Linktree: https://linktr.ee/AnalyticIn this segment of Notorious Mass Effect, Analytic Dreamz breaks down "Love Hangover," the latest collaboration between Jennie, the iconic BLACKPINK member, and Dominic Fike, the versatile American singer-songwriter known for his indie-pop vibes. Released on January 31, 2025, "Love Hangover" not only signifies a new chapter in Jennie's solo career but also marks her debut album "Ruby," set for release on March 7, 2025. The track, produced by Jennie and Ido Zmishlany with Dominic Fike's distinctive touch, blends retro soul with contemporary pop, delving into the theme of love's intoxicating, often toxic nature. The music video, directed by Bradley & Pablo and starring Riverdale's Charles Melton alongside Jennie, is a visual feast. It begins with Melton at Jennie's grave, leading into a narrative where Jennie returns from the dead, symbolizing an inability to move on from a destructive relationship. With scenes like Jennie choking on an engagement ring and being struck by lightning, the video's imagery powerfully complements the song's lyrics about being stuck in a cycle of unhealthy love.On Spotify, "Love Hangover" quickly made its mark, featured on Today's Top Hits with over 70 million playlist reach in the first hour. In South Korea, it debuted at #17 on Bugs and #118 on Genie, though it did not chart on Melon at the time of recording. While exact Billboard rankings were not yet available, the song's global appeal through streaming platforms is undeniable. The cultural impact is evident through fan engagement, with #JENNIE_LoveHangover trending on social media, driving organic streaming. Upcoming live performances in Los Angeles, New York, and Seoul from March 6-10, 2025, are anticipated to further amplify its commercial success. The high-profile nature of the music video also positions "Love Hangover" for potential TV and movie placements.Analytic Dreamz concludes that "Love Hangover" successfully merges K-pop with indie-pop, appealing to a diverse audience through its storytelling, visual artistry, and emotional resonance, setting the stage for further chart success and a vibrant tour.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/analytic-dreamz-notorious-mass-effect/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Pop critic, chart analyst, writer of Slate's "Why Is This Song No. 1?", and host of the podcast Hit Parade, Chris Molanphy, joins DJ Louie once again for the second part of our series on Diana Ross. This episode, Louie and Chris discuss Diana's initially rocky transition from lead singer for The Supremes into solo superstar and how she finally scored a solo #1 with an unexpected, avant-garde cover of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" in 1970. They then discuss her spotty track record through the early-mid '70s, sometimes scoring massive hits with mostly adult-contemporary ballads like "Touch Me in the Morning" and "Do You Know Where You're Going To", but just as often releasing records that made little impact, all while pursuing a secondary career as a movie star most notably in her Oscar-nominated performance as Billie Holiday in 1972's Lady Sings the Blues. Louie and Chris then chronicle various pop movements that coincided with and affected Diana's career in this '70s- the racial segregation of radio, the birth of the female pop singer-songwriter like Carole King and Joni Mitchell, innovative R&B artists like Roberta Flack and Chaka Khan- Diana's third wind as a disco queen, beginning with 1976's smash "Love Hangover", 1979's "The Boss" and eventually, her blockbuster, career-defining collaboration with Chic's Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, 1980's Diana and it's legendary singles, "I'm Coming Out" and "Upside Down". Finally, Louie and Chris debate what allowed Diana to beat the odds, defying pop's ageist bent with hits across three decades and what exactly makes Diana one of the ultimate Tier 1 Icons in the official Pop Pantheon. Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Florence LaRue, Star of Legendary Music Group, “The 5th Dimension” and Author About Harvey's guestFlorence LaRue was born in Plainfield, New Jersey, but moved to Glenside, Pennsylvania, when she was young. She began her musical education studying dance and violin. Her family moved to Los Angeles, California, where she earned an Associate's Degree in Music from Los Angeles City College. She later received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from California State University. In 1966, Ms. LaRue was approached by Lamonte McLemore and Marilyn McCoo to join their recently formed group the 5th Dimension. LaRue nearly always sang female lead on one song per album, with McCoo taking the lead on one song as well; otherwise she sang the alto voice parts along with McCoo's soprano, being featured prominently on Stoned Soul Picnic, or shared the lead with McCoo on songs including "Blowing Away", "Puppet Man", "Save the Country", and "Sweet Blindness". After McCoo's departure, LaRue was lead singer on hit songs including "Love Hangover" (1976). As a member of the 5th Dimension, LaRue received six Grammy Awards, including Grammy Award for Record of the Year for "Up, Up and Away" (1968) and "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In" (1969).She appeared in the CBS