Democrats Have Fallen - Ep 24-488

[SEGMENT 2-1] Democrats have fallen 1 - Pelosi     https://www.nbcnews.com/now/video/nancy-pelosi-hospitalized-during-congressional-visit-to-luxembourg-227011141972Nancy Pelosi Falls Abroad: A Sign from God or Just Bad Balance?Pelosi's Luxembourg Adventure: From Battle of the Bulge to Battle of the Ground.Gravity's Political Statement: Pelosi Takes a Dive in Europe.Nancy Pelosi's Luxembourg Fall: A New Low in Political Travel?Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic stalwart who's held onto power longer than a stubborn hangnail, had an unexpected slip while on a congressional delegation trip in Luxembourg. The event was meant to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, but Pelosi added her own “historic fall” to the itinerary. Some might argue that this fall was more symbolic than accidental—a nudge from the universe, perhaps, hinting it's time for the geriatrics of Congress to call it quits. Pelosi, older than President Joe Biden and arguably just as accident-prone, sustained an injury that required hospitalization. At her age, recovering from a tumble is less of a bounce-back and more of a negotiation with fate. To add context, her political career has lasted so long, she could've personally lobbied FDR for Social Security. This raises the question: What was Pelosi doing in Luxembourg, anyway? The cynics might wonder if she was scouting for Electoral College votes in a European democracy or indulging in another taxpayer-funded boondoggle. After all, there's no better place to reflect on the heroism of WWII veterans than a five-star suite in Europe, right? Some suggest Pelosi's fall might be a divine intervention. The Almighty might be sending a clear message: retire already. At her age, gravity isn't just a law; it's an opponent—and one that seems to be gaining the upper hand. Pelosi's accident comes as the nation increasingly debates the issue of leadership longevity. Alongside Mitch McConnell's frequent freezes and Joe Biden's conversational detours into oblivion, Pelosi's Luxembourg stumble only underscores the need for term limits—or at least a vigorous game of shuffleboard in the congressional retirement home. Botox, as effective as it is on facial wrinkles, doesn't work on equilibrium or political stamina. As the news breaks, updates on her condition remain scant, likely because they aren't great. In classic media fashion, if it's bad for the Left, it's kept quiet. For Pelosi's critics, her fall is a moment of grim irony, as some might view her “trip” abroad as a final chapter to her political adventures. Politics, much like Pelosi's footing, is shaky these days. The nation is clamoring for new blood, fresher faces, and leaders who don't require an orthopedic specialist on speed dial. Perhaps it's time for Pelosi, McConnell, and the rest of the geriocracy to take a cue from history's battles and bow out gracefully before they're carried out involuntarily.    [SEGMENT 2-2] Democrats have fallen 2 - Van Jones Pelosi falling in Luxembourg is symbolic of the Democratic Party. They have fallen. Democrats resemble nothing of what they claim to stand for. And it's not just Conservatives saying this. For the first time in a long time, I'm watching Democrats argue openly about their party. It's the first step in a 12-step program, where some are slightly waking up. I've documented some of their mea culpas, but I also point out that while they see the error of their ways, it's only partially. Despite the wake-up call, most Leftist still hold Leftist tendencies or rationalizations. Take Van Jones for example. Jones sounded the alarm bell for Leftists, nevertheless he still missed the bigger picture. He blames Democrats for missing the digital revolution, but doesn't blame their messaging. [X] SB – Van Jones on Leftists being way off Laughing at Trump. 24-hour digital surround sound Kai Sent Aidan Ross, Jinxy, and Sketch Twitch, Kick, and Rumble Mainstream is fringe, fringe is mainstream I hate to agree with her, but I do a lot of times.   CNN's Van Jones warned on Wednesday that the entire “political class” in the country is “way off” when it comes to connecting to voters, as “fringe” platforms and voices have replaced “mainstream” outlets like his own network. Jones was one of a number of voices to participate in a panel discussion for The New York Times' Dealbook Summit this week, along with others like Kellyanne Conway and Kevin McCarthy. Jones, a former advisor to former President Barack Obama, argued that President-elect Donald Trump better understood the digital sphere and the current issues men in the country are facing than Democrats during the election. The entire political class is way off. First of all, digital is the new door knocking. You got to understand that. We were laughing our butts off at Donald Trump for suspending his door knocking campaign and letting Charlie Kirk and Elon [Musk] do a bunch of stuff online. We said, ‘these guys are idiots, these guys are stupid.' Then you start knocking on these doors. You know what people come to the door with? They're phone in their hand. They're in a 24 hour digital surround sound that has nothing to do with CNN, that has nothing to do with anything we do. “I don't what who he's talking about,” he said. Jones fretted that streamers and podcasters are bringing in views that cable news cannot come close to touching. “The mainstream has become fringe and the fringe has become mainstream,” he said. “There are platforms, there are people out there that are getting 14 million streams and we're on cable news getting one to two million.”   