Introduction: In this episode of Design Your Destiny, Penny explores the challenges and concerns that arise when scaling a business to seven figures. Drawing from her own experience and work with high achievers, she shares valuable insights on overcoming burnout, imposter syndrome, and subconscious issues that hinder growth. Key Takeaways: Scaling a business to seven figures can lead to burnout and overwhelm. Subconscious issues, such as limiting beliefs around money, can hold back entrepreneurs from reaching their full potential. Penny emphasizes the importance of addressing mindset and subconscious patterns for sustainable growth. Fear of failure and fear of success can hinder progress and require mindset work to overcome. Imposter syndrome, comparing oneself to others, and fear of judgment can sabotage confidence and momentum. Building a supportive network and community of like-minded individuals is crucial for mindset reinforcement and collaboration. Penny introduces her Thrive Mastermind, a group coaching program that focuses on mindset, clarity, and scaling strategies. The mastermind offers hot seat-style coaching, subconscious coaching, expert guest sessions, and in-person retreats. By prioritizing personal satisfaction and avoiding the "chasing the goal" mentality, entrepreneurs can achieve long-term success and fulfillment. Penny's Thrive to Seven Figures Workshop provides a taste of her coaching approach and is a great starting point for entrepreneurs interested in joining the mastermind. If you're an entrepreneur seeking sustainable growth, overcoming mindset challenges, and building a thriving business, this episode of Design Your Destiny offers valuable insights and solutions. Welcome to this episode of the podcast! In this episode, we discuss the topic of Stop Chasing Goals and how it can benefit entrepreneurs in their pursuit of success. Here are the key takeaways from this episode: Stop Chasing Goals: Instead of focusing solely on achieving specific goals, shift your attention towards building habits and systems that will support your growth and success in the long-term. The Power of Habits: By developing positive habits, you can create a foundation for success and make progress towards your goals on a consistent basis. Habits help you to stay on track and maintain momentum, even when you face challenges or setbacks. The Thrive Mastermind: For entrepreneurs who are looking for a supportive community and one-on-one coaching, the Thrive Mastermind is a great option. This program offers collaborative support and resources for entrepreneurs who are committed to long-term success. Customized Support: One of the benefits of the Thrive Mastermind is that it offers customized support to help entrepreneurs achieve their specific goals. Through personalized coaching and resources, members of the program can get the support they need to succeed. Focus on the Journey: Instead of obsessing over the end result, focus on enjoying the journey and the process of building a successful business. This will help you to stay motivated and engaged, even when you face challenges along the way. Community Support: Building a supportive community is key to success as an entrepreneur. Surround yourself with people who share your values and are committed to supporting you on your journey. Consistency is Key: Building habits and systems requires consistency and commitment. By staying focused and committed to your goals, you can make progress towards success on a regular basis. The Benefits of Accountability: By having someone hold you accountable for your actions and progress, you can stay on track and maintain momentum towards your goals. Accountability helps you to stay motivated and focused, even when you face obstacles. A Collaborative Approach: By working together with others, you can achieve more than you could on your own. Collaboration allows you to leverage the strengths of others and build a stronger, more resilient business. Celebrate Your Wins: Take time to celebrate your successes and acknowledge the progress you've made. Celebrating your wins will help you to stay motivated and engaged in your pursuit of success. Waiting, in this case, is limiting yourself.  For example, when business owners feel stagnant with their business, they go look for business coaches.  However, some business owners may put this off thinking they need to work a lot first before deserving support. It's normal for humans to believe that situations will be more perfect later because we believe the situation will change.  You create your current and future conditions. [09:10] Waiting is Not the Answer For example, if you want to fit meditation into your busy schedule, you should not wait for later. If you're not prioritizing your mental health now, what makes you think you're going to pay attention to it in the future?  You need to reschedule and re-prioritize. [11:17] Start Noticing Your Limiting Belief Waiting for the perfect condition, at its core, is usually to save face or because you think you're undeserving of support.  When you have people who know about your goal and hold you accountable, you are 95% more likely to reach your goals. Jamie: “Once you have somebody in your corner who knows about your goal and you have an appointment with… you are 95% more likely to reach that goal. 95%. So thinking about these later conditions — wanting to be ready, what I look like… if you are putting off steps to get there, you're putting off the support that might be needed until later. Take it as a red flag.” If you notice you're putting off things, see it as a red flag. Reflect on where this behavior is coming from and assess what's really important. [13:37] Be Free from Waiting for the Perfect Condition You are limiting yourself if you continue to think that you're not ready for something you want. Circumstances in life are not barriers — you are your own barriers.  Perfect conditions won't happen if you simply wait. You have the power to create conditions for growth.  When creating growth, reflect on the support you may need. This can be routines, people, or other things.  Don't hand over power to your self-limiting beliefs. Jamie: “Thinking you're not ready for something that you want or desire is actually you setting that self-imposed limit on yourself. You are that barrier. The circumstances in your life are not barriers. (…) Waiting until conditions are perfect is not going to happen… You create the conditions for your own growth.” [15:32] Jamie's Experience with Waiting  Jamie loves traveling and meeting people. When she started her entrepreneurial journey, she thought she needed to hit a certain revenue before taking time off.  She dreamed of going to Amalfi Coast someday, but believed it would be during her retirement. On her 27th birthday, her fiance took her to Amalfi Coast. Jamie realized she could afford to take time off. After the trip, Jamie realized she didn't need to wait for what she wanted and changed how she ran her business. [21:48] How to Achieve Big Goals When faced with a big goal, chop it up into smaller pieces and work on those pieces every day. The more you don't wait to pursue what you want, the more you'll be able to reach your desires.  [24:31] Four Steps to Overcome Waiting  The next time you think you're not ready, reflect on what “ready” means. Assess whether this is realistic. This can also help identify activation steps you need to take.  Next, reflect on what it would feel like if you said yes to your desires now. Your feelings will tell you whether you're making the right decisions. Similarly, reflect on what it would feel like to say no.   Jamie: “If you aren't saying yes to your desires, you are saying no to the vision that you want for your life… When you take an assessment [on] what would it feel like to say no, you might be realizing you're not pursuing the life you want [and] you want more fulfillment… [On the] flip side, if saying no would allow you to feel relaxed [and] more in tune, empowered… then saying no is correct. Lean into the feelings.”  Finally, reflect on how a decision or investment can change you in the next 1-3 months. [31:43] Don't Wait  If you have something you want to do, don't wait until later.  Don't expect conditions to be perfect because we aren't perfect.  Change your outlook and just jump in! Rebellious growth and taking radical steps mean being able to do something out of the ordinary. Feeling stuck is the number one thing that comes up for people who want to feel better in what they're doing. You're in the right place when you start to recognize the same excuses preventing you from going after your big vision. Your breaking points will make you realize that you have not been nurturing your best self. Instead, you've been walling them in, locking them down. [07:56] Bold, Brilliant, Rebellious Feeling like a powerhouse and being resilient in your business means having a solid belief in yourself. How you want to do things is the right way to do it. [08:34] Uncovering Your Inner Rebel Think about the version of yourself that you want to be that you've always had in your mind — your best self. What would it be like to be the boldest version of yourself? What three words would define them? Jamie calls her inner rebel her magnificent self. She is bold, curious, and resilient. You can call it that also, or something else: your best self, your bold self. Your inner rebel is a piece of you.  [11:14] Your Internal Board of Directors We have an internal board of directors that influences our day-to-day.  The CEO is your inner critic.  