David Hollander of Order Desk talks about launching his SaaS platform and leveraging his passion for development to grow the company to over 30,000 MRR David Hollander is the CEO and founder of Order Desk, a platform that allows merchants to save time in eCommerce order fulfillment. The business that he started as a side-project has since evolved to become an entirely bootstrapped company with more than five employees. He talks to Geordie about his journey. What you’ll Learn The story behind the Order Desk platform How Foxy cart works What triggered David to restart his operations? How does David’s new platform differ from his old one? Did the relaunch help boost Order Desk’s performance? At what point did David quit the agency (Foxy cart), and how did he go about it? How David’s customers find him Why David thinks that word of mouth is more effective than affiliate marketing When did David get his big break with Order Desk? Importance of teamwork In this Episode: Order fulfillment is a critical part of the eCommerce industry, and Order Desk strives to make the process smooth for their customers. David says Order Desk is a SaaS platform that mainly deals with merchants. The merchants bring in their orders into the Order Desk platform from different eCommerce channels. They (Order Desk) then dispatch the orders based on the merchant’s request to their preferred fulfillment locations. David tells Geordie how the Order Desk idea was born. Listen to the podcast to figure out how David’s association with Foxy cart led him into meeting different customers with varied needs. He also discusses how he leveraged one customer’s needs to come up with an order fulfillment platform. So robust was the platform that some customers advised him to start charging for his platform. David says he was not ready to start charging for his services, but he thought it was a great idea after some time. According to David, the MVP did not cost him real money, but he spent lots of time building it. David continued working for the agency while building and advancing his SaaS platform. Listen to the podcast to figure out how he added his order fulfillment platform to other main eCommerce channels. Soon, David says, he started receiving different demands from different people, which forced him to consider going back to the drawing board. Listen to the podcast to find out how David started rebuilding his order fulfillment platform and the effort it took to achieve success. During the rebuilding process, David’s old platform was making $1,000 every month, but customers could not wait for the new platform. Often, all you need to take action is one trigger word which is what happened to David. He says a customer approached, and encouraged him to release the advanced platform. Something then hit him, and he realized he had to release it as soon as possible. David went ahead to launch the platform even though it was not ready. He admits that the platform can be complicated for users and highlights measures he took to make it simpler. Find out the details from the podcast. David mentions that the platform kept growing, and he added numerous integrations regularly, which increased his income tremendously. He worked long hours based on how excited he was, a feeling he admits was triggered by customer excitement and satisfaction. David says he built integrations upon request from customers. He explains how the process worked, and you can figure the details out from the podcast. At some point, Order Desk was evolving fast, and David realized that he needed to hire even though he was skeptical about it. Why did he struggle with hiring? Find out from the podcast. He also explains how he conducted the hiring process. His first hire turned out to be successful, and by the end of that year (2016), they had significant progress. David would later hire more staff from outside the USA who he says has done a great job. However, he mentions that his first developer left after a few months, which he blames on his (David’s) inability to onboard him accordingly. Did David finally get an effective developer? Find out from the podcast. Order Desk has experienced a particular trend, which David explains further in the podcast. If you are an aspiring eCommerce platform entrepreneur, you should not miss this part of the podcast. David says he prefers email support as opposed to phone support. Find out why this is so from the podcast. His big break happened back in 2019 when he and his five employees went for a retreat. He concludes the podcast by mentioning that successful people should work hard towards their goal. Resources David Hollander Twitter David Hollander LinkedIn
