CAFE stands for “Corporate Average Fuel Economy.” An easy definition, via the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is a regulation: …[on] how far our vehicles must travel on a gallon of fuel. NHTSA sets CAFE standards for passenger cars and for light trucks (collectively, light-duty vehicles), and separately sets fuel consumption standards for medium- and heavy-duty trucks and engines. NHTSA also regulates the fuel-economy window stickers on new vehicles. The proposal passed 4-0, with only Supervisor Kathryn Barger abstaining. A final vote is scheduled for next week, and the ordinance would take effect in January 2026, according to the LA Times. Legal experts say federal immigration agents would not be required to follow a county mask ban. Amid Russian gains on the battlefield, they insist Ukraine must be armed “to keep the fight going.” The alliance offered these commitments while being accused of attempting to sabotage peace talks. The gist of the narrative sounds accurate, though some of the EU leaders are denying the specifics of the wording used. The EU is very worried President Trump may formulate a peace agreement then present the final terms to Ukraine without the EU being involved in the construct of the details. Conference championship weekend is here! Spots in the College Football Playoff are on the line, and not just for teams in Power Four conferences. Could we see two Group of Five teams in this year? Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey preview what they are most interested in this weekend. First, they preview the matchup between the nation's highest ranked teams. #1 Ohio State faces #2 Indiana for the Big Ten Championship Game. Although this game does not have much of an effect on either team making the Playoff, it may tell us a lot about what to expect in the Playoff. Then, it's the Big 12 Championship Game between #11 BYU and #4 Texas Tech. A win for Tech secures a first round bye, but is there a path for BYU to make the Playoff even with a loss in the title game? One of the guys thinks that may be possible. Lastly, they look at the ACC Championship Game and its impact on the CFP. Duke takes on #17 Virginia. Virginia will make the CFP if they win, but Duke coach Manny Diaz thinks that a 7-5 ACC champion Duke team would also make the field. Could this be the case, or would it pave a path for multiple Group of Five teams? The guys debate all of this and more.Later, Ross' Congressional Minute gives an update on the SCORE Act's progress in Congress, or more appropriately, the lack of progress.
