Once is chance. Twice is coincidence. Three times feels like a pattern. But what about 40+?More than forty young men have vanished under nearly identical circumstances and share a strikingly similar victimology - same age range, same build, same final narrative: “He was drinking… he wandered off… must've slipped into the river.” Clean, convenient explanations. But when do multiple accidents stop feeling accidental? And when does coincidence start looking like choreography? Those questions are the backbone of the Smiley Face Killers, which is actually a theory suggesting a possible serial killing network operating across the United States. Law enforcement agencies overwhelmingly reject it. But a small group of former NYPD detectives and private investigators remain unconvinced. And that divide, between official rulings and unresolved doubt, is where this tragic yet fascinating case still lives. First, Donald Trump sent his flunky, Lindsey Halligan, into the grand jury to indict New York State Attorney General Leticia James. However, given that Halligan was unlawfully appointed as interim US attorney - meaning she had absolutely no lawful right to set foot in a grand jury - the indictment that Halligan obtained against James was dismissed by a federal court judge. So Donald Trump found another flunky to go back into the grand jury and try to indict James again. The problem this time was that the grand jurors, sitting as the conscience of the community, refused to indict James, because the prosecutor did not have adequate evidence to support an indictment. In the event Donald Trump has his dirty DOJ leadership send someone back into the grand jury to try again, the third time will not be a charm.Glenn reviews the sad state of affairs involving Department of Justice leadership that is acting lawlessly, vindictively, and on the whims of a corrupt president of the United States. Glenn also reviews grand jury procedures in depth, and highlights why any indictment that is obtained in the future will almost certainly be dismissed as the product of a vindictive prosecution. January 18, 2001. Miami, Florida. Geralyn Graham, the foster mother of four-year old Rilya Wilson, claims that a female caseworker from the Florida Department of Children and Families took Rilya from her residence for a medical evaluation, but never returned. Rilya is not officially reported missing until 15 months later, but the authorities become convinced that Geralyn fabricated her story and is personally responsible for Rilya's disappearance. Geralyn is eventually charged with numerous crimes and receives a lengthy prison sentence after she is convicted of kidnapping and child abuse at her trial. Since the jury is unable to convict Geralyn of murder and Rilya's remains are never found, there are a lot of unanswered questions about what actually happened. On this week's episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we explore a heartbreaking and controversial missing children's case which came about as the result of a major scandal within Florida's foster care system. Special thanks to listener Jaclyn Collins for narrating the opening of this episode. If you have any information about this case, please contact the Miami-Dade County Police Department at (305) 418-7302. https://wels2.blob.core.windows.net/daily-devotions/20251210dev.mp3 Listen to Devotion John’s clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. Matthew 3:4-6 Confess Do you ever wrestle with regret? I’m not talking about how you may regret not buying that stock when it was at $20 per share or eating at that sketchy restaurant and getting food poisoning. I’m talking about the regret of the decisions that have left you with shame. You know what I’m talking about, don’t you? There was that time when you took things too far. There was that time when, so enraged, you said or did something you can’t take back. Or maybe there is that constant guilt that you carry around because you know your life choices aren’t the right ones, and you’ve been acting on that urge or behavior, even though you know it is wrong. You know that it is toxic for you and/or your relationships with others, and you’ve gone back to it more times than you can count. The people who came to see John preaching at the Jordan River were just like you and me. They wrestled with guilt. They knew shame. And, tragically, when they went to their religious leaders, they were told, ‘Stop doing that! Be better!’ However, John said something else. When they talked with John, they unburdened themselves of that weight of regret and shame. They confessed to their sins that had weighed them down and left them feeling lost. And do you know what John told them? He assured them of their forgiveness! Whatever guilt or shame has brought regret into your life, confess it. Open your heart to God and confess that sin. Because when we do that, God promises that he has forgiven us because of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Jesus has paid for all the things you regret, and he promises that you and I are loved and wanted by him. Prayer: Dear Jesus, forgive me for my past missteps and failures. I am sorry for them. Help me to trust in my Savior Jesus for his forgiveness today and every day. Amen. Daily Devotions