In this lively and insightful episode of The Make Room Show, Jennifer Ford Berry is joined by fashion expert Shari Braendel, author of "Help Me Jesus, I Have Nothing to Wear" and founder of the "27 Hanger Closet" system. Together, they share expert tips on simplifying your wardrobe, finding clothes that make you feel confident, and why it's essential to let go of clothing items that no longer serve you. Shari's unique approach of limiting your wardrobe to 27 pieces offers a fresh take on capsule wardrobes, making room for the items you truly love while decluttering the rest. They also dive into color analysis, how to pick the best handbag, and Shari's "game-changing" tip for jeans shopping.Key Learning Points:• 27 Hanger Closet: Simplify your wardrobe by curating 27 key pieces—6 bottoms, 12 tops, 4 layering pieces, and 3 special items—allowing easier outfit planning and less clutter.• Color Analysis: Wearing the right colors makes a significant impact on how you look and feel. Avoid black as it can make you look tired and older. Instead, pick 1-2 neutrals and a pop color that suits you.• Handbag Hack: Match your handbag color to your hair color for a versatile, go-to bag that coordinates with everything.• Seasonal Closet Swaps: Even in warmer climates like Florida, it's beneficial to rotate your wardrobe seasonally to refresh your look and keep things current.• Cost Per Wear: Invest in high-quality pieces you'll wear frequently rather than splurging on items for special occasions.• Jeans Shopping Hack: Measure the rise of your favorite jeans to find the perfect fit every time you shop.• Letting Go of Guilt: Release clothing that doesn't fit, feel good, or serve your current style, even if it cost you a lot. Donate to shelters where your items can benefit others.• Trend Awareness: Staying in style doesn't mean constantly buying new clothes; it's about curating what works best for your body and lifestyle.• Seasonal Planning: Be strategic about shopping; know what you need and build your wardrobe intentionally.• The Emotional Closet: Clothes hold memories, but learning to detach and move on can bring freedom and space for new possibilities.--Free Denim Guide!: https://www.stylebycolor.com/denimShari Braendel, founder of Style by Color, inspires women to new levels of confidence through her digital products, style programs, and YouTube channel. As the author of *Help Me, Jesus, I Have Nothing to Wear*, and creator of the Color Code System and Closet Outfit Planner, Shari has been featured on ABC News, Focus on the Family, and More To Life Christian TV Network. She's spoken at over 500 churches and women's conferences worldwide, drawing from her many years in the color analysis industry to challenge women's beliefs about themselves.Since 2010, Shari has certified over 400 women through the Style by Color Academy, providing comprehensive training for future Color Analysis specialists and Christian Image Consultants. She also founded the Women's Matter Initiative, offering Color Confidence Workshops to nonprofits serving women coming out of distress and abuse. In this conversation, Sarah Boston and Janet McMordie discuss the challenges of balancing a whimsical career path with a day job. They explore the pressure to excel in one thing and the fear of losing edge in a profession. They also touch on the desire to be good at everything and the struggle of being mediocre at two things. The conversation highlights the importance of artists supporting other artists and the value of being a supportive audience. Sarah shares her excitement about her upcoming performance at the Guelph Fringe and discusses her podcast, Co-Medicine, which focuses on healthcare professionals who are involved in comedy.TakeawaysBalancing a whimsical career path with a day job can be challenging, but it's important to find a balance that allows for pursuing creative passions while also meeting practical needs. The pressure to excel in one thing and the fear of losing edge in a profession can create internal conflicts, but it's important to remember that it's possible to be good at multiple things.Being a supportive audience member and supporting other artists is crucial in the creative community. It's important to let go of jokes or ideas that don't work and to embrace failure as an opportunity for growth and learning.Dr. Boston's podcast: https://www.drsarahboston.com/comedicine-podcastWHAT ANOTHER