It's the final episode of series 18, and what a RIDE it's been! We've got the wonderful James Norton taking this season out with a bang! James popped over for a summer barbecue while taking a break from filming the upcoming Beatles biopic in Spain. We heard all about growing up in Yorkshire, his family's love of outdoor swimming, his mum's legendary pavlova, the process of filming House of the Dragon, navigating living with Type 1 diabetes, and why tuna pasta in white sauce will always be his ultimate comfort meal. Thank you James for a fabulous season finale, and thank you to everyone for tuning in to another mammoth series! We've still got lots to come through the summer, we're diving into the archive to bring you exclusive YouTube episodes and of course our Second Helpings audio series will be all yours too. Have a gorgeous summer and we'll see you for Series 19 very soon! You can catch James in House of the Dragon streaming now on HBO Max, and his new film Sunny Dancer is out on the 14th August. Take 240: What's NewBig week. Jonathan and JP are back and there's a lot to get into.List It or Nix It kicks things off with seven fresh trailers — Mayday, I Play Rocky, The Uprising, Behemoth, The Other Mommy, Bad Apples, and Doomsday all go through the gauntlet. In What We've Been Watching, Jonathan saw The Odyssey and then apparently went on a full childhood cinema tour — Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, The Pagemaster, Harriet the Spy, Stuart Little, Shark Tale, and Zathura. JP brings Project Hail Mary, Lawrence of Arabia, After Hours, and The Odyssey to the table, with House of the Dragon and Silo on the TV side. Then the news, and it's a good one this week. The Odyssey opened to $124.5 million domestically and $264.1 million globally — Nolan's biggest worldwide opening ever, beating The Dark Knight Rises. The only films that opened bigger this year are Toy Story 5 and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Jon Bernthal filmed the Trojan Horse sequence submerged in cold water, Nolan offered to pull him out, and Bernthal's response was essentially: try harder. The film has no real competition until Spider-Man on July 31, which gives it room to run on a $250 million budget that needs the legs. And then — the Avengers: Doomsday trailer dropped this morning. First proper look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Thor rallying heroes, closing with "we need a miracle" before turning around stunned at a "hey pal." Channing Tatum as Gambit. Cyclops, Mystique, Ant-Man, the Fantastic Four, the Wakandans. Tickets on sale now. Opens December 18. The SDCC Hall H panel is Saturday — further reveals expected. It's a good time to love movies.

Hour 1: In conclusion, The World Cup ruled. Congratulations, Spain. Vinnie has mild thoughts on the halftime show. How much money do the teams make for winning? Sarah thinks the game could use lions. Vinnie passed his big test! Plus, he's doing hard-hitting journalism this morning with two contradicting stories: Santa Fe is the best, but New Mexico is the worst. Hour 2: Let's catch up on TV! Sarah and Matty are loving House of the Dragon, but Bob is over it. Big Brother has kicked off. Anya Taylor Joy's new show isn't horrible. Matty is watching ‘Little House on the Prarie'… lol. Sarah got totally scammed by AI. Can you guess the most watched seasons of Netflix in the last 4 years? Speaking of Tucker, Sarah is playing matchmakers with Marci. Plus, the biggest story of last week has been solved - supposedly. Hour 3: The first ‘Avengers: Doomsday' trailer is here. Robert Downey Jr is back, but Iron Man isn't. ‘The Odyssey' had a tremendous opening weekend. ‘Moana' is disappointing after its second weekend. Sorry, The Rock. Is he joining this list of celebrities whose careers are hanging on by a thread? Messi crying is in the news. Vinnie reopens the lettuce controversy. More to come. What would you do for a Mountain Dew? Not much. America's taste in ice cream is vanilla. BTW, Vinnie is afraid of sharks. Hour 4: Evanescence is in town today! Will they ever be able to top that big hit? It's Hello Kitty night at The Valkyries. Flock of Seagulls are at the Castro Theatre. Speaking of music, Apple is raising their prices. Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo already finalized their divorce. Willy Nelson in a turtleneck? Cigarettes are cool - Sarah is quitting. World cup travelers are sharing what they liked about America. Grab a taco, it's not so bad here! Plus, the great return of How Old Is That Guy?!
