Steven Spielberg says his new film Disclosure Day contains "more truth than fiction" and suggests non-human intelligences may already be here. Is Hollywood preparing us for disclosure—or something far more deceptive? Richard Syrett welcomes filmmaker and author L.A. Marzulli to examine Spielberg's astonishing claims through a provocative biblical lens, asking whether the greatest mystery isn't who "they" are, but what they are. GUEST: L.A. Marzulli is an author, filmmaker, lecturer, and host of the L.A. Marzulli Insights podcast. For more than three decades, he has investigated UFOs, ancient prophecy, the Nephilim, megalithic sites, and the supernatural from a biblical perspective. Through his bestselling books and acclaimed documentaries, Marzulli argues that the entities behind the UFO phenomenon are not extraterrestrials, but interdimensional intelligences with profound spiritual implications. Welcome back to Not A Bomb! — the podcast where we resurrect cinema's most infamous box office disasters and ask the burning question: is it a bomb? This week, the guys march into the chaos of Steven Spielberg's 1979 war comedy 1941. Fresh off the unprecedented successes of Jaws and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Spielberg was handed the ultimate Hollywood blank check to make whatever he wanted. The result was an enormous, effects-driven comedy about panic erupting across Southern California in the days following Pearl Harbor. While 1941 wasn't a full-blown box office bomb, it fell well short of the massive expectations surrounding Spielberg's first comedy, becoming one of the earliest examples of how even Hollywood's hottest director wasn't immune to a stumble. But was the film unfairly judged, or is 1941 simply too loud, too chaotic, and too overstuffed for its own good? Troy and Brad break down the film's incredible cast, jaw-dropping practical effects, and the fascinating production that saw Spielberg pushing his filmmaking ambitions to new heights. The hosts also discuss how the film's reputation has evolved over the decades, why it has developed a passionate cult following, and how its perceived failure may have helped shape Spielberg's remarkable run of classics that followed.Sound the air raid sirens, keep an eye on the Ferris wheel, and join Not A Bomb as they revisit one of Hollywood's most fascinating near-misses, proving that sometimes even a box office disappointment can become an unforgettable piece of blockbuster history.Want to help support the show? Send us Fan MailAngelo, Rhea, and Jay are back to discuss Steven Spielberg falling off a cliff. Disclosure Day scored a huge opening weekend — $44 million domestic, $92.8 million worldwide, bigger than E.T., Saving Private Ryan, or The Fabelmans — and then dropped a staggering 62% in weekend two, landing a soft B CinemaScore on a $115 million budget that now needs to claw its way toward $300 million just to break even. Angelo reviews it, then discusses what went wrong.THEN: YouTube wiped out 16 faceless AI channels in a single sweep this year... 35 million subscribers, 4.7 billion lifetime views, and nearly $10 million in annual ad revenue, gone overnight. Is this the most ominous sign yet that low-effort consumption, the background YouTube videos and the filler Spotify tracks, is the first thing AI just quietly takes over? And the gang's real fight: does it even matter if nobody was paying close attention in the first place?ALL THAT PLUS: Widow's Bay, the merits of a Vancouver vacation without air conditioning, a harrowing new documentary on Netflix and much MUCH more!MAKE SURE TO VISIT OUR SPONSOR: Steven Singer Jewelers! The TV Show is a weekly podcast hosted by Jay Black, with regular guests Angelo Cataldi and Rhea Hughes. In this episode a group of students and patrons join me to reflect on the recent Venus-Jupiter conjunction in Cancer, and to share stories of how it manifested in our lives based on which of the twelve houses it was transiting in their birth charts. The episode opens with a brief introduction where I talk about the importance of taking into account both the entire range of the sign-based conjunction or copresence between Venus and Jupiter, which lasted from May 18 until June 13, as well as the more intense range of the degree-based conjunction which went exact on June 9. After that I interview several people about their experience of the conjunction, looking at how it functioned in various houses alongside examples of notable public figures who also experienced this transit.
