Join Aaron Alexander and John Humphrey as they whisk you away to the enchanted world of Disney's 1991 animated masterpiece, Beauty and the Beast. This timeless tale follows bookish Belle (Paige O'Hara, voice of Belle and Broadway star of the Beauty and the Beast stage musical) as she takes her father's place as the Beast's prisoner—only to discover the kind heart beneath his fearsome exterior. Starring Robby Benson as the Beast (celebrated for his lead role in Ice Castles and voice work in classic animated films), and featuring standout performances from Richard White as the arrogant Gaston (voice roles in various Disney projects), Jerry Orbach as the suave Lumière (beloved for Law & Order and Broadway's Chicago), David Ogden Stiers as the prim Cogsworth (renowned for MASH* and Reading Rainbow), and Angela Lansbury as the warm Mrs. Potts (Oscar‑nominated for The Manchurian Candidate and star of Murder, She Wrote). John & Aaron break down every unforgettable moment—from Belle's spirited “Belle (Reprise)” opening and the lavish “Be Our Guest” musical number to the iconic ballroom scene set to “Beauty and the Beast” and the thrilling castle siege that leads to the Beast's redemptive transformation. Jonathan Freeman voiced the Disney villain Jafar in the 1992 animated “Aladdin” movie and he continued to sneer in the subsequent films. Jonathan then went on to originate the role of Jafar in the Broadway production in 2014, where he wielded his cobra staff in thousands of performances, having played the role for nearly eight years. Some of Jonathan's other Broadway credits include She Loves Me (where he was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical), How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, On the Town, the revival of 42nd Street (during which his caricature was drawn for Sardi's restaurant), and The Producers, where he played the role of Roger De Bris. Also for Disney on Broadway, Jonathan played Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast, he originated the role of Grimsby in The Little Mermaid, and was Admiral Boom and the Bank Chairman in Mary Poppins. And that's just some of his theatre work! He has an impressive list of television, movie, and soundtrack credits as well. Scott rubbed the Genie's lamp and wished to talk with him and here he is for your listening pleasure. Enjoy Jonathan Freeman - Part 1! DaBoyz are back after a loooooong hiatus! And for our reintroduction to our worldwide audience (hello Yemen!), we chose Disney's Beauty and the Beast, the groundbreaking animated feature from 1991 and the first animated film to be nominated for the Academy Award® for Best Picture! Join us as we discuss the splendid artwork, the Many Faces of Belle, and Jo Anne Worley's star turn as the Wardrobe (among other attractions, of course). Unfortunately, we also discover that Charles is completely unable to say the name Cogsworth. Belle music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman. Remake Schmemake theme music by JuliusH from Pixabay.
For our one year anniversary (!) episode, we are covering Clayton's favorite film of all time, the 1991 Disney animated classic Beauty and the Beast! Joining us for this very special episode is Brenna Clarke Gray, cohost of the Hazel & Katniss & Harry & Starr podcast! We get into the magical music team of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, toxic masculinity, and the inaccuracy of the Stockholm Syndrome accusations leveled at the film. We also discuss coming to terms with body image through the character of the Beast, Anne of Green Gables comparisons, and the insanity of eating dozens of eggs a day. Some other fun tidbits are Clayton being surprised he didn't become a furry, Beauty and the Beast being a stealth horror movie, and wondering if Lumiere and Cogsworth explored each others bodies. So if you want to hear some people talk about the power of storytelling, you came to the right place! As good ole Cogsworth said ; "If it's not Baroque, don't fix it", so we're back with another Disney restaurant ranking and review. This time we find out how trustworthy the dishes are when they say that the grey stuff is delicious. Today the Twosome is storming the castle for some roast beast, so join as we put polish to silver and sheen to ceramic, today we eat all about "Be Our Guest Restaurant". Will this expensive dining room with cafeteria ambitions treat us as rosey as the magic kingdom, or will its loud and chaotic atmosphere have us joining the townsfolk in chanting" kill the Beast"? you gotta tune in to find out. Belle is a tale as old as time... or at least as old as 1991 when Disney released Beauty and the Beast. This film is an undisputed tribute to the Disney classic even if one of us didn't realize until half-way through, and one of us thinks this version is better! Like Disney, Mamoru Hosoda places music front and center in his rendition of the story but he takes it online for a modern twist. While this is a re-imagining of the story, we still get all of the classic scenes and characters including of course Belle, a Beast, Gaston, and even AI versions of Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts and Chip, and the beloved Dog Ottoman. There's a lot to unpack in this film including child abuse and a dude who just loves canoeing but we get through it and not without a few sing-a-longs!SPOILER ALERT!!!Save this episode for later if you want to experience this show without a high-energy, often heated, very thorough discourse on it's high and low points. Brandon is joined by Matt to take a deep dive into The Sword in the Stone in the first Extended Cut episode of What's A Cogsworth? We're going off the rails and discussing the idea of turning this abomination of a movie into a live action film in an episode that is almost as long as the original movie itself. Buckle up and get in line behind the sugar bowl because this one's a doozy.
