On In The Market with Janet Parshall this week we visited with a highly respected expert on mental health matters who shared snapshots from her personal journey as the background for wide-ranging conversation on anxiety. She explained what anxiety is and is not, what causes anxiety and how to deal with it when it rears its ugly head. Our favorite Scottish apologist joined us for a very personal conversation about taking the trip from Australia back to Scotland to bid a final farewell to his mother. He shared with us the important lesson he took away from that experience. Then shifting gears, he addressed the accusation from a Canadian leader that the bible is full of “hate speech” and how a once trusted news service has fallen into deceptive practices and passing on misinformation as truth. A former gay man who had his life transformed has become a dedicated advocate for a return to God’s standard for sexuality. He has created a powerful media presentation that is opening eyes and transforming lives. He joined us to share a wide-range view of this very important tool. We helped you stretch your prayer list by sharing more stories of God at work in the entertainment industry. Then a bestselling author joined us to talk about the true meaning of Christmas and the transformative power of the Christmas story and how the story of Jesus entering into our world is the most important story ever told in human history. The news never stops and neither does our need to look at it with a critical, biblically sound eye. Join us for another exploration of some of the most important headlines of the week through the lens of scripture. Evacuations are underway in the Palisades, and power outages are popping up across multiple neighborhoods as the storm system rolls in. Health officials are also raising concerns about a potentially rough flu season. KOST has officially flipped to Christmas music, marking the unofficial start of the holiday season. A power pole was struck and brought down in Malibu, adding to storm-related hazards. Meanwhile, YouTube TV and Disney reached an agreement to restore access on the platform. More on the KOST flip: Crozier, who’s been with iHeart/Clear Channel for 38 years, once helped launch the famous KOST Christmas Wishes tradition. L.A. is rolling out what looks like a new coordinated, city-wide storm response, focusing on communication, coordinated departments, and pre-deployed teams. And Dallas Raines warns the worst part of the storm arrives in heavy bands through Sunday morning. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree has brought joy and sparkle to Midtown Manhattan since the early 1930s. The annual festivities may seem steady and timeless but this holiday icon actually has a surprisingly dramatic history.Millions tune in each year to watch the tree lighting in a music-filled ceremony on NBC, and tens of thousands more will crowd around the tree's massive branches during the holiday season, adjusting their phones for that perfect holiday selfie. But the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is more than just decor. The tree has reflected the mood of the United States itself — through good times and bad.The first tree at this site in 1931 became a symbol of hope during the Great Depression. With the dedication of the first official Christmas tree two years later, the lighting ceremony was considered a stroke of marketing genius for the grand new “city within a city” funded by JD Rockefeller Jr.The tree has also been an enduring television star — from the early years in the 1950s with Howdy Doody to its upgrade to prime time in the 1990s.Join Greg for this festive holiday history featuring kaleidoscopic lighting displays, painted branches, whirling snowflakes, reindeer and a very tiny owl. Please enjoy this newly edited and remastered version of our 2021 show on New York City's most famous Christmas tree and the surprisingly fascinating story of how its annual lighting became a national event. Hey Regular Guys & Gals, we fooled them again, and made it to another Lonely Guy Friday edition with Kev! Kev dives into how the current of your life isn't punishing you, it's redirecting you toward what your higher self's been begging for. After decades of swimming upstream, he reflects on how all that effort built strength but also drained spirit, health, and time, and how letting go of anger and outcome can suddenly open every door that once felt closed. He unpacks why late-life transformation isn't failure, it's proof that presence and surrender always beat force and fury. Why ghosting, lost jobs, and closed doors are protection, not punishment, and how “Let Them” might be the mantra for your next chapter. How you don't fight the tide, you fight for the shore. How to know when to fight: if it expands you, it's yours; if it shrinks you, walk away. How your nervous system knows the truth long before your brain does. How to save your strength for the battles that build you, not bleed you. LGF BONUS: The plight of a late Thanksgiving, an outdoor Christmas tree hack yard. Donate (no account necessary) | Subscribe (account required) Join Bryan Dean Wright, former CIA