"Following the style of some of the world's most prolific street artists, an amateur filmmaker makes a foray into the art world." That's the official IMDB description for this Oscar-nominated documentary but does that even really describe it?  Well.....sort of.  The amateur filmmaker described is likely Theirry Guetta, a French clothing shop-owner in Los Angeles who never goes anywhere without his camera and we initially seem to follow him as he takes a very strong interest in graffiti artists.  So he starts to film various reknowned streets artists in action including Shephard Fairey, Space Invader, Borf, Buffmontster, and eventually.....the legendary Banksy.  He builds a relationship with Banksy, decides to film some exciting new acts of street art and then things get increasingly interesting....AND funny! :)  Well as it turns out, Banksy himself is the ACTUAL director of this film, Theirry Guetta MIGHT be the actual star, it's all wittily narrated by Welsh actor Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill, House of the Dragon), and what results could actually be one of the funniest (yet still insightful) documentaries of all time. ;) Host: Geoff GershonEdited By Ella GershonProducer: Marlene GershonSend us a textSupport the showhttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/

Go to BibleinaYear.com and learn the Bible in a Year.Today's Bible verse is Revelation 14:1 from the King James Version.Episode 243: After the vision of the glorious throne room, John was given another vision. This time the vision was about the history and future of the earth. John saw a Dragon who battled with the armies of God and tried desperately to consume the child of Israel who was destined to rule the nations. But God rescued the woman and her child and the armies of heaven cast out the dragon banishing him to the earth. Even here the Dragon continued to pursue the woman and make trouble for the children of God. Other beasts were called up as well to deceive the people into following them. The Space Show Presents Dr. Casey Handmer, Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025Short Summary:The meeting focused on discussing the Artemis program's challenges and complexities, with particular emphasis on comparing NASA's current architecture with SpaceX's Starship capabilities for lunar missions. The group explored various technical and political considerations, including orbital refueling requirements, safety constraints, and the potential for China to establish a lunar presence before the U.S. They also discussed broader topics such as the feasibility of Mars missions, the challenges of powering data centers in space, and the need for NASA reorganization to remain competitive in the global space race.Detailed Summary:David and Casey discussed the challenges and complexities of the Artemis program, emphasizing the need for simplification and focusing on delivering only what is essential to achieve the lunar mission. Casey highlighted the importance of reducing complexity, similar to the Apollo era's lunar orbit rendezvous approach, and noted that congressional funding often prioritizes parochial interests over strategic goals. They also touched on the potential for China to establish a lunar presence by 2029, suggesting that the U.S. needs to accelerate its efforts to remain competitive.Casey criticized the current NASA architecture for returning to the moon, particularly SLS, Orion, and Gateway, arguing they are inefficient and costly, while Starship offers a more viable alternative. Phil challenged Casey's views, questioning whether halting funding for Orion and SLS is the right move, and they debated Starship's current capabilities, with Casey defending SpaceX's engineering expertise and Phil citing his own calculations showing Starship lacks sufficient delta-V for orbital flight. Marshall suggested that Test Flight 13 could demonstrate Starship's orbital capabilities, potentially resolving the debate. The Space Show Wisdom Team discussed the comparison between SpaceX's Starship and NASA's SLS/Orion programs, focusing on orbital refueling capabilities and safety constraints. Casey argued that even if Starship demonstrates orbital refueling, NASA would continue funding SLS due to political reasons, while Phil suggested canceling SLS if Starship meets safety constraints and achieves 100+ ton propellant transfers. The discussion highlighted concerns about Starship's refueling requirements and success rates, while emphasizing the challenges of orbital refueling compared to satellite deployment. Bill noted that launch success probabilities might improve over time, but Casey emphasized the timing issues and marginal requirements in the Artemis program. The group discussed the differences between SpaceX's and NASA's approaches to space exploration, with Casey emphasizing the efficiency and innovation at SpaceX's Starbase in Texas. All discussed the challenges of boil-off in rocket fuel tanks, noting that while it is a concern for liquid hydrogen, it is not a significant issue for methane. They also