You can name them. It's helpful to know who's talking within the different voices within you that keep you in your comfort zone. Your inner critic wants to keep you safe, resulting in unproductivity. Tell her to move over and share the table with the bold version of yourself. Allow both your inner critic and bold self to talk to you when you're making leaps for growth in your business. [13:55] Embracing Small Acts of Radical Rebellion It's about releasing what we're supposed to do, who we're supposed to be, and becoming who we were always meant to be. Approach the version of yourself that you never question. Releasing her limits has made Jamie feel unrestrained in how she shows up to her community and her clients. Doing small acts of radical rebellion means going against “what you're supposed to do”— the things that are not true to who you are. [16:13] Taking the First Steps Toward Radical Rebellion Define what a radical act means for yourself. Radical acts are different for different people. Jamie's first act of rebellion resulted in a meltdown. It was tuning her nervous system for what was to come. The first steps will feel radical to you. Don't compare yourself to others; only compare yourself to your own previous versions. Jamie: “Every person has a radical act that they do the first time, then they can decide, ‘You know what, I didn't die. I'm okay. Actually, I feel more powerful because I did that. So I'm going to take the next step.'” Your big vision dream would feel more attainable once you create small acts of rebellion against your limits. Prove it to yourself. Create evidence to release self-doubt and build confidence. [20:10] Approaching the Most Rebellious Version of Yourself Lean into the bold and brilliant version of yourself that you put on the board. Each step of the way will feel radical. For perfectionists, a small act of rebellion is being able to make a mistake and owning it. We are all programs of what we've learned most of our life. Uploading the bold and rebellious version of you into that will require taking small radical acts. [21:58] Taking Quantum Leaps Quantum leaps are enormous jumps in growth. But people who make quantum leaps also make small leaps in between.  These small acts of rebellion give you evidence of your worth and let you make bold moves one after another. [23:44] A Limit Jamie is Still Working Through Jamie is still working through how she feels about the size of her body. A part of her small act of rebellion is being able to see herself in any size and loving it. She went to a cycling class with her friend, where the room was warm. As such, everybody had taken their tank tops off. The thought of receiving judgment for taking her shirt off became a struggle for Jamie at that moment. But, she overcame it and felt free and more comfortable in doing so. She wants to listen to what her body wants her to do and be selfish about it. [28:48] What it Means to be a Rebel Being a rebel is being more of who you are. It's about taking care of yourself first. The more “you” you can be, the more you can create authentic connections.  It will only be possible when you stop playing small and start being bolder and more expansive. Believing in yourself doesn't mean ridding all doubts and negativity. But the goal is for your desires to outweigh your fears. Jamie: “When it comes down to when someone asks me how they can grow their business, what it means to have resilient growth in their business—it is having radical self-trust.” Your business should evolve with you. It's about being more of you to make connections and having the courage to change things up in your offers as you see fit.  [33:04] Identifying Your Limiting Beliefs What is limiting you? What's one radical act you can take to prove against wanting to show up perfectly? Jamie: "The more rebellious we become against our limits, the more we model our world to be more for us."  The more you embrace the bold version of yourself, the more you'll realize and stand in your leadership. Enjoyed this Podcast on Taking Your First Steps Towards Radical Rebellion?  Today is the day that you will become rebellious and embrace a brilliant, bold, and rebellious you: your best self, the one you dream of being. Meanwhile, she was also hard at work on her coaching business. With today's technology, starting a business is easier than ever before. If you have the drive, you can make incredible things happen. Ashley: “If you believe in yourself, you have a voice, you have a perspective in this world, and you are not willing to settle for anything less than you want — you can really make it happen.” [13:59] Being Bold and Owning Your Voice on Social Media  Social media is a gift. With it, not only can we set up a business easier than ever before, but we can also make them more meaningful.  Take a bold stance on social media. If you don't feel comfortable with the idea of people showing highlight reels all the time, then don't do it yourself.  Set a standard for your own life. It's easier to blame social media for its flaws, but we need to take radical responsibility.  [17:54] Pushing Past Your Limits and Becoming Bold Ashley shares that being bold often boils down to how willing you are to tell the truth.  People are often burdened with shame for the things they want to share. Emotional alchemy is Ashley's way of helping people through this shame.  Think about what you want to share, why you feel shame around it, and how you can take back your personal power.  [20:38] Normalize Honesty and Reality When we normalize honesty, we help and give permission to others to do the same.  There's no need to feel shame about anything. Let your unique traits empower you and move forward.  Ashley strives to be authentic when sharing her story. She wants to be the same whether in person or online.  Jamie: “The more we try to create a facade — this person who's always handling her stuff, never had a bad month, and handles it all without problems, the more we're going to feel this proving energy, this proving that we aren't who we're representing.”  [24:34] How to Start Sharing  There's no need to share anything before you're ready. Don't put yourself through unnecessary trauma.  We tend to feel shame around personal challenges, but when we share our vulnerabilities, we can better connect and relate to people.  Accept that not everyone will understand you. It's not your job to explain or prove anything to them.  [31:25] How to Keep Evolving Evolution needs to start somewhere. We are constantly crumbling and rebuilding.  The braver you are, the better it gets. Stop making yourself small, and fully own who you are.  If you find yourself struggling, ask yourself: What's one small act of rebelliousness you can take?  Ashley: “I had to break the floodgates after the breakup and be ‘look, guys, I'm struggling' because it needed to propel me forward. It was the catalyst to own my story. You need to crumble, let it crumble, and then rebuild.”  [39:26] How Ashley Can Help You Evolve Ashley recently created a program to help women evolve and stand out.  Since your branding is tied to your voice, you need to know what this voice is. It does not need to be perfectly curated, especially if that's not who you are.  [46:44] What Limitless Means to Ashley For Ashley, limitless means there's so much possibility in life. There's no end or limit to growth.  Limitless women will always evolve and seek that next level of opportunity.  About Ashley Ashley Linanne is a branding and marketing mentor empowering women to show up as their full, authentic selves online. It's about living life to the fullest and finding meaning and purpose.  Business growth is different for every entrepreneur. It can be about revenue growth, audience growth, sales growth, etc.  You can't have business growth without personal growth - figure out what's holding you back.  [06:53] Growth Stunt No.1: Time People usually don't realize how they're spending their time.  Listen to the full episode to hear Jamie's story about how emails were limiting growth for one of her clients. Our time is a metric of success and growth.  Jamie: “If you feel blocked, if you feel stuck in whatever growth that you're looking for, it's a good and important moment to take a look at how you're spending your time.” [08:15] Effective Time Management Define your money-making tasks, or MMT, in your own words.  MMTs help move the needle, leading to earnings or even to the best version of yourself.  Jamie's MMTs include making sure her clients are happy and expressing her creativity. These not only help her earn money but also energize her.  After assessing herself, Jamie realized that instead of meeting people and exercising, she was limiting growth by spending too much time on TikTok.  Remember, you can create time by scheduling and prioritizing things. You also control how intentional you are when tackling tasks.   [12:32] Growth Stunt No.2: Environment  The environment includes where you work, your city, and your relationships.  Look at your relationships and determine if they inspire you to be the best version of yourself.  It's essential to find a community of like-minded people to know you are not alone.  Keep in mind that you are the product of the five people you spend your time with.  [14:40] Creating a Better Environment  Consider how many people you've met or reached out to this month.   If you're not part of a community, join one! Jamie recommends the Sprinter community and the Sixth Degree Society.  A good environment is when the people are as invested in your success as you are.  Jamie: “Motivation can absolutely fall off, but the energy of a room—of people who are invested in you, that [motivation] gets to be renewed every single day.” [16:13] Growth Stunt No.3: Playing Small  Playing small means doing what everyone else is doing, like blindly following gurus and their advice. Creating rebellious growth means owning your voice, style, and approach. People often want to be someone else. Remember, you are unique, and trying to be someone else can hinder your growth.  Jamie: “Your voice, your movement, your impact is unique. The way in which you approach life, the way in which you've decided to build a business, what inspires you to continue to build that business every day is like nobody else's. You are fucking bold because you are an entrepreneur, and you're pursuing your purpose through your business every day.” [18:05] Owning Your Voice  Knowing and owning your voice includes knowing your social media style.  It's easy to follow trends and jump on bandwagons. However, you need to figure out your way of sharing stories.  The more you can be yourself, the more likely you'll attract people and communities who love you.   Think about how you can own your voice today. It can be a small act. [21:50] Growth Stunt No.4: Playing Victim to the Algorithm If you believe that social media or specific platforms are unnecessary, you are playing the victim. It's now so easy to find people who need your help, build a community, and share your experiences.  The algorithms are 75% based on your behavior. If you're blaming the algorithm, you're blaming your behavior.  Social media platforms are consistently growing and changing. You should never apologize for making changes and optimizations with your business.    [24:10] Adapting to Changing Environments  You need to ask yourself whether you're growing as the internet and business environment grow.  We all adapt in different ways. If you don't like certain things, share your truth and unfollow people you don't enjoy.  