Welcome back Badgers, Bledge and I have just got back from an excellent week in Harrogate for BTME 2023. We managed to record a few episodes which we'll release over the coming weeks, but thought we'd share with a brief overview of BTME with Jim Croxton. Jim is CEO of BIGGA - the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association. BTME is the BIGGA Turf Management Exhibition, held each year in Harrogate. As I found out over the week, it's far more than just the exhibition itself. Jim's team arrange hours of structured educational seminars and conferences, and thousands of like minds descend on Harrogate to nerd out over the golf industry. As my first time there, I thought it was absolutely wonderful. Looking forward to returning year on year. Thank you to Jim and the whole BIGGA team for looking after us. We hope you enjoy this little chat recorded on the Monday of the event. BIGGA website: https://www.bigga.org.uk BTME website: https://www.btme.org.uk/
Propellant Media is a digital advertising and geofencing marketing firm, and Justin Croxton serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the business. He has worked in marketing for over ten years and has a profound grasp of digital marketing methods. Repellent media began as an agency with one employee six years ago and has since developed into a firm with eight figures in annual revenue. Following this, he became aware of the need for programmatic display and geofencing and began providing these services to an increasing number of customers. If you are a car dealership and you want to target customers who are currently in the market wanting to purchase a vehicle, geofencing is the ideal method to achieve so. The use of geofencing is to generate engagement and awareness as a solution to the problem that it solves, which is targeting someone based on their physical location, and the places that they go.Geofencing needs to be part of your marketing plan, it can be its own penicillin from a marketing perspective. Pushing people from multiple different places to be retargeted, increases the effectiveness of your overall marketing plan. The possibilities for applications are almost endless and many different applications can be used. They do stray away from e-commerce stores or SAS because geofencing is the top middle of funnel awareness, building engagement and not generating leads. They do event targeting for B2B. Brands that are presenting at conferences, car dealerships, or brick-and-mortar retail locations. You want to be able to measure the people who click on your ads from the geofencing locations and come back to your store. You should look for the audience that has the greatest, most specific goal, and then figure out how to reach them in a variety of various settings. According to Justin, they are able to restrict particular mobile applications and websites and even direct consumers to Facebook and Instagram after they have seen an advertisement on their own site. Monitoring the number of people who see the advertisements, click on those advertisements, and then visited their actual locations. If you think in terms of the top, the middle, or the bottom of the funnel, bottom funnels will typically be your Google Ads, maybe Facebook site retargeting. Geofencing may be some Google display keyword, or contextual search targeting in the middle of the funnel. The top of the funnel might be tv, radio, or print. Programmatic display is at the top of the funnel where you just want to let people know within your target audience that you exist. Put most of your money towards the lower funnel and layer what's going to continue to feed people down that funnel. Try to find that audience with the highest intent hit them in multiple different arenas, and that's what they're there to accomplish. The fact that advertising is concerned with inventory, finances, and communications makes it one of the most intriguing fields. The true talent of advertising creatives lies in their ability to tie it all together to create a cohesive message. Elevate your consciousness in marketing, geofencing, and OTT advertising and gain value for your business. In this episode:[02:26] When Justin started to focus on one area of geofencing advertising and realized there aren't a lot of people playing in the spaceThe type of execution that they had to do for themselvesHow easy it is to get into the digital marketing space[05:49] Having experience in a particular area and getting many clients in that spaceGrow an agency relatively quickly and offer a lot of different servicesBeing the solution to the problem that it solves and targeting someone based on their physical location[10:05] Being able to measure the people who click on your ads from geofencing...