Join Scott and Mark with their guests David Mitchell Jr. as they chat about diving into cryptocurrency and the future of digital transactions. David is a YouTuber whose content ranges from real estate investing to now cryptocurrency. Today, he shares his thoughts on the “crypto as the people’s new currency” movement and how the recent hype of Dogecoin may cause the rise of other crypto forms. If you want to get ahead with digital stocks and currency, stay tuned and enjoy the episode!Crypto As The People’s CurrencyWith the promise of it stabilizing later down the line, there has been a movement to make crypto the people’s new currency recently, piquing the interest of many. David Mitchell Jr. even dove into what it could mean concerning the current economy and the dollar’s value. He believes that certain aspects have to take place. The issue of inflation has often hindered the possibility of crypto becoming the people’s currency. Take the dollar, for example. The dollar also struggles with inflation. It usually has to be attached to something to grow in value, such as gold and oil. Cryptocurrencies are no exception to this problem. The current economy is so linked to physical investments that people would more often than not take out loans for real estate, cars, education, and the like. But now that we live in a digital age where most transactions are done online, cryptocurrency can be the people’s new form of payment. Investors may be turned off by crypto due to inflation now. Still, once companies start incorporating crypto into their system, its value may stabilize because then it would have goods linked to it. Then again, another issue would be regulations surrounding transactions that use cryptocurrency, which is where the Federal Reserve comes in. Either way, many factors have to be considered before crypto can become the people’s currency, but its possibilities are just as endless. The Rise of New CryptocurrenciesIn the last five years, Dogecoin has caused plenty of hype surrounding cryptocurrency. Hence, David believes that we will see numerous cryptocurrencies popping up because of it, especially in 2021. Cryptocurrencies like Doge have already made millionaires in the past few weeks alone so, who is to say it will end there? David, for one, has said that if ever he were to gun for any of the current cryptos in the market, he would hold onto Doge and AMC. According to him, everything else, such as GameStop stocks and the like, is still traditional. And with how things are rapidly developing in the digital market, there is no guarantee that these forms of crypto will hold their own. Then again, David would still preach for people never to invest what they are afraid of losing. While people have often joked about putting their retirement fund into crypto, it is still beneficial to practice caution when it comes to crypto. The issue of inflation is still prevalent after all. That being said, the most significant loss would be if you put everything in, and then it does not take off, but when you do sell it, that is when it takes off. Therefore, patience and perseverance are still the keys to any successful investment, whether crypto or not.Outline of the Episode:•[01:53] Who David Mitchell Jr. is and his range as an online content creator.•[05:06] What got David into investing and the first related project he worked on as an investor.•[07:50] Sharing experiences with real estate and the most significant project David is currently working on.•[10:38] What prompted him to learn more about cryptocurrency, specifically Dogecoin, and his initial thoughts.•[13:40] “Crypto as the people’s currency” movement and what it could entail for the current economy.•[16:06] David’s answer to “Is it possible for cryptocurrency like Doge to be stabilized enough to become the people’s new currency?”•[19:25] The issue with stabilizing Doge at just 1$ and how the dollar itself is losing value.•[22:31] The solution to making crypto the people’s currency and how inflation can affect how we transact with businesses.•[27:32] How having an exit strategy is essential when diving into crypto and the risks behind investing in said currency.•[39:02] The Bitcoin chain and how it validates itself through exchanging the same currency.•[42:06] What type of regulations would the Federal Reserve implement with crypto if it does become the people’s currency.•[46:37] How the recent hype with Dogecoin could mark the rise of newer forms of cryptocurrency.•[53:44] The value of “only investing what you can afford to lose” mindset regarding cryptocurrency and its inflation issues.•[55:21] David Mitchell Jr.’s thoughts on the conspiracy theory “Is Australia real?”•[57:43] Why David would entertain the offer of a one-way trip to Mars and what he would want to discover there.•[01:00:49] David’s “guilty pleasure” of listening, and possibly singing along, to Disney songs on a road trip.•[01:02:06] The piece of information David knows that he thinks should be Illegal for him to know.Catch David Mitchell Jr.!YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbu9Jq1ewrfp1ZjCS-aKRQA Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/iamdavidmitchelljr Connect with AmigosPC!Website:https://www.amigospc.netFacebook:https://www.facebook.com/TwoandahalfAmigosInstagram:https://www.instagram.com/amigospcTwitter:https://twitter.com/AmigosPC Check out Offical AmigosPC Merch at:https://teespring.com/stores/amigospcListen to the AmigosPC podcast on the following platforms:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-3-amigos…https://www.spreaker.com/show/the-two-and-a-half-a…https://www.iheart.com/podcast/256-two-and-a-half-…

