Manoj Harasgama: S. Manoj Harasgama is a serial entrepreneur and startup investor. He's been the founder/MD at Treatwell, Unleash12, a venture capital company and JOIN.com, and is currently working on a stealth ClimateTech venture. He holds an MA in Accounting and Finance from HSG and an M.Sc. in International Management from CEMS (RSM & HSG) and has worked both at the HQ for corporates like Shell and Adidas as well as at well-known scaleups like usgang.ch and Groupon. Nowadays he's working on a climate venture that has yet to fully launch, which has developed a technology that is ready for market today and allows gas turbines to run on zero carbon fuels like hydrogen. Were their tech to be applied, a 100 megawatt turbine, today emitting up to 600'000 tons of CO2 every year, would eliminate emissions and emit zero CO2. This is particularly impactful considering that gas emissions make up around ⅓ of all fossil fuel emissions. Next to being a serial entrepreneur, Manoj also invests in promising early stage startups, and is a guest lecturer on Growth and Entrepreneurship at universities like the ESADE Lull University in Barcelona, the Technical University Munich and the Rotterdam School of Management. When people consider a new employer they might think about a number of key factors, including location, salary, opportunities for growth and advancement, pension and others. One factor which has emerged in recent years is consideration of a potential employers stance on social issues, most particularly relating to their values. More than this, however, research by our guest today – Professor Moritz Appels – highlights that potential hires also consider a CEO's sociopolitical activism in evaluating how attractive a new, potential employer might be.About our guest…Moritz Appels is an Assistant Professor of Organisational Behaviour at the Department of Organisation and Personnel Management, Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. He obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Mannheim in 2022.His research illuminates how the behaviour of corporate actors shapes and is shaped by organizational and societal change, with a particular focus on the relationship between strategic leadership, social evaluations, and the broader socio-political environment. A particular focus of his work is the impact of corporate and CEO activism—e.g., speaking out on gun ownership in the U.S.—on stakeholder behaviours. He is likewise involved in understanding the environmental and dispositional antecedents of top managers' engagement in organisational and societal change. You can find out more about Moritz and his work at these links:https://www.linkedin.com/in/moritz-appels-a0b49a14a/https://www.rsm.nl/people/moritz-appels/https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=qEdUSREAAAAJ&hl=de Hosted on Acast. And, to tell the generation's story, she gleaned considerable insight from a large sampling of the cohort. This much is evident: Gen Z is changing every aspect of life and work. Starts at 21:03 Illustrates how Gen Z will change the workplace. Starts at 37:34 Gen Z workers thrive in what Hana describes as "high tech, high touch" environments. And, on the job, their motivations may seem contradictory: they seek financial success, recognition, and autonomy. However, they also seek intentional leadership from their bosses. According to Hana: "The leaders of the future are going to be successful when they show empathy and compassion." The future of work is Generation Z. Yes, they will turn the workplace upside down. But everyone who works will benefit from better career experiences and outcomes. Main podcast segment begins at 2:58 About our guest: Hana Ben-Shabat is the founder Gen Z Planet.

Here at MinistryWatch we bring you news about Christian ministries, as well as the latest in charity and philanthropy, news that we examine from a Christian worldview perspective. Our goal is to help us become better stewards of the resources God has entrusted to us. These mid-week “Extra” episodes are a chance for us to go deep with a particular topic, and this week I want to take a deep dive into Christian higher education, because of both its pivotal role in the culture, and because Christian colleges are among the largest Christian ministries in the country. Today, we have on the program Dr. Erik Hoekstra. Erik Hoekstra serves as the fourth, and current president of Dordt University. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he is no stranger to the role of president of a Christian college. His father served as president of Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, IL, when he was growing up, and his father-in-law was president of Trinity during his college years. Erik Hoekstra received his bachelor's degree in history and philosophy from Trinity Christian College, his master's degree in international management from The Rotterdam School of Management of Erasmus University in the Netherlands, and his Ph.D. in organizational learning and human resource development from Iowa State University. During his time at Dordt, President Hoekstra has led two capital campaigns, the building of a new Science and Technology Center, nursing simulation lab, theatre space, and Agriculture Stewardship Center. He has overseen the creation of innovative programs, such as Pro-Tech, a two-year, hands-on vocational degree. President Hoekstra also served in the process of transitioning Dordt from a college to a university in 2019. Before we go: A quick reminder that this show exists because of the generosity of our readers and listeners. We take no money from the ministries we cover. There's no advertising on our website. We are completely listener and reader-funded. If you'd like to make a donation to MinistryWatch, just go to MinistryWatch.com and hit the donate tab at the top of the page. If money is a little tight now…hey, I get it. Been there a time or two myself. You can still help the program. Just rate us on your podcast app. The more ratings we get, the higher we rank with search engines, and that means other people can find us more easily. Rating us just takes a second, and it doesn't cost you a dime. It's a free, easy, and important way you can support the MinistryWatch podcast. The producers for today's program are Rich Roszel and Steve Gandy. We get database and other technical support from Cathy Goddard, Stephen DuBarry, and Casey Sudduth. I'm Warren Smith, and – until next time – May God bless you.