explored the possibility of using Falcon Heavy instead of the SLS and Orion for lunar missions, with Ajay suggesting that Falcon Heavy could be a more cost-effective and safer option. Casey agreed, stating that using Falcon Heavy and Dragon could simplify and potentially reduce the risks of the Artemis program. The Wisdom Team discussed the Artemis program and its viability for returning to the moon, with Casey explaining that while many in the industry doubt the current approach, the program remains a government policy with congressional approval. David raised concerns about the lack of technical expertise at the highest levels of NASA and questioned how to effectively advocate for program changes, noting that Congress may not fully grasp technical details. Casey suggested that successful completion of the HLS contract by SpaceX could influence future decisions, while Marshall highlighted the potential for embarrassment and increased urgency if China achieves a moon landing before the US.Casey expressed concerns about China's potential lunar claims and the need for U.S. space dominance, while David inquired about the blowback from Casey's blog post criticizing NASA's Orion space capsule as garbage. Casey explained that the post was well-received and based on NASA's own internal watchdog reports, highlighting past NASA failures. Phil suggested creating an Office of the Inspector General for SpaceX and Blue Origin due to perceived lack of oversight, to which Casey responded that existing oversight bodies like NASA's OIG and FAA can already address issues with NASA-funded programs. The Wisdom Team discussed the accuracy of refueling estimates for the Starship rocket, with IG analysis showing 16 refuelings compared to SpaceX's estimate of 8-12. Casey noted that while most people working on the Starship program lack expertise in making these calculations, the actual number of qualified experts worldwide is less than 10. The discussion then shifted to alternative landers for the HLS program, including a potential intermediate human-rated lander from Blue Origin that would be larger than the Mark I but smaller than the HLS version, though Casey and others questioned its viability due to launch and fuel efficiency challenges.Next, we focused on the feasibility of human missions to Mars, with Casey explaining that while significant progress has been made since 2025, achieving a self-sustaining city on Mars would require approximately 10,000 additional Starship missions beyond initial landings by 2035. Casey noted that life support systems for Mars missions are technically feasible, citing nuclear submarines as a precedent, and suggested that while faster transit times would be desirable, they are not essential for mission success. The conversation concluded with a discussion about advanced propulsion systems, with Casey proposing antimatter propulsion as a potential future technology that could enable human exploration beyond Mars, though he acknowledged that such developments are not currently in the near-term plans of space agencies.David brought up questions about the feasibility of AI data centers in low Earth orbit, with Casey expressing skepticism and suggesting that ground-based solutions near Starlink gateways would be more cost-effective and efficient due to latency and infrastructure constraints. Ajay emphasized the potential of thorium-based molten salt reactor nuclear power plants for data centers, citing their lower cost and easier construction compared to space-based options. Casey countered that building enough nuclear reactors to meet the energy demands of AI data centers on Earth is unlikely, and highlighted the need for further computational analysis to determine the viability of space-based solutions. The Wisdom Team discussed the challenges of powering data centers, with Casey noting that while it's possible to build a 10 gigawatt data center in 18 months, there's no way to power it that quickly. Marshall suggested using Starlink satellites to provide computing power, while others emphasized the need for reliable communication infrastructure. The conversation then shifted to the future of the Starliner program, with Casey expressing doubt about its viability due to ongoing technical issues and financial losses. The discussion concluded with a brief exploration of the high costs associated with Mars sample return missions, which Casey attributed to the complex coordination between multiple agencies and contractors.Casey discussed the challenges at JPL, highlighting how bureaucratic inefficiencies and lack of incentives for cost-saving measures have led to expensive and delayed missions, such as the Mars Rover, which cost $2.4 billion and was 12 years late. He noted that JPL has laid off 1,500 people and is struggling due to reduced project work, while commercial space has taken over many traditional NASA roles. Casey emphasized that NASA and JPL lack fiscal discipline compared to private industry and suggested that the agency needs reorganization or new missions to remain relevant.Casey discussed