Identify what you can do to adjust to the change around you. Jamie shares a few ideas in the full episode, so tune in!  Since we have little to no control over our environments, adapting will make growth more manageable. [27:54] Growth Stunt No.5: Vision Vision is knowing where you want to go. If you don't have one, you are stunting your growth.  Understanding your vision will help you know how to show up every day to get you where you want to be. [28:36] Visualizing Your Ideal Future If you want to know your vision, start with visualization.  It can be as simple as picturing the average ideal Monday.  Listen to the full episode for Jamie's guide on this process! Visualization should include minor details. You need the know-how to reach your goals. You are in the making of your limitless self. Learn to match your potential energy to your current one. [34:02] Creating Rebellious Growth in Summary Know that time comes from you, and you can prioritize tasks that will move the needle for you.  Make sure you're in an inspiring environment that helps you grow and reach your biggest desires.  The social media landscape is for bold people who own their voices.  Adapt to the changing environment and society.  Get to know your limitless self and have a clear vision.   Enjoyed this Podcast on The 5 Growth Stunters Stopping You From Rebellious Growth?  Everyone gets stuck at some point. Trying to find meaning in the face of grief is not easy. How often have you heard that you should focus on the positive? That kind of reaction is too common, and it can be unhealthy. It's normal — and human — to grieve. In this episode of The Limitless Podcast, grief coach Emily Bingham walks us through her grief journey and how it inspired her to build her thriving business, moveTHRU Grief. Resilience isn't ignoring pain and powering through it; it's learning to acknowledge and accept what life gives — even the negatives. Emily's company, moveTHRU Grief, began as a group meeting in her spin studio. She created a safe space for her clients to feel their emotions without judgment. moveTHRU helps people acknowledge and deal with their grief by finding their identity and purpose. Once you find yourself again, you can go on to live your life to the fullest — even after tragedy. [09:00] Stepping Up Into Business It all began with Emily sharing her family's grief journey through a GoFundMe page. Without realizing it, she was already meaning-making by telling her stories online. Emily found that sharing her experience was therapeutic and positively impacted other people. Sharing her life provided a new meaning to what she was doing. A heart-centered business is about sharing the wisdom and knowledge you have to speed others on their way, but it takes a lot of vulnerability. [12:53] Are All Grief Stories Supposed To Be Worthwhile?  Not every share on your socials needs a profound takeaway. Think of your social media presence as an online diary connecting you to people. Emily connected with other young widows, a connection she didn't have before. Sharing her grief story was a mutually beneficial experience. Death and grief are complex topics to tackle. However, you don't need to judge or compare yourself to others; everyone's grief is valid. Emily: “My authentic experience of grief is just as valid as theirs. It's just that it's different. And, that's been a huge growth edge for me, in terms of learning to trust myself and not need that external validation, or permission to show up as I am.”   Emily is still balancing showing up as a marketer and a widow online.  There will be people online who will still support you even if your content evolves. You can still pursue what energizes you and not get pigeonholed by your niche. [20:27] Grief Teaches Us Emotional Mastery Love is beneath the pain. Allow yourself to feel the negative emotions and excavate them so that you get to the love. It takes time, but learn to trust your feelings. Ignoring your feelings won't make them disappear; it might intensify them instead. Be curious about your emotions and ask yourself, "Why am I feeling this way?"  It isn't about always being happy or being done with grief after some time. Don't let your mind make up stories about your feelings; trust your intuition. [25:29] Resilient Mindset in the Face of Grief or Overwhelm Businesses don't run perfectly. A resilient mindset helps us handle low points and bounce back to better times. You develop a "grief muscle" as you face grief. This muscle builds into a resilient mindset that you can use elsewhere, even in entrepreneurship. You can grieve for someone alive, like when going through a breakup. You can also grieve for painful events like losing your job or living through a pandemic. Jamie: “Talking about this in the grand scheme of things, for the fact that there's businesses or strategies, but we're never gonna grow without some type of emotional mastery. I honestly think grief is like a boot camp. It's a masterclass in emotions and how to handle that.” [32:13] How Ian's Legacy Shaped moveTHRU Ian, Emily's husband, inspired her to pursue business instead of going back to corporate. moveTHRU has become her way of honoring his life through its impact on others. Even if your loved one is gone, celebrate their existence by doing the things they did back when they were still alive. They become our reason to push through with life.  We can't control everything in life, but there's power in choosing what to do with it. [36:34] Surprising Part Of Being An Entrepreneur Emily never thought that business would be fun, but she gets to be creative and share her heart every day. There's no right or wrong way to run a business. Entrepreneurship is fun, but it's a challenge. Having a supportive community can help you overcome the obstacles in your entrepreneurial journey. Jamie: “I'm the happiest I've ever been doesn't mean that I don't have a crying moment from time to time. But, I'm the happiest I've ever been because I know I can work myself through that. I know that I have a support system, a community, all of the things I would ever need to get back on top.” [39:18] Mastermind versus Course Programs Emily likes Masterminds because they support people for the time it takes to improve. Masterminds foster slow transformation.  The community built within a Mastermind feels like a family, which Emily likes because sometimes entrepreneurship can feel lonely. It offers a community to fall back on. There's no judgment or need to explain much, because everyone's going through similar experiences. Emily's future mastermind will be about helping people turn their pain into a meaningful business. Just like her experience, but with the benefit of a community. [43:59] Dealing with People who Judge Your Limits Emily doesn't have a background in mental health, and she does sometimes fear that her life experience alone won't be enough.  When people judge you and start putting limits on what you can do, it says more about their limits than yours. Emily thinks she provides value through her experience as a widow, even without certifications. Knowledge from experience is powerful because you learn from the school of life. [45:50] The Meaning of Limitless Limitless is boundless and beyond time and space. Emily sees it through a grief lens on how love is an eternal connection. Death kills a person, not a relationship. About the Guest Emily Bingham founded moveTHRU Grief in March 2019 after the passing of her husband from cancer. She turned to physical exercise as a spin and barre instructor and as a former ballerina to deal with her grief. She developed the moveTHRU method, which uses the principles of Acceptance & Commitment Theory and the TEAR Model of Grief. What is it that bridges the gap between ambition and achievement? What's the business strategy you need to make that jump from dream to reality? What does it really take to grow? In this ninth episode of The Limitless Podcast, Jamie shares how to live in the gray area between mindset and strategy. She explains why thriving businesses must cultivate a limitless mindset and efficient systems to optimize operations while saving time and money. Finally, she encourages her listeners to reflect on what they and their businesses need to develop a tailored strategy that works for them.  If you want to know how to get into a limitless mindset and create a reliable business strategy — this episode is for you! Here are three reasons why you should listen to this episode: Learn the power of believing in yourself and creating efficient systems to keep your business running smoothly. Understand why it's acceptable — and sometimes beneficial! — not to be at your most productive and creative all of the time.  Discover content planning ideas for your business strategy to engage more clients. Everyone exists for a purpose.  The second is to create systems that will allow you to improve your processes while also allowing you to rest. [06:39] Masculine and Feminine Energy  The masculine energy relates to today's hustle culture. Working around the clock may be essential; however, too much of it can be dangerous to your health. Feminine energy is the power to create meaningful communities inside and around ourselves. You must balance the two energies to find time to rest and maximize your day.  [09:11] Be Kind to Yourself  Your level of creativity varies each day.  People can't perform their best all the time.  When you're feeling overwhelmed, rely on strategies and systems that work for you.  Ideas generally flow in four stages. To learn more about this, tune in to the episode. [11:42] Combining Mindset and Business Strategy When you apply your mindset to your business strategy, cookie-cutter content transforms into a unique branding for your business. Great storytellers tell memorable stories.  Learn to be an excellent storyteller to establish a solid consumer base. [14:04] Posting With a Soul  Create a structure that will allow you to show up regardless of how you feel. When it comes to content planning, one may choose between candy or meal content. Candy content relays easily digestible stories while meal content tackles a deeper narrative.  Listen to the full episode to learn more about applying candy and meal content to your posts. [16:24] Pay Attention to Your Energy Level Consider when you have the energy necessary for content planning.  Focus on only one task instead of doing everything at once.  Time blocking is only feasible as a strategy if you understand your body's rhythm. Jamie explained the relevance of choosing one day per month to focus on producing material for social media sites. However, one is free to create a strategy that works for them. [22:15] Understand Leadership Leaders show up with authenticity and kindness.  