Have you ever been driving and gotten a notification on your phone about a sale going on at a store near you? That's thanks to geofencing, a technology that uses GPS or RFID to create a virtual fence around a specific area. Once you enter that area, you can start receiving notifications about deals, events, or anything else that's happening in that area. Geofencing is a powerful marketing tool because it allows businesses to target their customers with pinpoint accuracy. By using geofencing, businesses can send messages to people who are currently in their store, or who are within a certain radius of their store. This makes it the perfect tool for local businesses who want to drive traffic to their store. For example, let's say you're a restaurant owner and you want to offer a special deal to people who are currently in your restaurant. You can use geofencing to send them a notification about the deal right on their phones. Or let's say you're a retailer and you want to offer free shipping to people who are within 10 miles of your store. You can use geofencing to do that too! The possibilities are endless, and geofencing is quickly becoming one of the most popular tools in marketing. Justin Croxton is the CEO of propellant media, a digital advertising and tech company, based out of Atlanta and Charlotte, specializing in geofencing. Visit Propellant Media

Whether you run a golf course, a brewery or another craft beverage company, you’ll make most of your money from local customers. People on the other side of the country won’t walk into your taproom anytime soon. Marketing to them is a waste of money. And if you don’t have the budget of a big corporation, you can’t afford to waste your dollars on people who never show up in person. In this episode, you’ll hear about a cutting-edge marketing technology called Geofencing. With Geofencing, you market only to the people in your area who want what you have—the people who’ll walk into your door. Today’s guest Justin Croxton does Geofencing for his clients and shows you how to reach more of the customers you want to meet. Ready to stop wasting your budget on customers you’ll never meet? Listen now! Show highlights include: If a marketing agency can tell you this, sign their contract. (7:25) The easiest “quick win” marketing tactic you can execute now (it costs 3x less than other marketing campaigns). (11:05) Why a windfall of highly targeted traffic can be worthless. (15:36) How geofencing gets the competition’s customers to come to you. (19:40) The “ROI myth” that kills marketing results. (21:36) Why your brewery needs an online shop. (26:50) 3 marketing assets you should’ve built 5 years ago—build them now. (28:46) An easy and free way to find out what your customers want from you. In The Music Real E38, our special guest today is Simone Ubaldi, booker for The Croxton in Thornbury and the co-director of the Save Our Scene campaign. Melbourne boasts more live music venues per capita than any other city in the world. Pushworth is based in Brisbane, however we work with many independent operators – bookers and venues in Victoria for our National Tours. Here we are, its 2020 and the ability for people in the Events, Hospitality and Music industries to run their businesses and earn a living has been severely hampered by the COVID-19 shutdown and ensuing restrictions. It takes a village to grow this industry. When I say village – venue bookers, promoters, production companies, ticketing companies, musicians, agents, artist managers, hospitality and bar staff, security, technicians and a range of suppliers and contractors whose livelihoods depend on producing that event. And these are the people that can no longer earn an income. Today’s episode might be a little bit different than all of the previous ones. Still, it is as insightful as ever, especially because I am joined by the mastermind behind the Keto Kamp movement. I am humbled to be joined by Sean Croxton, a podcast host, author, entrepreneur, and prosperity teacher. I followed his growth and career for the past 8 years, most especially when he still hosts the Underground Wellness Radio, one of the internet’s most popular health podcasts. During his seven years with Underground Wellness, Sean penned the still-popular Dark Side of Fat Loss ebook, started the JERF (Just Eat Real Food) movement, and hosted seven online summit events, including The Thyroid Sessions, Digestion Sessions, and The Depression Sessions. Now, Sean is the host of The Quote of The Day Show, the #1 daily motivational podcast, featuring short inspirational teachings from the best of the best speakers. He is also the creator of Money Mind Academy, an 8-week course that will completely change your relationship with money. In this episode, Sean shares the story of how his hardwork and determination got him to where he is today. He also explained the science behind developing a habit while we dive deep into physiology, neurocardiology, brain chemistry and how it is connected with your keto diet and fasting. Tune in! In this episode, you'll discover: [00:55] Sean Croxton, the early years Sean’s mother worked three jobs. By the time he wakes up in the morning, his mom is already at work. When he goes to bed at night, his mom is still at work. “If I didn’t have that experience of living at the poverty line, I probably wouldn’t have the value that I have on abundance.” His early years was a great learning experience for him. It showed him the value of earning money. It showed him the freedom of earning money. It showed him that in order to have more money, you gotta do more service. [8:18] The audio clip that helped changed Sean’s life In November of 2009, his friend, Antonio, sent