John is joined by Pomplamoose - American indie-jazz duo Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn - to discuss how they wrote and recorded the album ‘Photogénique', released in July this year. The two met while studying at Stanford University and began making music together in early 2008. They first gained widespread attention in late 2009 through their inventive covers of popular songs on YouTube and MySpace, achieving their first viral hit in 2010 with their rendition of Beyoncé's ‘Single Ladies'. Since then, Pomplamoose have released seven albums, including ‘Tribute to Famous People' (2010) and ‘Hey, It's Pomplamoose' (2016), blending elements of indie pop, rock, and jazz. In this episode, Jack and Nataly join remotely from their US studio to discuss the three-year process of writing and recording ‘Photogénique', the ‘extreme self-honesty' that led them to scrap and re-record much of the original album and their intricate vocal production processes. They also get into the influence of AI on their art, their top gear recommendations and advice they would give to newer artists. Melinda Maria Spigel is the founder and Chief Creative Officer of Melinda Maria Jewelry, a leading e-commerce jewelry brand. From a young age, Melinda was drawn to creativity and jewelry, spending hours sketching and experimenting with designs. What began as a childhood passion quickly evolved into something bigger when, at 23, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams. She started selling her handmade pieces out of a Starbucks, sometimes making $1,000 a day, until her bold, statement designs began catching the eyes of stylists and celebrities. That early momentum would eventually grow into a namesake brand worn by icons like Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift, and featured in major retailers around the world. In this week's episode, Melinda opens up about the real journey behind the brand: how she overcame fear of judgment, why authenticity is her biggest competitive edge, and what it really took to build a company from scratch while raising three kids. We talk about the hustle of her early days, the grassroots strategies that got her into celebrity hands, the lessons she learned navigating challenges during key growth stages, and how passion continues to fuel her resilience and long-term success. Melinda's story is a masterclass in resilience, resourcefulness, and creativity, and a reminder that true success isn't about a perfect path but about showing up with courage, again and again. In this episode, we'll talk to Melinda about:* Why authenticity is the foundation of brand-building. Think failure means you're not cut out for leadership? Think again. In this episode, Marie Sonneman—Lieutenant, coach, and host of Ordinary to Badass—shares how failing promotion boards more times than she passed didn't stop her from becoming the only female lieutenant in a department of nearly 700. From almost giving up before her first detective role to rising into leadership, Marie breaks down why failure isn't proof you're unqualified—it's proof you're in the arena.✨ Theme: Resilience Stories & Mindset BreakthroughsWe're talking about the grit it takes to stay in the game, reframing setbacks into stepping stones, and why perseverance matters more than perfection. You'll hear:
Medvirkende: Kira Skov & David Minerba. Ekspert: Jytte Vikkelsøe. Vært: Sebastian Lynggaard. Producer: Cæcilie Helena Denman-Gretoft. Musik: "Hold up" Beyonce. Redaktør: Christina Høier.

For the more casual observers of popular culture, Halle Bailey may only register as Ariel in the 2023 The Little Mermaid remake, but the more discerning know that this young artist has been doing the hard work, alongside her sister Chloe, since she was barely out of diapers. She excels in music - she and her sister have garnered five Grammy nominations and count Beyonce as their mentor - as well as acting, but one area of her life that maybe isn't up to her high standards is her love life, which lately includes a bitter split from ex-boyfriend and her baby's daddy, rapper and YouTuber DDG.