Authenticity is accepting that you will not always be at your best. But, regardless of the odds, you choose to rise above the occasion. Jamie: “What I want to encourage you to do is honor the days that you might feel a little distracted and still be there. Because the more authentic you can be, the more we're going to love every side of you. But know that you don't always have to be the same energy each day.”  Listen to the entire podcast to find out the habits you can adopt to boost your performance. Making an impact as a leader means leading by example. [28:39] Own Your Business Growth Instead of relying solely on your business strategy, a leader must be the most powerful influencer in their organization. Word-of-mouth marketing is still the most cost-efficient way to promote your business.  Keeping your business' motor running means allowing the systems you created to work for you even if you're not around.  Tune in to the entire episode to know how Jamie let her business strategy work despite the internet mishap in Colombia.  [33:17] Business and Self-concept Your business is just part of who you are. It does not encompass your entire identity. Honor what you're putting out into the world, regardless of what others think.  [37:24] Have Fun Optimizing  Distance yourself from the outcomes and focus on the significance of turning up no matter what. Jamie: “The strategies won't work if you don't believe in your business. It's unkind to believe so wholly in your business and never have a strategy.” Living in the gray while harnessing mindset and strategy enables you to work in a flow.  [39:22] Reflect on Your Business  Take time to reflect on your entrepreneurial mindset and business strategy.  You can never see growth when there is no engagement with your clients.  Jamie: “Strategy is understanding how the architects of the internet created the internet; how SEO works, how the algorithms work. All of that is going to be an essential piece of the growth for your business. But we also get to honor who you are.”  Enjoyed this Podcast on Creating Limitless Growth with a Community? She grew up in a small town in Ohio. She is part of a big family, which she sees as a gift wherein there is care and love for each other — a place to fit in. Jamie remembers that she was an A+ student but also had a "mischievous or rebellious" streak. She wasn't afraid to bend the rules when she could.  [11:28] Jamie's Ever-present Curiosity Having grown up in a small town, Jamie always had the core value of being curious, making her want to seek out anything and everything.  For college, she chose to attend Ohio University, and she was the only one from her small town to do so at the time.  Attending Ohio University allowed Jamie to reinvent herself and deepen her curiosity about what she wanted to do in life.  [13:16] First Opportunity for Entrepreneurship At Ohio University, Jamie pursued a degree in magazine journalism. During her college days, she created a digital online magazine called Thread Magazine which ran six times a year. It was the first fashion magazine on her campus.  When establishing Thread Magazine, Jamie learned that the big first step is hard. Instead of putting pressure on herself, she understood that it was time to learn and practice.  She picked up how to unsubscribe from the perfect A+ student mentality from this experience, which also helped her realize the importance of taking care of her health. [16:45] Stepping Foot into Social Media Jamie's first jump into using social media was during her undergraduate days running Thread Magazine. Twitter and Facebook were the commonly used platforms back then.  Pinterest and Instagram were only about to launch.  From her first entrepreneurial experience, she decided to minor in Spanish and marketing.   [18:25] The Move to New York Jamie moved to New York without a job. She heard from others that a New York home address was essential to getting a job in the magazine industry. Her parents were initially baffled by her decision, knowing that living in New York would be expensive. Admittedly, she struggled during her initial years in New York. Jamie couch-crashed upon moving to the city, then eventually stayed in a less-than-ideal apartment.  The New York experience as a fresh graduate was a rite of passage. What's important is that she bet on herself and found her footing and support system. Listen to the full episode to hear more of Jamie's anecdotes about her financial struggles in the Big Apple.  [22:40] Entering the Fashion Industry  Jamie eventually got an internship at Interview Magazine.  Then, she also worked at Henri Bendel for their public relations team. At Henri Bendel's flagship store, Jamie met celebrities and assisted in their shopping during the department store's heyday. Jamie: "I might have been leaving a house in the morning that was the yellow cube of hell. But then I got to slap on some heels…and walk down Fifth Avenue and see, 'Okay, this is the potential.' This is the opportunity that the city can create, where it's just a matter of sticking to my goal, sticking to my desire, and continuing through." A big part of her New York journey was seeing the opportunities everywhere. It could have been overwhelming, but she chose to subscribe to the opportunity.  [24:21] Diving into the Corporate World After working at Henri Bendel, Jamie moved to a corporate setting and ran the social media for Jetsetter, a brand of Tripadvisor, for five years. She supported Jetsetter in navigating content and maximizing their email for revenue and partnerships. At Jetsetter, she worked with Showtime on their television series Billions, and on the drama series Suits. Jamie experienced her first burnout in her social media manager role.  [26:00] Social Media and Businesses There are two foundational groups of businesses that try to use social media.  The first is those who ask the hard-hitting questions about how social media helps their businesses thrive. The other group is those who are excited to build a community with social media. The former, especially with older established brands, took a little bit of convincing to get them aboard to use social media to leverage their business. This is why Jamie became a so-called data nerd, creating spreadsheets to show how to generate new traffic, looking at traffic sources, and turning them into partnerships.  [28:39] Trying Out Entrepreneurship Jamie decided to leave Jetsetter without a job in line. She looked for other work and was offered corporate opportunities, but felt that these were the same as what she had just left. Then, she realized that she could turn her previous freelance work into a career — working as a consultant for TEDx speakers, bestselling authors, and female-owned brands. However, Jamie still experienced burnout, having adopted a “more clients = more money” mindset. [30:11] The Wake-up Call In 2019, Jamie's dad died from complications before his retirement. He was an insurance agent who worked long hours.  From this challenging ordeal, she had two realizations. One was to prioritize her health and help others do the same.  Jamie: "We are meant to live this life, not work to live. We want work to be life-giving." Another was that she already had the toolkit to create a healthy routine, which included meditation and paying attention to her body's needs. [32:41] Deciding to Become a Coach Jamie became a certified health coach in 2019, celebrating her father's legacy through what she does now and finding her meaning and purpose in life. Jamie: "Life-giving because what happens inside our internal thoughts, the mindset, the way we take care of ourselves, absolutely bleeds out into our business, absolutely down to our relationships, and ultimately, how focused we are how much we enjoy things." After sharing about the loss of her father, she found her community.  As a health coach and holistic business coach, it's all about empowerment, not the hustle. [34:54] The Present  Jamie has been an entrepreneur for five years and a coach for three years. Her journey was about owning the process and learning. It took her three years to get to a six-figure earning, but it was more about the people she helped and the impact felt, rather than the money.  Coaching has become her most fulfilling experience. [36:21] The Choice to Share Jamie embraced vulnerability to share her story — showing others that it took a support system, failures, and challenges to get to where she is now. The three main areas allowing Jamie to be a full-time entrepreneur with many avenues include a support system, a strong self-belief, and activating strategies. She translated her learnings to her latest program — Thrive Mastermind. Listen to the full episode and check out the resources section to know more about Thrive Mastermind. Do you have a community where you can be yourself and grow alongside your peers? As busy as you may be, it is essential for entrepreneurs to cultivate community. According to Emily Merrell – founder of Six Degrees Society and this week's guest – entrepreneurs should network every day.  In the seventh episode of The Limitless Podcast, Emily joins us to talk about the importance of building your network and your community. We discuss the art of effective networking, which could land you referrals and potential clients. We dive into the advantages of belonging to a community and developing quick problem-solving skills. We also cover how you can adopt the right mindset to network every day. We can work as lone entrepreneurs (or “solopreneurs”), but we can grow even faster when we do it with others. Here are three reasons why you should listen to this episode: Learn the value of networking and community in the context of business and personal growth.  Discover how networking can help you gain clients. However, she couldn't see herself becoming a director of events or CMO of the company. She also found that pivoting her career can be costly.  Emily started Six Degrees Society to bring friends from different industries together and share what they do. She used member bios to form diverse groups. She continued to plan these monthly events until 2016 when she realized that this community could become a company.   [11:33] Emily's Motivation for Becoming a Coach Emily's business coach pointed out that her work was about helping and guiding others — the core of what coaches do.  