Lesley appeared on Debate Night last week. We look back at this, the issues that were raised by the audience, and the replies of the panel. Here's the link to Lesley's justified rant over the energy rip off.https://www.facebook.com/reel/984639903833195Kneecap have clarified their position and apologised to the families of David Amess and Jo Cox after the accusations made over statements made during gigs. John Swinney has called for the group to be removed from the TRNSMT line-up, echoing those made by Kemi Badenoch and others over Glastonbury. Is this furore simply, as Kneecap have claimed, a distraction from the real issue of Israel's actions in Gaza?Meanwhile Louis Theroux has made a follow up documentary on the Israeli " settler" movement. We look at Daniella Weiss, the so called "Godmother" of the movement her actions ,the Zionist nationalist tradition she comes from, and the influence she has on the Israeli government. We turn our attentions to three sets of elections. The result of the Canadian General Election,  the English local elections, and the Runcorn and Helsby by election. There has been a landmark decision at appeal giving Poet's Neuk, a local community group, the right to buy privately owned land under a compulsory purchase order. It's taken nine years  after the passing of the 2016 Land Reform Act for this to happen for the first time. Will this set a precedent? All of this plus gig reviews and TV recommendations. ★ Support this podcast ★

In this explosive video, we dive deep into the shocking question: Why can't we secure the UK from terror attacks? With recent tragedies, including the terrorist murder of MP David Amess, we ask why the government has failed to take adequate action. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has refused to order a public inquiry into the attack—why the silence? What is being hidden? Is there a cover-up surrounding the failures of the anti-terror organization Prevent? We also address the chilling case of Southport mass killer Axel Rudakubana, who was flagged by Prevent but still managed to commit a horrific act of violence. How many more innocent lives must be lost before the government takes real action to protect the public? Are Prevent and the Home Secretary truly fit for purpose when it comes to combating terrorism? With the UK being an island nation, securing our borders should be a top priority. But the question remains: How much more terror do we have to endure? Join the debate on the failures of UK counter-terrorism strategies, border security, and government accountability. Let's discuss if the UK can ever truly be safe from terror, and whether our politicians are doing enough to protect us. Subscribefor more political analysis, breaking news, and free speech debates. Man found guilty of murdering MP David Amess in terrorist attack

Nostalgia Interviews with Chris Deacy

My guest this week is Iain Dale, radio presenter, commentator, blogger, publisher, author and former Parliamentary candidate. Iain talks about why he turns down many TV invitations these days, why he hates the ‘gotcha' style of interviewing and why the long form interview is back in vogue. He also reveals how he has gotten people to open up to him in a way that they haven't to other interviewers. Iain reflects on how it used to be a challenge for him to interview people he knew well, e.g. David Davis, but that that isn't the case now. He says he can get more out of someone through the soft form, non-confrontational interview, and he likens David Frost's interview style to that of Lt. Columbo. Iain reflects on his recent LBC interview with former House of Commons Speaker John Bercow and the interview he conducted with David Amess, six months before he was murdered. We talk about the difference between a radio and a podcast interview and find out which former Prime Minister Iain is waiting to interview and why he wishes he had had the chance to interview Douglas Hurd. At University, Iain studied German, Linguistics and Teaching English as a Foreign Language, and Iain discusses how he got into the media, and how he has a lot of freedom in the type of radio he does. On LBC he gets to give his opinions, but Iain explains why he isn't a ‘shock jock'. Iain discloses why he doesn't like wishy washy centrist elections, why the Falklands War was the big ‘sliding doors' moment of his life and how setting up a Conservative Association at UEA was a defining moment for him. Iain talks about ‘shy Tory syndrome' at British universities, why Labour has lost the last four elections and why he has been called ‘the thinking man's Brexiteer'. Iain also reveals how his time at LBC has knocked off the harder edges of his views on social issues, and Iain reflects on what would have happened if he had been elected as an MP. We find out how he came to do a podcast with Jacqui Smith who he thought was shabbily treated in her time as Home Secretary, and why on Twitter people still see Iain as a die hard Tory. Iain has, though, voted for other parties, and has recently called for the nationalization of P&O. At the end of the interview Iain discusses Brexit derangement syndrome (on both sides), and we learn that Iain is a naturally nostalgic person. He also explains what the test is of a good friendship.

