This week's learning is sponsored by Nira Feldman in loving memory of her mother Faye Darack z"l. "A devoted Hadran learner, she approached each day with a renewed curiosity to learn and grow, she continues to inspire us each day." Today's daf is sponsored by Phyllis & Yossie Hecht in loving memory of Phyllis’s father’s, HaRav Yerachmiel Binyanim ben Zalman Tzvi Witkin on his 16th yahrzeit, “Jerry Witkin, the יושר לב, חבר לכל רואך וכל כך שמח בחלקו. We can only imagine the pride Dad must feel peeking down on his impactful legacy of 6 children, 28 grandchildren and continuous growth of great-grandchildren living lives of Am Yisrael b'Eretz Yisrael im Torat Yisrael! Dad, you are so missed and we have been so blessed. Yehi Zichro Baruch.” Today’s daf is sponsored by Rabbi Art Gould in loving memory of Carol’s mother, Irma Robinson, Hudda Bat Moshe on her 8th yahrzeit. “Irma built a rich life in the Chicago area. She loved to have the family over for special events. Sadly, four years after she was widowed, Irma developed Alzheimer’s. Carol and her sister Debbie were blessed that though her illness progressed, she never forgot who they were.” She and Carol are together in a different world, and this dedication will always remain the same. Today's daf is sponsored by Naomi Cohen. "Mazal Tov to Jack, Rivka, Itzik and Yoni on the birth of a daughter and sister, Elisheva bat Yaakov v'Rivka, Ella - with love from Mum and Dad/Savta and Sabba." Assumptions are made about a rebellious child regarding the course his future will take and therefore he is killed to prevent him from sinning further. Similar assumptions are also made regarding a robber - the assumption is that a robber will come to kill if the owner of the house stands up against the robber, and therefore it is permitted to kill a robber. The Gemara discusses the circumstances in which one can assume the robber is coming to kill. Additionally, if at the time of the robbery the robber is viewed as a pursuer, there is a "death penalty" on the robber. Therefore, the robber is exempt from damages caused to property because of the law that if one incurs two punishments simultaneously, one is exempt from the more lenient one. Rav takes this even further to say a robber who can be killed is exempt from returning the stolen items. Rava disagrees and only exempts the robber if the item is broken or gone. Our Mishna is brought to support Rava's interpretation. Another source is brought to raise a difficulty against Rava's position. The difficulty is resolved. Other drashot are brought on the verses regarding robbery, including laws that one can even kill a robber on Shabbat, in any way they want, and anyone can kill the robber, not only the one being robbed. Two different drashot highlight why the verse specifically brought the example of a robber in a machteret, i.e. breaking in, even though the law would also apply to one who climbs up to the roof or enters the courtyard (easily). One explains that it is the typical manner of robbers, while the other learns from here that one who breaks in is already considered forewarned and no warning is necessary before killing the robber. Rav Huna rules that a minor pursuer can be killed as well, as there is no need for a warning. Rav Chisda raised a difficulty from a Mishna in Ohalot 7:6 that if the mother's life is endangered during childbirth, if the head has emerged, one cannot kill the baby to save the mother, even if the baby is acting like a pursuer. The resolution is that the baby is not intending to kill the mother, as it is an act of God. In the earlier part of that Mishna it is explained that before the head has emerged, one can abort the fetus if it is causing risk to the mother, as the life of the mother takes precedence to an unborn fetus. A braita is brought to support Rav Huna's position and another is brought to contradict. However, both are rejected as inconclusive.

