Marta Milans joins Nerdtropolis Mayor Sean Tajipour on Reel Insights to talk about M.I.A., Peacock's crime thriller from Ozark creator Bill Dubuque. In this conversation, Milans breaks down playing Caroline, a powerful and ruthless woman who moves through the show with confidence, control and a clear end goal.Milans opens up about what excited her most about stepping into Caroline's world, why the character's energy is so dangerous, and the line that helped her understand exactly who Caroline is. She also talks about the show's Miami setting, its cartel drama, family secrets, betrayal, loyalty and the powerful women at the center of the story. The conversation also dives into Caroline's wardrobe and how fashion helped shape the character's power. Milans discusses working with costume designer Olivia Miles, the sharp suits, aggressive lines, Alexander McQueen pieces, Tom Ford shoes, Gucci looks and the way Caroline uses style to command every room without needing to fit old stereotypes.Milans also reflects on her time in the Shazam! franchise as Mama Rosa, what she learned from working on massive superhero sets, and how that warm character compares to the darker, more ruthless world of M.I.A.

Disclaimer: Kapitalanlagen bergen Risiken. We enter the home stretch of the pre-Gunn DCU with Shazam: Fury of the Gods, a confused and inert mess of glop, nonsense and awful dialogue anchored by the unbearable anti-charisma of future Jesuslop washup Zachary Levi. Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu are wasted. Rachel Zegler needs a new agent; Diedrich Bader gets killed and nobody seems to notice; and the barely-explored villain scheme is stolen, inexplicably, from The Simpsons Movie. Needless to say, none of the teasers for future 'Shazam' installments will be paying off. Ever. The Michael Jackson biopic has hit the big screen — Dori wants scandal, Paulo just wants to know who plays Bubbles. One thing we must know by now is that when you say Michael Jackson's name three times in a row, you'll summon impersonator extraordinaire Corey Feldman — with his trusty sheer shirt allowing the world to see his disappointingly tiny nipples. That's not the only thing he has in common with Paulo — they both share the middle-aged problem of no longer being able to dance. We also discover that Little Golden Books have been publishing biographies about some of our favourite 80s-ites. We get that Jim Henson might be interesting for kids as the father of the Muppets, but what child has ever wanted a bed time story about Bruce Springsteen?Paulo reviews one of the most angsty movies of the 80s, Dori reminds us that no matter what you do, Madonna did it first, and “Two 80s Truths and a Lie” tugs at the Hulkster's heartstrings.Jump To:Michael Jackson Biopic "Michael" (00:02:12): https://www.eonline.com/news/1431238/michael-jackson-movie-controversy-what-paris-jackson-more-family-has-said?utm_source=chatgpt.comCorey Feldman's Michael Jackson Impersonation (00:09:18): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bWF4Tm_3SQLittle Golden Book Biographies (00:20:58): https://littlegoldenbooks.com/biographiesEddie and the Cruisers (00:27:29): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nXj8RkP7xQMadonna at Coachella (00:39:15): https://www.tiktok.com/@bitajoon26/video/7630563583402773791?_r=1&_t=ZS-95wUDLOe7KjTwo 80s Truths and a Lie: Hulk Hogan Edition (00:48:39)Hulkster in Heaven: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIoUkoaYPj8Pastmania: https://web.facebook.com/share/p/1JU1JZAGtV/#80s pop culture, #That 80s Show, #Michael Jackson biopic, #Corey Feldman, #Alien Ant Farm, #nostalgia, #early email services, #Hotmail, #Yahoo, #music biopics, #Bohemian Rhapsody, #Rocketman, #streaming music, #Michael Jackson music surge, #Shazam searches, #Little Golden Books biographies, #Prince, #Willie Nelson, # Betty White, # Jim Hensons, # Bruce Springsteen, #Eddie and the Cruisers, #Madonna Coachella performance, #Sabrin Carpenter, #Hulk Hogan documentary, #80s music, #celebrities, #80s movies, #pop culture discussions, #TikTok trends, #music resurgence, #iconic performances, #80s icons, #childhood memories, #entertainment news, #celebrity gossip.