FUN PODCAST? Episode Notes Part 1 of my conversation with choreographer, director, and producer Sandra Bezic! With her brother Val, Sandra was a four-time Canadian pairs champion and competed in the 1972 Olympics. She is most well known, however, as a choreographer and the creative force behind many skating shows and TV programs. She has choreographed for champions like Brian Boitano, Kurt Browning, Katarina Witt, Lu Chen, and Tara Lipinksi. Most recently, she made Lindsay Thorngren's short program for the 23/24 season. She was the director of Stars on Ice for many years and collaborated with David Wilson on Yuna Kim's All That Skate and Javier Fernandez's Revolution on Ice. Sandra also produced the Canadian TV program Battle of the Blades and in 2023 made the series “I Have Nothing” alongside comedian Carolyn Taylor. Sandra has a unique understanding of how to make skating appeal to general audiences, and we had a great conversation about choreography, entertainment, and the changes she'd like to see in the sport. Transcript of our conversation at: https://docs.google.com/document/d/16tp4AuF159XJuNPMNxgpq82pGFxA9GOUTNMFLfJESvE/edit#heading=h.tje8hivsf0d I've made a playlist of a few of Sandra's choreographies that is accessible on our YouTube page. The Jeremy White Show welcomes David MIller from IL DIVO! Multi-platinum group IL DIVO, who just released their new “XX: 20TH ANNIVERSARY ALBUM,” which just hit the Billboard charts at #1 in Classical Crossover Albums, #1 in Classical Albums and Top 40 of Current Album Sales. The album is also available as the first-ever vinyl edition of their career, with commemorative and collectable packages of “XX: 20TH ANNIVERSARY ALBUM,” available at www.ildivo.com. The iconic quartet—Urs Bühler (tenor) of Switzerland, Sébastien Izambard (tenor) of France, David Miller (tenor) of America, and new member Steven LaBrie (baritone) of America—uphold the spirit of their signature sound while expanding its scope on their 10th full-length and very first independent album on Il Divo Music/Thirty Tigers. Produced by Grammy® and Latin Grammy® Award-winning artist Carlos Fernando Lopez (Ricky Martin, Laura Pausini, Marc Anthony), “XX: 20TH ANNIVERSARY ALBUM,” includes songs sung by IL DIVO in English, Spanish and Italian; and an original composition written by the group, “Despertar Sin Ti.” In addition to the IL DIVO spin on Gnarls Barkley's “Crazy,” the album will also include Whitney Houston's “I Have Nothing,” with a Spanish version, “No Tengo Nada,”; Miguel Gallardo's “Hoy Tengo Ganas De Ti,”; Brenda Lee and Elvis Presley's “Always On My Mind,” sung in English and Italian; Ed Sheeran's smash hit “Perfect”; “Despacito,” the mega-smash by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, and Justin Bieber, and more. Since 2004, the Multi-Platinum classical crossover progenitors have emerged as a phenomenon buoyed by displays of vocal prowess, gigs around the world, and an indefinable magic between them. They have sold 30 million-plus units worldwide, scored 50 #1 hits, and earned 160 Gold and Platinum records across 35 countries. Between selling out tours on multiple continents, they've performed everywhere from the Summer Olympics and FIFA World Cup to Diamond Jubilee at Windsor and the Commander-in-Chief's Ball. Life changed when the guys weathered the tragic passing of original co-founder Carlos Marín due to COVID-19. The remaining bandmates paid homage to their fallen brother with the Greatest Hits Tour in 2022. Steven LaBrie stepped in as a guest baritone on the road only for Urs, Sébastien, and David to welcome him as a full member a year later. Around the same time, they entered a studio in Coconut Grove, FL with producer Carlos Fernando Lopez. This new season represents a series of firsts: their first album with Steven, and also the first for their own label Il Divo Music with the members serving as Executive Producers and Sébastien as Co-Arranger. KEY TAKEAWAYS: [22:40] AI can be useful by using it to curate all the information that is at our fingertips that we waste so much time trying to sift through. If you can ask AI the right question, it can curate the information that you want to find online. [28:32] Social media has benefits for a musician, one being that you can get your music out there affordably and it can be heard all around the world. [37:25] For Britta, there is a big difference between singing in the studio