Today we discuss one of Snowy's all time favorite movies, 1988's "Waxwork." A group of good-looking-but-really-hard-to peg-their-age-youth are invited to a private showing in a mysterious, new wax museum, but what they find beyond the velvet rope is far more than they bargained for. On this episode, we discuss our horror movie survival probability, watch a confused young man yell into the cosmos, witness the laziest chase scene ever and hear quite possibly, the most important line ever uttered in cinema. There's a bummed out mummy, indoor smokers, an accidental boob (but just the one), Cogsworth who likes to watch, the potential for sexy time in a sealed crypt, we discover what it takes to bring about the voodoo end of the world and is that Michael Bolton? We find out who The Doctor calls Daddy and Snoelle reminds us that freaky deakies need love too. All this and so much more, on this week's Reel Fun Times!
Tyler and guests Helen Joo Lee (@helenjoolee actor, comedian and former CM at Disneyland) and Sarah Price (Chicago based actor, comedian and writer) give you the revamp of BDExDD to talk all things Disney Couples. We get drunk, we place disney couples into Year Book adjacent categories, we are inappropriate--and probs no one is surprised. We cuddle up with our beverages with choice, in honor of all things valentines day, to chat all about which Disney Couples are least likely to succeed, best over all and maybe those that could have done better. Are Lumiere and Cogsworth the most iconic inanimate couple? Only time will tell. Do I tirade again about why I think Ariel is reckless and why Eric could have done better--OBVIOUSLY. So grab a glass of bubbles, your fav chocolates and join us as we talk about nothing and so many inappropriate things all at the same time. Magical music by Eric Backus.
Ken and Gar want you to be their guest this week as they review Disney’s 30th animated feature film, Beauty and the Beast (1991). Childhood friends Caitlin Carey and Mikey Adams form Safe Hands, a folk/pop duo from Boston, MA. Mikey (of pop-punk outfit A Loss For Words) has spent the last 16 years touring in over 30 countries and writing/releasing multiple records on various record labels, most notably Rise Records. In 2015, A Loss For Words decided to gracefully retire as a full-time band, leaving Mikey with so much music written and no band to release it with. He decided to call up Caitlin, with whom the last time he had sung with was 10 years prior in their high school's production of Beauty and the Beast (Cait as Belle, Mikey as Cogsworth). They got together one night and it instantly clicked. In the last couple of years, they have released a few singles sporadically, starting with "Love You Give Away," a beautiful love song. They played their debut live show in June 2019 to a sold-out crowd at The Sinclair in Cambridge, MA. With an 11 song full-length titled 'Highs & Lows' recorded and ready for the world's ears, they are proud and confident with the emotion-evoking art they have created. With influences spanning from The Civil Wars and Ray Lamontagne, to Sara Bareilles, Gabrielle Aplin, Colbie Caillat and John Mayer, they blend intelligent lyrics and catchy melodies seamlessly. These two are bound and poised for a bright future. Of the first single "Honestly", Mikey says, "I wrote this song while riding the high of a new, albeit brief relationship. It had been months since I had felt motivated to pick up a guitar and this just poured out of me. While the flame didn't last, at least I drew inspiration from it for which I am thankful." Regarding the emotional nature of the album, he adds, "This record is a culmination of years of heartache, loss, love and hope. Highs & Lows refers to the extreme of both ends of the emotional spectrum. When I feel, I feel all the way. I hope I've translated my emotions on this record in a relatable way and hope you all enjoy. Just remember if you feel hopeless, you're not and when you feel loved, cherish and remember it. This record is dedicated to my father and is released on his birthday. Most of this record was written in the cemetery he is buried in, where I lived in a car outside his grave for a year. It's all for him." Last week I was lucky enough to chat with the one and only Tony Bancroft about his most recent project, Red Shoes And The Seven Dwarfs -- where he takes on the role as voice director! You probably know this guy from his extensive work at Disney, bringing us characters like Pumbaa, Kronk, Iago, and Cogsworth. And YES, he directed the animated Mulan!! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
We watch “Deep Breath” (Series 8, Episode 1) where Clara and the newly regenerated Doctor travel to Paternoster-Era London for some oddly misguided age shaming. Whilst said thinly "veiled" shaming is occurring, the Doctor reaches out to the homeless, Clara meets a missed connection for brunch, and Cogsworth practically "falls" for the temptation of flesh. All this plus the latest incarnation of the Impossible Girl: Missy! Let’s hope the show runner treats this season’s mystery with a bit more mastery. Hmm?