David Eagleman (@davideagleman) is a neuroscientist at Stanford, CSO of sensory substitution technology company NeoSensory, host of Emmy-nominated PBS/BBC series The Brain, and author of Livewired: The Inside Story of the Ever-Changing Brain. What We Discuss with David Eagleman: Like organisms in a forest, the multicellular components of your brain are as much in competition with one another as they are in cooperation. How your sensory landscape adapts to utilize what's useful and discard what's not as you learn new skills. Why David believes the nature vs. nurture debate is dead (and that Darwin might owe Lamarck a bit of an apology). How neglect can irreparably shape the brain of a child, and what this can teach us about the way different generations learn about, process, and behave in the world. How senses like sight and hearing can be translated by technology for people without a native ability to process them, and why we'll be able to invent entirely new senses with the help of technology. Over the last few years, the opportunities for global value investing have improved significantly. Yields are incredibly low across the board, putting pressure on improving operational performance to generate returns. In such an environment, Europe is fertile ground for the value investor. With room for operational improvement in many sectors and a robust institutional environment, it’s an ideal market to deploy your activist dollar. When I decided to bring this topic to the show, I couldn’t think of anyone better than David Marcus to have a thorough conversation. David Marcus is Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Investment Officer of Evermore Global Advisors, LLC, which he co-founded in 2009, and is also portfolio manager of the Evermore Global Value Fund. Beginning his career in 1988 at Mutual Series Fund, David was mentored by renowned value investor Michael Price and rose to manage the Mutual European Fund and co-manage the Mutual Shares and Mutual Discovery Funds, representing over $14 billion in assets. In 2000, he founded Marcstone Capital Management, LP, a long-short Europe-focused equity manager, largely funded by Swedish financier Jan Stenbeck. After Mr. Stenbeck passed away in 2002, David closed Marcstone, co-founded a family office for the Stenbeck family, and advised on the restructuring of several public and private companies the family controlled. David graduated from Northeastern University in 1988 with a B.S. in Business Administration and a concentration in Finance. On this episode, David and I discuss his structured approach to learning that he’s been committed to since starting his career, his comprehensive approach to investment analysis, why he believes there are huge opportunities in the European markets, how many people are taking the wrong approach when assessing investments in Europe, and so much more! I have two guests today: Tiago Forte and Will Mannon. Tiago is my business partner and the creator of an online course called Building a Second Brain. The two of us record a podcast like this every year to reflect on what we’ve learned about the online education industry. And this time, we invited our Director of Student Experience: Will Mannon. Will oversees all aspects of the student experience with the exception of curriculum design. He’s at the frontier of thinking about live online learning, from how assignments should be delivered to how live sessions should be structured. ____________________________ Show Notes 3:21 - Why hiring your first employee is one of the most important steps you'll take in your business. 5:38 - How sharing a workforce and resources with another business or entrepreneur can help fast-track personal and professional growth. 11:00 - How running an online course is like organizing a music tour. 13:30 - The role of the alumni mentors in Tiago's courses, and how they have changed from his first to his most recent cohort. 17:16 - What different mentors can bring to the table and why the differences between them all brings strength to the program. 21:03 - Why giving as many people as possible the ability to lead allows much more effective learning for everyone. 25:04 - The nature of burnout and why creatives are so prone to experiencing it. 31:04 - Discovering the right size for a cohort and how to scale effectively. 37:13 - How to help students find each other and make meaningful and lifelong connections with each other. 40:28 - The "beer mode" and "coffee mode" of productivity. 44:32 - How to increase your focus by never giving yourself enough time. 51:02 - Why David and Will organize Write of Passage to have attendees "come for the ideas and stay for the people". 56:23 - Why running a course should be about empowering leadership in students, not in building dependence on the teacher. 1:02:33 - Why the element of shock is so fundamental to deep learning. 1:06:43 - How friendship can come so readily out of hardship and pain. 1:11:33 - The unusual growth of David and Tiago's online brand this year and what sparked it. 1:14:45 - Why writing a book summary for Tiago is so integral in internalizing the information and the message contained within it. 1:24:22 - What hands-on education and perseverance in the face of extreme difficulty can teach us that traditional education never can. 1:32:30 - What we can learn about education from businesses and markets outside of the educational sphere. 1:36:33 - Why success in a new business should not be focusing on competition, but on radical differentiation. 1:39:23 - The importance of finding your community online and curating it to inspire and inform you.