and singing live for an audience. There is a feeling of being terrified, excited, vulnerable and exposed which gives her a big thrill. Dean Wareham was the singer-songwriter-guitarist behind the Boston band Galaxie 500, who released three albums between 1987 and 1991. After this Dean went on to found NYC guitar band Luna, which released seven studio albums between 1992 and 2005. Luna disbanded in 2005 but reunited in 2015 and continue to perform live. She was formerly a member of the U.K. shoegaze band Belltower. She was also the singing voice of cartoon rocker Jem in the 1980s, and starred with Julia Roberts in Satisfaction, a film about an all-girl rock band. Britta released a solo album, Luck or Magic, in 2016. Ryder the Eagle BIO My name is Ryder The Eagle. I was born under the sign of Cancer in the south of France and like the planets predicted, I dedicated the beginning of my life to finding true love. Two EPs, a marriage and a divorce later, I embarked on a "Follymoon", an incandescent kind of a honeymoon where loneliness meets the folly of freedom. I traveled across the USA on the Greyhound bus, lugging my microphone along sidewalks and crossings, diners, and traffic lights. I spent two years in London crafting my break-up songs and sang them all over the globe supporting Adam Green, Jonathan Bree, and a few others. I ended up in Mexico City, where I’m currently living. I’m driving an old Chevy Caprice which I don’t have insurance for. My trunk is full of memories from a past that I can’t let go. One day I went to this Scottish town called Plean, unloaded everything, and wrote nine songs about it. So if you ever need a ride, I’ve got room in the car now - and we can play my first album on the stereo. Can’t wait to meet you.

It's real! After a year of trying we finally got Carolyn Taylor to come on the podcast. She was one of the Baronesses on the comedy series Baroness Von Sketch, very funny: perfect! But her excuse for delaying us seemed like a joke. She said she was gonna be busy doing a TV series about choreographing an Olympic level pairs skating routine to Whitney Houston's hit “I Have Nothing”. Ya, sure. Carolyn's a comedian, who didn't know how to skate, let alone how to choreograph a skating routine. Only now, she's done it. And "I Have Nothing" is so good, Mo cried. And then laughed. We talk about the crazy pitch process, personal obsessions, and how we all now love the Olympic medalist David Pelletier. The series is funny and real. Mostly, we talked about the importance of trying even if it means humiliation and exhaustion. The series runs now on Crave. Carolyn Taylor is a Canadian actor, comedian, writer and director. She's not, however, a choreographer or figure skater. But that didn't stop her on her quest to choreograph a full-length pairs figure skating routine to “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston. In Carolyn's new series of the same name, she sets out to make her dream come true with the help of some of Canada's most celebrated Olympic figure skaters. Carolyn talks to Tom about the moment she came up with the idea, pursuing your dreams (regardless of the pushback), and facing fear head-on.
With her reality comedy I Have Nothing now streaming on Crave, Baroness Von Sketch Show's Carolyn Taylor is here to tackle Colin Higgins' 9 to 5, the 1980 workplace comedy smash that pitted office workers Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton against Dabney Coleman's swaggering jerk of a boss. Your genial host Norm Wilner really wanted to sing the song.
Today on The Social, comedian Chris Redd weighs in on Travis Kelce's latest comments about Taylor Swift. And, the Golden Globes announce two new categories. Then, reaction to a new ad in Vancouver describing a “whites-only” social group. Plus, Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet hold fingers. And, one woman wrote a brutally honest obituary about her Dad's flaws. Then, should you get a new mattress when you start a new romantic relationship? Plus, the new docu-comedy, “I Have Nothing”!
In this 1332nd episode of Toronto Mike'd, Mike chats with Carolyn Taylor about growing up in Montreal, her dad, her rise to power with the Baroness Von Sketch Show and her new series I Have Nothing. Toronto Mike'd is proudly brought to you by Great Lakes Brewery, Palma Pasta, Pumpkins After Dark, Ridley Funeral Home and Electronic Products Recycling Association.
