The Intersection of Trump, Iran, and the Moral Limits of War What should Christians think about the U.S. war with Iran, Israel's role in the conflict, and the risk of a wider Middle East war? In this Good Faith Podcast episode, Curtis Chang and New York Times columnist David French unpack the escalating U.S.-Iran war through the lens of Christian theology, just war theory, constitutional checks and balances, and the moral limits of presidential power. They explore whether America's military action against Iran is just, legal, or dangerously reckless, while also addressing Israel, regime change, MAGA foreign policy, and the growing risk of a wider global conflict. When Dehumanisation Comes Home — HoCoSo Conversation (13 January 2026)In this compelling episode of the HoCoSo Conversation, host Jay Humphries and psychotherapist/philosopher Dr. Andreas Schreiber explore the language, framing, and institutional dynamics that shape our collective understanding of justice, power, and human dignity.Recorded on 13 January 2026, this conversation takes a thoughtful turn into the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old American citizen who was shot and killed by a federal immigration agent in Minneapolis during a large enforcement operation earlier that month. Video evidence, official statements, and private autopsy reports — some released after the recording — have produced deeply divergent public narratives about what happened. Minnesota officials, community members, and legal observers continue to raise questions about accountability and transparency, and at least one federal prosecutor reportedly resigned in protest over investigative decisions. Using this case as a starting point — and recorded before subsequent incidents, including another fatal shooting of Alex Pretti — the episode examines how dehumanisation appears in language and policy, how public discourse can shift blame and narrow empathy, and how these processes can erode trust in institutions. The discussion also extends to broader themes, including the rise of artificial intelligence, future socioeconomic structures such as universal income, and what they might mean for human identity and purpose. This episode is not about simple answers or partisanship. It is about patterns of language, power, and permission — and the crucial question of what is required to defend human dignity in an increasingly complex world. For more details on Dr. Andreas Schreiber:www.curavitae.euwww.curavitae.eu/logotherapie-existenzanalyse00:00 Introduction to the HoCoSo Conversation01:41 The Renee Good Case: A Shocking Investigation03:21 ICE Agents and Community Tensions04:33 The Shooting Incident: A Detailed Account07:15 Media Spin and Public Reaction10:32 Dehumanization and Its Consequences19:08 Historical Parallels and Modern Implications28:08 Captain Mark Kelly's Stand for Democracy30:55 Iranian Regime's Tactics of Fear31:43 US Hypocrisy and Military Actions32:35 Civilian Casualties and Global Reactions36:03 The Power of Language in Shaping Reality48:40 Dehumanization and the Role of AI49:41 Universal Income and Human Purpose51:32 Potential Consequences of a Controlled Society01:06:29 The Importance of Words in Preventing Dehumanization01:07:23 Conclusion and Call to ActionFollow us on Instagram: @hocosoconversation and Linkedin: HoCoSo Conversation

The Melissa Iteld Jurin Show-Potential Consequences For The Upcoming Election by Frank MacKay
Last month, former Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi suggested that local and state authorities in California, a sanctuary state, could arrest federal agents for enforcing federal immigration law, saying that while “the president may enjoy absolute immunity courtesy of his rogue Supreme Court, those who operate under his orders do not.” The former speaker, as well as other mayors and governors who see fit to nullify federal law, should take a moment and reread the supremacy clause of the U.S. Constitution, which “details that local state authorities are subject to treaties and the laws that the federal government makes. And, therefore, pursuant to those laws, they are subordinate,” argues Victor Davis Hanson on today's edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In a Few Words.” “We know in 1961-63, we had another attempt to nullify the supremacy clause. Southern governors in Mississippi and Arkansas and Alabama said, 'Federal law does not apply here. The Supreme Court ruling does not apply here. In our opinion, we can run our schools the way local people want. And we're gonna resist you.' The Eisenhower, and then later the Kennedy administration, said, 'No, you're not. We have the federal government's military, and we can federalize and hold you in contempt and arrest you because of the supremacy clause.'"