the urgent need to enhance NASA's operational capacity to ensure U.S. strategic interests are not compromised by other nations, emphasizing that decades of neglect have created a dire situation that requires significant effort to address. He also shared his work on synthetic fuel production, inspired by the need for a primary materials supply chain on Mars, and highlighted the challenges and opportunities in developing this technology using solar power. The conversation included discussions about refining processes for metals and the potential for innovation in energy production, with Casey encouraging interested individuals to join his team or pursue their own ventures in this field.Special thanks to our sponsors:Northrup Grumman, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Helix Space in Luxembourg, Celestis Memorial Spaceflights, Astrox Corporation, Dr. Haym Benaroya of Rutgers University, The Space Settlement Progress Blog by John Jossy, The Atlantis Project, and Artless EntertainmentOur Toll Free Line for Live Broadcasts: 1-866-687-7223 (Not in service at this time)For real time program participation, email Dr. Space at: drspace@thespaceshow.com for instructions and access. The Space Show is a non-profit 501C3 through its parent, One Giant Leap Foundation, Inc. Most Excellent 80s Movies Podcast

Gymnastics Meets Carnage: Gymkata (1985)Welcome to this episode of The Most Excellent 80s Movies Podcast! Hosts Krissy Lenz and Nathan Blackwell pommel horse their way through one of the most wonderfully absurd action films of the 1980s—Gymkata (1985). Starring real-life Olympic gymnast Kurt Thomas in his feature film debut (and finale), this Cold War curiosity follows a gymnast-martial artist sent on a CIA mission to win "the game" in the fictional country of Parmistan. The prize? The perfect location for a Star Wars satellite defense system. The obstacles? Rope courses, arrow-wielding guards, and an entire village populated by actual asylum patients armed with pitchforks. The hosts dive into the film's bizarre logic, from the conveniently placed pommel horse in a village alley to the princess who somehow knows martial arts despite never mentioning it. They discuss the film's missed opportunities—why didn't they establish the international competitors better? Why does no one ever say "Gymkata" in the actual movie? And most importantly, why does Jonathan's dad get shot with arrows twice? Both Krissy and Nathan agree that while Gymkata delivers entertaining absurdity, it doesn't quite reach the legendary heights of so-bad-it's-great classics like Miami Connection or Ninja III: The Domination. Still, it's a fun ride through 1980s action cheese.Additional Highlights:The film was directed by Robert Clouse, who also directed Enter the Dragon—a sobering career trajectoryKurt Thomas performs genuinely impressive gymnastics throughout, even if the premise is ridiculousThe "game" has confusing rules that even the characters don't seem to understandThe movie ends with a freeze frame and text explaining the satellite placement rather than showingRating: 6.5 pitchforks out of 10—worth a watch with the right expectationsFinal ThoughtsBoth hosts land on a 6.5 rating, agreeing that Gymkata offers solid entertainment without hitting truly bananas territory. It's a honeydew melon of bad movies—pleasant enough but not the fruit you'd choose first. Nathan recommends exploring Neil Breen's filmography, particularly Fateful Findings, for those seeking more ego-driven cinema. Krissy suggests experiencing Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights for a real-life village-of-crazies adventure.Learn More:Discover more about The Most Excellent 80s Movies Podcast and the TruStory FM network at trustory.fm. One of my favourite types of interviews is when I get to interview someone who has hit their financial independence or retirement number early, and then picking their brain on how they got there, what worked well for them, what didn't, what mistakes they could have avoided, and learning what makes them feel happy and fulfilled both before and after hitting financial independence. Well this time, I got to do this with one of the most famous personal finance experts in Canada, David Chilton, who, as you may know, was also one of the dragons on Dragon's Den. Dave's bestselling book, The Wealthy Barber, was actually the first personal finance book that I ever read. I read it decades ago in high school, and in a way, it actually started me down this path of early financial independence. Dave has recently released a massive update to the book, so we cover what has changed in personal finance and investing in Canada over the years, and what Canadians need to know about now when it comes to personal finance and investing in Canada.  I'm incredibly grateful that Dave has chosen to spend so much of his time educating Canadians and trying to improve financial literacy here in Canada. You can definitely tell that he's not doing it for some massive financial gain, and is genuinely trying to help. Let's get into the interview.

