At the Crexendo UGM, Amit (Bodhi) Bijlani, Co-Founder and CEO of Voxtell AI, joined Technology Reseller News Publisher Doug Green to discuss how his company is reshaping the way service providers deploy conversational AI. Fresh off the CodeFest stage, Bijlani announced the launch of Voxtell AI's NetSapiens plugin—a light, embedded version of the company's full-featured voice AI assistant platform that integrates directly into the NetSapiens customer portal. “Our goal was to make AI accessible to every NetSapiens partner,” Bijlani said. “Now they can resell AI assistants to their customers without leaving the portal—they don't need another login or platform.” Voxtell AI's solution enables inbound and outbound AI calling, two-way SMS, knowledge base integration, lead scoring, data extraction, and recording and transcription—all within a fully white-labeled, reseller-ready environment. The company's new plugin uses NetSapiens single sign-on for frictionless access, allowing MSPs and partners to deploy AI assistants in under a day, while end users can train and launch their assistants in just minutes using existing web or Google Business data. Bijlani explained that the product evolved from analyzing Voxtell's own CDR data and identifying missed opportunities in after-hours and weekend calls. That insight led to a year-and-a-half development effort culminating in a scalable, omnichannel AI assistant platform that's both simple to deploy and deeply customizable. “We're giving service providers a fast, sticky way to add AI value to every account,” Bijlani noted, emphasizing that the solution integrates easily with CRMs and third-party apps through its MCP server. Whether connecting to Salesforce, HubSpot, or industry-specific systems like Open Dental, partners can extend automation and customer engagement without heavy development. For NetSapiens partners, this means new revenue, tighter customer relationships, and faster entry into the AI economy—all without leaving the familiar NetSapiens ecosystem. Learn more: voxtell.ai
In this edition of Plan Sea, hosts Anna Madlener and Wil Burns kick off season three of the podcast with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) researchers Dr. Adam Subhas and Jennie Rheuban to discuss the LOC-NESS project — a small-scale, open-ocean research trial on ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE). The project's co-principal investigators join Anna and Wil to recount the process of receiving a first-of-its-kind permit from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the role of local community engagement, and the project's early findings. A few weeks ago, WHOI completed its highly controlled research trial in the Gulf of Maine to study the environmental safety and efficacy of OAE as a carbon dioxide removal technique. Approved by the EPA after a two-year, rigorous permitting process, the LOC-NESS project introduced small amounts of purified sodium hydroxide – a compound often used to balance the pH of drinking water – to the ocean surface waters, along with a harmless red dye to help track it. This field study came after years of preparation and development, including extensive laboratory experiments, ocean modeling, and a growing body of scientific literature. Dr. Adam Subhas is an Associate Scientist at WHOI and the project lead for LOC-NESS. Adam credits the project's success so far to the comprehensive preparation and collaboration between WHOI scientists and EPA staff — on everything from ocean modeling and biogeochemical impact evaluation, to engaging communities and local industries on what to expect from the research. He also talks about how their pursuit of the first-ever ocean carbon dioxide removal (oCDR) permit under the Marine Protection, Research, and Sanctuaries Act of 1972, helped the LOC-NESS team refine their procedures, improve their approach, and make the project more responsive to feedback from their community.Jennie Rheuban is a WHOI Research Specialist and serves as a co-principal investigator for LOC-NESS. Jennie points to community engagement as a critical component of LOC-NESS's development, recounting the project's years-long effort to engage with questions from a range of stakeholders, including the fishing community. By emphasizing its position as an independent scientific research project without commercial ambitions, WHOI was able to cultivate credibility and gather important community inputs that shaped the scope and methodologies of the research. For example, the team spent additional time researching types of fish larvae in potential field trial regions to bring that information back to the local fisherman.Looking ahead, LOC-NESS researchers will continue to analyze data gathered during this summer's trial to understand the impacts and efficacy of the alkalinity dispersal. More information about LOC-NESS's findings will be shared at the Ocean Sciences Meeting in February 2026.Plan Sea is a semi-weekly podcast exploring ocean-based solutions, brought to you by the Carbon to Sea Initiative & the American University Institute for Responsible Carbon Removal. professorjrod@gmail.comStorage didn't just get bigger; it got