Yup yup!! Disasterpiece is in full effect this week as Justin and Steve breakdance and break down Vanilla Ice's 1991 star vehicle, Cool as Ice.This steamless riff on Romeo and Juliet is a soggy mess that didn't do Vanilla Ice, or anyone involved, any favors. But just like how the movie's charmless lead is able to steal a nice girl away from her boyfriend, this film somehow landed the Academy Award-winning cinematographer of Schindler's List (and almost every Spielberg movie that followed). So even at its lowest lows, Cool as Ice looks like a million bucks. So sit back, relax, say word to your mother, and get ready to know more than anyone ever should about Vanilla Ice. And if you're lucky, you might even find out what a Roni is.Check out more from Justin here: justindodd.rocksCheck out more from Steve here: stevejhward.comdrinkgenies.com
The Cinematic Schematic hosts Caleb Masters and Laron Chapman return to the normally scheduled programming to review Steven Spielberg's fifth film exploring the mysteries of extraterrestrials, Disclosure Day, with special guest Nick Sanford. The post ‘Disclosure Day' Brings Spielberg's Lifelong Alien Obsession Full Circle appeared first on The Cinematropolis.
When “Jaws” hit theatres in 1975, no one—neither the studio executives involved nor the film's twenty-six-year-old director, Steven Spielberg—was betting on its success. But it dominated at the box office and promptly revolutionized the way movies were promoted, distributed, and merchandised. On this episode of Critics at Large, Vinson Cunningham, Naomi Fry, and Alexandra Schwartz trace how Spielberg inaugurated a new phenomenon in Hollywood: the blockbuster. He would tap his own playbook again and again with such hits as “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” “E.T.,” and “Jurassic Park,” all of which drew impressive audiences and profits. The hosts talk through his filmography, culminating in his new release, “Disclosure Day,” which both replicates and iterates on themes and techniques found in his earlier work. Though other directors may share his capacity for spectacle and action-packed set pieces, much of his appeal lies in his profound earnestness. “What Spielberg is so good at is bringing the human to the fore in these extreme, sci-fi circumstances,” Schwartz says. “And that's what makes a great blockbuster.” New episodes of The New Yorker Radio Hour drop every Tuesday and Friday. Join host David Remnick as he discusses the latest in politics, news, and current events in conversation with political leaders, newsmakers, innovators, New Yorker staff writers, authors, actors, and musicians. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
Disclosure Day is not Steven Spielberg’s first film about the confirmation of alien life, nor is it the first such Spielberg film we’ve discussed on this podcast — that would be Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which we covered a decade ago. But Spielberg’s latest is specifically concerned with whether humanity possesses the empathy to process such a revelation, a question that led us directly to his 1982 classic E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, about the empathetic link between a 10-year-old boy and an orphaned alien that crash-lands in the forest outside his suburban home. So this week we’re revisiting E.T. to consider how Spielberg, with a crucial assist from Melissa Mathison’s screenplay, navigates the sentimentality of a story that’s all about feelings. Then in Feedback, our recent episode on Babe: Pig in the City prompted a listener to share their own recommendation for an unusually dark kids’ movie. (#529) Please share your thoughts about E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Disclosure Day, or anything else in the world of film, by sending an email or voice memo to comments@nextpictureshow.net, or leaving a short voicemail at (773) 234-9730. It's certainly a movie, and we all saw it! None of us thought it was bad, per se? And there are definitely some godless topics to discuss from the movie, as well. Is it a Spielberg masterpiece? No, but the score is by John Williams, so it's got that going for it.We obviously spoil this one, but if you've seen the trailer you basically already know everything in store for you.

We'll also discuss Steven Spielberg's film Disclosure Day and the long-standing claims that Spielberg may have been briefed on aspects of the phenomenon through government channels, despite his public statements to the contrary. Bryce also shares the fascinating story of how Spielberg's team reportedly attempted to stop the production Dark Skies during its original run. Finally, we discuss whistleblower David Grusch's first on-camera interview with NewsNation, the unreleased extended interview conducted by Ross Coulthart at Bryce's home, and why that full conversation has yet to air. ¿Volveremos a ver buenas estrategias? O my God, I trust in thee. Let me not be ashamed, let not my enemies triumph over me. With Steven Spielberg's latest film Disclosure Day hitting theatres this month, we decided to revisit one of his most successful movies of all time and one that we have not discussed in great detail before. 1998's Saving Private Ryan was a hugely influential film that redefined action movies for decades to come, but does it hold up in 2026 or is it FUBAR? Is Spielberg always ahead of the curve with his casting choices? Is this an anti-war movie and is such a thing even possible? Would the Call of Duty video games exist without this movie? Which members of the Film Junk crew would have survived WWII? Earn this and download this week's episode of Film Junk.