movie of the week Happy with Dom DeLuise. She is married to Laurence P. Kantor. In June 2016, LaRue and the group performed in The Villages, Florida, just days after the Orlando nightclub shooting. LaRue took the opportunity to share her thoughts on the events: "We will not be terrorized. We know what's happening in the world, but this is a song about good health, love, peace and happiness. We still believe in those things today," she stated before performing one of the band's hit singles, "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In".For more interviews and podcasts go to: https://www.harveybrownstoneinterviews.com https://www.florencelarue.com/https://www.facebook.com/Florence-LaRue-1419454508346282/https://www.linkedin.com/in/florence-larue-922b8511https://www.facebook.com/5thDimensionFansPage#florencelarue #harveybrownstoneinterviews

Party Favorz is back with volume two of the Top Dance Songs of 2020 and this one digs deeper. One of the constraints of 2020 is the pandemic resulted in clubs and venues shutting down. Billboard's Dance Club chart is based on select DJ responses to track and create that chart and without input — the chart was suspended in March. "Love Hangover 2020" by Diana Ross was the last song to top that chart back in March before its demise. Leave it to the queen to have the last word. While I use charts as a basis for compiling my year-end sets — they aren't the final word; rather a guide. Usually, I use a variety of charts that differ significantly like Billboard's Dance Club, Electronic Dance Music, and Top 100 charts to compile these sets. This year, I added Beatport, Spotify, and YouTube streams as a basis for making my decisions on what's included in the Top Dance Songs of 2020. There is some consistency in that they all tend to agree on the top 10 - 20 songs but differ wildly from there. "Roses" by SAINt JHN (Imanbek Remix) has topped everyone's list. But, "Rain On Me" by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, "ily" by surf mesa featuring Emilee, "Ride It." by Regard, "Breaking Me" by Topic & A7S, "Higher Love" by Kygo and Whitney Houston, "Head & Heart" by Joel Corry X MNEK, "Secrets" by Regard & RAYE, and "Don't Stop Now" by Dua Lipa have been fairly consistent on most of their year-end charts. From there, everything wildly differs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zToEPpFEN8 That's where YouTube comes into play. I look at the total number of views for videos and then cross reference the charts to base my decisions. Everyone can reasonably disagree on the inclusion of certain songs but Party Favorz attempts to hit all the high notes of the year as long as they had a certain amount of impact on the listener. That and my personal favorites will always be included. You'll also notice some carryover from 2019. Songs that were massive the previous year that continued to chart and were in heavy rotation on radio or in the clubs (for a while) and songs that were released in late 2019 but hadn't peaked until the next year but already had enough impact to be included on both year-end charts. Ultimately, I decide what gets included and frankly, you won't find a more comprehensive compilation for any given year in dance music than Party Favorz. My goal is to provide you with a soundtrack to your life at any given moment in time the Top Dance Songs of 2020 is the defenitive time capsule. As a result, I always recommend you download and store these sets because 10 - 20 years from now, you'll be glad you did.

What has always been known in the U.S. as the Hot 100 had existed for nearly fifteen years as numerous charts, tracking and ranking the most popular singles of the day in several areas. During the 1940s and 1950s, popular singles were ranked on three significant charts: • Best Sellers in Stores • Most Played by Jockeys • Most Played in Jukeboxes On June 17, 1957, Billboard discontinued the Most Played in Jukeboxes chart, as the popularity of jukeboxes waned and radio stations incorporated more and more rock-oriented music into their playlists. The week ending July 28, 1958 was the final publication of the Most Played By Jockeys. On August 4, 1958, Billboard premiered one main all-genre singles chart: the Hot 100. The Hot 100 quickly became the industry standard and Billboard discontinued the Best Sellers In Stores chart on October 13, 1958. The Billboard Hot 100 is still the standard by which a song's popularity is measured in the United States. The Hot 100 is ranked by radio airplay audience impressions as measured by Nielsen, sales data compiled by Nielsen (both at retail and digitally) and streaming activity provided by online music sources. The Easter Beagle has arrived and is delivering a basket full of circuit and anthems with a smattering of t-dance funky house delights to lighten the load. This set is packed with the biggest circuit tribal house tracks that will energize your at home workouts with massive favorites like "Kings & Queens" by Ava Max — a song so good that I included two remixes by Jack Chang and Danny Verde. Guy Scheiman teams up with the immortal Alan T and delivers the sizzling, timely, and camp track #Stay the Fuk Home. The song is so deliberate that you just want to break the quarantine and mix it up on the floor. Tonight's quarantine is to continue in the following fashion. And it goes like this: you, you to the right, YOU to the left Can you move? CDC, please assist me in rounding up the infected. Not you, perhaps you, and NEVER you. We're liking what's appearing over here in this corner with the face masks and hazmat suits — social distancing is always welcome -Alan T We've got a new remix of Lady Gaga's fabulous "Stupid Love" by Jack Chang, and Dirty Disco turn Ladi Rosa's "I Ain't No Taylor Swift" into t dubalicious one-liner. 