Financial Ethics Series: The Prosperity Gospel with Dr. David W. Jones

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” — Matthew 5:3In the final episode of our Financial Ethics series, we're tackling a message that promises health and wealth—but often leads to heartache: the prosperity gospel. Dr. David W. Jones joins us to unpack its dangers and point us back to a truly biblical view of blessing and provision.Dr. David W. Jones is Senior Professor of Christian Ethics at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He holds a Ph.D. in Christian Financial Ethics and is the co-author of Health, Wealth, and Happiness: How the Prosperity Gospel Overshadows the Gospel of Christ by Dr. W. Jones and Russell S. Woodbridge.Faith Is Not a TransactionOne of the most dangerous ideas in the prosperity gospel is that faith guarantees financial prosperity. It treats faith like a force—a tool believers can wield to compel God's blessings. But biblical faith isn't self-generated or transactional. It is a gift from God, a response to His revealed grace, and a means by which we trust Him, not a lever to gain wealth. Faith is “the eyesight of the soul”—deeply rational and rooted in the truth of who God is, not in wishful thinking or material expectations.Prosperity theology often preaches a “faith formula”: believe hard enough, and you'll be rewarded. But this distorts faith into a mechanism for personal gain. Hebrews 11:1 tells us that faith is “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” It's not irrational optimism—it's a reasoned trust in the unseen promises of God.We should view faith not as a way to escape hardship or secure abundance but as a path of trusting God in all things, including suffering. The Problem with Escaping SufferingOne hallmark of the prosperity gospel is its aversion to suffering. But as Jones points out, suffering is part of living in a fallen world—and it's not something Scripture tells us to avoid at all costs. In fact, passages like 1 Peter 4:12 and 2 Timothy 3:12 remind us that suffering is to be expected for faithful followers of Christ.Rather than hinder our faith, suffering refines it. Suffering is the crucible of character. It's often through trials that we grow closest to Christ and are shaped into His likeness.God's Provision Comes Through WorkAnother distortion in prosperity teaching is the expectation of windfalls—blessings that come without effort. But God's design for provision is through work. From the beginning, humans were created to labor and create, reflecting the image of God.Working, creating, and flourishing through effort honors our design and brings fulfillment. Attempts to bypass God's design through get-rich-quick schemes ultimately violate our dignity and God's intended path for flourishing.Prosperity preachers often misuse Scripture to back their claims. One example is 2 Corinthians 8:9: “That though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.”Taken out of context, it may sound like a promise of material wealth. But in its context, Paul is referring to our spiritual poverty and Christ's sacrifice to make us spiritually rich—context matters. Misreading Scripture to fit a materialistic theology distorts the gospel's central message.Giving as Grace, Not GreedProsperity theology often frames giving as a transaction: sow a seed to receive a harvest. But biblical generosity isn't about personal return—it's about grace.True giving flows from love for God and neighbor. We give not to get, but because we've already received so much. Our stewardship reflects our gratitude, not our greed. The heart of biblical giving is a response to God's grace, not a strategy for personal gain.Make your life about Christ, not your increase, not your own prosperity, but about flourishing in the image of His Son.That's the true antidote to the prosperity gospel. We aren't promised wealth, ease, or success. But we are promised Christ—and in Him, we find every blessing that matters. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I'm 64 and planning to retire within the next year. What if the miracle you've been begging God for—the divine intervention, the total transformation of your emotionally bankrupt marriage—is actually you walking out the door?In this episode, I pull back the curtain on my own bathroom-floor prayer sob sessions (complete with cold tile and mascara rivers) and challenge the dangerous theology that says staying in abusive marriages = holy martyrdom. If you've been stuck in a cycle of “pray harder, suffer longer,” it's time to consider that the still, small voice urging you to get out might actually be God.Key Takeaways:You might be the miracle. Sometimes, walking away is the divine answer.God doesn't endorse abuse. Staying to suffer isn't a spiritual badge of honor.Faith isn't a formula. Praying harder won't fix what someone refuses to change.Waiting on God means moving. Biblical waiting sometimes involves action, not passive endurance.Peace is holy. A quiet, safe life isn't boring—it's blessed. Leaving can be faith-filled. Seeking safety is aligning with God's heart, not betraying Him.You're already worthy. Jesus Set Us FreeIsaiah 61:1-3 “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,  to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”While searching for verses on joy, I came across Isaiah 61:3. However, upon