Hollywood Is Broken—And That's Why Zachary Levi Is Building Something New Actor, entrepreneur, and faith-driven creator Zachary Levi (Chuck, Shazam!) sits down with Justin Forman at SXSW to pull back the curtain on Hollywood, authentic storytelling, and his bold new venture: Wyldwood—an independent studio and intentional community designed to fix what's broken in entertainment and in the way we live. From the untold true story of Sarah Rector—a 10-year-old Black girl in early 1900s Tulsa who prayed over her land, struck oil, and became the richest woman in America—to the AI flood rising around us, Zachary shares why he believes faith-driven creators are called to build arks, not abandon ship. Key Topics • Sarah's Oil: The remarkable true story of a 10-year-old girl whose childlike faith turned 160 acres into the largest pure oil reserve in North America • Why excellent storytelling—not preaching—is how faith gets metabolized by culture • Zachary's faith journey: from near-suicidal darkness eight years ago to a deeper, wider, more grace-filled walk with God • The identity trap: what acting taught him about separating your work from your worth • Wyldwood: building a modern-day Hershey, Pennsylvania for artists—intentional community, redemptive storytelling, and an answer to AI • Why AI is a biblical flood—and why that's the reason to build, not retreat Notable Quotes "When I started working in Hollywood and I got my first look behind the curtain and I saw how all the sausage was made, I was heartbroken because I care too much about other human beings and excellence to find myself working in an industry that doesn't care about either of those things." — Zachary Levi "There is a way to get messaging in your art that is not proselytizing. There's a way. And that is the way." — Zachary Levi "A biblical flood is coming. It's not rain, it is technology. And the ground is already permeating. The water is rising." — Zachary Levi
Mythology never really went away… it just started showing up in comic books. In this Moving Panels: One Shot, Laramy is joined by his wife Bethany to explore the deep connections between ancient mythology and modern superheroes. From characters pulled straight from legend like Thor and Hercules, to myth-inspired heroes like Moon Knight, Wonder Woman, Shazam, Aquaman, and Black Panther, this episode dives into how these stories are built on the foundations of gods, archetypes, and timeless themes. They also discuss how mythology has shaped even the most iconic heroes like Superman, the role of the Hero's Journey, and why these stories continue to resonate across generations. Are comic books just inspired by mythology… or are they our modern mythology?Let's have a nerdy little conversation.

Today someone called in asking us and the audience to help identify a song purely on a hum alone. Edited down it turned into a great bit for the show, for the podcast, and for replays. HOWEVER, completely live with no edits like most of the show usually is... was just wayyy too long and chaotic for the everyday episode of our Full Show Podcast. Here you will get the sweepers, pauses, and promotions that happened in the middle of the 7 & 8 O clock hour this morning as this bit entirely took over the show and our other plans. We even left in Minute To Win It that didn't make it onto the Full Show Podcast because she cursed and we had to take her off the line. The beauty of live radio is completely represented in this single near half hour of a full production comedy show. Hear it in its raw entirety here!
In this episode of The Collaboration Space, we share how IT's role continues to evolve, including sharing more insights into how and where we work and the spaces we use. Specifically, we'll dive into how workplace automation and analytics help your real estate and facilities teams make informed decisions. We'll also talk about how to get started.Joining this discussion is Henry Levak from LogitechHenry and host Nancy Lussier discuss:How IT's role is changing and how that drives the need for different insights that show the results of technology investments.Explosion of meeting room techPressure to justify budgetsHybrid work uncertaintyHow Executives want measurable outcomes, not anecdotesThis shifts IT's role from deploying AV/UC hardware to optimizing experiences. With this convergence of AV and IT, what's on the insights wish list?Rooms aren't passive hardware anymore. They're active sources of intelligence. Music – Muzyka "Muzyka" means "music," and in this micro-lesson you'll say it like you're front row at a Warsaw concert with your favorite playlist on repeat. First you hear the word at native speed, then slowed down so you can master the soft "mu" and the flowing "zyka." We drop it into three earworm-ready sentences: – "Kocham muzykę." (I love music.) – "To moja playlista." (This is my playlist.) – "Gram na gitarze." (I play guitar.) Repeat-along track included—perfect while you queue Spotify, tune your instrument, or discover your next favorite Polish artist. Challenge: Tell us in the comments what music YOU love and if you play any instruments—reply in Polish for bonus points. After a musical upbringing that was staunchly classical, Benjamin Wallfisch has married his Bach-influenced skillset with a love of music technology to become one of Hollywood's go-to composers. After a huge breakthrough working on Blade Runner: 2049 alongside a certain Hans Zimmer, huge jobs kept rolling in, including Shazam!, It and It Chapter Two, Twisters, and Alien: Romulus. The composer discusses scoring Welcome to Derry and Predator Badlands, and pivoting from pursuing orchestral conducting to making music for movies.