Over recent podcast episodes I've spoken to a large variety of guests. I've spoken to Community Theatre Royalty. As well as that - Josh Piterman (Eps. #011) is now starring as The Phantom on London’s West End and Bob Corff (Eps.#017) is being featured on the soundtrack of Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Today I am even luckier to have two guests both being featured in the same amazing ‘based on a true story’ musical. They need no introduction but I’ll say this…they were employees in an enchanted castle, turned into household items and helped their Master find love and break a spell. Welcome to Fantastic Fantastix – Lumiere and Cogsworth (aka. The very talented Lachlan O’Brien and Nathan Farrow) to discuss the Top 5 Musical Theatre Dynamic Duos. FANTASTIX BITS IN THE INTERVIEW What were Cogsworth and Lumiere’s first musicals? How did Cogsworth’s Swiss relatives help with his first role? How many clock puns are in this episode? Find out if Cogsworth can cope with an anticlockwise countdown? Which duos got bumped to honourable mentions Have we been pronouncing Les Mis character names incorrectly all along? Who starts a semantics war in this episode? Why Lumiere believes that Leo Bloom is a duo not a sidekick? Need we even ask who they put in the number one position? Why yang and yang does not work? Are all the good duos – ‘criminals’? For the record Cogsworth has never tried a priest! How have they handled the fame after starring in this Disney classic? Which role has Lumiere got his heart set on next? Try not to laugh out loud at Cogsworth’s comfort foods! I dare you. How do Cogsworth and Lumiere describe one another? When you are in Disney's Beauty and the Beast, you really need to 'Consider yourself part of the furniture!' to borrow a lyric from another great musical. Kyle Baugh and Caroline Glissmeyer have done just that, playing a clock (Cogsworth) and a chandelier ... just two in an enormous cast of furnishings and townspeople, heroes and villains. And we squeezed-in an interview with Paige Ford, a member of the crew. It's a fun episode to enjoy, even with some technical hiccups. Watch the interview on video here! Yes, we all know about the tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme, blah blah blah blah blah, but did you know these thirteen things about disney's animated Beauty and the Beast? So be our guest as we seperate man from monster and distract you from this subtly creepy kidnapping tale. Angela Lansbury, the voice of Mrs. Potts, thought that another character would be better suited to sing the ballad "Beauty and the Beast". The director asked her to make at least one recording to have for a backup if nothing else worked, and that one recording ended up in the film. The majority of the sculptures seen in the castle are different earlier versions of the Beast. In the 1930s and again in the 1950s, Walt Disney attempted to adapt Beauty and the Beast (1991) into a feature but could not come up with a suitable treatment, so the project was shelved. It wasn't until The Little Mermaid (1989) became hugely successful that they decided to try it a third time. In Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve's "The Story of Beauty and the Beast," - the original version of the tale - the prince was not turned into a beast for being selfish and unloving, but because he refused to marry his evil fairy godmother. The smoke seen during the transformation at the end is actually real smoke, not animated. It was originally used in The Black Cauldron (1985) and was re-used for Beauty and the Beast. Many scenes were storyboarded but never animated. Those include a scene where Gaston visits the asylum and a scene where the Beast is seen dragging the carcass of an animal he killed. Both were considered too gruesome for the film and the ideas were dropped. However, an animal's skeleton can just barely be seen in the corner shadows of the West Wing. Jackie Chan performed the voice acting and singing for the Beast in the Chinese (Mandarin) dub of the film. By the time Alan Menken and Howard Ashman won an Academy Award for Best Original Song, Ashman had already died. Ashman's longtime romantic partner, Bill Lauch, accepted the award on his behalf. HIDDEN MICKEY: At seperate moments in the film, there are 3 droplets of water, a trio of