I'm not the smartest developer or DBA. I find myself mystified at times by Itzik's posts on T-SQL queries and I'm amazed at times by the complex systems that I see the DCAC people put together. I can usually figure things out (sometimes by asking the authors a question), but it's not always easy to do. We have some truly gifted, incredibly intelligent people in this business. I am, however, effective. I have been very successful in my career at getting things done well enough, things that work well, meet the needs of my client/employer, and meeting deadlines. I don't just slap things together, but think about them, build them, test them (don't forget this), and then make sure they're working when they're deployed. Read the rest of Effective Engineering
Welcome to another episode of Category Visionaries — the show that explores GTM stories from tech's most innovative B2B founders. In today's episode, we're speaking with Itzik Alvas, CEO & Co-Founder of Entro Security, a non-human identity management platform that has raised $24 Million in funding. Here are the most interesting points from our conversation: Military Experience Taught Perseverance: Itzik credits his time in the Israeli Defense Force, specifically in the cyber intelligence unit, for shaping his approach to perseverance. This has been crucial in overcoming challenges as an entrepreneur. Non-Human Identity Management Innovation: After multiple cybersecurity breaches in his previous roles, Itzik identified a massive gap in managing non-human identities and secrets. This personal experience directly led to the creation of Entro Security. Early Days Post-Seed Raise: The first few months after securing seed funding were highly operational—setting up offices, building the team, and finding early design partners to provide feedback on their solution. Creating a New Market Category: Entro Security is pioneering the non-human identity management space, addressing the growing issue of programmatic credentials that are often mishandled by DevOps teams, posing significant security risks. Unique, Memorable Branding: Unlike traditional cybersecurity companies, Entro's branding is youthful, fun, and memorable, a conscious choice to stand out in an industry that often feels sterile and overly serious. Go-To-Market Approach: Entro's sales efforts are focused on direct sales and channel partnerships, with a primary focus on the US market. Itzik emphasizes the importance of aligning go-to-market strategies with event participation based on specific goals like lead generation or brand awareness. // Sponsors: Front Lines — We help B2B tech companies launch, manage, and grow podcasts that drive demand, awareness, and thought leadership. www.FrontLines.io The Global Talent Co. — We help tech startups find, vet, hire, pay, and retain amazing marketing talent that costs 50-70% less than the US & Europe. www.GlobalTalent.co

However, our understanding of the ecological forces driving that double benefit is limited and the natural variation is huge with a five fold difference in methane emissions from animals in the same herd. Itzik Mizrahi is a microbial ecologist studying the ecological and evolutionary forces that shape microbial communities in nature and specifically, in gut environments. His work investigating the ecology of rumen microbiome focuses on understand the cooperative and antagonistic interactions between species with the aim of improving food security and minimizing the environmental impacts of livestock production.Microbes are everywhere and the Mizrahi Lab studies what makes them live together.I recently caught up with Itzik to hear more about his work, you can listen to a short summary followed by our full conversation here.

If you were told the word "Italy," what words come to mind? Pasta, beautiful, or cobblestones perhaps? If you were told the word China, perhaps you'd think of The Great Wall, The Yangtze River, or Chinese food. But when people think of Israel, what words come to mind? Even among Jews, Israel is often associated with anti-Israel disinformation. How did anti-Israel groups brand Israel so successfully, and what should be Israel's brand in return? Hi-tech, cherry tomatoes, or something else? In this week's episode of The Honest Report podcast, we sit down with Itzik Yarkoni, founder of BOMAH (Brand of Milk & Honey) for his take on what branding means, and how Israel's opponents have been successful, and how he thinks Israel should brand itself. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thehonestreport/message