is brought to you by WELS. MDJ Script/ Top Stories for December 10th Publish Date: December 10th Commercial: From the BG Ad Group Studio, Welcome to the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast. Today is Wednesday, December 10th and Happy Birthday to Med White Seven Nation Army I’m Keith Ippolito and here are the stories Cobb is talking about, presented by Times Journal Cobb Library Foundation launches online store to boost fundraising Powder Springs man charged in fatal shooting of mother and stepfather Kennesaw "Holly Days" parade spreads holiday cheer All of this and more is coming up on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen and subscribe! BREAK: INGLES 5 STORY 1: Cobb Library Foundation launches online store to boost fundraising The Cobb County Library Foundation just got a little more creative with its fundraising—say hello to The Cobb Library Shop, an online store packed with bookish goodies. From cozy throw blankets and pet sweaters to pickleball paddles and “Get Carded” T-shirts, there’s something for every library lover. The shop, designed by library staff, features six themed collections, including merch for the bookmobile and holiday gifts. Proceeds? They go straight back into library programs like the Summer Reading Program and Teen Book’d. “This isn’t just about selling stuff,” said Sandra Morris, the foundation’s executive director. “It’s about building a bridge between the library and the community.” Shop now at cobblibrary.shop. STORY 2: Powder Springs man charged in fatal shooting of mother and stepfather A tragic scene unfolded in Powder Springs on Saturday, where a man is accused of fatally shooting his mother and stepfather. Police arrived at a home on Yoshino Terrace around 12:30 p.m. after a domestic disturbance call. Inside, they found Monica Brookins, 72, and John Wells, 73, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to the hospital, neither survived. The suspect? Martin Duberry, 31—Brookins’ son and Wells’ stepson—who also lived in the home. He’s now facing two counts of murder, eight counts of aggravated battery, and a firearm charge, according to authorities. A heartbreaking loss for the family and community. STORY 3: Kennesaw "Holly Days" parade spreads holiday cheer Downtown Kennesaw was buzzing with holiday cheer as the Holly Days parade rolled through, bringing floats, marching bands, dancers, and, of course, Santa Claus himself. The parade, with over 50 entries, started at Adams Park and wound its way down Watts Drive and Main Street. Kennesaw Mayor Derek Easterling stole the show, pedaling a tricycle decked out in Christmas lights and decorations, waving to the crowd in his festive suit. The parade wasn’t just for spectators. Performers like Sophia Allsen, a North Cobb High color guard member, said marching in the cold was worth it. “Seeing everyone’s smiles makes it all worthwhile,” she said. The festivities wrapped up with Santa waving from his sleigh float, followed by photos in Depot Park. Preston Bell, 10, summed it up: “I loved the candy—and I’m asking Santa for Robux!” For more Holly Days fun, visit kennesaw-ga.gov/hollydays. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.799.6810 for more info. We’ll be right back. Break: Villa Rica Wonderland Train STORY 4: Braves great Dale Murphy falls short of Hall of Fame induction Dale Murphy’s wait for the Hall of Fame continues. The Braves legend fell short again on Sunday, earning just six of the 12 votes needed from the Contemporary Baseball Era Committee. It’s the same result as 2022, leaving fans and supporters—who’ve rallied around him for years—disappointed but undeterred. “From the bottom of my heart, thank you,” Murphy wrote on X before the announcement, overwhelmed by the outpouring of love. “Words can’t describe how much this support means.” Murphy’s career? A mix of brilliance and heartbreak. Seven All-Star nods, back-to-back MVPs in ’82 and ’83, 398 homers, five Gold Gloves. But injuries slowed him, and his Hall of Fame case has always been a debate. For now, the wait goes on. STORY 5: Senior living development advances The Cobb County Planning Commission gave the green light to a 16-home senior living development in southwest Cobb—unanimously, no less. The project, proposed by Atlanta-based Romusa Properties, would rezone 3.29 acres on West Sandtown Road, right by Mud Creek Soccer Complex. The plan? Build attached homes, at least 1,800 square feet each, with brick, stone, and cedar shake exteriors. Pretty traditional, but cozy. There’s also a recreational area and a mail kiosk in the mix, plus a mandatory HOA and private streets. No objections, no drama—it sailed through. Next stop: Cobb Board of Commissioners on Dec. 16. Break: STORY 6: Marietta celebrates girls cross country team’s sixth state championship The Marietta High girls cross country team took a well-earned victory lap Friday—on a bus, through the entire school district. Why? Six straight state championships. Six. Decked out in bright pink shirts, the 21 runners stopped at all 12 schools, greeted by cheering students, handmade signs, pom-poms, and blaring anthems like “We Are the Champions.” High-fives everywhere. Superintendent Grant Rivera led the charge, calling the team an “inspiration.” Senior Mary