stones, and three circles that appear in the snow that form the Classic Mickey head. The role of Cogsworth was written specifically with John Cleese in mind but he turned it down. Computer technology was considered for the rooftop fight and the forest chase, but the primitive state of the technology only allowed time to use it for the ballroom scene. The film was previewed at the New York Film Festival in September 1991 in a "Work-In-Progress" format. Approximately 70% of the footage was the final color animation. The other 30% consisted of storyboard reels, rough animation pencil tests, clean-up animation pencil tests, and computer animation tests of the ballroom sequence. According to producer Don Hahn, the audience gave the film a strong, overwhelming standing ovation. In 2001 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Beauty and the Beast, they added an extra seven minutes to the final film which included a scene where the Castle is preparing for the dinner and dance. The Disney productions got all the original animating and drawing group to complete this scene, which is available to watch on the 2001 Disney DVD and VHS, and any further re release onward. Beauty and the Beast (1991) G | 1h 24min | Animation, Family, Fantasy | 22 November 1991 (USA) A prince cursed to spend his days as a hideous monster sets out to regain his humanity by earning a young woman's love. In today’s episode, join Kaitlin and Cassie as they explore why Ewan McGregor’s French accent should have been better in Disney’s live action version of Beauty and the Beast (wasn’t he married to a French woman for like 20 years??). Other musings include Gaston’s fascination with widows, Belle’s possible animal endangerment, and Cogsworth’s clear disdain for his human family. We also search for the answer to the question “Dan Stevens' hair, why?” Enjoy!

So, he was replaced with David Ogden Stiers, who also voiced Ratcliffe's manservant Wiggins. Coincidentally, Stiers was also a cast member of Beauty and the Beast (1991), as the voice of Cogsworth the Clock.Animators working on the film regarded it as being one of the hardest films ever produced by the studio. The complex color schemes, angular shapes, and facial expressions meant that the film was in production for five years. The hard work paid off, however. Pocahontas is now frequently cited as being one of the most beautifully, and realistically, animated characters in the Disney canon, her fluid movements mainly being attributed to rotoscoping.First animated Disney film with interracial romanceReleased on Pocahontas’ 400th birthday. The world premiere was staged at Central Park, New York, on June 10, 1995. They also employed Native American consultants, and had a session with a real shaman. Despite these efforts, prominent Native American activists issued an open letter condemning the film for its historical inaccuracies, and stereotyping of the Indian people. Natalie and Carrie chat with The Tick's Griffin Newman about his meteoric rise from complete unknown to Disney Store employee. Plus, they review some BUMMER ASS Disney news. And some good news, too.
In this episode we talk about minute 65 of Beauty and the Beast: We love the great foley work, especially Cogsworth! Time comes to a standstill for Cogsworth as he learns that Belle is leaving Cogsworth brings soul crushing news to the servants, while we admire the room Chip is once again super sneaky and speedy Beast’s anguished roar Finding Maurice and the change in tone and music Philippe’s responsibilities to his owner
For the third time in 2017 we're heading to France to visit some of Disney's most beloved characters. That's right, even in the direct-to-video sequel, the gang's all here. Belle! Lumiere! Cogsworth! Babette (for like two seconds)! Beast! A Jewish Axe! It's Christmas time at the cursed castle, so its time to dust off the estate's help that are trapped in storage AS WELL as in the form of an inanimate object and spread some holiday cheer. Because if anything will help your beastly master seduce the human woman he's holding prisoner, it's letting her celebrate Christmas. Add in family favourites Tim Curry and Paul Reubens, subtract a hefty chunk from the animation budget, and you've got BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: THE ENCHANTED CHRISTMAS.
Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast by Robin Mckinley First published in 1978 by HarperTeen https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00320G61M/ref=tmm_mmp_new_olp_sr?ie=UTF8&condition=new&qid=&sr= So, that is the first chapter of Beauty. About sixteen pages. I love the author's use of language. Even though the story is told in first person, I hardly notice it. The story continues with the family selling off their mansion in the city, traveling to the country and setting up shop on the edge of an enchanted forest. It takes a few twists but eventually Beauty ends up in the magical castle, alone with the fright some beast. When Disney's Beauty and the Beast was announced, I looked forward to it with the hope that it would have the same charm as I found in this book. I think it fell way short. Even with Lumier, Cogsworth and Gaston (Or maybe because of...). In the movie, I never felt an affection for the beast as I did in reading this book. Anyway. I hope you have a Merry Christmas or other celebration of choice. I'm going to go read Beauty for the eleventh time. Thanks for listening and we'll see you next week.
In this episode we talk about minute 55 of Beauty and the Beast: We realize that this is the last night of the movie! The rest of the film happens during this one night. Further discussion on possible timelines for the story Lumiere and Cogsworth messing with each other We talk about the song “Human Again” Marriage, divorce, and Lumiere in the 1700s We meet some cosmetic characters Knickknacks, Whatnot's, and Hummels
In this episode we talk about minute 54 of Beauty and the Beast: Janay and Bobby start in on the special edition-added-back-in footage, including the song “Humans Again” Belle and Beast finally get some alone time and we wonder if Belle knows that the servants are actually humans The work it took to add “Humans Again” back into the original film Janay laments the treatment of Cogsworth in this footage Discussion of the bonus servants

In Ep #33 Tony and Eddie talk about the live action Disney remake of Beauty and the Beast (2017). They love Lafou. They love Cogsworth. They love...well maybe they love this movie. As big fans of the original animated classic, in this episode you'll hear if they think it was just as good, maybe better...? If you're interested in finding out, Be Our Guest and listen to find out. If you haven’t had a chance in the last 104 years to check out the Mountain Play, now’s as good a time as any. This year brings an enjoyable production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast to the Cushing Memorial Amphitheater atop Mt. Tamalpais and while it’s a trek to get there, it’s a trek worth taking. Based on a French fairytale (which is the source of innumerable film, television, and stage adaptations) and adapted by Disney into a highly successful animated film in 1991, it premiered on Broadway in 1994 to great commercial - if not critical - success and was the first of what now seems to be an endless stream of Disney musicals. The tale as old as time is of a romantic triangle consisting of Belle (Chelsea Holifield), an unwanted suitor and local him-bo (Jeff Weisen) and a reclusive prince/beast (Daniel Barrington Rubio). The prince, cursed to be a beast until he learns to love and be loved in return, lives a solitary life in his castle with his only companions being his staff who, apparently also cursed, happen to be transmogrifying into various inanimate household objects. Circumstances bring the lovely Belle to him and it becomes a race against time to beat the curse’s final outcome – permanent beastliness. If you know the film, you know the show. All the characters are here albeit with some slight modifications. The eight songs from the film by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman are joined by six additional numbers by Menken and Tim Rice. The action takes place in either the castle or a small village with a three-part revolving stage facilitating a quick change between the two. We’re talking a stage adaptation of a cartoon here, folks, so there isn’t a lot of depth to be found. The leads, as written, are pretty bland but Holifield and Barrington Rubio’s strong vocal performances make up for what their characters lack. Disney villains often provide actors with the most memorable roles and Jeff Weisen is a lot of fun as the strutting blowhard Gaston. You almost, almost feel bad for him at his ‘exit’. The show’s most entertaining moments are provided by the supporting cast with an assist by costumer Michelle Navarre-Huff. Buzz Halsing’s ‘Cogsworth’, Zachary Isen’s ‘Lumiere’, Samantha Cooper’s ‘Babbette’, Jennifer Boesing’s ‘Mrs. Potts’ and Jenny Matteucci’s ‘Madame de la Grande Bouche’ bring color, energy and humor to every scene they’re in, culminating in the terrific ensemble number “Be Our Guest”. Director Jay Manley meets most of the challenges provided with staging a large-scale musical in the cavernous 4,000 seat amphitheater. The nuance and color that the element of lighting can provide is sorely missed from this production