Jeff and Lason spend time with Lisa Jaster, author of Delete The Adjective. Lisa Jaster is an American soldier, combat engineer, and one of the first three women to graduate the elite United States Army Ranger program in 2015. One of the most difficult combat training courses in the world, Lisa was the first reservist to complete the course. She graduated at age 37, while the average trainee age is 23. Lisa, an athlete focused on strength training and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, has a deeply rooted understanding of the importance of perseverance through continual progress and growth, as well as an ingrained respect for camaraderie and selfless service stemming from a noteworthy active-duty career (including tours in Iraq and Afghanistan). Prior to receiving her esteemed Ranger tab, Lisa worked as an engineer with Shell Oil in Houston and an Army Reserve individual mobilization augmentee with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Her background in both the military and corporate worlds allows her to connect with any audience to create a memorable experience. Lisa initially was commissioned in the Army in 2000 after graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point and returned to the reserves in 2012 after a 5-year hiatus from serving. She volunteered for combat training when she discovered the Army Ranger course was being opened to women for the first time in 60 years as a U.S. government experiment to see how women would fare in the notoriously brutal program. Lisa is the recipient of numerous military accolades including two Bronze Star Medals and the Meritorious Service Medal. Lisa left active duty in 2007 and started a family and civilian career with Shell but returned to the Army as a reservist in 2012. Lisa holds a BS and MS in Civil Engineering. Neha Sangwan - Bridging Head, Heart, and BodyNeha Sangwan, physician, engineer, author and CEO of Intuitive Intelligence, shares her fascinating journey and unique approach to wellness that bridges the mind-body connection. She discusses growing up as the daughter of Indian immigrants, studying engineering and medicine to fulfill her parents' dreams, and reaching a crisis point of burnout as a young doctor. This led Neha to realize that the medical system lacked tools to address root causes of illness beyond just physical symptoms. She began exploring integrative approaches like coaching to help people connect their mental, emotional and physical health. Neha explains that as a society, we over-value the brain and external accomplishments while ignoring the body's critical feedback. By learning to listen to our bodies, we can tap into incredible wisdom rather than numbing symptoms. Her work focuses on building the "invisible bridges" between our head, heart and body to achieve true wellness and transformation.

When your guest has over 300,000 LinkedIn followers, you know that they've got something incredibly valuable to share. This powerful interview with the inspirational Dorie Clark is a classic and I'm delighted to bring it to you here on The Unlock Moment! These days I'm working with more and more leaders in different countries, cultures and contexts who share one thing in common. They've reached a stage in their careers where they have built a lot of stuff – the basic skills and experience required to do the job well, a track record of achievement and impact, the confidence and competence to show up at work and be generally successful. In some ways all that stuff gives you a freedom, to choose who you are and what impact you want to have as a leader. But these people are also very often completely overwhelmed and feel stuck. Running on the hamster wheel. No time for big thinking on questions like - what makes you happy and fulfilled? where are you truly at your best? who really are you as a leader? What is your leadership brand? How do you get your ideas heard?Well today I'm absolutely privileged to be welcoming a world-leading speaker, business thinker, coach and best-selling author to the podcast. Dorie Clark helps individuals and companies get their best ideas heard in a crowded, noisy world. She has been named three times as one of the Top 50 business thinkers by Thinkers50, and was honored as the #1 Communication Coach in the world at the Marshall Goldsmith Coaching Awards. She teaches for Columbia Business School in New York and is the author of The Long Game, Entrepreneurial You, Reinventing You and Stand Out. She has well over 300,000 followers on LinkedIn.A former presidential campaign spokeswoman, Dorie has been described by the New York Times as an “expert at self-reinvention and helping others make changes in their lives.” She is a frequent contributor to the Harvard Business Review, and consults and speaks for clients such as Google, Yale University, and the World Bank. She is a graduate of Harvard Divinity School, a producer of a multiple Grammy-winning jazz album, and a Broadway investor. Truly multi-faceted!I think we're in a year where reinvention is a hot topic for both emerging and established leaders. I can't wait to hear Dorie's take and of course to explore the Unlock Moments that shaped her as the person she is today.--Dorie Clark: https://dorieclark.com/Dorie Clark on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/doriec/ --The Unlock Moment podcast is brought to you by Dr Gary Crotaz, PhD. As the founder of AGEIST Magazine and Super Ager podcast, David Stewart is a passionate champion of the modern 50+ lifestyle. While interviewing David is a departure from interviewing women 70-110+, we feel that what he has to say contributes to our mission of aging reimagined.Women are the ones who are changing things. Men never experienced ageism, while women experienced sexism throughout their careers and understood ageism as a form of discrimination.Super Ager podcast focuses on how we age and live optimally for who we are. We're all different. The podcast brings on people who have resources for those in this age group. Ageist Magazine is a natural progression from David's previous work in magazines, with advertising. This mag is for people over 50 and to offer options for peoples' current lifestyles. We have a poverty of imagination. The magazine helps overcome this. His work is gender neutral. He talks about functional age, not biological. He wants to know, “What can you do?” How can you be as strong as possible? As useful as possible? How are you engaging? Be in touch with yourself. Be centered with who you are.

