe they've done it in the past, but haven't done it recently, getting out that napkin, getting out that piece of paper, even after listening to this episode and just go for it. It's the kind of place to start brain dump and just get it out of your mind, out of your heart, and onto the paper. [Isaac] And I think you just think of one or two really good questions, it can be that simple. [Aaron] So, I just wanna, I love those tips, the napkin, what was it called, napkin talk? Where you just write down on a napkin and that's awesome. We do something similar. We don't ever do a napkin but we bring a pad or we bring a pad or we do it on our phone, or send ourselves an email. [Jennifer] Actually I have used napkins before. [Aaron] Yeah, I think you have, that's it or worse we get some receipt paper please. [Isaac] Yeah, exactly, whatever. [Isaac] Yeah, whatever you can. But I just wanna real quick highlight why we've been talking about dreaming. And we're talking about this idea of planning together because in this part of the book, we're encouraging marriages to take all of the things we've talked about up to this point, and actually start getting it out of their hearts, and minds and onto paper. Because once we do that, once we have it out on paper. You said, the power of goal setting, there's every single productivity book or success book has some form of write it down, put a checklist, have a to do list. And there's a reason for that is because once it's written down, it's a real thing. It becomes a, oh, that's actually visible and now I'm not the only one who is thinking about it. [Isaac] So true. [Aaron] Other people can see it, my kids can see, my wife can see it and now I can pray about it. And so I just, I just wanna highlight, that's why we're having this conversation is not just to like, let's have big dreams and shoot for the moon. And, but there's a there's a mission involved in what we're doing. So, that we're proactively use that word proactive, we're proactively chasing after God's will for our life and sometimes and oftentimes it takes dumping all of the things that are in our hearts and minds as a couple onto paper into notes and be like, okay, what does this look like in our life? How are we gonna get to from A to B? What is B, so I just wanted to bring that up and then, so that we all know, everyone that's listening is like, oh, like, that's why we dream, like that's why we plan. [Isaac] I think we're wired for progress too. And so when you're able to look at the end of the year, how you've made progress together, and the things you've accomplished together, it's so rewarding. [Angie] And do you have dreams when you first get married. You dream about your life together. And you may think about specific goals, even then, from when we were just engaged to newlyweds. And it's exciting to keep that going. I think it helps you tonight and become stagnant, like you're saying or becoming a marriage is just surviving but instead, you're thriving. And I think that the first few years that we were married too, the napkin talks, a lot of times were Isaac asking specifically how I was doing in my relationship with God, how I was doing in my relationships with my kids, and that this would become an opportunity for us to communicate about what was going on in their hearts and what I was seeing during the day so that he would know how he could back me up when he was at home or what their needs were, so that we could be a better team when he was off work and on the weekends because he worked during the day, [Isaac] It's so crucial because as husbands, if we want our wives' support, then we better be proactively supporting our wives. What things in our career do we want support with? Well, you're not gonna get it unless you've been proactively all along the way, supporting your wife and the things that really matter. [Angie] And I remember there was a time too, someone asked us years ago because Isaac would shoot for huge goals business wise, and he would hit them. And one of the wives of another manager came up to me and just said, wow, you must have to work so hard at home. Is he working all the time? And I said, well, he does work hard, butt we work together and it's a team, we're a team. [Aaron] It's a good little insight. [Angie] Yeah and in, she just kind of looked at me like, oh, and and I remember like we would go out and if Isaac had a goal for work, like if I was gonna shoot for a different amount of sales, let's say you're in sales, he'd always run that by me first at one of our visionary date nights. And he would say, hey, this is what it might end up costing us like, this much extra time, are you in? Are we, do we wanna do it? So it wasn't just him doing it? [Isaac] And then you being pulled along. [Angie] Right and so even though he was running a business and I was a stay at home mom, I felt so cherished and involved in his business because he was involving me in the dreaming process, and just sharing with me even those goals. And then years went by of us doing that. And one night, he just out of nowhere said Do you have dreams that we're not pursuing together? And then that's where Redeeming Childbirth came in and like, oh, in him encouraging me to have a blog. And so it's important that you both are drawing that out of each other. [Aaron] Well, and I think I saw in a second one ask you about the visionary date night thing. We'll get into that but you said that he would invite you in, involve you. I feel like you probably felt that way but it's even more than that. It sounds like you were a linchpin in the process where it not just being involved in like, hey, what do you think about this idea. It's more of a this goal won't work unless we're on the same page. [Isaac] It's crucial, it's crucial, because if the plan doesn't go well, and you didn't from the beginning decide to do it together, guess who your detractors going to be later? The wife, you can't accomplish big things by yourself. And if you set out to do things then they don't go well, it could harm the marriage, if you didn't set out to do it together. [Aaron] Well, and we talked about this a lot in the book is like, it starts without unity anyway. Like, if you're only doing it for if you're chasing after something and she's chasing after something, what are you doing? You're pulling against each other, and you never gonna get anywhere. [Angie] You won't be effective. [Isaac] No, and so you coming to your wife and it's not a permission based thing, it's purely a, we're one. This will only work if we're on the same page so that you show me where it's not gonna work, and let's figure out how to make it work. And not just in business but like, I love that you guys talked about children. And it actually in this chapter, we talk about the different categories that we could be submitting to the Lord and dreaming in. So when it comes to like children and raising our children and discipleship like, hey, what are some of the visions that we have? And it could be as simple-- For our kids. [Angie] as what character qualities do we see already being cultivated in this child? What is God drawing out of them? And how can we encourage that more? What are some of the flaws that maybe we need to work on? And so there's also those kinds of visions and goals with each child to those were always at the forefront of our family, visionary, and time for sure. [Isaac] Well, we would even write down each child's name and go, what does each child need? [Angie] And there were times to where we would evaluate like do we need to have special one on one time with each child like on a regular basis, like for a period of time to deal with a specific topic? So there are so many ways you could go about this. [Jennifer] That's so cool, and when I think about this chapter of the book and the reason why we wanted to encourage couples to do this very thing of dreaming together and talking about these kinds of things is because it is a really intimate experience because you have to communicate, you have to share your hearts with one another. And that's what I'm hearing. [Aaron] You are really