It can be easy to think “I'm just not a confident person” But confidence isn't something you have to be born with. Like any other skill, you can practice behaviors to grow that skill. Our guest today is Emily Jaenson, a keynote speaker, host of the hit podcast Leadership is Female, and co-founder of The Assist Group a collective of experienced sports professionals ready to step in and provide sales, marketing & leadership consulting. Emily has an impressive resume in sports and thought leadership, but at one time she was too shy to even order a pizza. She shares her journey leaving her small town to attend university where she realized she needed to level up and that could only be accomplished with confidence! She pushed through one uncomfortable situation after another taking them as opportunities to grow and even take on leadership roles helping others grow. One way Emily has been able to help others grow is with her TEDx talk “Six behaviors to increase your confidence” which has been viewed more than 3 million times. Emily discusses how the TEDx talk was the culmination of years of knowledge, experience, and interviews from her podcast distilled into an incredibly impactful twelve-minute talk. The talk was so impactful that corporations began to reach out to her to deliver that message to their employees. We learn how she took this opportunity to grow her business, going on the offense creating a website, networking, and developing a pitch to take her content to the world instead of waiting for it to come to her. We wrap up our conversation with Emily giving examples from her career on the behaviors others can practice to get through tough times, expand their comfort zone, and ultimately grow their confidence! Three Key Takeaways: · Once you have content out in the world you can't sit and wait for the clients to come to you. You need to network and take the content to the people who need it most. · People tend to believe you are born with confidence or you're not. However, confidence is a skill. It can be taught and learned. · Confidence is competence. And you gain competence through curiosity.

He discusses his experiences working with a psychic medium and the profound messages he has witnessed being delivered to complete strangers. He also explores the power of open conversations and challenging beliefs, as well as his own exploration of meditation and manifestation. KEY TAKEAWAYS We need to value the importance of being open to new information and opinions. Shaun encourages open-mindedness and curiosity in understanding the unexplained. There is great value in being there for others and creating a safe space for open conversations about mental health. We should encourage kindness, empathy, and reaching out to strangers in need. There is a deep interconnectedness between all living beings and the energy that binds us together. BEST MOMENTS "I describe myself actually on a regular basis as a serial volunteer." "I think there is quite often there are answers for certain things so I always look for the logical answer first." "I'm very much in the, you know, I want to drill down into this." "I think anybody that's got a reasonable amount of confidence about them would step in and intervene." Smart Agency Masterclass with Jason Swenk: Podcast for Digital Marketing Agencies
Do you have the confidence to charge what you're worth? Do your clients understand your agency's value? Understanding your value is an important part of growing your agency. It requires strategy and attracting the right clients. Most of all it requires a lot of confidence. If you truly believe in yourself and your pricing, the right clients won't think twice about paying it. Today's guest specializes in taking her clients to the very highest levels in the market. She believes agency owners need to stop charging mainstream prices and start charging luxury prices in order to scale faster. Kathryn Porritt is the owner of Icons Incorporated, a boutique agency that helps personal brands make the transition from mainstream pricing to luxury offers. Their clients land multi-million dollar deals in one transaction! They usually have big consulting gigs and commercial deals. Icon's job is to create connections for people for the sake of leveraging their personal brands at the very highest level. In this interview, we'll discuss: Growing your agency by starting at the top. Positioning yourself as the best at what you do. Why niching down is an important part of finding confidence. Subscribe Apple | Spotify | iHeart Radio | Stitcher | Radio FM Sponsors and Resources E2M Solutions: Today's episode of the Smart Agency Masterclass is sponsored by E2M Solutions, a web design and development agency that has provided white-label services for the past 10 years to agencies all over the world. Check out e2msolutions.com/smartagency and get 10% off for the first three months of service. What Are You Left With if You Don't Build Your Brand? When they start their business, agency owners tend not to put enough into growing their own brand. The thinking being it is essentially to not get too involved so the agency is more attractive for potential buyers upon the owner's eventual exit. For her part, Kathryn has gone through a similar process where she created, grew, and sold an agency. After the sale, she thought “what am I left with?” Without another business, advisory gigs, or book deal to fall back on, she had to take the lessons learned and start over. After that experience, she advises agency owners to work on both their personal brand and the agency's marketing in parallel. In the end, it takes time to build a personal brand into something profitable -- and now is the right moment to start. Even if you ultimately decide to sell, if you've protected your personal brand, you probably have a list of people who will follow you on other projects. That's freedom. It allows you to explore other things once you sell. This way, you' can build a profitable brand and have a legacy. Starting at the Top and Growing Your Agency With a Luxury Pricing Model At some point, agency owners wanting to grow their business need to increase prices. Most of the time, they don't even have a reason to justify their current prices. For