Obsessions that spark childhood creativity and end up being key points in your life....can get a little scary once you grow up.On this episode we dive into the practicalities of making a childhood dream come to life It's time for 'I Have Nothing'.This series follows Carolyn on a comical quest to choreograph the perfect, full-length pairs figure skating routine to Whitney Houston's 1992 iconic hit song, “I Have Nothing.” Motivated by a teenaged obsession for the 1988 Calgary Olympics that also sparked Carolyn's queer awakening, I HAVE NOTHING begins as a lighthearted nostalgic comedy and quickly morphs into a high-stakes, real-life mission for Carolyn, with a few wild detours along the way. At first you think it's just a bit, and then we you realize that it isn't "just" a bit and she's trying to do this for real it becomes all the more intense and hilarious. With a myriad of figure skating luminaries joining Carolyn on this quest, I Have Nothing is hilarity that is just hard to look away from.We had the unique pleasure of sitting down with Carolyn in advance of the show releasing on Crave to talk about the origins of the story, sharing this very earnest obsession with the world and so very much more....

Internationally renowned voice teacher John Henny returns to chat with host Alexa Terry on this episode of Singing Teachers Talk. John has taught thousands of vocalists, including Grammy winners and top background and session singers. He has also trained hundreds of voice teachers, including many industry leaders. We've got a belting episode for you this week, quite literally, as Alexa and John will be discussing how to belt. KEY TAKEAWAYS Belting is an intense style of singing, characterised by a longer closed phase in the vocal folds creating a more intense soundwave. If you're singing in a light voice, harmonics roll off quickly but with a belt they don't roll off as fast so you're getting more upper harmonic content. With the more intense soundwave you're tuning the vocal tract to boost those high frequencies so you're not left with any of the mellow jazzy sounds. You can make your belt more intense and forward by pushing the first resonance in the vocal tract really high into the shout configuration. When we do this our brain thinks we are shouting and overpresses the vocal cords. Good singers can override this switch in their heads (a prime example is the late Whitney Houston, who was a master at this.) Unless there is a physical or neurological issue, then anyone can belt. It can be of varying strength and quality, but it's a skill anyone can learn. BEST MOMENTS ‘Belting, I know it when I hear it' ‘Most contemporary music can use belt, it's only really female classical singers who won't' ‘You've got to break that connection to work up to the belt' EPISODE RESOURCES Guest Website: www.basttraining.com Social Media: Facebook: @John Henny Vocals Instagram: @johnhennyvocals Twitter: @johnhennyvocals Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/jhenny62 Relevant Links & Mentions: Belt Example @ 3:18 to end - Gimme Gimme from Thoroughly Modern Millie (Sutton Foster): YouTube.com/watch?v=OxYoHdAwFZc Belt Example @ 1:23 - I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston: YouTube.com/watch?v=FxYw0XPEoKE Kerrie Obert: https://obertvoicestudios.com/ Singing Teachers Talk Podcast - Ep. 59 Top Tongue Tips for Boosting High Frequency Energy with Kerrie Obert: https://linktr.ee/basttraining?utm_source Jeremy Ryan Mossman: https://www.singingwithjmoss.com/ Vocology in Practice: https://www.vocologyinpractice.org/ Ken Bozeman: http://www.kenbozeman.com/ Practical Vocal Acoustics by Kenneth W. Canadian pop singer-songwriter Martina Stokes grew up constantly surrounded by music. Born into a family of musicians, Martina started training as a classical pianist at age four. Despite this influence, she felt a strong pull toward soul music and the Divas of music. She could often be found at a piano performing an Aretha Franklin song or singing karaoke to a powerhouse classic such as “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston. Martina has been writing songs longer than she can remember and started recording herself on loops with her keyboard at age six. Whenever she was asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would tell people “I AM a pop star!” From childhood to adulthood, she took every opportunity possible to sing for people at any function and for any audience. She began secretly making music in her tiny Vancouver apartment at age 17 while attending college. In late 2020, Martina was discovered singing a Whitney Houston song while working at a small supplement store, thinking no customers were present. Musician and actor Duane Angelvette told her she was simply too talented to continue hiding her gift and sponsored her financially to begin a recording career. Making a bold and brave choice, Martina began her public recording career in early 2021 and fell in love with the process. Despite resistance from family, she was too passionate about the art of song to ever give up pursing music as a career. She believes in reigniting the world of pop in which vocal ability and skill bring out the best in a piece of art and wow the listener. The inspiration for her goals with her music career come from artists such as Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera and Ariana Grande. When asked about her vocal abilities, Martina says her coaches were Whitney and her Mariah, raising her love for skill in the beauty of being a vocalist.