Nesmith, a two-time state champ herself, said, “It’s so special seeing the little kids. They’re so sweet.” The tour ended with Mayor Steve Tumlin’s proclamation. Six titles—and counting. The move follows “Wesley’s Law,” passed last year, which req ======uires schools to stock naloxone and train staff to use it. We’ll have closing comments after this. This week on the Insider podcast, Preet is joined by Erwin Chemerinsky, constitutional law expert and Dean of the UC Berkeley School of Law, while Joyce is out. Rachel Maddow looks at a variety of legal tactics and pressure campaigns that are having success against the Trump administration's overreach in immigration enforcement and the Justice Department's vendetta prosecutions. Where people push back, Trump loses, or sometimes doesn't even try to fight, and the more Americans learn that lesson, the stronger the opposition Trump faces.Rachel Maddow explains that as Donald Trump's health secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. gives increasing credence and authority to crackpots, the authority and reputation of American medical expertise is suffering such extreme degradation that science-minded state officials are establishing new fact-based health alliances to advise the public on matters like vaccinations. In proof that the rule of law still matters and that federal court rulings still matter, one of Donald Trump's former personal attorneys, Alina Habba, has resigned after federal courts ruled that she was unlawfully serving as the U.S. Attorney for the district of New Jersey. This represents a victory for the rule of law, a victory for the people of New Jersey, and a victory for the hundreds of hard-working, career public servants/federal prosecutors who work at the New Jersey U.S. Attorney's office. Now let's hope that other flunky U.S. attorneys who are serving in their positions unlawfully - also follow suit and resign. The Law of Attraction isn't some mystical secret. It's actually dead simple: know what you want, believe you can get it, and get your ass to work. Three steps. That's it. So why does it fail for most people? Because they're focusing on the wrong thing. They're thinking about what they don't want instead of what they do want. They're maintaining vision boards without taking action. They're journaling about dreams without making them real. I break down why the Law of Attraction is really just the Law of What You Think About Most, share a story about divorced women who can't stop listing what they don't want, and reveal the Harley Davidson vision board disaster. If you've been wishing and hoping instead of believing and doing, this episode is your wake-up call. Featured Story I work with a lot of divorced people. Men and women going through transitions, looking for what's next. And every single time I ask a divorced woman what she wants in her next man, you know what she says? "I'll tell you what I don't want." Then she goes off for ten minutes. I could make coffee, pet my dog, throw the ball, come back — she's still listing what she doesn't want. What's happening? She's focused on the past. The bad stuff. What didn't work. So guess what she's attracting more of? That's the Law of Attraction at work. You get what you focus on. Every single time. Important Points The Law of Attraction boils down to three things: know specifically what you want, believe you can make it happen, and take massive imperfect action. Most people fail because they focus on what they don't want instead of what they do want, keeping themselves stuck in the past. Vision boards and goal lists are useless if you never take action — stop wishing and hoping, start believing and doing. Memorable Quotes "Know specifically what you want, believe you can go get it, not you deserve it, believe you can make it happen and get to work." "You get what you focus on. You ever wonder why somebody you know gets married, gets divorced, gets married, gets divorced to the same guy?" "He was so busy on his vision board, he forgot to go live the vision." Scott's Three-Step Approach Get clear on what you want, not what you don't want. Stop focusing on the past failures and start describing your ideal future in specific terms. Believe you can make it happen through action. Not because you deserve it, but because you're willing to do the work to get it. Take action today, not tomorrow. Pick one thing from your vision board or goal list and go do it right now. Chapter Notes 00:00 - Why the Law of Attraction fails for most people 04:20 - The divorced woman's attraction trap revealed 08:45 - Vision boards that never become reality 11:30 - The Harley Davidson dealership lesson 14:15 - Daily journaling versus daily awareness practice 16:40 - Making your future real today, not tomorrow 18:25 - Three steps to attraction that actually works Connect With Me Search for the Daily Boost on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify Email: support@motivationtomove.com Main Website: https://motivationtomove.com YouTube: https://youtube.com/dailyboostpodcast Instagram: @heyscottsmith Facebook Page: https://facebook.com/motivationtomove Facebook Group: https://dailyboostpodcast.com/facebook Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode, we look at a series of recent arrests tied