Welcome to the Bream Fishing Project — October Monthly Report With Brett Geddes back on the mic, we cover a huge month: national comp calendar, honest session breakdowns (the good, the bad, and the donuts), tackle and tech that moved the needle, and bigger-picture news that matters to kayak lure anglers. Around the Grounds (October comps) Hobie — Burrill Lake (Thu 2 Oct, AOY points only, mid-week round) Hobie — BurleyPro Fish Tech, St Georges Basin (4–5 Oct) — Andrew will be there NSW Tournament Series — Grand Final, Botany Bay (25–26 Oct) ABT — Vic Open, Gippsland Lakes (11–12 Oct) ABT — Grand Final, Bemm & Marlo (14–16 Oct) Action Fishing Tournaments — Grand Final, Camden Haven (25–26 Oct) Vic Bream Classics — Round 5, Warrnambool (18–19 Oct) WATA — Boat Rd 3, Swan River (Perth, 5 Oct) ECBS — Grand Final, Sydney Harbour (19 Oct) Segments What Cheeses Me Off — New segment tease — “I think I did a dumb thing” Sessions, Tactics & Lessons Waller Lake — Stunning, but savage: 55 donuts Day 1 (of 75); Jason Marshall ~3.5 kg. Andrew scratched two late Day 2 near the launch — lesson: don't overrun the obvious. Grubs Month (Collective focus) Georges River — ActiveTarget on boat-holes/mooring blocks; Squidgy Wrigglers on 1/16 oz & lighter in 2–3 m; watched fish rise to the drift. Standout fish 36 fork, 32, 30, plus a salmon called on sonar. Tunks Park — All-day grubs, great FFS interactions… and the missed photo that cost places. St Georges Basin prefish — Salmon schools “called” on FFS (cast-to-distance trick worked for Stewie Dunn). Only one legal bream for Andrew. Stewie tangles with a very big mulloway on 5 lb/light gauge — compelling FFS footage shows scale vs bream. Brett's update — Windy spring, bream moody; perch to the rescue. From ~1400 to 1700 EPs, often 30–40/session on blades (Sprat/Tomahawk 85 style). Squid mission ongoing. Big Bite & Big Picture Yellowfin tuna (stickbaits) — Electric surface rushes, chaotic ramps; single stinger hook setups; airborne follows and missed bites provide insane visuals. South Australia fish kill — Coastal oxygen event; tough for communities and tourism. Nature will rebound, but it'll take time. Community shout-outs Andrew “Andy” Kettle — Land-based, night-only EP specialist; surface walkers/high-stick retrieve; “EP ninja” dedication. Leon — Strong Hobie Day 1; three kayak rules: mussel, mussel, no flatties aboard. Gear we mentioned Jabbers travel rods (6-piece) & Upper Cut trebles (12/14/16; strong, sticky; 100-pack jars). BurleyPro HDS Pro visor (better screen & battery headroom); Connector Protectors (stop wet-plug corrosion). Braid 0.4 PE white (rated 8 lb; higher measured break); considering bite-marker dots for strike watching (inspired by Joseph Gardner using multi-colour jigging braid). Shyne Away leader treatment — Degloss + decontaminate to reduce visibility (most effective to up to 10–12 lb leaders). Lovig Bay Boots — Warm/dry, easy winter wear; trying full size run at St Georges Basin. Hobie news — Ownership update discussion; 180 drive aftermarket ceramic roller solution mentioned (alternative when out of warranty). K-spike kayak power pole (Greg Rook; with Tony “Batman” Petty); lightweight 6/8/10 ft; drift chute attachment idea is clever. Regional outlook (VIC/NSW) Early spring bream remain fickle (Aug–Oct lull). Expect ramp-up as temps lift; dusky flathead to become a major play. Daylight savings adds post-work windows. Timestamps / Chapters (Adjust once your final audio export sets exact times.) 00:00 Intro — why this month matters 02:10 Around the Grounds — October comp calendar 08:45 Segment: What Cheeses Me Off (the 10 mm spanner) 12:20 New segment tease: “I think I did a dumb thing” 16:00 Wallaga Lake wrap — donuts, context, and late salvage 20:05 Georges River — grubs + ActiveTarget (fish rising to the drift) 25:10 Tunks Park — the missed photo lesson 28:30 St Georges Basin prefish — calling salmon on FFS; Stewie's big mulloway on 5 lb 34:40 Brett's perch run — 1,700 EPs, blade patterns, squid pains 40:25 Yellowfin stickbait bite — why it's so wild 45:15 South Australia fish kill — what's happening and why it matters 50:00 Community — Andrew “EP ninja” Kettle; Leon's kayak rules 53:10 Gear — Jabbers trebles & rods 56:20 BurleyPro visor + connector protectors 59:15 Braid & bite-markers; Joseph Gardner note 1:02:20 Shyne Away leader matte 1:05:10 Lovig Bay Boots — try-ons at Basin 1:08:40 Hobie ownership chat; 180 ceramic fix; name change note 1:14:30 K-Spike kayak power pole preview 1:18:00 October fishing outlook 1:21:30 Interview workload & what's coming 1:24:30 Hosting change to Podbean & dynamic ads 1:28:45 Outro & subscribe CTA
This sermon is based on Philippians 2:5-12. You can also view each week's sermon/worship service on our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5ncsq_QNvCv61bIwKUpP5A SERIES OVERVIEW: What in the world convinced people back in the Roman world to abandon their beliefs and gods and come to Christ? After all, there were no immediate incentives—no promises of instant and lasting health; no promises of a life of exorbitant happiness; no promises of immediate and continued wealth and no promises of adoring popularity. There were, however, plenty of deterrents. In fact, anyone who became a Christ follower back then could expect a largely negative response from others. So, what in the world convinced them to make such a commitment? Surprisingly, it was the people in the church. And unsurprisingly, it is the same thing today. That's what we want to explore in our new series which we are calling, “Stand Out.”

