This week, 3 Guys in a Flick are reporting for duty with Goldfinger, the 1964 Bond classic where Sean Connery fully locks into 007 mode and the franchise formula turns to solid gold. From Shirley Bassey's unforgettable theme song to the Aston Martin DB5, Oddjob's deadly hat, Goldfinger's over-the-top villainy, and the legendary Fort Knox finale, the guys break down why this film became the blueprint for generations of Bond movies. They discuss the film's massive blockbuster impact, Guy Hamilton's influence on the Bond/Q dynamic, standout performances from Connery, Gert Frobe, Honor Blackman, and Harold Sakata, and whether the movie still earns its golden reputation today. Expect spoilers, trivia, gadgets, gold paint, questionable villain decisions, pacing debates, and plenty of shaken-not-stirred banter as Don, John, and Ken take aim at one of the most iconic entries in the James Bond franchise.

Moon is finally back from Europe... barely. After rocking massive Goldfinger shows in England, Moon thought he was headed home with some great vacation stories. Instead, he found himself trapped in a German airport nightmare involving missed connections, endless lines, angry travelers, confused airline employees, and enough frustration to test the patience of a saint. If you've ever been stranded while traveling, you'll feel every second of this story.Of course, this being The Rizzuto Show, we can't simply discuss international travel like normal adults. Before Moon can even finish explaining how he got stuck in Frankfurt, the conversation somehow derails into an in-depth investigation of nose hair trimming technology. Which trimmer works best? Which one is lying to you? Can any of them actually reach the mysterious "front cave" region of your nostrils? Important questions are asked. Very few are answered.Moon also shares stories from London, Paris, the European heat wave, questionable airport experiences, and the realization that saving money on flights sometimes costs your sanity. Along the way, the gang debates the worst possible movies to watch while flying on a German airline, and somehow turns Saving Private Ryan into an accidental international incident.Meanwhile, back in St. Louis, the crew talks about the vandalism at Steve's Hot Dogs and why supporting local businesses matters when they're already battling construction, rising costs, and random acts of destruction. The conversation then drifts into National Hot Dog Day planning because apparently that's how professional broadcasters handle serious topics. And just when you think things couldn't get any weirder...A Maryland Heights Hooters becomes the setting for one of the most bizarre crime stories imaginable. Let's just say one customer took "dining in" a little too literally. The crew breaks down the unbelievable details and wonders how someone ends up making that series of life decisions. Also in this episode:Moon's European vacation recapThe great nose hair trimmer debateGerman airport survival tacticsTravel horror storiesSt. Louis hot dog newsGas price hunting strategiesForest Park getting national recognitionStrange airline movie choicesHooters headlines nobody asked forThe usual daily chaos from Rizz and the gangIf you enjoy sarcastic humor, ridiculous travel disasters, bizarre news stories, and a group of friends getting distracted every five seconds, this episode delivers exactly what you'd expect from your favorite daily comedy show. Thanks for making The Rizzuto Show part of your day. That's right. After years of dreaming about flying with the legendary flight team, filling out paperwork, getting medical forms completed, and generally doing everything he was supposed to do (allegedly), the Navy said, "Nah." The crew spends way too much time trying to figure out who got the spot instead, throwing out names ranging from Cardinals legends to local celebrities and basically anybody who isn't Moon. Then things somehow get even weirder. The gang debates one of the most ridiculous music questions ever created: if you could only listen to one genre for an entire year, would you choose mumble rap, post-9/11 patriotic country, Christian death metal, or AI-generated EDM? The answers reveal way more about everyone's personalities than anyone intended, and somehow Christian death metal becomes the surprise hero of the conversation. In Crap On Celebrities, the celebrity chaos is firing on all cylinders. Diddy drama takes another bizarre turn, Sabrina Carpenter gets a restraining order against an alleged stalker who apparently thought hiding in a Prius was a good plan, Taylor Swift fans once again convince themselves they're decoding secret messages from the universe, and The Black Crowes find themselves at the center of a USA chant controversy. The crew also dives into the latest music news, including Mick Jagger somehow still having more energy than people half his age, a Gene Wilder biopic that already has everyone fan-casting, and the ongoing debate about whether Val Kilmer was a misunderstood genius or simply impossible to work with. Then comes the