In the first half of the show, Mickey talks with attorney and author Heidi Boghosian and Project Censored associate director Andy Lee Roth about the confluence of surveillance and censorship, and how that impacts journalism. Many people believe they have nothing to hide online, but that myth is dispelled by today's guests as they address everyday precautions citizens can take to defend their privacy online. Later, Clayton Weimers of Reporters Without Boarders joins the discussion with Mickey and Andy to address the rising incidences of violence (or threats of violence) against journalists, how they should be confronted, and the impacts they have on a free press and society at large. Notes: Heidi Boghosian is executive director of the AJ Muste Institute, and former executive director of the National Lawyers Guild. Her most recent book is I Have Nothing to Hide, And 20 Other Myths About Surveillance and Privacy. Andy Lee Roth is Associate Director of Project Censored, co-editor of the Project's annual volume of censored stories, and co-coordinator of the Project's Campus Affiliates Program. He has published widely on media issues, including most recently, The Deadly Business of Reporting Truth. Clayton Weimers directs the Washington DC bureau office of Reporters Without Borders, an international institution which works to protect journalists around the world; it also publishes the annual "Press Freedom Index" ranking of countries around the world on press freedom issues. Episode 185 is with the amazing Nita Whitaker. Acclaimed singer Nita Whitaker (her resume includes singing the original demos for Whitney Houston) and her father, Green, share their true story in the new memoir, When Your Hand is in the Lion's Mouth: The Life and Wisdom of a Man . This is so timely - especially as dated history creeps back into our lives. Her father uniquely shaped her through his daily guidance in a place, situation and time that would be complex for many. Growing up in the Jim Crow south, her father could only hope that progress would be made, living a life leaning into his optimism as fuel for his future family. He gave her the tools to change how she saw, reacted and processed the world around her. We'd love to share some of their insights with you:· When facing hurdles, her father would tell your kids (and yourself) to be accountable, "giving it your all, whether it's 2 or 2,000" people watching.· Today family foundations, like the importance of kids having a true sense of self, can give strength in the midst of circumstance and are vital in uncertain times. · Civil rights are something that he saw change a country, change lives, change his life, change his daughter's life. 96 years is a long time to have a snapshot of our country!· Giving a truthful reality in a way that enlightens and shows room for potential over painHer and her father are available for an interview, should you be interested. We'd love to work together or find a project you have in the works she could contribute to. Thank you in advance for your time. After Warwick left the series, singers Andy Gibb and Marilyn McCoo were brought in as co-hosts and puppeteer Wayland Flowers joined the series as a secondary comedic act with his puppet Madame. Gibb left Solid Gold in 1982 and Rex Smith replaced him, but he too would leave after one season. Following a season where McCoo hosted by herself, she left in 1984 and Rick Dees of the Weekly Top 40 radio show was hired. At the midway point of the 1984–85 season, Dees left Solid Gold and a series of guests were used in the interim. 1 Corinthians 13:1-4 One of the best-known chapters in the Bible, even to unbelievers, 1 Corinthians 13 seems uplifting and positive. Pastor Rod Bunton explains why Paul inserts this passage where he did and why the real message being taught is challenging when we hold it up to our lives. And aaaaaaa iaaa... I will always love you”. Crédits : Générique : Dr Alban "Sing Hallelujah". Titres écoutés dans l'émission : Whitney Houston “I Will Always Love You”, “I Have Nothing”, “I'm Every Woman”, “Run to You”, “Queen Of The Night”, “Jesus Loves Me”. “How will I know”, “I wanna dance with somebody (who loves me)”. Mayyada Bselees “I Will Always Love You”, Chaka Khan “I’m every woman”, Jimmy Ruffin “What becomes of the brokenhearted”, Linda Ronstadt “I Will Always Love You” Extraits : “Whitney(Kevin McDonald, 2018)” Chaque mois dans Radio K7 on vous raconte l'histoire d'un disque culte qui a marqué nos années 90s. Fashion Meets Faith with Shari Braendel “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” -Psalms 37:23 NLT Shari Braendel is president of Fashion Meets Faith and author of Help Me, Jesus! I have Nothing To Wear (Zondervan). As president of FMF, Shari has helped thousands of women reveal who they are in Christ and shine outwardly with confidence through her conferences, online instructional videos, podcasts, consultant training, and more. As