Zachary Levi — Chuck, Shazam, and now host of the new docu-drama David: King of Israel — joins us to talk about why the story of David is the one he keeps coming back to. It's a story of someone who's broken, who makes terrible decisions, and who somehow still gets called a man after God's own heart. Levi explains what sets this show apart from all the other David content out there right now and why he thinks everyone needs to hear this story again. Also in this episode: We've been hearing a lot about revival — from the SEU outpouring to Asbury to rising Bible sales. But does the data actually back that up? We talked to Ryan Burge, a pastor, researcher and political analyst who's spent 20 years studying church trends, and his answer might surprise you. Plus, Gen Z is quietly bringing physical media back, why AI in the operating room is already causing problems, and Jesse drops a statistic about cats and birds that is either shocking or deeply unpopular depending on whether you own a cat.And it's the spring edition of One Has to Go!TIMESTAMPS0:45 — Cameron stress-eating popcorn at the Magic game and them losing because of it 5:45 — RELEVANT Buzz 7:00 — Zach Levi on David: King of Israel11:15 — DVDs and physical media are making a comeback, thanks to Gen Z 19:00 — Is revival actually happening in America? This week on Another Pass, Sam and Case are joined by Zorikh Lequidre to revisit Shazam! Fury of the Gods. We break down the sequel's mythic swing, its tonal tightrope between family comedy and divine spectacle, and whether this lightning strike deserved a brighter fate at the box office. Complex Character History and Naming (02:43) The Shazam character has undergone multiple renamings, now sometimes called "The Captain" to differentiate from original versions. Comics have introduced variants like Mary Marvel and Junior (Freddie Freeman's hero name) to expand the lore. The character's fluctuating comic presence, with cancellations and restarts, impacts fan engagement and continuity. Zorak's project, Captain Marvel Culture, explores these variants in cultural and historical contexts, highlighting the character's societal relevance. Actor and Fan Perspectives on Shazam (07:30) Sam Alicea shared her positive cosplay experience as Mary Marvel, emphasizing the character's wholesome reception in fandom. Both Sam and Case Aiken noted that the first Shazam movie was colorful and fun, appealing to casual viewers with good pacing and humor. Case's personal connection to the character goes back to childhood superhero creations, reinforcing the deep fan roots. The first film balanced the youthful and superhero personas well, unlike the sequel where the older cast created dissonance. Challenges with Sequel Timing and Casting (14:00) The four-year gap between the first and second Shazam movies caused problematic aging of the cast, making the characters less believable as teenagers. The COVID-19 pandemic limited crowd scenes, affecting the movie's atmosphere and fight sequences, leading to a "COVID movie" feel with socially distanced extras. The sequel's timing made character maturity inconsistent, with Zachary Levi's older age conflicting with immature superhero behavior, reducing audience sympathy. The lack of continuity in character growth and the absence of younger kid scenes weakened the family dynamic established in the first film. Plot, Powers, and Mythological Elements The movie's story and mythological adaptations were discussed, focusing on the Daughters of Atlas and their powers, plus how mythology was reinterpreted (28:58). Invented Mythology and Powers of Atlas' Daughters (29:00) The film introduced three daughters of Atlas, a creative deviation from classical mythology that was accepted as a fun concept. Helen Mirren's character uses force fields and telekinesis, Lucy Liu's character employs "chaos" powers resembling mind control, and Rachel Zegler's character has axis-based powers, visually impressive but not well explained. The powers were often scene-dependent rather than consistent, especially Helen Mirren's varying abilities. The dome barrier served as a plot device to isolate the final fight and prevent intervention from other heroes, a trope common in superhero films. Mythology vs. Comic Lore (31:33) The movie used traditional Shazam power origins (Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, Mercury) rather than newer comic variations. Discussion considered linking the characters to the