We review some interesting statistics about how many queer people still hold the faith. You might be surprised by the facts! Finally, we talk with pastor Jordan Floro (@jordanfloro), neighbor, good guy, and modern church leader. Listen while he acknowledges the less-than-inclusive queer experience with church and what he thinks about the issue. So, how does a professional basketball player become president/CEO of a fintech payments company? Well, he's 6'8" with a passion for solving problems and a love for transformative technology. PayZen President and CEO Itzik Cohen is on a very bold mission to revolutionize the healthcare payments industry. How? The mission-driven goal of PayZen is to underwrite each individual customer into a payments plan they can afford in order to maintain standard healthcare and make good health more accessible to everyone. According to Itzik, the U.S. sustains a revolving balance of approximately $330 billion in annual unpaid medical bills. The only thing more shocking than this is a $1.2 trillion in out-of-pocket healthcare expense.PayZen utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to underwrite each patient for the most affordable plan to enable maximum payment success. This includes understanding predictive loss rates per customer, so the provider is always guaranteed their fair share. Their focus is on elective procedures and the business model is the industry leader in “care now, pay later” healthcare. According Itzik, PayZen's NorthStar is the capacity to approve 100% of patients with no interest charge and no fees. Not to mention, they hold the financial responsibility for any losses they may incur. How do they do this? Their technology forward approach gives them that much confidence in their ability to underwrite each case successfully, ensuring minimum financial loss and maximum payment remittance.Tune in this week to hear how transformative technology has revolutionized the debt elimination industry, how industry leader PayZen is currently managing a 5000% projected growth rate, and where Itzik sees the industry in the next 2-3 years – including what it looks like to take the providers out of the business of providing finance.
Healthcare can be pretty expensive, but what if we told you there's affordable access to it in the market? In this episode, we chat with Itzik Cohen, a serial entrepreneur, co-founder, and CEO of PayZen, about how he's creating more opportunities to access care for families and patients, how they're encouraging people to get services without the fear of not having enough to pay it, Through a B2B2C business model, PayZen gives families affordable options to avoid medical debt. Itzik shares the challenges they face as a company, the different models and ways to pay providers for care throughout the patient journey, and how they've come to a healthy midpoint where everyone wins. We are to believe that, no matter what anyone says, we can always be helped with whatever issue we are having, because we have Hashem and He can do anything. As much as it may appear that people are sophisticated and seem to know everything, in truth, we are very small and know very little. With all of our advanced technology, we were completely humbled this past year by the virus that Hashem sent to the world. Recently, a large cargo ship was stuck in the Suez Canal for almost a week, blocking hundreds of other ships trying to deliver billions of dollars of merchandise. There were constant attempts being made to free that ship using all different kinds of powerful tugboats, but nothing worked, until Hashem brought the high tide which finally extricated that enormous ship. We are very small and Hashem is very big. Sometimes people are told by doctors that they will never be healed, or that they will never have a child. Emunah teaches us there is no such thing as never. It’s nothing for Hashem to help. We just need that the circumstances should be right for us for Him to come and help. Usually, the circumstances become right when we change ourselves or do a great deed with self-sacrifice. Then, we are able to break decrees and bring down beracha. A year and a half ago, Mr. and Mrs. Itzik and Efrat Churi went to Rav Chaim Kanievsky, shlita, after years of disappointment trying to have children. It had been 20 long years of trying different doctors and treatments and improving themselves spiritually, but they still did not have the baby they were longing for. Rav Chaim told them, if they would build a mikvah in a place that did not have one, then they would see a yeshua . This couple, along with help from their relatives, began raising large amounts of money necessary to build a mikvah. They found a location which met Rav Chaim’s requirement – Moshav Zohar in the south of Israel. Exactly nine months after the dedication of that mikvah, 21 ½ years after that couple got married, Mrs. Churi gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby girl. This miracle baby was born less than a month ago, and she is a living testament that with the right hishtadlut a person can always be helped. We should never underestimate the conventional means of tefila and Tehillim . Even if salvation has been delayed in coming, we must continue praying with the belief that Hashem can and will help. A woman told me she had been saying perek 74 in Tehillim every single day for her oldest daughter to get married. Baruch Hashem, her daughter got engaged and the name of the chatan is Eitan, which is one of the words in the very perek of Tehillim that she had been saying. She then added, her sister had been saying perek 72 in Tehillim for her daughter to get married. After four years of saying the same perek every single day, baruch Hashem, her daughter got engaged and the last name of her chatan is Yifrach, which is also a word in that perek which her mother had been saying. Our greatest hishtadlut is in the spiritual realms. B’ezrat Hashem, everyone should see the yeshuot they are hoping for.

21 Lessons for the 21st Century is a book written by bestseller Israeli author Yuval Noah Harari and published in August 2018 by Spiegel & Grau in the US and by Jonathan Cape in the UK and dedicated to his husband, Itzik. Having dealt with the distant past in Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind (2011) and with the distant future in Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow (2016), Harari turns in 21 Lessons his attention to the present. In a loose collection of essays, many based on articles previously published, he attempts to untangle the technological, political, social, and existential quandaries that humankind faces.

