On this episode, Stewart Alsop talks with Suman Kanuganti, founder of Personal.ai and a pioneer in AI for accessibility and human-machine collaboration. Together, they explore how Suman's journey from launching Aira to building Personal.ai reflects a deeper mission of creating technology that enhances memory, communication, and personal empowerment. They touch on entrepreneurship, inclusive design, and the future of AI as a personal extension of human potential. For more information, visit the Personal.ai website or connect with Suman on LinkedIn.Check out this GPT we trained on the conversation!Timestamps00:00 Introduction to Suman Kanuganti and the vision behind Personal.ai, setting the stage with AI for accessibility and personal empowerment.05:00 Discussing the startup journey, the leap from corporate life to entrepreneurship, and the founding of Aira with a focus on inclusive technology.10:00 Deep dive into communication empowerment, how Aira built independence for the blind community, and lessons learned from solving real-world problems.15:00 Transitioning from Aira to Personal.ai, exploring memory extension and the future of personal communication through AI models.20:00 Addressing privacy, ownership of personal data, and why trust is fundamental in the development of personalized AI systems.25:00 Vision of human-machine collaboration, future scenarios where AI supports memory, creativity, and human potential without replacing human agency.30:00 Closing reflections on entrepreneurship, building technology with deep purpose, and how inclusive design drives innovation for everyone.Key InsightsPersonalized AI is the Next Evolution in Human Communication: Suman Kanuganti emphasizes that AI is moving beyond generic tools and into deeply personal territory, where each individual can have an AI modeled after their own thoughts, memories, and style of communication. This evolution is aimed at making technology an extension of the self rather than a replacement.Accessibility Technologies Have Broader Applications: Through his work with Aira, Suman discovered that building tools for accessibility often results in innovations that serve a much wider audience. By designing with people with disabilities in mind, entrepreneurs can create more universally empowering technologies that enhance independence for everyone.Entrepreneurship Requires a Deep Sense of Purpose: Suman's transition from corporate engineering to entrepreneurship was fueled by a personal desire to create meaningful change. He highlights that a strong mission—like empowering individuals through technology—helps sustain entrepreneurs through the inevitable challenges and uncertainties of building startups.Memory Is a Key Frontier for AI Development: One of the core ideas discussed is that memory preservation and recall is an essential human function that AI can augment. Personal.ai aims to assist individuals by organizing and retrieving personal memories and knowledge, offering a future where mental workload is reduced without losing personal agency.Building Trust Is Critical in Personal AI: Suman stresses that for AI to become truly personal and trusted, users must retain ownership and control over their data. Personal.ai is designed with privacy and individual autonomy at its core, reflecting a future where users dictate how their information is stored, accessed, and shared. The Best Innovations Come from Solving Specific, Real Problems: Rather than chasing trends, Suman advocates for entrepreneurs to focus on tangible problems they understand deeply. His success with Aira stemmed from addressing a clear need in the blind community, and that same principle now drives the mission behind Personal.ai—addressing the growing problem of information overload and memory fragmentation.Human-AI Symbiosis Will Define the Future: Suman paints a future where humans and AI work symbiotically, each complementing the other's strengths. Instead of replacing human intelligence, the best AI systems will support cognitive functions like memory, creativity, and communication, ultimately expanding what individuals can achieve personally and professionally.

It's pretty clearly established that Jesus is a terrible salesman when he tells people to follow him. He has 4 conversations that challenge people with what he's selling. But what is he selling? 1) He's selling rejection and extreme patience. Jesus gets rejected by Samaritans - a bunch of people who believe different things about all the things. James and John want to call down fire from heaven to burn the village (WTF, right?). Jesus rebukes them. Just like the disciples we have the capacity to lead with anger instead of love. Jesus rebukes that. I imagine he reminds them that to follow Jesus is to bring life, not death - even if it's to people who disagree with us. 2) Jesus is selling movement and constant change. He has no place to lay his head. Homeless Jesus. The call to follow Jesus is the call to always move, always learn, always grow, always change. Change is hard - not sure I'm buying what Jesus is selling. 3) Jesus is selling disruption and disorientation. Dude just wants to take care of his family obligations before following. I think the thing Jesus is selling here is a testing of our loyalties. Following Jesus comes with a certain detachment to all other commitments. Jesus if primary. That means our families and other relationships. even prior beliefs may be disrupted. 4) Jesus is selling a sense of urgency. We always have excuses for not following when the call of God comes. Jesus is all, don't hesitate - if you're gonna hesitate, don't follow. Sheesh! Look, Jesus might be a horrible salesperson – but at least he's honest. And if we're honest, we know he's telling the truth. We know that Jesus has the cure for our boredom and hunger. He knows we have this deep hunger for a sense of real value and purpose in this life. Jesus seems to be so hard on us because he too has a sense of urgency on our behalf. He knows that what we really yearn for is transformation and renewal. So Jesus says, “Follow me. Come, die with me. Die to all of that other stuff so that you can truly live.” Speaker: Aaron Vis Scripture: Luke 9:51-62 https://www.bible.com/events/49272456

