China and the United States are strengthening financial cooperation through the China-US Financial Working Group, a positive and essential step for preventing global financial crises and injecting stability into the fragile global economy, experts said. They commented after the China-US Financial Working Group held its fourth meeting on Tuesday in Washington. The meeting was co-chaired by Xuan Changneng, deputy governor of the People's Bank of China, and Brent Neiman, assistant secretary of the US Department of the Treasury, with financial regulators participating. The PBOC, China's central bank, said on Wednesday that the two sides had "professional, pragmatic, candid and constructive" discussions on topics such as monetary policy and financial stability, financial supervision cooperation, institutional arrangements in financial markets, cross-border payment and data, sustainable finance, anti-money laundering efforts, countering the financing of terrorism and financial infrastructure. The working group was established by the two sides in September to strengthen communication on financial topics.US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen met with the Chinese delegation, and the two sides agreed to continue to maintain communication, according to the PBOC.The meeting came shortly after Yellen visited China earlier this month, when the two sides agreed to continue to conduct exchanges on financial stability, sustainable finance, anti-money laundering and other issues under the framework of the financial working group.Liu Ying, a researcher at the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies of Renmin University of China, said the meeting was of great significance in delivering a positive signal that China-US economic and financial ties are steadily recovering.Liu said: "In recent years, the relationship between China and the US has experienced significant fluctuations. The fact that the two sides are continuously engaging through the financial working group indicates that their bilateral relationship is moving toward stabilization and recovery, bringing a certain level of stability and certainty to the world economy."The China-US meeting came at a time when global stock and bond markets are under pressure, as recent US inflation reports showed persistent price pressures and Fed officials have hinted that US monetary policy may need to be restrictive for longer.Liu Chunsheng, an associate professor at the Central University of Finance and Economics' School of International Trade and Economics, said that against such a backdrop, it is of particular significance for China and the US to strengthen exchanges concerning monetary policies and financial stability."This will help the two sides better understand each other's monetary policy moves, strengthen mutual trust and work together to address any potential financial stresses," Liu said.According to the US Department of the Treasury, the two sides held a technical exchange in March to discuss each jurisdiction's approach to financial stability oversight and make plans for technical exercises on financial stability.Liu from Renmin University of China said that if the US does not lower interest rates, that could exacerbate global financial fragility by intensifying the pressures of local currency depreciation and capital outflows in other economies. It also could sustain the stress within the US banking system and increase the vulnerability of elevated US government debt, she said. Therefore, the world's two biggest economies "need to and must" strengthen communication for macroeconomic policy coordination, Liu said, adding that the US side should keep China updated on its monetary policy decisions, while the Chinese side should help ensure that the US avoids implementing beggar-thy-neighbor monetary policies. Also on Tuesday, the China-US Economic Working Group held its fourth meeting, during which officials from both sides exchanged views on topics including the macroeconomic situations of the two countries as well as the world, balanced growth, and future communication arrangements, the Ministry of Finance said on Wednesday.China expressed concerns over US trade and economic restrictions against China and provided further responses on the production capacity issue, the ministry said.

