We just got back from our first overnight trip together, and we're still smiling about it! In this episode, we're recapping our amazing night at Songs & Stories from Music City with Clare Bowen and Jonathan Jackson in Pottstown, PA.We kicked things off with dinner at Gatsby's Pub, then headed over to SoulJoel's Comedy Club for the show—and wow, what a night. The setting was intimate, the crowd was awesome, and the whole vibe was so personal and fun.Clare and Jonathan were incredible. They shared behind-the-scenes stories from Nashville, how the music came together, and sang some of our favorites like “If I Didn't Know Better,” “Forever,” and “Borrow My Heart.” One of our favorite parts was watching them fan over each other—their friendship really shines. It was also so sweet hearing them talk about their real-life love stories—Clare with her husband Brandon Young and Jonathan with his wife Lisa Vultaggio (yep, GH fans will remember her as Hannah Scott!). Clare was so warm and supportive, especially with all the GH fans in the audience—she totally embraced it.They even did a Q&A throughout the show, which made it feel like we were all just hanging out together. We seriously hope we get the chance to see them again—it was such a special night.

He has spent the past 25 years speaking to audiences in all 50 states, on over 1000 college and high school campuses, at hundreds of professional and academic conferences, and to community groups across the nation. He has also lectured internationally in Canada and Bermuda, and has trained corporate, government, law enforcement and medical industry professionals on methods for dismantling racism in their institutions. Wise's antiracism work traces back to his days as a college activist in the 1980s, fighting for divestment from (and economic sanctions against) apartheid South Africa. After graduation, he threw himself into social justice efforts full-time, as a Youth Coordinator and Associate Director of the Louisiana Coalition Against Racism and Nazism: the largest of the many groups organized in the early 1990s to defeat the political candidacies of white supremacist and former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke. From there, he became a community organizer in New Orleans' public housing, and a policy analyst for a children's advocacy group focused on combatting poverty and economic inequity. In this episode we're talking with Katie Holman about her two home births at The Farm (yes that The Farm...the one founded by Ina May Gaskin). Meet Katie. She lives outside of Nashville with her husband, Jimmy and her two sons Cash and Elon. Katie is our first DIAH mom to have a birth story from The Farm! If you're not familiar with The Farm, prepare to get acquainted. Founded in 1970 by a group of powerful and conscious people, looking to return the natural and sacred act of birth to the family, and have it in an environment that supported women and families. Ina May Gaskin, a juggernaut in the natural birth, home birth and midwifery world, was a founding member. Most anyone who explores natural or home birth has heard of Ina May Gaskin and has been influenced by her work and her writings. Back to Katie. Katie had watched The Business of Being Born documentary and read Ina May's Guide to Childbirth. The message of Ina May really resonated with Katie, and that lead her to the decision to have both of her children at The Farm. Katie and her husband drove 2 hours to get to The Farm for both births...and while she was in labor, by the way. What a woman! She talks about how having her boys in this home type of atmosphere changed her life. One of my favorite things Katie said, “Birth is not something that happens to you, it's something you get to experience.” So listen in on what it's like to have a birth at the world-famous Farm. There's also conversation around placenta planting and placenta encapsulation. Another fun fact about Katie that just has to be mentioned: her great-grandmother had 17 babies at home! Seems like mama power is in the genes! If you can make it as a professional musician in Austin, that is saying something. And if you can make it in Nashville, New Orleans, and also New York, that is saying something in all caps. Seth Walker has made it in all of the above locales. Making it as a professional musician in all of those iconic music scenes is not only impressive, but it also requires playing a variety of styles that sync with each city's musical tastes. With his 12th album, Why the Worry, Seth Walker shows off what he has learned (and unlearned) from all of those years gigging and recording with a who's who of roots music luminaries. In recent years, he has called western North Carolina home, which is not terribly far from his childhood home in a Quaker commune, a couple hundred miles to the east in Burlington. That is where his music journey began, and is the place which serves as the backdrop to his forthcoming novella, about a young girl on a tobacco farm. I imagine Seth Walker may even make some paintings to go along with that story, as he is also an accomplished visual artist. Seth is as laid back as he is intriguing, and we enjoyed a relaxed conversation at his home in Fairview, NC, nestled in the Appalachian mountains. Joining us was WNCW intern Elena Dickson, who hosted our recent episode on fellow western NC artist Sally Anne Morgan. We spoke about Seth's musical past and present, ranging from his love of jump blues to how an inspired take of Al Green's “Take Me to the River” set the wheels in motion for his latest album, to how Hurricane Helene very nearly left it in a ditch. All that and more, including music from Why the Worry, awaits you in this podcast. Seth Walker Songs heard in this episode:“Why the Worry” by Seth Walker, from Why the Worry “Magnolia” by Seth Walker, from Why the Worry, excerpt“Take Me to the River” by Seth Walker, from Why the Worry, excerpt“Strollin' With Bones” by T-Bone Walker, excerpt“Up on the Mountain” by Seth Walker, from Why the WorryThank you for dropping by! Thanks to Jaclyn Anthony for producing the radio adaptations of this series on WNCW, where we worked with Joshua Meng, who wrote and performed our theme songs. Donald Ray Middlebrooks is a convicted murderer from Tennessee who was sentenced to death for the 1987 racially motivated killing of 14-year-old Kerrick Majors, a Black teenager. Along with two other white men, Middlebrooks participated in the brutal torture and murder of Majors, who was beaten, stabbed multiple times, and burned with cigarettes in a wooded area in Nashville. The crime was widely recognized as a hate crime, marked by extreme violence and racial hatred. Middlebrooks was identified as the ringleader and was convicted in 1988; his death sentence was upheld despite decades of legal appeals and debates over the fairness of his trial and sentencing. His case drew national attention as a symbol of racially motivated violence and the ongoing struggle for justice in such cases.https://linktr.ee/UnforbiddentruthJoin me on Tik Tok live every Tuesday & Thursday for live interviews. @unforbiddentruthpodcast Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unforbidden-truth--4724561/support.

Every summer has a soundtrack. There's a big hit or there's an album that gets worn out on the beach or on the road that becomes the soundtrack of the summer. Nothing says summer quite like a summer playlist. It sets the tone for all the sights and sounds of summer days and summer nights. This summer, we're going to look at the most famous playlist ever assembled, the book of Psalms. You might think of Psalms as just another book in the Bible, but to the people of ancient Israel, this was their go to playlist, their songbook, their favorite album for every season.

Josh Hussung preaches from Philippians 2. In Philippians 2, Paul emphasizes the importance of unity among believers. He teaches that true unity comes when the church adopts the mindset of Jesus—one of humility and selfless service, ultimately seen in His death on the cross. When local congregations reflect this same attitude by humbly serving one another, their unity brings glory to God and becomes a powerful witness to the transforming power of the Gospel. Grace Community Church exists to build spiritually healthy people for ministry in the world. One of the ways that we pursue this mission is by gathering each Sunday for corporate worship, prayer, and biblical teaching. The corporate nature of this gathering is both edifying to the believer and a witness of God's grace to the world. Sermon speaker is Scott Patty unless otherwise noted.