emotional destruction.A list of the most heartbreaking animal moments in movie history sends everyone spiraling. From Artax sinking into the Swamp of Sadness in The NeverEnding Story, to Mufasa's death in The Lion King, to Homeward Bound, Fox and the Hound, I Am Legend, and more childhood trauma than any morning radio show should legally be allowed to revisit before noon. If you've ever cried because of a fictional animal, prepare to relive every painful second. It's another completely normal day with The Rizzuto Show, which means absolutely nothing is normal. The gang welcomes Ashley Vogt and NHL veteran Jamie Rivers into the studio to celebrate two massive life events: a surprise Nashville engagement and the launch of Synergy Integrated Healthcare. But before anyone can get sentimental, the show immediately derails into a debate about throwing apple cores out of moving vehicles and whether that technically makes you a criminal. Spoiler alert: Missouri law apparently has thoughts.Meanwhile, Moon relives the heartbreak of being passed over for a coveted Blue Angels flight after thinking he was officially cleared for takeoff. The crew spends an alarming amount of time trying to figure out who could possibly be worthy of stealing his seat. Steve Ewing? John Goodman? Wayne Gretzky? Andy Cohen? The investigation continues. As if that wasn't enough, the crew checks in on the internet-famous guy attempting to live in a room for an entire year while livestreaming the experience. He's lost weight, picked up hobbies, and somehow still has fewer viewers than some houseplants on social media. The discussion quickly turns into a philosophical debate about personal sacrifice, family life, and whether staying locked in a room sounds like punishment or a vacation. Then comes Alpha-Gal Syndrome, the tick-borne condition that could potentially rob meat lovers of everything they hold dear. Lern takes a suspicious amount of joy in imagining a future where Riz can't eat meatballs in Europe, while the rest of the room tries desperately not to anger the tick gods.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShowHear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.Serial exposer charged for indecent act at Maryland Heights HootersForest Park Named Best City Park in the USA…Again!Outdoor balloon releases illegal in Louisiana starting in AugustSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Nineteen Sixty-Four was a huge year for cinema, especially for movie musicals. Mary Poppins and My Fair Lady went one and two at the annual box office, with the French film The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and The Beatles' first film, A Hard Day's Night, becoming breakout hits. But for his birth year pick, Rum Daddy didn't play along with the band. He went with Bond. James Bond. Yes, the third outing for the British superspy landed in third place at the '64 box office, cementing the budding franchise's blockbuster status. Starring Sean Connery as Ian Fleming's secret agent once again, the film established many of the series' standards, including the pre-title action sequence and the "now pay attention, 007," briefing by Desmond Llewelyn's Q, followed by the introduction of many gadgets and the iconic Aston Martin DB-5. And then there's the titular villain, played by Gert Fröbe, who can't quite help explaining his entire evil plan to the hero and his silent-but-imposing henchman, Oddjob, who has invented weaponized headwear. And, of course, we must have a Bond girl, or four, toplined by Honor Blackman as the improbably named Pussy Galore. But does Rum Daddy have the Midas Touch? Is this not only the best film from the year he was born, but could it also be the best Bond movie ever? Join us as we paint the town gold with 1964's Goldfinger! One of the key features of craft beer today, that doesn't get enough press, is just how much information brewers have at their fingertips. While companies that serve the industry test and provide information about the performance of their products to brewer customers, it's the two-way flow of information back from brewers to those companies that supercharges the learning cycle and helps everyone make better beer. In this episode, produced in partnership with Omega Yeast, guests Matt Gallagher of Half Acre and Suncatcher, Tom Beckmann of Goldfinger, and Laura Burns and Jonathan Moxey of Omega Yeast, explore this topic and more, looking at interesting ways brewers can add character but also hone and shape their beers, beyond the eight main strains that see so much use in the brewing world. In this episode, the brewers discuss: building house character across different style beers harnessing the knowledge base of brewers around the country variations in common strains from different sources and in different formats intentionally selecting more expressive but flexible house yeast unusual applications of yeast that have produced fascinating beers thiol expression in lager beer “Fartbomb”-style lager underrated lager strains for West Coast IPA krausening hoppy lager And more.