a Christian speaker, she has presented over 500 events in 18 states, including Hearts at Home, She Laughs, and She Speaks and has shared the stage with Nicole C. Mullin, Lysa TerKeurst, and Karen Kingsbury. She has appeared on Focus on the Family, The Total Christian Television Network (TCT), K-Love, Crown Financial Network, Moody Global Ministries, and more. Shari saw firsthand that women didn't recognize the beauty that God gave them and lacked the knowledge of how to dress themselves with confidence. She knows women often judge themselves based on the world's standards and are forever coming up short. As a fabulously fun fashionista, Shari takes women on a trip through the fashion DO's, explaining why it's important to dress the body they have, not the one so prominently displayed on the cover of the latest fashion magazine. With electric and exciting stage presence, Shari delivers a message that women no longer need to conform to the pattern of the world, but can be confident and self-assured no matter their size or shape. Gospel Scripture: (all NIV) Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:24 “and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:25 (a) “God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.” Hebrews 9:22 (b) “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:11 “Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.” John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Romans 10:9 “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Luke 15:10 says “In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Romans 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” Ephesians 1:13–14 “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession- to the praise of his glory.” Ephesians 1:15–23 “For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.” Ephesians 2:8–10 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God‘s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.“ Ephesians 2:13 “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.“ Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

This week is a little different. We start out with some news that's going on in the industry and then go into a quick game of Song Association. Dad finishes out the episode talking about Your Love by The Outfield. We mention I Feel Fine by The Beatles, and I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thegoodmusicexperience/support
This week's episode features Sandra - a singer, writer, and bibliophile from London. In many ways, this podcast recording is about her story, talent and extraordinary level of resilience as she reflects on adverse childhood experiences, the stigma of abuse, as well as her relationship to the world and people in general. She deliberates on what it means to reach a level of confidence and authenticity, the act of triumph that can be achieved through coming out but also how difficult the journey to finding oneself can be. There are thoughts on the concept of freedom, what it means to be safe, the importance of music and the power of remembering...This week's episode comes with a trigger warning as it contains graphic descriptions of child sexual abuse (skip 6:45-8:33 if affected).Things mentioned in this episode:Randy Crawford 'Don't Wanna be Normal'; Whitney Houston 'I Have Nothing'; Nina Simone 'I Wish I Knew (How it Would Feel To Be Free)'

She's since embarked on an acclaimed solo career, is one-third of the folk supergroup I'm With Her — and also plays in the Watkins Family Hour with her brother, Sean (who is also in Nickel Creek, as is Chris Thile, now the host of NPR's "Live From Here"). Give it a read here.As mentioned during First Four, "The Bodyguard" film soundtrack was absolutely massive. It won the Grammy Award in 1993 for Album of the Year, is still the bestselling album by a female singer and sold more than 45 million copies worldwide, thanks in no small part to Whitney Houston's chart-topping Dolly Parton cover, "I Will Always Love You." You heard Sara belt out another single from the album, "I Have Nothing," on the pod — so here's the real thing's official video.Didn't realize Stone Temple Pilots got their start in San Diego? On Sunday, 41-year-old Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna "Gigi" Bryant, and seven other people passed away in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. May GOD rest their souls! We paid homage to him. Fans of Kobe are also finding different ways to memorialize the late icon. Over 1 million people have begun to sign a petition to make Kobe the new NBA logo. As of press time, more than 1.5 million individuals have signed the Change.org petition. The current goal is to get 3 million signatures, so the petition is halfway to reaching its objective. Presently, the NBA's logo includes a silhouette of fellow Lakers legend and the team's former general manager Jerry West who ironically drafted a 17-year old Kobe Bryant in 