to online posts, comparing Britain's policing culture and firearms laws with American norms and examining how “feeling threatened” has become a legal standard. We discuss Alaska's new AI-driven digital identity system and the fears surrounding automated benefits, digital currency, and government control. We highlight the week's “foolishness” involving a racist outburst at a Cinnabon, and then turn to market news as Bitcoin drops and DJT stock continues to collapse. Our main topic explores whether AI can ever be sentient, what genuine inquisitiveness looks like, how people project humanity onto algorithms, and why the real risks stem from human psychology rather than runaway machines. We close with a discussion of how AI affects relationships, personal responsibility, and why students shouldn't rely on it to think for them. 00:00 Introduction and Overview 01:01 British Man Arrested Over Social Media Post 02:46 Police Overreach and “Feelings as Law” 05:14 Global Jurisdiction and Ridiculous Laws 06:51 Alaska's AI-Driven Digital Identity System 07:35 AI Applying for Benefits on Your Behalf 09:17 Digital Currency and Government Control Fears 12:11 Foolishness of the Week: The Cinnabon Racism Incident 13:22 Why Do Racists Get GoFundMes? 14:30 Bitcoin's Drop and the DJT Stock Collapse 19:36 Can AI Become Sentient? 22:05 The Inquisitiveness Test for Consciousness 26:31 Will AI Replace Human Relationships? 30:30 What Long-Term Interaction Reveals About AI 36:46 Asking AI About Sentience 40:00 Real Risks: Errors, Psychology, and Human Behavior 43:15 AI as a Mirror of Human Behavior 45:02 Practical and Realistic Uses of AI 50:18 Why Students Shouldn't Rely on AI for Schoolwork 53:40 Drug-fueled Observations on Human Behavior Learn more about your ad choices. Laura Gómez moderates a conversation with Yvette Borja, Laura E. Gómez Latinx People and the Law Teaching Fellow, UCLA School of Law, Gabriela Ibañez Guzmán, staff attorney at Somos Un Pueblo Unido, Mariel Bustamante, PhD student at the UC Berkeley School of Jurisprudence and Social Policy, Emily Morel, community organizer with Red De DefensAZ, and Alejandra Pablos, co-founder of Red De DefensAZ. They discuss the successful policies passed in New Mexico during the last 25 years that allow immigrant New Mexicans to pursue higher education and workforce training, obtain driver's licenses, receive protection from wage theft and discrimination, and access state guaranteed-basic-income pilots. By contrast, Arizona has passed several anti-immigrant laws, including a ban on cities passing sanctuary policies, served as the center stage for racist policing as immigration enforcement, and is home to many localities that use immigration detention centers as a means for economic development. But Arizona has also served as an incubator for participatory defense community organizing led by directly impacted people, from Puente to Red De DefensAZ. This roundtable explored the reasons behind these divergences and what they can teach us about non-carceral futures in the Southwest. To support the podcast, become a patreon member at: https://patreon.com/radiocachimbona?utm_medium=unknown&utm_source=join_link&utm_campaign=creatorshare_creator&utm_content=copyLinkFollow @radiocachibona on Instagram, X, and Facebook
Watch the YouTube version of this episode HEREAre you a law firm owner looking for ways to integrate AI into your firm? In this episode of the Maximum Lawyer Podcast, Tyson interviews Billie, a law firm owner and legal tech entrepreneur, about the rapid changes in the legal industry. They discuss the challenges of managing law firm operations, experimenting with side projects like the Modern Divorce Navigator, and the impact of AI and venture capital on legal services.Billie shares how AI can increase efficiency in the legal space. There is a current shortage of lawyers and because of this, many people are unrepresented or are having a hard time finding a lawyer. AI has the ability to transform the legal practice and allow lawyers to represent more people and cut down their processes and systems to provide them the time to do it.Billie and Tyson chat about how AI can handle client communications. It can really change the intake system and do tasks like handling client calls. Training AI to handle client inquiries can make things easier for lawyers who might not have the time to respond to clients when needed. It would be great for AI to read client files and provide updates. Though this could be very intrusive and take tasks away from admin staff or paralegals, it is a great way to cut down on firms that are extremely overwhelmed.Listen in to learn more!2:17 Modern Divorce Navigator: Concept & Failure 5:01 Recognizing When to Quit5:37 Law Firm Owners & Side Projects 9:30 AI's Role in Access to Justice10:19 AI, Fees, and the Legal Market 16:27 Challenges of Law Firm Acquisitions18:44 Legal Tech Investment & AI Tools21:05 Building vs. Buying Legal Tech23:31 Rapid AI Advancements & Future Predictions 30:40 Staffing Adjustments & Role Evolution37:34 AI for Current Clients & Future Potential 42:30 Hiring a House Manager: Challenges & TipsTune in to today's episode and checkout the full show notes here. https://wels2.blob.core.windows.net/daily-devotions/20251209dev.mp3 Listen to