David Limbrick MP is a member of Victoria's Legislative Council (the upper house). A long-time member of the LDP (www.ldp.org.au) he has risen to fame during Victoria's COVID-19 lockdowns for being one of the only politicians to stand for basic human rights such as school children returning to school. Today’s topic is important, but it is hugely stigmatized in our culture. You may not have even heard about paternal postpartum depression, but my guest today shares what he experienced with the births of his two children. Dr. David Levine is a pediatrician in New Jersey. He was blindsided by postpartum depression because, like most of us, he thought it only happens to women. He shares the struggle of having to talk to his wife about it and how he found help. Even more surprising is that he experienced postpartum while working as a pediatrician. He completed his undergraduate degree at Rutgers College Medical School at NYU and his residency in pediatrics at Yale. Dr. Levine is not on the board of Postpartum Support International (PSI), where he works in professional outreach as a staunch advocate for fathers’ mental health. He’s written a book about his experience, which will hopefully be published soon to get the message out to fathers that they are not alone. Show Highlights: Why so little is known about postpartum mental health, especially concerning fathers David’s experience when his first child was born seven years ago How David felt his aggravation and agitation increase as his infant son cried and could not be calmed How David looked for support groups and resources for dads--and couldn’t find anything How he kept getting worse and started envisioning committing violence against his child: “It was like watching a horror movie in my mind.” How David finally told his wife about his depression and intrusive thoughts How David tried medication briefly and then hit rock-bottom around week 7 of his son’s life How David began his long road to recovery with therapy, a baby nurse, and more sleep How he gained confidence as a father and began to bond with his son when he was 3-4 months old How David began working with PSI and then had his second child three years ago How his experiences were very similar, yet very different with his daughter Why David feels that the traditional traps of masculinity kept him from seeking help earlier How men experience anxiety and depression much differently than women do Why postpartum depression in dads might manifest with anger, withdrawal from the family, and even physical violence The pushback from people who don’t believe that postpartum depression exists for fathers Why there should be more research, understanding, and resources for all aspects of male mental health The hard statistics about male and female depression How we can catch paternal postpartum depression better by teaching pediatricians to screen mothers AND fathers, and teaching obstetricians to inform mothers to check on dads David’s manuscript for his book and his determination to get it published Hopeful messages from David: “Paternal postpartum depression is fixable. We can prevent some of this from happening. With that, we can improve the lives of children and their parents and make stronger families.”
At its core, managing wealth is about finding the best solutions for your clients. As he mentions in today’s discussion with him, this sentiment has guided David Booth’s storied career. As the Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Dimensional Fund Advisors, David’s career is so illustrious that he’s been called the father of evidence-based investment products. We open our conversation by exploring David’s career, beginning with his job as a shoe salesman in Kansas to developing the first index fund. Reflecting on his early successes and challenges, David opens up about how his clients reacted when small caps underperformed. A key theme this episode, David emphasizes the importance of making decisions that are grounded in academic research. We then dive into several topics ranging from David’s views on value portfolios to the stroke of luck that led Dimensional to open their products to financial advisors. This episode was recorded at an exclusive event called PodMAX where founders had an opportunity to share their stories and knowledge. Special guest host Hoan Thai leads the conversation down a path of insights, solutions, and collaboration. Join us for our next event at www.podmax.co David Iglewicz is the President of Prostoig Capital. David has been a practicing pediatric dentist since 2003. He has been doing passive investing since 2004. In 2008, he personally lost a significant portion of his assets and knew there had to be a better way of having a better cash flow stream. Then he found the way through investing in Multifamily Real estate. Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation: Why David became a dentist and how he eventually lost his passion for it How private equity became his turning point How he got into real estate investing The downfall of being too smart Put yourself first. David’s investing journey What makes passive investment so powerful is its intrinsic value Passive investing vs. mutual funds Episode Highlights: What He Saw In Private Equity and Real Estate Investing The downfall with anybody who's smart is oftentimes that they're too smart for their own good. David was able to drop his ego and invest in something that most dentists and medical professionals weren't doing at the time. He was vulnerable enough to open up and put his guard down. He transitioned and the grass is indeed greener on the other side. What to Do When You're No Longer Happy With Your Career Put yourself first in the patient's shoes that when you're talking to that family, you become that patient. And all of a sudden, you relate to them at the same level. This teaches you to be humble and when you do that, you allow opportunities to come your way. Drop your blinders and feel those emotions and feel the fear. Feel what it does to you because it's not going to do anything. Let those emotions go through you. And all of a sudden, you're going to look left and right. Why Passive Investing Works Because of your investments within the apartment buildings, people pay rent so the cash flow still comes in. Then there's a potential upside, too, if the building is sold or refinanced because there's a big payoff, and the monthly or quarterly payoffs throughout. Whereas with a stock or mutual fund, you're only banking on that appreciation and you're not getting any of that cash flow. Not to mention, the tax benefits you’ll be getting from it. Sure there are risks, but the benefits far outweigh the risk in apartment buildings. It's a hard asset that produces income. You can produce income in multiple different ways. Not only do you have the income from the tenants, but you can have income from storage, from washer dryers, or you can do a billboard on the building, or do a cell phone tower. Then you can also reduce the expenses. By increasing the revenue streams, you're making the building worth so much more money. The asset is protected because the value is intrinsic. Content Monetization and a Passion for Podcasting What You Will Learn: How David’s career progressed from entrepreneur to coach and thought leader, and what new opportunities and setbacks he experienced along the way How the challenges David faced taught him important skills and key business lessons, and how he turned a love of podcasting into powerful content monetization