#402 - Moses Kagan & Rhett Bennett - ReSeed Partners: Backing the Next Generation of Elite Real Estate Operators

The FORT with Chris Powers

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 27, 2026 84:42

Today I sit down with two of my best friends, Moses Kagan and Rhett Bennett to reflect on how ReSeed has evolved since their first appearance (ep. 278) on the show three years ago.   ReSeed is on a mission to back the next generation of elite real estate operators. We unpacked what has actually happened since launch, how their original vision has held up in practice, and what they have learned by deploying real capital across multiple markets and operators.  We also dug into how they think about underwriting, operator selection, asset management intensity, and navigating a shifting multifamily landscape. It was a candid look at what it really takes to build a disciplined, long term real estate platform in today's market. We discuss: • How ReSeed's original thesis has played out after deploying over $100M across multiple operators • What they look for in emerging operators and how the cohort selection process has evolved • Why discipline and patience mattered during a slow deal environment and when opportunities finally opened up • How they approach underwriting, leverage, and long-duration capital in different markets • The realities of asset management, property management, and execution risk at smaller deal sizes This episode is for investors, operators, and anyone interested in building durable real estate businesses with long term alignment and disciplined capital deployment. I also reference the previous episodes in this four-part series by talking about the science of opposition, some practical strategies, and tackling kids stuck in protection mode, all with the aim of providing a comprehensive understanding of making connection a safe experience. In this episode you'll learn:That providing too much connection can often be overwhelming and feel more like danger than connectionTo titrate connection and supply only as much as the child needs or wantsShowing your child you think of them when are not together like buying their favorite snack, titrates connection by showing that you are thinking of them and you see themResources mentioned in this podcast:Exploring Low Demand Parenting: Shifting Power Dynamics And Nurturing Trust {EP 142}Read the full transcript at: RobynGobbel.com/oppositional4We're kicking off 2026 with a LIVE webinar- Creating Felt Safety! Should You Stay in Your Case Management Job Right Now or Leave? In this podcast episode, I'm not going to tell you “stay” or “leave.” That's not the real problem. The real question is this: if you needed to leave, do you actually know how to leave?A lot of social work professionals believe they're stuck because macro social work job opportunities are limited or because they don't qualify. Neither of those things are true. What's actually happening is that many social workers are stuck in what I call a competence trap. You're good at case management, you become the go-to person, and you're solving problems well beyond your job title, but when it's time to pivot, you only apply to jobs that look familiar. So instead of moving forward, you make lateral moves into case management-adjacent jobs.In this conversation, I break down why career development goes beyond a degree and beyond a resume rewrite. A resume is not a strategy. It's a tool. Without career clarity and a proven process, even highly skilled social work professionals stay stuck guessing their next move.We also talk about what it actually takes to move into macro social work job opportunities, including:Understanding your real career options outside of case management.Learning how to translate your experience for macro social work employers.Building a strategy that matches the current job market.Planning ahead so you're prepared to move when the timing is right. If you're a social work professional who knows you're built for systems-level work but you're tired of guessing your next step, join the waitlist for Cohort 22 of the Micro to Macro Career Accelerator. When you join the waitlist, you'll have the opportunity to schedule a free Get To Know You chat with me so we can talk through what's holding you back and whether this is the right next move for you.Join the waitlist by clicking the link: https://macroandpaid.com/Happy macro career planning,Marthea Pitts, MSW

Although prior ankle or subtalar arthrodesis is thought to affect outcomes at adjacent joints, previous studies have not distinguished between successful and failed prior fusions. This study examines whether prior successful vs failed ipsilateral arthrodesis influences nonunion risk in subsequent ankle or subtalar fusion. The primary objective of this study is to examine nonunion rates after subtalar and ankle arthrodesis in patients with and without prior ipsilateral arthrodesis, and vice versa. In conclusion, our analysis of the TriNetX Research Network database suggests that when the primary ankle or subtalar arthrodesis is successful, performing a subsequent adjacent fusion does not significantly increase the risk of nonunion compared with an isolated fusion. However, failed prior arthrodesis substantially increases nonunion risk, highlighting the importance of distinguishing between successful and failed prior procedures in clinical decision-making. On the third Sunday of Advent (Dec 14), we anticipate celebrating the incarnation with Joy. This year, we're looking at Advent through the lens of the Abrahamic Covenant of Promise. We remember this covenant with an acorn, because it's a big seed. The lid of the acorn represents three key blessings promised to Abraham — a seed (offspring), land, and relationship with God.The point of the acorn represents the point of the covenant, a blessing through Abraham that "all nations will be blessed through you"(Gen 22:18; Gal 3:8, etc.). This is the promise of Christ, the 'reason for the season.' As we dwell on 'Joy,' we reflect on the seed promised to Abraham. Isaac's name literally means "he laughs." God had plans for Abraham's household as a family unit and as a legacy that would usher in THE seed, Jesus Christ, who has us singing Joy to the World to this day and forevermore.Joy is a relational experience that connects us to God and others. The Abrahamic Covenant symbolizes God's promise of this belonging. Throughout the Old Testament, we see the recurring theme of belonging in such refrains as "I will be your God, and you will be My people" (Gen 17:7; Exo 6:7; Deu 29:13; Jer 30:22, etc.).How does this sense of belonging inform our sense of joy? Is there a difference between relational and spiritual joy? How can we meditate on and cultivate more joy during this Advent season?God not only desires a people for Himself but even invites us into a joyful relationship with Him and with each other. May you experience the JOY of belonging to our God this season. Thank you for joining us - father-daughter duo Marcus Warner and Stephanie Warner - on the trail to a deeper walk with God!
