We are living in a crazy world, my friends. I wanted to do an episode on the effect the Coronavirus is having, not only on the film industry at large but also on how it will affect the indie filmmaker. With major events canceled like SXSW, MIPTV, and Cinequest, indie filmmakers are already feeling the effect. Twenty four of the largest theater owners in China have pulled out of CinemaCon, the largest convention of international theatrical exhibitors. Is the Cannes Film Festival and Market next?Production has stopped on Mission Impossible 7, which was shooting in Italy and the extremely popular The Amazing Race reality show has been suspended. The new James Bond film No Time to Die has been pushed until Nov 2020. Disney's Mulan, which is a love letter to the Chinese market has canceled it's China premiere and the release date in the US is up in the air.The Chinese box office has been at a standstill. 70,000 screens have been closed since January with no word when they will open. This has cost $2 billion in lost revenue to the Chinese and world film industry. The worldwide box office has lost $4 billion to date and growing each day. The theatrical box office was down 26.6% vs 2018 and this could be a MAJOR nail in the coffin of an already vulnerable theatrical business. We are in crazy times, my tribe. In this episode, I go over how this event is affecting indie filmmakers, what they can do to prepare, adjust and/or pivot in the coming weeks and months. It has never been more important for filmmakers to adopt the Filmtrepreneurial Method. Diversification of revenue streams is the only way filmmakers can hedge their bets in the uncertain times ahead.Sit back, pull up a stiff drink and take a listen.

During his tenure, he has restructured the ownership group, rebranded the league marks and reacquired the league's media rights, leading to exponential growth in nationally televised reach. In 2019, Brown welcomed ten new partners to the league, introduced a creative and sophisticated digital team (generating 194% growth in social traffic, 97% growth in social engagement and 393% growth in web traffic) and achieved a 16% increase in total attendance year-over-year. During the 2020 COVID impacted year, Brown oversaw the most successful year in MLL's history in terms of overall engagement, generating over 150mm digital impressions over an eight (8) day tournament. Further, the league's impressions on ESPN and ESPN + increased by 150% and 1600%, respectively. Brown is an accomplished executive with over 25 years of leadership experience who has spearheaded the launch and growth of multiple sports media outlets. Most recently, he was the President/CEO of One World Sports, where he launched the HD channel across both linear and digital platforms to over 50 million US subscribers through cable and satellite distributors as well as over-the-top (OTT) platforms. In 2010, Brown became President of Univision Sports, the leading media outlet for Spanish-speaking Americans, where he created and launched Univision Deportes to over 15 million US homes. As part of this effort, Brown oversaw the rebranding of Univision Sports. Additionally, he not only supervised the production of the highest rated primetime sports broadcast in the channel's history at the time with the Mexico vs. Honduras match in the 2011 Gold Cup, but he developed Univision's nightly version of SportsCenter, “Univision Deportes Extra” or “UDX” as well as the network's signature soccer pregame program, “Futbol Central”. Brown has extensive experience in the international markets. Based in Hong Kong and Singapore, he launched ESPN's business in Asia while serving as the Managing Director of both ESPN Asia and ESPN Star Sports. Multi-Grammy and Latin Grammy Award-winning musician Marc Anthony has another project set up with ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS), a comedy set in the world of social media. Liked is described as a comedy series about a millennial who does whatever it takes, including lying, to achieve fame as an online influencer. Anthony and VIS president JC Acosta announced the project Wednesday (April 14) during a pre-recorded keynote session as part of the digital MIPTV international television market. The series will feature Anthony's music, and the multitalent will serve as both executive producer and executive music producer for the show. Anthony's Magnus Studios shingle will produce together with Latin American production house Lanugo Media and Mundoloco Animation Studios. Liked will be the second collaboration between VIS and Magnus, joining the animated kids' series Gloria Wants to Know It All , which follows an alpaca from the city who spends time at her grandfather's house in the country, and as a result, learns about Latin American culture. “Our continued partnership with Magnus Studios and a talented artist like Marc is a testament to our studio's commitment to telling compelling, unique stories that resonate with audiences around the world,” said Acosta. Added Anthony: “We are very excited and it is an honor to have the opportunity to work with ViacomCBS International Studios on these projects that mean so much to us and to share with the world stories that bring to light our culture.” From Publisher: Billboard Marc Anthony apologizes for concert's ‘total collapse' Marc Anthony publicly apologized to his fans on Sunday after what he called “a total collapse of the streaming platform” that was to show his virtual concert worldwide over the weekend. Anthony's “One Night Only” show was promoted globally, with a guest performance by Daddy Yankee. But Anthony later said “overwhelming demand” caused a major tech glitch that kept the show from going on. The singer pledged: “You can rest assured that I am doing everything in my power to make sure that the people that spent their hard-earned money have the opportunity to see the show as soon as possible and will make it right for you all.” The snafu sparked online complaints by disappointed fans, and made Anthony a trending Twitter topic when they could not access the show. At 1:30 a.m., the pop star, 52, said that the show was not going on, and issued an apology via social media.

