What comes to mind when you hear the word church? John Mark challenges us to rethink our definition, exploring the deeper meaning of church as the "called out ones," a new humanity formed by Jesus to carry the kingdom of God to every corner of the world. He calls us to see church as a family that embodies the kingdom of God through everyday relationships, practices, and a shared mission to spread God's kingdom.Key Scripture Passages: Matthew 10v1-7, Matthew 16v13-18, Acts 1v6-9, Acts 2v1-4,41-47This podcast and its episodes are paid for by The Circle, our community of monthly givers. View the Funeral Bulletin for Mitchell FitzgeraldFuneral Service at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday February 14, 2024(Readings start at 6:30, Sermon starts at 11:20)First Reading -- Psalm 118:1-9 Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! Let Israel say, “His steadfast love endures forever.” Let the house of Aaron say, “His steadfast love endures forever.” Let those who fear the LORD say, “His steadfast love endures forever.” Out of my distress I called on the LORD; the LORD answered me and set me free. The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? The LORD is on my side as my helper; I shall look in triumph on those who hate me. It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes. Second Reading -- Ephesians 2:1-10 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience — among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Third Reading -- Matthew 6:25–33 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?' or ‘What shall we drink?' or ‘What shall we wear?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. The Gospel of Mark 5:1-20 They came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gerasenes. And when Jesus had stepped out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit. He lived among the tombs. And no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain, for he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he wrenched the chains apart, and he broke the shackles in pieces. No one had the strength to subdue him. Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always crying out and bruising himself with stones. And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and fell down before him. And crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.” For he was saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is Legion, for we are many.” And he begged him earnestly not to send them out of the country. Now a great herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, and they begged him, saying, “Send us to the pigs; let us enter them.” So he gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out, and entered the pigs, and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea and were drowned in the sea. The herdsmen fled and told it in the city and in the country. And people came to see what it was that had happened. And they came to Jesus and saw the demon-possessed man, the one who had had the legion, sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid. And those who had seen it described to them what had happened to the demon-possessed man and to the pigs. And they began to beg Jesus to depart from their region. As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him. And he did not permit him but said to him, “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Second Reading – 1 Chronicles 29:10-16 Therefore David blessed the LORD in the presence of all the assembly. And David said: “Blessed are you, O LORD, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever. Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name. “But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you. For we are strangers before you and sojourners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no abiding. O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have provided for building you a house for your holy name comes from your hand and is all your own. Third Reading -- John 17:1-10 When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed. “I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you. For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me. I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours. All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them. Service Participants Pastor: Rev. Funeral Service for Dorothea (Dottie) Mae HeslopMonday January 9, 202310:00 a.m. - Remembrance10:30 a.m. - ServiceView the Funeral BulletinFirst Reading – Acts 4:5-12 On the next day their rulers and elders and scribes gathered together in Jerusalem, with Annas the high priest and Caiaphas and John and Alexander, and all who were of the high-priestly family. And when they had set them in the midst, they inquired, “By what power or by what name did you do this?” Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders, if we are being examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed, let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well. This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Epistle Reading – 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18; 5:23-24 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words. Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it. Gospel Reading – John 11:17-27 Now when Jesus came, he found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb four days. Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles off, and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them concerning their brother. So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, but Mary remained seated in the house. Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.” Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.” Obituary On Sunday, December 31, 2022 Dorothea (Dottie) Mae Heslop, loving mother, passed away peacefully. She was 92. Born to Robert and Elsie Lincoln on October 7, 1930 in Quarryville Pennsylvania. Wife of the late Glenn R. Heslop and mother of the late James Heslop. She is survived by her children, Glenn Heslop Jr. (Atlanta, GA), Stephen Heslop (Pittsburgh), Deborah Sterba (Pittsburgh) and Christopher Heslop (Pittsburgh) and her 16 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Dottie was a quiet, kind and classy woman who loved her family. She loved to walk, exercise, read, play cards with her girlfriends, and was a long time member of the Zion Lutheran choir. She was also a piano player in her earlier years and loved to play on her white baby grand. Her other love was her toy fox terrier, Mindy, she loved that dog and never stopped talking about her. Dottie will be very missed by her family. Her smile, warmth, generosity and award-winning hugs will live on in the spirt of her family for years to come. Frank was born on June 8, 1928, in Bridgeville, PA, the eldest of six children born to Frank M. and Pauline (Engel) Oelschlager. Frank grew up during the Great Depression. At age 11 he went to work in Carozza's Market where he worked part-time as many as 6 days a week until completing high school. Frank then worked for an auto service station until he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. Following basic training in Colorado, he was stationed in Alaska, attaining the rank of sergeant. Upon his honorable discharge, Frank returned to Bridgeville and worked first at the Flannery Bolt Co. where his father worked, and later at the Universal Cyclops steel mill. In 1954 Frank met the love of his life through a bowling league. He and Irene (“Renie”) were married on May 11, 1956, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bridgeville, PA. Not long afterward, Frank was laid off from the steel mill, so he and Irene indulged in a honeymoon trip to Florida. Tired of the difficult conditions and unsteady employment of factory work, Frank decided to try a different path. He landed a Sales/Marketing job with Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania, where he worked for the remainder of his career. He eventually became the sales representative to Westinghouse Electric in Pittsburgh and was so appreciated by his customer they offered him a job! While working to support his family, Frank devoted time to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in West View, PA. Over the years he served in the roles of Sunday School Superintendent, Elder, Trustee, Vice President, and President. Upon retirement in 1985, Frank and Irene relocated to Melbourne, FL where they became active members of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Frank served in various roles including Elder, Vice President, President, and Custodian. He was also active in-service projects with the Telephone Pioneers of America. Frank and Irene traveled extensively. They visited all 50 states, Canada, Europe, China, Australia, New Zealand, and several countries in South America and the Caribbean. They also made visiting family in Pennsylvania a priority. When he wasn't volunteering or traveling, Frank filled his free time with DIY projects and household chores. He also enjoyed swimming, long walks, happy hour, and talking to anyone, anytime, anywhere. Following Irene's devastating stroke in 2014 Frank gave her countless hours of faithful companionship until her death in 2017, despite suffering from depression which led him to isolate himself from supportive friends and to drop most of the activities he had previously enjoyed. His own physical decline the last year of his life only exacerbated that illness. Frank is survived by his two children, Eric Oelschlager, and April (Richard) Drucker; his brothers, Robert (Sandy) and Wilbur (Kay) Oelschlager; his sisters, Jane Kozak, Judy Dames, and Carol Lockhart; and 14 nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 61 years, and five nieces and nephews. The family has chosen to hold a memorial service and celebration of life this summer in Frank's hometown of Bridgeville, PA. At that time, his and Irene's cremains will be buried together at Melrose Cemetery. Details will be announced at a later date. The family wishes to acknowledge Beverly Floyd for being a friend to Frank and Irene, and for providing support that enabled Frank to live independently since Irene's death, until the last few months of his life. Special thanks also to Pastors Ron Myer and Kevin Duff and the lay ministers of Faith Viera Lutheran in Rockledge for attending to Frank's spiritual needs, and to the care teams at AdventHealth Medical Center in Lake Wales, and Brookdale Conway Assisted Living and Cornerstone Hospice in Orlando. Expressions of condolence may be made to the family using the Tribute Wall of this obituary. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank's memory may be made to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) at www.nami.org or to your local community of Christian faith.