reading it, I could tell it was missing context. When I started with verse 1, I knew we all needed to hear all three of these verses. Let's start at the beginning. The prophet Isaiah is prophetically speaking for the Messiah, and the Messiah is letting the people know that he is blessed and empowered by the Spirit of the Lord God. I looked up these verses on enduringword.com's commentary page. I am so glad I did because it gives such a deeper understanding of this verse. I didn't know this was talking about Jesus.Reading this verse on its own, I did not remember that this was the verse Jesus read in Luke 4. In Luke 4:16-22, Jesus spoke in the synagogue of Nazareth, His hometown. He opened up the scroll to Isaiah 61 – perhaps an assigned reading, perhaps chosen by Him – and read from the beginning of the chapter through the first line of verse 2. When He sat down, He simply said Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing. Jesus is the person described in Isaiah 61:1-3, and He is the one the Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon. The commentary goes on to say that “as Christians under the New Covenant, we also have an anointing: But you have an anointing from the Holy One (1 John 2:20). In the New Testament sense, anointing has the idea of being filled with, and blessed by, the Holy Spirit. This is something that is the common property of all Christians, but something we can and should become more submitted and responsive to.” This is reminding us that we all have the Holy Spirit living inside of us. This means we are all anointed and we have an anointing on our lives. How many of us know this? How many of us are attentive to the Holy Spirit living inside of us? Are you listening to it? Are we responding to it? Are we letting it lead us in our everyday lives? We do not all have the same anointing on our lives. We are all called to do different things. We are all blessed with different talents and different personalities, and God uses us accordingly. However, He sometimes also uses us for things that don't align with our talents or personalities. Like when He asked Moses to lead his people out of Egypt, even though Moses wasn't good at public speaking. If God is calling you to do something, he will equip you with all you need to do it.The next part of these verse is showing us the ministry or mission of the Messiah. Jesus came to:To preach good tidings to the poor. Jesus came to announce that he is hear to heal the damage that sin brings. Sin has done a lot of damage over the many years since Adam and Eve, and so there needs to be a great work of redemption. He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted because sin breaks hearts, when he redeems us he will heal the brokenhearted. To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound. Jesus sets us free from the captivity that we find ourselves in when we sin. Jesus takes that sin to the cross with Him. Freeing us from the chains of the evil one. I had at first written forever freeing us, but then I thought about it. Jesus definitely defeated evil once and for all; however, it may still be a daily battle for us. We still need to choose to live in that freedom. The devil is really good at convincing us not to live in that freedom. He convinces us that we don't deserve that freedom, and when we let the enemy convince us that we don't deserve this freedom, then we live in captivity. We live in the prison that Jesus died on the cross to save us from.To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God. This part I will read right from the commentary as I am learning right along side you. It says, “Significantly, Jesus stopped reading before this sentence. He stopped in the middle of the prophecy, because to proclaim…the day of vengeance of our God is relevant to His Second Coming, not to His first coming. The comma in year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance has stood for almost 2,000 years. This shows us something of the nature of Biblical prophecy: it may “shift gears” and time frames quickly and without warning.ii. We can compare a whole year of grace to a single day of vengeance.”One thing I do want to point out is that this is a Jubilee Year. It talks about how Jesus came to proclaim it an acceptable year to the Lord, or a year of the Lord's favor. Well, the year I am writing this episode has also been declared a Jubilee year. A Jubilee year is a holy year of the forgiveness of sin, conversion, and joyful celebration. Jubilee years typically come around every 25 or 50 years. This is a special year and we are called to participate in it.Here is what the commentary says about this last part. “The extent of the comfort and restoration is beautifully described. Instead of the ashes of mourning, He gives His people beauty. Instead of the mourning itself, He gives His people the oil of joy. Instead of the spirit of heaviness, He gives His people the garment of praise. Why do we sit in the ashes? Why do we mourn? Why do we indulge the spirit of heaviness when Jesus gave us something so much better? The word "beauty" evokes a beautiful crown or head ornament. It is translated exquisite hats in Exodus 39:28 and headdresses in Isaiah 3:20. In mourning, ashes would be cast upon the head (2 Samuel 13:19). Here, the ashes are replaced with a beautiful crown. That