Jones hasn't learned that it's Democrats messaging that's the problem, not the distribution system. Remember how Obama revolutionized politics with his ground game? Much of it was built around social media, considered revolutionary at the time. Truth be told, he was going to beat McCain, even if the Obama campaign communicated by tin cans and smoke signals. Jones seems to forget that social media isn't new, and it was Obama who used it most effectively. However, Jones is right in that Leftists put way too much faith in their dying media industry. Alarm bells for the prestige media have been sounding for the better part of a decade. Decaying viewership, listenership, and so on. But Democrats dismissed the polls, because the polls reported what they didn't want to believe. But aside from Jones' warning, he said something even more profound when he declared, “I hate to agree with KellyAnne…” Why would you hate to agree with someone. Despite their political difference, if she makes a good point, simply say that. Jones revealed in that statement that he doesn't like that he's wrong. He was forced to admit that KellyAnne was right. In his defense, he's one of the few Leftists willing to do this. Still, there should be no caveat on truth.    [SEGMENT 2-3] Democrats have fallen 3 – Trump lawsuit   Potential Titles“Fake News, Real Checks: How Trump Made ABC Pay”“George Stephanopoulos: From Clinton's Spin Doctor to Trump's ATM”“Trump Turns Tables on the Media: $15M and Counting”“Stephanopoulos's Irony Overdose: A Clinton Guy Paying Trump for Defamation”“91 Indictments and a $15 Million Lawsuit Win—Who's the Real Teflon Don?”    Trump's $15 Million Smackdown: ABC, Stephanopoulos, and the Sweet Taste of Karma Imagine George Stephanopoulos—a man who spent years spinning stories for Bill Clinton, the original Oval Office scandal artist—getting his media empire handed a $15 million bill by Donald J. Trump. And not for a new golf course or gold-plated helicopter, but for defamation. That's right, George, the guy who helped a bona fide rapist into the White House, is now cutting checks for calling Trump out on rape allegations. The irony here isn't just thick; it's practically bulletproof. And Trump? Oh, he didn't pocket the cash. No, the man who's been branded every flavor of villain decided to channel the funds into a charity. Yep, a new foundation in his name, much like the one the Clintons ran but (hopefully) without the Haitian real estate scandals. This settlement is not just a win for Trump; it's a giant red rubber stamp that says, “Told ya so!” on his war against fake news. It's also a warning shot across the bow of mainstream media. CBS's 60 Minutes? You're up next, baby. Rumor has it, they might need to start fundraising to cover Trump's legal fees. Maybe they can sell some "unbiased journalism" on Etsy.  [SEGMENT 2-4] Democrats have fallen 4 – Trump lawsuit   [X] SB – Stephanopoulos with Mace [X] SB – Stephanopoulos then and now  ABC and the Blood Money Apology Here's the backstory for those just tuning in. Trump sued ABC News and George Stephanopoulos after an article from March 2024 insinuated... well, things that you really don't want to insinuate about someone running for president. But it gets better. The article was tied to an interview with Rep. Nancy Mace—a rape survivor—who not only supported Trump but also went toe-to-toe with Stephanopoulos live on air. Talk about awkward. While grilling Mace, Stephanopoulos went full smug mode, somehow managing to imply that Trump was morally bankrupt while pretending his own Clinton-era skeletons didn't exist. I mean, the guy worked for the administration that made cigars a punchline, yet he had the gall to lecture anyone else about Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-kevin-jackson-show--2896352/support.

Story 2: A goblin, a witch, and a muddy white cat walk into a Goblin Gathering... A shy young goblin named Gilbert looks for help from the dreaded Which Witch and her cat Jinxy to speak before the Goblin Council at the Great Goblin Gathering on Halloween night. A delgithful  story for your kids at bath time, bedtime, car time, and family time.  Web: aprileight.com Kids Listen: app.kidslisten.org Insta: instagram.com/aprileightsongsandstories Facebook: facebook.com/aprileight Get your Reward! patreon.com/aprileight Here is an excerpt from today's story: “You must have been pretty desperate to come to my door,” said the Which Witch.  “What were you hoping I would do for you, Gilbert Goblin? Create a magical spell that would give you the courage to speak before the Great Goblin Gathering?” Gilbert nodded. For the great Goblin Gathering was a night when every goblin stood before the whole goblin assembly and bragged about all the gobliny things they have done over the course of a long year. But Gilbert, being a very shy, rather nervous little goblin, was terrified to even stand before the goblin hordes all alone, let alone brag about his deeds. The Which Witch tried to use her immense powers of imagination to imagine Gilbert standing in front of the hall, confidently boasting about all that he had done that year. Even she, the conjuror or conjurors, couldn’t see it. Well, not yet, anyway… Hmmmm…. “Tell me your goblin deeds, Gilbert,” the Which Witch said, “Let’s make a list. It will make it easier when it is your turn to speak at the Goblin Gathering. You’ll have all of the gobliny things you’ve done all year long practiced in your head. Go ahead, dear. Go ahead… what have you done? ” The Witch pulled a paper and a quill from her desk drawer, dipped it in blackberry ink and readied herself to take down Gilbert’s long list of Goblin deeds. “Um, OK. Um…. yesterday I, I, I, I  helped a snail across a busy road. And, uh, I um, I found a woman’s hat in the lane so I, well, I put it on her front porch so she would find it. Oh, and I, I, I, I closed someone’s mailbox when it was raining in on their letters. And I also, well, I carried a baby squirrel up into the tree when he fell out of his nest.” “Oh Gilbert!” moaned the Which Witch. “This is terrible! These are not goblin deeds! These are good deeds! What are you thinking?  