After overcoming her imposter syndrome, Emily used the success of Six Degrees Society to build a coaching business.  Her coaching focuses on helping people grow their businesses through community events and partnerships.  Emily encourages new coaches to be generous and give services to people in exchange for testimonials and feedback.  Practice is invaluable. Practice will improve the way you sell and boost your confidence.  [16:38] Getting Clients as a Newbie Coach Don't be afraid to tell people that you're selling your services.   The fear of selling is often the fear of burdening others with your offer or the fear of rejection.  You cannot promote in the dark. Jamie shares that people usually take seven to 12 interactions before working with someone. Emily: “When in motion, stay in motion. Once you've hooked one person, keep selling. The right clients will find you at the right time, but you also have to fly your flag and let people know you're selling something.”  [18:51] Taking a Chance on Life-Changing Opportunities Emily shares that her parents were entrepreneurs. She liked how it gave them the freedom to spend time with their family without requesting time off.  When she was still in the corporate world, Emily felt guilty for taking time off.  Entrepreneurs can create a healthy environment for themselves.  The pandemic allowed her to leave the Bay Area, create a mastermind group, shift her work virtually, and give her the freedom to work from anywhere.   [22:56] Why Networking is Important Referrals can shorten the number of necessary touchpoints from the usual seven to twelve, down to three to four. Emily shares that she did not have a website when she first started. She gained clients through referrals.  Six Degrees Society started with Emily's close friends, but it has grown to include friends of friends. This helped her build a strong network of referrals.   Emily: “One good experience can change everything. [It's the] same thing with community, it is a lot more fun to do business with people you know and trust, and [you can] also pre-vet it.”  [26:44] Referrals and Social Media Go Hand-In-Hand  Remember that referred clients will always check your website and socials first before working with you.  Your social media marketing needs consistency and accountability.  If you don't know what to put on social media, ask yourself, ‘How would I like people to feel while engaging with my stuff?'  You can also think about what you want others to ask you for.  [29:05] Everyone Needs Community People need community. However, many people don't reach out until they need something. Being in a community can help you grow and learn as your life changes.  A community should not be something you look for when you need something; it should be built naturally over time.  Your problems are not unique. If you open up about them in a community, there's a high chance someone else has had a similar problem.   Learn from others. Accept that we don't need to try to reinvent the wheel ourselves.  Emily: “Build your networking community when you aren't looking for anything and then tap it when you are. People are going to be that much more receptive to help you.” [35:37] Open Up to a Community   Emily notes that groups can be intimidating, sometimes. Some people fear they aren't enough or are too far behind. Emily reminds us that we can soar when we lean on others.  Remember that the five people you surround yourself with can dictate who you are.  [38:39] How to Practice Networking Emily recommends practicing networking every day. It doesn't need to be at a networking event; it can be with the people you meet on the streets.  Every person can be a potential connection. Be open-minded.  Choose networking events that interest you, so you will be able to meet like-minded people.  Emily suggests wearing something that makes you feel empowered and easy to identify during these events. She also recommends setting intentions but lowering expectations. For instance, having the goal to introduce yourself to two people, rather than coming out with a new job.   [43:51] What Limitless Means to Emily For Emily, “limitless” means being able to buy things without fear or scarcity and operating from a place of generosity and abundance.   It's also about being able to react and make life changes freely.   About Emily Emily Merrell is the founder and business coach at Six Degrees Society, co-founder of the Ready Set Coach Program, and podcast host of The Sixth Degree Podcast. Are you at a point in your business or in your life where you just didn't feel super excited anymore and rather a little bit bored and thinking to yourself ‘what is next? In that situation, most people turn outwards, towards a new business idea, move to a different place, look for a new relationship. They search for excitement and better feelings in the outside world. Why this is the exact wrong approach and what to do instead is what I talk about it in this podcast episode. It's utterly important to understand the difference between the two approaches, so make sure to tune into today's episode

Because neither of that was true for Kundalini business coach, Brianna Rose. In under a year, she was able to take her business from ideation to half a million dollars in revenue, simply by connecting with the impact the service she offered had on her life and inviting other women to work with her to usher in the same types of transformations. In our conversation, Brianna talks about why redefining success was such a huge piece of calling in the rapid growth she's experienced. She shares how she's been able to overcome fear to consistently get in front clients she can help, who are ready and excited to invest in what she has to offer. This week, I talk to artist and entrepreneur Jamie Smith, founder of THRIVE! Jamie creates mixed media work that layers her memories of traveling, family stories, and lost places. She began her artistic career by completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Victoria and later receiving her Bachelor of Arts Education from the University of British Columbia. Her work is heavily influenced by her years abroad in Latin America, living in the Middle East and backpacking around Eastern Europe. Jamie finally settled in Vancouver in 2012 to focus on her art practice. In 2014, She started an annual community art walk in Mount Pleasant called ROVE that connects locals with the artists around them. Later in 2015, Jamie founded THRIVE, a studio to support female artists. That first group of artists met on a monthly basis for six months and supported one another immensely. Jamie saw a huge need for women to support other women and for artists to choose community over competition. The monthly group meetings are now called THRIVE Mastermind and there are over 150 members in Vancouver and around the world. In this episode, we discuss her suggestions for artists who are looking to sell their work, expand their practice and her experience starting a business in the arts. Jamie is genuine and enthusiastic about bringing artists together and supporting them as they grow.   RESOURCES: I Like Your Work Podcast Studio Planner Instagram Submit Work Online Exhibition-Drowned Neon Rose Observations on Applying to Juried Shows   https://www.jamiesmithstudio.com/ https://www.thriveartstudio.com/

We all have that nudge that says, “go this way.” But not everyone listens to it. Rachel McMichael was already running a multiple six figure business when she heard the call to pivot. Today she supports online entrepreneurs to grow their businesses through one core offer: an ongoing membership that fuses group coaching, video content and community. She cut her teeth in business, though, as a personal trainer, and also has success in direct marketing, online courses and Facebook Ads marketing. In this episode, Rachel calls the curtain on these pivots and the questions she's asked herself to validate an idea. She walks us step by step through the roll out for her membership, how she approaches launches and customer acquisition and how she settled on her pricing. There's one thing to grow a business, it's an entirely other thing altogether to have the right systems to support that growth. That's why Rachel breaks down exactly what the infrastructure looks behind the scenes and some of the things you should think about as your grow the number of people you serve. Setbacks are part and parcel of growing so we walk through how she approaches those moments where she falls short of her goals and how to use the feedback in those moments to drive your business forward. As anyone who's run a business with attest, scaling a company isn't simply down to strategies and tactics. As money coach Whitney Hansen explains, so much of it is working through the limiting money beliefs that keep us stuck; the kind that keep us playing small, afraid to ask for the sale and continuing to undervalue what we have to offer. In this episode of the show, Whitney walks us through exactly how she was able to unravel and heal childhood traumas around money so that she could not only get out of debt but also how she was able to educate herself about money in the process and now make a living teaching others what she's learned. On top of providing practical advice like the important metrics to track in your business, how she organises her time using the 80/20 rule, she walks us through how to set revenue goals, healthy money habits to implement to improve your relationship with money and how to reinvest your profits in a way that no only moves your business forward about also feels good. Imposter syndrome and beliefs about not having enough skills or not being competent enough to sell your expertise as a service are just a few of the things that came up for her when she got started. She shares how she was able to unravel some of those beliefs so she could increase her pricing and broaden her impact. Naomi Mdudu is a speaker, business coach, and the founder of The Lifestyle Edit. Today, the business is sold 102 of its own stores, stocked in another 250 and is available in 170 countries international but it didn't start that way. The idea for Kikki K stemmed from an 3am epiphany when Kristina was 22. She found herself in a new country, away from home, friends and family and not happy with the work she was doing and it pushed her to think about her next move needed to look like. The rest, as they say, is history. In the show, Kristina talks about how she was able to take the idea she had for the business and take action and how anyone else with an idea can do the same. She talks about why it's so important