Operations Officer, as he dives into today's top stories shaping America and the world. In this Friday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, Bryan explains the sharp drop in U.S. markets, the internal divide inside the Federal Reserve, Trump's push to revive the housing market, and new White House actions on immigration, energy, and manufacturing. He also brings global updates from Iran, Syria, Germany, and Ukraine. Markets Slide After Record High: The Dow fell sharply after reaching a new peak earlier in the week. Bryan notes that overvalued stocks, high levels of margin debt, and concerns about an AI bubble are creating real fear on Wall Street. He warns that the pullback signals deeper economic stress that has been building for months. Federal Reserve Split on Rate Cuts: Fed leaders cannot agree on whether to lower interest rates again. Some point to weakening jobs data, falling retail spending, and rising household debt. Others claim the economy is stable. Bryan counters that missed car payments, climbing credit card balances, and new foreclosures show that ordinary Americans are under serious strain. White House Floats Portable Mortgages: The administration is considering a plan that would let homeowners transfer their low mortgage rates to a new house. Bryan explains that the idea could unlock the frozen housing market. He also highlights JD Vance's argument that deportation of millions of illegal immigrants could free up homes, which mirrors Canada's recent experience. Immigration Crackdown Widens: Trump revived the public charge rule and added new medical screenings to keep out foreigners who are likely to require long-term care. The State Department says the change protects taxpayers and ensures economically stable immigration. Democrats call the policy discriminatory. Trump says it is simply common sense. Energy and Manufacturing Developments: New York approved a natural gas pipeline from Pennsylvania after pressure from Washington. Supporters say it will lower electricity costs. Environmental activists are furious. Meanwhile, Toyota announced a fourteen billion dollar hybrid battery plant in North Carolina. Bryan calls it proof that the administration's trade strategy is reshaping global manufacturing. Iran's Water Crisis: Iran's leaders warned the capital city of Tehran could run out of water within weeks. Officials asked citizens to ration water and pray. Bryan argues the crisis reflects decades of corruption and mismanagement inside the regime. Trump Meets Syria's New President: Syria's leader asked the United States for help rebuilding his military. The meeting became awkward when Trump jokingly sprayed him with Trump for Men cologne. Video of JD Vance trying not to laugh has already gone viral. Europe Confronts Migration Fallout: Germany confirmed a polio case traced to an Afghan migrant. The city of Magdeburg canceled its Christmas market because of terror concerns. Bryan says Europe's leaders are refusing to face reality about the risks created by uncontrolled migration. Ukraine Corruption Scandal: Ukrainian officials close to President Zelensky were arrested for stealing one hundred million dollars from the defense ministry. Bryan warns that American and European patience with Kyiv is rapidly fading. Good News for the Weekend: A British study found that walking only fifteen minutes a day can reduce the risk of early death by more than eighty percent. Bryan encourages listeners to get outside, breathe deeply, and enjoy the gift of movement. "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32 Keywords: Dow market drop, Federal Reserve rate debate, portable mortgages housing policy, Trump immigration public charge, New York natural gas pipeline, Toyota hybrid battery plant, Iran water shortage Tehran, Trump Syria meeting cologne, Germany polio migrant case, Ukraine corruption arrests, fifteen minute walking study

We're playing off that Jimmy Stewart movie today because you can actually create a wonderful life. And right now—when everyone else is busy looking that way—you can go the other way and make it happen. I'm sharing three stupidly simple ways of thinking that should empower you to make any change you want. No more drifting in the winds of life. It's time to start driving through it instead. Fair warning: it's so simple that the complicated nuance gets in the way. But that's what makes us human. Featured Story I have a friend who writes a book every single year. Done just before Christmas. He keeps telling me, "Scott, you should try it." He's right. I should. I'm on my seventh book and haven't finished any of them. Trust me, I get it. But people actually do this. Friends have written entire books over Thanksgiving weekend. Four days. Book done on Monday. Boom. You know why this works? Because right now through mid-January, everyone's busy. Your boss is busy. Your friends are busy. They're all looking that way while you can go the other way. You can write your book. Start a new business. Clean out your garage if you want to keep it that simple. This is the perfect time to do anything you want when nobody's paying attention to you. Important Points • Everything