Animal flesh eaten as food

Food is medicine isn't a slogan—it's how our bodies are designed to heal. My guest today, Autumn Smith, knows that better than anyone. After overcoming years of digestive and mental health struggles, she co-founded Paleo Valley and Wild Pastures to help others access truly nutrient-dense food. On this episode of The Dr. Hyman Show, we explore how regenerative farming restores both soil and human health, why food quality matters as much as food choice, and how regeneratively raised animal foods can contain the same healing compounds we find in plants. Watch the full conversation on YouTube or listen wherever you get your podcasts. You'll learn: • How to tell if your meat is truly regenerative • What labels like grass-fed, grass-finished, and regenerative really mean • Why soil health directly impacts your nutrient intake • Easy ways to lower inflammation through better fats • Affordable steps to eat well and support the planet When we heal the soil, we heal ourselves—and that change starts with what's on your plate https://wildpastures.com/ https://paleovalley.com/ View Show Notes From This Episode Get Free Weekly Health Tips from Dr. Hyman https://drhyman.com/pages/picks?utm_campaign=shownotes&utm_medium=banner&utm_source=podcast Sign Up for Dr. Hyman's Weekly Longevity Journal https://drhyman.com/pages/longevity?utm_campaign=shownotes&utm_medium=banner&utm_source=podcast Join the 10-Day Detox to Reset Your Health https://drhyman.com/pages/10-day-detox Join the Hyman Hive for Expert Support and Real Results https://drhyman.com/pages/hyman-hive This episode is brought to you by Paleovalley, Sunlighten, Function Health, Fatty15, Big Bold Health and Pique. Intro -Dave Welcome back to another episode of Let's Go Hunt, the only hunting podcast (rumored to be) sponsored by ICE Mike Gonçalves slayer of cobra chickens. Sam Alexander - beer commander Vince H, who has been up to nothing and likes to lie on the internet And I'm, Dave Packard, the opposite of Ray Charles Around the Campfire Tonight: It's getting cooler, but I think it's false fall and I hate it Warheads on Foreheads with Mike https://www.outdoorlife.com/survival/elk-hunter-attacked-grizzly-bear-bc/?fbclid=IwdGRjcANQ8HlleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHtumNr81LWSO4ErQRBAyt0WHqAMiTVU5rFKr6HaTLU0z4NcH7uZ4J1YQbPa8_aem_z_SWG-dk7O93zN-m8fDSkA Dave's thing In the early 1800s, grizzly bears were one of the biggest threats to cattle. While the Anglo-American style was to use heavy artillery to control threatening bears, the vaqueros preferred to rope them from the back of a well-trained horse. This method of bear control required a great deal of skill and was a dying vaquero art. What can we learn from this? Eventual Ad Slot Personal Gear Chat and Updates: Mike Back to the quacken on Sunday. Early decoys, easily smoked one that came in. buddy smoked another later. Landed on the ground with a really satisfying thud. Things slowed down; birds weren't flying so we took the boat out and went after em Straight to the islands I wanted to hit this time of year. There was a whole herd of deer on the biggest island and it's at least a half mile swim. Wonder if they swam out there or got stuck when it thawed. Snuck up on some geese. Not really sneaky or stealthy in a canoe but, it worked. They didn't care about us and we got close enough for me to swat one. Caternary is a bitch. Moved on down the islands and found like 8 dozen ducks, some more geese and a few cormorans. Don't shoot cormorans. He took a shot and missed at the swarm of ducks. I had an opportunity for the geese that lit off but didn't have my gun in my hands so, whatever. We rowed off elsewhere, and in the process a Gadwall headed straight for us. I dropped it with a nice splash. started heading back for the trucks and honed in on some more geese. Kept a slow approach but they did not care one iota about us. Their mistake. Managed to close in 50 yards, swatted one, dropped a second as they “fled”. Buddy shot two. The rest of them just kinda hung out like “Frank! Henry! Noooo!” I would have shot two more, but I couldn't remember the limit so I left it. Turns out it's five, not three. Packaged up the geese and froze em and made duck teriyaki with the breasts. Nom nom nom. All in all I am feeling much more comfortable with the Advocate and the 1187. Not thinking about shots, just going by feel. Except for caternary… that's a bitch. Right after that, some boat pulls up and yells at us about goose season. Dave Pheasants Forever New pack New binos Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands fuckery? This week on the HowToBBQRight Podcast, we're fired up to welcome back our good buddy Dave Williamson — AKA Meat Dave — for another mouthwatering episode (00:14)! He's got big news: Dave just opened a BRAND NEW restaurant (01:10)! Now that he's running the show, we had to ask — is Dave still out front slinging BBQ like the good ol' days (11:43)? And what's it really like selling BBQ in a bar setting — is it harder or easier (15:35)? Dave also drops his famous Mac n' Cheese recipe, and it was passed down by a good friend of ours (22:15)! When it comes to seasonings, Dave knows his stuff (27:26). We talk about why the Primo Ceramic Grill might just become your new favorite backyard cooker (33:40), and how Malcom and Dave's lunch at Bain's BBQ was straight-up deliciousda (34:23). Dave also traveled down to Key West to defend his BBQ festival title (40:01), and yeah… Peanut Butter Jelly RIBS are officially a thing (45:06)! He's cooked on all kinds of smokers, but RecTeq is still Dave's go-to (49:13). We also dive into the current state of the California BBQ scene (52:58), and we wrap things up with a look at how Dave is balancing comedy with the restaurant biz (57:17).