On Healthy Mind, Healthy Life, host Avik Chakraborty talks with Texas luxury real estate leader Kirstine Openshaw about what actually moves deals in an oversaturated market. Kirstine strips away the hype—pretty brochures and ad spend don't close; trust, community touchpoints, and pain-point clarity do. She unpacks how living through her sons' congenital heart defect (CHD) journeys reshaped her mindset, why detachment from outcomes accelerates growth, and how to read buyer/seller psychology without manipulation. This is a grounded playbook for agents and founders who want referral-driven businesses, sharper messaging, and resilience when markets turn. About the Guest : Kirstine Openshaw is consistently ranked among the top performers in Texas real estate and is an ICON Agent with eXp Realty. A UK-to-Texas transplant, she built a largely referral-based business from zero local sphere. She's also a committed CHD advocate and a self-described “heart-warrior mom.” Key Takeaways: Relationships beat tactics: Tech, AI, and glossy marketing matter after you earn trust through real community contact. Lead with proximity: Host neighborhood events—garage sales, ice-cream trucks, open houses—to create face-to-face touchpoints that warm any future ads. Pain points drive action: Most buyers/sellers move from discomfort, not dreams; craft offers and messages that solve the present problem first. Mindset is operational, not fluffy: Detach from rigid outcomes; it frees options and surfaces better-fit opportunities. Read the room: Share personal stories after rapport; oversharing too early can trigger doubts about your availability. Market cycles require different skills: In frenzy (low rates), coach clients past zero-sum thinking; in slowdowns, uncover true motivations and affordability limits. Build from belief: Clarify why clients should choose you, then map their top concerns and your specific solutions before buying ads. Process for message-market fit: Whiteboard ICP pain points → your interventions → delivery channel (events, video, door-knocking, social). Focus on flexibility: Goals can and should evolve as your vantage point changes. Play the long game: Earn repeat and referral business to reduce ad spend and stabilize revenue. Andrew Gordon & Tara Erickson react to The Flash (2023), the DCEU's highly anticipated sci-fi action blockbuster directed by Andy Muschietti (It, Mama). Ezra Miller (Fantastic Beasts, Perks of Being a Wallflower) stars as Barry Allen aka The Flash, who uses his speed to travel back in time to prevent his mother's murder—only to unravel the multiverse and trigger dangerous consequences. The film features Michael Keaton (Batman 1989, Birdman) returning as Bruce Wayne / Batman in an iconic comeback, alongside Ben Affleck (Justice League, Argo) reprising his version of the Dark Knight. Sasha Calle (The Young and the Restless) makes her debut as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, bringing fresh energy to the Superman legacy. Michael Shannon (Man of Steel, Take Shelter) returns as General Zod in a fierce showdown, joined by Antje Traue (Man of Steel) as Faora-Ul. Kiersey Clemons (Dope, Zack Snyder's Justice League) plays Iris West, Barry's love interest, while Maribel Verdú (Y Tu Mamá También) portrays Nora Allen, and Ron Livingston (Office Space) takes on the role of Henry Allen. Standout and highly searched moments include The Flash's multiverse collisions, Michael Keaton's return with the legendary line “I'm Batman,” the epic Supergirl vs. Zod battles, emotional family reunions between Barry and his parents, and shocking multiverse cameos that thrilled DC fans. Combining time travel, heart, and jaw-dropping superhero spectacle, The Flash stands as both a tribute to the DCEU and a love letter to DC history. Aaron Alexander & Andrew Gordon sit down to review The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023), the prequel in Suzanne Collins' blockbuster YA dystopian saga. Directed by Francis Lawrence (Catching Fire, Mockingjay) and adapted by Michael Lesslie & Michael Arndt, the film takes us 64 years before Katniss Everdeen's time, exploring the origins of President Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth – Billy the Kid), when he's still a mentor in Panem and seeking to restore his family's lost prestige. Standout moments include Snow and Lucy Gray's performances in reaping ceremonies, the provocative “snake pit” element in the Games, and the tension-filled scenes that show Snow's moral decay—especially his final acts as he begins to embrace power at any cost. With lush cinematography, ethical dilemmas, and emotional character arcs, Songbirds & Snakes offers both spectacle and introspection, casting a dark light on how one young man transforms into the tyrant Panem would come to fear. This sermon is based on Romans 1:16-17.