begins when you become aware of what you want and accept that it's up to you to go get it—in my coaching program, I make people answer nine questions daily for 21 days, and they fight me on it until they see how awareness creates change. • If you believe your dream can be real, all you have to do is start living it right now—want to be a writer, sit down and write, you are one just like that, want to be in shape, go to the gym and be in shape, the click is a millisecond in time. • You are the boss of you, which means you can decide to go on a diet on Monday and not do it because the boss said you didn't have to—nobody else has to give you permission to start or stop anything. Memorable Quotes "Most people are drifting in the winds of life. True happiness arrives when you start driving through life instead of drifting in those winds." "If you believe your dream can be real, as soon as you start living it, it will be. The trick is the click. The click is a millisecond in time and you get it and you make things happen." "You're the boss of you. You can decide to go on a diet on Monday and you don't have to do it. You know why? Because the boss said you didn't have to." Scott's Three-Step Approach • Become aware of what you want and accept personal responsibility to go get it—answer the same questions about your life daily until you become so aware that changes naturally start happening and you can't help but take action. • Believe your dream can be real and start living it immediately without talking about it on ChatGPT or anywhere else—if you want to be a runner, go out the door and run, you are one just like that, could it be that easy, yeah it could. • Recognize you're the boss of you and stop planning, start doing—forget wishing and hoping and dreaming, just start with little bits of happiness and work toward your dream every single day because you decided to. Chapter Notes 0:15 - Why this is the perfect season to create change 5:26 - The awareness that changes everything explained 6:08 - When believing your dream makes it instantly real 8:10 - The ChatGPT trap and why talking kills dreams 9:15 - You're the boss of you: permission not required 10:15 - Drifting versus driving through life Connect With Me Search for the Daily Boost on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify Email: support@motivationtomove.com Main Website: motivationtomove.com YouTube: youtube.com/dailyboostpodcast Instagram: @heyscottsmith Facebook Page: facebook.com/motivationtomove Facebook Group: Join the Daily Boost Community Learn more about your ad choices. Nov. 7- 13: The highest rated E.R. ever, George Costanza loves bosco, Freddie Mercury's finale, 50 Cent tries movies, South Park sparks a hate crime against red heads, the Chilean miners get a film, Bryan Cranston is blacklisted, Diane Keaton just wants a perfect Christmas, and Bob and David are back…briefly. We're diving headfirst into another round of our Main Street Magic Mailbag: Listener Q&A — one of our favorite series because we truly never know what questions are coming. They're funny, thoughtful, surprising, and sometimes just delightfully odd… which makes them perfect. We kick things off with a question about the biggest Disney purchase we regret. We break down the decisions we would absolutely not make again. Next up, we get hit with a brutal “Would you rather?” dilemma: Would you rather never try new Disney foods and drinks again, or never try new attractions? It's the kind of question that makes you choose between your taste buds and your thrill-seeking heart. We also chat about how we'd redesign an attraction queue to make it more interactive, and we come up with a few ideas that would turn waiting in line into part of the fun. From there, the holiday spirit sneaks in with a whimsical question about which job we'd choose if we worked in Santa's workshop. Would we be toymakers, bakers, reindeer wranglers, or something even more chaotic? We break down the roles that fit us and the roles that would absolutely backfire. We also explore what it would be like to spend Christmas in a Disney movie universe. With so many magical worlds to choose from — animated, live-action, wintery, colorful — we debate where we'd want to celebrate the season. Then, a big one: What must-do experiences should first-time visitors, especially kids around 8 and 11, absolutely not miss? We cover attractions, shows, character moments, and little magical touches that make a first visit unforgettable. We also squeeze in a mini conversation about iconic Disney shirts and how quickly they become conversation starters.Next, we look at the top items still lingering on our Disney bucket list — the experiences we haven't crossed off yet but can't wait to someday. Finally, we wrap things up with a delicious question: What type of new food booth would we add to EPCOT's Food & Wine Festival? We dream up flavors, themes, and creative menu ideas we'd love to see join the festival lineup. It's a fun, lively, listener-fueled episode filled with Disney talk, holiday vibes, park tips, food dreams, and plenty of laughs. Grab your headphones and enjoy another round of Main Street Magic Mailbag!