“‘Now get up and stand on your feet. . . . I am sending you to [the Gentiles] to open their eyes . . . so that they may receive forgiveness of sins. . . .'” — Acts 26:16-18 Consider your own story of faith. One of the ways you can know the awe of God is through your story. Maybe you came to Jesus out of a life of poverty and pain. Maybe you think your story is less than exciting because you grew up in the church and have always been a part of it. Whatever the case, you have a story to share because it's really about God's story happening through you. In all your struggles, celebrations, griefs, and joys, God has been telling his story of grace in and through you. When given the opportunity, Paul shared his story. One of the main reasons a personal story is so powerful is that no one can argue against the way God has chosen to work in and through you. Think of moments when you had to trust God with a loved one who was sick, or when you were not sure how to pay a debt and God provided for you. Or maybe you thought your marriage was at the point of no return, but God brought it back. People can debate theology and doctrine, but they cannot argue against the awesome work of God in and through a transformed life. May we not lose sight of the power of whom we serve and that we are called to be his people. Let's embrace and celebrate the awe and wonder of God's power each day. God, undo me today! Soften my heart and bring me freedom so that I may see and know the wonder of who you are. Amen.

Alisi Tutuila, CEO Aspire Indigenous, and Chair, Aboriginal Housing Company on fulfilling her deep sense of responsibility with honour, giving back whilst paying it forward and changing the trajectory for Indigenous youth through building infrastructure across housing, recruitment and childcare.   Key Insights (02:34) How did Alisi start her leadership journey? Alisi provided two snapshots Firstly, around the ages of four and five she was asked by her single father to help raise her little sister amongst other things. Alisi understood early on that she had to step up and take on a leadership role and responsibility for her family. The second snapshot occurred about 20 years again in her role as a youth worker in Redfern. During this time, she learned the importance of building rapport and respect in the community and came to realise that young people needed someone to trust, rely on and guide them. (14:03) How does Alisi overcome imposter syndrome? Alisi overcame moments of imposter syndrome by staying focused on the purpose and the path her team was on. Alisi also has mentors that help her push forward and champion her. Alisi shares a moment where one of her mentors, Uncle Mick Mundine reminded her that her forefathers did their bit so she could sit equal at the table. Now it's her turn and time to be in the moment. (19:29) What tool can Alisi share to the audience to add to their Leadership Toolbox? Alisi shares the importance of finding your people and a group of leaders to champion you. For Alisi her circle of aunties, mothers, and sisters play a vital role in her professional success, family life and soul. For those that don't have strong circles around them, Alisi shares that they should look towards their community because there are other women waiting to connect.   Important Resources and Links If you'd like to learn more about how CommBank is supporting the growth of women in business visit https://www.commbank.com.au/women-in-focus.html   Host of the Leading Women podcast, Shivani Gopal is a serial entrepreneur, speaker and advocate on a mission to create a more equal world. — The simplicity of silence within natural surroundings quiets the mind while intuitive, and spiritual energy is refined. Valeria interviews Kent Tompkins  — He is the author of  “Finding the Balance...The Vision Story that led to A retrospective of images and stories from 1977-2022.” As a kid, Kent hung out extensively in nature in rural western Colorado. His family was consistently supportive of one another, encouraging adventure, diversity and the development of their own unique perceptions and self-sufficiency. He was also gifted with athleticism that paid his way through college. Currently cycling, ecstatic dance, yoga, core work, nutrition and integrative healing friends comprise his wellness lifestyle.  Kent grew up around photographers and healers and continues hunting down images, video footage and wisdom related to what creates a self-healing body and mind and related ponderings. Ansel Adams and other master photographers have poured knowledge and wisdom into him over the years as he continues his documentary photo work.  