Today I'm joined by the dynamic duo behind The Brownstone Boys—Barry Bordelon and Jordan Slocum. Known for their thoughtful restorations and their deep respect for architectural heritage, Barry and Jordan have built a design practice rooted in restoration, storytelling, and heart. What began with the renovation of their own Brooklyn brownstone sparked a passion for salvaging and preserving historic elements—everything from forgotten chandeliers to painted-over hardware. Since then, they've become celebrated voices in the world of preservation and design, known for breathing new life into old spaces while honoring the soul of what came before.Along the way, they've built an impressive roster of clients that includes names like Kerry Washington, Athena Calderone, and Peloton's Anna Greenberg, and they've cultivated a devoted community through their blog, Instagram, and their book, For the Love of Renovating. We explore their emotional connection to the pieces they collect, the thrill of discovery, and the belief that sometimes the most meaningful design begins with what's already there—hidden behind the walls, in the attic, and beneath the floorboards. So please enjoy, this is Barry & Jordan, The Brownstone Boys, for Collectors Gene Radio. The Brownstone Boys - https://thebrownstoneboys.com/Cameron Steiner - https://www.instagram.com/cameronrosssteinerCollectors Gene - https://www.collectorsgene.com

Have you ever felt, emotionally or mentally, that you're walking in the dark or in shadows? That things are difficult and there's little to no brightness shining through?Of course you have, we all have. That's why I have a better alternative for you.During a morning meditation with Anna Greenberg of Peloton, she talked about the mental shift of happiness being similar to walking on the sunny side of a city street. With the one side of being a bit darker and shadowed, because the sun's behind buildings, vs. the sunnier side across the street. We tend to walk on the colder, darker side when things are incredibly tough and challenging. But even that meditative shift to the sunnier side of the street brings about feelings of warmth, happiness, and light. In this episode, I share how I crossed to the sunny side amidst struggle and how you can move to the other side of the street mentally and begin to feel better immediately.

Amy talked with Democratic pollster Anna Greenberg. Anna is a senior partner of the polling firm GQR. In 2022, she polled for several high-profile House and Senate campaigns, including Senator Mark Kelly from Arizona, Senator Michael Bennett from Colorado, and Congresswoman Kim Schrier from suburban Seattle.Amy and Anna started with a conversation about why some polls, including some by Democrats, overestimated Republican strength in 2022 [01:27], and the role abortion and the Dobbs decision played for Democrat successes last year [10:19]. They also discussed 2024 and why Anna thinks regardless of who the GOP nominee may be, the Republican party remains defined by Trump [12:16].And finally, they talked about the issue of crime and how, in Anna's words, Democrats are "too scared of the left and they're too scared of the right." If you've been listening to the podcast for a while you know I love the community birth stories, so that's what we have today. We have one of our community members sharing her birth story. In this episode of Yoga| Birth| Babies I am delighted to chat with Anna Greenberg. Not only is she a member of our community having gone through her pregnancy with us but she also did our teacher training back in 2020. Anna has been teaching yoga and meditation in New York City for the past twelve years (including pre and postnatal for the past few), she's been a staple in the Peloton teaching team for the past four years. I'm very picky about whose classes I take and she absolutely is up there! She offers wonderful information and I just love taking her class. Now before she had her baby, while she was pregnant, I asked if she would she come on the podcast and share her birth story, she said absolutely. Then as she was getting closer to her birth there was some turbulence. Please note this trigger warning of stillbirth. Right as Anna was heading into her birth, her best friend had a stillborn baby. If this is something that's not going to sit well with you, I want you to know that it comes up. Anna's son Noah is fine, but we do talk about the tragedy her friend experienced. Anna shares a lot about the struggles she had at the end of her pregnancy, the struggles she had during her birth, and her postpartum. She so bravely shares her experience and what's really beautiful and the reason that she wanted to share this and I totally agree is that you can see the support she had, how she processed the experience, and how she is really doing well now. Every time I connect with her there's just joy in her voice and it's really exciting to see how someone can come out on the other side. She really has a lot to share about things she learned from her own struggles. I hope you can take away from this episode some of the strength that Anna displays in her powerful story. We've all been there before….You wake up and your emotions and thoughts are off to the races and you become the mental/emotional equivalent of the dog walker holding onto the leash trying to keep up with the gigantic dog who's chasing something. This sometimes goes on until you lay your head down that night. Just hanging on for dear life, unaware of where the hell you're going and what you're feeling from minute to minute. You feel frazzled during the day, uneasy every second, and then completely baffled at the end of the day wondering “What just happened??”I too have felt that and found myself in an exercise this morning that changed the game for me.While I have love and respect for my go-to Peloton meditation instructors Anna Greenberg, Ross Rayburn, and Kirra Michel, Aditi Shah blew my world wide open this morning. In this episode, I share the exercise that transformed my mental and emotional clarity and how I combined it with a recent article I read on how we should be more specific when describing our emotions. The pairing of these two has brought me an immense amount of joy and energy and I had to share it with you.

Subscribe now or find out more at: https://politicology.com/plus What's different about the relative handful of battleground districts that will determine the balance of power in Washington? An unconventional new poll just took a closer look at that question—and the results are surprising. (They're also instructive for operatives running competitive midterm campaigns right now.) In this TAPPED call, I talk with one of the architects of the survey, Cornell Professor Douglas Kriner. A study of more than 3000 health care leaders in Canada found that while gender parity was present, racialized executives were substantially under-represented. Diversity among health care leaders in Canada: a cross-sectional study of perceived gender and race was published in CMAJ. It found that at the ministry level fewer than 7 percent of health care leaders were racialized. The representation gap between racialized executives in healthcare and the racial demographics of the population it serves ranged from a low of 7.3% for Prince Edward Island to a high of 27.5% for Manitoba. The gap was highest in geographic locations with a greater percentage of racialized residents. On this episode, Drs. Omole and Bigham speak with the lead author of the study Anjali Sergeant, a final year medical student at McMaster University. She describes how researchers determined race, compares results in different parts of the country and discusses how closely the results of the study reflect what she is seeing in her medical school cohort.Drs Omole and Bigham also speak with Anna Greenberg, the Chief Regional Officer, Toronto and East for Ontario Health. Ms. Greenberg is also the agency's Executive Lead for Equity, Inclusion, Diversity, and Anti-Racism. She discusses the efforts her agency is making to address this disparity. She also explains why it is important for healthcare leaders to ask themselves, “Why does this matter?”