Why focusing on helping others and adding value proved the key to David’s career pivot, and how David turned podcasting into his primary career focus How David has been able to monetize his podcast through sponsorships, and how he is rebranding and relaunching his podcast as “The Gonzo Experience” Why David was inspired to write his third and most recent book, “Crash and Learn: Lessons in Business” How in times of crisis such as the global pandemic, business leaders need to look for the opportunities and silver linings and work to avoid falling into negativity Why it is important to look for the lessons and the opportunity to learn when experiencing difficult situations and major setbacks Why David’s book “Crash and Learn” offers an opportunity to take the lessons David learned and apply them to your own challenges How David has learned to cut through the podcast noise and make his show stand out from the other 480,000 domestic podcasts Why the feedback David has received has often stemmed from people’s own internalized fears, and how he has pushed through and doubled down regardless Content Monetization and a Passion for Podcasting Can you turn your passion project into your only career focus? And if you do — will content monetization negatively impact your love for what you create, or can you keep loving what you do even when it becomes your primary job? Four-time returning guest David Mammano joins Onward Nation to discuss how he found his love for podcasting, and how he was able to chart a new career path with podcasting as his main focus — in spite of naysayers who tried to warn him away from it. And — he shares how going through difficult times can be a powerful teacher, if you look for the lessons and silver linings. Learning from the Hard Times David Mammano is no stranger to challenge, having once built a successful business before losing nearly everything. As the host of “The Gonzo Experience” podcast, David has spoken with many other business leaders who have shared their own stories of overcoming challenges and coming out the other side stronger and better positioned for success. These stories became the backbone of his book “Crash and Learn”, where David shows readers that we aren’t defined by our failures but by what lessons we learned from them. David collected the shared wisdom of his podcast guests to demonstrate that retaining optimism through difficult times is a crucial business skill, and that even the most difficult of experiences holds lessons we can draw from them that can only benefit us in the future. Content Monetization as a Business Strategy Speaking of David’s podcast “The Gonzo Experience”, during his interview David shared how he first discovered his passion for podcasting, and why he decided to make the difficult — and scary — decision to double down and make his podcast be his primary business focus. By focusing on helping others and adding value, David was able to attract an appreciative audience. The size of David’s growing audience opened up the opportunity to pursue content monetization through sponsorships to fund his work. Even though David had a number of people telling him that going all-in on podcasting was a mistake, he recognized that their words of caution stemmed not from concern for David but from their own fears. When he shut out the voices that were telling him he couldn’t do it — his own internal voice included — he was able to prove those voices wrong. About David Mammano David Mammano is most recently known for being the host of The Gonzo Experience Entrepreneur Podcast. Although residency training can be comprehensive in many ways, it is vital to find what works for you as a surgeon once you are in practice. Today’s guest, Dr. David Salomon, has done just that, tweaking his anesthesia technique over time to administer it efficiently, in the least resource-heavy way possible. As a prestigious doctor working in Connecticut, David runs a successful private practice. In this episode, David talks about why he has mostly stopped using fentanyl and the results he has seen from making this change. While David has been open to changing his anesthesia technique, he also recognizes that it is not possible to have a one-size-fits-all plan for every patient. He talks about developing your intuition to understand what a patient needs. We also learn more about David’s grafting technique, some of the tweaks he is currently making, and the outcomes so far. We then turn our attention to the practice side of things, where David talks about some of the daily difficulties he faces, the role his assistants play and how he handles their training, and the importance of communicating and managing expectations. Not only is David an excellent surgeon technically, but the care and empathy he extends to his patients really sets him apart. My guest today is Dave Nemetz, the Founder of Bleacher Report, which was one of my favorite media companies as a kid. During his time there, Dave oversaw video, business development, and business operations. He helped grow the audience to more than 40 million monthly unique visitors before selling the company to Turner Broadcasting in 2012. Today, he is the Founder of Inverse and the Executive Vice President of Bustle Digital Group where he leads growth and business strategy for Inverse, Input, and Mic. The conversation topics in this episode fall into three buckets: personal principles, business principles, and the state of the world. We spoke about what it's like to lead your company through a merger, why you can think of media businesses like a supply & demand equation, and one of Dave's favorite quotes from Hunter S. Thompson: “When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.” My favorite part of the interview was hearing about a band called Phish, which Dave has seen in concert more than 200 times. That section kickstarted a whole conversation about the brand-building tradeoff between being welcoming to new fans and serving die-hard fans. ____________________________ Show Notes 2:31 - What inspired David to get started on the Bleacher Report and why he was drawn to it as a project. 6:24 - Why the desire for a different kind of sports coverage took so long to take off and why other companies didn't get into it earlier. 9:06 - Why sites like Bleacher Report find their niche, even with an abundance of content being created all of the time. 12:46 - The implicit versus the explicit side of finding your niche and exploiting it in the market. 15:14 - What David has learned about building a brand and serving your customers from his favorite band, Phish. 20:12 - How businesses can both serve their die-hard fans and not neglect their newcomers. 27:05 - The arrival fallacy and why selling Bleacher Report to Turner wasn't as exciting as it may have looked on the outside. 31:36 - Why David believes that a fervent drive and passion to achieve goals is a double-edged sword. 34:26 - What most people don't know about managing a business during a buyout or a merger and why it was so difficult for David to handle. 42:54 - How the world of advertising in the early 2000s hadn't seemed to change much from the era of "Mad Men". 52:38 - Why the "the geeks won" and why David is super happy about it. 57:13 - How David has oriented his recruitment and retention strategy in his media brands. 1:05:43 - What the "career elevator" is and why David was determined to create it for himself. 1:10:29 - Some of David's favorite quotes, and why one of his core philosophies is to "enjoy your sandwich".