In this episode, Charles interviews filmmaker and vinyl enthusiast Steve Herold, best known for the award-winning short film Death of an Umbrella Salesman. Steve takes us back to the summer of 1984 and his first concert — the Thompson Twins on their Into the Gap tour at the Garden State Arts Center in New Jersey. He shares how the show almost didn't happen, thanks to a failed attempt to see Van Halen at Madison Square Garden, and how that near-miss planted the seed for a lifetime of concert-going. The real coming-of-age concert moment, Steve admits, came two years later when he finally saw David Lee Roth on his debut solo tour — a far wilder introduction to arena rock than the Thompson Twins had provided. Steve opens up about his most memorable concert experiences, including his best-ever shows: the New Jersey alternative band Dramarama at the legendary Fast Lane in Asbury Park in the early '90s. Those packed, sweat-soaked club nights — where getting to the bathroom was nearly impossible and crowd surfing was mandatory — turned Steve into a devoted fan and shaped his love of small-venue rock. He also recounts the 1996 Sex Pistols reunion at New York's Roseland Ballroom, an evening of full-on debauchery that ended with him and a friend finding a $50 bill on the floor — money that had fallen from the pockets of crowd surfers — and heading out to continue the night on someone else's dime. The image of punk-show attendees pouring out of Roseland and colliding with Broadway theatergoers on the sidewalk is one of the episode's most vivid moments. Beyond concerts, the conversation dives into Steve's YouTube channel, where he has spent years showcasing his vinyl and CD collection and visiting independent record stores during his travels for TV production work. He reflects on how the channel introduced him to a whole new community of fellow collectors — friendships that have taken him to record stores in Reno, Southern California, Long Island, and Charleston, South Carolina. Steve also discusses his filmmaking work, including the upcoming documentary about a former Hot Tuna drummer who is also a visual artist, and two music videos he directed for his friend's garage rock band Manflesh, one of which is set to screen at the Coney Island Film Festival. The episode wraps with a shared appreciation for the Wet Leg concert both Charles and Steve attended in 2025, and a laugh-out-loud detour into the chaotic legacy of G.G. Allin. BANDS: Agent Orange, David Lee Roth, Dramarama, Eagles, G.G. Allin & the Murder Junkies, Goldfinger, Hot Tuna, Jeff the Brotherhood, L7, Lady Gaga, Manflesh, Ram Jam, Sex Pistols, The Strokes, Thompson Twins, Van Halen, Wet Leg, Yeah Yeah Yeahs. This week I'm flying solo on the pod with show announcements and a round of your voicemails. Free Subscriber Sticker Link: https://forms.gle/kwYDM93UvCGgCdhp9 (While Supplies Last) Tour news includes a solo acoustic set at the World Cup fan zone in downtown Bremerton on Friday, June 12 (free as far as I know), all the MxPx Warped Tour dates, and a show coming up at Punkadeka Festival in Milan on September 5. I also talk about the Goldfinger drum heads in Seattle that everyone signed except me and why I had to clear that up. Your voicemails cover a few things: new songs on Warped Tour, waiting on a signature bass, why we still do free post-show meet and greets, and why so many stand-up comedians are MxPx fans. I shout out a few comedians I'm into, including Lee Hardin, Ian Fidance, Anthony Jeselnik, Adam Ray, and Scott Losse, and we close on the question that gives the episode its title: how do you think funny? Listen to today's podcast... It debuted at the World Fair on April 17, 1964. It was featured on the covers of Newsweek and Time magazines and appeared on the silver screen in the James Bond movie “Goldfinger” that same year. Here's another hint: It was built for the working man and it sold almost 400,000 in the first year. What am I referring to: The Ford Mustang and today is the day that all Mustang owners and enthusiasts celebrate. Take One Action Today To Build Your #Resiliency! Here are today's Tips For Building Resiliency and Celebrating Ford Mustang Day: My husband and I own a 1965 Mustang. Sally is numbers matching, which means that she is in her original condition. She is part of our resiliency tool belt, as during the summer months, we take Sally out for drives in the country. Mostly to find a good ice cream cone or to enter her in a car show. Driving around is about savouring the summer. Whether you're into gardening, fixing up vintage cars, or even soduko puzzles, research has found that hobbies are just as important to good health as exercise is, thanks to their ability to relieve stress. This study found that people who engaged in leisure activities were 34% less stressed, reported feeling happier, and their heart rate was lower. It didn't seem to matter what the participants did just so long as it was something they deeply enjoyed. So on this day of celebrating the iconic Mustang, find something that you enjoy and be immersed in it. Your health will thank you for it. Goldfinger's Biggest Mistake: Why He Didn't Kill James Bond Why didn't Goldfinger kill James Bond when he clearly had the chance? In this video from Cracking the Code of Spy Movies, we break down the decision that defines Goldfinger. The iconic laser scene reveals more than tension. It exposes the villain's ego, Cold War logic, and cinematic psychology. Goldfinger believed his plan was unstoppable. And, he wanted Bond to watch it succeed. That confidence became his undoing. We explore how this moment shaped future Bond villains. It became a formula repeated across spy cinema. Arrogance replaced efficiency. If you love James Bond, spy films, or smart movie analysis, this episode is for you.