LACY J. DALTON  With hard-luck songs that reflected her real-life experience, Lacy J. Dalton became one of the most popular “outlaw” country singer of the early 1980s. After winning a Country Music Association Award as Best New Female Vocalist in 1979, she released a series of albums that were both commercial and critical successes. A popular concert attraction as well, Dalton sometimes played over 300 dates a year throughout the 1980s and released an album of original material almost every year. Dalton slowed her pace somewhat in the 1990s as she entered her fourth decade in the music business. Settling in Nevada, she continued to record and perform; in 1999 she established the Let 'em Ride Foundation, an organization devoted to helping save wild horses. Lacy J. Dalton was born Jill Byrem on October 13, 19nonyadambizness, in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania's. Her father, who played the guitar, mandolin, and banjo, worked as a hunting guide on a nature preserve; her mother was a waitress and bartender. Both parents enjoyed singing country songs. As she later recalled in an interview with Time in 1980, “I loved the songs more than the singing. Country music is a storytelling art.” Despite her appreciation of music, Dalton decided to study art at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Utah after she finished high school. She completed one year at BYU before deciding that her artistic talent was not enough for a career in the field. She moved Minnesota, where she worked as a short-order cook and began singing with some local folk musicians. It was the beginning of a career in music, although it took more than a decade for Dalton to sign a recording contract. SYLVIA HUTTON (SYLVIA) Sylvia Hutton known professionally by her first name Sylvia is an country music singer and songwriter. Her biggest hit was the single "Nobody" in 1982. Her country hits include "Drifter", "Fallin' in Love", "Tumbleweed" and "Snapshot". She was named Female Vocalist of the Year by the Academy of Country Music for 1982. She is also credited with making the first "concept" music video clip to air on Country Music Television (CMT), with "The Matador". On this week's EcoNews Report, planning expert Dan Zack joins Gang Green to talk about “urbanism” — a term that might sound scary for rural Humboldt County. But despite its name, principles of urban design can be applied across the whole of the county, from Bridgeville to Eureka. Because at its core, urbanism is just about making planning work for humans. Dan also breaks down “form based codes,” a relatively new idea in urban planning that is at the heart of the Gateway Area Plan, Arcata's new planning effort to allow for mixed-use infill development near the city's core.Like what you hear? Penn State recruiting isn't just coaches convincing players to join a program. Some of the team's best recruiters are the players already committed to a class. For the Class of 2023, one of those recruiters is cornerback Lamont Payne. The three-star defensive back from Chartiers Valley in Bridgeville, PA, sat down with film analyst and host of the BWI Daily Edition, Thomas Frank Carr. They discussed Lamont's offseason progress, playing hurt in 2023, and who he is pushing to get a commitment from among Penn State's 2023 targets. Payne Focused on Football T-Frank begins with getting up-to-speed with where Payne is right now in his offseason progress. The Pittsburgh native doesn't play basketball, so he's focused on improving his game, getting bigger, and prepping for track season. First, he updates T-Frank on how much muscle he's put on this winter and on what parts of his game he's focused on improving. They also discuss Payne's play from the 2021 season. T-Frank comments that one of the rising senior's best traits is his physicality at the line of scrimmage. Is that why Payne is adding the weight? What led to him playing that way. Payne gives excellent insight into what he knows about his strengths and why he plays the way he does. Then, he talks about the college and NFL corners he watches to improve his play. Penn State recruiting in 2023, not just for coaches After that, T-Frank asks Payne what he thinks about his classmates and the group of players that the Penn State coaches have assembled so far. Where does he see the strength of the class? Who is he recruiting on the defensive side of the ball? Payne gives his thoughts on the subject and names several key defensive targets, including four-star linebackers Ta'Mere Robinson and Tony Rojas, along with several other players in the Pittsburgh and Virginia areas. Finally, they go deeper into Payne's game. After suffering an injury early in the year, it wasn't an easy season for Payne. So how did he overcome the situation? First, he talks about the injury and then what toughness means to him as a football player. T-Frank gives more observations about Payne's playing style and usage at Chartier's Valley. What does he learn from playing slot receiver that can help him as a defensive back? Payne opens up about that and what he thinks the key is to his ability to make plays on the ball. #PennState #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annual SUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmation Bookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/ Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: http://bluewhiteonline.com Download our podcasts: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/LRL3155877513?selected=DSVV2664982394 Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/ Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3 Sound effects obtained from https://www.zapsplat.com Learn more about your ad choices. My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God. Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, at your altars, O LORD of hosts, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house, ever singing your praise! Epistle Reading – 1 John 3:1-3 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure. Gospel Reading – John 14:1-6 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. VIew the Bulletin for Monday June 7, 2021 — Funeral Service for Janet Hickey9:30 a.m. Viewing at Zion Lutheran Church10:00 a.m. Funeral service at Zion Lutheran ChurchFirst Reading – Genesis 2:15-17; 3:1-6The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”… Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made.He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden'?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'” But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.Second Reading – Habakkuk 3:17-19aThough the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. GOD, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer's; he makes me tread on my high places.Third Reading – John 3:16-18a“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned.Obituary for Janet HickeyJanet Ann Hickey, age 73, of Castle Shannon, passed away on June 1, 2021. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD. It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth. Let him sit alone in silence when it is laid on him; let him put his mouth in the dust— there may yet be hope; let him give his cheek to the one who strikes, and let him be filled with insults. For the Lord will not cast off forever. Second Reading – Revelation 21:1-4 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Gospel Reading – John 14:1-7 “Let not your hearts be troubled. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” OBITUARYJohn D. Hoelle | Born: October 10th, 1928 | Entered eternal rest in Christ: May 10th, 2021 Age 92, of Mt. Lebanon, on May 10, 2021. View the Funeral Bulletin for Peter FisherService Time: 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2021First Reading – Isaiah 25:6-9 On this mountain the LORD of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined. And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken. It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” Second Reading – Romans 6:3-9 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.Gospel Reading – Luke 2:25-32 Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.”Obituary Peter Robert Fisher, 82, of Pittsburgh, PA died at home on Wednesday, January 20. Despite his struggles with cancer in the past 14 months he remained a caring man of faith, generosity, persistent patience, and deep love for his God, family and friends. Peter was born in New Eagle, PA on 23 March 1938 to David Curl and Ellen Marie (Brady) Fisher. The oldest of four, he is survived by Theresa Mae Fisher, Jonathan David Fisher both of Pittsburgh, and Mary Ellen (Fisher) Landon (Jerry Forderhase) of NYC. Peter graduated from Greensburg High School and Carnegie-Mellon University, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. It was at CMU that he met his loving wife of almost 60 years Barbara Anna (Grau). He is also survived by his children Kirk Peter (Sondra Vernau) and Kirsten Laurel Fisher-Price (Allen Price), grandchildren, Jocelyn Nicole Fisher, Patrick Uriah Fisher, Ethan Robert Fisher and niece, Brady Michelle Landon-Forderhase. While he was a man of many talents and accomplishments, the overarching trajectory of Peter’s life is that of a designer. As a younger man, he professionally managed the design of transformers for McGraw Edison, while at home he designed and made furniture. His love for design and craft manifested itself in everything he did including: wooden boxes, metal buttons, jewelry, poems and stories. He worked with widely varied groups of people, professionally: Board member of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, liaison for The Ben Franklin Partnership, mentor for CMU management game undergraduates. And, also, designed meetings of minds and conversations, personally: creating a Saturday breakfast Bible study group, forming the ROMEOs (retired old men eating out), President of Christ Lutheran, an elder for two congregations. Everyone, whether family, friend or co-worker, experienced his pleasure in sharing unique ideas. He and Barbara traveled with a mutual desire to soak in art, culture and cuisine of domestic and European places. In his middle age, Peter bought his sports car and enjoyed many subsequent excursions with Barbara and the West Penn Miata Club. He also designed a tenet with which he would strive to live out the rest of his life: “God, family and friends” in that order. And to be with the Saints when they come marching in. We will miss him and look forward to that day. Memorial gifts can be sent to Zion Lutheran Church, 3197 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA 15017, or Good Samaritan Hospice, 116 Browns Hill Road, Suite 100, Valencia, PA 16059

Western Pennsylvania Game Changers with Chris Hoke

Join co-hosts Chris, Lisa and Tim as they are joined by this month's special guest, Meghan Anderson, Executive Director of Gallagher Hospice. First, Tim shares recent volunteer experiences with the American Red Cross of Southwestern Pennsylvania, and discusses its great need for volunteers in disaster-relief situations (they happen much more often that you might think). Then Meghan discusses the profoundly uplifting and important work Gallagher Hospice does for people with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones. Meghan also discusses the important role that volunteers play at Gallagher Hospice. If you are looking to provide comfort and relief to individuals and families who are facing end of life situations, volunteering at a hospice center, such as Gallagher Hospice, could be a perfect fit for you! This week, in Bridgeville, Delaware, a complex web of relationships emerge, causing a ton of strife. People marry, divorce, get back together, then marry one of their spouse's relatives. A brutal murder takes place, only to raise suspicions. You know what that means... more murder! Cover ups, shallow graves, and destroyed families follow, leading to some seriously interesting court proceedings. This one is a mess!! Along the way, we find out that scrapple is apparently a fruit that is easily tossed, that when you divorce, you might want to avoid marrying another member of your ex's family, and that graves should probably never be shallow!!