"That is one of my core values—to try to live a life of non-violence and not contribute to anyone's suffering in any way, because we're all suffering in our own way, and we're all fighting a battle that everybody knows nothing about. Something as simple as eating can be an act of compassion or an act of violence, and you get to decide" It's not often you come across a person who has graced the front cover of Men's Fitness magazine, and it's even rarer when that exceptionally chiseled person happens to be vegan. In fact, today's guest, Nimai Delgado, is the only one. Nimai is a former IFBB Pro in the Men's Physique category, but there's more to him than just muscles. Raised in a Hari Krishna farming community in the South until he was eight years old, Nimai is insightful, compassionate, and surprisingly relatable. He's garnered nearly one million followers through his multiple Instagram accounts and uses his fame to teach others about the health benefits of a vegan diet. If it can power his kind of mass, it can certainly sustain the average human. This conversation roams from protein myths to ahimsa, public relationship break-ups to nutrition tips. Go for a walk, get to the gym, or start doing squats—you'll want to be active when you listen to this show. What we discuss in this episode: Nimai's relationship with protein and the misconception around macronutrients Standard bodybuilding nutrition versus Nimai's plant-based routine Growing up in a Hari Krishna community in the South and the concept of ahimsa His very public breakup during the pandemic Fitness and nutrition tips for the every day person Finding your “WHY” Nimai's Buddha Bowl recipe VeganFitness.com Vedge Nutrition and the role of supplements Follow Nimai on Instagram @nimai_delgado Click the link below to support the FISCAL Act https://switch4good.org/fiscal-act/ Share the website and get your resources here https://kidsandmilk.org/ Send us a voice message and ask a question. Real Life Ben's decided that fall is… fine. Just okay. Leaves fall, pumpkin spice happens, and he moves on. His energy's better spent testing out new hands-free necklace cameras—a totally normal sentence—and keeping Orion fed and happy. Meanwhile, Steven dove headfirst into Shadow of the Demon Lord, playing Velmar the Archivist, a character with a flair for ancient lore and possibly poor life decisions. Five hours later, the table survived, the dice were appeased, and Steven was still buzzing from the chaos. Devon, fresh from his cruise survival, gave us tales of ice skating, laser tag, and kid karaoke—the real high seas adventure. The boat did, however, dock somewhere that was apparently not Devon-approved. We didn't ask for details. Some horrors are best left off-mic. Ben's also been deep-diving into retro TV, revisiting Police Squad! after catching the fourth Naked Gun movie. Add in Marvel Zombies—a wild, tragic, and completely zany series that gave him Batman Ninja flashbacks—and you've got Ben's viewing habits perfectly summarized: somewhere between slapstick and existential decay. Marvel Zombies on IMDb Review on The Playlist Steven's been championing Peacemaker, wrapping up season 1 and binging through the first seven episodes of season 2. He gives it a full-hearted recommendation—especially if you enjoy Superman references, alternate realities, and 80s glam metal in your superhero chaos. Devon, ever the connoisseur, dropped a bombshell: there's a new Simpsons movie coming, and it might even be replacing a Marvel release slot. He's cautiously thrilled. On the flip side, Alien: Earth got a collective “eh” from the group—though we all agreed its many storylines and editing quirks made for an interesting dissection. Future or Now We didn't make it here this week. Too many good tangents. Book Club This week's read was “They're Made Out of Meat” by Terry Bisson—short, weird, and surprisingly heartfelt. The crew praised its simple but sharp worldbuilding-through-dialogue, and Ben compared its absurd tone to Ren & Stimpy's close-up madness. For a kid-friendlier vibe, he also recommended The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. Read “They're Made Out of Meat” Watch the short film adaptation Flapjack on IMDb Next week's story: “Wikihistory” by Desmond Warzel, a time-travel tale told through forum posts. I loved the Netflix series Succession. Every time I viewed an episode I had fond memories of my regional, Italian-family-owned supermarket client. I served them for 20 years. The business was started by a produce street vendor (G1) in Norristown, Pa, some 20 miles west of Philadelphia. He eventually opened a superette, a relatively small-sized market in the same town. He had five sons (G2). Each became the manager of a standard-sized supermarket in a widening territory. They eventually became the business owners, and hired people to merchandise and run the stores. They built a brand of strong service and innovative merchandising. The five brothers each had two sons. Nine of the cousins joined the business in high school. The 10nth eventually became a priest. As they became adults, the cousins replaced their fathers as department heads (Grocery, Produce, Meat, Non-Foods, Real Estate, etc) Then eventually, the 5 brothers retired and the 9 cousins became the owning operators of the business with the oldest named CEO. In his book The Omnivore's Deception, he argues that killing animals for food is ... Twenty tonnes of illegal meat and animal products have been intercepted at Dover in September alone according to Dover's Head of Port Health and Public Protection. Lucy