personal. We rewind to the late '90s and early 2000s to unpack the clash between Iomega's Zip drive and the laser-lit world of the CD—two formats that taught a generation how to back up, carry, and truly own their data. From the pain of 30‑floppy installs to the thrill of dropping a 700 MB burn into a jewel case, we dig into what made each medium take off, where they stumbled, and why their lessons still shape how we save files today. We start with the super floppy dreams behind Zip 100—engineering choices, bold “Click. Zip. Done.” marketing, and the way creatives, students, and IT teams built daily workflows around blue drives and rugged cartridges. Then we confront the trust crisis of the “click of death,” the lawsuits and lost archives, and how fast‑rising alternatives—CD‑ROM, cheaper external hard drives, and the first USB sticks—changed the game. Along the way, we share real‑world snapshots: college labs checking out Zip disks like library cards, E3 press kits living on cartridges, and NASA quietly slotting Zip into space for portable transfer.Next, lasers take center stage. We chart the CD's leap from digital audio to data with 650–700 MB per disc, the fall in drive costs, and the cultural surge fueled by Myst, Encarta, and Wing Commander. CD‑R and CD‑RW flipped the script by giving anyone the power to publish, archive, and share—burning playlists, handing off portfolios, and shipping software at scale. We revisit the AOL CD blitz, the DVD capacity boom, and the slow fade of optical drives as broadband, flash storage, and cloud sync took over. Through it all, a throughline emerges: good storage changes behavior. When saving is simple, people back up. When media is portable, they create and share more.By the end, you'll see why Zip and CD were more than formats—they were habits, rituals, and signals of identity in an era when data became a part of daily life. Hit play, ride the nostalgia, and take away practical lessons on redundancy, media reliability, and the tradeoffs behind every storage shift. “Taxes are a monster, but we tame it and make it digestible,” says CeeJay Barber, Vice President of Business Development at Datagate. At Navigate 25, Barber sat down with Doug Green, Publisher of Technology Reseller News, to explain why billing is one of the toughest challenges facing managed service providers (MSPs)—and how Datagate is helping them streamline the process. Datagate provides a billing platform purpose-built for MSPs in telecom. The system automates everything from call detail record (CDR) ingestion and taxation to PSA integration and unified invoicing. With over 500 service providers on the platform, Barber stressed the importance of compliance in an increasingly fragmented regulatory landscape: “If you try to take it on by yourself, you'll overcomplicate your processes, overspend, and still risk getting it wrong.” One highlight of the discussion was Datagate's new Halo PSA integration for AT&T's Apex channel. The solution allows provisioning, billing, and customer management to occur within a single workflow, eliminating the need for multiple AT&T portal logins and ensuring billing flows seamlessly back into Datagate. Barber emphasized that Datagate is deeply API-driven, making it a strong fit with Alianza and Metaswitch partners. “Any Alianza partner can work with Datagate,” he noted. “If you're providing voice and need it billed and taxed accurately, we can integrate it into your workflow.” With AI-driven innovation, regulatory complexity, and growing MSP demand for bundled services, Barber positioned Datagate as a critical enabler for service providers looking to scale without sacrificing compliance. Federal Tech Podcast: Listen and learn how successful companies get federal contracts
Connect to John Gilroy on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/john-gilroy/ Want to listen to other episodes? www.Federaltechpodcast.com The federal government manages a great deal of sensitive information that it is reluctant to share with other agencies or organizations. However, isolation means important decision-making data can be inadvertently withheld from leaders. The simple term "collaborate" can be easily applied in a classroom. Still, it becomes almost impossible with petabytes of data that have varying levels of security, such as classified, secret, and top secret. Even if the puzzle of sharing data is solved, the issue of data classification changes and data being attacked with malicious code remains. Sean Berg is the CEO of Everfox, a company that has spent the last twenty-five years solving this data problem by using cross-domain technologies. During the interview, Sean Berg discusses the role of AI in ensuring data integrity, the challenges posed by legacy systems, and the critical nature of data management in national security and digital transformation. Sean Berg moves beyond Cross Domain Solutions to Everfox's Content Disarm and Reconstruct (CDR) technology. With this approach, the document is opened and examined for malicious code, then copied. CDR is a tool for ensuring data integrity and preventing malware infiltration, allowing for safe and secure collaboration between federal entities.

