See Kim K.'s CR Fashion Book spread “The Pioneer Woman,” Rudy Jude, Salter House, and making jam. Re: actual covered wagons, Conestoga does a luxe wagon and a bar wagon, both, and Pioneer Woman has a roundup of campgrounds with covered wagons.Rainesford Stauffer's “We Should Be Ambitious About Our Friendships” for Elle sparked our convo about friendship ambition—she's also the author of An Ordinary Age: Finding Your Way in a World That Expects Exceptional and the new All the Gold Stars: Reimagining Ambition and the Ways We Strive. We love this tweet about friendship discussion agendas. As for books, this topic calls to mind Courtney Martin's The New Better Off, Kayleen Schaefer's Text Me When You Get Home, Aminatou Sow and Ann Friedman's Big Friendship, and Hua Hsu's Stay True. On our TBR list: Sheila Liming's Hanging Out: The Radical Power of Killing Time. This week, fashion journalists Kate Finnigan (FT, British Vogue, The Gentlewoman) and Emily Cronin (Elle, Telegraph, Grazia) take a look at the fe/male gaze to ask how sexiness has changed and if underwear is ‘empowering' or something much more profound. Who are the next generation of underwear makers and wearers? And how does body positivity shake up the rule book? “We are essentially saying, screw the male gaze!” – Chelsea Mtada, founder of Nightstand Service  “It used to be that when it came to lingerie, there was only one question that mattered; what does he think?” – Kate Finnigan  “It's what we were born with, the best we can be is ourselves. Prince George's Shakespeare in the Parks

The Tragedy of Macbeth is presented as an hour-long audio drama set in the gangs of New York of the 1860's. This turbulent time finds us in the midst of the American Civil War and domestic unrest in the streets of New York City. The classic story stays the same: our tragic hero Macbeth stumbles upon the witches in the sewers, who fill his head with the prophecy of being the" king hereafter." Murder, mayhem, and a grab for power consume the Macbeths as they rise and fall during their short reign. This audio drama is produced by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation, Arts and Cultural Heritage Division, with support from the Maryland State Arts Council.CASTBen Fisher – Porter, Lennox, First MurdererBess Kaye – MacduffCarol Spring – Witch 3, Lady Macduff, Gentlewoman, MusicianChristopher Dwyer – RossJack Schmitt – Malcolm, Second MurdererJames Finley – MacbethJared Michael Swain – Duncan, DoctorMadeline Belknap – Witch 2, Son, MusicianRachel Manu – Fleance, Donalbain, EnsembleRyan Sellers – BanquoStephanie Wilson – Lady MacbethTori Boutin – First Witch, MusicianCREWAlan Ernstein – Montpelier Arts Center Technical Director and Booth MasterBriana Manente – Production Stage ManagerChristel Stevens – ProducerChristopher Dwyer – Artistic DirectorKirk Walterick – Recording EngineerMac Owens – Sound Designer and Audio EngineerTori Boutin – Composer and Music DirectorSPECIAL THANKSBeth Crisman – Managing Director: Montpelier Arts CenterBradley Foster SmithKristina ManenteMaryland National Capitol Parks and Planning Commission Arts and Cultural Heritage Division

Our latest Podcast, recorded at the magCulture Shop in London, is a bumper edition that hangs loosely around the theme of change. The episode opens with Jeremy and Liv flicking through recent new mags, starting with The Face, freshly relaunched after a 15 year hiatus. Can it possibly live up to expectations? The pair also look at this year's print edition of gal-dem and the exciting new Buffalo Zine, and are joined briefly by Erik from Lyrics As Poetry before heading off down a crazy magazine archeaology rabbit hole with guest Danny No. The ups and downs of the contemporary women's magazine are reflected in the next two guests: Marie O'Riordan, editor of Marie Claire from 2001-2008, reflects on the demise of the magazine's print edition. And Penny Martin, editor-in-chief of The Gentlewoman, discusses her magazine's tenth anniversary. Both highlight the need for character and USP in a magazine. There's just time for a Back Issue – the first ever edition of Berlin's 032c, a very different publication to today's glossy quarterly – before the episode signs off with news of changes of our own. If you enjoy the magCulture Podcast please give it some love on iTunes, Soundcloud or wherever you're listening. Renowned for its iconic covers that have featured a wide range of stars including Angela Lansbury, Beyoncé and Simone Biles, it rejects standard tools like cover lines and garish colours, instead using characterful portrait photography and subtle design touches to create an impact. In this conversation Penny speaks about the slow-burn process of choosing their cover stars, the trust they place in their collaborators, and the way she knows that they've got a cover right. Cassie Ann… A Gentlewoman, A Powerful Spirit! || My Throne || I was once afraid of people saying, “Who does she think she is?” Now it's my time to show them. While people will run their mouths… I'll be running an empire. I'm straightening my crown, ascending my throne. For I am a Gentlewoman and this is my story. It starts here and commences now. Life must first begin with a woman… A Gentlewoman. XOXO ~Cassie Ann I wanted to start this post out with this inspiring piece of writing from our recent guest Cassie Ann.  Eddie and I feel it represents a shift into power and leadership that she is destined to fulfill. We met Cassie Ann recently while attending Meltdown in the Desert.  She made the trip all the way from Iowa and faced down her own fears of self-worth, fear and doubt to attend.  She kept repeating a phrase, “I don't belong here.” But as you will hear on our show, through her inner work and vulnerability she was able to turn that question to “Why can't I belong here?” We go deep into her story of of growing up small town style and the challenges and benefits that come from it. (Eddie and I both definitely resonated with her on this point lol.)  To her years of being bullied for being “unique.” We also hear of her journey as a young mother struggling to show her son how to become a man who will respect and understand a true and complete woman. All the way to the end of the interview where you will hear Cassie Ann cement her vision for how she hopes to inspire generations of women to no longer just fulfill the standard, disempowering expectations of young women. You will hear her describe with intensity and passion, how she intends to combine her Gentlewoman perspective with the inner power of strength of self.