him an audio clip of John Demartini. “The amount of money that you have will always be in direct proportion to the quality and quantity of the service you provide.” [17:10] After graduating from college, Sean became a personal trainer. His uncle and his aunt were his biggest influences on why he took health in college. As a personal trainer, Sean had to build up the courage to talk to people when suffering with social anxiety. He had his first panic attack while doing some personal training. His doctor prescribed him Prozac but what he really wanted was Paxil. While training his last client, he found himself in the midst of a “Prozac-induced” panic attack. His social anxiety isn't completely gone and Sean's ok with that. He prefers to call it introversion. [22:32] Back in 2008, Sean launched his first show, Underground Wellness Radio. The podcast ran for 7 years and he released 348 episodes over this period of time. Surprising to most, in 2015 Sean closed up shop with his brand Underground Wellness. “Passions have seasons, and all seasons eventually come to an end.” - Lisa Nichols Sean felt that his passion for interviewing health experts is over. [26:08] The importance of passion and loving what you do for a living If you are not living according to your highest values, it means you are not really living. You are living by social idealisms. You are living by something outside of you. Life is too short for that. A lot of us are trapped in the ‘how’ When you are fully aligned with your values, the ‘how’ just shows up. [27:23] Sean's motivational influences after shutting down Underground Wellness Sean was super deep into reading books by John F. Demartini. Books by Demartini: How to Make One Hell of a Profit and Still Get to Heaven The Breakthrough Experience The Gratitude Effect The Values Factor He also read books by Bob Proctor. Books by Bob Proctor: You Were Born Rich The Art of Living Sean dived deep into physiology, neuroscience and brain chemistry. On his new YouTube Channel, Mind Kamp, he flipped the focus to personal development with a sprinkle of health. [31:22] Neurocardiology: Interaction between the brain and the heart In the communication between the brain and the heart, 90% of it goes from the heart to the brain. There’s a little brain inside our hearts that stores information, memories, personalities, etc. Our hearts are our point of attraction. Heart rate variability is the physiological phenomenon of variation in the time interval between heartbeats. We don’t want these to be to low. That would mean we are unhealthy. Emotions dictate your heart rate variability. Measure your heart rate variability through: Oura Ring emWave2 [34:11] Adding love and gratitude into your keto diet and fasting Meditation comes a long way. emWave2: emWave 2 helps with the analysis of HRV that reflects heart-brain interaction and autonomic nervous system dynamics, which are particularly sensitive to changes in your emotional state. emWave2 technology is based on "the coherence breakthrough". Coherence is a state of synchronization between your heart, brain and autonomic nervous system which has been proven to have numerous mental, emotional and physical benefits. [36:44] Your brain is the record of the past The past is literally composed of electrical current that flows in your brain. These electrical thoughts become your biochemical feelings. How to change these wirings? 1. Relax Get out of the high beta brain wave state. Calm down and get into the alpha creative state. 2. Do your meditation. AND MUCH MORE! Often on this podcast, I share a wide-ranging conversation with my guest and we bounce around a little bit, even though we are focused on an overall theme. This episode is a little bit different. We going to deep-dive into just one subject: geofencing. For some in our business who aren’t digital natives, reaching an audience through new technologies like geofencing may seem complicated. When I started the business while still in college, it was all about print, radio, and TV. Now, I turn around without bumping into a new delivery channel or technology, like geofencing. On episode #162 of the Build a Better Agency podcast, my guest is Justin Croxton. He is the director of sales at Propellant Media, where they serve clients with location-specific methods like geofencing. Their clients are mostly SMBs in both B2B and B2C categories. IN our conversation, Justin compares getting fluent with geofencing as similar to becoming proficient in AdWords. Justin didn’t start his career in the agency business, but about three or four years ago, partnered with some colleagues to form Propellant, where the main product is inbound and technology-driven solutions for clients. What You Will Learn About in This Episode: The difference between beacon notification and geofencing notifications How to build conversion zones using geofencing Getting over the “minimum spend” hurdle in geofence ad buying Why you should consider coupling geofencing with search retargeting How to create the right digital marketing mix with geofencing as a key ingredient How to target the right people within a geofence with your marketing message Ways you can keep up the messaging (or not) once someone leaves a geofenced zone The digital mechanics of how geofencing interacts with apps and sites on your phone How geofencing works in the B2B space Why it’s not complicated for agencies to enter the geofencing space Ways to contact Justin Croxton: Website: www.propellant.media LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/justincroxton We’re proud to announce that Hubspot is now the presenting sponsor of the Build A Better Agency podcast! Many thanks to them for their support!