Another day another Flat Earther dies, publicly, presumably of toxic misinformation. I predicted this one a couple weeks ago. I'm not psychic; the psychological operations are just that obvious. The alleged passing of actor and lockdown protestor known as Flat Earth Fokker is coincidentally timed perfectly with the public outrage over the NFL's Aaron Rodgers and podcaster Tim Poole both taking medical advice from Dr. Joe Rogan. This pattern of anti vaxxers dying of misinformation goes back months but now it's getting to the most public deniers in a very public way. Interestingly, Mak was taking Ivermectin and also feeding it to his dog before he died, again making a connection to Joe Rogan's podcast. I note the timing because Rob Skiba allegedly passed of Covid at the exact same time Kyrie Irving was being harangued and taken off the NBA court for refusing to get vaccinated. Irving has previously retracted anti-mask tweets. I suspect the overarching agenda is to shut down podcasters, social media influencers, and popular celebrities who go against the mainstream media narratives. It's worth pointing out that now both Skiba and Fokker are featured on SorryAntiVaxxer.com, proving again that the cult of Scientism worships Covid and celebrates the smiting of his enemies. The MSM hasn't enjoyed a pile of bodies this much since Nick Cruz shot up a high school. With each new anti vaxxer infidel's death, I can hear the reporters in their newsrooms shouting, “Covid Akbar!” I have some follow-up on Russianvids' metastasizing ego: He recently warned his listeners to stay away from Infinite Plane Radio (btw, all live links and latest archives can be found on InfinitePlane.Media.) Nick and Joe return (Roxy is off today) to discuss PA's most recent embarrassment, this time, and again, it's caused by their leader Mark Collett- the number one hiking enthusiast on the far right.Collett put his hiking boots away for a short moment to broadcast an especially putrid little stream where he blamed the recently murdered David Amess for his own death at the hands of a killer. The disgusting comments seem to be motivated by an attempt to retain the members of PA who are understandably frustrated that Collett is moving the languishing far-right organization into a sports club, rather then an electoral force or something more edgy.Despite the discontent of the PA rank-and-file, antifascists everywhere are extremely grateful for Collett's outdoorsy streak- which is allowing us to focus on other things, while the erstwhile ubermensch clock up some seriously underwhelming stats on Strava.Elsewhere GB news has platformed some more hideous ideas, signalling a willingness to turn right, and very disturbing news has emerged that a "Proud Boys Britannia" member is guilty of multiple rapes.

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we've got a potpourri. "Potpourri" is the category on Jeopardy! where they've got a lot of great answers that don't fit into other categories, so this week's show is a potpourri as we discuss the Alberta municipal elections, and the murder of another British Member of Parliament. In the back half of the show, we're going to interview a Kitchener man who made history in last month's Federal election. This Thursday, October 28, at 5 pm, Scotty Hertz and Adam A. Donaldson will discuss: La Vie en Wildrose. History was made in Alberta this week with former Liberal cabinet minister Amarjeet Sohi being elected the mayor of Edmonton, and former Calgary city councillor Jyoti Gondek elected as her city's first female mayor. Alberta also had two province-wide referendums on equalization payments and daylight savings time, so there's a lot of political stuff to talk about. What do the results tells us? David Amess. Southend West MP Sir David Amess was stabbed to death at a constituency event last Friday, and a British citizen of Somali heritage was taken into custody for the crime. The incident brought comparison to the murder of MP Jo Cox just five years ago, and re-ignited a debate about whether U.K. politicians need more security. But where's the fine line between security and access? A Morrice Line. Kitchener Centre MP-designate Mike Morrice made history last month when he became the first Green Party candidate elected to the House of Commons from Ontario. Morrice will tackle another first this week, appearing on Open Sources Guelph, to talk about the secret to his success, what he's looking forward to doing in the House, and how he's now in prime position to help shape the future of Canada's Greens. Open Sources is live on CFRU 93.3 fm and cfru.ca at 5 pm on Thursday.

