The crew breaks down Nashville SC's gritty win over Toronto FC and debates if Sam Surridge is earning his goals or just a "penalty merchant." Then, they dive into the team's chances of lifting a trophy this year, fueled by the league's most lethal duo.On this episode, the Mixtape 615 crew breaks down Nashville SC's latest victory, a hard-fought, "ugly win" against Toronto FC. The boys discuss how Nashville extended its impressive home unbeaten streak, setting a new club record in the process. While the team is sitting near the top of the standings and in the hunt for the Supporters' Shield, the match wasn't without its nervy moments, including a penalty scare that was overturned by VAR.A major debate centers around striker Sam Surridge, who the MLS discord has nicknamed the "penalty merchant". The hosts argue whether this is a fair criticism or just salt from rival fans, pointing out that being automatic from the spot is a massive asset. The conversation also turns to other key players in rotation, analyzing the critical passing of Patrick Yazbek , the discipline issues facing Perez , and the frustrating inconsistency of a promising forward who has looked "lost at times" on the pitch. Looking ahead, the crew discusses Nashville's real chances of winning silverware this season, fueled by momentum, incredible team depth, and the most lethal attacking duo in MLS: Hany Mukhtar and Sam Surridge

When I was a teenager, I used to earn extra money mowing lawns. And we didn't have a gas-powered mower. I had one of those old push mowers. But I didn't mind. A few extra bucks in my pocket gave me a little freedom. I don't get the sense that teens these days ever think about mowing lawns. It's now a business. I encounter more professional trucks rolling through neighborhoods, even on my daily commute to work. They all have big trailers, a couple of lawnmowers, and more string trimmers than they have at Home Depot. Is this happening only in Nashville, or is it widespread across America? No doubt, times have changed... In 2000, Luna Halo was fronted by former Reality Check front man Nathan Barlowe and released their debut CD Shimmer on Christian music label Sparrow Records. Even though Shimmer was praised by critics, Luna Halo left Sparrow Records and the Christian music industry before recording their next album due to creative differences.Barlowe replaced guitarist MacIntosh with his younger brother Cary Barlowe, Aaron Jenkins replaced bassist Brad Minor, and drummer Chris Coleman replaced Jonathan Smith, completing the lineup for the new Luna Halo.Rumors of an imminent major label deal began to surface in 2004, and a deal with DreamWorks,[2] was announced prematurely, but later proved to be untrue, after negotiations broke down. The band released another EP, Wasting Away (originally recorded as a demo for DreamWorks) and opened shows for artists Velvet Revolver, Hoobastank, Collective Soul, Ours, Needtobreathe and Family Force 5.In 2005, Luna Halo were signed to American Recordings and began work on their second album, Luna Halo. Originally scheduled for a Summer 2006 release, the album was plagued with delays. This was due to American Recordings owner Rick Rubin's departure from Warner Bros to Columbia Records. The album was finally released in late 2007.On November 13, 2012, lead singer Nathan Barlowe announced that Luna Halo would be playing their final show on December 8, 2012, at 12th and Porter in Nashville, TN. This show would mark not only the band's final show, but also their twelve-year anniversary celebration.Their song 'I'm Alright' from their 2007 album was also featured inside Flatout: Ultimate Carnage as a part of the soundtrack. After a seven-year hiatus, on February 11, 2022 Luna Halo performed a sold out show at the Mercury lounge in Nashville, Tennessee. They announced during their show that they only had two days to prepare for this concert.Luna Halo signed a multi-album deal with Spirit Music Nashville/Fluid Music Revolution in June 2024 and is currently working on new material to be released in the Fall of 2024.https://www.instagram.com/lunahalomusic/"Still on the Run" - https://www.fbrmusic.com/Host - Trey MitchellIG - treymitchellphotography IG - feeding_the_senses_unsensoredFB - facebook.com/profile.php?id=100074368084848Threads - www.threads.net/@treymitchellphotographySponsorship Information/Guest Suggestions  -  ftsunashville@gmail.com