is a massive book that I just finished (and briefly alluded to in my post ). This highly controversial book will explain what really makes you ill and why everything you thought you knew about disease is wrong, based on Voltaire's quote that: "Doctors are men who prescribe medicines of which they know little, to cure diseases of which they know less, in human beings of whom they know nothing." The book reminds me of my recent interview . The authors argue that the conventional approach adopted by most healthcare systems entails the use of ‘medicine’ to treat human disease. The idea, encapsulated by the above quote attributed to Voltaire, the nom de plume of François-Marie Arouet (1694-1778), will no doubt be regarded by most people as inapplicable to 21st century healthcare, especially the system known as modern medicine. The reason that people would consider this idea to no longer be relevant is likely to be based on the assumption that ‘medical science’ has made significant advances since the 18th century and that 21st century doctors therefore possess a thorough, if not quite complete, knowledge of medicines, diseases and the human body. Unfortunately, however, this would be a mistaken assumption; as this book will demonstrate. Dawn Lester and David Parker are my guests on today's show, and they are the authors of . They have backgrounds in the fields of Accountancy and Electrical Engineering, respectively. These fields both require an aptitude for logic, which proved extremely useful for their investigation that has involved more than ten years continuous research to find answers to the question: what really makes people ill? A popular saying, which is often attributed to Albert Einstein, claims that problems cannot be solved by using the same way of thinking that created them. The concept underlying this saying can be extrapolated to indicate that a problem can often be better understood by people outside of the discipline in which it occurs because they are not bound by any dogma or biases inherent within that discipline. The authors’ investigation of why people become ill was conducted from a different perspective from that of the medical establishment; it was therefore free from the dogma and biases inherent within ‘medical science’. This unbiased and logical approach enabled them to follow the evidence with open minds and led them to discover the flaws within the information about illness and disease that is promulgated by the medical establishment. The results of their investigation are revealed within their book, and we explore those results on today's show. During this discussion, you'll discover: -Why an accountant and engineer decided to write a book about health and disease...7:03 -Why David and Dawn's non-medical backgrounds were an asset to their research...14:15 -Why AIDS is rampant in Africa without drugs and antibiotics that cause it...21:10 -What we can learn from the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic today...35:30 -The dangers of chlorine...46:00 -Giant rocks in space related to shifts in world health...49:30 -What causes disease (if it's not a virus)...57:05 -How David and Dawn have altered their diets since writing their book...1:01:00 -How to naturally battle health issues in our internal and external environments...1:05:30 -David's top health tips...1:11:45
My guest today is Eric Jorgenson, a Product Strategist at Zaarly and the author of the Almanack of Naval Ravikant: a guide to wealth and happiness. The book collects and curates Naval's wisdom from Twitter, podcasts, and essays over the past decade. Naval is the founder of Angel List, an angel investor who has invested in companies like Twitter and Uber, and the man behind one of the most popular Twitter accounts in the world. He's known for his thoughts on startups, investing, crypto, wealth, and happiness. This is a conversation about that book. We began the conversation talking about Multiply by Zero Effects, which comes from a short e-book Eric wrote called Career Advice for Uniquely Ambitious People. Then, we moved onto the Almanac. We talked about the differences between Charlie Munger and Naval Ravikant, building specific knowledge, and how operating companies influenced Naval's philosophy of life. At the end, we also jammed on what Naval would say to the owners of Joe's Bar-B-Que, Eric's favorite restaurant in Kansas City. ____________________________ Show Notes 2:28 - Why Eric wrote his new book, and what he regrets not putting in it. 6:15 - What Eric thinks Charlie Munger and Naval Ravikant would disagree on most. 9:34 - Why people like Naval and Munger often give advice as the "Iron Prescription" to solve a problem or learn in a field. 12:13 - Why so many Silicon Valley entrepreneurs were on track to be an academic but then split off. 13:20 - What entrepreneurs can learn from how comedians develop their voice and leverage their following. 15:57 - What knowledge Naval has that is unique only to him in his field. 19:36 - How to maximize leverage and value as an entrepreneur and in your career. 23:26 - What defines a startup, and what Eric has learned from Nivi through his writings on VentureHacks. 