On this episode of Oh, That's Random Podcast, Nerdy G sits down with upcoming gaming and lifestyle creator Vontae, aka VZA The Ruler, for a conversation about what it's really like trying to build something from the ground up.We talk about where Vontae's love for gaming started, Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat, finding his identity, building confidence, dealing with people who don't have the same hunger, staying consistent when the views aren't there, and learning to stop comparing your Chapter 1 to somebody else's Chapter 20.Vontae also breaks down his vision of combining gaming, lifestyle, health and personal growth into his content while challenging some of the stereotypes surrounding gamers. Then Nerdy G shares lessons from his own journey building Nerdy's Umbrella—including losing collaborators, building a team, learning the business side of content creation, experimenting with production, and figuring out how to turn content into an actual brand. This isn't a conversation from two people pretending the journey is easy. It's a conversation about BUILDING while you're still building. If you're sitting on an idea because nobody knows your name yet… this episode might be the one you needed.
It's time for an Adult Swim classic, oldheads - we watched the first three episodes of an anime animated by Sunrise about cool criminals in space that is NOT Cowboy Bebop. It's Outlaw Star. We also talk about Big Mouth Billy Bass, Adult Swim's original lineup, Nanook of the North, obscure Street Fighter characters, and the decline of electronics stores. | Follow us on Apple Podcasts | Support us on Patreon | Follow us on BlueSky | We're on Threads/Instagram | Subscribe to us on YouTube | Join the fan Discord

In 1993, Hollywood took the bright colours, bouncing rhythms and cheerful nonsense of Super Mario Bros. and transformed them into a wet cyberpunk dystopia filled with fungus, humanoid dinosaurs and Dennis Hopper. It was only the beginning. For the next three decades, video game adaptations repeatedly reproduced the names, costumes, monsters and locations that players recognised, while struggling to understand the experience that made those games matter. Street Fighter tried to turn a character-select screen into a military action film. Resident Evil replaced vulnerability with superhuman spectacle. Assassin's Creed recreated the rooftops but kept dragging audiences back into rooms where people explained genetic memory. In this episode of Geekstorians, Dave explores why video games presented Hollywood with an adaptation problem unlike books, comics or television. Games are not only stories or worlds. They are things players do, built around movement, timing, failure, discovery and the relationship between a player's hands and a responsive world. From Mortal Kombat, Tomb Raider and Doom to Detective Pikachu, Sonic and the animated Super Mario Bros. Movie, the industry slowly began to stop apologising for the source material. Then television pushed the breakthrough further, using Castlevania, Arcane, Twisted Metal, The Last of Us and Fallout to find new ways of replacing the controller without losing the feeling behind it.Video game movies were never cursed.Hollywood was simply using the wrong controls...Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/geektown. Christian from Imaginary Game Studios joins Ben for a conversation involving a very important aspect of video game promoting, advertising, and audience connections. To start it all off with a proverbial BANG, Ben talks about a couple of games that he has been playing recently, Monday Syndrome and RACCOIN, and Christian professes his undying love for Japanese coin-pusher machines. Next, the fellows discuss the recently announced DLSS 5 technology, how the “message” was received by gamers and developers, and the resulting spin from Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang. FINALLY… they explore the topic word as it relates to pop culture, Christian's chosen line of work, censorship, various forms of art, advertising in a global economy, inducing laughter, and the unique games of SUDA51 and Grasshopper Manufacture. *** 00:00:20 - Various Gabbos, Schrödinger's coming soon, early access, and NOT Constantinople 00:03:33 - Palpable excitement, props for an AI disclosure, and Ben didn't enjoy his Mondays 00:06:41 - Perk and power tradeoff, Clippy's replacement, game design love, and coin-pushing 00:11:39 - Better arcades in Japan, games for parents, falling pennies, and pushing marbles 00:17:02 - Cold hard cash, towers of coins, DLSS 5 technology, and the stuff of nightmares 00:22:23 - Addressing the wrong audience, an ill-advised CEO response, and a pair of TLDRs 00:30:37 - Excellent timing, Christian invents a definition, unknown origin, and spot reduction 00:35:02 - ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US, churning SIMS, and localization services 00:39:56 - The unspoken cost, censorship, dubs and subs, and anime and manga parallels 00:45:51 - Pixar localizations, Wuxia genre fails, missing tutorials, vigor, energy, spirits, and chi 00:50:59 - The biggest Dynasty Warriors fan, 1 vs.1000 soaps, and the California pizza chicken 00:54:05 - Eating your digits, a resurrection elixir, no movement, touching birds, and sucking 00:56:41 - Pondering purpose, art as a product, Ben's job and the Street Fighter name swap 01:00:51 - Everyone's favorite Darkstalkers character, Ben's Dreamcast tip, and Scott Pilgrim 01:05:00 - The games of Goichi Suda, playing a patchwork quilt, and Shadows of the Damned 01:10:10 - Romeo is a Dead Man, growing bastards, and can game mechanics be localized? 