In this week's Mind Remapping episode, Coach Leonard joins me to discuss how parents can prevent emotional incest, set healthy emotional boundaries with their kids, and talk about feelings without making them feel responsible for adult emotions. Buckle up as we explore this crucial aspect of parenting and learn practical strategies for promoting healthy emotional development in our kids.    Key Takeaways:  Emotional Incest - A situation where a child is placed in a role of emotional support usually reserved for a spouse.  Setting Boundaries - Parents should clearly communicate what is appropriate and inappropriate in terms of emotional expression and interaction with children.  Gender-Specific Roles - The same-sex parent plays a significant role in shaping a child's understanding of gender roles and relationships.  Breaking a Pattern Through Conversation - An honest and open conversation between parents and children is crucial for breaking the pattern of emotional incest.    Helpful Resource:  The three-step approach of awareness, acceptance, and action can be a powerful tool for addressing challenges with a sense of mindfulness.     Notable Highlights:  "Mama was always harder on the daughter than on the son if dad was not in the picture, that spousification thing is starting to gel now."  "It's important to understand that as that vacuum takes place because of a parent's absence, it's not appropriate for a child to take care of that."  "Crossing the generational line comes from wanting to fix or solve the problem so that you can feel better."  "It's ok for a parent to show emotion in front of their child so long as they're not putting the responsibility on the child for them to make their child responsible for fixing."  "A child's first language is energy."  "The most important person usually in the child's life is the same sex parent."  "Denial is a river in Egypt, but it's also a thing we tend to do when we feel convicted."    About Leonard (Luv Doc) Sturdivant   Len holds a master's degree in psychology from N.C. Central University and has completed 140 hours of doctoral training in marriage and family therapy at Virginia Tech. China is set to pave the way for further moves to resolve local debt problems, experts said on Wednesday, adding that more efforts should be made to alleviate debt burdens of local governments and optimize the structure of fiscal spending and debt.Their comments came after the Central Financial Work Conference, a two-day meeting that ended on Tuesday, said efforts should be made to establish a long-term mechanism to guard against and defuse local debt risks, set up a government debt management system that is compatible with China's pursuit of high-quality development, and optimize central and local government debt structures.Yang Haiping, a researcher at the Institute of Securities and Futures — part of the Central University of Finance and Economics — said the meeting assumes a higher-level perspective to coordinate development and security, which will help resolve local debt problems in the future.Looking ahead, he said the country will likely take more steps to optimize bond issuances, utilization and repayment, and ensure the sustainability of debt through measures such as determining and controlling debt limits. And it will take more measures to ensure the implementation of debt control mechanisms and debt risk prevention mechanisms through corresponding accountability mechanisms. In July, a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee urged efforts to effectively guard against and defuse local debt risks, and formulate and implement a package of debt-clearance plans.Yang said the country will gradually replace hidden liabilities of local governments with officially declared debts, and the issuance of "special refinancing bonds" will help ease debt burdens. As of the end of October, more than 20 provincial-level regions issued over 1 trillion yuan ($137 billion) worth of such bonds during the month to swap their implicit debt, according to news reports.Special refinancing bonds are government bonds whose proceeds are typically used to repay hidden government debt — usually the liabilities of local government financing vehicles, or LGFVs — that are implicitly guaranteed by local governments. By doing so, implicit debt is replaced with official government debt.Citing the steps mapped out by the Central Financial Work Conference, Luo Zhiheng, chief economist at Yuekai Securities, said optimizing the structure of central and local government debt is an important way to improve government debt structure and prevent and resolve debt risks tied to local authorities.Due to the rapid growth of local government debt in China over the past few decades, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic over the past three years, local governments currently face significant financial burdens.Although China's government leverage level is not high by international standards, the debt level of local governments significantly surpasses that of other major economies.Against such a backdrop, Luo said it is necessary to expand central government borrowing with the central government raising leverage levels, adding that China's recent decision to issue an additional 1 trillion yuan in treasury bonds during the fourth quarter will help optimize debt structures.Feng Jianlin, chief economist at Beijing FOST Economic Consulting Co, said the move suggests that the country is willing to expand central borrowing while preventing local governments from having new hidden debts.According to the plan approved by the country's top legislature last week, bond proceeds will all be allocated to local regions via the mechanism of transfer payments. And the move will expand China's fiscal deficit to around 3.8 percent for the year, up from 3 percent.Around 500 billion yuan is intended to be utilized within this year, while the remaining half-trillion yuan will be used next year.Reporter: Ouyang Shijia