The Rikishi Driver Talk Show - Episode 30 (Stefano Milla) -A passionate film director renown for his exploratory techniques, and courage to embrace various film genres from fantasy/action/adventure and horror. His latest feature films are inspired by the life of Richard the Lionheart. Filmed in evocative, historical locations, with a dedicated cast and expert crew who have remained faithful to Stefano throughout his varied, original, if not controversial career. "Richard: The Lionheart" and "Richard the Lionheart: Rebellion" mark an apex of years of experience, bringing together all the true elements of a real epic. "Richard the Lionheart" is released in US by LIONSGATE and stars Malcolm McDowell as King Henry II. In October 2011 he directed "Solid State", proving yet again his desire to explore unknown territories. A sci-fi movie distributed by Wonderphil Productions, presented by Wonderphil Entertainment at MIPTV, Marché du Film in Cannes and American Film Market 2011-12. The cast of "Solid State" included Debbie Rochon, Suzi Lorraine and the star Vivica A. Fox (Independence Day/ Kill Bill vol.1). In 2011 his feature/TV film "Kingdom of Gladiators" won an Excellence Award at the Indie Film Fest in La Jolla. It's again a visual feast of stunning, intriguing locations, with gladiatorial fights to the bitter end marking the destiny of a kingdom. Right from the start of his career his work was appreciated and seen throughout major international festivals, not only at Cannes, but also at Dragon*Con Independent Film Festival. His first feature film "Armaghedon" (1993) was distributed in home video, Followed by a period of short film releases. 2001 saw the release of "La Via Della Gloria" (The Road of Glory), which was selected for the Donatello David Award and Golden Ciak, the major awards in Italy. His next feature "Shan - The Ancient Heart of Natural People" was produced with support from the United Nations, and screened at the UN Headquarters in New York during the Permanent Forum of Indigenous People. This project grew out of experimental theatre shows (2005) in collaboration with the Celtic music group Lab Graal. As producer he won the Kodak Showcase Award at the Turin Film Festival (2006) with the short movie "Guilty Until Proven Innocent" which was also seen at Cannes Film Festival in the same year. 2006 was a fruitful year as Stefano began working with the NWE (European Wrestling Federation) creating a TV series with international wrestling stars, leading to the production and direction (2007) of a pilot TV show "Black & 4X", with the WWE star Kishi as main character. In 2009 he returned to action and adventure with "Claang the Game" distributed worldwide by Wonderphil Productions, earning yet another Excellence Award at the Indie Film Fest. Claang Entertainment is his own production company set up specifically to offer a structure open to all forms of exploration regarding the film world of fantasy and action. Film critics have admired Stefano's scenographic and photographic skills, his capacity to create and produce epic feature films with limited resources and time deadlines, free from preconceptions and a "traditional" film approach. Whether it's to be considered a quality is obviously debatable, but the numerous awards and professional recognition he has gathered along his journey are proof of a director with clear, original, enjoyable ideas. In November 2014 his short movie "The Third Layer" won the Critics' Choice Award at the Medieval Short Film Festival in Italy. --Powered by KnokX Pro Entertainment-- --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/therikishidrivertalkshow/support