01:14:22 - Ben always knew, the result of heating up water, and localizing in semaphore *** Follow Two Vague on… Our website: https://www.twovaguepodcast.com On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/two_vague_podcast On YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@twovaguepodcast On Substack: https://twovaguepodcast.substack.com/ On Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/twovaguepodcast.com For show appearance and other inquiries, contact us at: twovaguepodcast@gmail.com For all of your 2VP merch, check out the Partly Robot Industries store at TEEPUBLIC! https://www.teepublic.com/user/partly-robot-industries Follow Andrew / Partly Robot Industries on… His website: https://partlyrobot.com/ On Instagram: https://instagram.com/partlyrobot On TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@partlyrobot On Substack: https://partlyrobot.substack.com/ On Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/partlyrobot.com On Ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/partlyrobot On Microcosm Publishing: https://microcosmpublishing.com/catalog/artist/andrew-coltrin On Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/partlyrobot And his TREE o' LINKS: http://linktr.ee/partlyrobot Follow all the shenanigans of Imaginary Game Studios here… On their website: https://www.imaginarygamestudios.com/ On their Discord: https://discord.gg/YyDD7ECtdJ On their YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@caxtnova Check out the Rogue Climber trailer here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZbTXcHa3is Rogue Climber on Steam - https://store.steampowered.com/app/2673440/Rogue_Climber/ *** References, Links, and Tags For more information about Monday Syndrome, developed by hyesmo and published by Brightika, Inc, and Blackburne Games Studio FZ LLC... https://hyesmo.com/ https://brightika.com/ https://www.blackburnegames.com/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/3305970/Monday_Syndrome/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfPOcZ0okdU For more information about RACCOIN: Coin Pusher Roguelike, developed by Doraccoon and published by Playstack https://www.playraccoin.com/ https://www.playstack.com/games/raccoin/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3eRZVM6o6k #Podbean #DIYPodcast #ApplePodcast #VideoGames #Trivia #Comedy #Talkshow #2VP #TwoVaguePodcast #PodernFamily #InterviewShow #GamersofThreads #Gamer #PartlyRobot #PartlyRobotIndustries #TeePublic #MicrocosmPublishing #NerdEmergencie #RogueClimber #ImaginaryGameStudios #MondaySyndrome #hyesmo #BlackburneGamesStudio #Raccoin #Doraccoon #Playstack

Welcome back to the **Chino & Homeboy Podcast** for another thoroughly inappropriate Sacrilegious Sunday. This episode begins with Donald Trump allegedly committing chemical warfare against everyone standing behind him, then takes a sharp turn into lesbian nightlife, stud economics, dating expectations, ankle monitors, imaginary penis adjustments, and the eternal question: **Who pays when everybody involved is the “man”?**From there, we wade into the internet debate over straight women refusing to date bisexual men, whether personal sexual preferences automatically qualify as “phobic,” lesbian attitudes toward bisexual women, pansexual relationship boundaries, and why—according to this podcast—everybody eventually ends up a little gay. Then the show gets considerably more serious. We examine organizations claiming to monitor online speech, criticism of Israel, employment blacklists, cooperation with law enforcement, the difference between criticizing a government and attacking a people, freedom of speech, flag burning, and America's increasingly strange relationship with its supposed allies. The second half becomes a full-scale argument over DUI laws, drunk-driving statistics, field sobriety tests, questionable arrests, police incentives, civil asset forfeiture, planted evidence, inadequate training, and whether enforcement has become a profitable racket that rewards officers for treating ordinary citizens like criminals. And yes—the promised penis content finally arrives. We discuss viral testicle stories, the legendary piece of equipment that allegedly retired a porn performer, giant nude models, traumatic art classes, condom politics in pornography, and the physical limitations of the human body.We close with Deadpool stories involving heroic teenagers, questionable snake videos, fake military footage, fallen artists, the dangers of nature, and an unexpectedly nerdy breakdown of *He-Man*, *Mortal Kombat*, *Street Fighter*, and Dan Hibiki. This episode is wildly NSFW and should not be played near children, coworkers, clergy, commanding officers, or anyone with a functioning human-resources department.