A neglected Georgian house, shutters still, poplars trees surround it, whispering. Downstairs is a row of servant bells to call servants. One has a mysterious name and is reputed to ring when no one is there. Rumour speaks of a hooded figure and an owl; the corridors mutter with sounds of pipes, disconnected wires, and something harder to dismiss. By night, faces seem to change in the mirror; but by day, the rooms are ordinary. Servants won't stay there and then the owner organises an investigation, a ghost hunt, if you like. A society of guest who are to keep their counsel until Twelfth Night, listening for what remains and for the presence that speaks when the house is empty. First published as the Christmas number of All the Year Round (December 1859), a collaborative sequence framed and partly written by Charles Dickens. This reading includes Dickens's chapters: “The Mortals in the House” and “The Ghost in Master B.'s Room.” Charles Dickens (1812–1870) was a British novelist and social critic, author of Oliver Twist, Bleak House, and Great Expectations. He edited Household Words and All the Year Round, helping to make the Victorian Christmas ghost story a tradition. St. Jude’s Hospital in Fullerton had to partially evacuate after a bomb threat, and guests were left stranded when the hotel chain Sonder abruptly shut down one of its properties. Target is rolling out its “10-4” holiday strategy, and Conway floated the idea that he might—might—become an Anaheim Ducks fan. Dean Sharp, The House Whisperer, joined us to talk about the incoming rain and what homeowners can actually do during a storm—mainly buckets, tarps, and sandbags—and what the right steps are after the weather clears to fix roof leaks, drainage issues, and water intrusion the proper way. The Conway Show “flipped” as Aldik Home set up their annual Christmas tree spectacular, and Dean & Conway chatted with Brian Gold and Rosie about holiday décor, lighting, and the art of making your home feel warm for the season. A major storm is expected to hit on Friday and Saturday, bringing heavy rain and potential flooding concerns across SoCal.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Another rough passage of scripture that describes God's wrath as he judges His people for their actions. Chad digs into this and the similarities to the language from Exodus. Chad encourages to meditate on verse 2: "in wrath, remember mercy". And God has remembered, sending His beloved Son to earth to live and die in our place, rise again and break the cold chains of bondage that bind us all. Rebekah Caggegi sings "Maranatha!" and we look forward to the great day of the Lord when He, the great Judge makes everything forever right. CC446: Kail and Lindsie have some beef with holiday consumerism, where Christmas decorations appear before Thanksgiving, and the struggle of saying no to their children's wants versus needs. Kail has some thoughts on the outrage surrounding Kendall Jenner's comments about Caitlyn Jenner, dissecting why people care so deeply about issues that don't affect their day-to-day lives. Now that the government has reopened, there are a couple of different debates that will immediately get underway. 42 million people receive SNAP benefits for basic needs. How much fraud? Turns out a lot of it and the Secretary of Agriculture is prepared to lower the boom on it in a new report next week. Stigall has some preliminary numbers. One of the greatest Christmas traditions for the Stigall family is going to see Trans Siberian Orchestra at Christmas. They're launching their tour this week and their lead guitarist and musical director Al Pitrelli stops by to talk about a huge milestone they reached this year. Secretary of State Marco Rubio makes no bones about sending naval vessels to the Caribbean to flex at Venezuela. And Congressman Scott Perry explains why now is the perfect time to have a new debate about Obamacare. -For more info visit the official website: https://chrisstigall.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/chrisstigallshow/Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChrisStigallFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/chris.stigall/Listen on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/StigallPodListen on Apple Podcasts: https://bit.ly/StigallShowSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

He leaves, hurt — but not before Emily says she really wishes they could've just taken that walk in the snow.Eleven months later, Emily is out for a jog. She's thought about leaving and starting over in another small town…but she just couldn't. She loves it in Fletcher's Grove.Cut to the diner: two teens are hanging out in a booth. One is Violet — Sam's daughter, who Emily no longer employs at The Mistletoe because of how things ended with Sam. The other is Kyle, and they are very clearly into each other. We also meet Tim Hinley, the chess coach. His team just lost, and he is a full-on grumpy elf.Later, Emily bumps into Sam. Awkward small talk. They go their separate ways. Then we see the football coach arrive home to find a note on his door. He reads it, looks panicked, grabs what appears to be a go-bag, jumps into his car, and speeds away.Speaking of go-bags — Emily has been much more cautious this year, constantly monitoring anything related to Chimera ever since they almost caught her last Christmas. She's never letting her guard down again.Violet asks Emily to teach her chess. Emily suggests she ask Coach Hinley. That's when Violet reveals: he's missing. After that day at the diner, he resigned and vanished. This sets off alarm bells. Emily goes to his house — something's off — so she takes the case to Sam. He says he'll look into it. After she leaves, we see he's still investigating who Emily really is.Emily goes to the