After finding his way to the Dine' (aka: Navajo)  reservation in 1978, he stayed there until 1991. While there, he photographed sacred sites/ceremonies by invitation, was learning and collaborating with elders, artists, healers and putting cameras in indigenous kids' hands. This collaboration continues today through workshop facilitation and documentary work. His rural roots and experiences within nature aligned with their teachings. His knowledge of physics (the various dimensions and teaching navigation and ways of healing through them), integrative healing, art, and the importance of connecting with one's deep sense of self, continues dove-tailing with his integrative therapy knowledge and expertise in an integrative therapy and wilderness-based practice. Kent works with individuals, couples and families. He loves putting cameras in kids' hands to better understand their world view as revealed up and down alleys and around a campfire.  The simplicity of silence within natural surroundings quiets his mind while his intuitive, and spiritual energy are topics for workshops and mentoring of healers whose “superpowers” are woven into their budding wisdom.  As a seasoned board licensed psychotherapist, he's maintained a private practice over the last 30 years in Colorado and New Mexico.  Kent currently resides in Paonia, CO, with his Kiwi adventure-based partner Jaya.  To learn more about Kent Tompkins and his work, please visit: kenttompkins.com and kentart.com                   — This podcast is a quest for well-being, a quest for a meaningful life through the exploration of fundamental truths, enlightening ideas, insights on physical, mental, and spiritual health. The North Star Goal emphasizes its aim to help people build and understand their sense of identity. In these modern times, people struggle to understand that deep sense of meaning that defines who we are. Most of us wanted to instantly have the answers to our problems; some even sought to have these answers in an instant, but instead, this resulted in more problems. The North Star Goal wanted people to see how we can achieve happiness in life without relying on addiction; without relying on what we thought would be better for us but actually destroys us. The deepest foundational layer of any relationship is respect. Respect means honouring someone's most genuine self, despite imperfections or differences. Respect provides the base for which feelings of trust, safety and well-being grow upon.   But gaining someone's respect can feel like a massive challenge. When we get caught in the trap of people pleasing and perfectionism, we're not our authentic selves. We then compromise our values, boundaries and energy - all innate qualities that people ultimately respect in us, whether they like us or not.   In this episode, we're talking about: Why admitting your mistakes can benefit your relationship The importance of honesty, integrity and constantly striving to be congruent Why mastering your craft is an important element of respect How to be your most genuine, authentic self How to set better boundaries with yourself and others How gaining respect starts with self respect Why gaining respect is (in my opinion) even more important than gaining trust, and how the two are closely interwoven   On that note, a question I've been asking many people lately: “What's worse, losing trust in someone or losing respect?”    What are your thoughts? Let me know your response - DM or email me (info below). Would love to know your thoughts on this question or the topic of respect. "When you can see someone in all of their human-ness, it will allow you to heal and let go, rather than gripping onto old hurts and keep your ego running the show." Ooof. Having compassion for someone who hurt us is harder than it seems, but we're breaking it all down today, including: Figuring out the stories we're creating that can be preventing us from viewing things with a lens of compassion Giving the benefit of the doubt while also acknowledging your own truth and boundaries Realizing you too have made mistakes And the process that comes with letting go of old hurts.   People will come into your life for different reasons. They might be there to love you, to test you, to push you in new ways, and some are going to hurt you along the way, just as we will all end up inevitably doing to others at times too.  They may be in our lives for a long period of time, or perhaps they’ll only stay long enough for a brief encounter.  No matter what, they all provide lessons. We all want to live a meaningful life, but if we’re honest, we’ve been letting fate author our story for way too long. A meaningful life doesn’t happen when we let fate write it for us. A meaningful life happens when we create and follow a life plan that gives us a clear direction and purpose. Imagine knowing every task you completed was contributing to a life full of meaning. Imagine waking up each day not in a fog, but with a clear sense of purpose.  That’s exactly what you’ll experience when you create and follow the life plan Donald Miller teaches in this episode. These five steps will help you take back control of your life so you wake up every day knowing your work matters and is part of an incredibly meaningful story.