80's teen Diva, Debbie Gibson drops her fist in ages "Girls Night Out," which is a fun playful track but it's the Tracy Young Disco remix that makes the song shine. Speaking of Disco, Alex Newell has a smoking hot track that just dropped called "Boy, You Can Keep It." This is one of my current favs but instead of delivering the amazing disco rework by Tracy Young — I used the darker Chus & Ceballos remix, which delivers sexually ambiguous vocals (a technique made famous by Zhu years ago) so much so that you'd never recognize it. The song hasn't even charted yet, so Tracy's uplifting version will appear in a future Dance Club set. Another personal favorite, is Halsey's "You Should Be Sad," which in the hands of Yinon Yahel (who makes several appearances here) is a slice of circuit heaven if not for the fact that it's too short but I'll take it. Kristine W makes two appearances in this set. The first is a DJ Paulo & Soriano 2020 update of her classic "Feel What You Want," which is by far one of the best remixes of this track I've ever heard. The other is her latest, which is an unlikely cover of the Heart classic rock track "Barracuda." Kristine definitely has the muscular vocals to take on Ann Wilson and I applaud her choice in this selection but as someone who is a massive fan of the Wilson sisters, it's difficult for me to separate the two. Still, the song comes with a bevy of remixes with Dinaire + Bissen delivering the most commercial version. For this set, I went with Tony Moran's remix. Don't be surprised when some other DJ remixes the original in the next six months, which would be interesting. Once again, the boys from Houston (Dirty Disco) deliver another stellar yet unexpected remix of an old school gay icon — Miss Patsy Cline. Remixing "Walking After Midnight" by this country crooner who has a massive gay following must have been a challenge but the end result paid off BIG TIME. They also turn in another delectable remix of Dua Lipa's latest "Break My Heart." Finally, one of Party Favorz all-time favorite DIVAS, Miss Diana Ross has racked up yet another #1 on the Billboard's Dance Club chart for "Love Hangover," which peaked on the Disco charts back in 1976 and appears here with Ralphi Rosario doing the remix honors. One of the things I noticed about this week's chart is that it barely changed, if at all. I'm also seeing a lot of classic tracks and/or modern-day reworks of the originals in my DJ services — meaning, fewer new releases. While it's too soon to see how this all plays out — never fear because you know Party Favorz always has an ace up my sleeve to keep the party going. From my patio, it's a beautiful day outside but we're expecting a major storm with possible flooding and tornadoes later this afternoon. If you're in the southern part of the United States,
The Easter Beagle has arrived and is delivering a basket full of circuit and anthems with a smattering of t-dance funky house delights to lighten the load. In an upcoming Facebook Live and Spreaker episode later today and tomorrow I discuss two iconic love songs of all time Diana Ross's Love Hangover and Donna Summer's Love To Love You Baby, plus songs that almost made the cut.
We're back, Boogie Babies! And I've got another announcement, but you'll have to listen to the show to hear it! It's my favorite time of the year, Valentine's Day, so i put together a couple of my favorite Disco and R&B love songs.
WNDP Welcomed Scott Easterday to the show to discuss "The Love Hangover" and the Twentieth year of the annual day after Valentines show. Two of the performers this year dropped by to chat about the show and play some tunes. Ben and Laurel Parks play in the band "Of Tree" and we had a great time with them! Scott and Clint also had a chance to chat with Richard Alwyn Fisher, who started the tradition twenty years ago. Check out it out and join us at The Record Bar on Friday! https://www.thelovehangover.com/ https://therecordbar.com/ http://oftreemusic.com/ https://www.facebook.com/Wednesday-Night-Drinking-Practice-1125028004240643/?ref=bookmarks