Let's catch up on TV! Sarah and Matty are loving House of the Dragon, but Bob is over it. Big Brother has kicked off. Anya Taylor Joy's new show isn't horrible. Join us as Robert Balch shares what it was like to be the tip of the spear for the 14th Armored division during WW2. Beginning with a brutal baptism by fire in Gertwiller in November 1944, his platoon advanced as the spearhead column, crossing the German border at Wissembourg and conducting high-stakes scouting missions directly against the Dragon's Teeth of the Siegfried Line. The unit faced severe physical and psychological strain, enduring freezing foxholes during a tense "battle of nerves" near Bitche, before being forced into a chaotic, full-scale tactical withdrawal when hit by a massive German counter-offensive during Operation Nordwind, the last German counter offensive of the war. Robert reflects on their service during the post-war occupation of Germany, members of the platoon fiercely defended the purpose and conduct of the American GI, emphasizing that their resolve was permanently forged by the trauma of combat and the firsthand horrors of liberating concentration camps like Dachau and Buchenwald. Episode 5, "Unbowed and Unbent," just turned House of the Dragon into a horror movie, and Justin and Greg are still processing the blood on that wall. This is the one where the Blacks' paranoia gets fully justified — and the body count says the worst is still ahead.
**[Actual, provable Bible Truth]**We are Christadelphians, and we believe in letting the Bible interpret itself. In this powerful and thought-provoking presentation, we dismantle the traditional, unbiblical ideas surrounding the devil, Satan, and fallen angels. This is an expositional deep-dive into the problematic passages often misused to support the doctrine of a rebellious angel. We propose an alternative, insightful, and scripturally sound explanation that reveals the true meaning of these symbolic texts. Prepare for a wonderful and revealing journey through Isaiah, 2 Peter, Jude, and Revelation.###

House of the Dragon 3x5(HBO Max) | Eine zähflüssige Hängepartie? Well, according to the polls the majority of you felt ready to continue with Revelation! In Part 3, the focus shifts to the spiritual battle taking place behind the events of history. John sees visions of the woman, the dragon, the beasts, and the seven angels with their bowls. This is where the mark of the beast is mentioned. We don't need to be afraid--we just need to make sure we follow the commands of God and have the faith of Jesus. Then we will have the seal of God. These chapters remind us that God's victory is certain. We are reading Revelation 12 through 16.Thank you to Kenny, Edwina, Robert, DeAnne, Katelyn, and Christine! This sermon uses the film "How to Train Your Dragon" to illustrate profound spiritual truths about identity, acceptance, and transformation. Through Hiccup's journey from rejection to acceptance, the message reveals how God sees beyond our outward appearance to our hearts, how our perceived weaknesses can become our greatest strengths, and how humility and forgiveness lead to restoration. The sermon challenges believers to stop conforming to worldly expectations and instead embrace who God created them to be. It emphasizes that true transformation comes not from earning approval through performance, but through surrendering to God and allowing Him to renew our minds. The climax demonstrates how one person's willingness to see differently—guided by truth rather than fear—can transform an entire community.
As we reach the mid-point of Season 3 of House of the Dragon, the plot has thickened across multiple fronts. Ormund Hightower has seized control of Tumbleton. As Rhaenyra weighs her options, Aegon's journey hits rock bottom, Cole decides to fight on without the aid of any dragons, Daeron wrestles with being a Targaryen molded through Hightower upbringing, Daemon makes a stunning discovery (as well as a massive decision), and Alicent makes a shocking discovery of her own. All of it has the potential to make the back half of Season 3 even more explosive than the first half was...and that is saying something. House of the Dragon Season 3 just made one of its biggest departures yet from George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood, cutting the fan-favorite dragonseed Nettles entirely and folding her role into Rhaena Targaryen. In this episode of Geek Freaks Headlines, we break down who Nettles is in the books, how she claims the wild dragon Sheepstealer, her complicated relationship with Daemon Targaryen, and why showrunner Ryan Condal chose to merge her arc with Rhaena's instead of adapting her directly. We also dig into what this change means for Daemon's redemption arc going forward, and whether the show just skipped past some of the richest material in the source text.