Kathryn, part of the problem is most have experience with charging mainstream prices. Mainstream business strategies teach an ascension model, where you start from the bottom, build an audience, increase your offers, and eventually find people who will pay high ticket prices. The core problem is most agency owners are not aware there's a different way to get to the top. They don't teach you the luxury strategy. The main difference between the mainstream and luxury models is that the latter will start at the top and then works its way down to still create an impact. In essence, with the luxury model, you understand you have a true leadership position in the market. These are trendsetters and are not looking to the market for answers about what they're building. When you start at the top, you're in the #1 position and work with fewer clients. For agencies, this means working really deeply with a handful of clients. Kathryn finds clients who work at this level are easier to work with. Of course, you have to be really good at what you do. If you can provide a really specific world-class solution to a problem, then you can absolutely start at the top. The key element is having the audacity to go after a core set of clients who will invest heavily to have that world-class proximity. How to Position Your Agency in a Luxury Model According to Kathryn, in order to position yourself in a luxury model you must drop humility at the door. It sounds harsh, but it doesn't mean you can't be a good or nice person. There's also no need to post pictures with a private jet and brag about how much money you have. In reality, it's about showing such a level of confidence and certainty that you are magnetic. Kathryn calls it “iconic embodiment” which is the moment where you step into the most arrogant version of yourself. This is the key to positioning the luxury model. If, as an entrepreneur, you can walk into a meeting, sales call, or pitch with that level of power and the knowledge that you're the right person for the job, you'll be unstoppable. What if you don't think you're the best? There is a space for all experts to claim as their own and where they can with all certainty and integrity claim to be the best. You may not be the best in the world for everyone. But you can certainly be the best for the right people. It shouldn't be about pretending but rather about really believing you're exactly what that client needs. This is why niching down and knowing your audience is such an important part of finding your confidence. In the end, knowing your worth is a very attractive quality. If you don't know it, then nobody else will. Is this the Right Time to Charge Luxury Prices? With the economy being what it is right now, you may want to change your offering a bit and work with a handful of clients who can afford it. If you're starting to find it quite difficult at the low end of the market, is there a strategy where you could work with clients more deeply? Think about how you could restructure your agency so that you're providing more attention to each client and be paid at a higher level. Do You Want to Transform Your Agency from a Liability to an Asset? If you want to be around amazing agency owners that can see what you may not be able to see and help you grow your agency, go to Agency Mastery 360. Our agency growth program helps you take a 360-degree view of your agency and gain mastery of the 3 pillar systems (attract, convert, scale) so you can create predictability, wealth, and freedom.
In this episode, Ben speaks to Aaron Zagha, Chief Marketing Officer at Newton Baby. In this episode, Aaron shares why marketing teams are perhaps overly pessimistic today, but can increase their optimism if they focus on driving decisions through data and relying on "gold standards" to continue to engage customers. Topics discussed: The current state of marketing today, and how it's overly pessimistic — and why it shouldn't be. What gold standards in marketing you should focus on to weather industry changes — like asking your customers directly why they purchased — and why consistently turning to data will help you make more informed tactical changes. Why Newton Baby doubled down on influencer marketing, and how they use influencers to engage customers and drive sales. Which channels are no longer working, and the pivots Newton Baby had to make to ensure they were spending their marketing budget wisely. How to tackle personalization at scale, and the effort it takes to do it effectively. Advice for marketers who want to improve their efforts, including the importance of learning statistics. What current trends, like generative AI, are creating the future of marketing, and why the future of marketing could go anywhere. Various press reports have indicated that the Biden administration intends to release its cyber strategy in the coming weeks. The cyber strategy will likely cover a range of issues. One potential topic could involve the creation of a federal response or “backstop” to the financial exposure risks that insurers and reinsurers face from future catastrophic cyber incidents affecting those that they insure. To talk about the pros and cons of a federal backstop for the cyber insurance ecosystem, Lawfare senior editor Stephanie Pell sat down with Bryan Cunningham, executive director of the Cybersecurity Research and Policy Institute at the University California, Irvine, who co-authored the article, “Uncle Sam Re: Improving Cyber Hygiene and Increasing Confidence in the Cyber Insurance Ecosystem via Government Backstopping.” They talked about what is keeping cyber insurance executives up at night, why the cyber insurance industry has not incentivized better cyber hygiene by the insured, and how a federally funded backstop could assist in shoring up the cyber insurance ecosystem.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/lawfare. Satire Culture flattens people because they don't want to become the joke. To combat this more of your identity needs to be built on your desired contribution than your criticism. Personality testing is great when it is a tool, not a crutch. Your lack of confidence may actually be your issue, and your confidence can be developed like anything else.