Brendan Kane, founder of Hook Point and author of the bestselling book by the same name, shares his proven frameworks for breaking through the noise on social media and attracting dream clients. He reveals why the biggest mistake video business owners make is selling the service instead of the solution, and how finding strategic partnerships can scale your business faster than chasing individual clients. Brendan also breaks down his unique approach to "storytelling formats" - repeatable structures that consistently drive engagement and results across any industry. Key Takeaways Solve pain points, don't sell services - Focus on the core problems that keep your ideal customers awake at night and position your video skills as the solution to those specific issues Partner with connectors, not just customers - Find the people who already serve your ideal clients at scale rather than trying to reach each customer individually - one partnership could lead to hundreds of projects Use proven storytelling formats - Success comes from finding repeatable content structures (like "Man on the Street" or "Is It Worth It") that match your personality and expertise Measure meaningful metrics - Focus on consistent breakthrough content that demonstrates you're connecting with audiences in your area of expertise, not just vanity metrics like follower count About Brendan Kane Brendan Kane is a digital strategist with two decades of experience helping entrepreneurs, brands, and influencers connect with global audiences. He founded Hook Point in 2018, where he has generated over $1 billion in client revenue and 60 billion views through innovative digital strategies. Brendan has worked with major companies like MTV, Paramount Pictures, IKEA, and Skechers, as well as celebrities such as Taylor Swift and Rihanna. He started in filmmaking, overseeing digital strategies for Paramount Pictures and Lakeshore Entertainment, and pioneered influencer campaigns. What is the thing that actually wakes them up in the middle of the night? And how can you help with your skillset solve that problem." - Brendan Kane "Don't necessarily go direct to the customer but who already reaches your customers at scale and how can you create you know value exchange or a partnership in that direction." - Brendan Kane "If I had to create a video agency today, I would create AI video soup to nuts and I would just find a way... I would just be creating models where I can create AI videos and just start sending it to businesses." - Brendan Kane "I never work with people and our company never works with people to go viral for the sake of going viral, to get views for the sake of going views. It always has to tie into their expertise, their zone of genius." - Brendan Kane "The ROI is as big as your vision... Edge of the Web - An SEO Podcast for Today's Digital Marketer
Google's AI is poised to wipe out half of news publishers' traffic, but Barry Adams isn't here to panic—he's here to bring the hard truths (with a side of hope). On this week's EDGE of the Web, we dive deep into how Google's relentless AI advancements, from overviews to the new AI mode, threaten the very foundation of news publishing. Join host Erin Sparks and News SEO specialist Barry Adams as they break down the seismic shifts hitting news publishers: AI overviews stealing clicks, Top Stories boxes protecting (for now), and why AI mode is a technological hand grenade waiting to go off. Barry shares what's working, what's not, and why keeping up with Google's user experience data from the Chrome browser is harder than ever. We cover how publishers can future-proof themselves—think personalization, paywalls, and bundling—before Google fully flips the AI switch. Side quest: Ever wondered how to train your audience to pay for news in a world where everything's free (thanks, Google)? Barry makes a compelling case for why quality, unique journalism is more vital than ever—even if it means surviving on half your pie. Wrap up by buckling in for the impending Google traffic apocalypse, arming yourself with Barry's don't-panic (but have your towel) wisdom, and getting the inside scoop on what grows in the new AI-powered world of news.