After serving four combat tours as an Army Ranger in Afghanistan and Iraq with the storied 2nd Ranger Battalion, Griffin departed the military in 2006 to create positive, sustainable change in conflict areas. With the skills learned in the military, he co-founded Combat Flip Flops, which uses their profits to aid the areas in which they are made – funding girls' education, clearing land mines, and supporting veteran charities as a part of Griffin's mission to encourage peace through trade and “business over bullets.” A powerful and emotional speaker, Griffin is known for a moving TEDx talk on the power of persistence, creativity, and respect, as well as for his successful appearance on the entrepreneurial television show Shark Tank, where he secured a deal with not only one but three “sharks” including Mark Cuban. Exclusively represented by Leading Authorities speakers bureau, Griffin is a firm believer that “anything worth doing is worth overdoing” and shares his inspiring and motivating story of chasing big goals and creating positive change with audiences globally. A Graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a degree in Engineering Management, Griffin served in the 75th Ranger Regiment as a Rifle Company Fire Support Officer, with three tours to Afghanistan and one tour to Iraq. After leaving the Army, Griffin moved to the private sector as the director of military sales for Remote Medical International and the director of special operations for Protect the Force. There, he specialized in developing solutions for companies growing business in "difficult" locations, which led to the development of Combat Flip Flops. The company has operated in Afghanistan, Laos, and Colombia, helping local populations pull themselves out of poverty, and has funded education for more than 800 girls in Northern Afghanistan. In addition to building a globally respected philanthropic brand, Griffin was a member of the first team to successfully ski off the tallest mountain in Iraq in the award-winning film, Adventure Not War: Ski Iraq. In 2019, he led and executive produced the film, Here Am I, Send Me, a Sundance recognized film that follows the trail of Griffin and fellow Rangers freefalling a Gold Star Mother into the opening ceremonies of the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. In 2021, Griffin founded 46&2 Transitions, a non-profit organization focused on helping transitioning veterans overcome PTSD through holistic methodologies. He is currently leading a 2-year clinical study to prove the effectiveness of focused meditation and plant medicine to heal wounds sustained in combat.

It's not very easy to find online coverage of the gun industry that isn't hyper polarized. The issue is dominated by a mix of NRA members and gun control activists, and even the traditional media does little more than play referee between these two sides. When Stephen Gutowski launched The Reload in 2021, his aim was to cut through this noise. Stephen had spent several years covering the issue for The Washington Free Beacon, and despite his background in conservative media, his work has been widely praised by both centrist and left-of-center journalists. In 2022, CNN hired him to serve as an on-air analyst around gun policy issues. In my conversation with Stephen, we talked about why he struck off on his own, how he monetized his newsletter, and what role his cable news career plays in building his audience.

Lisa Sun is Founder & CEO of GRAVITAS, a company whose origin story dates back to Lisa's first professional review: that she “lacked gravitas” and “should go buy a new dress, big jewelry, and great shoes.” Realizing the transformative power that clothing can have, Lisa secured the patent on building shapewear into dresses and launched Gravitas as a Confidence Company that offers innovative apparel and styling solutions designed to makeover women from the inside-out. Prior to founding Gravitas, Lisa spent 11 years at McKinsey & Company where she advised leading luxury, fashion, and beauty brands globally on strategic and operational issues. Lisa graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Yale University with distinction in Biology and Political Science. Represented exclusively by Leading Authorities: https://www.leadingauthorities.com/speakers/lisa-sun About GRAVITAS Our mission is to Catalyze Confidence. GRAVITAS is intelligent function meets versatile fashion. Our patented innovations and styling solutions empower every woman to have a confident sense of self, inspired by our founder Lisa Sun's own life story. The figure-flattering collections are designed for every woman, shape, and size, offered in Sizes 0-24W. Listen to this Takin' Care of Lady Business Jennifer Justice speaks with Lisa Sun, CEO and founder of Gravitas. Lisa shares her inspiring story of being the daughter of immigrants who came to America with little money and how she became an entrepreneur. She also explains how she founded Gravitas to catalyze confidence and started out by making clothing with shapewear built in. Here is what to expect on this week's show: - Why believing in yourself is the foundation for achieving success. - How self-worth is an internal process, not an external one. - The importance of using experiences to inform your company. - Why it is important to recognize our own strengths, be kind to ourselves, and find a support group to help us through difficult times. Quotes: "Dumbo did not need a feather to fly, but it reminded him that he could." - Lisa Sun "Not every journey is just like a linear thing... it's not all roses. Everybody hears about the things that come out and make you an instant billionaire, but that's very rare, and it usually happens to men... you should know what you're getting into." – Jennifer Justice "You don't get written about until you've succeeded, okay? And we never read about the 90% plus of women entrepreneurs who every single day feel alone, especially if you don't have a co-founder, and the burden is solely on you." - Lisa Sun “I tied so much of myself worth to certain metrics…That the sales target, the number, all of these things, I really tied up my self-worth with these external benchmarks... I realized that I could tie my self-worth to the quality of my character... I had to take stock of these other metrics that are not public facing. There's no award documenting your success for yourself." – Lisa Sun Lisa's Book: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/731156/gravitas-by-lisa-sun/ Gravitas: https://gravitasnewyork.com Learn more about your ad choices. About BarbaraI want to teach you the secret wisdom of creating wealth and asserting power, as a woman… wisdom which took me over 40 years to figure out.I grew up relying on my father (the “R” of H&R Block), then my husband, to manage my inheritance. But early in my marriage, I found out my husband was a compulsive gambler. And here's the insane part — I continued to let him handle all our finances because that's how scared and intimidated I was by money. That didn't change until a devastating financial crisis became a personal wake-up call. I got tax bills for over $1m for illegal deals my ex got us in. He'd left the country. I didn't have anywhere close to $1m. And my father wouldn't lend me the money. I had three daughters — one just a baby, and I was not going to raise them on the street. That's when I knew I had to get smart. And I did. I share my journey to financial independence in hopes of inspiring, and even better, motivating YOU to become smart (or smarter) with money… and earn more than you're making now. It's much simpler and more in your control than you may realize. Interested in working with Barbara? https://www.barbara-huson.com/courses/ (Click Here to find out more!)