to disconnect before we reconnect, shares the morning routine she swears by and breaks down how we can all quickly and easy identify the “one thing” we should be focuses on above all else. You already know that your life has purpose. You understand the importance of living authentically and having integrity. Today, we’ll dig even deeper into what purpose means and looks like. I created a three-step guide to help you know your purpose. Here are the steps: Start asking yourself better questions. To get clarity on your purpose, ask yourself questions about your unique skills, abilities, and personality traits, and the dreams and passions that keep showing up. Craft a personal mission statement. You can spend a couple hours working through these steps and create clarity and plan, but also look back on your life to see what pivotal moments happened for you. Get better company, and take action! If you want to be successful, you need to spend time with people who are already successful. Learn something new every day, and then take action on it. I’ll also share a five-step process that will help you define where you are in your life right now as it relates to your purpose. To start this concrete process, grab a pen and paper, then follow these five steps: Make a list of everything you can remember that made you happy. Write down at least 10 answers. Highlight the items on your list that involve a skill, and then identify that skill. Rank the top 5 highlighted terms in order of the joy they bring you. The skill that brings you the most joy is worth 10 points, with the others descending from there. Rank the top 5 items in terms of their income potential. The most lucrative skill is worth 10 points, with the others descending from there. Total the two ranked columns. The highest score represents a potential purpose or avenue that can happen in your life. Tune into the episode to hear more about how to make these processes work for you, as well as what some Thrive! community members had to say about their purpose! Have you ever said something, then wished you could go back and not say it (or say something else)? Our words are like feathers; once we’ve thrown them into the wind, it’s basically impossible to go gather them all back. And as leading ladies, everything we say is magnified. This is why it’s so important that your message has clarity and imparts grace, and that your words are tastefully spoken. Remember that it’s okay not to say everything! Your words reflect your character, so if you’re thinking positive thoughts, you’ll be able to speak grace, love, and truth to other people. At many organizations, including the learning center that I led, there’s a no-gossip policy. So, what do you do if someone comes to you complaining or gossiping about someone else? Tune into this episode to find out! I’ll also explain how important it is to remember that as a leading lady, you’re not a trash can. Instead, you’re a lighthouse! Let your character and integrity shine through and show, and make sure that the words you speak give life to those who hear them. Finally, I’ll address a question that Jared asked, but instead of answering, I’d like to let the amazing conversation over there speak for itself, so go check it out once you’re done listening to this episode! In This Episode: [00:48] - Jevonnah welcomes listeners to episode 19, and introduces the topic of today’s episode. [02:28] - Today’s show is brought to you by Jevonnah’s signature program, The Coaching Course. [03:42] - What does it mean to you to taste your words before you speak? [05:22] - Jevonnah points out that you need to earn the right to speak the truth in love. [07:10] - As a leading lady, Jevonnah points out, you’re a lighthouse (not a trash can). [07:59] - Jevonnah shares a comment where Jared asked an amazing question that got lots of responses. [10:08] - Remember to taste your words before you speak. As you do that, your words will impart empowerment, edification, and encouragement to those who hear them. We can’t control what happens to us, but we can absolutely control our response, and that’s what makes all the difference. You can have grace even under pressure, and I want you to feel confident in your ability to love others even in difficult moments. Here’s my story: I was on my way back from my Thursday Bible study. As I sat waiting at a red stoplight, I got slammed into from behind by a giant black SUV. The impact was so strong that I was shocked. The driver got out of the SUV and came around to my window. I saw that he was shaking as he asked if I was okay. He was so apologetic, and as I saw his hands shaking, I felt compelled to ask if I could take his hands so we could pray together. After that prayer, the trajectory of the entire incident changed. Everything felt lighter. I was fine, he was fine, even the cars were ultimately fine. Amazingly, I also learned that this man is in a high position with one of the contracting firms here. He extended an invitation to come speak to his employees about having grace under pressure. People ask me all the time how to get clients, but you can’t plan events like this! Making human contact with people, and treating others the way you want to be treated, is one of the very best marketing tactics. Operate with character and integrity, and the opportunities will come to you. Tune into this episode to learn more about this incident, as well as why your decisions about how to respond to what happens to you can make all the difference.   In This Episode: [00:57] - Welcome to episode 18! At this time of year, lots of people are going through ups and downs. You may have a smile on your face, but not be as happy as people think you are. Are you in a dark place? Even though it might be hard to believe in the middle of the darkness, you are blessed. You can go to God in prayer, and while it may seem like a dry season, the refreshing, nurturing rain is coming. I once knew a beautiful, intelligent, smart, funny woman named Collette. We were the best of friends! About six years ago, she was diagnosed with cancer; just two months later, she was gone from this earth. She passed away on Christmas Eve, of all days. That was one of my dark times. God shined His light on that darkness, and blessed me to start my company, the Entrepreneurial First Lady. Take comfort in knowing that the reason that you have big problems is that you have a big destiny. Darkness develops your character! Think of a photo back in the old days of film: it had to be developed in complete darkness. The same goes for seeds; they need to germinate in the darkness underground, not in the light on the surface. The darkness develops your character. It makes you stronger and wiser, and helps your roots go down deep. The very best is still yet to come, just for you!   In This Episode: [00:46] - Jevonnah welcomes listeners to the episode, and introduces today’s topic: the idea that you’re blessed even when you’re in a dark place. Ready for some powerful insight that I think will change your life? Today, we’ll be diving into practical ways you can simplify your life and business, so that you can amplify your life and business! Simplify to amplify. You don’t have to do it all. You can selectively choose what you allow into your mind and life, and create more freedom to enjoy your life and business. To begin implementing this powerful philosophy into your life, start with these seven practical strategies for simplifying to amplify! Follow a quick morning routine. Get some exercise, have a healthy breakfast, and get in some reading and devotional time! Unsubscribe! Take a look at your inbox; how much of it is full of subscriptions that you haven’t gotten to and don’t actually read? Unsubscribe from all those! If you can’t bring yourself to unsubscribe, direct those emails to a different folder so you don’t have to see them constantly. Get a slow cooker. A few minutes in the morning means you’ll come home to an incredible-smelling house and dinner that’s ready to serve. Ladies, get a purse organizer. You’ll be amazed at how much time you save when you don’t have to empty out your whole purse to find a bobby pin. Plan your workouts. If you’re not doing this already, you’re missing out on a lot! Write your to-do list for tomorrow before you go to bed tonight. Here’s the big one: slow down. Instead of rushing through life trying to do and experience everything at once, come up with a plan to be more deliberate. Let me give you an example of that final tip in case it’s not clear. I used to have a dozen or more tabs open at one time in my browser, but recently, I’ve moved to just having a couple open at a time. This brings an incredible amount of clarity and freedom, because my brain isn’t trying to focus on all those things at once. Clear the clutter from your physical space, mental space, and digital space!   In This Episode: [00:51] - Welcome to episode 16! Today, I’ll talk to you all about how to smile in times of trouble. Before that, though, let me take a moment to say happy Thanksgiving! I hope you’re surrounded by loving friends and family, and that you’re enjoying this special time of gratitude for the many things that God has done in our lives. In this episode, you’ll learn three ways that you can smile and maintain your peace, joy, and sanity, even during turbulent times. There are nights when you cry yourself to sleep, if you sleep at all. You’re burdened with responsibility and it feels like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. Sometimes bad news makes you question how you’ll even survive, much less thrive. The world might feel like it’s crashing in around you. Even in these moments, when life feels at its lowest, these three tools can help you find a way to smile. First, take perspective. Ask yourself how you can respond in the middle of this turbulent time, and what it makes possible. We can’t control what happens to us, but we can control our response and choose joy, sanity, and love. Second, think about how you overcame the turbulent season last time it came around. Nothing is too hard for God, and He allowed and enabled you to overcome last time. He’ll do it again, and knowing this gives you victory, abundance, and the right mindset. Third, renew your mind and direct your emotions. You are in charge of the way you think, and sometimes you need to stop and think about what you’re thinking about. If you don’t arrest the thoughts that come to tear you down, you’ll begin to operate at that level. Speak life to yourself, and watch what you allow yourself to think. We all deal with trying times and turbulent seasons, but remembering your “why” will help you keep moving forward. Quiet your mind and soul, and intentionally choose what you’re going to do to strengthen yourself when those times come.   