transparent. Jennifer] You have to be transparent, you have to have a insights, you have to know your children, you have to know each other. And I just see how unity is built. Trust is built, love is cultivated when a husband and wife intentionally pursue moments like this together. [Aaron] Absolutely, so there's a quote in the book, it says this. Casting a vision together for the future of your marriage is an intimate experience where hope for the future stimulates perseverance for today. How has this been true in your guys' life? [Angie] Oh, I feel like that quote totally suits for the season that we just been in. [Isaac] We've gone through ups and some really tough times too, ups and downs, for sure. And it has been so crucial to have vision and a godly perspective and putting God at the center of our marriage as we go through the challenging times. [Angie] And really that our goals are centered on Him too. I think that that's the thing that keeps you going. He's the hope and when you know that what you're pursuing is for Him and it's not for gain in anything else then it gives you the hope to keep going every day. And you don't focus so much on the circumstances that you might be in. [Isaac] And we're called to not be of this world, be in the world but not of the world. And that goes for marriage. And so our marriage is a witness to the world. And what a great testimony during the hard times when we just grow closer together. [Jennifer] Amen, love that. [Aaron] Yeah, so you were just mentioning about like, they're like for God and human being in the center and Christ being our hope. And that's everything we want people to recognize but when we say dreaming, often we think like, we have lots of dreams. You said when you were married, you had lots of dreams. There's lots of people thinking, I want a big house, or I want to live in this location, or like we have this many dreams. And I'm not saying any of them are bad. But I wanna know, how do we set biblical boundaries? On our dream in planning, because we definitely could like dream of anything, doesn't mean anything should be done? [Angie] I think that that's one of the benefits of having marriage too is that you can hold each other accountable because there will be times you'll both need it, right? [Jennifer] So good. [Angie] And I think that also when it comes to boundaries, I have specific boundaries that I have set for how I react when he shares his dreams because he's a big dreamer. [Aaron] When is really big enough? [Angie] Yeah, I kind of hold my breath for a minute. Three deep breaths. because I'm like, okay, that's really big. [Isaac] Because she thinks we're for sure doing it because I speak with authority, even though I am just sharing ideas that haven't even been fleshed out yet. [Angie] Yes, and so we've had to learn that about each other. And so he always is really, he's a gentle leader with me in that that he'll remind me ahead of time and say, so I don't wanna do this right now but I was thinking, X, Y, Z. [Isaac] That's only after learning for a few years, in our first two years of marriage. [Aaron] Well then ever went to listening husbands. This is a great tip. Hey, this isn't happening right now or even soon but I'm thinking about doing X, Y, Z. That's a great way to prep your wife for a big conversation. [Angie] It totally is. And then it kind of gives me some time to like let it settle, think about it. And then I don't overreact because we had done a lot of really big things together in business and in planning a vineyard. And we had, yeah, we had six of them in those 10 years. So we really had done a lot. And so, his track record led me to believe that every time you had a dream it had to happen. [Aaron] Because it's been that way. [Isaac] Yeah, and if you want your wife's support then you've got a pre-frame ahead of time like that because otherwise, when I was shared dream without pre-framing it, she would instantly sometimes look for the challenge where I'm too optimistic, she's more realistic. And that's why God put us together, because the differences are such a blessing when you embrace those differences and you respect each other. [Aaron] It's almost like God had a plan for your marriage. [Angie] Amazing, right? [Jennifer] And something that I'm hearing as you guys talk or is that this practice of dreaming together is also practicing communication and learning each other. And so another tip for those listening is learn each other, figure out how each other's going to receive things and adapt your relationship so that you guys can work together as a team and not always end up in arguments or disappointments. [Angie] One tip in that direction is that timing is everything which is one of the reasons why I think our date nights were so successful. It wasn't in the heat of the household. [Isaac] Chaos. [Angie] You know what I'm saying and so-- [Isaac] Handling are you making dinner for our children and me and I thought about this idea. [Angie] Exactly, and I thought you would. [Isaac] So husbands, it's super important to think about the timing of when to bring certain things up, challenges, good things, dreams. And sometimes you're gonna save a list for your date nights, it's super important. [Jennifer] Angie, could you just share to the wives timing for when you're sharing things with your husband, maybe what does it look like on a wife's end? [Angie] On a wife's end regarding the dreams since-- [Jennifer] Timing. [Angie] So right away, when they come home from work if they're someone who's working away from home not a good time to talk to them. Give them some time to so and and I think that night times are actually good after the kids have gone to bed. That's also a good time to talk about it, I wouldn't suggest that for the wives though as much because we just kind of are starting to relax and then it's brought up it can create some anxiety for some women. But the guys generally can handle that but you would have to judge your spouse. [Jennifer] Yeah, for sure. [Angie] But I think that they appreciate us being considerate to them in the same regard that we appreciate being considered. [Aaron] So I have this thought about, we talk about boundaries because like we can dream again of anything but what is God one, and building a, this is for me and for you guys, and everyone that's listening. Beginning to build a track record where we as individuals, as a husband and a wife, and as a marriage, submit everything to the Lord. Instead of like, hey, I have this idea. Let's sell the house and let's move over across country and start a this organization. And everyone's like, whoa, whoa, what? What are you talking about? But having a track record of like, hey, here's an idea. Let's start praying about this today and see what happens. And then learning how to follow through with things or learning how to say no to things after it's been evaluated, prayed through and sought out with counsel, so that when a husband brings up an idea, there's not this fear of like, well, is this going to end up like what happened last time where we're going to change that do something and then fall on our face, and then have to start over again, and then chase after something that follows. Does that make sense? [Isaac] It makes perfect sense. And just because something is good fruit doesn't mean it's fruit we're supposed to pick. So it's really important to have God at the center and be praying about it. It's like in the vineyard, if you have a whole bunch of fruit on a plant, you can't leave all that fruit there. Otherwise, it's gonna make bad wine. But if you cut half of it off, all the energy goes into the right fruit that we're supposed to pick, and it makes great wine. And that's the same thing for a marriage. [Jennifer] I love that. So when dreaming together, there's going to be times where there's gonna be awesome things that come that come up and get on the list that you probably can't pursue, or maybe the timings not there, and you guys have to navigate that together. [Angie] And I think sometimes too, depending on if you're a natural dreamer and you like to dream about