Solo episode. One very critical voicemail, one very fun one, and one about books. Plus: East Coast tour is done, Denver is next, and new MxPx album is getting close. This week: The Find a Way Home Tour with The Ataris wraps up after DC, Norfolk, Charlotte, and Charleston. Mike recaps all four shows and explains why Charlotte might have been the best of the run. Then Michael from the Charlotte meet and greet calls in with a detailed, point-by-point critique of Mike's personality and the podcast, and Mike responds at full length. Jay Gwak (AI Mike) from New York checks in about the DC show, the GSF pin and certificate, pitches a Chick Magnet merch idea, and gets Mike talking about his new baby chicks (Mac and Cheese). Derek from Kentucky calls in a two-parter: first asking about an MxPx book, then asking what Mike is reading. Answer: Blake Crouch and a book called Enshittification. Also: Bob got sick and missed Charlotte, the stickers didn't make it, and Mike is not done processing Michael's voicemail. Jean Windridge lived near Birmingham and was always immaculate in her appearance, with a real fondness for flashy costume jewellery which led to her gaining the nicknames among friends of ‘Diamond Lil' and ‘Goldfinger'. She didn't wear expensive pieces, but loved the jewellery that she wore. At 78, Jean had a busy social life and lots of friends, being known locally for her kindness and sense of community. So when she was found murdered in her own home after an afternoon party at the local church, nobody could understand why anyone would want to hurt Jean. In this episode of the UK True Crime Podcast I look at the circumstances surrounding the murder of Jean Windridge.I release episodes of the UK True Crime Podcast every Tuesday and Friday, so please do join me for the next episode on Tuesday.Buy My New True Crime Content Creators Online Coursehttps://adam-s-site-be58.thinkific.com/products/courses/true-crime-content-creation-courseWriting Credit: Chris WoodYou can buy Chris's second book, 'Death in the Theatre' here: https://www.amazon.com/Death-Theatre-Chris-Wood/dp/1399009117Watch my YouTube channelhttps://www.youtube.com/@Adam-uktruecrime/videosListen/Watch the True Crime Catch Uphttps://audioalways.lnk.to/TrueCrimeCatchUpFind Our More About Mehttps://uktruecrime.comJoin UK True Crime Facebook Grouphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/UKTrueCrime Hosted on Acast. The 20 James Bond quotes in this episode reveal far more than clever dialogue. They uncover the psychology behind cinema's most famous spy. In this special episode of Cracking the Code of Spy Movies, we break down 20 James Bond quotes and explain what they really mean for the character and the franchise. For more than sixty years, James Bond has delivered unforgettable lines. Some are witty one-liners. Others are chilling threats. A few reveal surprising emotional depth. But behind many of these famous quotes lies something deeper. In this episode, we analyze the hidden meaning behind the most memorable dialogue in the Bond films. From cool moments of psychological dominance to tragic lines about love and loss, Bond's words often define the scene. We start where it all began. Bond's confrontation with Professor Dent in Dr. No reveals his calm authority. That single line shows how Bond wins mentally before he wins physically. We also explore subtle espionage clues. The famous "red wine with fish" remark in From Russia With Love highlights how tiny cultural mistakes can expose a spy. Of course, no Bond quote list would be complete without villains. Goldfinger's chilling laser scene reminds us that arrogance is often a villain's greatest weakness. Some quotes define Bond's personality. "Shaken, not stirred" shows ritual and control. "I never joke about my work" reveals Q's seriousness about saving agents' lives. Other lines reveal Bond's emotional side. "We have all the time in the world" may be the most tragic line in the entire series. And then there is the line that built the legend: "Bond. James Bond." In this episode, we break down how each line reflects Bond's psychology, his methods, and the evolving tone of the franchise. You'll hear the stories behind these iconic moments. You'll also discover why Bond's dialogue still resonates decades later. In this episode, you'll discover: · The hidden psychological meaning behind Bond's most famous one-liners · How villains' quotes reveal their fatal flaws · Why humor helps Bond distance himself from violence · The deeper tragedy behind Bond's most emotional lines · How a single introduction built one of cinema's greatest characters Whether you are a lifelong fan or a new viewer, this episode offers a fresh perspective on the dialogue that defined the world's most famous spy. Tell us what you think about our look at the meaning behind these 20 James Bond quotes There are many quotes we could have used. Which ones would you have replaced? And what would you have taken out to fit what you added? Let us know your thoughts, ideas for future episodes, and what you think of this episode. Just drop us a note at info@spymovienavigator.com. Bond returns with Goldfinger. Is this peak Bond?
