Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals discussed Cohen Veterans Network , a national not-for-profit network of mental health clinics for post-9/11 veterans, active duty service members, National Guard and Reserves, and their families, providing high-quality, accessible care. Founded in 2016 by philanthropist Steven A. Cohen, the network began in part because his son served in the United States Marine Corps. CVN currently has 22 Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinics in high-need communities across the country serving 20 states, providing services in-person or via CVN Telehealth, face-to-face video therapy for the entire military family including spouses or partners, children, siblings, parents, caregivers and others as defined by the veteran or service member. They treat a number of mental health challenges including depression, anxiety, PTSD, adjustment issues, anger, grief and loss, family issues, transition challenges, relationship problems, and children's behavioral problems. Concentrated programming addresses suicide risk and couples therapy. In honor of Veterans Day they offered ways to bridge the civilian-military gap including flying an American flag, donating to a veteran service organization, or buying a veteran a meal. They also offer a Veterans Pop 101 Quiz to test your knowledge about veterans to gain a better understanding about veterans and the military community. Today we are chatting with Kimberly Gold and dive into what caring for yourself looks like within your marriage and for yourself. Sometimes BUILDing your marriage starts with you first BUILDing Your Mental Health. Here are our highlights from this episode: Kimberly shares her milmarriage story that starts with sliding into DMs and a shift to work on physical health. She shares her journey of resentering, healing and recovering from a toxic work environment. “You can't be a good partner when you're not being good to yourself.” Stop using positive distractions. Be brave enough to acknowledge that you need help. Let's stop normalizing or silencing your trauma, hurt or feelings. Know your options. Look into different health care providers like Steven A Cohen's - Cohen Veterans Network at https://www.cohenveteransnetwork.org & providers highlighted on the Military Marriage Day app About Kimberly Born to a Korean woman who would become the first Korean female Chief Warrant Officer Five in the US Army, Kimberly prides herself on learning directly from her mother who taught her how to turn obstacles into opportunities. As a military kid, Kimberly has been assigned to seven military bases and can recall attending at least five schools. In elementary school, Kimberly stayed with a babysitter when both her parents deployed for the Gulf War. Kimberly recalls a time where she deeply disappointed her patriot mother by not accepting an appointment to the Air Force Academy. In the words of Kimberly, she was “DONE” with military life. To show her mother exactly how done she was, she went on to spend the next two decades serving military communities, even deploying to Kuwait, as a humanitarian and is happily married to a foreign born spouse who serves in the Army. Welcome to another episode of OTTplay Now you Know, one podcast that gives you all the trivia and lesser-known facts about your favorite shows and films. I'm your host NikhilAn American drama series, Billions has been developed by David Levien, Brian Koppelman and Andrew Ross Sorkin. The series premiered in 2016 and has undergone five successful seasons. The Showtime series is ending with the sixth and final season and narrates the story of hedge fund manager Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis). So if you're a fan of engaging thrillers based on financial frauds, this one's perfect for you. Let's kickoff some trivia.1.The characters of Rhoades and Axelrod may be fictional but are based on real-life people. Axe, who is supposed to be a mix of all hedge-fund personalities, started off as a dramatised version of Steven A Cohen (the co-founder of S.A.C. Capital, found guilty of insider trading and slapped with a fine of $1.8 billion). Rhoades, on the other hand, is based on Preet Bharara's personality, the one who pursued Cohen. 2. Maggie Siff, who plays Wendy Rhoades in the series, consulted noted motivational speaker Tony Robbins. The actress also consulted professional dominatrices who guided her by showing her how to accurately and safely depict BDSM on screen. Talking about Wendy, Siff once said in an interview, “[she] is very unapologetic about who she is, the power she wields, and the influence she has.” 3. Taylor Mason (who is played by Asia Kate Dillon) joins Axe Capital as a nerdy finance analyst who is obsessed with mathematics. Kate Dillon is also the first non-binary character to appear in North America television. 4. Billions has always been praised by critics for its acute eye towards detail. However, imitation can often end up misrepresenting, as was pointed out by a billionaire himself to the show's creator Brian Koppelman. As per the billionaire, no one with his dispensable income would travel by a G5 aeroplane, which he described as a “sardine can.”5. In order to inject authenticity into their narrative, the makers of Billions have featured several fine dining restaurants across New York, be it Barney Greengrass, Sparks Steakhouse or Emmy Squared. In fact, in one scene of the show, a character refers to the restaurant's owner himself as an exceptional chef. 6. Other than restaurants, several noted real-life people have also featured on the show as themselves, from the music band Metallica, to Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon and entrepreneur and TV personality Mark Cuban. If you haven't watched this series yet, do so streaming on HotstarWell that's the OTTplay Now You Know for today, I shall be back soon with another podcast, Until then its your host Nikhil signing out .Aaj kya dekhoge OTTplay se poocho.