a lot of things, sometimes it's not God's will for your life. And that's where you have to be willing to dream but be willing for God to say no. Or to say, no, not now. Because sometimes that's His answer too. And so and that's part of why I think that he's given us protection and having a spouse because we can kind of ground one another in the times when we need to. But we can also be one another's biggest cheerleader in those times when we know God's pushing us forward. [Isaac] And that's crucial 'cause husbands if you get off track, and you're not listening to God and you're in the flesh, and you just go and do something, it could be catastrophic for your family. And I have an experience where we went all in on a business venture, and it failed. And we lost everything financially for a period of time. And that was my responsibility. Now, my wife faithfully supported me, followed me through the challenges, and through the good times but that was directly a cost of me being confused and not paying attention to what God wanted. [Aaron] Oh, it's awesome that you can you can see that. And for those that are listening can learn from what you guys walked through. So that gift that God gave you, that that resource that he's given you that story is now a testimony that can warn other believers. [Angie] Yeah, we have lots of stories like that was a good story [Isaac] Oh, we do. Winning and losing. [Angie] That's right. [Jennifer] Speaking of winning, what are kingdom benefits of dreaming together and setting goals? [Isaac] Well, I think the first Kingdom benefit is your kids are watching everything you're doing. And if you're trusting God, and surrendering everything to God and working as a team together, you're modeling for them for their future marriages because what we're raising future adults, right? [Angie] That's right, yeah. And we also want them to see us pursuing God's dreams and His visions and being workers in His fields also. And so, right now with Courageous Parenting, this is a new thing that we're working together in ministry, I've been doing it for many years. And Isaac, of course, was always a missionary wherever he was, but now we're full in with Courageous Parenting. And it's a different feel around the house, everybody is involved, everybody helps out in some way from Austin helping to edit podcasts to Megan helping with the baby, and it's just, and they're behind it. That's the cool thing is that they see the vision because they wanna see other parents get impacted and they are constantly encouraging us too so. [Isaac] And I think if God is for something, it's gonna have some impact on the kingdom of God and so that's the fruit too. [Aaron] And so it's constantly saying, Okay, Lord, what do you want? Here's what we have and here's ideas that we have. How does this work into your plan? [Angie] It's really about stewardship. Actually, all of the goal setting and everything is all about stewarding. I love that. Our hearts, our lives, our children, Our resources. [Angie] All our resources. And so I remember when we had the vineyard before we planted and cultivated the vineyard in our other property, we would look out at this field and go, what should we plant there? And we would pray about it, we'd dream about it. And we thought, all different kinds of ideas. And we did have a vision for hosting weddings there one day and different things like that. But God moved us on to a different vision which I'm glad that we're here. It was definitely God's will for us to move, but yeah. [Aaron] So, I think of this, I can't remember the how the quote exactly goes but the answer is no to 100% of the questions you never asked, right. [Isaac] Yeah. [Aaron] Because like if you don't ask her you can't get a yes or no. So it's just a no. And I feel like that's how we should see this idea of dreaming as a couple as marriages for the kingdom of God and saying, okay, Lord, we have this amount of resources, we have these relationships, we have these talents and gifts that you've given us. Man, we could do this, we combine this, and just throw it all out, and then start praying over it which is what how we we direct the readers and what to do when they dream. And then start making actions. So what's a practical way that you guys dream and then plan, like okay, here's a dream and we've actually feel like this is where God's leading us [Angie] Always involves a whiteboard. [Aaron] Turn aways because they are-- [Isaac] Whiteboard or journal, I think you start on a whiteboard, afterwards ends up on a whiteboard. But yeah, I think it's so important to get things on paper, pray over it, of course, and then really vet it out and have some action steps towards it and understand each other's roles. There was some dreams where Angie's role was to praise and be supportive and take care of the family while I was doing something. There's other dreams we've done where we're both very, very active and immersed together in it. [Angie] And then there were times where Isaac would take care of the kids so that I could write and he was more active with the kids in the vineyard and taking that on, and then I would pull back away from that once that project was done. And I was all in and he would be able to slip away more towards work. And so it's kind of a dance. [Isaac] But it's so important. [Aaron] I love that idea of a dance. [Isaac] Dance, so important to have good communication, though, because things are constantly moving. [Aaron] I think a part of that good communication is having end zones. Small, like if it was just an indefinite like, hey, you're gonna watch the kids and I'm gonna write, and who knows when, that wouldn't be a healthy season. [Angie] No, you do have to have boundaries. [Aaron] So, you set boundaries and then it wouldn't be how easy is it of, if Isaac said, hey, I'm gonna be working 12 hour days for the next, who knows how long and let's see what happens. That wouldn't be a healthy. [Isaac] Here's a super important point to that which is husbands when you set a deadline for how long the sacrifice is gonna be, you better deliver. Because if you go past that deadline, your wife is gonna lose trust for you as you dream together-- [Aaron] Track record. [Isaac] There's a cost. [Aaron] You wanna have good track records within this process. [Jennifer] Any want your word to be as good as gold. [Angie] Yeah, that's awesome and what I'm thinking when you guys are sharing all this is details. So when you're writing this down when you're making an action plan or strategy put some details and dates and times, and very specific things that will help guide these boundaries. [Aaron] That's good baby. [Isaac] That's was really good. [Aaron] So, as we come to a close, I want to ask you, it's so easy to just say, We're gonna be big dreamers and big planners, and we're gonna get all these practical steps and... What is the foundational perspective biblically that we should have in all of this because the Bible talks about planning. [Angie] And He talks a lot about our marriage, I think it comes down to what our marriages really for, God. [Isaac] To glorify God. [Angie] It's not about us. And so when you realize that your marriage isn't about you, and that it's meant to be a light to the world, and that you are bearing God's image to them, your perspective changes and that's for all of us. It doesn't matter what you're doing for work or if you're in ministry, we are all part of the body of Christ. And we all-- We're all in ministry, this is our, yeah. Exactly. Everyone is a missionary wherever they are. They're all lights and ambassadors. [Isaac] Yeah, it's to fulfill the greatest, the Great Commission, and to glorify God in everything we do, and we've always believed that the things we're gonna do, it's gotta have some kind of positive impact on people. And that doesn't need because every-- [Aaron] When you say positive, do you mean like in a faith way and in a biblical way? [Isaac] In a biblical, faith focused way. And I'm not saying everybody, every goal has to be like that. But I've had goals that weren't, like investing in resources, and I lost