Since then, elections have been held, and a much-delayed election for a new President is due at the end of this year. But few have much faith in this process. Whole swathes of Libya are beyond the control of the national government in Tripoli. So it's perhaps not surprising in these circumstances that some Libyans are nostalgic for the days of Gaddafi's rule, despite the human rights abuses which took place. Among those who remain loyal is the man who was once Gaddafi's advisor, and sometime interpreter. Tim Whewell has been talking to him. Democracy in Libya may be very much a work in progress, but here in Europe, there are some who feel that long-standing democracies are also being threatened. The murder in Britain of the MP, David Amess was described by many as an attack on democracy itself. And that suggestion had echoes from a recent killing in the Peter De Vries was famous as an investigative reporter in the Netherlands. He ignored repeated threats to his life, while he bravely uncovered the power of international criminals. This week, two men went on trial in Amsterdam, accused of murdering him. It was an act the Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, said was “an attack on the free journalism so essential for our democracy". But then Mr Rutte has himself had to change his habit of cycling alone through Holland's streets, because he too has received death threats. Anna Holligan reports. During its twenty year presence in Afghanistan, American troops brought in billions of dollars' worth of gear, and quite a lot of it seems to have found its way into the hands of smugglers, who brought it across the border to neighbouring Pakistan. Some of it is still sold furtively in small towns, but one Lahore shopkeeper is making a good living by selling very openly this stolen US Army equipment. Ironically, he considers himself an implacable enemy of all things American, and a supporter of the Taleban. Ali Kazmi went to meet him. With just days to go until the COP26 summit on climate change, there's ever more pressure being applied to countries to explain how they propose to get to net zero or in other words, how to reach the point where they do not contribute any net carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. They're being encouraged both to set targets, and to outline what measures they will introduce to reach them. But there's an island in Denmark which has already gone one stage further and become “carbon positive.” Ritula Shah went to Samsoe to find out how they've done it. When you think of ancient mummies, you might think of Egypt, with its famously preserved pharoes and other leading lights of that ancient civilisation. In fact, the oldest mummies in the world were discovered in Chile. They were discovered in 1917 by a German archaeologist, but it took decades for the mummies to be correctly dated, and identified as part of the Chinchorro civilisation. And they're still not on the tourist map, the way that the pyramids and their long dead occupants are. Jane Chambers travelled into the heart of what was once Chinchorro country, to see the mummies for herself.

Roxana and Nick discuss the murder of David Amess, a killing that will be remembered as another example of violence being used to harm our democratic freedoms. The far right responded gleefully to the killing, instantly spotting an opportunity to weaponize it against minorities. In reality the far right only cares for nurturing their own hatred, as their responses in the wake of the murder of Jo Cox also demonstrated.Despite this solemn episode, Roxy and Nick also find time to confront the falling star of Stephen Yaxley Lennon, a man who it is difficult to imagine was once a rising talent. With his life in disarray, and now with an embarrassing stalking ban to his name, Stephen Lennon could be seen ranting his new line in conspiracy theories to a bemused crowd of xenophobes in Dresden.

GP league tables, net zero reports and somehow jokes about the last week even though it was a miserable one. Plus a chat with Dr Helen Salisbury (@HelenRSalisbury) at Independent Sage (@IndependentSage) about the current treatment of GPs and how Covid really hasn't gone away. Conservative MP Sir David Amess was murdered on October 15th. I tried to look at this case with the assistance of Shaun McDaid. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Criminology, Politics and Sociology at the University of Huddersfield. Dr. McDaid's research primarily relates to political violence and its prevention and post-conflict transitions. We talked more broadly about the threats and violence against politicians and also about the terrorisms and extremism in the postmodern world.