LMNT has become a staple in my own training and something we are excited to offer to our coaches and student-athletes as well. So, we always go to what are we telling ourselves? Because what we think about most becomes our reality and what we think about, we move towards what we think about most.[00:07:27] Situations happen every day, but we do get to control how we think about it.[00:08:20] Our thoughts lead to our emotions and how we feel.[00:08:52] Feelings lead to actions. We take action or not. Inaction is also an action.[00:09:32] We get our results in life based on the action that we take or don't take.[00:11:43] Let your actions drive your emotions, not the other way around.[00:12:28] What are the thoughts right now today that are like running around in your head? Get them out and decide which ones you want to keep decide, which ones you're like, okay, that's ridiculous. Why am I even thinking that, get rid of that? And which ones are you going to change to be more productive?[00:12:43] Productive thinking is more important than positive thinking.[00:17:25] Just stopping all physical and working on mental isn't the only way that you can do mental training.[00:18:14] They shank a pass in that moment mentally, they're taking a breath, they're saying the reset word, the focusing on what they want to see for the next one. So, they're practicing a mental skill right there.[00:19:07] Two clap. You mess up, clap frustration, clap to energize.[00:19:42] It's one breath, a reset word, and a gesture of their choice.[00:20:45] Every water break, you're going to do your mistake ritual. So that, it's something that your body knows to respond to.[00:23:39] Today, we're going to write down 10 things that you're proud of and athletes struggle with that…think about things in your life that you're proud of to remind yourself what you're capable of.[00:24:25] We're talking about like the three things that we did well that we want to repeat, and the one thing that we're going to work on and an action plan to improve it, not I'm just going to beat myself up about it.[00:24:45] Habit reshaping has a hundred percent failure rate when you try to work on more than one at a time. That's what the research says.[00:28:20] What do you see? What do you smell? What does it feel like? What feelings are going on? We want to create that picture with as much detail as you can.[00:30:02] The athletes that aren't able to trust that they have a way to recover either, through visualization, through having a mistake ritual, they just don't ever perform to the level that we as coaches know they could.[00:32:20] Stay in the moment and repeat the moment based on what the circumstance calls for, not your fear of failure.[00:34:31]If you have strong female coaches and strong leaders It's not as celebrated as much, and we're told some, dial it down a little bit and don't go there and constantly even to the point where like we're not offered opportunities in the same way.[00:34:45]We really want to make sure that females are learning how to step into their authentic selves and learning how to be leaders that embrace just who they are.[00:35:45]Don't apologize for being competitive. Don't apologize for the way in which you show up, even though society is telling you differently.

In this episode, we continue our discussion on how Role-playing creates change and increases confidence in children and adults. If you haven’t listened to Part 1, we recommend you go back to episode 91. https://adhd.smarterparenting.com/e/ep-91-creating-change-while-increasing-confidence-part-1/ All of us have biases based on our life experiences. These biases can make it hard for us to see another person’s viewpoint, which can hinder communication. One of the benefits of Role-playing is that it allows us to feel empathy for another person which helps us break down our biases. By understanding where someone is coming from, we can focus on building better relationships as we can improve and positively address things. This is especially important for helping your child with ADHD as they tend to see the world differently, and understanding how they see it goes a long way to understanding and finding solutions. These biases also come into play in how we process the good or bad that someone is experiencing. When good things happen, we believe that it’s because of something we’ve done, and when bad things happen, it’s due to external forces. Using Role-playing to increase empathy and understanding will have a ripple effect on your family and your relationships. If you are unsure how to use Role-playing, we hope you will join the Smarter Parenting Club where Siope Kinikini will be able to walk you through Role-playing and what you need to do to help your family find success. https://club.smarterparenting.com/ For show notes and transcript visit: https://www.smarterparenting.com/adhd-parenting-podcast/