In This Episode: [01:15] - Jevonnah welcomes listeners to the podcast and introduces today’s topic. [03:44] - What does it really mean to smile and maintain our peace, joy, and sanity even in turbulent times? [04:29] - The first of Jevonnah’s three tips is to take perspective. How much do you love and appreciate being a woman? Come on, be honest. How much do you really love bleeding every month? How much do you really appreciate the fact that your mood shifts every two seconds? How much do you really love the fact that anything can make you cry, that you can't shut your mouth when needed, you feel guilty about pretty much everything, that everything feels right and wrong at the same time, oh and you know that feeling that you have to apologize for everything? How much do you really love that about yourself? How about your constant search for balance? I don't hear men looking for balance. How come they have it and we don't?? Admit that you feel unappreciated at home because it is clear that you do much more than your partner. Your work never ends. We've all been complaining that we have two shifts, one starts once you leave home and the other starts once you come back home. How do you feel about the biological clock question (is it time to have a baby, should I wait should I not). How much do you love your female body? How much do you love these curves of yours, stretch marks, the saggy belly that you've earned after multiple pregnancies, oh and don't get me started talking about being pregnant, I mean up to six months is was kinda cute but after that, I felt like a whale or a sea lion)? Are you with me so far? Then there are deeper layers to this question, deeper layers pertaining to your womanhood.  As women, I think we all struggle with setting boundaries, to protect ourselves and our families (but how to do it in a way that doesn't make us look bad?). How about knowing what you want with regards to your life's purpose? I hate this question! What do you mean what I want? I want everything and I want it now! How about the feeling we all have that we are in constant competition with no other than other women? How absurd is that? I love this quote “A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms.” How are you doing with regards the most complicated relationship you'll have, which is with your MOTHER? So yeah, being a woman is messy, juicy, complicated, chaotic (sometimes) but so beautiful, wild and majestic. Unfortunately, so many women (and I include myself in this as well) would much rather be men. Life seems easier as a man. However, If there is something the world is missing at this point in time is more feminine power. More flexibility, fluidity, and compassion. Which are all qualities of the divine feminine. What is a woman? What does it mean to be feminine? Womanhood and femininity both embody polarity. There is softness on one side but harshness on the other, compassion on one side and ferocity on the other. As women, we all strive to live in contentment and adventure, freedom and service. We all, in some way, possess beauty, creativity, intuition, and love, although most of us have no idea how to embody womanhood and live in alignment with our divine feminine superpower. I'm not pretending to know more than you on this topic, I do admit, however, that I am super curious and thirsty to figure it out and hope you will join me on this journey. What you need to know is that you are made for love, and you are loved, cellulite and all. My goal with this particular podcast episode is to expose every woman to the richness and beauty of her female body and how to use this knowledge so you can live your life with ease and flow. Many of us don't know that the female body is cyclical in nature, meaning it restores itself in a cyclical rhythm (as opposed to the masculine nature which is linear for the most part). Don't get me wrong, men cycle as well, however their cyclicality culminates every 24 hours, as opposed to women who cycle for 30 days. What are some examples of nature's cycles? Seasons (weather and climate change appx every quarter), day and night (change every 24 hours), the moon (which goes through four phases each month). As human beings we are not disconnected from nature, the contrary is true, we are part of nature and, as a result, our bodies also go through cycles and changes. Females, in particular, cycle through menstruation which averages 28 days, which, interestingly is very similar to the phases of the moon, and we'll talk about that in a second. Before I go any further into this topic, I want to include a side note. If your cycle is less than 28 days or more than that you can still benefit from this as well. We are talking about an average here, but the point to remember here is the predictability. If your menstrual cycle is pretty regular and repeats regularly, this info is relevant to you. First of all, you need to know that we, women, are connected to the moon (which also is on a 30-day cycle), so in case you no longer menstruate, you can still benefit from cyclicality by following the four phases of the moon every 30 days. So, If your menstrual cycle is irregular, due to conditions such as polycystic ovaries (aka PCOS), PMS, weight gain, or if you are still breastfeeding and haven't gotten your period yet, you can still live in cyclicality, but instead of your body's rhythm, you can sync yourself to the four phases of the moon. If you are interested to learn more about this you can follow Dr. Ezzie Spencer online who is the creator of LunarAbundance.com, where she teaches women how to benefit from your relationship with the moon. I know this sounds woo-woo, but believe me, this stuff actually works. Think of it as a lost wisdom which you are relearning. I am actually working on bringing her on the show for an interview, so stay tuned for that. In the meantime, I will include her website in the show notes so you can check her out. Just like most things in nature (four phases of the moon, four phases of seasons), there are 4 different phases of the female cycle: Menstrual Phase - begins on the first day of menstruation and lasts until the 5th day of the menstrual cycle. The following events occur during this phase: The uterus sheds its inner lining of soft tissue and blood vessels which exits the body from the vagina in the form of menstrual fluid. Blood loss of 10 ml to 80 ml is considered normal. You may experience abdominal cramps. These cramps are caused by the contraction of the uterine and the abdominal muscles to expel the menstrual fluid. Follicular Phase - This phase also begins on the first day of menstruation, but it lasts until the 13th day of the menstrual cycle. The following events occur during this phase: The pituitary gland secretes a hormone that stimulates the egg cells in the ovaries to grow. One of these egg cells begins to mature in a sac-like-structure called follicle. It takes 13 days for the egg cell to reach maturity. While the egg cell matures, its follicle secretes a hormone that stimulates the uterus to develop a lining of blood vessels and soft tissue called endometrium. Ovulation Phase - (day 14) On the 14th day of the cycle, the pituitary gland secretes a hormone that causes the ovary to release the matured egg cell. The released egg cell is swept into the fallopian tube by the of the fimbriae. Fimbriae are finger-like projections located at the end of the fallopian tube close to the ovaries and cilia are slender hair-like projections on each Fimbria. Luteal phase (day 15-28) -  This phase begins on the 15th day and lasts until the end of the cycle. The following events occur during this phase: The egg cell released during the ovulation phase stays in the fallopian tube for 24 hours. If a sperm cell does not impregnate the egg cell at that time, the egg cell disintegrates. The hormone that causes the uterus to retain its endometrium gets used up by the end of the menstrual cycle. This causes the menstrual phase of the next cycle to begin. Throughout these 4 different phases, your hormones are at alternating levels. Your energy, diet, willingness to socialize and emotions differ from phase to phase. As females, we are only thaught about the menstrual cycle and most of us know nothing about the other three phases and how to eat, exercise and optimize them for overall health and vitality. Today I want to teach you how you can use this information so that you can THRIVE at work, your relationships, parenting, marriage and other important aspects of your life. This is what I mean by saying - own your divine feminine superpower! Here we go. Let's start by talking about how your diet should vary during each phase: The one thing to remember throughout this entire process is that estrogen, the female hormone, needs to be excreted properly and efficiently from the body. And the best way to do it is via food. Most symptoms that occur from hormonal imbalance issues are the result of excess estrogen. The foods I'm going to mention here support the metabolization of estrogen through your elimination organs and the removal of that unwanted excess from your body. I am going to talk about generic foods here, however, inside the THRIVE mastermind is where we are going to go much deeper into this and you will actually get a complete meal plan with recipes from me based on this philosophy. Follicular phase (before you ovulate, after your period) Artichoke, broccoli, carrot, parsley, green peas, string beans and zucchini Ovulatory phase (when you’re ovulating) Asparagus, brussels sprouts, chard, escarole, scallion, spinach Luteal phase (before you have your period) Cauliflower, collard greens, daikon, onion, parsnip, radish, squash, sweet potato Menstrual phase (your period) Beet, kale, kelp, mushrooms If you eat in accordance with your cycle, your body will get the support it needs to live in alignment with nature, excrete the estrogen efficiently and your painful symptoms will be eliminated. Help your body do what it was designed to do! How your exercise regime should be different in each cycle: Again, since each phase has a different level of hormones, it is not wise to always follow the same exercise regime for every day of your cycle. Here's what you can try instead. During Menstruation:  Workout: Walk – keep your workouts mild, even if you’re not feeling major discomfort. When: An evening stroll is