they may be called trees of righteousness: The restored place of God's people is glorious. They are as strong, beautiful, and useful as trees – and trees of righteousness at that. Most wonderfully, when people look at the trees, they see they are the planting of the LORD.Well, that certainly wasn't what I thought I would be talking about today. However, I think we all needed this reminder as to why Jesus came to us. It is good to be reminded of what His mission was because we are all tasked with that same mission. What can we do to help carry out His mission? Is there a way we can set someone free today? Is there some way we can remind them that Jesus has already set them free and all they need to do is accept his gift? Can we remind people they are loved and they have already been set free from their sin? They no longer have to be held captive by what they did or didn't do. All they need to do is remind themselves that Jesus's sacrifice was enough to cover all they have done.I love when the commentary asks, “Why do we sit in ashes? Why do we mourn? Why do we sit in the spirit of heaviness when Jesus gave us so much more? I will leave you with these questions to reflect on and pray about today.Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you to bless all those listening to this episode. Lord, we love you and we ask that you bless us and remind us that you have already saved us. Lord, help us to understand that this is a jubilee year and that we can make the most of it. If you've listened to Keeping It Young for long, you've probably heard Dave refer to the "family altar" but what exactly does he mean when he says that? The next few episodes will explain exactly what he means! In this episode, you heard Dave and Bethlie reference a past episode on Deuteronomy 6. Here is the link to part 1 of that 7 episode series. Here are the notes from today's episode. The Family Altar What is a family altar? The family altar refers to the way a Christian family regularly prays together. It is different than grace at a table. It is a daily time that frequently includes Scripture combined with prayers The family altar is: A family altar is a designated space or time in a home dedicated to religious or spiritual practices, often involving prayer, worship, and study of sacred texts. It serves as a focal point for family devotions, fostering a sense of unity, spiritual growth, and connection to faith. The specific elements and practices associated with a family altar can vary greatly depending on the family's religious or spiritual tradition.  An “on purpose way” for a family to regularly learn spiritual truth and traditions The family altar — a designated time and place at home where the family comes together to pray, worship and experience the living God — is like a firewall against Satan's schemes. Show me a family altar, and I will show you an atmosphere of faith and a house where God's presence resides.-Samuel Rodriquez, Influence Magazine The term “family altar” speaks to a time when the leader of the home gathers the family together to focus on God. For some families, that may mean once a week. It could be Sunday evening as the family prepares for another week. It could be Saturday evening as they family prepares their heart for worship with their church the next morning. Other families might practice it everyday at the breakfast table or at nighttime prayers. Why is the family altar important? God says so – that's why! Here are just a few of the examples of God's stance on the family altar: Abraham was told to teach his children so that following generations would know the Lord (Gen. 18:19). Moses taught that parents were to teach their children to love the Lord all throughout the day (Deut. 6:7). The psalmist taught the necessity of God's people declaring God's greatness to the next generations (Ps. 78:3-7). Solomon taught that if you trained a child in the Lord, they would not depart from that way (Prov. 22:6). Fathers were instructed to teach children in the instruction of the Lord (Eph. 6:4). Why should we have one? It builds unity in a family It teaches Bible truths systematically to our children It makes a statement that our faith is real and valid It focuses our attention on our God It helps to foster peace in the home It is a way to influence our children on a daily basis It provides a way for us to obey the Scriptures regarding our family Links: Want to hear Pastor Dave Young preach? Matthew Soerens joins Dr. Sandie Morgan to discuss the intersection of immigration policy and human trafficking, exploring how vulnerable immigration status increases the risk of exploitation and trafficking. Matthew Soerens Matthew Soerens is vice President of Advocacy and Policy at World Relief. He has dedicated his career to responding to the needs of immigrants and refugees through a biblical lens of justice and compassion. He also serves as national coordinator for the Evangelical Immigration table, and he co-authored Seeking Refuge on the shores of the Global Refugee Crisis. Key Points Human trafficking involves people forced to work under fraud or coercion, while smuggling refers to bringing someone across a border unlawfully - these terms are often conflated but represent different crimes that can sometimes overlap. Migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers are particularly