China may continue to reduce its holdings of United States debt, in a move to diversify its foreign reserve assets and ensure foreign exchange market stability amid the rising de-dollarization trend in international trade, experts said on Wednesday.8月16日,专家们表示,中国可能继续减持美债,以实现外汇储备资产的多元化,并在国际贸易去美元化趋势不断升温的情况下确保外汇市场的稳定。 Their comments came as the latest data from the US Treasury Department showed that as the second-biggest foreign holder of US Treasury securities, China cut its holdings for three consecutive months to $835.4 billion, as of the end of June, down $11.3 billion from May. On the contrary, Japan and the United Kingdom—the largest and third-largest foreign holders of US debt, respectively—have both increased their holdings, Japan by $8.8 billion to more than $1.1 trillion and the UK by $11.9 billion to $672.3 billion. "The proportion of US debt in China's foreign exchange reserves is expected to continue decreasing," said Tang Yao, an associate professor of applied economics at Peking University's Guanghua School of Management. This is because China needs to advance diversification in foreign reserves as it pursues diversification in foreign trade, Tang said, adding that Japan and the UK increased their US debt holdings due to the prospect of profits. According to Yang Haiping, a researcher at the Central University of Finance and Economics' Institute of Securities and Futures, de-dollarization is expected to help safeguard international trade and investment if the US continues to abuse the dollar's hegemony status. Ye Yindan, a researcher at the Bank of China Research Institute, attributed China's reduction in US debt holdings partly to faltering global trust in the greenback amid geopolitical tensions including the Russia-Ukraine conflict. "Many countries have been diversifying international portfolios, and it is difficult to determine if Japan and the UK will continue to increase their holdings later," Ye said. However, some experts said that economic conditions are the only reason behind China reducing its US debt holdings. They denied that China's move involved any geopolitical considerations. Zhang Yansheng, chief researcher at the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, said that China's export slowdown in recent months has already influenced its trade surplus, which will likely prompt foreign exchange authorities to take countermeasures. Jiang Xianling, executive president of the UIBE & CAITEC International Business Strategy Institute, said that China has been reducing its US debt holdings since the second half of last year as part of broader efforts to maintain stability of the foreign exchange reserve market.UIBE & CAITEC国际商业战略研究所执行所长蒋先玲说,中国自去年下半年以来一直在减持美债,这是为维护外汇储备市场稳定所做的更广泛努力的一部分。 Citing a sluggish external demand and supply challenges due to shutting down of many small businesses and export enterprises during the COVID-19 pandemic, Jiang said that tepid exports will narrow trade surplus this year. That as well as the expanding US-China interest rate differential and the depreciation of the renminbi are major reasons that China needs to reduce its holdings of US assets, said Jiang, who is also a researcher at the Academy of China Open Economy Studies at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing. Ye, the researcher with the BOC institute, said that China accounts for one-fourth of global foreign exchange reserves, and to well manage such a large-scale reserve, ensuring security, liquidity and appreciation of the reserve assets is the country's key goal as it seeks to advance its financial market opening-up amid external turmoil. China is expected to proactively advance diversification in its reserves and make innovations in the management of the reserves, and continue to be a responsible long-term investor, Ye said. Holding英/ˈhəʊldɪŋ/美/ˈhoʊldɪŋ/n.

Are you ready to take part of your relationships? If you don't know how to love yourself first, how can you be in a "love relationship" with someone else? Prior to entering a relationship, a person who does not know how to love themselves will force YOU to take care of them. For you to control your relationship, you must learn to love yourself. Ways to begin the healing conversation between you and your partner Recognizing that when you get together, once the love hormone wears off, your eyes open and they can see. And there's a lot of conversations like our background like what it was growing up for you. If you survive the pre-marital stage, you're good. Recognize the trauma you are carrying Virtual intimacy with each other is tricky. Ever since sex became easier, love became harder to find. In terms of virtual intimacy between men and women, the first thing they go for is to be close. However, it causes us not to see beyond that. Know your partner more by observing how they handle break down, how they can self-soothe, and they handle their emotions right away. SHOW NOTES: In this week's Mind ReMapping Moment, I am joined once again by a fellow Black Therapist who is male. We are discussing a crucial topic related to how vertical intimacy strengthens our relationship with ourselves and others. · How well do we communicate? · What is vertical intimacy? · What