Poly Styrene, otherwise known as Marianne Joan Elliott-Said was a British musician, a poet, singer-songwriter, and a pioneer in punk music. She is the first multiracial woman to lead a punk band, and continually dared herself to evolve as a musician and human being. About the Narrator Celeste Bell spent her earliest years living on a Hare Krishna commune in the Hertfordshire countryside with her mother, Poly Styrene. After completing her degree from Queen Mary University of London, Celeste settled in Madrid where she worked as a teacher and formed the ska-punk band, Debutant Disco. After finishing a Master's degree in Barcelona, Celeste returned to London to work alongside Zoë Howe on Day Glo! The Poly Styrene Story, published by Omnibus Press in 2019. They then joined forces with Paul Sng to make Poly Styrene: I Am a Cliché, a film to accompany the book. Celeste currently manages her mother's artistic estate, co-curating an exhibition alongside Mattie Loyce at the 198 Contemporary Arts and Learning Centre in Brixton. She plans to tour the exhibition internationally after the pandemic and is currently developing a new film project, with the working title of Mr. Gorbachev and the Krishna Kids. Due to the water's contamination, Barclay refuses and, against UNIT instruction, chooses to acknowledges humanity's mistakes instead. Humanity presents a plan to reduce pollution within forty years, which Salt disagrees with. In response, a storm releases all the plastic from the world's waters back onto land. A new war plan named "Severance" is prepared without the knowledge of UNIT. Under the water, the submarine team exit into an environment created for them by the Sea Devils. UNIT colonel Cristofer Ibrahim is assassinated while with Kate on the surface, by an unknown assailant. Once the submarine team are stood in front of the Homo Aqua assembly, Campbell presents the globe as a gift, only to reveal that he is a mole and the globe is a concealed bomb which he detonates. 4 "The Witch of the Waterfall" Dylan Holmes Williams Pete McTighe 14 December 2025 TBD The entire submarine crew, with the exception of Barclay, are killed by the detonation. As Salt safely returns Barclay to land, a deepfake video of her is shown to the public, threatening any human who enters the water. Salt is captured by UNIT, until Barclay rescues her, both immediately becoming fugitives. Shaw is pressured into moving forward with Severance, spearheaded by Gunsberg. Meanwhile, Kate meets Salt's successor, Tide, who informs Downing Street that Salt is considered a traitor for saving a human and is subject to execution. Salt and Barclay go on the run from both UNIT and Severance while Kate struggles to cope with the death of Ibrahim. Barclay contacts his wife Barbara and requests they rendezvous with a vehicle on Lambeth Bridge, with a plan to meet an ally in North Wales and attempt contact with Kate. They are ambushed by UNIT and Severance operatives. When it is revealed that the video of Salt is a deepfake, Kate orders UNIT to fire at Severance just as Salt releases a vocal high-pitched shriek, giving her time to escape into the Thames. In retaliation, Tide threatens to use rust to end humanity. 5 "The End of the War" Dylan Holmes Williams Russell T Davies 21 December 2025 TBD Disagreements continue to occur over the melting ice. Kate hallucinates Colonel Ibrahim. She requests her therapist for an increase of her prescription for paroxetine, but is threatened with being signed off. Kate bribes her in response. Barclay is medically assessed and begins secret nightly visits to Herne Bay, calling for Salt in the sea. Kate presses Prime Minister Shaw for information about the word 'severance', who denies having any knowledge of it. After blocking a signal disruptor used to prevent Salt contacting Barclay, they finally meet. Salt tells Barclay to use the word 'accord', which has ancient meaning. Barclay informs Kate and they plan to disguise the message throughout the oceans. Dead Sea Devils begin to show up at shores and at the surface of lakes, rivers and oceans throughout the world. Kate deduces that this is Severance. At Downing Street it is revealed that the virus is engineered to only affect nine out of every ten Sea Devils. The Sea Devils surrender and inform humanity that they have won the war, but to be wary of water in the future. Kate drives Barclay to the sea, who finds Salt there. Salt gives Barclay gills, and they swim away together. A man drops a plastic bottle, who after refusing to pick it up, Kate threatens with a gun. In the early 1960s, British colonial administrations in East Africa organized the systematic destruction and removal of secret documents from colonies approaching independence. The Colonial Office in London arranged the deposit of these documents in high security facilities, where they remained inaccessible until 2011 following a compensation suit by Kenyan survivors of British colonial rule against the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Curating the Colonial Past: The ‘Migrated Archives' and the Struggle for Kenya's History (Cambridge University Press, 2025) presents the first full length exploration of these 'migrated archives', chronicling the struggle between British attempts to conceal and Kenyan efforts to reveal evidence of the colonial past. Neither displayed nor destroyed, Dr. Riley Linebaugh explores how these records formed an archival limbo in which the British government delayed moral and legal judgement of empire. Yet, these practices did not go unchallenged. Dr. Linebaugh demonstrates how disputes over the 'migrated archives' facilitated the continuation of anticolonial sovereignty struggles beyond independence, struggles which persist into the present. From the end of the American Civil War to the start of World War II, the Protestant missionary movement unintentionally tilled the soil in which American Islamophobia would eventually take root. What ideas did missionaries in Islamic contexts pass on to later generations? How were these ideas connected to centuries-old Protestant discourses about Muslims and gender beginning in the Reformation? And what bearing does this history have on the birth of Islamophobia and on Christian-Muslim dialogue efforts in the US today? In answering these questions, Re-inventing Islam traces the gender constructs that have informed historical Protestant perceptions of Islam, especially in the far-reaching textual, visual, and material influences of the American and British movement for missions to Muslims. This book first considers Protestant discourse about Muslim women and men from the Reformation to the Enlightenment. Then it turns to the colossal archive of literature, images, and cultural objects that missionaries--and particularly missionary women--collected from Islamic contexts and used to inform and motivate their constituents.Anglo-Protestants in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries perpetually re-invented stereotypes about Muslims and used these negative images to achieve particular Protestant theological and political purposes, including missionary aims. They did so when disseminating gender critiques widely to Protestant men, women, and children. Why did they re-invent Islam? Deanna Ferree Womack argues that they did so to reinforce Protestant theological claims, to justify their evangelistic endeavors, to express both humanitarian concern and Eurocentric views of the world, and to support British and American cultural, economic, and military expansion. Simultaneously, however, this same missionary movement educated its constituents about diverse Islamic cultures, in part by providing humanizing images of Islam. Missionaries also formed personal relationships with Muslims that would open pathways toward formal efforts of Christian-Muslim dialogue after the mid-twentieth century. Its tail is over 96 million miles long of dust and gas blown out from the coma surrounding its nucleus. British scientist Edmund Halley's calculations predicted the comet would return, and it did. Halley used Isaac Newton's law of gravity to calculate the orbits of the comets. He concluded that these comets were actually the same comet returning on a long elliptical orbit around the sun. The Comet has been observed throughout history, including near the time of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth.