vulnerable to trafficking because they're in unfamiliar cultural settings where they don't know the rules, their rights, or the laws, making them less likely to report exploitation. Current immigration enforcement approaches that create widespread fear in immigrant communities can inadvertently increase trafficking vulnerability by making people afraid to report crimes or seek help from law enforcement. California Republican legislators recently wrote a letter asking for more discernment in immigration enforcement, focusing on those convicted of violent crimes rather than broad sweeps that detain people who haven't committed crimes. The U.S. immigration system's complexity rivals tax law, with at least 18 different visa types, making it difficult for immigrants to understand their legal status, especially when policies change rapidly. Recent policy changes have left many Afghans, Haitians, and Venezuelans without legal status overnight, despite having previously worked lawfully with valid documentation. Employers who fail to file necessary visa extensions can create situations where workers become vulnerable to labor trafficking through coercion and threats of deportation. The lack of immigrant visa pathways for non-highly skilled workers forces many into temporary status or unauthorized situations, creating dependency on employers that can lead to exploitation. Unaccompanied children are among the most vulnerable to human trafficking, and recent legislation may undermine important protections established by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act. Churches and community organizations can play a vital role by building relationships with immigrants, providing practical support, and advocating for policies that recognize human dignity while affirming the rule of law. Biblical principles call for special concern for "the orphan, the widow, and the foreigner" - groups that remain vulnerable to trafficking today both in the U.S. and globally. Effective anti-trafficking work requires understanding the connection between immigration vulnerability and trafficking risk, as many trafficking victims are immigrants who lack legal protections. Monday, July 21st, marks the 100-year anniversary of what I believe to be one of the most significant trials in American history. It didn't have 24-hour cable news coverage, but it was the first trial to ever be broadcast nationally on live radio. Although the trial was held in a small town in Tennessee, the celebrity attorney for the defense hailed from Chicago, and the prosecutor was a three-time presidential candidate. Books, a Broadway play, and movies have been made about this trial. Have you heard of it?It's popularly known today as "The Scopes Monkey Trial." John Scopes was charged with violating state law by teaching that humans came from monkeys. He was convicted and fined $100. But though "the evolutionists" lost the case, they won in the court of public opinion, for they successfully advanced a narrative that those who believed the Biblical account of creation were a bunch of uneducated, red-necked, hillbillies, summarized in a term used in their day -- yokels. "Science" had conquered the Bible. Modernity had dealt a fatal blow to faith. Embarrassed and humiliated, many who continued to believe in the infallibility of Scripture retreated from the public square into their own separate world, seeking to remain unstained by the world. Within two generations, America had become a "secular" nation. To this day, we continue to see the effects of this Scopes decision in our schools as well as the broader culture.I recently sat down to have an in-depth discussion with Dr. Richard Suplita about the Scopes trial and its impact on our nation. I think it's well worth listening to if you are concerned about the waning effect of the church upon our broader culture and how some believers are rising up to right that ship.To find Tom on Instagram, Facebook, TiKTok, and elsewhere, go to linktr.ee/tomthepreacher To support our work, go to www.campusamerica.com************ Do you want to have all your sins forgiven and know God personally? Pastor Matt concluded his series on the Lord's Prayer by examining the textual history of Matthew 6:13b ("For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen"), which appears as a footnote in many modern translations. He explained the process of Biblical transmission from original manuscripts to modern translations, noting that the Bible's reliability remains uncompromised despite textual variations. Pastor Matt demonstrated that while Matthew 6:13b may not have been in the original manuscripts, it functions as a fitting doxology that accurately reflects Biblical truths found throughout Scripture, particularly echoing King David's prayer in 1 Chronicles 29:11. The sermon also analyzed the structure of the Lord's Prayer, showing how it begins and ends with God's glory while addressing man's needs in between. Pastor Matt emphasized that this model prayer covers our past (forgiveness), present (daily bread), and future (deliverance from temptation) while teaching us to approach God with both intimacy and reverence. He concluded by encouraging listeners to use the Lord's Prayer as a mirror for spiritual self-examination rather than a source of discouragement, inviting them to yield their lives to Christ.