The Agents of Change: SEO, Social Media, and Mobile Marketing for Small Business
Businesses are always looking to find creative ways to target their audience, and geo-fencing fits that role perfectly. By setting up a geo-fence - or a virtual boundary - it allows businesses to access mobile device user’s WiFi/cell date/GPS to trigger push notifications, text messages, alerts, and even targeted advertisements, to deliver location-based marketing data. Think of the possibilities. As a business you have the ability to potentially reach customers when they enter one of your competitor’s businesses and hit them with an offer they can’t refuse. You can literally aim your ads to customize your audience’s local needs, and this is key for not only sales but for customer retention as well. https://www.theagentsofchange.com/246

Propellant Media, a digital marketing and media solutions provider, is helping clients maximize lead potential with the newest wave of target marketing – geofencing technology. Geofencing technology, or location based advertising, allows users to pinpoint target audiences based on precise locations. Sounds invasive? Think again. Justin Croxton, Director of Sales at Propellant Media, explains why this is an acceptable and widely sought after marketing technique. Croxton shares how doctors, political organizations, trade associations and even non-profits are using geofencing to capture their audience. The way it works: A virtual geofence is drawn around a location where an advertiser wants to build an audience based on their visit to that particular location (think hospital, tradeshow, etc). This can be narrowed down to a set, scheduled timeframe. When people enter that place of business/certain location they are then part of an audience that can be targeted. As the “target” visits apps on his or her phone or is on the internet they will begin to see ads related to the advertiser. Geofencing is the type of innovative tool taking targeted marketing to the next level. Specializing in new media production, creative direction, and outside-the-box thinking, Propellant is a leader in niche marketing specialist. Health Coaching is a tremendously valuable service. We are changing peoples lives for the better by coaching them to better health. So why are a lot of health coaches not getting paid accordingly? The sad truth is that we are all driving the price of our services WAY down. Sean Croxton joins the show to discuss this unfortunate trend. Bay Work. With Oysters. Welcome to my conversation with Travis Croxton of Rappahannock Oyster Company, who, along with brother Ryan, has helped bring the long and storied tradition of Virginia Chesapeake Bay oysters back into the spotlight. From one small grill at Merroir in Topping, Virginia these brothers have built a restaurant empire, one that's growing all the time. From RockSalt in Charlottesville to their newest addition Rapp Session in Richmond, Rappahannock Oyster now has eight restaurants, including one in Los Angeles that opens in November. World domination is officially underway. The Croxtons are 4th-generation oyster farmers, going back to the 1800's. The story of his family's agricultural origins was fascinating and made me grateful these two brothers are carrying on such an important legacy. Their logo was created using the signature of one of their ancestors and the paperwork for the land grant for the oyster farm hangs in one of their restaurants. A terrific idea, including story into your business. What advice does he have for new business owners? Listen to learn more! For decades the Virginia oyster was nothing but a myth. Overfishing and bad farming practices had driven them almost to extinction. In New York they are extinct. Those fancy New York Blue Points? They come from Virginia and have since the 1800's. Luckily, good farming practices have brought these beauties back and it's a good thing. Oysters are excellent filters. Farming them keeps sediment in place and creates a biodiverse ecosystem. They act as an environmental cornerstone much like coral reefs. When oysters were overfished the bay became incredibly polluted with dead zones where the sun couldn't penetrate which meant many fish died. Today, if you visit the Croxton's farm, the water is so clear you can see straight to the bottom. "I tell people, we have the cleanest waters in the country, especially the Rappahannock. There's no town, no city on it, it's all forested." A working oyster farm like Rappahannock includes long lines, lead lines, and underwater cages, each one holding about 2,000 adult oysters, which mature in about 18 months to two years. A tumbling process hardens the shell and makes the cup deeper for a meatier oyster. Once mature, oysters are brought in for husbandry, separation into size and class. Other farms use floating cages but the Croxtons are cognizant of homeowners who'd rather not have their bucolic view of "The Rivah" spoiled. This farm not only produces a delicious product but provides jobs to folks in an area that desperately needs them. On farming: "We're doing it in rural, economically challenged areas...just recently it dawned on us that we're actually creating a lot of jobs and good work tracks for people...if