"I can tell you stories upon stories about endless amounts of people who have come through from Roy DeCarava, Allen Ginsberg, Robert Frank, Larry Clark…all the icons of the fine art photo community…everybody…Helen Levitt and Mary Ellen Mark. Just amazing artists…my father's been in it from the beginning." Ross Kasovitz grew up around some of the most well known photographers and artists for all of his life. He is the son of Peter "Itzik" Kasovitz of K&M Camera. Ross and I talk about how he came to take over the business, how he helped transform it, and how he is working to get the business back up and running after the shut-down. Ross has some great insight into how the shut-down and social distancing will effect the downstream art businesses such as retailers, printers, and framers. We also talk about the impact on photo education and what happens with analog photography and the darkroom. Ross tells a few amazing stories from his family's relationships with some of K&M's legendary customers, including one very funny story about Joel Sternfeld. https://kmcamera.com/ Be sure to also checkout a new show by my friend and former co-host Kai McBride: Kai's Photo Topic with Ross Kasovitz and Jeff Hirsch https://lunacornua.com/camera-stores/
Israel is fast emerging as a hub for international TV drama. Netflix is syndicating a host of Israeli hit shows across 192 countries. It was unthinkable even five years ago that the Startup Nation would add cultural ‘soft power’ to its already established high-tech rollcall of global successes. Fauda was thought just to be of interest to an Israeli audience. Originally only in Hebrew and Arabic, it's the story of the IDF's special units who go deep behind enemy lines to combat terror and rescue hostages. Among the mainstays of all three series is co-creator and lead, Lior Raz who plays Doron Kabbilio (and other undercover aliases) and his Shin Bet commander, Itzik Cohen, the long suffering Captain Gabi Ayub. I caught up with Itzik, locked down in Tel Aviv, who explained with great passion the role of the actor in such a realistic show. Lior Raz comes courtesy of Roger Bennett of Men In Blazers. Thanks and Courage, Roger. His first play, “Almost, Maine,” which he describes as “a love letter to northern Maine,” premiered at Portland Stage in 2004 and opened off-Broadway in 2006. It has since become one of the most frequently produced plays in the United States and has been translated into nearly 20 languages. As an actor, he is best known for his “Law & Order” character, forensics tech Julian Beck, whom he played from 2002 to 2007 and frequently shows up in reruns. Other plays he has written include “Cul-de-sac,” “Last Gas” and “Love/Sick.” Fifteen years after the premiere of “Almost, Maine,” the play and Cariani will return to Portland Stage from Jan. 15 to Feb. 2 before he heads to Broadway for a revival of “Caroline, or Change.”

Tony nominee actor Brandon Uranowitz is appearing in “Burn This” alongside Academy Award nominee Adam Driver and Golden Globe winner Keri Russell currently on Broadway at the Hudson Theater at 141 W 44th Street in New York City talks with Emmy Winner Charlotte Robinson host of OUTTAKE VOICES™. The fabulous play by Lanford Wilson begins shortly after the funeral of Robbie a young gay dancer who drowns in a boating accident with his lover Dom. Robbie’s other roommates Anna played by Russell, a dancer/choreographer and Larry a confident gay ad man played by Uranowitz are joined by screenwriter Burton, Anna's longtime lover and Pale played by Driver, Robbie's hyperactive restaurant manager brother. Thrown together in this shared tragedy the quartet attempts to make sense of their lives and reconsider their own identities and relationships. “Burn This” is a smoldering story of love and raw attraction by one of the most vital playwrights of the modern era. It’s directed by Tony winner Michael Mayer and also costars Tony nominee David Furr. We talked to Brandon about how he got involved in this openly gay role and his spin on our LGBTQ issues. When asked what his personal commitment is to LGBTQ civil rights especially with the 50th anniversary of Stonewall coming up Uranowitz stated, “It is extremely important to me. I mean I think it’s probably the most important thing to me particularly trans rights. I think trans visibility is of the utmost importance now. It’s sort of at the top of my priority list I guess if I was to have one and you know it’s a funny question only because I can’t imagine someone in my position that there’s anything less than a 100% commitment. So I guess it’s hard for me to answer because it just feels organic and natural for me to make that my mission to be a representative for our community and make sure that we are seen and heard and we are accepted and equality is something that we fight for and we win. We were winning but it looks like we’re taking a few steps back but I will be on the frontline with my colleagues to make sure that we fight always. It would be weird that anyone would say otherwise.” Brandon Uranowitz is a two-time Tony Award nominee for his performances in “An American in Paris” and “Falsettos.” In 2018 he was acclaimed for his starring roles as Otto Kringelein in “Grand Hotel” at New York City Center Encores! and Itzik in the Tony Award winning Best Musical “The Band’s Visit.” His upcoming film credits include “The Kitchen,” starring Melissa McCarthy and “Stage Fright.” On television Brandon has a recurring role in season two of "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” Additionally, he has made guest starring appearances on “Dietland”, “Blue Bloods" and “Inside Amy Schumer”. Currently in previews “Burn This” runs April 16th to July 14th.For Info & Tix: burnthisplay.com LISTEN: 450+ LGBTQ Chats @OUTTAKE VOICES