Words are not just for communication—they shape civilizations. They define truth, identity, and purpose. They are the load-bearing beams of a society’s moral structure. And when those words are redefined or removed, everything built on them begins to crumble. In this powerful and timely episode of Christian Parent/Crazy World, Catherine Segars welcomes back worldview expert Scott Allen for a riveting conversation about the biblical words that built Western civilization—and why our children’s future depends on preserving them. We’re not just losing vocabulary in today’s culture war—we’re losing the very ideas that gave us human dignity, justice, freedom, and purpose. Concepts like truth, freedom, and even human are being reimagined in ways that disconnect us from reality and rob our kids of the meaning they were created to know. Scott and Catherine take a deep dive into the word “human”—and what it meant when rooted in the biblical worldview. They unpack how the radical declaration in Genesis—that humans are made in the image of God—revolutionized the ancient world. In a culture where women were often viewed as property, and children or the disabled were disposable, Scripture declared that every single person has immeasurable worth. You’ll hear: How the biblical idea of humanity upended Greek, Roman, and pagan views of people as tools or cosmic accidents The chilling story of a modern Kenyan tribe that used the same word for “woman” and “tool” The consequences of raising children in a world that sees them as just evolved animals—or self-defining machines

There are different arenas in which we can choose to do spiritual warfare. There is agricultural, courtroom, and battlefield warfare. God truly wants prayer to be preventative in our lives. We can have things theologically that we don't yet have experientially. Intercession is meant to bring what we have theologically into reality. Jesus and His 12 never experienced sickness, tragedy, or loss. They were always on the offensive, solving other people's problems, healing the sick, and casting out demons. God desires for us to live in a place of security and safety so we can go out and fight other people's battles, rather than being stuck fighting our own.

Are you walking through a trial that feels too heavy to carry? How can we find joy when life falls apart? In “Fire Tested & Joy Filled,” Pastor Josiah walks through James 1:1–18 to show that the trials we face are not meaningless—they are God's tool to grow our faith and prepare us for eternity. With honesty, personal testimony, and biblical clarity, this sermon calls believers to endure trials with joy, seek God's wisdom without doubting, resist the tempting lies of the enemy, and trust in the unchanging goodness of God. Even in the hardest seasons, we are not alone—Christ endured the ultimate trial on our behalf and now walks with us through the fire.

"Sent by the Savior"Mark 6:7-13Having recently completed our series “None Like Jesus” let's continue to “Behold Him” by embarking on a new study through the Gospel of Mark. Mark's Gospel is the shortest of the four Gospels and it is action-packed from start to finish – as evidenced by the word “immediately” used over 40 times. Mark wrote to believers, probably Roman believers, who were no strangers to persecution. And he wanted to disciple his readers to be strong in their faith by encouraging them to look to their Mighty Messiah, the Son of God, who remained steadfastly faithful even while becoming their Suffering Servant who died for them. Mark's Gospel is a call to all believers to fearlessly “Follow Jesus” because they can trust Him completely.