deeply. And I did not get my wife's approval. [Aaron] That's for another podcast. [Isaac] It's for another but I just want to warn you that God is in control, and we should fear Him, and not the world. And really obey him by our actions. [Angie] I think too, we mentioned stewardship, and one of the verses that comes to mind is about our treasures and building treasures in heaven. And I think that as we're setting goals as a couple, and we're remembering these foundational truths about marriage that we keep in the back of our minds that we're building for Him, and we're building for the kingdom of God in heaven because we're partnering with Him and the Great Commission and-- [Isaac] So good. [Angie] And that we're gonna experience pushback because whenever you do something that God's calling you to do, you're gonna experience some pushback. We have enemies, we have our own flesh And God cares about our sanctity through the process of the journey of life as well and so hard dreams are good because they bring out those things that need to be sanctified in you. [Isaac] Yeah, I mean, often I have said if you're not salty, you might not even realize there's a battle. But if you are salty, you're fully aware because you feel it. And there is a spiritual battle at hand. And as you press in and set goals together and try, and do things for God's glory, there is an enemy that hates that. The good news is God is way more powerful. but you need to be aware, and you need to pray. [Aaron] So, do you guys, in all of these conversations we have there just can be an inkling of, well, that's good for you. And I understand that God's got this call because we use this idea of call. Is there anyone in the body of Christ that's exempt from the things you're talking about? [Isaac] Not at all, you could be doing any position, it be in any kind of circumstances, any kind of financial situation. And it's the same truth for every married couple. [Angie] And the reason why is because God wants people, He wants their hearts, He wants to be reconciled to everyone. And so He may place you in a place that's really hard. But I think that God would ask of you to think big, think and view them the way He views them, and would He want you to have a goal or a dream that's gonna impact that other co-worker that's in the cubicle next to you. [Isaac] I would also say there's nothing worse than when you go out to dinner and you see couples not talking to each other, or looking at their phones, ignoring each other. And that potentially, is because they're not making progress together and doing things for God as a team. [Aaron] And I feel like, Jen, you might be able to speak into this a little bit, that setting, you said heavenly treasure like treasures in heaven, treasures above. The Bible tells us to look above to think on things above and not on things that on earth, and setting goals and pursuing heavenly things and always looking up. When I think of those couples that are sitting and not looking each other, it's because they are only looking in one direction, which is down, because we're not up, we are of the Earth currently. And I feel like that pursuing as a marriage, do you feel like as we consistently look up, it keeps our focuses off of us? [Angie] Yeah, yeah, totally. [Aaron] And that's what we wanna encourage everyone listening is this isn't just because we want plan that million dollar orphanage in another country that might be absolutely someone's calling in, and we gotta ask for them. But it's just the fact that we have we a heavenly calling. All of us as believers, we were part of the body of Christ. And that body is doing something and it's it's led by the by the head Jesus. [Jennifer] We all have gifts and to know those gifts in one another and call them out and say, hey, have you ever thought of like, I would have never even started a blog if it wasn't for Isaac starting it for me and saying here, you should write. I mean that's really your gift. [Isaac] You use your gift, here you go. [Angie] He kind of did that. I mean, this was way back before we had cellphones. He was crazy about the internet just came out sponsor. [Aaron] Oh man. [Isaac] Man, I think what happened is I said, you should start a blog, and you're like, oh, no. Some of you should start a blog, oh, no. Okay, I'm starting a blog, and I started a blog. [Angie] You edited it. [Isaac] And I started a blog, and I'm writing, I'm writing and the only reason I started a blog was so that she was started blog. And that's how she started hers. [Jennifer] Did he buy a book? That is actually, no. [Jennifer] That's awesome, before we wrap up, I really want our listeners to benefit from your guys' wisdom on parenting. And so I just wanna ask the question, how have you guys incorporated dreaming together as a family with your children? [Isaac] I think it's so important to include your kids in the process. It's fun. It is really fun. And one of the interesting things is that everybody has New Year plans and so forth. We just started start those more toward November going into the new year. And what we do is we run a session with the kids and we go, how did this year go? We have them. [Aaron] Is there a whiteboard involved? There's a whiteboard. Yes. [Isaac] And we have them rate the different areas of life, spiritual. [Angie] How did they do in that category? [Isaac] Yeah and we talked about it. And then then we do another session where they set intentions for the new year. And we just still got the-- [Aaron] I like intensions, it's better than resolutions. [Isaac] Yeah, intentions is good. [Angie] It good intentions and Isaac always takes a picture after they have shared what they are, and takes a picture so that he can put it up on the screen the next year. And he also kind of texts us randomly throughout the year goes, how are you doing on your goals? [Jennifer] Wow, [Angie] It's really for-- [Jennifer] Seriously, that's awesome. [Angie] Yeah, our oldest daughter, Kelsey, is at college and she actually just texted me a picture of her goals that are on her wall next to her bed. That was a huge win. So even like, all the kids really enjoy it, even our three year olds had goals this year to stay potty trained and get candy. [Isaac] What's awesome for that is-- [Jennifer] I would like to get candy bars. [Isaac] When they rate different areas of their life. It's so neat to see all the kids in the family rallying for them, no, you're more like an A, you are not a C. You're not-- [Isaac] It's awesome. [Angie] It was really encouraging because they would all give feedback and and say, oh, well, have you thought about this goal? And they would like add on to it and so it was really fun. [Isaac] Self evaluation is an incredible gift. [Jennifer] And it sounds like it doesn't matter what age children? [Angie] No, I mean, Eli was with us and he's four months old That's awesome. He was adamant. Sometimes in our age. [Angie] Self training. [Aaron] Taking solid foods, stay cute. [Jennifer] Awesome, thank you guys so much for your insight there. I know that it just is blessing everyone, everyone's probably gonna wanna redo all their-- Resolutions. --new goals for 2019. Okay, so the last question we have for you is, in your own words, what is a marriage after God? [Angie] Well, I think that we kind of talked a little bit about it before, just that our marriage would reveal the image of God to everyone, to our children to the world around us. And that we'd be striving to one another. One of the images that comes to my mind is in life trials because we have definitely experienced those in 19 years of marriage. When you're both chasing after God or running after him in that hard time I think you're gonna meet there and you're gonna be stronger versus if you're-- [Isaac] Stronger together. [Angie] Versus like if a husband loses a job or a wife is ill, or you could name whatever trial you're walking through, if one person starts working harder to fix the problem versus running to God first, there's a difference in how your marriage is revealed to your kids and the strength of marriage. [Isaac] And then when we say our