The Rockies have spent $80.25 million on the roster this offseason, but has that been enough to move the needle on the 2022 season for Aniello Piro? We're adopting a new episode naming strategy. We're doing descriptive titles. Complaints will be stored in the cylindrical file! In the News: We discuss the recent outer space adventures of three people so impossibly wealthy that they each had vanity fleets of rocket ships built for them, seemingly to reaffirm their unshakeable sense that they were each earth's main protagonist. Billionaire #1: Steven A. Cohen 8/10 on the David Koch Memorial Asset Liquidation Index Welcome to Flavortown! Steven A. Cohen is probably best known for owning the Mets, but a few years ago his firm SAC Capital Advisors was caught up in the biggest insider trading investigation in history. Hedge funds are machines designed to widen the wealth gap between the richest micron of elites and everybody else. They are also often criminal enterprises—organized ways to cheat the markets without getting caught. Steven A. Cohen was the all-time biggest cheat, but he never really suffered any consequences and now he just buys the world's most expensive artworks and sports teams. He also reportedly paid Guy Fieri $100,000 to recreate an episode of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives with him. Billionaire #2: David Hindawi 2/10 on the DKMALI David Hindawi is a ghost man who started a cybersecurity firm. His son seems like a very uncool boss. Joe takes us on a journey through cybersecurity, John McAfee, information infrastructure, risk society, Batman, and anxiety. I think the takeaway was that there are specific anxieties and fantasies associated with the information infrastructure we've erected around ourselves. We are all over the place here, but I think it was a fun conversation. In a solo episode, Beverly talks about sexual harassment. This is an age-old issue which unfortunately many women and even men have experienced personally or know someone who has. What can we do to address situations where sexual harassment exists or when we observe someone who appears uncomfortable by the attention of another? There may even be a need to address sexually harassing behavior that has taken place in the past. For example, prompted by media reports of past sexual misconduct by its new, recently hired general manager, majority owner of the New York Mets of Major League Baseball, Steven A. Cohen took swift action. The Mets are now looking for a new GM. Until the Mets’ situation was publicized, sexual harassment appeared to lay dormant, at least in the media. We know with certainty however that sexual harassment has not been eradicated. That is why Beverly is shining a light on this topic. She reminds us that typically harassment is a form of intimidation by people in power. Several examples of what is and is not acceptable are also provided. Please note that the examples are just that. There is conduct not mentioned that may give rise to sexual harassment. Beverly begins by identifying unacceptable conduct. Agreement that these behaviors are not appropriate is the first step to changing the culture. What is okay and not okay: Keep your hands to yourself. Yes, this seems obvious, but Beverly explains that some may not understand that well-intentioned actions (a hug for example) can be unwelcome. We all know the Golden Rule. Beverly also shares the Platinum Rule. This is simple to understand and is a good policy for conduct at work. There should be a policy that also explains who you can turn to for support. It should be easy to understand and to implement. Men can be harassed as well as women, and same sex/gender harassment also occurs. Everyone should be encouraged to report sexual harassment and be supported. What do you do if you witness harassment? Beverly explains what you can do. What is a love contract, and does it help? People should not be expected to “avoid” harassers. Their workplaces should be safe without the need to proactively protect themselves. Sexual harassment should never be ignored. We have all heard if you see something say something. Beverly explains that some people may not be comfortable saying something in the moment. The next option is to find someone immediately who can do or say something. Beverly ends with helpful Q&A. Every person deserves a safe workplace free of intimidation and harassment. This is not legal advice specifically but guidelines in general that can help you promote a work environment where everyone feels safe and valued. Major League Baseball Story

But his real problem is not the enemy, but rather his own army which keeps increasing the number of missions the men must fly to complete their service. Yet if Yossarian makes any attempt to avoid his military assignments, he'll be in violation of Catch-22, a hilariously sinister bureaucratic rule which specifies that a concern for one's own safety in the face of dangers which are real and immediate is the process of a rational mind; a man is considered insane if he willingly continues to fly dangerous combat missions, but a request to be removed from duty is evidence of sanity and therefore makes him ineligible to be relieved from duty." ‘Central Park Five' (Netflix, 2019) Created byAva DuVernay Starring Michael K. Williams, Vera Farmiga & John Leguizamo. “Based on a true story that gripped the nation, the four-episode series will chronicle the notorious case of five teenagers of color who were