Alex and James cast their eyes outwards from the established Bond casts and try to imagine other actors, actresses, directors and composers in a Bond role. Not just potential other 007s, but Ms, Qs, Moneypennys, villains, and more. For this exercise, we each chose two films and tried to imagine who would be involved with them if they were made in a different time. What would a 1980s Goldfinger look like? A Guy Ritchie-directed Live & Let Die? And, inevitably, a Christopher Nolan Bond film? Listen to our choices, and then have a go yourself: email your reskinned Bond film choices to bondandbeyondpod@gmail.com or comment under this episode's post on our Bond & Beyond Facebook page.

Just as James Bond was promised to return at the close of each of his installments, I am back with a sequel to part 1 of my extended interview with Neil S. Bulk, soundtrack album producer and editor. In Part 1, I caught up with Neil specifically about his work on the expanded and remastered soundtracks from these select James Bond movies - GOLDFINGER, THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN, MOONRAKER and LICENCE TO KILL. Here in part 2 we turn our attention to two album releases from earlier in 2025 - THUNDERBALL (1965) and ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE (1969). My thanks to Neil for talking with me for an extended time and thanks to all of you for listening and the continued interest in and support of the podcast! Frankenstein Created Woman (1967) | Hammer Horror & Peter Cushing Deep DiveWelcome to another atmospheric installment of the General Witchfinders podcast. In this episode, we are throwing chronology to the wind and jumping straight into the heart of the Hammer Films oeuvre. Having previously explored the Baron's first experiment in The Curse of Frankenstein and his final bow in Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell, we now settle into the middle of the franchise with the 1967 cult classic: Frankenstein Created Woman.Directed by the undisputed master of gothic cinema, Terence Fisher, and featuring a career-defining performance by Peter Cushing, this film stands as one of the most intellectually provocative entries in the Hammer Horror canon. Interestingly, this is famously cited as one of Martin Scorsese's favorite films, proving that the brilliance of the Baron transcends the "B-movie" label. The Soul of Science: Baron Victor FrankensteinIn Frankenstein Created Woman, Peter Cushing returns as Baron Victor Frankenstein. Unlike earlier iterations where the focus was on the stitching of limbs and the reanimation of dead tissue, the screenplay by Anthony Hinds (writing as John Elder) takes a metaphysical turn. Here, the Baron is obsessed with the soul. The plot follows the wrongful execution of Hans Werner (Robert Morris), the lover of the physically scarred Christina Kleve (Susan Denberg). After Christina takes her own life in grief, the Baron captures Hans's soul and traps it within Christina's surgically repaired body. This results in a "soul-swapping" revenge thriller that remains unique within the Frankenstein series. Cushing's performance is refined, showing a Baron who is less of a graverobber and more of a cold, calculated philosopher of the macabre. The Legend of Susan Denberg and Nikki van der ZylThe casting of Susan Denberg is central to the film's legacy. A German-Austrian model and 1966 Playboy Miss August Playmate, Denberg was already known to sci-fi fans for her appearance in the Star Trek episode "Mudd's Women." While her visual presence is striking, the production decided her Austrian accent was too strong for the character.Enter the legendary Nikki van der Zyl. If you have watched a James Bond film, you have likely heard her voice. She famously dubbed Honey Ryder in Dr. No and provided dialogue for countless Bond girls and even Gert Fröbe in Goldfinger. Her work on Frankenstein Created Woman adds a layer of polished professional mystery to Christina's character, bridging the gap between Hammer Horror and the 1960s spy-fi aesthetic. The Hammer Character Actor NexusAs we always do at General Witchfinders, we track the "mother nexus" of British character actors who populated the halls of Bray Studios. This film is a treasure trove for genre enthusiasts:Thorley Walters (Dr. Hertz): A close personal friend of director Terence Fisher, Walters brings a much-needed warmth to the role of the Baron's assistant. Fans will recognize him as a recurring Doctor Watson in various Sherlock Holmes adaptations, including Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace.Duncan Lamont (Werner): A veteran of the Hammer stable, Lamont appeared in the original Quatermass Experiment and returned for the 1967 film version of Quatermass and the Pit. He is also a favorite of ours from The Creeping Flesh.Robert Morris (Hans Werner): Another Quatermass alum who brings a tragic weight to the first half of the film.Derek Fowlds (Johann): Long before he was a household name in Yes Minister and Heartbeat, Fowlds was a RADA scholar cutting his teeth in the world of horror.Production History: From Bray Studios to the ScreenThe road to Frankenstein Created Woman was long. It was originally mooted as a follow-up to The Revenge of Frankenstein in 1958, capitalizing on the popularity of Roger Vadim's And God Created Woman. By the time it went into production at Bray Studios in July 1966, it was one of the penultimate productions at that iconic location.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/general-witchfinders. Matt and Eric paint themselves head to toe in 1964's GOLDFINGER, the Bond many (most?) consider to be the best Bond of all time. Gadget cars, laser beams, razor hats GALORE!