25:37 - How Naval uses Twitter as a repository for his ideas and findings and as a forge to test them out. 31:22 - Naval's view of hard work and how it has changed over time. 34:40 - Why it took multiple rereadings of his book and years of observation and experience for Eric to start fully understanding Naval's idea of "productize yourself". 36:11 - What about Eric's own book did he start to resent by the end of creating it. 40:01 - How the message of the book changed as Eric was compressing and cutting the source material down. 43:10 - Why Eric could not have done this book without loving Naval's work as much as he does. 46:19 - What advice Naval would give to Eric's favorite restaurant, Joe's Barbecue. 48:45 - Why David has never forgotten Eric's comment on how "owning a home is a never-ending battle against water" and what he means when he says that. 50:20 - How writing this book gave Eric "more clarity, confidence, and peace through all aspects of life."

We’re told that our goals have to be time-bound. That we have to give ourselves a deadline if we want to achieve. The problem with that is too many of us quit three feet from gold, as the saying goes. But how do you stay committed when a year has gone by and you still don’t have your first multifamily deal? David Acosta was a mentoring student in The Michael Blank Investor Incubator. With no money and no background in investing, David leveraged his mentor, Drew Kniffin, and our Deal Maker’s Mastermind investor network to partner on his first venture, a 220-unit deal orchestrated by Ben Risser’s team. Six months later, David closed on a 48-unit deal in Lexington, KY, this time serving as lead syndicator! On this episode of Apartment Building Investing, David joins me to discuss how he did his first multifamily deal—without any money or previous real estate experience. He explains how having a mentor helped him build confidence and stay committed when his first deal took a few months longer than expected. David Gessner is back for his third appearance on the podcast, and this time we are discussing his brand new book "Leave It As It Is: A Journey Through Theodore Roosevelt's American Wilderness." Most long-time listeners will remember David's past two episodes-- we discussed everything from Edward Abbey and Wallace Stegner to his daily writing rituals and his hand-built coastal writing shack. If you haven't listened to those first two episodes, I encourage you to do so—they are chock-full of wisdom, good humor, and inspiration to fight to conserve the places you love. But first, take a listen to this episode, as it offers some timely insights into this current moment in history. - In this episode, we spend the full hour discussing his new book and digging into the good, the bad, and the ugly of Theodore Roosevelt's legacy. As many of your know, I've read way-too-many TR books, and "Leave It As It Is" offers the most balanced, clear-eyed examination of the man that I've read to date. It's not a strict biography or historical examination of TR, although there's plenty of both within the pages. Rather, it's David's search to capture the best of TR's conservation ethos, to discard the worst, and to use the balance to build a new, holistic model for conservation and environmental justice. David melds together a confluence of ideals that acknowledges the wrongs of the past and sets an equitable, sustainable course for the future. During this time when we are rightfully reexamining many of our country's revered historical figures, "Leave It As It Is" provides a valuable, well-timed deep dive into the complexities of TR and his influence on conservation in the United States. - Although an hour-long interview is no substitute for reading the book, I believe that this conversation will give you a good taste of the fresh and unique perspective that David brings to the well-worn subject of Theodore Roosevelt. We start by discussing the relevance of studying TR now, in the midst of a global pandemic, economic crisis, and social turmoil. David also explains the series of events that led him to begin writing this book, a multi-year project that took him from Bears Ears to Yosemite with many stops in between. We talk in-depth about TR's unacceptable views and treatment of Native Americans, some of the hypocrisies that defined TR's life, and why David chose to stare these uncomfortable facts in the eye rather than just make excuses, as many biographers do. David discusses how TR's idea of the Strenuous Life has helped define his own life, and how writing this book has encouraged David to become more of an activist for specific causes. Hospitals have always been filled with heroes, even before the COVID-19 pandemic set in.A new docu-series on Netflix, “Lenox Hill,” serves as a timely reminder with its compelling look at the pre-coronavirus work done behind the walls of that New York hospital system. He is one of the few cerebral bypass surgeons in the country. In this episode we discuss: 1. Life on set of Lenox Hill 2. Aneurysms - what they are, how to prevent them and how to treat them 3. Are you ready to enter