1996. I think this is only right! Unfortunately, in related news, an animated sitcom on the Comedy Central Network 3 years ago called Legends of Chamberlain Heights was predicted. The show - which aired in 2016 - depicted Kobe going down in a helicopter crash. A distressed Kobe is seen crawling out of the helicopter, and the character says to Kobe - "pass us the trophies, and we'll help you." Kobe refuses, and the helicopter explodes. The early reports of the crash are surprisingly similar. This is strange!! On a positive note, as people are still coming to grips with the sudden and untimely deaths the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the University of Connecticut will honor them in the wake of tragedy. It was announced back in December that Bryant was one of the 2020 Hall of Fame nominees. Now Kobe has been confirmed as a first-ballot enshrinement to be inducted. The ceremony will be held in August in Springfield, Mass. This is only right!! Taraji P. Henson could be set to channel late diva Whitney Houston on the big screen if the singer’s sister-in-law Pat gets her way. Pat is working closely with record executive Clive Davis, who played a key role in the "I Have Nothing" star’s rise to success, on the upcoming project. Whitney passed away at the age of 48 after she was found unconscious in a bathtub on February 11th, 2012. I can see this. The 'Illastr8 HOT TAKE' this week was, "what are some ‘red flags’ to look for when a loved one is in trouble or having issues?" Let us know what you think about this and tune in next week!

The world has been in awe of Whitney Houston and Robin Williams for years. Well, the reprisal of “A Whole New World” by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle is nothing to scoff at either, and if that’s not terrific enough for ya, Armand Assante and Antonio Banderas might be at their thespian bests while singing the nominee from The Mambo Kings. If you think we won’t heckle these great songs in their movie scenes or 90s music videos, think again. Cliches abound, Kevin Costner’s bodyguard, and cartoons make us laugh. This halfisode is another fun critical foray into the world of music, and once more, we’re glad to have the chance to review it. Like these episodes? We’ve already released a few, and since they’re too much fun to record, we probably won’t stop anytime soon. It’s the Oscar Off-Season after all. Also don’t forget to check out our catalog of other Oscar episodes as we’ve reviewed all the major nominees from the 2017-18 award season to cover the recent award show, we’ve already previewed next year’s show, and of course, we’ve also done several retrospectives to mine some entertainment from Oscar history. The Mikes of Oscar also break from our awards coverage from time to time. We reviewed the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe in an 10-episode arc, including a two part review of Black Panther, six 3-film review pods to cover Kevin Feige’s 18 films leading up to this spring, an entire episode dedicated to the new Avengers: Infinity War, and then a ranking episode where we each countdown from 19 to our no. 1 movie. We’ll cover Netflix in year in review and quarterly review episodes, we’ll preview the upcoming theatrical releases every few months & then review the biggest hits that we consider movie events, and we’ll also keep you up to date on Hollywood News with our HHT (Hollywood Hot Take) series. Feel free to chat with us on social media. We’re on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, and Gmail. Then there’s Mikemikeandoscar.com, which is in the pipeline, and we should launch it this summer. (You might want to grab a tissue!) In today’s conversation, Shari answers questions like: What are the rules for when the mother-of-the-bride and mother-of-the-groom decide to pick their dresses? What kind of dress is best for your body types? When it comes to making decisions about the wedding, who should get first choice? How can you navigate hurt feelings and difficult moments while planning the wedding with the other side of the family? How can a mother-of-the-bride or mother-of-the-groom prepare her heart for the emotional “letting go” on the wedding day? For the rest of us, Shari talks us through the different types of weddings and how we can dress appropriately for each type. There’s so much practical advice and heart-talk that you might want to grab a tissue or two before you listen. If you’ve got wedding fashion questions or questions of the heart, Shari would love to answer them. Leave them on the blog page of this podcast! In this day of texts, emails, and instant messages, what place does the handwritten letter have? According to today's guest, author, teacher, speaker, rabbi, and chaplain Elana Zaiman, they're as special as ever, because of their uniqueness in today's immediate gratification, electronic world. “Forever Letters are the perfect containers for our most