broader DC mythos, such as the New Gods, but the film stuck to simpler concepts. The film's magic and powers were occasionally connected to Dungeons & Dragons references, reflecting the script's mix of fantasy influences. The casting of iconic actors like Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu added gravitas despite the powers being plot-driven. Narrative and Visual Critiques of Powers and Effects (35:00) The dome and powers' visual effects felt forced or inconsistent, serving more as story contrivances than meaningful world-building. The chaotic power, mainly mind control, lacked thematic clarity despite being the most consistent. The movie struggled to integrate powers into the plot logically, often introducing new abilities at convenience moments. The limited impact of the dome on the city was noted, with little attention to realistic consequences of such an event. Family Dynamics and Character Development A major theme was how the sequel mishandled the Shazam family dynamic, focusing too much on superhero forms and not enough on the kids' human sides (40:00). Underused Supporting Characters and Forced Representation (40:00) Pedro's gay reveal felt forced due to minimal screen time and lack of character development. The less prominent kids, especially Eugene and Pedro, were overshadowed by their superhero forms, weakening emotional engagement. Darla remained the heart of the family, carrying much of the emotional weight and humor, consistent with the first film. The sequel relied heavily on superhero personas rather than showing genuine child characters, harming the family's relatability. Mismatch of Actor Ages and Character Portrayals (46:30) The aging cast, particularly Zachary Levi, struggled to convincingly portray teenage characters, making immature behavior less palatable. The lack of contrasting younger versions of Billy and other kids reduced the dynamic tension present in the original movie. The sequel missed chances to explore Billy's growth and his struggles with leadership and abandonment issues meaningfully. Sam noted the film's good attempt to show Billy's fear of aging out of foster care as a motivation, but this was not fully developed. Lost Opportunities for Emotional Payoff (53:00) The film failed to create a satisfying emotional journey for Billy, especially regarding his insecurities and leadership challenges. The family's support was underutilized in key moments, leaving Billy's character arc feeling incomplete. The sequel lacked the sense of belonging and acceptance that made the first film's family dynamic resonate. Case and Sam suggested that a powerful second-act scene showing Billy's vulnerability and the family's encouragement was needed to strengthen the story. Critique and Proposed Fixes for the Sequel The panel proposed several realistic improvements to the sequel's structure, pacing, and character focus to enhance its emotional and narrative impact (56:00). Strengthening the Second Act and Family Bonding (56:00) Add scenes where the kids remain in their human forms to highlight their vulnerabilities, creating richer character moments. Insert a confrontation scene where Billy expresses frustration at the family's lack of unity, followed by reassurance from siblings. Shorten or remove the cringy Wonder Woman date scene to maintain tone and pacing. Show more of the lesser-used kids at school, depicting their struggles balancing normal life and superhero identities. Improving the Final Battle with the Dragon (31:30, 56:00, 01:32:50) Make the fight more dynamic by having Billy repeatedly say "Shazam" to power up the staff, requiring him to transform back to human form intermittently. Introduce stages in the fight where the hero tries different tactics, fails, then devises a winning plan. Include moments of vulnerability where Billy dodges attacks and avoids damage, adding tension and realism. Use the environment inside the dome better, possibly including some civilians or other stakes, if COVID protocols allow. Enhancing Character Scenes and Emotional Arcs (01:40:00) Show the kids' defeat when Helen Mirren's character escapes by turning back into their child forms, emphasizing their youth and fallibility. Add a scene where Billy admits to failure and receives encouragement from his siblings, reinforcing the family theme. Develop more natural, character-driven moments such as a school scene involving Skittles, tying in humor and personality. Streamline the plot to reduce