There's no better co-host for this, since, well...Emily and I watch more shows together than we do with anyone else, obviously. Given that spaghetti westerns and action/adventure flicks rarely have much to offer as far as dudes and chicks getting together, luckily Emily gets her turn every once in a while at having me sit through one of her "chick flicks". As a dating/relationship specialist, this is where the true "research" is, so I probably don't mind watching them as much as some other guys might.  So here's the deal, skip every rom-com with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore , Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson, or Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan because they all follow the same formula. We also spared you another commentary on either Titanic or The Notebook. Instead, we start off by going after the Taylor Sheridan universe. We cover Rip and Beth from Yellowstone, Spencer and Alex from 1923, and pretty much every interesting couple in Landman. Then we get to: Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake in Friends With Benefits, Brett Goldstein and Juno Temple in Ted Lasso, Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek in Fools Rush In, Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn in Overboard, Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd in Moonlighting, Tom Cruise and Renee Zellweger in Jerry Maguire, and several other "surprise" mentions. I start this episode with a recent trip to the bank where I almost got robbed. I talk about withdrawing cash, suspecting a security guard was involved, and being followed by a woman in a van. It all led to a tense situation and subsequent police involvement as I navigated what felt like a targeted setup.Then I get into my personal updates regarding addiction and withdrawal, including recent nerve injections. I reflect on the severe realities of withdrawal and discuss the alarming rise in overdose deaths related to fentanyl and new synthetic opioids.I also touch on a Bush concert back in 1996, the "Big Five" personality traits, Dana Bash's perceived bias, a past safari trip in Zambia, an Adam Sandler comedy bit, and so much more.

I really can't believe how much I used to love the band KORN in my youth. I mean they are legitimately horrible. It's not good at all. It's barely music, yet at one point, I believed they were speaking directly to my soul. Every time I make Sloppy Joes, I sing "Lunchlady Land" by Adam Sandler. I truly think they won't taste as good if I don't do this. It's science. I love when people say "have you ever seen that episode of the Simpsons...?" The show has been on for a hundred years and I truthfully never thought it was that great to begin with.  I find people that reference The Simpsons and Family Guy alot are people I have zero interest in spending alot of time around. They make me want to eat shards of broken glass. I'm really hooked on the show Furious on Hulu right now. Great show. Check it out. Thanks for listening! At a yard sale in Malvern, Iowa, one of us asked the woman running it about old cameras, and her husband climbed into the rafters of his barn and came down with a dusty 8x10 view camera, which he gave us. The bellows are full of holes and there's no lens, so it needs a restorer. One of us has been in a creative flood for 3 months and fears that if he stops, it all stops; the other's momentum feels more like a frenzy. The one in the flood passes on an idea he heard: the obstacles are the path itself, and each one is a chance to be creative.An Instagram video mocking cliché photographs, like a faded pink door on a brick wall, gave one of us a small crisis, since he's taken plenty of those. Whatever you've scrolled past, we agree, steers your eye. Martin Scorsese started with about 40 years of film history to absorb, and anyone starting now has 130, which one of us calls an advantage. Brian Eno played Fela Kuti for Talking Heads as they made Remain in Light, and it changed the record. Near the end come Eno's Oblique Strategies cards, which one of us has put on his website. Nothing brings a morning show together quite like football, competition and immediately arguing over whether one member of the team's score should even count.Episode 101 kicks off with the crew sorting through their Seahawks picks and realizing Devon's presence has created a strategic probem in the season-long competition against The Fast Lane. If one team has an extra player, does Devon's score count? Do they add somebody to the other side? Take the best five scores? Pretend nobody thought about this until the season had already started?All excellent questions. Very few useful answers.What we do know is that Rizz is technically sitting in first place, Moon is second, Lern is third, Rafe is behind them, and Devon's zero becomes the center of a debate that feels significantly more serious than the actual stakes deserve. Moon circles practically the entire Sandler cinematic universe without landing on Big Daddy.Deep Purple becomes even more painful. Moon rattles through Blue October, Green Day, Blue Öyster Cult and The White Stripes, at one point getting tantalizingly close with “deep blue something.” Deep Purple was sitting right there, waving at him from across the room.Ray and Moon lose together. Friendship through mutual disappointment.Next up, Victoria is paired with Devon for categories including a famous person named Mike, a microwave food brand and something with a handle. Victoria chooses Mike Tyson, Banquet and a pitcher.Devon immediately says Mike Myers…and then discovers that apparently every other famous Mike has been temporarily deleted from her brain.Fortunately, “TV dinner” is close enough to Banquet for the crew to show mercy, and Devon somehow lands on coffee cup for something with a handle — remarkably close to Victoria's pitcher and enough to prove once again that Devon can be sneakily dangerous in these games even while claiming she knows only one Mike.Finally, Rizz enters isolation for the last round.His caller chooses Dr. Strange for a famous fictional doctor, Frosted Flakes for a breakfast cereal and Lex Luthor for a famous bald person.Rizz tears through Dr. Dolittle, Dr. Seuss, Dr. Feelgood, Dr. Frank-N-Furter and Doctor Octopus without finding Doctor Strange. Then he absolutely crushes Frosted Flakes on his first try, setting up one final category for the win.Name a famous bald person.Vin Diesel.The Rock.Bruce Willis.Howie Mandel.Jason Statham.All extremely bald. All extremely famous. All completely wrong.The answer was Lex Luthor.That leads to the perfectly reasonable postgame argument over whether “famous bald person” should cause a human being to think of an actual celebrity or a fictional supervillain. Technically Lex Luthor is famous. Technically the caller followed the rules. Emotionally devastating.Today's show somehow raises the stakes by presenting the crew with the investment opportunity of a lifetime: the Bunny Ranch legacy portfolio in Nevada for roughly $34 million.Suddenly Rizz and the gang are analyzing brothel real estate, acreage, branding, financials and whether the oldest profession might be recession-proof. Moon explains why using birds as an alarm eventually trained his brain to associate actual birds with going to work, which feels like an unnecessary punishment for both Moon and nature.From there, Rizz introduces the cheerful morning topic of whether AI could eventually pose an existential threat to humanity.The crew dives into warnings surrounding increasingly powerful artificial intelligence, self-improving systems, oversight, regulation, infrastructure and the difference between AI actively hating humans and simply not caring about us at all. Terminator gets mentioned, obviously, but the scarier discussion is whether something vastly more intelligent than humans could eventually treat us the way humans treat an anthill sitting where we want to build a highway.You know.