The concept of self-love is more complexed than what we often see on social media or read from some motivational quote.  Loving yourself doesn't mean getting your nails done or visiting a hair salon every other week or taking a lavish vacation in some exotic place.  Self-love is much deeper because regardless of what you have or where you are, your inner world ultimately defines the quality of your life. Self-love fulfills you while everything else is a bonus.  In today's podcast episode, I am going to share with you the true meaning of self-love and how deep it actually goes.  Tune in and learn: - how to develop a deep sense of self-love  - what it means to love yourself and why so many of us misunderstood this concept  - how facing your shortcomings is one of the most loving things you can do for you  - 5 Ways how to take your self-loving journey to the next level

Relationship Alive!
77: 21 Days to Deeper Intimacy

Relationship Alive!

It’s an exciting week around here. For one thing, it’s my birthday week! I celebrated the day differently than I have in year’s past - taking a ton of down time, and enjoying some mellow moments with Chloe. Allowing myself the freedom to do NOTHING for a day. Of course, I didn’t do nothing, but what I did do felt sweet, special - and I appreciated all the little birthday greetings that came in from friends around the globe. Here’s another piece of exciting news. A little background on this: You may know that Chloe and I have a 7-week course, called Thriving Intimacy. It’s a comprehensive journey through all of the things that they should have told you about how to do relationships well in school, but didn’t. We’ve been fortunate enough through our work with clients and the conversations here on the podcast to put together this 7-week course that’s comprehensive and represents the state of the art on how to do relationships well. We’ve had great feedback on the course - and if you’re interested in that, you can text the word "INTIMACY" to 33444, or you can visit neilsattin.com/intimacy and find out more. But that’s not why I brought this up... After creating the Thriving Intimacy course, we started up a conversation with the site DailyOM. They were looking for a course on relationships that would have the potential to completely transform a relationship in 21 days, and asked us if we would be willing to put that together for them. So what we did is we looked at the framework that we put together for our 7-week Thriving Intimacy and thought - ok, if we were going to take someone on a 21-day journey that touched on all of these points in a way that made sense, what would it look like? How far could we go? And that’s how our new course 21 Days to Deeper Intimacy was born. Actually I’ll let you in on a little secret - it was originally going to be called "21 Days to a Deep Sense of Safety in Your Relationship". I guess they thought that was too long or something. So it’s called 21 Days to Deeper Intimacy. And it’s a course that you can take with your partner, or alone. Over the course of the 21 Days, you will Uncover the hidden obstacles to safety and connection in your relationship Awaken a deep sense of presence and attunement within yourself and with your partner Learn how to communicate with greater ease, so that you can feel fully seen and understood by your partner (and come to understand your partner better as well) Clear out old, unhealthy patterns and ways of operating in your relationship, for a deeper sense of what's truly possible for you in love Learn how to foster sexual and sensual energy throughout the day with your partner Create a rock solid container for your relationship allowing you to feel the freedom that's possible in commitment and more! And DailyOM released it yesterday, on my birthday! That wasn’t planned, by the way. The course is already in their top 10 - which is really exciting for us as it means that it will be seen by the thousands of people who visit their site. And of course we wanted to tell you about it as well. One of the interesting things is that you can actually choose what you want to pay for the course. So hopefully that makes it accessible for you. The way to find out more about the course is to either visit neilsattin.com/21days or you can text “21DAYS” to the number 33444 and I will send you a link so you can check out the course. So whether you want a 7-week journey, or a 21-day journey, or both - we designed the two courses so that they would complement each other - there are some great options for you to take what you’ve heard here on the podcast and get some guidance on how to apply it in your life. Next week, for Valentine’s Day, we’re going to release a fun episode with Cathy Salit on - well - basically how to foster fun in your relationship. See you then!

For this episode we have invited DJ, edit man and disco connoisseur Chuggin Edits to spin some of the records that have influenced him over the years. Nice one Chuggin Edits!   A few words from Chuggin Edits… England seems to be the place to be for Disco-editors. His First ever release on Deep Sense- First Voyage an edit of A Tribe Called Quest was the best selling track on that compilation and they gladly asked him back on the new Deep Sense - 2nd Voyage, so there’s certainly a lot more to be expected from the talented guy in the near future. But for now – lean back and enjoy this journey. This mix is a compilation of tracks that have really caught my eye over the last few years and amongst them some great people and friends I have got to know since putting on my edit slippers in June 2014.