Let Siope Kinikini help you find solutions and create success. Join the Smarter Parenting Club! https://club.smarterparenting.com/ Have you ever expected your kid to behave a certain way and then got frustrated when they didn’t? We have. Just because you know what to do at a restaurant or greet someone, doesn’t mean that they do. Kids act up because they don’t know how to act. If you want them to behave a certain way, they need to be shown how, and they need to practice. It’s why Role-playing is so helpful for children. Role-playing allows them to know what is expected and helps them practice until they feel comfortable doing it. Feeling prepared will increase their confidence and reduce feelings of anxiety or frustration. We can teach behavior skills on Smarter Parenting, but without Role-playing, they won’t be successful. In part one of our podcast on Role-playing, Parenting Coaching Siope Kinkini helps parents understand three benefits children will gain when using role-playing. The first benefit is that they will gain an understanding of social situations and how to respond. They will know the difference in interacting with friends versus interacting with a teacher. Second, they will learn what vocabulary to use in different situations. The words we use will be different when talking to our friends’ verses when we speak to a teacher or a boss. Lastly, it will teach them empathy and understanding. When a child can see things from the other person’s point of view, they are more likely to create solutions that benefit both sides. Role-playing is so powerful. We can’t wait for your family to use it and harness its power. In the Smarter Parenting Club we walk you through making Role-plays successful. https://club.smarterparenting.com/ For full show notes and transcript visit: https://www.smarterparenting.com/adhd-parenting-podcast/

Join Charles Johnson and Jasmine on the 85th episode on the Walk By Faith Show. We discuss how to overcome fear, increase confidence, and build our faith with Christ with tips and tools from the Successologist. Mr. Charles W. Johnson was born and raised in a military home with strong moral beliefs. Being the son of a retired Sergeant Major and an assistant school teacher turned Pastor in a small town in Lumberton, NC high expectations were placed on him. Soon after leaving college Charles followed the footsteps of his mother and started pastoring a small church. That small church in Raleigh, NC began to grow but Charles was silently suffering. He did not understand how God could be blessing the members of his church and even his close friends but he struggled to find the success he was looking for. Until one day Charles had what he calls an “argument with God” where he challenges God to tell him what the problem was and how he was going to fix it. Charles says that late one night after yelling and screaming at God, Charles got the revelation of a lifetime. God said to him “Charles this is all your fault, as you think in your heart so are you!” After that night Charles started on a journey to success that has been phenomenal from traveling across the world to speak in Canada, Bahamas and Dubai to speaking at universities, colleges, corporate events, national speaking events and business networking events around the US. Now, Charles wants to help you experience your own success story! He is the Successologist! I first met Kara Goucher a few years ago on the RallySport pool deck standing around in bikinis while our kids were swimming. Kara had just moved to Boulder and was back in the groove of professional racing after having a baby a few years prior. She is a highly decorated distance runner, and has been one of the best runners in America for over a decade. Kara started running in grade school but she really began to tap into her potential after college moving up in distance, running the 5000m and 10000m finals in the 2008 Olympics and then making her way to the Marathon earning 10th place in the 2012 Olympics. She just barely missed the Olympic team in 2016 and since then has begun to see her career in a different light. Her goals today are very different than even three years ago. She is more focused on living a happy life fully present in the moment. My biggest regret as I reflected on this interview is that I didn’t get to know Kara sooner. I love this woman. She is fun, real, insightful, compassionate, and deeply truthful. She lives by her values and when she feels that something is amiss, she fights hard until she resolves the issue and can find that peace again. But it wasn’t always that way for her. Today we talk about: Relationships: Marriage to another running superstar How you redefine yourself through the seasons of your life Becoming less scared of what happens when she isn't a fast runner anymore Kara's purpose today: Being in the moment Fertility challenges Motherhood & how it immediately changed her How Kara stopped searching for happiness through results & then found happiness Confidence - Why that word is so important. Check out Kara's upcoming book Strong: A Runner's Guide to Increasing Confidence and Becoming the Best Version of You - you can preorder now on Amazon for $20 Courage especially as it relates to doing the right thing even if you feel as if you are betraying others like when she exposed her former coach in regards to performance-enhancing methods in training Staying young even as your age grows older I know you will find yourself wanting more Kara after you listen to this one. You’ll be happy to know that you CAN get more Kara as she is offering her Podium Retreat in September in Boulder, so we’ll keep you posted on that too. Let me leave you with Kara's final nugget something that I think you will feel and embrace through this entire episode, “Be kind; not just to other people. Be kind to yourself.” Today's episode is sponsored by Health IQ - they help healthy individuals find better rates on life insurance. The process is smooth, and they really deliver, so if you're interested in life insurance (or if you're like me and realized it's time to get serious after you had a kid!), check them out.