We're back again! On this episode we discuss dealing with the fallout of a viral moment and the reality of being removed from the dating scene since 2013. This Week on the Toy Power Podcast; even though we are Celebrating our 10th Year of Podcasting; we unfortunately exhausted all our energy on the Previous SDCC Reveals & Announcements Ep. So we are giving you a ReIssue episode instead from the Vault. (Originally Posted as Ep #143 - from October 2019). Original blurb: It’s a very special ep as we’re joined by not one, but two of favourite guests in Davey Damaged and Scotty so that’s right – it’s a Homer episode! Trent takes us through a vintage retrospective look at The Addams family by Playmates. Perfectly timed for Halloween, we wonder what could have been with this short-lived line and look to the future of the franchise as a new movie approaches. What characters didn’t get made, which ones make the camera glow and where does MC Hammer fit into it all? We make the jump to Show and Tell as Davey tries to trump us all with a purchase so large, we doubt it will actually fit in his toy room! There’s some DC, MOTU and even Final Fantasy options to choose from. Frank gives a lovely tribute showing that sometimes, the value of a toy; lays in more than its sticker price. Then it’s Quiz time and with Davey onboard, anything is possible. To say this episode goes off the rails is putting it mildly – but on the plus side we learnt that Trent can’t hold his liquor, Ben thinks photos record sound, Space Jam was an event and Rick Moranis is Trent’s muse. So hold on for this crazy ride that also serves as a farewell for one of the team…Support the show: http://patreon.com/toypowerpodcastSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Now get on the sticks and choose your favorite character because we're covering 1994's Street Fighter! We can't get enough of Raul Julia's iconic performance in this movie. Cool moves, well placed comedy, and larger than life characters make for a fun time! That's not to say there aren't a few strikes against this classic…we're looking at you Blanka. But it's not enough to bring our spirits down. Now do you wanna go home, or do you wanna go with us!? Don't just watch Action, B-Action!!!
STREET FIGHTER & RAMAYANA TRAILER REACTIONS!! Jason Momoa's Blanka brings electric chaos before Ranbir Kapoor and Yash face off in an epic IMAX take on the Ramayana! Aaron Alexander & Andrew Gordon react to new footage from Street Fighter and the official Ramayana: Part 1 trailer. Street Fighter, directed by Kitao Sakurai, stars Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Jason Momoa as Blanka, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, and Roman Reigns as Akuma. The footage highlights Blanka's electric powers, claws, and a brutal arena fight with Ryu. Ramayana: Part 1, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. With music by Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman and VFX by DNEG, the trailer showcases massive battles, mythic creatures, emotional stakes, and stunning IMAX visuals. After Street Fighter, Aaron and Andrew break down the creative direction of Blanka's design and how the film balances darker, more intense elements with a lighter, more playful tone. They discuss Momoa's portrayal, the energy of the action, the visual effects, and how characters like M. Bison and Ryu are being adapted for the big screen, along with speculation about iconic moves and overall tone. Ramayana, on the other hand, stands out for its scale and cinematic ambition. Both highlight its emotional storytelling, sweeping visuals, and mythic scope, with comparisons to other large-scale fantasy epics and interest in the central conflict between Rama and Ravana. The trailer's music, action, and IMAX presentation are also key talking points, along with how effectively it introduces the story to a wider audience. 1994's Street Fighter is a perfect example of the lawless ass 90s. Like other video game movies of the era, it ignores all the things that made its inspiration great. Unlike many of its contemporaries, though, Street Fighter overcomes its terrible script, weak acting, poor casting, and ludicrous plot. That is thanks in large part to the late and certainly great Raul Julia as villainous M. Bison. In his final film role, it's safe to say he understood the assignment. Now, sit back, harness your psycho power with a Dual Torpedo DIPA from Sierra Nevada, and blow up that invisible boat! The Thunderous Wizard, Chumpzilla, and Bling Blake are going to kick Bison's ass so hard that the next Bison wannabe is going to feel it! This Week's Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – The ultimate battle! Lingering Questions – There's no denying this movie is bad, but is it so bad that it's actually good? (30:35) The "Good Morning, Shadaloo" Trivia Challenge – The Thunderous Wizard challenges the field to trivia about the movie. (51:11) Recommendations – We offer our