Where there appears to be a fair bit of shock and surprise in the general public, for those who have tracked the story closest, the feeling could be found along the spectrum from resignation to dismay. This did not happen overnight - and for those given responsibility for our nation's sea power, this was only a matter of time. By acts of commission and omission, the nation that likes to call itself the world's greatest - because we are no longer the largest - seapower, finds itself here; The Navy will reportedly sideline 17 vessels due to a manpower shortage that makes it difficult to properly crew and operate ships across the fleet. …The ships include two replenishment ships, one fleet oiler, a dozen Spearhead-class Expeditionary Fast Transports and two forward-deployed Navy expeditionary sea bases – the USS Lewis Puller, based in Bahrain and the USS Herschel "Woody" Williams, based in Souda Bay, Greece. The effort is known as the "great reset" and is awaiting approval from Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa Franchetti. The change will reduce Navy demands for officers by 700 mariners. No amount of spin or PAO squid ink can hide this carbuncle - so we're going to dive into it on the next Midrats Podcast. Returning to Midrats to get everyone up to speed is Dr. Sal Mercogliano, Chair Department of History, Criminal Justice and Political Science at Campbell University Former merchant mariner, contributor to USNI Proceedings, Sea History, Naval History, and gCaptain. Host of the YouTube channel What's Going on With Shipping.SummaryThe conversation discusses the recent decision by the Navy to sideline 17 vessels due to a manpower shortage. This decision has raised concerns about the impact on the fleet's operational capabilities. The guest, Dr. Sal Mercagliano, explains that this issue has been a long time coming and traces it back to decisions made in the 1980s. He highlights the challenges faced by Military Sealift Command (MSC) in recruiting and retaining mariners, as well as the negative impact of COVID-19 on crew availability. The conversation also touches on the lack of recognition and benefits for CivMars, the civilian mariners who serve on these ships. The conversation explores the challenges and potential solutions for the Military Sealift Command (MSC) and the U.S. merchant marine. The complex chain of command for MSC and the stringent requirements for civilian merchant sailors are discussed. The need to make it easier for people to transition from active duty to MSC is highlighted. The conversation also addresses the issues of training, leave, and travel expenses for MSC mariners. The low recruitment rate from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and the negative experiences of some mariners with MSC are mentioned. The potential consequences of a shortage of mariners during a crisis are examined. The conversation emphasizes the importance of proper allocation of funds and the need for leadership and recognition of mariners' contributions. The lack of visibility and positive messaging about the merchant marine is discussed, along with the need for a national maritime strategy. The importance of logistics and the challenges of maintaining a strong logistics force are highlighted. The conversation concludes with a discussion on the need to reevaluate the role of MSC and the potential benefits of reverting some ships from USNS to USS.TakeawaysThe Navy's decision to sideline 17 vessels due to a manpower shortage raises concerns about the fleet's operational capabilities.Recruiting and retaining mariners has been a long-standing challenge for Military Sealift Command (MSC).The COVID-19 pandemic has further exacerbated the crew availability issue.CivMars, the civilian mariners who serve on these ships, do not receive adequate recognition and benefits for their service. In this episode of "The HyperFast Agent Show," Dan Lesniak addresses the question of whether a real estate brokerage needs to be profitable from an agent's perspective. He emphasizes that while agents, as independent contractors, can easily switch brokerages if needed, a brokerage's profitability ensures long-term stability and confidence. Non-profitable brokerages may cut benefits, services, and staff, increase commissions collected from agents, or force the adoption of ancillary services, all of which can negatively impact agents' productivity and income. Dan advises agents to research and analyze the financial health of their brokerage, considering ownership structures and profitability claims. He cautions against brokerages that misrepresent themselves as technology companies or banks to justify their lack of profitability. Choosing a profitable brokerage with a proven business model reduces the likelihood of disruptive changes and ensures a sustainable business for agents. If you are ready to join eXp realty and would like Dan Lesniak and Keri Shull to personally sponsor you so you have access to two nationally recognized coaching programs text 703-638-4393. Join Dan as he discusses: **Importance of Brokerage Profitability for Long-Term Stability:** - Profitability ensures that the brokerage can maintain consistent services, benefits, and support for agents, reducing the risk of disruptive changes that could negatively impact agents' businesses. **Potential Consequences of Non-Profitability:** - Non-profitable brokerages may cut essential benefits and services, increase commissions and fees collected from agents, and force agents to adopt ancillary services, which can hinder agents' productivity and income. **Advising Agents on Choosing a Brokerage:** - Agents should thoroughly research the financial health and ownership structure of a brokerage, avoiding those that misrepresent their profitability and focusing on those with a proven, profitable business model to ensure a sustainable and stable working environment.