do we need to begin cultivating closeness in the people we want to be close to? These and a whole lot more await you in this week's special episode with Len Sturdivant, a love and relationship coach who offers individual, group, couples, and even online consultations. In this episode, he will teach us that if we cannot create intimacy vertically, then we cannot connect with people. Today, we will learn about cultivating vertical intimacy, communication, and healing traumas. All about Vertical Intimacy. Vertical Intimacy is the foundation for reciprocity. Reciprocity and resentment cannot live in the same space. We cannot and do not always recognize when someone is bidding for connection, so learning the concept of vertical intimacy is so important. It is also helpful in friendships, parent-child relationships, and the broad spectrum. You must create intimacy vertically to connect with people. When we can love that inner child, we can have those reflections in our family and our community of ourselves, and we can experience that vertical intimacy. Cultivating vertical intimacy between two grown people. The first task we need to master is, how do I love myself? We need to re-parent ourselves and do the things that were not done for us early on so that we can begin to address the missing half of us. It would be great if we have a mate to help us re-parent that part of us. Communication Meaningful conversation is excellent- not just surface-level conversation- in which you go deep into chat and ask more intimate questions. It does not have to be deeply personal. It will involve some risk, and the risk is the reflection that comes back to you. You are connected when a person can see into you, no matter who they are; then dialogue is possible, and communication is possible. We have to cultivate the intimacy with ourselves. So when we develop, that means healing our traumas; it means acknowledging them because we cannot heal before we recognize them. We have to be open and willing to look and accept so that we can heal those traumas and those old conversations that have us unable to and unwilling to open up to love ourselves first and then forge that connection with another. About Len Sturdivant: Len Sturdivant got his Master's Degree in Psychology from N.C. Central University. He completed 140 hours of doctoral training in marriage and family therapy at Virginia Tech. SHOW NOTES: We are back with another episode with Len Sturdivant. In this week's Mind ReMapping Moment, we are going to discuss honoring each other's grief processes. In this episode, we are going to talk about the painful shock caused by the recent death of tWitch and how we can learn from his life. · What is impression management? Does it cause us harm or good? · For celebrities, it is challenging for us to know their persona because of the image that they have to portray. · We can only suppress our suffering for a short while and then it gets too big and explodes. These and a whole lot more await you in this week's special episode with Len Sturdivant, a love and relationship coach who offers individual, group, couples, and even online consultations. In this episode, he is going to teach us that to love others, we should first truly love ourselves. Today, we will learn about trauma, forgiveness, and healing. How does the world make it feel unsafe for us to show our emotions? Sometimes, we become a “supposed to” on someone else's world and that weighs heavily and makes it feel unsafe for us to be able to express ourselves. Sometimes, we don't leave room for the contradiction. We don't allow for two things to be true (i.e. you can be the life of the party but also show your struggles. Check in with people who you think are the bravest Here's one important thing we should be doing, if we haven't already: check in with people that you would never expect. Those you would never expect will have an emotional break down. Those you think are the strong, that they got it together. They are the ones who look like they got it all together but those are the ones that need checking in. Finding your “safe people” you can call to talk to when you're in a dark place It is important that we have people we can call when we are in the low points of our lives. It does not have to be many, two and three people is perfectly fine. These safe people are those we know we can rely on so when we are in our dark place, we can pick up the phone and talk to them and they know exactly how to interact with us to help maintain that safety and help us move through that dark space and put us back to our safe place. Find them before you're on the edge. About Len Sturdivant: Len Sturdivant got his Master's Degree in Psychology from N.C. Central University and completed 140 hours of doctoral training in marriage and family therapy at Virginia Tech. SHOW NOTES: In this week's Mind ReMapping Moment, I am joined by a fellow Black Therapist who is a male and we are discussing a very important topic related about how our trauma affects our relationships, especially with our partners. · Can trauma make a person narcissistic? · How exactly does our trauma affect our relationship with the people we care about? · What can one do when their partner is living in trauma? These and a whole lot more await you in this week's special episode with Len Sturdivant, a love and relationship coach who offers individual, group, couples, and even online consultations. In this episode, he is going to teach us that to love others, we should first truly love ourselves. Today, we will learn about trauma, forgiveness, and healing.