In this episode, we ask: Has James Bond Lost His Identity? For over 60 years, James Bond defined cinematic cool. He was fantasy. He was spectacle. He was escapism. But today, Bond bleeds. He Bond grieves. He changes. So what happened? In this episode of Cracking the Code of Spy Movies, we decode Bond's identity crisis. We compare classic 007 with the modern era, examining tone, realism, and serialized storytelling. We ask whether evolution became erosion. From the gadget-loaded spectacle of Goldfinger to the raw reinvention of Casino Royale, Bond has transformed. The Daniel Craig era reshaped the franchise. Emotional arcs replaced standalone missions. Continuity replaced formula. And vulnerability replaced invincibility. Was this necessary growth or a loss of identity? We explore: Has realism made James Bond less fun? Is modern Bond still truly 007? Should Bond return to standalone missions? Did serialized storytelling weaken replay value? What must Amazon get right next? With Amazon MGM Studios steering the future, the stakes are enormous. Bond stands at a crossroads between fantasy and grit. Between myth and modernity. And between timeless and timely. As promised in NO TIME TO DIE, James Bond will return. But which version will we meet? What will his identity be? This episode dives deep into the debate dividing generations of fans. Is Bond aspirational fantasy or grounded realism? The martini is still shaken. The question is whether the identity still is. Join the conversation. The future of 007 depends on it. Tell us what you think: Has James Bond lost his identity? What identity would you like the new James Bond to have? Do you think he's lost his identity? Let us know your thoughts, ideas for future episodes, and what you think of this episode. Just drop us a note at info@spymovienavigator.com. The more we hear from you, the better the show will surely be! We'll give you a shout-out in a future episode! In this episode of Gangland Wire, host Gary Jenkins, retired Kansas City Police Intelligence Unit detective, steps outside traditional Mafia territory and into a shadowy world just as dangerous—and just as fascinating: the international theft of ultra-rare automobiles. Gary is joined by author Stayton Bonner, former senior editor at Rolling Stone, and legendary car-recovery specialist Joe Ford, the real-life figure behind Bonner's book The Million Dollar Car Detective. At the center of the story is a breathtaking pre-World War II automobile—the Talbot-Lago Teardrop Coupé—once described as the most beautiful car in the world. Stolen from a Milwaukee industrialist's garage in 2001, the car vanished into the international underground of elite collectors, forged paperwork, and high-stakes deception. Joe Ford explains how he became the go-to investigator when rare cars worth millions disappear—and why stolen vehicles are far harder to recover than stolen art. What follows is a years-long global hunt involving disgruntled mechanics, fabricated titles, shell corporations, Swiss intermediaries, and a billionaire buyer now locked in civil litigation. Bonner adds rich historical context, tracing the car's glamorous past—from European aristocracy to Hollywood royalty—and exposing how loneliness, obsession, and greed often surround these legendary machines. The conversation expands into other notorious cases, including the disappearance of the original James Bond Aston Martin from Goldfinger, and how wealthy collectors sometimes knowingly harbor stolen artifacts. This episode is a true-crime story without guns or gangs—but filled with deception, betrayal, and the relentless pursuit of justice across borders. If you love investigative work, high-end crime, and stories that feel like James Bond meets Gone in 60 Seconds, this one's for you.

Mike Herrera brings his signature style to the classic StingRay with passive electronics, simplified controls, a color-matched headstock, and a custom Pokinatcha pickguard. Available now! Switching from playing with my fingers to a flat pick revealed! MxPx shows coming up MXPX vs. Tumbledown Album Prep. - A Comparison. Did we make it? Was there a time where we knew I wouldn't have to work at day job? Never crossed my mind. I knew I would never have a day job as soon as I started touring. And it had nothing to do with money. I never thought about the future other than making and performing music. Is that naïve? Yes. But I think that's what it takes sometimes to just keep going no matter what.