they show up on time for a year or so we put them on salary and give them benefits, and give them a career path. It's not just food benefits, and health benefits to the Chesapeake but the local economy...A lot of kids go to college and never come back...we're trying to reverse that trend." Oysters have their own Merrior and Rapphannock's are no exception. The minerality of river flows down from the Blue Ridge add taste, as does the salinity of the ocean. The type of algae they eat affects taste. All of this impacts flavor and the water conditions impact the hardness of the shell and the way it's shaped. Like wine, there isn't just one oyster variety. Chincoteague oysters are going to taste dramatically different from river oysters because of merroir. Dramatically different flavor profiles they can showcase to chefs interested in their product. On their beginnings, "We need to not only resurrect our Rappahannock farm, but we need to showcase a couple of other (oyster) locations and show the world that we are the Napa Valley of oysters." The story of how they got chefs interested is downright mythic. They looked up the best restaurant in New York according to Zagat, and arrived at Le Benardin with a cooler between them. Chef Eric Ripert became an instant fan and began serving Rappahannock oysters in his restaurant. "We had our first sales in the #1 restaurant in the country at the time. And we had no idea what we were doing...to this day chefs like Jen Carroll tell us, 'I remember when you guys walked into our kitchen. You guys were dumbasses!' We didn't even know how to shuck oysters back then." Chefs have been key to getting the word out. Each chef at every Rappahannock Oyster Company restaurant is so talented, many nationally renowned, and all of them put their own special twist on how they prepare these beauties. If you've had the Lambs and Clams at RockSalt or the Oyster Bourride at Rapphannock, you certainly know what I'm talking about. How can you shuck an oyster without cutting off a finger? What's the best way to store them? What is a spat? How do oysters spawn? Has consumption changed over the centuries? Are oyster farms affected by weather? Hurricanes? What are the origins of their famous Lambs and Clams? Did you know each restaurant makes this dish but does it a little differently? All the more reason to visit every restaurant in the Croxton kingdom. The next time you travel down to "The Rivah" and take in its crystal clear beauty, thank an oyster. Then get yourself to one of the Croxton restaurants. You can enjoy oysters there and even pick some up to take home! They also sell them on their website. Whether they're raw, roasted, grilled, steamed, fried, or in a stew, it's good stuff. This episode made me SO hungry! Cheers! Jason Croxton is Navajo. Currently he serves as an in-house attorney for the Wild Horse Pass Development Authority. The authority is an enterprise of the Gila River Indian Community. He has a great job, but it has not come without hard work and dedication. In this episode, we talk not only about his personal story, but about what it really means when things “align” for someone. Alignment does not happen on its own. Some magical energy in the universe does not magically clear the path for you. You do. It takes hard work, focus, dedication. It means overcoming challenges, learning from mistakes, and growing as a person. And rarely do things “align” without some help and/or luck along the way. The key for things to align is to be prepared. Jason made a great point in the interview when he said that opportunity favors preparation. Jason started his bachelors degree the University of Arizona. While working through college to help pay his tuition, he ended up focusing more on work and ended up taking some time off from school. He spent more than two years in the restaurant industry. Eventually he worked his way up to head bartender. Ultimately, he re-enrolled at Arizona State University, focusing on Housing and Community Development. Eventually, he earned his law degree from Arizona State University. Jason has a great story, and the conversation includes great insight into planning a career. We go deep in this episode, and it is worth it. ## Subscribe to the Podcast iTunes Stitcher RSS Like on Facebook Follow on Twitter ## Other Links Passive cooling/heating NAHASDA (Native American Housing and Self-Determination Act) National American Indian Housing Council LSAT University of New Mexico School of Law University of Arizona School of Law Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts Pre-Law Summer Institute Council on Legal Education Opportunity Bill Cornelius Episode WINS Sheraton Wildhorse Pass WhirlWind Golf
I had the honor of interviewing Sean Croxton from Underground Wellness on this debut episode of Paleo, Love & Transformation. Sean shares his story of overcoming social anxiety and depression with a combination of real food, a radical mindset shift, and getting out of isolation and into a community. We discuss what's right and wrong with the healthy eating and healthcare system, the importance of keeping your approach to diet REAL and SIMPLE or J.E.R.F: Just Eat Real Food. Super-fun, super-informative, super-de-dooper.