Paul Zimic and Alison Reid are the producers of the new documentary THE WOMAN WHO LOVES GIRAFFES is screening at The Newport Beach FF ABOUT Our award-winning film is about a trailblazing scientist who overcame every obstacle she faced on her pioneering journey to study giraffes in South Africa in the ’50’s - but was unable to overcome gender discrimination in academia. This is the uplifting story of her re-discovery. They just won Best Documentary and the Audience Award at the Sonoma International FF and the Audience Award at the Sebastopol Documentary FF. The Woman Who Loves Giraffes - Trailer The Woman Who Loves Giraffes - Website TheWomanWhoLovesGiraffes.com Twitter.com/AnneDaggMovie – Poignant documentary about pioneering zoologist, women’s activist, and author Dr. Anne Innis Dagg – “…fine storytelling, combining ecology and social-justice issues while focusing on a woman ahead of her times” – Toronto Star “A must-see doc about one of Canada’s greatest scientists” – POV Magazine (Anne Innis Dagg and giraffe at Brookfield Zoo, Chicago 2016. Photo: Elaisa Vargas) TORONTO (April 2, 2019) – Following a successful theatrical run and sold-out film festival screenings across Canada –the critically acclaimed feature documentary THE WOMAN WHO LOVES GIRAFFES bowed at the Sonoma International Film Festival taking home Best Documentary Feature and the Audience Award for Best Documentary. Just prior to winning these awards, the filmmakers signed an exclusive distribution agreement with leading worldwide distributer, Off the Fence. THE WOMAN WHO LOVES GIRAFFES re-traces the trail-blazing journey of Dr. Anne Innis Dagg, who in 1956, at only 23 years old, became the first person in the world to scientifically research the behaviour of an animal in the wilds of Africa, four years before Jane Goodall ventured into the world of chimpanzees and seven years before Dian Fossey left to work with mountain gorillas. The documentary offers an intimate account of her life as a young woman through personal correspondence and original 16mm film, juxtaposed with a first-hand look at the devastating reality that giraffes are facing today. The film explores the insurmountable barriers Dagg faced as a female biologist whose research findings ultimately became the foundation for many scientists following in her footsteps. Though her pioneering efforts were groundbreaking, upon her return to Canada, her career as a professor was destroyed when she applied for tenure at the University of Guelph in the 1970s and was denied. It was the catalyst that transformed Dagg into a feminist activist. The film’s impact on audiences led to the University issuing a rare apology to Dagg last month, delivered by Dr. Jonathan Newman, Dean of the College of Biological Science (CBS), which “recognized and confronted errors of the past” and confirmed that the University of Guelph has become a “more respectful, diverse, and equitable place to work” since that time. Dr. Newman announced the creation of the Dr. Anne Innis Dagg Summer Research Scholarship in “recognition of her pioneering research on, and significant contributions to, the study of giraffe,” to be awarded annually to one female undergraduate student majoring in either Zoology or Biodoversity. The exclusive worldwide distribution deal was negotiated by the film’s Executive Producer, Paul Zimic and Off the Fence Head of Acquisitions, Loren Syer-Willoughby. Off the Fence will launch the film at the upcoming MIPTV market in Cannes later this month. Syer-Willoughby says, "We have been tracking this project for quite some time now. The overall story was a perfect fit for Off the Fence. The team worked so hard to deliver such a beautiful documentary with not only heart, humour but also a strong conservation message. Anne Dagg is an absolute inspiration, which I think will resonate with audiences around the world. Her pioneering work in the early days of giraffe research makes her one of the key players we will always turn to when we think of giraffes. " THE WOMAN WHO LOVES GIRAFFES is directed and written by Alison Reid and produced by Joanne Jackson and Alison Reid. Executive Producer is Paul Zimic. The documentary features the voices of Tatiana Maslany, Victor Garber, David Chinchilla, and Lindsay Leese who read letters written by young Anne, Anne’s husband, Ian Dagg, and Anne’s mother, Mary Quayle Innis. The film was made with the participation of Ontario Creates Film Fund, Telefilm Canada and the Rogers Group of Funds through the Theatrical Documentary Program, the Rogers Documentary Fund, KinoSmith Inc., and Rogers Telefund. It is a Bell Media/Crave Original Documentary. SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS: Twitter Facebook Instagram