The carbon removal industry stands at a crucial crossroads. While cutting emissions remains essential, avoiding catastrophic warming now requires pulling billions of tons of CO2 from the atmosphere permanently. But as this nascent field grapples with questions of legitimacy, scalability, and accountability, a critical challenge remains: How do we build the infrastructure needed to track, verify, and certify that carbon has actually been removed and stays removed? Meet Hannes Junginger-Gestrich, CEO of Carbonfuture, a company helping define the monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) infrastructure that could transform carbon removal from scattered efforts into a functioning ecosystem. Launched five years ago, Carbonfuture has emerged as what CDR.fyi describes as "the largest facilitator of durable carbon removal" by volume. The company's digital platform integrates data across the carbon removal life cycle, connecting diverse approaches like biochar, enhanced rock weathering, and direct air capture with buyers seeking to meet climate commitments. "We are probably more the crowd, the ground keepers in a stadium that makes sure that everything is provided properly," Hannes explains, using a sports analogy to describe their role: "We are the ground keepers in a stadium [who ensure] the players have a playing field that's in shape and no one gets hurt, and the audience can come and they pay their tickets and have a good experience."The MRV infrastructure becomes crucial as corporate demand for verified carbon removal grows and trust becomes currency. One of the most interesting aspects of the conversation centers on balancing data confidentiality with transparency needs, particularly when collecting data along industrial value chains from agricultural residue producers to biochar processors to end users. Perhaps most telling is Junginger-Gestrich's unwavering commitment to scientific rigor over short-term economic gains: "We never had to trade off between rigor and allowing a not so good project on our platform for economic reasons. We always lean to the scientific and rigorous side." This philosophy has guided Carbonfuture's work with leading buyers like Microsoft, helping develop increasingly sophisticated approaches to carbon removal verification. While Junginger-Gestrich expresses concern about delayed emission reductions globally, he remains optimistic about carbon removal scaling: "I think we will be on the path to the gigatons by 2040 for sure." His vision emphasizes ecosystem thinking over vertical integration, aiming to drive down costs while creating network effects that could accelerate the entire field. As governments worldwide grapple with climate policy, the monitoring, reporting, and verification systems companies like Carbonfuture are developing now may well determine the success of our collective effort to reverse climate change. Jacob Bronsther & Yangyang Xu discuss their recent paper on the socioeconomic costs of Solar Radiation Modification. While SRM's direct technical costs appear modest (~$18B/°C cooling), the authors argue that its broader costs are far greater. They estimate that Stratospheric Aerosol Injection could generate between $0 and $809 billion annually in side-effect harms, with potentially higher figures for Marine Cloud Brightening. The conversation also explores SRM's reliance on unprecedented global cooperation, the political risks of weather accountability, and the dangers of termination, which could impose major financial costs. They contrast these challenges with large-scale Carbon Dioxide Removal, noting that although CDR entails immense technical expenses, it avoids some of SRM's political and termination risks. The discussion highlights the complexity of weighing the full spectrum of costs and benefits when evaluating climate-engineering strategies.Paper: Bronsther, J., & Xu, Y. (2025). Send me a messageIn this episode of Climate Confident, I spoke with Ori Shaashua, Co-founder and CCO of Gigablue, a marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) company taking a radically scalable approach to the carbon challenge.Gigablue's MCFS (Marine Carbon Fixation and Sequestration) method taps into the ocean's natural carbon cycle by cultivating phytoplankton in floating substrates and using gravity, not high-energy processes, to sink captured CO₂ to deep-sea sediment for thousands of years. It's a low-energy, high-durability method that's already secured the largest ocean carbon removal offtake to date.We unpack why mCDR matters, how it compares to nature-based and tech-heavy CDR approaches, and what makes ocean deserts, like those off the coast of New Zealand, ideal sites for safe and measurable sequestration. Ori also outlines their scale-up pathway: from kiloton removals today to multi-megaton capacity by 2029, and potentially gigaton-level by 2035.We dive into the mechanics of traceability, the real costs of permanence, and why MRV (Measurement, Reporting, and Verification) is the make-or-break for CDR credibility. Ori also pulls no punches on what's holding back progress: delayed regulation, weak compliance markets, and over-reliance on short-term carbon offsets. If your company is thinking seriously about durable net zero strategies, or wondering how ocean-based carbon removal fits into the climate tech landscape, this episode delivers real insight.

