In this week's episode Laura and Todd welcome back Joelle Maletis, PTSD & Trauma Expert, LMFT, TED-Ed Video Author, Speaker, CEO and Coach to talk about Burnout. Joelle is focused on helping others to create a meaningful and balanced life. We can all relate to feeling stressed out from time to time, but what's the difference between just feeling stressed and true “burnout?” In this episode we take a deep dive in to the signs of burnout, the difference between good and “prolonged” bad stress, and the physical symptoms and effects of burnout. Joelle emphasizes the importance of giving ourselves time to rest, something easier said than done, but as she warns, if we don't address the issue it could turn into something much more sinister like heart problems, an anxiety disorder or fibromyalgia. We also discuss the different forms of burnout such as toxic friendships, caretaking and compassion fatigue, and parenting burnout, the difference between guilt and shame and how and when you know it's time to “let go.” Ultimately, Joelle teaches us some ways to prevent burnout before it happens and again, gives us all the reasons why it's OK TO TAKE A BREAK! So, join us in Episode 36 and learn how you can prevent and treat burnout!Joelle's WebsiteSelf-Love CalendarJoelle on InstagramJoelle's Ted-Ex Video on Post Traumatic Stress DisorderJoelle's Tik TokJoelle's Linkedin Hosted on Acast. We do this with the belief that Aboriginal culture has the power to provide significant healing to the world. Special care has been taken to ensure that the Old People would consider the knowledge we share appropriate to be shared with the general public. Gigi is an amazing person with a heart of God. She is all about giving and helping others to be more successful. Despite some difficulties in the past, she is very successful and living her dreams every day -- all thanks to her "never give up" attitude. She is well versed in law, social psychology, finance, and life coaching. Her book Walk With Me (https://amzn.to/2HTMhKB) has many valuable lessons that she had learned from her personal life experiences, such as sexual assaults when she was young and even as a professional. As Afterburner's CEO, Thor leads our team of more than 70 elite military professionals. He has helped achieve strategic objectives and foster elite teams for Fortune 100 companies within the tech industry, pharmaceuticals, finance, medical devices, retail apparel and several NFL teams.

Melba Duncan has trained assistants since before I was an EA, so I am very grateful for the opportunity to interview her on the show. One of the most life-changing articles I've ever read was Melba's piece in a 2011 issue of Harvard Business Review called, The Case for Executive Assistants – which is still shared far and wide by EAs all over the world. In fact, the day I interviewed Melba, she was featured in this Forbes article. As I went back and edited this episode, I was blown away at how much wisdom Melba had to share during our brief conversation. We cover a variety of topics including how to be innovative as an assistant, why assistants are crucial to an executive's success, how executives can get more out of their assistants, what makes an assistant a leader, how to stay healthy and rest in the midst of a demanding role, tips for recruiting assistants, and much more.Show notes - leaderassistant.com/22Subscribe - podcast.leaderassistant.comJoin the community at slack.leaderassistant.com or facebook.leaderassistant.com