wedding vows, almost everybody has in their wedding vows or some part of the marriage ceremony is to become one flesh. And do you really believe that? Well, if you do, then you're going to treat your bride or your husband like they are yourself. Because we really do become one. And when you become one, like Angie said, you become way more powerful for the impact for the kingdom of God. And we've always held that as the most important vision. [Jennifer] Well that was incredible. I could just listen to you guys all night, and that's awesome. [Isaac] Well, if people want to, they can go find them at courageousparenting.com, or through their podcast, Courageous Parenting but you can get anywhere podcasts are. And they should definitely go check out their podcast because we don't talk nearly enough about parenting. And that's all they talk about, like this. They talked about the painting like-- [Jennifer] This is we glean all of our needed parenting. [Aaron] You guys have blessed us over the years by your gift of knowledge and parenting, your wisdom in parenting. And so we've been totally blessed by that. So not just the planning stuff that we've seen in your life, but all aspects of your life we've been blessed by, so thank you for honoring us and blessing us by coming on our show. [Isaac] We've been so blessed by your friendship and love what's happening with the ministry here. [Aaron] Yeah, thank you. [Jennifer] I also wanna mention you guys are really active on social media. So where can people find you if they wanna follow you daily? [Isaac] Courageous Parenting and-- [Angie] Courageous Mom. [Isaac] And Resolute Man. [Angie] Yeah, so on Instagram, that's where we're the most active for sure, I'm courageous.mom and he's resolute.man. And then on Facebook. [Aaron] Awesome, so, at the end of every episode, we end in prayer. So if you guys wanna join me in prayer? [Isaac] Yeah. [Aaron] Dear Lord, we pray would be husbands and wives who dream together. We pray the dreams and the goals that we consider are ones that you put in our hearts. We desire to be used by you to fulfill your purposes. We wanna build your kingdom and not our own. And we remember to submit our plans to you always. There are things that we dream up that need to wait or need to be pushed aside, please help us to be humble. Help us to let go of any pride so that we don't pursue what of we want but instead only what you want. May we experience intimacy in marriage as we intentionally consider all that you have for us. We also pray we would have fun as we do this as a team for your glory. In Jesus name. [All] Amen. [Aaron] So, we just wanna thank everyone for listening. This has been part 13 in this 16 part series. There's a couple more, there's a few more awesome interviews coming up. So, I hope have you guys next week. Thank you for joining us. Did you enjoy today's show? This podcast is here to give you the answer.   Join me and follow along as I learn, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business, using only today's best internet sales funnels.   My name is Steve Larsen and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio.   What's up, guys?   Hey. Alright. Right off the get go, okay, just gotta tell you I'm probably gonna offend some people, and I'm gonna speak a lot of opinions on this thing, but I wanna share with you guys really how I was able to get through like the first year or two of failing entrepreneurship.   There's nothing wrong with being in that failure zone, by the way, right. I think that's one of the things that people get self-conscious about. They're like, "I'm not a successful entrepreneur yet, or I've been going in the game for a while now, and I haven't really made anything." I totally get it, first of all.   In college, my wife and I, we were freaking poor. I mean, we just, we were literally living paycheck to paycheck, but really it was loan to loan. Because like I was just getting student loans.   I was supposed to get paid by the Army, and through some stupid crap, I ended up getting paid half of what I was supposed to the entire time I was in it. And so I was like crap, "I at least wanted some security with that vehicle, with that job, right, of being in the Army." And it wasn't that way.   And I will tell you, looking back, that was one of the biggest blessings I've ever had in my entire life. The fact that we did not have enough, okay, the fact that we did not have any money.   What happened was when we first got married, a lot of you guys know the story, right. I found out that my lady was eating one meal a day behind my back just because we didn't have enough cash - and I didn't realize that she was doing that. That really cut me to the core.   I kept coming home every day, I was like, "Why, she's still in bed?" I was like, you know, "What's up, you okay?" and she's like, "Yeah. Oh, it's nothing."   She's already been graduated - I wasn't graduated yet. And I'd come back the next day, and she'd still be in bed. We had just barely gotten married like a few weeks ahead of time, and I was like, "Is it me? What's up, you okay? Are you alright?" And she's like, "No, no, it's totally fine. It's totally fine. We're good."   And I'd come back the next day, the same thing. Next day, same thing. Next day, same thing. It was like, "What is going on?" She told me that she'd only been eating one meal a day and as a man, that wrecks you. Right? That'll destroy anybody, but especially most men tend to get their identity based on what they do.   Many women tend to get their identity based on their environment. That's a huge stereotype.   So for me, it wrecked me, okay.  I was super, super sad about everything that was going on. Not just sad, but like, my self-esteem dropped. I was having a hard time functioning in classes knowing that my wife was so weak at home, and I was in classes. I mean, really think about that.   The scenario was really, really intense.   So about two years prior, I was living in North Carolina. I was on one of those missions - I was one of those missionaries riding a bike around. We talked to a bunch of people - I was one of those guys in a suit, tie, little badge. I mean, I'm sure you guys have seen them around, right? I loved it, great time of my life...   Well, I was put in a lot of spots and a lot of areas where it was people's sole plan to live on food stamps. It was their plan, and they literally would not show up to work so they couldn't make enough money so that they could get on food stamps.   That, in my opinion, is extremely wrong.   I know this is where I'm gonna ruffle feathers. But if you don't like it, this is my channel, you can leave. I'm gonna tell you what I think. Capitalist pig baby, alright, here we come. Okay, here we go... I'm gonna be sensitive to this 'cause there are tons of people who need it, and that's great. But when it's your freakin' plan to suck on other people's hard work, I do not agree with that. The door is right over there, actually! And I'm serious about that.   With that mindset, of seeing tens of thousands of people where that was their plan, okay, I was like what? Like, you're going to go on welfare, that is your career path?   I'm just letting you guys know, that's my backstory, that was where I was coming in from to the scenario with my wife from. The scenario of, "I will never do that." If I get hurt, if something happens to me, sure. If I need it, legitimately, but after I've done everything that I can. That's my personal opinion on it.   I think it is wrong to have a plan that way. You're getting something for nothing, I don't agree with it.   So again, if I've offended you, I'm sorry, but I'm not sorry. I really believe that.   So I came into our new marriage, our relationship, with that mindset. And I'm like holy crap. I need to do something now. I just didn't know, I had no idea that's what was going on.   And so the moment I found out, first of all, it crushed me, and then I had several choices...   