In this edition of Plan Sea, host Anna Madlener sits down with co-host (and one of this week's guests) Wil Burns, Dr. Terre Satterfield from the University of British Columbia, and Dr. Chris Pearce from the UK's National Oceanography Center. Burns, Satterfield, and Pearce are some of the lead authors on a new report launched at the 2025 UN Ocean Conference, “Principles for Responsible and Effective Marine CDR Development and Governance.”Commissioned by the High-Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy, the report outlines how to responsibly evaluate and potentially scale ocean-based carbon dioxide removal (oCDR) — also referred to as marine CDR — along three pillars: scientific and technological readiness, governance, and national implementation. The framework reflects months of collaborative research to help address how oCDR can begin to move from lab trials to real-world deployment — while maintaining high standards of scientific rigor, environmental protection, and public trust. Read the full report HERE.Dr. Terre Satterfield, Professor of Culture, Risk and the Environment at the University of British Columbia, joins Wil and Anna to discuss the report's recommendations for national strategies that can accelerate oCDR research and public engagement. She spoke about the importance of streamlining permitting processes for oCDR field trials, earmarking funding for lab networks for holistic oCDR evaluation, and investing in public engagement hubs to help co-design research efforts. Dr. Christopher Pearce, drawing from his research on oCDR science at the UK's National Oceanography Center, discusses how the report offers six categories to assess scientific and technological readiness for various oCDR approaches. This aims to help policymakers better understand when and why, for example, an approach may be quite well-understood by scientists in the lab, but the environmental impacts associated with larger projects are less understood and require field trials for further evaluation. He also explains how tools like pre-permitted testbed sites and national lab networks can promote data sharing and create the infrastructure needed for safe and scalable mCDR projects. Looking ahead, Wil, Terre, and Chris discuss how international frameworks like BBNJ (Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction) can ensure accountability for future mCDR governance, and reflect on the major challenges facing the field—from limited public awareness and funding to the need for strong public oversight as the technology scales. The report offers important recommendations, such as creating pre-permitted testbed sites and national lab networks that can promote research efficiency and strong standards as oCDR continues to be evaluated, regulated, and tested. "Customers don't want three different dashboards — they want one pane of glass." — Adam Derkey, Product Architect, Unimax At Cisco Live 2025 in San Diego, Technology Reseller News publisher Doug Green sat down with Adam Derkey of Unimax to explore Sentinel, the company's cloud-native, multi-vendor CDR (Call Detail Record) and analytics tool. Sentinel, now live for nearly a year, provides a single interface for monitoring call data across Cisco, Microsoft Teams, Avaya, and other platforms — eliminating the need for disparate reporting tools. Designed from the ground up as a cloud-first solution in Microsoft Azure, Sentinel simplifies the overwhelming volume of CDR data generated by modern UC systems, offering standardized dashboards, visualizations, and actionable insights. “You don't have to understand how a Teams call record works versus a Cisco record. We normalize all of it so you can focus on what matters,” said Derkey, who led the product's design. Unlike Unimax's flagship Second Nature, which streamlines MACD (Moves, Adds, Changes, and Deletes) management, Sentinel provides deep analytics on system performance and usage. Together, the two solutions create a powerful lifecycle platform: one for UC system control, the other for operational intelligence. Key Features of Sentinel: Multi-vendor CDR normalization (Cisco, Avaya, Teams, etc.) Unified dashboards and visual analytics Rapid cloud deployment (in as little as a week) Open availability to both existing and new Unimax customers Unimax is already seeing strong demand — from both long-time customers and net-new prospects — especially among enterprises seeking simplified UC reporting and resellers who want to offer bundled visibility solutions. Sentinel is also helping channel partners open new conversations with Cisco users and decision-makers. “It's a door-opener,” said Derkey, “especially for those who want to consolidate UC analytics without adding another vendor.” To learn more, visit unimax.com.

"It was so difficult to become someone." The house hero talks about Chicago's competitive scene, developing a sound and letting go of his ego. Theo Parrish is one of dance music's most influential DJs and producers. Raised in Chicago, he's become synonymous with slow-burning, immersive grooves and sets that mix classics with obscurities. He began DJing in 1986 aged 13, eventually earning a degree in sculpture and moving to Detroit, where he hit his stride as an artist and became a member of the collective Three Chairs alongside Moodymann, Rick Wilhite and Marcellus Pittman. He also started the label Sound Signature, which uses the language of soul, jazz, disco, Chicago house and Detroit techno. A few months ago, Resident Advisor teamed up with London institution fabric to host Parrish for an eight-hour set—his first time playing the club. While he was in town, he also spoke with CDR's Tony Nwachukwu. In the Exchange, Parrish talks about the intensely competitive scene he grew up in. He DJ'd for 13 years before he was ever paid or had his name billed on a lineup. It took years of passion and hard work to break out of his local scene and build the career he's become known for. "At five years, you're dealing with the technical part [of DJing], at ten it's finding your sound and at 15 it's dealing with the ego of it all," he says. "It's not until much later that you actually start to play for and with people." Parrish also reflects on the ongoing dearth of diversity in the dance music industry and posits whether some of the most popular music in the US—such as trap—reinforces counterproductive racial stereotypes. He asks: did house music ultimately survive because it left where it originally came from? Listen to the episode in full. -Chloe Lula