Devotion In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.'” Matthew 3:1-3 Ready Your Heart for Jesus! When I was a kid, I remember that we got the word that the President of the United States was coming to town. And, somehow or another, we even heard that his motorcade was going to be driving down the street right by my house. We were so excited! Our family waited by the sidewalk, looking down the road with anticipation, and then, sure enough, a procession of vehicles came whizzing by, with the president’s hand (or some unlucky staffer’s) waving to us! When a president or, in ancient times, a king, comes to town, you need to make preparations. You must get the road ready for his arrival. That is the picture we see in the message of God’s Word we’re looking at for our devotion. A great king is coming to town, and the road needs to be cleared. “Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.” John’s whole purpose in life was to prepare the world for Jesus. He was the opening act who came onto the scene just before the headliner. And the way he got everyone ready was by preaching to them. He preached God’s Word to them. With that Word of God, he shook them with his call to prepare their hearts. That call is still applicable to you and me. Our hearts are often filled with things that don’t please God. We prioritize things that don’t really matter. We go our own way rather than listening to God’s Word. But John calls us to repent, to prepare our hearts! Turn away from that sin which so often entices your heart and turn to Jesus who has paid for it with death. Turn your heart to God with joy and see the forgiveness so freely given in our Savior. Ready your heart for Jesus! Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you for taking away my sins. Help me to turn away from my sin each day and turn to you to find forgiveness and peace. Amen. The legal industry is racing toward new business models, and Trisha Rich offers a grounded view of what that shift actually requires. As a partner at Holland & Knight and a professor at New York University School of Law, she works at the center of the conversations driving MSO growth, ABS experimentation, and rising interest from Private Equity. Firms want support, investors want a foothold, and everyone wants clarity on where the ethical lines sit. Trisha argues that the answers are far less mysterious than people think. Independence, fee structures, and client protection still define the boundaries, and decades of opinions already show how to navigate them. She also speaks to the momentum behind this moment. AI pressure, shifting talent expectations, and a clear push for stronger business models have created an environment where MSO and ABS structures feel less experimental and more inevitable. Her perspective invites firms to ask sharper questions: what kind of growth makes sense, which investments matter most, and how do you protect the heart of the profession while modernizing it? The conversation offers a clear read on a fast-evolving space and a thoughtful look at how regulation and innovation shape each other inside modern legal practice. 1) Media vs. Military: Narco‑Boat Strikes Central assertion: Media outlets (especially The Washington Post) allegedly “slandered” the military with false reporting about a U.S. strike on a Venezuelan drug boat; Senator Tom Cotton is quoted saying everyone on the boat was a “valid target” based on intelligence. Details cited: References to NBC’s question about orders by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to target all individuals on the boat; Cotton responds that the operation aimed to destroy drug boats and that intelligence gave “high confidence” all aboard were traffickers. Discussion of the Law of War Manual and whether firing on “shipwrecked” persons would be illegal; the host’s questions are framed as attempts to undermine the military. Broader framing: The piece compares this episode to past controversies (e.g., the “Russia dossier”), alleging coordinated efforts by Democrats and media to undermine or criminalize Trump officials and intimidate service members. 2) Voter Rolls & Election Integrity Core allegation: The Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon (spelled “Harmei Dylon” in the text) purportedly announced DOJ findings of 260,000+ deceased individuals on voter rolls and thousands of registered non‑citizens; DOJ has sued multiple states to obtain voter list data. States mentioned: Lawsuits or actions described against Delaware, Maryland, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and large cleanup activity in North Carolina (over 100,000 registrations) Author’s stance: Argues for voter ID, claims Democrats oppose roll cleanup for political advantage, and quotes Trump asserting elections are “crooked and rigged.” Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. Glenn Taylor Helzer, and the other leadership was comprised of his brother Justin Helzer and their follower Dawn Godman. Raised in a strict Mormon home, Taylor's life spiralled after years of mental health trouble. By 2000, the trio had formed a cult under Taylor's delusional leadership. That summer, they murdered Ivan and Annette Stineman, Selina Bishop (daughter of guitarist Elvin Bishop), Jennifer Villarin, and James Gamble. Why do we need God's Law to truly repent? We can't turn away from something if we don't know it's wrong. God's Law helps us understand right from wrong so we can recognize our sin, repent, and renew our relationship with Him. The Israelites in Nehemiah 9 finally get this when God's Law highlights the uncomfortable truth...they're no different than their ancestors. Their response is beautiful.Join us as we dive into one of the most powerful prayers in Scripture and walk with the Israelites through their incredible day of repentance. With this masterclass in confession, the Levites show us how to renew our relationship with God using the ACTS model of prayer. https://wels2.blob.core.windows.net/daily-devotions/20251208dev.mp3 Listen to Devotion In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” Matthew 3:1-2 Something Has Got to Change Something has got to change. Have you ever thought that? You might have thought that about your marriage or your relationship with your kids. You probably have thought that about your job or a working relationship with a coworker. At some point in your life, you have probably said that about something going on in government. Something has got to change. I would suspect, however, that when we’ve had this thought, often, we think this change should happen in someone else. Someone else needs to be fixed. Someone else needs to turn things around. After all, wouldn't the world just be better if everyone thought like I do and did things my way? But before we try to change everyone else, it might be helpful if we first look in the mirror and see if there are things about ourselves that need to be changed. That's really the message that God teaches us through the voice of John the Baptizer. If you had to summarize, John’s whole message, it would be this: repent. Repentance has two parts: 1) to acknowledge shortcomings, failures, and guilt, and then 2) to turn to Jesus and find forgiveness. You and I can’t change the hearts of other people. But God can and does change our hearts! Through the voice of John, God is calling for you and for me to look at our own lives and be honest about where we fall short, where we have done wrong, not just against others but against God. But in that call to repentance, God beckons us to lift our eyes to see the Savior who has forgiven us of our faults! That’s what Jesus has done for you! You don’t have to live in shame or fear for your faults. No, Jesus has paid for them with his sacrifice! Recognize your guilt but turn to Jesus and find that peace of forgiveness! Prayer: Dear God, I am broken and am truly sorry for my sin. Thank you for sending me my Savior who loves me and forgives me. Continue to help me daily repent and see the peace which Jesus brings. When the Lord instituted the seven feasts in Leviticus 23, He gave Israel a prophetic calendar that not only marked their national life but laid out, in exact order, the future timeline of the First and Second Advents of Jesus Christ. The seventh of these feasts, the Feast of Tabernacles, stands out as the great concluding celebration—a picture of joy, harvest, and God dwelling among His people.“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 (KJB)On this episode of Rightly Dividing, because it is the seventh feast, it speaks of completion—and nothing is more complete than the finished work of Christ at His First Advent and the future restoration at His Second. To understand Tabernacles properly, we apply the Law of First Mention, which sets the foundation for how a subject develops throughout Scripture. The first time we encounter this feast is in Exodus 23:16, where it is called “the feast of ingathering, which is in the end of the year.” Immediately we see three themes: ingathering, ending, and completion. God is showing us that Tabernacles marks a final harvest and a time of rejoicing in His presence and provision. The first mention of the tabernacle itself also reinforces this. In Exodus 25:9, God commands Moses to build a sanctuary “that I may dwell among them.” This is the heartbeat of the Feast of Tabernacles—God dwelling with man. In the wilderness, God's presence was visible in cloud and fire above the Tabernacle; but this was not the final fulfillment. It was a picture, a shadow, a type pointing forward to something far greater.
In this Christmas series opener, Dr. John explores a foundational question: If people walked with God before Jesus came, why do we need Him? Drawing from Galatians 3:15-18, he examines God's covenant with Abraham and the promise that all nations would be blessed through Abraham's "seed." Through Israel's turbulent history, Dr. John reveals that the promised blessing didn't come through a nation, but through one person: Jesus Christ.Christmas From Galatians: This Christmas, Dr. John takes an unprecedented approach to the season by exploring why Jesus' coming was absolutely necessary. Through the book of Galatians, this series traces God's plan from Abraham's promise through the giving of the Law to the arrival of Christ. Discover why the Law was never meant to save us but to diagnose our condition, how Jesus fulfilled what we could never accomplish, and how Christmas opened the door for all people to become sons and daughters of God.