precious nonmaterial possessions — our beliefs, wisdom, love, gratitude, forgiveness, and more,” says Zaiman. “They are tangible, lasting gifts to be treasured and re-read, especially at those times when we are low, seek guidance, or want to hear the voice of a distant friend, or someone no longer with us.” In her new book The Forever Letter, published by Llewellyn Worldwide, Zaiman makes the case for sitting down with pen and paper to reflect and impart our deepest thoughts to those we love. And with all the dissension going on in our country, what better time to let people know how much you care about them and how important they are to you. Her engaging book helps reluctant Forever Letter writers over the common hurdles — “I'm Not a Writer,” “I Have Nothing to Say,” “I'll Get to It Eventually” — and into the writing process through prompts, guidelines, sample Forever Letters, and motivational stories from those around the U.S. and Canada who've taken her workshops. Elana Zaiman is a workshop facilitator. She's a chaplain at The Summit at First Hill, a retirement community in Seattle; a certified Wise Aging instructor (IJS), and Adjunct Faculty at Seattle's Harborview Hospital CPE Program. Violet Haze is a passionate 24 year old unsigned singer-songwriter from Wayne, NJ, with her bachelor’s and master’s degree in music (teaching/voice), who is now focusing on her own music. Growing up singing mostly jazz and appearing on Broadway, Violet decided to pursue her passion by going to school to study music. She then tried out for Juilliard in Manhattan schools, and fell in love with opera, which she studied for the next four years. Haze then toured with various artists all around the world as well as across the U.S., including Carnegie Hall. Growing up as an only child, Violet’s mother, Sandy has been nurturing and supportive of her musical career. Music has always comforted her; when she would cry as a toddler, music would quickly calm her. In school, she instantly learned the words to the nursery rhymes and would enjoy singing them. Her mother exposed her to a wide array of musical genres, which proved to broaden her background and provide her with an appreciation for all types of music. During middle school and high school, (grades 6 and 9), Haze decided to try cycle classes including art, home economics, computers etc.., but quickly felt a void in her life without music. The following years, she elected to take chorus and felt fulfilled. Besides her mother, Haze was also influenced by musical superstar, Whitney Houston. At the time, Haze was listening to her song, “I Have Nothing” and learning how to power-belt for Broadway and was completely in awe of Houston’s talent. She continued to study Houston’s works and even wrote about her being her hero for a school assignment. With a passion for children and sharing her talents with others, Haze’s mother once again advised her to keep her musical passion, but have a backup plan. It made perfect sense to earn a degree in music education, since she loves doing both. Working on her record, “Ain’t Going Nowhere” with King Bobands from Queens, who is recently co-signed with 50 cent was an unforgettable experience. They actually recorded another record “Together Forever”, the same night since things went so well! “ Haze explained how her songs are inspired from the events that are occurring in her life at the time. She is a team player, who enjoys collaborating and learning from other artists. As a part of the non-profit organization, Sounds of Tomorrow, partners with express Newark and about to partner with Rutgers University, which is a hub for all young artists to make their dreams come alive; from singing, choreographing, film editing etc… Education and assistance will be provided to instill the positive influences and values to support whatever original artistic piece they may be working on. Haze is passionate about encouraging unique works and helping young artists achieve their dreams. SQR Podcast enjoyed listening to exclusive acapella clips as we travelled back in time with Violet Haze through her musical journey. Be sure to follow Violetxhazemusic for amazing new works.
선곡표 미션 the mission - gabriel's oboe 라이언 lion - never give up 봄날은 간다 -one fine spring day (main theme) 광식이 동생 광태 - 세월이 가면 올드보이 - The last waltz 청연 - 말리꽃 보디가드- I Have Nothing 나자리노 - when a child is born 어느날 - 어느날
Ladies, let’s admit that we have an awkward relationship with beauty. I actually have another phrase that I use…we have an ugly struggle with beauty. This is such a shame because Psalm 45:11 tells us that God is enthralled with our beauty. Unfortunately, we are not so enthralled with our beauty. How often do we criticize, complain or cry about how we look in our clothes? Furthermore, how many of us feel guilty, even less spiritual because we do care about how we look? We’re in for a treat today because my friend, Shari Braendel comes to our rescue!