school to drop off decorations for Violet and stumbles into the chess team competing. She meets Vice Principal Richard Leeland, who is now acting chess coach. Emily accidentally reveals she knows a lot about chess. Since he only stepped in to help his son on the team, he asks if she'll take over coaching. She says no.Emily continues to dig and hears rumors that Coach Hinley was romantically involved with a rival coach. Suspicious. She brings this to Sam, and it leads to a big argument.Emily finds the rival coach and asks about it. The coach denies everything — very aggressively — insisting she would never damage her reputation.Emily then stumbles upon Kyle fighting with the VP's son over chess drama — Janitor Ben Ayres steps in to break it up.Sam arrives and is like, Why are you everywhere?? He takes a call — Emily overhears — they found Tim's car at the airport… but his suitcase is still in the trunk. The next day, Emily returns to question the VP. On her way out, she chats with Janitor Ben — when a dog wanders in. It's Tim's dog.Who abandons their dog? They follow the dog into the basement, where it stops on a patch of new concrete.Emily calls Sam. Ground radar is brought in.There's a body.Sam later comes to Emily's house to update her, and sparks fly again — but he spots a piece of paper under her couch and quietly takes a picture of it.Meanwhile, Sam reviews security footage and sees Tim arguing with Kyle before Kyle punches the wall. That same day, Kyle asks Violet to the winter dance. She says yes… just as Sam walks in and arrests Kyle.Emily confronts Sam. He shows her a threatening note found on Tim's door. In order to help the investigation, Emily agrees to coach the chess team.Kyle returns after being released and insists he's innocent. Emily overhears the VP chewing out his son. She ends the day playing chess with Janitor Ben.It turns out the VP's son was selling stolen test papers, and Coach Hinley found out. Then the rival coach shows up to accept the full-time position — but Emily already took it. Emily sees Tim's lucky tie in her back seat, and Sam brings her in for questioning. Another big blow-up — but later they calm down and almost kiss. Again. Sam retreats… again. It's Winter Dance time!Violet grabs something from her locker and finds a note:“Stay away from Kyle. This is your only warning.”Emily, also at the dance, takes this chance to snoop in VP Leeland's office and finds practice sheets of Tim's signature.Meanwhile, Violet shows the note to the VP. He tells her to come with him.Emily is searching for Violet when she runs into Janitor Ben — who is distraught. He admits he wrote the warning note because he didn't want Kyle distracted from chess. Why does he care so much?Because — Kyle is his son.Kyle overhears and runs off in shock.Emily hears Violet scream and rushes to the VP's office. The VP's son just confessed everything — not realizing Violet was there. We learn the truth:Tim confronted the VP because he thought the VP killed his dog.The VP's son showed up, panicked, and shoved Tim.Tim fell — his head hit a coat hook, killing him instantly. The VP covered it up to protect his son.Sam arrives, hears the confession, and arrests him.Violet finds Kyle. They slow dance outside in the snow.Emily and Sam watch from a distance.Throughout the episode, we've seen flashbacks of Emily's past — how she joined a computer team and pitched a new game: Chimera. The final shot: Sam reviewing his notes, circling the word Chimera. Some hauntings chase you through the dark. Others crawl right into your room. First, we head to Edison, New Jersey — home to one of the state's most infamous legends: Jake's Branch Road, an abandoned Nike missile base turned ghost town. When a group of friends decided to explore its decaying homes and eerie playground, they found far more than graffiti and cold air. And when the doors began slamming shut—trapping five grown men inside—they realized something was alive in that place… something that didn't want them to leave. Another listener recounts a horrifying episode of sleep paralysis—one that took on a terrifyingly personal form. As she lay frozen in bed, the figure of someone she knew began crawling toward her, fingernails clicking, hair hiding her face. Unable to move or scream, she could only watch as the air thickened with dread and darkness. From the haunted backroads of New Jersey to the quiet horror of a bedroom at Christmas, this episode proves one truth: when the paranormal comes calling, it doesn't always knock—it sometimes crawls. #trueghoststory #realghoststoriesonline #hauntedhouse #paranormalactivity #ghostencounters #realhaunting #sleepparalysis #newjerseyhaunting #supernatural #satanicritual #hauntedroad Love real ghost stories? It's one of our favorite episodes of the year—sharing new Christian books worth reading and giving. In this 2025 edition, Dr. John Snyder highlights an updated commentary, a missionary biography, a devotional from Jeremy Walker, and more. Perfect for Christmas gifts or planning your 2026 reading list. Find links to every book below! Every year around this time, we take a look at recent Christian book releases and share our top recommendations for reading or giving. Whether you're building your 2026 reading plan or searching for thoughtful Christmas gifts, this list is a great place to start. You might even send this episode to someone who's shopping for you! But this conversation goes beyond book suggestions. John reminds us that our reading life, like our eating life, needs balance. We can read lazily or we can read wisely—stewarding our time and shaping our minds. Read widely, but let Scripture remain central. Read books that stretch both your heart and your understanding—balancing the objective truths of God's Word with the personal experiences of His people.