picks for the week and next up: We continue our Insert Coin Flops series with Grandma's Boy! In Dumb Ass News, a whole street fight between two strangers turned out to be a big mistake. Chaz and AJ had hilarious audio of the argument, the punch and the apology. (0:00) Clearly, there needs to be an establishment of basic concert ettiquette. Chaz and AJ asked the Tribe to call in their suggestions, after Noah Kahan fans have repeatedly seen people urinating (or worse) in their seats instead of going to the bathroom. (4:27) Joe Soper from Mohegan Sun was on the phone with Chaz and AJ to talk about the lineup for their 30th anniversary, from Foo Fighters and Alanis Morrissette, to Metallica and Rush. Plus, Kevin Gagliard was in studio from Pepe's Pizzeria to talk about next weekend's CT Pizza and Brewfest. (22:31)Anyone else miss water beds? Chaz and AJ welcomed Commander Keith in studio for his list of the Top 5 things he's hoping make a comeback. (31:04)

The Last Starfighter is wish fulfillment the movie. A teenager hoping for bigger things gets called to action because of his sick arcade skills. That call is to become a starfighter in the coming war with the treacherous Xur. It's a charming, silly little film that definitely sought to capitalize on moviegoer's continued love of the Star Wars franchise. In spite of horrid effects and a cornball script, it mostly works. And it has become an 80s cult classic. That nostalgic love, though, was not enough to earn it a sequel — an idea that has been floating somewhere in the vacuous space of development hell for a couple decades. Now, sit back, prepare to fight the Ko-Dan Armada with an Imperial Luau Krunkles from Terrapin Beer Co., and watch out for shape-shifting assassins! The Thunderous Wizard, Chumpzilla, and Bling Blake are desperate to be recruited to the Star League! This Week's Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – For every Earthling who's ever dreamed of adventures beyond the stars, comes the astonishing story of one who made it! Lingering Questions – Does the dated CGI cause The Last Starfighter to crash and burn? (33:51) The "I Need an Ear Job" Trivia Challenge – Chumpzilla challenges the field to trivia about the movie. (52:09) Recommendations – We offer our picks for the week and next up: We continue our Insert Coin Flops series with 1994's Street Fighter! It's been perhaps the darkest few weeks for video games in either of our lifetimes, so we're back to discuss the ongoing Video Game Apocalypse, from Xbox executing thousands of layoffs and divesting themselves of a half-dozen studios, to PlayStation ending physical media on their consoles even as they close the digital storefront on legacy systems, to ongoing price hikes making the entire hobby unaffordable for everyone. It's really never been this bad, but at least we can commiserate about it together! And after that, this episode has plenty of fun, too, as Sean talks about the latest Ultraman shows he's seen and ongoing adventures in Super Robot Wars Y, while Jonathan shares his experiences falling down the Street Fighter 6 rabbit hole and watching all the James Bond movies after playing 007: First Light. And we've got a great Odyssey-inspired Monthly Ten for you about unlikely adaptation ideas for pre-modern literature. Enjoy! We go live on Facebook to celegrate anotehr milestone episode and without burying the lead, there is chaos. And maybe a Lord of Destruction or two. We go card-based for this ep and unboxed a sealed pack of Batman Returns cards from 1992. Can we get the full set? Who has the best costume? Who had the best comment? This Week on the Toy Power Podcast; we have Special Guest: Sean in the Studio to chat all things DC related, with a big focus on Batman & the wider Justice League themselves. Kicking things off, we have our routine Get-To-Know-You questions. Then with a Fantastic recent visit to see Sean's Awesome Collection in person; we highlight a few things to chat towards; including the very controversial & quickly banned Jarts Toy from the early 1960's. Then we get into a discussion about Batman. Everything from Batman 66' & why that particular TV Run is so special to Sean. Highlights about the Batmobile & it's Origins; all the way covering the dynamic characters in the Show! We next pivot across to the Ground-Breaking Toy-line that was Kenner Super Powers. With Sean's expertise about the line, the variants & waxing on just why this particular Toyline out-shines many other interpretations of Super Heroes in Toy form. Then backing up that Super Powers discussion; we entertain another segment of The Team! This round focusing purely on the Heroes from the Kenner Super Powers Run! (with a purpose adjustment to the line-up, so that some certain characters don't get all the Votes!) - Who would you have picked?? Enjoy this fun filled ep! In this episode we promote Sean's good friend Glenn Pluck - whom crates Fantastic Acrylic Cases for your Toys & Collectables.