Steven Spielberg's sci-fi conspiracy thriller Disclosure Day continues his career-long fascination with extraterrestrial life. Starring Emily Blunt and Josh O'Connor as two strangers being pursued by a shadowy military contractor, this film is a showcase for Spielberg's blockbuster expertise - although it also features some puzzling attitudes toward religion and conspiracy theories, culminating in a very divisive final act.
Ep. 15 - In this jam-packed summer episode, we break down major industry shakeups, starting with Fox's massive $22 billion acquisition of Roku and SpaceX surging past Microsoft in market cap to become the fourth-largest U.S. company. This week, we herald the return of Steven Spielberg and one more foray into the alien sci-fi genre with Disclosure Day. Those expecting blockbuster thrills might be a little thrown to instead receive a talky, late-style plea for empathy and the transformative power of truth. The question, however, is if it's too late. We discuss Spielberg, his recent oeuvre, and the million things he has on his mind with Disclosure Day.
The subject of disclosure is a hot topic. We failed Spielberg movies and false claims of unredacted truths that end up solid black documents, it's time to ask, what do we think disclosure means? In this episode, we'll discuss data centers, space programs and the hottest topic alien uap ufos. Enjoy. Source

It’s about a meteorologist and a cybersecurity expert who find themselves at the center of a movement to expose the government's cover-up of extraterrestrial secrets. This week the BGH crew emerges from the theater to review Steven Spielberg's “Disclosure Day”, and along the way asks the question; What happens when an 80 year old tries to say something profound and completely misses the mark? We also talk about tall greys, our own feelings on aliens and whether or not the world would even blink twice if someone actually attempted full disclosure. Disclosure Day is a 2026 American science fiction thriller film directed and produced by Steven Spielberg from a screenplay by David Koepp, based on a story by Spielberg. The film stars an ensemble cast, including Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo. As the world stands poised on the brink of World War III, cybersecurity specialist Dr. Daniel Kellner steals from the Wardex Corporation, a secret arm of the U.S. government, a piece of extraterrestrial technology and related files, detailing various events of human–alien contact dating back to the Roswell incident. Wardex CEO Noah Scanlon discovers the theft and has Daniel branded a foreign spy, making him the target of federal authorities. Daniel goes into hiding at a convent with his girlfriend, Jane Blankenship. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

It's no secret that Steven Spielberg is fascinated with the cosmos. His latest aliens-are-among-us action thriller, “Disclosure Day,” follows a TV weatherperson (Emily Blunt) and an encryption specialist (Josh O'Connor) as they attempt to understand their connection to life beyond this planet. In doing so, they get entangled in a government cover-up. Ahead of the movie's release, Wesley Morris spent time with Spielberg and wrote a profile of him for The New York Times Magazine. The 79-year-old director's appetite for telling stories on the big screen is undiminished — he's preparing to make his first western — but Wesley writes that as Hollywood adapts to the streaming era, “the idea of a Steven Spielberg has felt endangered.” And so, there's only one person for Wesley to call when a new Spielberg drops: Eric Hynes, Wesley's pal and former co-worker from Kim's Video in New York City. They started their Spielberg conversation over 25 years ago as young cinephiles. On today's episode, it continues. Together, they consider the evolution of aliens in Spielberg's work, relive memorable onscreen sequences and think about the strength of the filmmaker's more-than-half-century canon. Almost 50 years ago, Steven Spielberg directed “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” the story of an average man who discovers that humanity may not be alone in the universe. Over the decades, Spielberg has directed several movies about what would happen if humanity made contact with aliens. Would the aliens be kind like the title character in “E.T. the Extra Terrestrial”? Would they be cruel like the murderous aliens of “War of the Worlds”? And regardless of what the aliens were like, would we humans be ready to receive them? Spielberg returns to the question of whether we're alone in the universe, and what it might mean if we're not, with his new film “Disclosure Day.” Today, he sits down with Rachel Abrams, a host of “The Daily,” to talk about the film, and about what he has learned over five decades of making movies about aliens. On Today's Episode Steven Spielberg, director of “Disclosure Day.” Background Reading ‘Disclosure Day' Review: Spielberg Plays His Greatest Cosmic Hits What Steven Spielberg Taught Me About Fear, Catharsis, and Being Human Photo credit: Paolo Pellegrin/Magnum, for The New York Times Subscribe today at nytimes.com/podcasts or on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
