In this episode of 'The Summer of Me', Kendra discusses the societal pressures and guilt women often feel about wanting more in life beyond motherhood. She emphasizes that wanting more—whether it be in terms of career, personal growth, or self-identity—is not only acceptable but necessary for a fulfilling life. Kendra shares her personal experiences and insights on balancing motherhood with ambition, the importance of setting boundaries, and the generational guilt that often holds women back. Ultimately, she encourages listeners to embrace their desires for more and to model this expansion for future generations. takeaways Wanting more is not a dirty word. Women often feel guilty for wanting more in life. Balancing motherhood and personal ambitions is possible. Self-identity should not be solely defined by motherhood. Generational guilt affects women's ambitions. Settling for less leads to resentment. Guilt keeps women small and exhausted. Wanting more does not mean being ungrateful. Role modeling expansion is crucial for children. Embrace your desire for more, even if it's inconvenient.

In this episode, Ash and Dusty explore the complexities of managing hyperfixations and hobbies as individuals with ADHD. They discuss the common experience of having interests that are “an inch deep but a mile long,” the guilt and shame surrounding inconsistent engagement or financial investment in hobbies, and the struggle to align identity with fluctuating passions. Both hosts share personal stories that highlight different patterns of engagement—from impulsively diving into new interests to learning to take smaller, manageable steps and focusing on mastery over novelty. They emphasize the importance of redefining what it means to be “into” something, allowing space for both deep commitments and casual, purpose-free enjoyment. The conversation also delves into strategies for sustaining interests, including community involvement, mentorship, and deliberately choosing to deepen existing hobbies rather than constantly starting new ones. They highlight the value of “constructive” activities that replenish energy without demanding productivity or long-term outcomes. Ultimately, Ash and Dusty encourage listeners to reject self-judgment, embrace curiosity about their current phase, and find balance between exploring new threads of interest and committing to core passions. This episode offers compassionate insights for anyone with ADHD seeking to understand and nurture their unique relationship with hobbies and identity. Long before becoming an award-winning educator, public speaker, and podcaster (of BFF: Black, Fat, Femme), Dr. Jonathan P. Higgins (aka Doctor Jon Paul) was just a kid sneaking movies while mom was at work. One of those films, 1993's This Boy's Life, became one of their favorites. Doctor Jon Paul and Jordan discuss the film, the new book Black. Fat. In this episode of the Addict to Athlete podcast, Coach Blu Robinson engages with Shelly Lefkoe to explore the profound impact of beliefs on addiction and recovery. They discuss how beliefs are formed in childhood, the role of self-identification in addiction, and the importance of changing negative beliefs to foster healing and personal growth. The conversation emphasizes the need for valid interpretations of childhood experiences and how these interpretations can reshape one's self-worth and identity. In this conversation, Shelly Lefkoe and Blu Robinson explore the nature of beliefs, their origins, and how they shape our perceptions and experiences. They discuss the difference between consequences and meaning, emphasizing that events themselves do not carry inherent meaning. The dialogue delves into identifying and transforming limiting beliefs, particularly self-worth and love. Real-life stories illustrate the profound impact of beliefs on life choices and the potential for transformation through self-discovery and empowerment. Takeaways Beliefs formed in childhood significantly impact adult behavior. Understanding the origins of beliefs is crucial for healing. MIRACLES FOR YOU Sondra Ray & Markus Ray on A Course in Miracles
We DECIDE TO FORGET our Divine Connection, but it is still there in blazing certainty when we are willing to restore our awareness of who we really are. God's Peace and Joy are mine, but I had chosen to forget them when I made fear, guilt and anger real. If we are not happy, then something is off. We decided to forget Pure Joy. Now is the time for us to remember our Self-Identity. This is free of all attack, fear, guilt, and negative emotions. This is the Self of Perfect Happiness. Let me remember I am ONE WITH GOD. All attack is off, because all attack is "self attack." When we attack ourself, we have chosen to "forget" who we really are, God's Daughter and Son. When we choose to remember, we can forgive ourself and restore our Divine Connection to our every day awareness.

I AM AS GOD CREATED ME. This Lesson, repeated three times in the Workbook, is a simple statement of the truth. Can we receive it in it's full force to transform our life into something of peace and joy? This statement undoes all other projections of a "false self we made up." It removes our ego self long enough to see that it was never real. We have to let go and let the Truth of who we are into our awareness. In everyday life we can make contact with this Self Identity. It is essential that we do so, and release all the false notions of a self that decays, withers and dies.

Episode 146 In this episode, I delve into the challenging and often misunderstood topic of deconstruction, especially for those of us healing from complex trauma as persons of faith. I share my own journey and how deconstruction has been an essential part of my healing process. We'll define what deconstruction means in this context and explore the three zones where I experienced it: Self-Identity, Family and Cultural Values, and Faith. Despite its inherent risk, deconstruction is a necessary and important part of the journey towards wholeness and a more secure faith in God. I hope my sharing reassures those of you on the healing journey that your experience of deconstruction or “undoing” is an integral and hopeful part of the healing process even if very few people in your life can understand you.Watch this recording on YouTube.Follow me on my Instagram account @animann for more material on the integration journey and subscribe to my monthly reflections on Begin Again.CHAPTER MARKERS[00:00] Introduction[01:44] Defining Deconstruction[06:03] 3 Zones of Deconstruction[07:59] 1. Episode 3357: Mark Manson explores the paradox many face when engaging with Zen philosophy and meditation: the struggle between detachment from desires and living responsibly. He offers a nuanced explanation of how to approach attachment and the present moment, emphasizing that it's not about removing ambition, but recognizing that clinging to outcomes or self-identity through achievements leads to suffering. Read along with the original article(s) here: https://markmanson.net/the-zen-dilemma Quotes to ponder: “It's not about doing or not doing. It's all about how much of your sense of Self, your identity is attached to the outcome of what you do or don't do.” “Being present isn't ignoring the past or the future. That's impossible actually, because the act of thinking about a past or a future is actually taking place in the present.” “Have your career goals, thoughts and ideas, your hopes and dreams, but don't attach the Self to it in such a way that you'll suffer if you don't achieve them.” Episode references: The Power of Now: https://www.amazon.com/Power-Now-Guide-Spiritual-Enlightenment/dp/1577314808 Learn more about your ad choices.