You’ve been too kind, too helpful and too, thoughtful. This is dreadful! You are supposed to make things harder for others, not easier!!” she shook her head, “ What kind of goblin are you? Oh my oh my. The Goblin Council will not be happy.” The Which Witch shook her head in despair.  Thank you for listening. I’m so excited to have a Halloween Story for you today called "The Which Witch and the Goblin", it is Episode 32! Story 1 : On Halloween night, all goblins gather at Great Goblin Hall to share their tales of the gobliny deeds they've done throughout the year. But Gilbert Goblin doesn't want to - it's too scary! Gilbert goes to the tricky Which Witch for advice. Will she and her cat Jinxy help him or trick him? A special Halloween story about following your heart and honoring your own voice. Web: aprileight.com Kids Listen: app.kidslisten.org Insta: instagram.com/aprileightsongsandstories Facebook: facebook.com/aprileight Get your Reward! patreon.com/aprileight Now some of my friends and fellow podcasters at Kids Listen are telling Halloween stories too --Just for kids like you! What will they do? GO find out on the Sparkle Stories Podcast.  And a great place to listen to carefully curated podcast just for kids is on the Kids Listen app. Find it on iTunes. Hooray. Now for Today's Story:    The Which Witch was alone. Of course, that’s just the way she liked it. Ah, solitude. Time to think, time to experiment, time to reread her favorite book, Poisons, Potions, and Perceptions. She was alone for now, but someone was coming to find her. She could feel him on his way. Someone small. Someone confused and worried too. But isn’t that how almost everyone who came to visit the Which Witch felt? No one ever WANTED to visit the Which Witch, so when she did have a visitor, they were usually feeling pretty desperate.   For the Which Witch’s powers: her strength, her magic, her intelligence and her intuition were known far and wide. Everyone feared her, for the conjuring and trickery she could do was beyond the understanding of almost everyone - gnomes, fairies, woodland creatures, pixies and, of course, humans, – were all bedazzled and alarmed by her potent witchcrafting. And what folks don’t understand, well, it scares them sometimes, doesn’t it? Was she a good witch? Was she a bad witch? Who’s to say? She wasn’t called the Which Witch for nothing. You never knew which witch you’d get when you knocked upon her door, so few people ever did unless…   ...The Which Witch’s keen ears picked up the quietest little tap upon her door, so quiet that it sounded like the knock of someone who really didn’t want the witch to even hear it, so quiet was it that it made the Which Witch chuckled to herself. (CHUCKLE)   “I can hear you little goblin. Oh, I can hear you.”   Thank you for listening to the April Eight Songs & Stories Podcast. For all things April Eight, please go to aprileight.com. With "The Weight of the World" on Buffy's shoulders (see what I did there?), her mind takes a break. Willow steps into a leadership role and directs the Scoobies to help Giles and surveil Glory. She then steps into Buffy's brain to see if she can't guide her back to reality. Meanwhile, Glory prepares Dawn for the ritual and Ben must choose between the light and dark sides of the force. Kristen and Mike discuss Ben - his background, character, and morality. And we debate the efficacy of Buffy's mind-loop. To celebrate the season and network finale "The Gift", we share your Stacker Stories about watching the episode for the first time! In the ep, Buffy makes it clear to the Scoobies that even if it saves the world. no harm shall come to Dawn. Motivated and peppy, Anya cheerleads the "how to we stop Glory" plan. With the Dagon Sphere, troll hammer, and Buffybot in tow, the gang follows Tara to the Tower of Terror. They launch an all-out well-calculated seige on Glory. But Doc's presence throws their plans out the window, and the walls between dimensions break down. We examine Dawn's growth over this season, and Giles' solution to the Ben problem. And we bemoan the exasperating ways networks can ruin an amazing season finale. PLUS! Season 5 Yearbook Awards and Stacker Surprise - help Jinxy worship Glorificus!

This beloved, zany flick starring Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro milks running jokes more than that male nurse Gaylord Focker milks cats.  This week we wonder how “Meet the Parents” from the year 2000 could be so incredibly popular and loved by everyone, how it’s strangely a remake of a 1992 film, and how its cringe quota rivals many horror films. We also wonder why Focker would continue to put up with such emotional abuse, whether the dad is just romantically interested in his own daughter, if mom is actually being held captive, and who the [BLEEP] keeps cameras in the bathroom?