And I am so thankful for how I chose. I try not to get emotional on this one, okay. It was one of the hardest things I've ever gone through in my life. I called my dad, and he taught me... I worked multiple jobs my entire childhood, okay. I started mowing lawns when I was eight years old. I know how to work, and I know how to work hard.   I know how to do crap that I don't want to do. Which is a huge lesson of itself. That's totally thanks to my dad, he's the man, he's totally taught me everything on that, okay.   When I got into college, I called my dad, and I was like "Hey," (super not with the culture of how I was raised), I was like, "Hey, could you give me money?" And he said "No."   A lot of you guys have heard this story here, but I'm just giving a little more detail behind it because of where I'm trying to take us. Just follow me here for a second...   He said "No." He said, "If I give you this money, you will not exhaust the resources you didn't know you had." That's huge. That's huge. That's when he told me that.   I was like, "Oh, crap!" So my back's against the wall, and I was like, you know what, I'm gonna make this. I can go get on welfare stamps... we certainly qualify for that. I could go get loans. I could get a job, but then I'm probably gonna do bad in my classes.   What's hard is in a college town, people were working for $3 an hour just because there's so much labor available. Everyone's trying to get jobs. And that's totally accurate.   My wife got a job finally, after trying super hard trying to find something, for $3.50 an hour. $3.50 an hour! Dude, guys, crap was hitting the fan. You understand?   When people are like, "We don't have any money," like, I get it, okay, I have been there. Or like, "I don't have any time," - I was in college, I eventually joined the Army, we had kids - freaking I had no time either. And I get it, and I get it...   And the answer is to not, don't turn on freaking Netflix. You gotta look at your discretionary time and where you're spending it and squeeze every ounce of it out that you can.   And the choices that I had, I could get food stamps, I could get loans, I could get a job... but that probably wouldn't even pay for our bills anyway. So I was like, "Crap. We can't even get a freaking job for more than $3 an hour." That was legit. Which means I couldn't do anything in class anymore. I was like I gotta do something...   My wife, she went and she started looking into this WIC program which is like food stamps. And she looked into it. She and I had a conversation, and it was very, very challenging. We were like, "What if we don't get on the food stamps?"   I'm not saying that people don't need it. But what I'm saying is the willingness to go through it and figure it out without taking the out. Man, that will turn you into something you're not...   And so, we decided we wouldn't take them - which was very challenging. It meant additional suffering, you understand? It meant additional, being willing to go through crap.   When people tell me things like, "I don't have time." Bull crap, I don't believe you. "I don't have money," - then you've not become resourceful yet.   I actually feel so thankful when people are like, "I don't have enough money," - like "Oh good, you have a trial. Good. Lean into it." I'm so thankful for the scenario that you're in. That's how I feel about it.   They're like, "Oh, I don't know how to do this?" Perfect, YouTube it. "I don't know how to do this, I don't know how to do that, I don't have enough money." I'm like, "Oh my gosh." Like, you gotta call your own BS out. Because I have like "this much" sympathy.   It's one thing to be in active pursuit and fail, fail, fail, fail, fail, fail, fail, right... Then I want to swoop in and be like, "Alright, structure this way and do it this way." It is only because I've done it 100 times, right. Out of desperation. You know how much crap you figure out when you got a few minutes for.   Case in point, right. I remember when I was in basic training, which certainly, there are far more intense programs than basic training, I understand that. But we were in a special scenario. We were in the last spot on the base where there had not been renovated yet.   It was really far away from any kind of mess hall, any chow hall. And so they had to drive the food into us.   Well, a lot of the time they wouldn't end up actually driving any food into us. We couldn't actually go to any chow hall. So we ended up getting about half of the calories of everybody else who was in basic. It was crazy.   There'd be like a pancake, little tiny sausage, and there'd be like half an egg because that's all the truck could fit in to feed any entire 200 person platoon.   Man, I lost 15 pounds I did not have at that time. I got wicked skinny. And oh man, it was so, so challenging, right. Going through that kind of garbage, super, super helpful. Really, really helpful when you start going through those things.   What I'm trying to say is, I have learned to be thankful for the trial - not that I always remember to be thankful in the middle of it - that's very, very different.   What I'm trying to help you guys understand and see is that whatever the trial is, whatever the challenge is...   And that's one of the reasons why I went into the Army. It was part of my, it was part of what I, "I'm gonna be a tough guy," right. I wanna go do that. Yell at me, I want that. Let me throw some grenades. Let me like shoot some machine guns and stuff. I wanted that kind of thing. And I did for a long time and most of my childhood...   But it also became the way to get paid.   But then we get in, and we find out that we're only gonna get half of what we're actually promised. I was like, "We're still in the freaking same situation. What is going on?"   But now I've lost half of my time again because if I'm not doing full-time school, like 14 credits, I am doing Army crap. "How do we eat?" It was years of that. Years of it.   I decided that I would lean in. There were some things that happened to me and some mentalities that were taught to me by being in the Army, by being in uncomfortable scenarios that taught me to lean in.   We say, "Embrace the suck!" all the time. "Embrace the suck." Embrace the suck, right. And that's totally what I started learning how to do.   So while we were just barely surviving, the loans luckily came in. I mean we were down to... like sometimes it was super tight. And then the next semester worth of loans would come in, and I'd be like, "Oh gosh, oh thank you."   It was a huge deal for me to go and get a $97 subscription to ClickFunnels every month. It was a huge deal for me to try and find a way to get to Funnel Hacking Live. It was a huge deal for me. Does that make sense?   It was a very stressful scenario... And it was prolonged! It's not like it was short. We leaned into it. It was three years before my funnels started working - before all the things started...   I remember I got that first $1500 check. It was not a lot, but like, on a monthly basis- 'cause I built these funnels for companies, and they were working, and I was like "Oh my gosh. Babe, let's like, take a drive somewhere. We can afford the gas." You know what I mean.   I was so elated. That changed everything. Just a thousand bucks a month. It's like, "Oh my gosh, this is so crazy." It was so nuts.   I'm a very introspective pattern driven individual- so now, looking back... Obviously, hindsight's 20/20 - but I want to encourage you to not study food stamps. I wanna encourage you to study money.   Don't study food stamps, study money.   And funny enough, I had to do that outside of college, even though I was in a marketing degree. I was in getting a business degree in marketing. And I was like, "I'm not learning how to make money here." And what's funny, the training is not, it's typically not vocational training. It's not any kind of training that's out there or any courses or any classes or anything like that.   Colleges don't teach you how to make money - they don't know how to make money. Most of the time, teachers, you know what I mean, they're not making much either. They can't teach you that. Don't learn from poor people how to make money. That's stupid.   