Greylan James rolled into Nashville broke, living in a rundown East Nashville house surviving on tomato soup and a dream. Before the hits, he was writing nonstop, and once house-sat for a hit songwriter — then threw a 200-person party without asking. The songwriter’s response? “Hope you have a great time — just let everyone know it’s my house.” Legend. Greylan went on to co-write “Happy Does,” Kenny Chesney’s #1 hit, then penned the Song of the Year, “Next Thing You Know,” for Jordan Davis. Now he’s stepping into the spotlight with “Water at a Wedding,” a nail bitter that has fans on the edge of their seat asking: Is he the baby daddy? No answers yet — but we’re all desperately waiting to know the truth. From broke to blazing, Greylan’s just getting started.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Elevating Songwriters in Music City… In the heart of Music City, a groundbreaking network of nearly 400 songwriters, known as Livin' The Write Life, is redefining collaboration and success in the music industry. Founded by songwriter Michael "Cef" Cefaratti, this vibrant "tribe" is dedicated to empowering its members and disrupting the traditional music publishing model. A Network Built on Mutual Support and Strength in Numbers Livin' The Write Life operates on the core belief that "your net worth is your network." Songwriter Cody Kelley emphasizes this ethos, stating, "We show up for each other, to prove there's strength in numbers." This collaborative spirit is evident in their consistent support for each other's performances, from showcases and writer's nights to "in-the-rounds." The network leverages the diverse skills and backgrounds of its members to benefit everyone, whether it's bargaining for studio time or securing airplay. Addressing Industry Challenges and Fostering New Talent Cefaratti highlights a critical issue in today's music landscape: the domination of a few major publishing houses. "It's near impossible for an unsigned writer to get a listen – much less a cut, today," he explains, "meaning the industry, not the artist, decides what music you hear." Livin' The Write Life aims to counteract this by building a comprehensive in-house service complement for its members, including publishing, song pitching/placement, a record label, and career management for aspiring artists. The network is uniquely structured around the needs of working songwriters, many of whom balance regular jobs with their passion. This flexibility ensures that "everybody has a chance to be heard and to write with other songwriters in our tribe." They celebrate successes, offer support during challenges, and transform these experiences into relatable, authentic songs. Cultivating Tomorrow's Sound Livin' The Write Life is focused on shaping the future of music. Kelley points out that "the songs on the radio right now were written at least 2 years ago... That songwriting style may not be popular 2 years from now." The tribe encourages its writers to break free from formulas and rules, allowing songs to evolve naturally. This forward-thinking approach is leading to the creation of "genre-less" music that transcends traditional boundaries of country, pop, and rock, preparing for an anticipated shift in the industry. Adysen Malek, a new songwriter in Music City, quickly found her place within Livin' The Write Life. She credits the tribe with helping her improve her craft in a supportive, non-competitive environment, stating, "None of us improves or succeeds, we all benefit and celebrate." Connect with Livin' The Write Life To discover upcoming writer showcases and connect with this innovative network of songwriters, visit the Livin' The Write Life Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/livi... /> Artists and producers interested in collaborating can also schedule private listening appointments directly through their Instagram page. ABOUT LIVIN' THE WRITE LIFE: Nashville's New Model for Songwriting & Publishing Livin' The Write Life is emerging as a groundbreaking force in Nashville's music scene, redefining the landscape for independent songwriters and performers. This innovative network, founded by songwriter and entrepreneur Michael "Cef" Cefaratti, comprises nearly 400 affiliated individuals who collectively form a powerful "tribe." Empowering Independent Songwriters through Community and Opportunity At its core, Livin' The Write Life operates on an "everyone's welcome at the table" philosophy, providing crucial opportunities for aspiring songwriters. Through its limited Open Mic events, the organization offers a platform for new voices to be heard. The most promising talents are invited to join the exclusive "tribe," gaining access to high-profile exposure at renowned Writer's Nights and Showcases throughout Nashville. A Collective Approach to Success in Music City Livin' The Write Life is more than just a network; it's a supportive community where collaboration fuels collective success. By bringing together a large and diverse group of independent creatives, the organization aims to empower its members in an industry often dominated by major labels. This collective strength provides avenues for song pitching, publishing, and career development that might otherwise be out of reach for individual songwriters. Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Daniel Liu, who recently was honored with the Youth Volunteer Award at the 2025 Strobel Volunteer Awards hosted by Hands On Nashville powered by United Way of Greater Nashville. Daniel Liu, a pre-med student at Vanderbilt, founded the Peace of Mind program to address the shortage of volunteers for home hospice care in Nashville. He recognized that while many students wanted to volunteer, transportation was a significant barrier, particularly for reaching the 90% of cases requiring in-home visits. Drawing inspiration from his middle school experience with free bus rides to nursing homes, Daniel developed a solution by coordinating free transportation for Vanderbilt students to volunteer in home hospice care, providing them with valuable patient experience while meeting a critical community need.Volunteer Uber Voucher PipelineDaniel created a simple pipeline that allows volunteers to apply for Uber vouchers to visit patient sites, considering factors like distance, time, and cost. Since its inception, 35 classmates have been trained to administer Hospice care, volunteering at patient homes and contributing to over 600 hours of service across nearly 200 patient cases. Daniel has personally volunteered for about 350 hours over two years, visiting around 20 patients, and finds the Uber voucher program to be one of the most impactful ways he has contributed to his community.Volunteering Shapes Leadership JourneyDaniel reflects on how his volunteer experience has shaped him as a leader, emphasizing that it taught him the importance of taking the first step in community involvement. He explains that he now understands the process of initiating change, from writing grants to securing funding, which gives him confidence in future endeavors. Daniel also describes the unique nature of hospice volunteering, highlighting that each patient interaction is different and tailored to individual needs, ranging from playing piano to discussing art.Vanderbilt Peace of Mind InitiativesDaniel discusses his work with Vanderbilt Peace of Mind, which involves meeting people, understanding their experiences, and conducting educational training sessions with experts in hospice care. He expresses his vision to lead interventions in communities and emphasized the importance of finding partners, communicating effectively, and identifying community needs to create impactful solutions. Daniel was recognized as the Youth Volunteer Award winner at the 2025 Strobel Volunteer Awards, which he considers a significant honor. He encourages others, especially college students, to take leadership roles and create movements for community betterment. On episode 297 of The AwardsWatch Podcast, Executive Editor Ryan McQuade is joined by Editor-In-Chief Erik Anderson, AwardsWatch Associate Editor Sophia Ciminello and AwardsWatch contributors Dan Bayer, Josh Parham, and Jay Ledbetter to go back 50 years and take a look at the 48th Academy Awards, covering the films of 1975. On this retrospective, the AW team take a look back at what might've been the greatest Best Picture lineup of all time, featuring the films One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Barry Lyndon, Nashville, Dog Day Afternoon, and Jaws. This group of five films collectively encapsulate the type of films audiences clamored for fifty years ago and are all considered all-time classic in their own right, some being the best film within their respected director's filmography. But the interesting exercise with this line-up is looking at the lackluster films surrounding these masterful films. But this is the fun part of the process of looking back and talking about a year like this, if it is a landmark year like others in the 1970s or if it just top heavy. In their in-depth discussion, the AW team talked about the film year of 1975, briefly discuss talk about One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest as a Best Picture winner, do an extensive conversation over the below the line categories and nominees for the year, and then the new version of the AW Shoulda Woulda Coulda game, where instead of individual replacements, they must decide as a group who the nominees and winners should be in the top eight categories. The rules of the game state they can only replace two of the nominees that year from each category, except in Best Picture, where the group could replace up to three films to make up the final set of five nominated films. Like past retrospective episodes, it was a fascinating, fun conversation including spirited debates, alliances, vote swinging, celebrating various movies, performances that aren't normally talked about and more that we all hope you enjoy. You can listen to The AwardsWatch Podcast wherever you stream podcasts, from iTunes, iHeartRadio, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Spotify, Audible, Amazon Music and more. This podcast runs 2h40m. Ben Chally preaches from Philippians 3. Paul encourages the Philippians to rejoice in the Lord, warning them against false teachers who promote legalism and pride as paths to righteousness. He reminds the church that true safety and joy are found not in external works or personal performance but in knowing and being found in Christ. Paul then urges believers to press on in faith, striving toward the ultimate prize of a life lived in Christ. Grace Community Church exists to build spiritually healthy people for ministry in the world. One of the ways that we pursue this mission is by gathering each Sunday for corporate worship, prayer, and biblical teaching. The corporate nature of this gathering is both edifying to the believer and a witness of God's grace to the world. Sermon speaker is Scott Patty unless otherwise noted.