convicted of a rape they did not commit.” Spans from spring of 1989, when each were first questioned about the incident, to 2014 when they were exonerated and a settlement was reached with the city of New York. Through her hashtag #morethanamilspouse, her hope is to remind other military spouses that it's ok to create a life for yourself, too! As we recorded this episode, Hurricane Florence was headed her way, but she was undeterred in her mission to express her support for other military families. As a fairly new spouse who came into this life a little later than some, Wendi also talks about pregnancy loss, what helped her after the loss of her unborn baby, how to reach out to others experiencing grief, how the military can do better with focusing on childless couples as well as those with children, and her work with her Strength4Spouses blog. She has so many great ideas for military spouses to build their identity outside of the military space. What's her favorite Southern food and who was her favorite celebrity sighting? Remember when we were kids, and we spent hours each day enjoying movement? We may not have known it then, but so much of those activities and movement patterns are what we use as adults to build workout plans and keep fitness a part of our life. However, so much of the fun has been taken from working out! We may have success in our commitments to the latest group training class on the block but are we actually being effective? Are we staying true to our specific goals? Joe Carabase, on Instagram @joecarabase, is a fitness industry veteran, host of the "Fat M.E.L.T.-ing Radio" podcast and multiple-location owner of his own private training facilities. He was the Men's Health 2014 "Next Top Trainer" finalist and has created multiple books and online programs to help busy people get the most effective (and fun) workouts through both in-person and online training. *Make sure to catch Joe's interview of me on his podcast here - http://bit.ly/FMR198* Ever Forward Radio is made possible by our proud partners! Sheelah Kolhatkar is a staff writer at The New Yorker and is a former hedge fund analyst. Her book, Black Edge: Inside Information, Dirty Money, and the Quest to Bring Down the Most Wanted Man on Wall Street, tells the story of Steven A. Cohen and his involvement in the largest insider-trading scandal in U.S history. The book is one of the five finalists selected for NYPL's Helen Bernstein Book Award for Excellence in Journalism. Kolhatkar dropped by the Library to discuss how she wrote this real-life thriller, what Cohen is up to today, and why people outside of the financial world should be paying attention.
Ever wonder how Wall Street works? I mean, really? We see how Wall Street is portrayed in dramatic movies, like Wolf of Wall Street and The Big Short, and of course the iconic movie Wall Street with Michael Douglas. Personally, I’m obsessed with the show time show Billions. So, how accurate are these portrayals really? Today we go behind the scenes thanks to our guest and her groundbreaking reporting. Sheelah Kolhatkar is a staff writer for The New Yorker, and has published her first book called Black Edge: Inside Information, Dirty Money, and the Quest to Bring Down the Most Wanted Man on Wall Street. We’re not talking about Bernie Madoff. This book details the story of a billionaire trader Steven A. Cohen, and the rise and fall of his hedge fund SAC Capital. It is the largest inside our trading investigation in history. This is the kicker, Cohen was never charged. We will dive into all of this with Sheelah, as well as her background as a former hedge fund analyst herself. How did that experience bring her to her role today as an investigative business reporter? As I mentioned, she is currently a staff writer for The New Yorker, where she covers Wall Street and Silicon Valley, the economy and national politics. She also writes the magazine’s financial page and is a regular contributor to NPR’s marketplace. To learn more visit www.somoneypodcast.com.
Sheelah Kolhatkar is a staff writer at The New Yorker and the author of Black Edge: Inside Information, Dirty Money, and the Quest to Bring Down the Most Wanted Man on Wall Street. “Suddenly the financial crisis happened and all this stuff that had been hidden from view came out into the open. It was like, ‘Oh, this was actually all kind of a big façade.’ And there was all this fraud and stealing and manipulation and corruption, and all these other things going on underneath the whole shiny rock star surface. And that really also demonstrated to people how connected business stories, or anything to do with money, are to everything else going on. I mean, really almost everything that happens in our world, if you trace it back to its source, it’s money at the root of it.” Thanks to MailChimp, Blue Apron, and Stamps.com for sponsoring this week's episode. @sheelahk sheelahkolhatkar.com Kolhatkar on Longform [00:15] SAIC Application [00:30] Pregnant Pause [01:15] Missing Richard Simmons [04:00] Black Edge: Inside Information, Dirty Money, and the Quest to Bring Down the Most Wanted Man on Wall Street (Random House • 2017) [07:30] Kolhatkar’s Observer archive [09:15] "Suzy Wetlaufer Preparing To Be 'Neutron Jackie'" (Observer • Apr 2004) [15:00] "Hedge Funds Are for Suckers" (Bloomberg • Jul 2013) [17:45] Kolhatkar’s Time archive [18:00] "Poor Ruth" (New York • Jul 2009) [26:30] "When the Feds Went After the Hedge-Fund Legend Steven A.