Why is she being featured: "Sweet Thing", she is breaking out, and I don't want to cover disco yet. 91. Short story: 92. Born and raised in Chicago housing projects, the oldest of five. Started singing early, formed a girl group at age eleven. Changed her name to Chaka Adunne Aduffe Hodarhi Karifi at thirteen and started running around with the Fred Hampton and the Panthers. In 1969, at age16, she dropped out of high school, left the Panthers, and focused on singing with local bands. In 1973, she joined the band Rufus. The first album in 1973 was a dud, but Stevie Wonder was so impressed by Chaka Khan's vocals, he wanted to write a song specifically for her. "Tell Me Something Good", written by Stevie, on their 1974 album won a Grammy. (He also played harmonica on 'I Feel For You'.). But, because of her increasing popularity the record label started calling the group Rufus "Featuring" Chaka Khan, (which was the title of their fourth album that had the hit single "Sweet Thing") and this caused tension in the band. She was back and forth with the group for a few years. Went solo in 1978 and became a legend. (10 Grammys, 8 of them solo) 93. [Audio Clip] 94. Open Comments: 95. Movie Scene 96. Notable releases 97. Critic Review: "Car Wash initially left critics unimpressed (except for Roger Ebert who correctly called it a "wash-and-wax M*A*S*H") but over the decades both the film and the soundtrack have left their mark on pop culture. With its Afros, bell-bottoms, cars as big as boats, and disco soundtrack, Car Wash is a perfect time-capsule of America's bicentennial year." - http://www.threemoviebuffs.com/review/car-wash.html 108. Critic Review: Unlike its contemporary Good Times, What's Happening!! isn't committed to presenting enlightening social commentary or providing empowering African-American role models. Most of the problems the gang faces here are typical of what kids from any community have to deal with. While the show has its funny moments (especially when Dee offers her strong, often sarcastic opinions), much of the show's humor stems from a slapstick-like comedy style that's reminiscent of the minstrel show stereotypes of the 1930s - https://www.commonsensemedia.org/tv-reviews/whats-happening 116. On this week's LadyWatch agenda: Ryan and Jason gush over their respective personal brushes with LadyWatch through Laurie Metcalf and Judy Garland over the week, also generally gush over Rose Marie and her doc "Wait for Your Laugh", gush over Judy Gold's written words on the CK garbage monster (while Ryan gushes over Jason's written words on Pamela Adlon's place in the eye of the storm), and absolutely GUSH over Diana Ross's choice of budget-conscious clothing retailer (and sensible waist-worn fashion accessory). PLUS - BIG LADYWATCH NEWS ABOUT CÉLINE DION'S 50TH BIRTHDAY (and how you can be involved!), Angelyne gets an unauthorized biopic, Meryl Streep meets Anna Wintour (spoiler alert: it's underwhelming), Jenifer Lewis sings her memoirs, Joely Fisher rolls joints for Connie Stevens and Lucille Ball, Carol Channing becomes a namesake, Ruthie Henshall almost becomes a Princess, and MUCH MUCH MORE!
This week we have a super fun episode about a song you probably don't remember by a band you definitely don’t remember: Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX’s “Loose” by Primer 55. We analyze the “new style” found in probably the most generic rap metal song in existence, aided and abetted by Incubus’s DJ and hed PE’s Jarod Gomes. What does “get loose” mean in this context? Why doesn't this vocalist sound the least bit loose? Also: literal nu metal cringe, decoding the sexual messaging behind particular hairstyles in the nu metal community, contracting conjunctivitis in a push pit, an odd amount of singer J-Sin’s personal acquaintances in the comment section. Music We Like: Lil Uzi Vert’s “Luv Is Rage 2” and Old Baby’s “Love Hangover”

Are you ready for the new year? Well, I am sure that many of you are. We know that we sure are. Hopefully, since we are not in an election year cycle, things will begin to slow down just a little and we might get a few minutes of peace. NOT! 2017 begins a new cycle that continues through 2023. ALANNAH MCCREADY recently released her debut EP Love Hangover produced by award-winning Nashville publisher Dan Hodges and renowned Los Angeles based producer John Fields. Alannah began singing, appropriately, in cowboy boots and hat. But it wasn’t in Nashville, at the Ryman Auditorium. It was north of Minneapolis in the ex-urban flatlands of Blaine, Minnesota where she stood atop the back of a corduroy couch in 1991 as a four year old, in a ninja turtle costume and ice skates and announced the beginning of her singing career. In 2010, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison but not before winning two National Division 1 Championships as a goalie for the Badgers. She lived in NYC for a few years after college, working in the sports marketing world, until she fatefully heard Nashville beckoning. So while music has a big part of her heart, hockey has a special place in it too “Hockey has been a part of my entire family growing up and it brought me to a million different places. My brother and I were always around it, often spending summers training in Toronto and flying every which way for games. I think almost every person on the McCready side has strapped on the skates at least a hundred times in their lives. It’s the Scandinavian blood.”

Yesterday on the Local Beat, we were filled to capacity for our three hour show (a recap with interviews coming soon) and so I had to exclude one of the coolest shows next week, the Love Hangover, which is happening at the Pour House Music Hall in downtown Raleigh once more. However, because The Love Hangover is just this cool I decided to do a watered down, short version of the Local Beat, for podcast only. Caitlin Cary and Matt Douglas came in to play some tunes and chat while we got the creator of the Love Hangover, Richard Alwyn to call in from NYC to talk about the history of the show and it's many new incarnations across the United States.