You gotta look outside of your network most of the time to start learning how to make money.   The scariest moments come when you don't know what to do next. I have been there on a yearly basis. I did that for a while. There are two quotes that I like a lot. One of them is by Julian Barnes, which I think is like the same Barnes as Barnes and Noble Barnes, which is awesome.   It says, "The more you learn, the less you fear. The more you learn, the less you fear."   It's actually written on my wall over there. "The more you learn, the less you fear." And so what I decided to do was to get obsessed over the study of money.   I decided to do that shortly after joining the Army and realizing that I was only gonna make half of what I was told I was supposed to. It was very frustrating. Very frustrating.   But I decided to make, I decided to study money. Which meant I had to look in places that were not obvious in front of me.   And that's when I started actively seeking money making guys out, and that's when I first ran into a guy named Russell... and I was like "He looks like he's 12 years old, should I even believe what he's saying? Does he know?"   And that's when I started getting in the habit of learning from rich people. "How do I make money?" I'm not gonna ask poor people that. That's like going to the gym and asking someone overweight how to lose weight. I hate that.   Anyway, so what I'm trying to say is "the more you learn, the less you fear."   Most of the time, people just don't know how a dollar's actually made. We know how to do that very traditionally from our parents with a "time for dollar model," but when you learn how to do a "value for dollar model," - that's the model to go study.   The other one I really like is; "Competence leads to confidence."   Competence leads to confidence. And that's the whole purpose of this episode, and the only reason why I'm saying this is because we just launched the Affiliate Outrage program. It's completely free.   The reason I did it is because affiliate marketing is great training wheels for the business game in general. You don't have to worry about making the product. You just worry about what actually sells stuff.   Most of the time I see people, and they're like, "Yeah, I'm gonna go learn how to do this game, what product can I sell?" Wrong question!   Ask, "What's the sales message that sells? What's the sales message that sells?" And then worry about the product.   That's why I like affiliate marketing because the product side's taken care of for you. You can just focus on the sales message. You can just focus on marketing - just sell.   Just because somebody made the product does not mean you get to skip creating the marketing.   That's why I like affiliate marketing. It's like training wheels for this game.   So that's why I launched Affiliate Outrage. Affiliate Outrage is free. Affliliateoutrage.com. There's no upsells, nothing else in there. It'll get you off the ground and doing this kind of stuff.   I also launched the OfferMind. Almost 400 tickets already are out for that - which is crazy cool. I'm excited to see you guys here in Boise soon.   I gave away free tickets when you guys bought Russell's new book through my affiliate link, just as a thank you - which is awesome. I'm trying to do a few free things.   My customer who I really serve, I charge 30 grand a day to go in, set up, and design the actual sales message, design the offer, design the actual funnel, right.   I don't build the funnel, but I create all the assets ahead of time. I charge 150 grand to do it for actual.   My customer who I actually serve and exchange with - they're expensive because I'm good, and my crap works - I know it does... And you have hopefully seen that.   ...But I don't want to neglect the fact that I have an affinity for, I have empathy... because I've been there in the trenches. You're still in the mud, and you're like, "That extra $1000 would change my life." I know, I have been there. And so that's the reason why I've been doing these different things.   So if there's anything I can... It's out of passion - this episode.   I want you to obsess over the study of money.   It's not normal - it's not taught. You don't stumble on the study of money. The fastest ways for you to learn how to make cash - study marketing. That's why I sink my teeth into it. Marketing is the activity where money gets exchanged.   Money is the by-product of marketing. That's why I study marketing. That's why I'm a marketer. That's why I'll always be a marketer. I'm a marketer first before any product I'm actually selling. Always, marketer. I am a marketer. I am excited about that.   That does not mean logos. Does not mean color schemes, slogans, business cards. That's not marketing.   It doesn't even mean Facebook Ads. Facebook Ads, that's not marketing.   And if you're like what are you talking about? That's exactly why I'm saying you need to study it... That's not marketing.   Anyway, so, what I'm trying to say is: if you're in that phase, first of all, I feel ya. I've been there. I was there for years. I totally get it. I want you to lean into the challenge. I want you to lean in to and let it sculpt you.   Many of you would not follow me if I did not have the background that I do. That's super key to understand. Be willing to live the very hook that you are going through. You are the future hook.   The fact that I went through 17 businesses before one went off - that's so bonding. That lets me be followable.   Understand that even if something's not working, you are still crafting the foundation and framework for you to get massively paid in the future. Lean in is what I'm telling you. Lean in.   I got that coin on my desk, many of you've seen it now. It's: "the obstacle is the way." The coin says: "The obstacle is the way - The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way." That's what the coins says. It's one of my favorite quotes. It stays on my desk for that reason.   Whatever I know I need to be doing, but it looks the most sucky - that's what I make sure I lean into.   So I'm begging you not to study how to game this food stamp way. Don't study food stamps. Study money. Study how money gets made.   Funny enough, I have the biggest time getting over the internal hurdles about studying money for the longest time. I felt like I was being greedy.   It's really weird when I look back to when I read the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad, which I'm sure many of you have... Rich Dad, Poor Dad, is like the gateway drug for most entrepreneurs - it totally was for me. That and like Four Hour Work Week and a few others.   But anyways, Rich Dad, Poor Dad talked about three asset classes. There's business, there's paper assets, and real estate, or real assets in general. Those are the three.   This was my thought: "I'm not gonna go do business because I don't want to be greedy, I'm not greedy." That was literally my belief pattern, guys. You understand like only five years ago. Seven. I remember when I read that. Seven years ago. That was my belief pattern:   "I'm not going into business because I don't want to be greedy."   How stupid of a belief is that? Right? Plus, "I'm not really a professional guy. I don't even own a briefcase." I don't really like to put suits on too often. I'm not wearing shoes right now. I don't like to in general. That was my belief. How stupid, how stupid? That's a dumb belief.   Learn to call out the BS that you're telling yourself.   So I was like man, I'm gonna go into the financial markets area, and I borrowed 15 grand to go through these courses. I found out down the road that they knew they were outdated strategies... and I was like, "Oh, that's exciting."   Then I went into real estate. Not business 'cause I don't want to be greedy. That was my thought. That was the reason, you guys. That was literally the reason.   Then I was like, "Fine we'll do the business game, but I'll just go do sales 'cause I don't wanna make a product. I don't wanna be the entrepreneur 'cause entrepreneurship..."   