a perfect way to get some simple movement. Follicular Phase (the week after your period) Workout: Run When: Mid-day – your estrogen will be low and your cortisol levels will be just right for a challenging cardio burst. Ovulation (mid-cycle) Workout: Intense cardio, dance, or bodyweight circuit When: Early morning – you’ll have tons of energy during this time of the month, so take advantage of that natural high! Your testosterone is higher during this phase, so whatever you do, feel free to go all out! Premenstrual/Luteal Phase Workout: Pilates, yoga When: Keep it early during the first half, and then transition into the early evening. You might still feel full of energy during the first days of your luteal phase, so feel free to keep kicking butt in more intense workouts early in the day. But if you start to experience PMS symptoms in the days before your period, it’s time to tone it down and switch to Pilates or strength training in the early evening. Restorative (yin) yoga before bed can also be hugely helpful in combatting issues like moodiness and bloating. Let's talk about how your social and mental state changes during each phase:   You know how sometimes you're feeling magnetic, energized, and dying to meet new people, and other times in the month you feel withdrawn, anti-social like you need to do some meditating/reflecting? If yes, then you're actually already cycling syncing without even knowing! I'm going to talk about where to put the female social and energetic focus during each phase. In general, during my period I spend lots of time alone, reflecting, journaling, and taking long baths. I say "no" to most social situations and use this time as a way to reflect on the past month to see what worked and what didn't. Think of it as a time when your body is shedding a lining, and for you to shed specific habits, people, or hobbies that are no longer serving you. A little "spring cleaning", if you will. In the follicular phase, I set goals for myself and plan out my month. I also set intentions for myself and my career. It's a great time to start projects as your brain is most active with structural thinking. During my ovulation phase, I'm normally most social. I crave time with my girlfriends and say yes to all social invites. I also plan my own calendar according to my cycle. When I'm ovulating, I am most communicative so I plan important business meetings and first dates around this time. I'm also most apt to collaborate during this time. It's a great time to call an old friend or your mother. In the first half of my luteal phase, I feel still social so I still go out and hang with friends. I'm usually most assertive during this phase, no BS. Halfway through, I begin to feel agitated if I am around people too much and begin to feel myself turning inwards. Obviously, in modern day America I don't have the pleasure of saying "no" to all social obligations and meetings, so I practice grace here and do my best to honor my body while staying realistic. If you are at least curious about this way of living, I recommend to check out Alisa Vitti's work about Cycle Syncing, I definitely recommend picking up the book Womancode, get the Floliving myFLO app, and following the FloLiving blog. I remember when I first became a mom I was super motivated and excited, full of stamina and grit, and I've put all of myself into mothering and parenting. Then, when baby #2 come along I kinda got the hang of it all and realized that this is not exactly what I've envisioned in the beginning. Rest, fun and true joy were pushed to the side and the "responsible me" kicked in to do the work, whether it is parenting my kids or my day to day job. But what happens when you work at a place that drains and sucks the life out of you? If you are surrounded by negativity, drama and small talk all day long, or if you realize that you do work that is not inspiring or really important in the world? Or what if you have a soul ache that calls you to explore more of yourself, try something new and find your true purpose? On top of all that, every day you come back come to crying babies, needy kids, homework, dishes, laundry and a husband with his own needs? How do you think this woman shows up in her life as a mother? Will she enjoy her children? Will she be able to see them for who they truly are without projecting her own discomfort onto them? How would this woman show up in her marriage? Will she be able to enjoy her sex life, explore more of her sensuality and body with her partner? How will she show up in her life? Happy and joyful? Or bitter and miserable? For most of us, this looks like overwhelm, chronic stress, we feel like we want out every single day, some of us even regret we did this to ourselves n the first place. It's hard, it's challenging, uninspiring, and soul-sucking. So many women I work with feel like they have to suck it up, put their big girls pants on and keep going. They must do what they need to do, wait it out and then, 18 years later, MAYBE things will change. Sometimes this becomes really dangerous as this void in the soul is literally manifested as a disease in the body. None of us wants that, of course. But what do you do? How do you change? Can you change? I think the first thing we must realize is that this is a choice. Every day is a choice. You deserve this, you are worthy of it and you are enough. You can either live your life on auto-pilot or choose to seek out ways to thrive as a woman, wife and a mother. This is exactly what we are exploring, together, on this podcast and in the THRIVE Mastermind for Conscious Mothers who are ready to make a difference in their lives with regards to their health, wellbeing, relationships, marriage, and parenting. Show up for yourself because you are worth it!  Today I have a fun interview with two mamas, Liat and Carolina, co-creators of the Momjo movement which is all about inspiring, empowering, motivating and entertaining moms. They both have three kids, like myself, and I love their fun, honest and vulnerable YouTube videos targeted at moms like you and I and, calling us to embrace our passions, curiosity, and individuality. I love their style, humor, vulnerability, and glow but most of all I love the fact that they are my neighbors and I actually got to hang out with them once in the playground with our kids! So cool to be able to hug these women in person! We've had some issues with the sound but I think our conversation was so juice and interesting so I decided to launch it anyway. So without further ado, here's my interview with Liat and Carolina! Show Notes Apply to The Thrive Mastermind For Conscious Mothers Momjo.ca Momjo on YouTube  Momjo on Instagram  Momjo on Facebook

Billion Dollar Co-Host:Your body is your biggest asset. You need to start investing in it now. Start by hiring a coach or mentor. That's what this episode's co-host had done. Nicholas Bayerle founder of Thrive 2016 Make Money Matter (http://attendthrive.com) in San Diego. (http://thebilliondollarbody.com) On This Episode You Will Hear:[spp-timestamp time="01:39"] Nicholas ended 2016 with the booth at Thrive and speaking at the Thrive Mastermind. Later this year Nicholas has The Billion Dollar Body, Live event launching! [spp-timestamp time="02:55"] You are limitless. Be more, do more [spp-timestamp time="03:55"] Filtering the impurities out and unlocking what's inside of you [spp-timestamp time="05:06"] We already have what we need, [spp-timestamp time="07:41"] Not allowing success in any area of your life to stop you from growing in those different areas and hiring a coach. If you want to go fast go by yourself if you want to go far go with a team [spp-timestamp time="12:08"] If you have never been taught before it is a lot quicker and easier to get you on the right path even sooner. [spp-timestamp time="16:33"] Is there purpose behind what you are doing. Everyone was born with their body, you didn't have to put a down payment, you never had to pay monthly for it so because of that you were given the greatest asset on the entire earth that allows you to go out and experience relationships, to have success in business, to give you motivation and energy. Realize what the value of your health is and your body is worth more than a Billion Dollars. Treat it as your biggest asset and begin to invest in it. Your body is the fuel source in which all things come from. [spp-timestamp time="19:38"] If you have a Billion Dollars in the bank your lying in a hospital bed, was it all worth it? Your health is your true wealth. Have a billion dollar level of freedom. Commitment is doing what you were said you were going to do long after the feeling you said it and has past. We all commit to things with excitement and afterwards when that excitement has gone we don't follow through on the commitment because we don't have any more feeling but commitment is not supposed to be attached to feeling, you make commitments while you have the feeling so when you don't have it anymore you still do it because you are committed to it. 99% of people can follow through for other people but not for themselves. The other 1% of people hold themselves to a higher standard than they do for other people. You need to be committed to yourself, you need to work o discipline outside of feeling with things you make commitments on and the worst commitment you can break is the one that you make to yourself. [spp-timestamp time="24:59"] The Billion Dollar Body is solely focused on men [spp-timestamp time="26:40"] Taking the arrows as leaders to allow women to rise up [spp-timestamp time="30:16"] Leadership - Laying down your life [spp-timestamp time="31:48"] Breaking down the castle walls and rising up [spp-timestamp time="34:35"] Chasing the carrot. [spp-timestamp time="37:39"] When people take care of themselves they usually carry a higher level of self-esteem [spp-timestamp time="41:35"] Being transparent, showing the vulnerability and doing the self-work. If you are upset at where you were, understand what got you there so you can ensure that does not happen again. Nicholas tells a story of when he was 13 years old and his self-esteem was destroyed and built back up again. [spp-timestamp time="44:55"] Accept reality quickly, accept reality now [spp-timestamp time="49:21"] How Nicholas met his former Navy Seal mentor [spp-timestamp time="51:34"] You are the product of the five people you spend the most time with. [spp-timestamp time="53:55"] Leveling up what your expectation of life is [spp-timestamp time="57:49"] When the student is ready the teacher will come. The coaches...