Manzano tells us the amount of illegal meat her staff are seizing is 'escalating'.The way deprivation is measured in the UK means the challenges facing rural areas aren't taken into account. That's the conclusion of "Pretty Poverty", a new report from Plymouth Marjon University. It argues that rural hardship could be "hidden behind scenic views" and that factors like needing to own a car in remote areas with poor public transport aren't taken into consideration. All week we've been looking at livestock markets, we catch up with farmers who say Cockermouth Mart in Cumbria is a vital social hub. We visit a mart on the English Welsh border to find out how the sector's coping with bluetongue restrictions and we speak to Dr Carrie Batten the bluetongue expert at the World Organisation for Animal Health and Head of the National Reference Laboratory for the disease at the Pirbright Institute Every autumn pigs are released into the New Forest for the ancient tradition of "pannage". The pigs gobble up acorns from the thousands of oak trees in the Forest - and it's a bumper crop this year. Good news for fattening pigs, but bad news for ponies and cattle for whom the acorns are toxic.Presenter = Charlotte Smith Producer = Rebecca Rooney

Join Discourse and contribute to the Spotlight, and join the conversation - a small monthly donation gets you membership to our community, and that allows you to drive discussion around these shows, and get even more value and insight from what other listeners are sharing.Show notesIn Spotlight this week, we look back at a packed weekend of sports action and offer insights on the big events. We kick it off with the AFL (1:39), where the Grand Final was played, and where listener Josh sent in an article exploring how the body shape and size of players have evolved over the years. Gareth wonders whether the players adapt to the game, or whether the game adapts to the athleticism of its players, and Ross explains the physiological equivalent of 'form follows function'.Then we move to Rugby (9:56), where England were crowned World Champions at the weekend, crowing an unbeaten World Cup cycle in which they've averaged 50 points a match and not lost a single match. The final wasn't exactly smooth sailing, and Gareth and Ross share some thoughts on what impressed us, and where Canada may have fallen short, with hopes for continued growth in the game. From Rugby to cycling for a brief last look back at the Rwanda World Champs (23:10), but where off-bike news in the form of the UCI back-pedal on handlebar widths and other policy changes are the main focus of conversation.Cycling gives way to golf (38:48), and the Ryder Cup, which looked like a foregone conclusion until it wasn't, and one of the year's great sports spectacles unfolded in New York. We learn how Europe used data analytics and simulations to optimize its foursome and fourball combinations, and wonder when data becomes a hinderance as opposed to a helper in sport? In response to a spate of serious ACL injuries in the NFL and in football (51:58), Gareth wonders whether something is happening, perhaps related to the training and conditioning of athletes, or the turf, to increase ACL injury risk? Ross is less sure, explaining how rare injuries can throw up misleading 'patterns', compounded by media bias.We wrap up with some doping stories (55:52), including the CAS decision in the case of Erriyon Knighton, who was initially cleared of doping when he was able to show contamination of an oxtail meal he consumed. But CAS didn't see it the same way, and he got a four year ban because of their interpretation of the pharmacokinetics and the relative levels of the banned substance in the oxtial compared to in his urine. We also go to Kenya, where an athlete admitted not only to taking EPO, but explaining how he obtained it. Whether it's a truthful account is anyone's guess. And finally (1:03:16), the NFL came to (Dublin) town last weekend, and the juxtaposition of some high profile rugby players and the NFL kicked off a conversation comparing the two sports. We end with a semi lighthearted look at the helmet and pad culture of American Football, and offer thoughts on why rugby's lack of protective equipment doesn't necessarily make it more dangerous.LinksTaller, leaner, faster AFL playersYou can read the Knighton CAS decision hereNo Laying Up Golf Analytics Podcast Hosted on Acast. Chef Jeremy Fox joins Dave, John, Quinn, and Jackie Molecules for a rollicking Cooking Issues session that jumps from kitchen hacks to personal reflections. Fox, in New York fresh off the release of his new book On Meat, talks through the craft behind charcuterie, confit, scrapple, corned beef, merguez, and even buffalo deviled eggs.Dave kicks things off with a story of wiping out on an oily UN-Week bike lane, before diving into Fox's world: the terrine he made for his own wedding, the art of hoshigaki persimmons, why corned beef sometimes wins out over pastrami, and the surprising virtues of scrapple. Fox explains why he avoids crosshatching duck breast, how to keep confit submerged, and what it takes to crisp potato skins properly. The conversation widens to food culture and kitchen life: Chengdu rabbit heads, the misery of warm lager, Belgian frites technique, kitchen safety horror stories, and the bittersweet reality of closing Birdie G's. Along the way we get clever hacks (butter-knife weights for sous-vide rolls, parsley-green fat in terrine), a defense of warm scrapple with maple syrup, and Fox's thoughts on larder staples that make weeknight cooking easier.