Itzik Amiel, networking, 'The Attention Switch', relations capital, TheSwit.ch - networking, Eyeron Group - consulting, teachingThis podcast is Part 2 of a two-part interview.Stephen Turner, the host of Lawyers of Tomorrow, continues his interview with Itzik Amiel, a leading global authority on networking, relations capital, business development, branding and global Expansion. Itzik is an attorney, accountant and an award-winning professional public speaker, trainer and mentor and has shared the stage with the likes of Richard Branson and Steve Wozniak, Marianna Williamson, Les Brown, Darren Hardy and others.Itzik details his method for remembering people's names – which listeners can experiment with immediately. It's a colourful, imaginative and effective tool for use during networking.Itzik and Stephen then discuss how law firms need to turn what they see as competitors into collaborators – which is a central idea behind relations capital. Collaboration between law firms and between law firms and technology companies is becoming more important as we are seeing currently. You may be unable to work for a client at a one time, so you can refer that person or company to another law firm. They may be able to return the favour later. The key is that you take a long-term view on relationship building. The fact that you may lose a client at one moment does not mean that you lose a relationship.Stephen and Itzik discuss some fascinating statistics on how attention spans of humans have dropped over the years to the point where the average attention span of a human in tests has dropped to as little as eight seconds – one second less than a goldfish!Itzik explains how listeners can work with him through his three organisations, including getting hold of a copy of his book the attention Switch - see the first link.http://www.attentionswitch.com/ - buy the bookhttp://theswit.ch/ - membership portal for networkinghttp://www.eyerongroup.com/ - consultancy for international expansion, cross-border investments and their international operationsStephen then turns the discussion to teaching, a subject about which Stephen and Itzik have much in common. They enthusiastically discuss different teaching methods for use with large groups: use of the voice, visuals and sound - including video, diagrams, music - and kinaesthetic approaches including movement.Itzik and Stephen end their discussion by focusing on the new skills that lawyers will need for the future legal market. Since robotic automations and AI will eventually perform many of the tasks that lawyers perform is essential that lawyers master their networking and relations capital building skills before it is too late. Having strong networks will be essential for future business and these take time to create – there is no time to lose!If you wish to contact Itzik by email: info@itzikamiel.com
Itzik Amiel, networking, 'The Attention Switch', relations capital.Stephen Turner, the host of Lawyers of Tomorrow, interviews Itzik Amiel, a leading global authority on networking, relations capital, business development, branding and global Expansion. Itzik is an attorney, accountant and an award-winning professional public speaker, trainer and mentor and has shared the stage with the likes of Richard Branson and Steve Wozniak, Marianna Williamson, Les Brown, Darren Hardy and others.Stephen and Itzik talk about Itzik's bestselling book, "The Attention Switch" which turns networking on its head by telling us to stop worrying about our elevator pitches and instead turn on our attention switches and give sincere attention and then build trust and long-term relationships. Itzik says that one thing that marks out all successful people is that they are very approachable and giving of attention and because of this they do not miss out on important opportunities.Itzik explains that attention is a brain muscle and when trained correctly it will react to what we are doing and will allow us to connect with people with authentic feeling. This will allow us to build deep relationships very quickly because trust - the foundation of all relationships - comes very quickly, you just need to know how to trigger it.Stephen and Itzik discuss how the secret to networking is to give attention and not to attempt to get attention. Stephen and Itzik discuss how the structure for networking can be broken down into three parts: preparation for an event, attending the event, and then follow up - all of which is explained in detail in Itzik's book.Itzik identifies the four things that must happen before any client will buy from you - the first of which is that they must like you.Itzik gives Stephen a practical demonstration of why multitasking does not work and why it is so damaging in the context of focusing our attention. However, once you learn to give your complete and focused attention on someone this will have a magnetic effect and you will have set the foundation for a strong relationship.Stephen and Itzik explore the concept of weak ties and how we should seek to leverage them in our networking. Itzik explains how most businesses can significantly ramp up their business simply by exploring existing relationships - their circle of weak ties. Finally, Itzik and Stephen discuss the importance of empathy to building strong relationships in client care and start a discussion on how to remember names. This podcast continues in Part 2

What would happen if you improved your networking, ability to connect, and be useful to others? Today you’re going to hear from Itzik Amiel, author of “The Attention Switch.” He wants to train you how to do networking in a powerful way that builds trust and relationships almost immediately.