Here's the second episode on the Top 40 List! As you know, I'm HUGE on mindset. Each month I'll be going solo to bring you some of the biggest / most impactful / personal development ideas and practices. I hope you get something out of this week's session as I go through my top 8 things I learned about Business & Passion in 2012. Success leaves clues. Why take one new massive goals when you haven’t even reflected upon this past year’s success? I guess that’s why I’ve never been good nor seen the point with “New Years Resolutions”. If you want to replicate ANY form of success, you need to REFLECT on WHY and HOW you were successful. It is for this reason I feel that it’s much more important to reflect upon what you’ve learned over the past year. It’s in the reflection that we are reminded of life’s lessons. As always: can’t WAIT to hear your feedback at the end! Which lessons did you connect with? Where in your life did you experience something similar? Real quick: I’d also like to note that I’m in no way trying to sound preachy. These are as much reminders for myself to look back on throughout the years as they are to you! May we all get something out of these! STOKED! Top 8 Things I Learned About: Passion / Business9. ABSOLUTE ABS Launching a business / product is HARRRDD! SHIT! I had no idea how much time / effort this would all be. Hiring a programmer, web developer, online banker, videographer, producer, camera man (YOU’RE MY MAN HARRY!), Film editor, graphic designer, AND writing / creating the program. WHEW! Glad that’s done! HOWEVER! SO thankful that I’ve learned how to do it all so I can be better prepared for the next products! Thanks for the support on Absolute Abs guys! www.Absolute-Abs-Workout.com (had to plug it). 10. TWO ULTIMATE RESOURCES Time and money. Ultimately, you’re time is more valuable. You have to choose which one of the two you want to spend. The other will suffer. Spending all those hours editing / producing Absolute Abs saved me thousands, however my whole summer was spent a slave to Final Cut Pro! 11. DHARMA This one could go in any category really. Dharma a concept I ripped of Deepak Chopra’s must read: “The Seven Laws of Spiritual Success”. The seventh law is the law of Dharma. Basically Dharma is a concept that we are ALL put here for a unique purpose. The “Universe” or “God” or “Creator” (whatever you want to label it) NEVER duplicates. Each and every one of us were given unique talents / gifts. By not fully using those gifts or fully expressing yourself you do a disservice to yourself, but more importantly everyone else who could of benefited from them! My English teacher would kill me for that run on sentence, but you get the point! Dharma. Powerful stuff! 12. EVERYTHING IS CREATED TWICE. Once in your mind, and once in reality! This is the concept of blueprinting! We gotta give ourselves permission to dream big and think even bigger! Once you’ve created something in your mind, all that’s left is to get a M.A.P. or “Massive Action Plan.” Take action and manifest that blueprint into a reality! Dream it up peeps! 13. EARN A DEGREE IN G.S.D: GET SHIT DONE Sometimes you just need a degree in G.S.D or “Getting Shit Done!” Turn the distractions off, lock yourself down, and make a to-do list. GSD! Oh and shout out to my roommate / best friend Harry with this one! 14. OUTSOURCE If you want to be a millionaire, then you need to stop doing $10/hour tasks! Word. Sri Lanka does great work as does South Africa! Elance.com has saved me SO MUCH MONEY. Tim Ferris thought me this one for sure. Not just in business, but in every area of your life. There’s only so much time that we have. What’s the 5% of things that you and ONLY you can do? Do them and outsource the rest. 15. START & STOP “What’s the #1 thing you should START doing. What’s the #1 thing you should STOP doing?” Hands down, one of the BEST questions I ask myself whenever I’m feeling off-task or off-centered. It’s not surprising at all how many times the answer has been some form of social media…. What a time-eater facebook is, good God! 16. GIVE GIVE GIVE I said it last year, but it’s worth repeating. THE SECRET TO LIVING IS GIVING Thanks for the support guys! As always, head over to www.ClarkDanger.com to get the full top 40 list.