I actually had my wife tell me about three months into marriage, she said: "How come every time someone starts to ask you what you want to do and it's entrepreneurship, you're like really weird about it?"   It'd be fun actually to bring her in. I can hear her vacuuming right now, if you can pick it up on the mic, you probably can.   She's with our kids, she's awesome. Total rockstar. She's incredible. Sacrificed like crazy for all of us. And inadvertently for the rest of you as well. She's amazing. She'll be at funnel hacking live, I'm really excited. She's gonna come this year.   I am super stoked about all this game. I'm excited for all this stuff. I want you to understand this game.   When I started coaching, especially when I started coaching a lot of two comma club coaching, stuff like that, if you guys are in those programs. I went in with the anticipation and with the belief that I would be coaching people on marketing. I spent maybe 40% of the time actually coaching on marketing.   I had no idea that I would be spending the majority of my coaching time on just people's mentalities and their beliefs and their attitudes towards money. That's been the big massive hurdle.   I'm like "You can do this.” They're like "I'm not good enough." "You can do it." "Okay, maybe I'm a little bit good enough." I'm like, "You can do this." "Alright, fine, I'll go do it."   I do that kind of crap more.  I shouldn't call it crap. I'm not saying it's crap. Stuff. I do that kind of stuff way more than talking about marketing strategies.   I had no idea that I had done those things to myself along the way to even pull off the marketing strategies that I teach and do.   So I'm trying to help you understand. If there's anything that you can study to really make you move forward, you gotta study money.  Don't study the way out.   There's an amazing quote by Will Smith, he says, “There's no reason for plan B because it distracts from plan A." Totally agree with that. I don't have a plan B, "I'm all in on A, baby." I just want a plan A, that's it. I don't want a plan B. I don't even want to think about a plan B.   Too many times people are like, "What's plan A? What's plan B? What's plan C?" Like, that's freaking distracting: "Well, I'll go try this entrepreneurship game. If it doesn't work out, we can always do food stamps."   If you think about it, it is very hard to fail in this country. It's extremely challenging to fail in America. I could get government housing, I could get food stamps.   You are not going to die. It's hard to die. You have to try. There are so many freaking safeties in our society now. Mediocrity is celebrated:   "You're good enough, you're trying, you're doing everything. Just be happy with where you are." Bull crap! No, I don't want the mediocre life. And I don't want you to get seduced by that mindset.   Mediocrity is celebrated and it's very hard to fail truly in our society. There are so many lock aids, you could do bankruptcy, you could do government housing, you could do the food stamps, there's a lot of things you can do before you really truly actually hit rock bottom in America.   But because of that, people get soft in their heads -they got no discipline in their head. Man, I'm totally on a soap box now. Reeling it in, baby. Here it comes:   It is very, very, very, very easy to win in this game now. It's so easy for me to dominate. It's shocking!   I was voxxing Dave Woodward the other day. It was like two nights ago. I just won the affiliate contest for 30 Days -which is exciting. How cool is that? ...Using the exact same principles, I teach you guys. And I won that contest by a lot, which is fun and very, very exciting.   And I was voxxing him, and he goes, "Hey, congrats man. That was really cool. You could do a whole course just based off of what you did here because that was brilliant." And I was like "Hey, thanks man, I really appreciate that." I said, “You know what's fascinating…” and I told him exactly what I just told you guys:   "I thought I'd be teaching all this marketing stuff. I can't even get people to that part because it's so in their heads."   There's such a lack of discipline. It is so easy to dominate in this space because of the lack of discipline.   If you have the smallest inkling of being able to go through things that are just a little uncomfortable you're gonna be fine, you're gonna be fine.   I encourage all of you guys to start orchestrating challenging things in your life to callous the mind.   I invite you to lean in to your obstacles. I invite you to say, "You know what, I'm totally cool with a little bit of discomfort in my life. I'm willing to experience voluntary pain." Not like a freaking masochist...   I'm saying, "What things which are not comfortable can you orchestrate in your life to get going and moving off the ground?"   This was as much about studying money rather than food stamps as anything else. Right, just being willing to just run forth and be uncomfortable along the whole way.   Okay, I feel like I'm opening a different can. I just opened one can and that was a good can. Just drink that down, I'm ready to come over here to another can, but I'm not gonna keep going here.   I just want you to know, like I want you to feel me on this, "Do not study the out. Do not study plan B." Who cares? "Don't study food stamps. Study money."     Be willing to go through stuff that's a little challenging. If you're going through it, I applaud you. I'm excited for you because of what it will let you do in the future.   If you let it, it can sculpt you into something you could not have become on your own.   Anyway, this is a bit of a firey episode, but I'm totally against people planning for plan B. I don't agree with it at all. I think it's stupid.   It's like, "Man, well, maybe, you know, I'll go get in the Olympics but, you know, instead I could just go be blah..."   You're literally trying to plan "the out." I don't give my customers the out because I know my products are good. I don't give myself the out.   I know I've talked a lot about Darren Hardy. You know he's got a good book, Willpower Doesn't Work. Really, it's environment. So I orchestrate events, things in my life, things that are uncomfortable with the purposeful intention of getting uncomfortable.   Willpower doesn't work. If your like, "Hey, I'm gonna go will myself into becoming this person Steve was talking about." Uh-uh!   That's why we invite you to buy other coaching and products and things like that because you need an environment. Environment is where things really switch, not willpower.   Willpower's like a muscle. It will literally actually fail after a while.   Anyway, hey guys, I appreciate you guys taking the time, and I appreciate you guys being here.   Thanks for letting me have a little bit of real talk with this. This has been a fun episode. This is one I've been wanting to say for quite a while. Do not study food stamps, study money.   Those kinds of things are what actively increase you as an individual.   The personal development you experience through entrepreneurship is ridiculous, better than any personal development course I've ever taken in my entire life. Entrepreneurship.   Anyway, guys, thank so much. Appreciate ya, love ya all, and very much think about where you guys are because I've been there and I have a lot of empathy for it.   A lot of you guys are extremely successful too, which is great. You've probably have resonated with a few things I've ranted about here. Anyway, guys, thanks so much. I'll see you guys at the OfferMind - those of you who are coming.   And go through Affiliate Outrage program if you wanna learn more about kinda the training wheels of marketing itself. Things to get paid for,  but not get distracted over product creation.   And I will see you guys next episode. Please, please, please, share and review the episode. It helps me a lot, and I actually do go read the reviews. They keep me motivated.   Hey, thanks for listening. Many don't know that I actually made my first money online as an affiliate marketer. If you wanna know how I funded my entire company without using any of my own money EVER, you can learn to do the same for free at AffiliateOutrage.com