BibliografíaSpaceflight NowNASASpaceflightArs TechnicaLive ScienceNew ScientistReutersNASA BlogFuturismThe New York Times

Dr. Manny Arango, New Testament scholar and author of "Crushing Chaos," joins us to explore the biblical monsters we've sanitized out of our modern understanding of Scripture. From the dragon in Eden to Leviathan in Job, Manny argues we've fallen victim to the "lullaby effect"—becoming so familiar with these stories that we've missed their jarring, supernatural elements. In this fascinating conversation, Manny reveals why the talking serpent in Eden was likely a dragon, why God describes Leviathan to Job in excruciating detail, and how Jesus' ministry was fundamentally about conquering chaos monsters. But the real twist? Manny argues that humans can become the monsters—that the Bible's greatest concern isn't external beasts, but our own potential to devolve into chaos. From ancient Near Eastern mythology to modern anxiety, this episode explores how biblical monster stories are actually roadmaps for retaining our humanity in a world designed to make us beastly. Manny's insights on chaos versus sin, the nature of humanity, and Jesus as the ultimate dragon-slayer offer a fresh perspective on spiritual warfare and what it means to stay human in a chaotic world. When Elizabeth Lutz Kelly's flower growing hobby turned into a business, it outgrew the space she had available in her yard in Akron, Ohio. Even though there wasn't a lot of open space, she asked around her neighborhood and found places that could be growing crops that weren't. Thus she was able to expand her business with one of the most viable strategies for growing a farm without having to buy more land.In this interview we hear about Elizabeth's strategies for growing a lot of flowers in a small area, what crops she grows and how she markets them locally. We also hear about how her dahlia breeding project has led to submitting a variety for possible naming by the American Dahlia Society. We also hear why she's planting more perennials for cut flowers all year round, how she moves them through her farmstand, and more in this week's interview with host April Parms Jones! Connect With Guest:Website: happydragonflowerfarm.comInstagram: @happydragonflowerfarmFacebook: Akron Garden Share Podcast Sponsors: Huge thanks to our podcast sponsors as they make this podcast FREE to everyone with their generous support:This episode is brought to you by Tend, the all-in-one, AI-powered farm management platform trusted by modern growers. They offer it to the dwarf, but he is not trusting of the heroes after the way they treated him, and increasingly as they continue to pester him. Li'High leaves into the wilderness by herself and renounces her god Habbakuk, desiring to worship Chemosh, but not knowing how to make the connection with the new god while she is on the road, and inadvertently is connected by Morgion. She rebukes him, and they all continue to a roadhouse where they eat. Some local adventurers are hired to guard their old wagon in the caravan. They search some of the wagons and mark the cultist wagons for future reference, then they continue on for a few days ending up in a brutally cold rainstorm. They arrive at another road house only to be turned away, and the hired adventurers refuse to help. Li'High breaks into the upper level and is contacted by Morgion again, and this time accepts. He creates a half-cask of diseased ale which is unable to be refused. Upon touching it, she contracts the fatal disease but is protected as an agent of Morgion. She murders the people in the inn, then sets it on fire. While it’s burning she steals food from the inn, tossing it to Boros who contracts the same disease and dies with his friends watching, too afraid to approach and help him, believing they were helpless. Li'High flees into the wilderness, consumed by sorrow and an unwilling agent of Morgion. If you live in Ventura, apparently the tap water there is not safe for human consumption or washing, with gasoline detected in the water supply. In this episode of The Filmumentaries Podcast, I speak with art director and supervising art director Dominic Masters, whose decades-long career spans some of the biggest films and series of the last 40 years. He grew up around movie sets thanks to his father, the legendary production designer Tony Masters (2001: A Space Odyssey, Papillon, Dune), and started his own journey at 19 when he spent eight months in China on Tai-Pan — the first Western movie ever shot there. Dom talks about learning the foundational skills of drafting, the early struggles of finding work in the British film industry of the mid-80s, and the unique lifestyle of moving from production to production — that strange micro-community that forms on set, often in far-flung locations.  We cover his experiences on Titanic working under James Cameron, the shift from physical sets to set extensions and digital workflows, the evolution of the art department, and how shows like House of the Dragon demand an enormous level of coordination, creativity and technical precision. We also talk about the British Film Designers Guild, the camaraderie that forms in the art department, and his personal creative outlets, photography and music, that keep him balanced between jobs.  It's a wide-ranging, honest conversation with someone who has seen the industry evolve from the studio backlots of the 1970s to enormous contemporary productions.