Dana McNeely, a passionate writer of biblical fiction, invites readers into a world where ancient Bible stories come alive with adventure, danger, and romance. Despite never visiting the Holy Land personally, she relies on a vast collection of books and videos to authentically bring ancient tales to life. Whether you're a long-time fan of biblical fiction or new to the genre, Dana McNeely invites you to deepen your faith through the power of storytelling. Discovering Inspiration in for Authentic Settings KyLee and Dana discuss how Dana's Arizona home, with its varied landscapes and desert climate, parallels the vivid settings of her novels. This real-world inspiration bridges the gap between past and present, enriching her storytelling with grounded authenticity. Beyond the Writing Office Family traditions, particularly during Christmas, hold a special place in Dana's heart. She shares how her family gathers to celebrate in grand style, complete with elaborate decorations and nativity scenes collected over the years. These cherished moments with family are a theme reflected in her stories, as well. The Journey to Biblical Fiction Dana's journey into biblical fiction was paved with other genres that just didn't quite captivate her interest. Her spiritual practices—spending quiet time with the Bible—sparked the inspiration for her writing. The story of the prophet Elijah bringing the widow's son back to life captivated her imagination, laying the foundation for her debut novel. Her writing endeavors aim not only to entertain but also to inspire readers to explore the Bible themselves, overcoming misconceptions and diving into the source material with renewed curiosity. A Shift to the New Testament Dana's first three books, including Mantle which is featured today, have been drawn from Old Testament stories. For her next project, she steps into the New Testament to tell the story of Anna, the prophetess. Excited to bring to life an older woman's perspective, Dana delves into a narrative enriched by Anna's experiences, wisdom, and the unique relationships she forms in the temple. Connect with Dana McNeely at her website and on Facebook, Instagram, Goodreads, and BookBub. Sign up for her newsletter to receive a free novella, "The Eyes of the Lord," a prequel that offers more depth to her beloved series. In the aftermath of Elijah's fiery ascension, the mantle of prophecy rests heavily on Elisha's shoulders. Called to shepherd Israel through turbulent times, he faces challenges from rulers, prophets, and even the people closest to him. Jaedon, who has shadowed Elisha since boyhood, is torn between loyalty to the prophet and his deepening desire to right a grievous wrong. As the young vintner struggles to understand why Yahweh allowed his family's murders, he considers a step toward revenge that will jeopardize his relationship with the man he regards as an elder brother. Gehazi, whose faith sometimes flickers, is tempted by the promise of wealth and power. His actions threaten to tear him away from the very blessings he sought to protect. Meanwhile, Ziva, an innocent girl in the sleepy settlement of Gischala, is swept into a world filled with uncertainty and danger. With unimaginable loss behind her, she struggles to look beyond her grief to find God's will. It is then she realizes only one path remains. Faith. Redemption. The cost of leadership. Will the next generation rise to the challenge and uphold the legacy of Elijah, or will they falter under the weight of the mantle? The Sermon on the Amount – Part 1 “Where Your Treasure Is” MESSAGE SUMMARY: This sermon begins a series which assembles important Biblical references to all aspects of money and finances and their influence and impact to help apply this Scripture to our lives today. The reason for this series is because money and possessions have captivated our culture. Jesus discusses “money” in His Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 6:19-21): “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.". The Bible does not condemn the accumulation of wealth and possessions. Rather, the Bible encourages hard work to produce and save wealth and possessions in combination with related generosity and thankfulness while always remembering that all “treasure” comes from God and is God's. It is clear, from the Bible, that God wants to bless us with what is necessary to live fruitful lives during our earthly life. However, the key to Jesus' warning, in Matthew 6:19-21, is ourselves and not the act of deriving money and “treasure”. It is when “money” and “treasure” and the process of their accumulation becomes an idol of ourselves then our lives' focus leads to our greed and materialism and away from a Kingdom focus. The Biblical reference to the “heart” represents our eye and soul of who we are – our lives' focus. If our “heart” is generous, we will have the insight into the light of God's Kingdom. However, if we are greedy and self-focused then we will become “self-deceived” – not seeing reality. Jesus emphasizes that we cannot serve (i.e. single-minded focus upon) both God and “money”. God could care less about our “money”; God is concerned about our “hearts”. If our “heart” is in the right place, them our “money” will be in the right place.   TODAY'S PRAYER: Keeping the Sabbath, Lord, will require a lot of changes in the way I am living life. Teach me, Lord, how to take the next step with this in a way that fits my unique personality and situation. Help me to trust you with all that will remain unfinished and to enjoy my humble place in your very large world. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 129). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