the number of major events, allowing more screen time for character interactions and growth. Long-Term Franchise Vision: TV Series Format (01:14:30, 01:49:00) The panel agreed a TV series would better suit the story, allowing the actors to age naturally and explore the characters in depth. Proposed dividing the cast so Billy, Mary, and Freddie attend college while the younger kids remain in high school, creating parallel storylines. This approach resembles a "Happy Days with superpowers" format, supporting gradual character evolution and maintaining audience engagement. The TV format would also allow passing powers to new kids as the original characters grow up, ensuring franchise longevity. Production Context and External Influences The discussion recognized COVID-19's major impact on production, release timing, and overall movie quality, affecting creative decisions and execution (14:00, 01:52:00). COVID-19 Pandemic Effects (14:00) Production delays and social distancing protocols limited extras and crowd scenes, affecting the movie's atmosphere and fight choreography. The necessity of a smaller dome and fewer characters in scenes was a direct result of COVID restrictions. The four-year gap between movies was unplanned but forced by the pandemic, causing casting and story continuity issues. These factors contributed to the movie feeling disjointed and less cohesive compared to the first film. Script and Franchise Challenges (25:00) Multiple script rewrites were needed after Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam was spun off into his own movie, forcing major plot changes. The absence of Black Adam as a villain removed a key expected antagonist, weakening the sequel's threat level and fan expectations. The movie was released amid DC's shifting cinematic universe plans, reducing the likelihood of future sequels or franchise expansion. Despite plans to connect with the Justice Society and tease Mr. Mind, these elements remained unresolved, signaling franchise uncertainty. Casting and Political Context (01:06:00) Gal Gadot's performance as Wonder Woman was noted as uneven and disconnected from the main cast's energy. The panel acknowledged Gadot's political stances have affected her reception among some fans, adding complexity to her role's acceptance. The awkwardness of Billy's romantic scene with Wonder Woman was criticized for tone and appropriateness, detracting from character coherence. Zachary Levi's personal controversies and public persona complicated audience reception of his performance, especially given the film's tonal demands.

The Brazilian party starter unveils 60 minutes of sun-drenched house. Minas Gerais isn't the typical Brazil of postcards. Yet from this landlocked terrain emerged one of its most accomplished sons. As OMOLOKO, João Vitor has mastered the art of summoning summer on the dance floor. Armed with a pair of CDJs and a USB, he carries sun-kissed house dreams shaped by countless hours lost in Discogs rabbit holes, forgotten corners of YouTube and the dust of hidden record shops. Vitor was born in Rio Grande do Norte, in Brazil's northeast, before moving south as a child when his family set out in search of new opportunities—a well-worn path in the world's fifth-largest country. Adopting the alias OMOLOKO in the late 2010s, he quickly became a beacon in Belo Horizonte's bubbling electronic scene. Carrying sounds from home deep in his memory alongside a restless desire to make the world dance to his own findings, he carved out a singular voice with genre-hopping sets, grounded in an affection for infectious grooves and warm, rolling kicks. In recent years, Vitor's fine-tuning of his craft behind the decks have made him more than a familiar face at countless essential nightlife hubs around the world, from Panorama Bar to Dekmantel, São Paulo's Gop Tun to Ibiza's DC-10. His résumé, already impressive, is expanding nicely. So to mark the beginning of carnaval in Brazil, who better for RA.1025. Vitor's RA Mix draws deeply from the lineage of house's most celebrated names, alongside obscure gems your Shazam wouldn't dare recognise. With slow-cooking patience, the session follows wherever the language of dance leads: South African kwaito, diva vocal flashes, funk-laced deep house, vibraphone-led strides and salsa-laced drumwork. It's like a dream team of house offshoots, all meeting for the very first time at the beach. Read more at https://ra.co/podcast/1044 @OMOLOKOO