**Timestamps**- 0:00 Intro, the big change to House of the Dragon- 0:12 Who is Nettles in the books- 0:28 The showrunner's reasoning for replacing her with Rhaena- 0:49 The Battle of the Gullet aftermath- 1:03 Daemon takes Nettles in as a companion- 1:26 Rhaenyra's paranoia and the hit on Nettles- 1:48 Nettles' fate in the Vale- 2:20 What this means for Daemon's redemption arc- 2:36 Final thoughts and wrap up**Key Takeaways**- Nettles is a lowborn dragonseed who claims the wild dragon Sheepstealer by feeding it dead sheep daily until it trusts her- Showrunner Ryan Condal chose to give her arc to Rhaena Targaryen to keep the story centered on the Targaryen family- Unlike Rhaena in the show, book Nettles was not responsible for Jace's death and fought valiantly in the Battle of the Gullet- Daemon takes Nettles in afterward, teaching her the ways of court, and the book leaves it ambiguous whether their bond is romantic or fatherly- Rhaenyra grows paranoid and puts a bounty on Nettles, forcing Daemon to help her flee- The show's choice to skip this material may cost us the redemption arc for Daemon that the book's ending sets up**Memorable Quotes**"She's a fighter, you know, she grew up tough. She claims Sheepstealer by feeding him dead sheep every day until the dragon trusts her.""Nettles is a great character I think really deserved to be in the show, but I understand making Rhaena more substantial.""He has not been a good dad. He's a terrible dad."**Got Thoughts on This Change?**Do you think replacing Nettles with Rhaena was the right call, or should HBO have found a way to keep both characters? What would you do if you woke up inside a video game? Would you start gathering resources, search for the nearest quest giver, or spend the first few minutes desperately trying to figure out whether you're living in Animal Crossing or trapped inside Resident Evil? Joe and special guest Philip D. Keating kick off another fun-filled episode of Wise_N_Nerdy by answering this week's Question of the Week, leading to a hilarious discussion about survival, strategy, and the importance of knowing exactly what kind of game world you've landed in. The Roll of the Dice sends the hosts first to "What Are You Nerding Out About?" Joe shares his latest anime obsession, The Cat and the Dragon, a delightfully goofy series that's full of charm and humor. Phil, meanwhile, is eagerly anticipating everything the Nintendo Switch 2 has to offer, with a particular excitement for the newest Star Fox adventure and what it could mean for longtime Nintendo fans. Next up is "How Do I...?", where Joe and Phil tackle an important parenting topic: How do you help your kids build genuine self-esteem and learn to love themselves? Through thoughtful conversation, the hosts explore the power of encouragement, celebrating effort over perfection, modeling healthy confidence, and creating an environment where children know they are valued for who they are—not just what they accomplish. The dice then land on "Parliament of Papas," where the hosts react to an unforgettable story about a teenager working in a coffee shop who secretly teamed up with his manager to pretend he was getting fired whenever customers became unnecessarily rude. The discussion dives into customer behavior, workplace humor, standing up for employees, and why kindness costs nothing. No episode would be complete without a healthy helping of Bad Dad Jokes, and this week delivers a wonderfully painful collection of puns centered around the paranormal and poetry. The groans are plentiful, the laughs are unavoidable, and the Wise_N_Nerdy tradition lives on. Finally, the episode concludes with "Daddy, Tell Me A Story," where Joe and Phil swap some of their most memorable travel horror stories. From flight delays and airport mishaps to the unpredictable chaos that seems to follow travel plans, the hosts prove that sometimes the best stories come from the trips that didn't go quite as expected. Whether you're imagining life inside your favorite video game, discovering a new anime, getting excited for the next generation of Nintendo, looking for parenting encouragement, or simply enjoying some spectacularly bad dad jokes, this episode has something for every nerd, parent, and lifelong fan. Send us Fan MailIn this episode of Brewstilled, I'm recapping HBO's House of The Dragon episode 4 from season 3. For episode 4, we had a lot going on with team Green and team Black as both sides plot their next moves in a war that has gone quiet. We saw Rhaenyra contemplate what's next as Ormund Hightower made moves to threaten her reign as Queen. For Aegon, he found himself at Rooks Rest, but not in a spot her would want to be in. We also go developments with Cole whose now rejuvenated and back in the fight. I'll recap it here on Brewstilled with a West Coast Pilsner from Russian River Brewing Co. as the beer pairing.

How far will we go for beauty? How deep and dear is the costs? We dig in to a genuinely gruesome history — lead face paint, arsenic wafers, radium perms, and an electric corset that promised to cure your "hysteria." We dig into how beauty has been poisoning people for centuries, then bring it into the present with looksmaxxing, bone smashing, and the new horror of AI dysmorphia — patients bringing AI-edited selfies to plastic surgeons and asking to look like a face that was never real. Then two films that put "beauty is terrifying" into practice:
He wasn't an English knight, but actually a Roman soldier, and the dragon didn't appear until centuries later in the medieval period. So what is the origin of the Saint George and the Dragon myth? And why do so many countries - from England to Ethiopia - adopt him as their patron? To sort the fact from the fiction, Dan is joined by Jasmine Elmer, mythologist and author of 'Slay: Ancient legends of female slayers and the hidden mythology of dragons'. They explore the history of dragons from the chaos monsters of ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt to the serpents of Greek mythology, Christian saints' lives and East Asian folklore, as well as the stories of other little-known dragon slayers through history.Produced by Mariana Des Forges and edited by Dougal PatmoreWe need your help!
