The next Albuquerque mayor won't just shape city hall—they'll test whether results still beat party colors. We dive into leaked polling that puts crime and homelessness at the center of the race, and we map the exact turnout math a challenger needs to overcome a deep registration gap. If performance has slipped across eight years, do voters choose change—or send a national message that drowns out local reality? We also unpack a heated national debate: U.S. forces targeting Venezuelan drug boats at sea. You'll hear the media questions that misframe maritime interdiction as domestic policing, the political fallout of showing empathy for traffickers while overdose deaths climb, and a throwback clip of Joe Biden calling for an international strike force against narco‑terrorists. The larger thread is accountability—whether at the border, on the streets, or at the ballot box.On the economy, gas prices have eased to their lowest since 2022, but grocery and housing sticker shock still sting. We talk strategy that doesn't insult voters' wallets: acknowledge the pain, highlight where wages outperform inflation, and deliver visible wins people can feel week to week. Then we shift gears with some joy: Indiana's Fernando Mendoza delivers a goosebump-worthy postgame moment and a reminder of what authentic leadership sounds like. We close with crisp mountain footage from the game cam—a regal winter buck, a pair of glowing eyes that resolve into deer, and an enormous mountain lion that steals the scene.Listen for sharp analysis, clear takeaways, and a grounded look at what matters now—from city safety to national security to the price of your next fill‑up. All Bones Considered: Laurel Hill Stories #041, part 4 Benjamin Wood Richards' tenure as mayor coincided with challenges such as public health crises, infrastructure needs, and social tensions in Philadelphia. In 1819, Richards co-founded a large commission house in Philadelphia, a business acting as an intermediary for securities and commodities transactions, earning income through commissions. He served in the Pennsylvania legislature in 1827, advocated for public schools, was a canal commissioner, and was appointed by President Andrew Jackson to direct the U.S. Bank and Mint. Appointed mayor in 1829 and elected in 1830-31, wealthy merchant Stephen Girard died during his term. Richards helped found the Girard Trust Company in 1835, serving as its president until his death, with the bank later becoming Girard Bank. When Richards toured Europe, he was inspired by Paris's Père Lachaise Cemetery, and helped found Philadelphia's Laurel Hill Cemetery, where he was a major stakeholder.

Socialism Comes to New York — Cliff May — May critiques New York City Mayor-elect Momdani's socialist-oriented policies, arguing that aggressive rent freeze mechanisms systematically diminish housing stock availability, reduce construction incentives, and undermine long-term affordability through supply contraction. May warns that additional socialist initiatives including fare-free public transportation and police defunding drive middle-class residents toward suburban and exurban jurisdictions. May cites Venezuelan economic collapse and continuing socialism failure across multiple jurisdictions as empirical evidence that socialist economic models fundamentally cannot function effectively in complex modern capitalist economies like New York City. 1888 five points
When the choice for Mayor is between an Italian Zionist sexual harasser who murdered 16,000 elderly people during COVID, or a Muslim Socialist rap producer who has never held a real job, it is hard to call anyone a winner. New York City is about to become unrecognizable. The rise to power for the 34-year-old Zohran Mamdani is artificial and contrived, with no victories or accomplishments in his past, making people suspicious about who this guy really is. His ideas will surely destroy what's left of Gotham, and the government-run grocery stores will be looted daily, but maybe that is the plan?