the vortex and escape The Matrix in this week’s episode, a fascinating, inspiring, and sometimes shocking journey with David “Avocado” Wolfe? Over the last few years, I’ve watched as tech giants whittle away at our ability to share our opinions and the truth — and David experienced that authoritarianism firsthand. He was one of the first people in the health and wellness space that I really saw getting targeted, so he’s also been working on ways to share his message without relying on these platforms for longer than almost anyone in the space. And it’s a good thing, too, because we desperately need people who are willing and able to think critically, do some research, and then share with everyone else what the greater medical establishment and mainstream media are seemingly unwilling to talk about or actively covering up. This week’s episode is all about the dangers of Big Tech censorship, how we can stop relying on big tech companies to stay connected with our communities, the increasing medical tyranny being imposed upon our world right now, and — most importantly — how to stay positive, optimistic, blissed-out, and affect change for the better even in the most challenging times. David also busts some misconceptions about viruses and shares how we can use Coated Silver, combined with a huge helping of medicinal mushrooms, to protect our bodies against viral infections, especially during this time. You can use the code LUKE2020 for 10% off Coated Silver and anything else at shop.davidwolfe.com. My hope is that, after listening, you will put on your critical thinking hat, keep an open mind, and do your own research to come to a deeper understanding of the current events that we cover in this episode. 09:20 — David’s journey with Big Tech censorship, how he built a 12M person following on Facebook, and how he’s trying to find ways to circumvent the major platforms to get his message out uncensored Cracking the Facebook code Why there was a concerted effort to reduce David’s reach and how they accomplished that The dogma of scientism What are people so afraid of? Not all scientists are bad The unscientific nature of scientism The cognitive dissonance of the followers of scientism 26:05 — The Great Awakening Are thoughtful use of plant medicines and psychedelics a natural reaction to the feeling of being controlled and lied to? Why David grows his own plant medicines and what he gets out of that experience How plant medicines can transform human consciousness We live in a realm of spirit and soul, not materialism Hate culture: hating people who hate people Trump promised to move away from the establishment but he’s sold himself to them just as much as any other Republican or Democrat The return of clinical psychedelics Why David thinks others should grow their own plant medicines Sacred medicines command respect, not addiction 57:30 — What are the most censored topics on social media? Vaccines are #1 Twitter is the worst The current crisis and the medical tyranny being played out by Big Pharma and the worldwide medical establishment The medical scientism model is not the right model for treating inflammatory diseases, age-related diseases, or viral and infectious diseases 01:05:05 — Wrapping my head around the truth about the coronavirus I don’t know the truth about the coronavirus but I know I’m being lied to The interactions between bacteria and viruses & why the coronavirus couldn’t kill people on its own Medical science still doesn’t understand that much about the human microbiome Due to the way this virus works, they’re not going to be able to develop an effective vaccine The misinformation being circulated about viruses Figuring out what the contagion actually is Why are people so obsessed with injections? 01:17:30 — How to boost your immune system and protect yourself from this or any virus David’s prescription for boosting your immunity and protecting yourself from the contagion: 10 drops of Coated Silver + a massive amount of medicinal mushrooms Use code LUKE2020 for 10% off Coated Silver Four Sigmatic Real Mushrooms Life Cykel We already figured out how to treat infections diseases more effectively with ozone, and the effectiveness is increased when combined with things like Coated Silver Colloidal Silver vs Coated Silver The sacredness of silver People can be helped in hospitals, but they’re not being helped right now 01:31:45 — The EMF nightmare Recent interviews with Dr. Thomas Cowan and Dr. Buttar What’s up with the tests? How the mainstream media likes to belittle EMF concerns by mischaracterizing protests against 5G Why the new 5G antennas are more concerning than older cellular technologies A history of illness near the testing of new EMF technologies The obviousness of chemtrails and geoengineering Why so many still feel cognitive dissonance around this hard-to-face fact 01:56:20 — How to stay positive, optimistic, blissed-out, and affect change for the better (even in the most challenging times) Maintaining joy in the face of deception Our soul’s journey If this was easy, there would be no point in human incarnation Have the best day ever More about this episode.