but what are you going to do when your only source is the sun? David Möschler directs a 22-piece orchestra who deliver but no amount of amplification can reproduce the sound and sense of an orchestra filling a theater. These sacrifices are somewhat offset by the magnificent surroundings of Mt. Tamalpais State Park Attending The Mountain Play production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast requires a commitment of time and effort well in excess of a usual theatre-going venture. It can involve a bus trip, hiking, picnicking, and the risk of sunburn and poison oak. The reward is a pleasant afternoon of joyous, family-friendly theatre. Be their guest. The Mountain Play’s Disney’s Beauty and the Beast plays at Mt. Tamalpais State Park’s Cushing Memorial Amphitheatre Sunday afternoons through June 18. For important information about parking, transportation and the venue, go to mountainplay.org

Y'all remember those sweet, sweet beast lips? All red and full and such? We remember. Important questions: What was Gaston's childhood like? How long has the curse been upon the town? Would Ghostbusters have been a better received movie if it had a different name? Keep an ear out for Andy trying to make a point about remakes while Tony, bafflingly, keeps interrupting him for no reason. Our outro music is Theme from Penguins on Parade by Lee Rosevere. Find us on twitter! Andy is @royalty_valens Tony is @theaterbats
We continue to talk Beauty and the Beast, but go off on some of our patented Direct to Video tangents! So there's a little more breathing room. Important questions: What is the point of a live action remake? Is there originality in Hollywood? How do movies treat or mistreat gay people? Keep an ear out for Tony loudly hating Cinderella while Andy tries to remember Sulu's name. Our outro music is Theme from Penguins on Parade by Lee Rosevere. Find us on twitter! Some day, in some far off time and place, we will finally stop talking about Beauty and the Beast. In the meantime, why don't we talk about witches, abusive fathers, and new songs? Eh? Eh? Yeah, let's do that. Important questions: Did Agatha change the rules? Is Beast the protagonist of this movie? When will Andy and Tony talk about something else? (Not for like another hour. There, that one's free.) Keep an ear out for Tony referencing Calvin and Hobbes again while Andy rags on Agatha's commitment. Our outro music is Theme from Penguins on Parade by Lee Rosevere. It is with both excitement and pain that we present you with this, our magnum opus. We were doomed to peak so early. What started as a way to coincide our podcast release with the release of the new Beauty and the Beast live action movie became so much more. It became six hours of our lives. Plus time for editing. There's a lot of podcast in this one. Pace yourself. Important questions: What various psychological tortures has the beast fallen prey to? Why is Gaston the way he is? Is the enchantress supposed to be good? Special bonus question: How far can Tim Curry carry a movie on his own? Keep an ear out for Tony realizing with horror that Lefou is a person while Andy discovers the finer points of the enchantress's cruelty. Yes, we all know about the tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme, blah blah blah blah blah, but did you know these thirteen things about disney's animated Beauty and the Beast? So be our guest as we seperate man from monster and distract you from this subtly creepy kidnapping tale. 13. Angela Lansbury, the voice of Mrs. Potts, thought that another character would be better suited to sing the ballad "Beauty and the Beast". The director asked her to make at least one recording to have for a backup if nothing else worked, and that one recording ended up in the film. 12. The majority of the sculptures seen in the castle are different earlier versions of the Beast. 11. 10. In Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve's "The Story of Beauty and the Beast," - the original version of the tale - the prince was not turned into a beast for being selfish and unloving, but because he refused to marry his evil fairy godmother. 9. The smoke seen during the transformation at the end is actually real smoke, not animated. It was originally used in The Black Cauldron (1985) and was re-used for Beauty and the Beast. 8. 7. Jackie Chan performed the voice acting and singing for the Beast in the Chinese (Mandarin) dub of the film. 6. By the time Alan Menken and Howard Ashman won an Academy Award for Best Original Song, Ashman had already died. Ashman's longtime romantic partner, Bill Lauch, accepted the award on his behalf. 5. HIDDEN MICKEY: At seperate moments in the film, there are 3 droplets of water, a trio of stones, and three circles that appear in the snow that form the Classic Mickey head. 4. The role of Cogsworth was written specifically with John Cleese in mind but he turned it down. 3. Computer technology was considered for the rooftop fight and the forest chase, but the primitive state of the technology only allowed time to use it for the ballroom scene. 2. 1.
