This week, Hackaday's Elliot Williams and Kristina Panos met up over coffee to bring you the latest news, mystery sound results show, and of course, a big bunch of hacks from the previous seven days or so. We found no news to speak of, except that Kristina has ditched Windows after roughly 38 years. What is she running now? What does she miss about Windows? Tune in to find out. On What's That Sound, Kristina thought it was a jackhammer, but [Statistically Unlikely] knew it was ground-tamper thingy, and won a Hackaday Podcast t-shirt! Congratulations! After that, it's on to the hacks and such, beginning with 3D printing on the nano scale, and a couple of typewriter-based hacks. Then we take a look at the beauty of the math behind graph theory, especially when it comes to circuit sculptures and neckties. We also talk display hacking, macro pads with haptic feedback knobs, and writing code in Welsh. Finally, we discuss the Virtual Boy, and ponder whether vibe coding is killing open source. Check out the links on Hackaday if you want to follow along, and as always, tell us what you think about this episode in the comments!
In this episode of the Previously On TV Podcast, fangirl Jillian and her husband Tyler recap School Spirits Season 3, Episode 4, “The Bereftest Club”, a detention-day episode that's basically a haunted, lore-stuffed riff on The Breakfast Club (except the principal has no idea these kids would love being locked in the school). We break down everything that happens across both the living and the dead - Simon nearly gets pulled into the Hell hole (until Wally saves him), Maddie's life spirals as her mom leaves for treatment, and the “detention crew” is juggling panic, research, and cover-ups while Principal Hartman is distracted by the new superintendent Dr. Hunter-Price. Meanwhile, the ghosts uncover a hymnbook from the church in the hell hole, Mr. Martin and Quinn get high and we get a full musical dance sequence, and the episode ends with Simon getting grabbed by a creature called White Eyes. Then we get into why the vibe is full horror this season and bringing major Stephen King vibes (even the addition of Jennifer Tilly is adding to the scream queen tone). Plus the surprisingly emotional character beats: Maddie feeling isolated, Xavier stepping up, and Simon and Wally's bond deepening. And because this episode DROPS. SO. MUCH. INFO… we count down our Top 5 Lore Drops, including: Yuri's scar and how to stop resets, the “Cornerstone” stone tape theory, the church tragedy under the school, and the biggest reveal of all - The Forgotten and White Eyes. Finally, we go full conspiracy board with theories: Is White Eyes someone we know? Who exactly are The Forgotten? Is Mr. Martin's past tied to the original church tragedy? What does Dr. Hunter-Price know (and why the surveillance feels… ominous)? Plus: do objects brought into scars hint at a loophole or portal situation?Stone Tape theory: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_Tape_theory00:00:00 Musical dance sequence00:02:30 Intro to podcast00:04:42 Recap of "The Bereftest Club"00:07:38 Review of ep 400:17:25 Top 5 Lore Drops00:17:51 Yuri's scar and preventing resets00:24:32 Nurse and Maddie's dad00:29:36 Mr. South and Stone Tape theory00:33:34 School built on church graveyard00:39:13 The Forgotten and White Eyes00:43:02 Maddie's visions and dollhouse miniatures00:46:23 Ghost minds vs bodies00:49:01 Video surveillance and Dr. Hunter-Price00:50:51 Theories and predictions00:51:01 Who is White Eyes creature?01:02:27 Who are The Forgotten?01:04:54 Dr. Hunter-Price motives01:05:55 Maddie's visions01:07:54 Tyler's Takes01:08:42 Calling it "Hell hole"01:08:59 Simon's podcast01:09:54 Wally's movie suitcase01:10:55 Simon losing watch01:12:11 Quinn is into Rhonda?01:13:08 Miniatures creepy01:13:16 Principal Mr. Hartman01:13:41 Xavier writing essaysCheck out our shot-by-shot comparison of School Spirits and Carrie (1976): https://www.instagram.com/p/DUO1IT5AVnS/School Spirits Season 3 Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Hx7kbgJeiEThank you to Matt Buechele (@mattbooshell) for creating our new theme song. The enemy will always try to stop God's plan. His forces of evil will always try to interrupt God's goodness. Hell will always come against Heaven's objective. However, Hell never wins. Evil will be overcome by good. The enemy is forever defeated by God. Hell may look like it wins a few rounds, but the […]
“Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.” (Matthew 7:20 NLT) Are you a disciple of Jesus Christ? Not every Christian necessarily is. Some people go no further than making a decision to accept Christ as Savior. They treat their Christian faith as an eternal life insurance policy or a “Get out of Hell free” card. They will take a few steps in their walk with Christ, but only if the path is smooth or the route is pleasant. In their reluctance to commit wholeheartedly, however, they don’t get to experience the transformative power of discipleship. When you submit to becoming a disciple of Christ—to live as He lived, to love as He loved, and to prioritize what He prioritized—you will see things happen in your life that are unimaginable otherwise. And you won’t be the only one who sees those things happening in your life. A disciple of Jesus Christ will bring forth spiritual fruit. Jesus said, “When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father” (John 15:8 NLT). He also said, “Just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions” (Matthew 7:20 NLT). If you’re a disciple of Jesus Christ, people will be able to tell based on the spiritual fruit they see in your life. In the parable of the sower, Jesus talks about seeds falling on different kinds of ground. Each type of ground represents a different reaction to the gospel. The final type represents people who bring forth fruit after hearing the gospel. “And the seed that fell on good soil represents those who hear and accept God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!” (Mark 4:20 NLT). Those who last as disciples spiritually embrace this truth and produce spiritual fruit. Spiritual fruit makes itself known in a variety of ways. The author of Hebrews says, “Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name” (13:15 NIV). Praising God is a way of producing spiritual fruit. What we say is also evidence of the spiritual fruit in our lives. Jesus said, “A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart” (Luke 6:45 NLT). Our change in conduct and character is also a type of spiritual fruit. Galatians 5:22–23 tells us, “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” (NLT). Can people see these traits in your life? A Christian’s life should be characterized by these things. Are you bringing forth spiritual fruit? Reflection question: What spiritual fruit do you want people to see in your life? Synopsis Send Help stars Rachel McAdams as a frumpy but invaluable office worker over looked for promotion by her asshole entitled boss played by Dylan Obrien When she is invited on a sausage fest work trip, the plane crashes and she and her boss are the only survivors on a tropical island She quickly demonstrates her survival knowledge and the power dynamic between her and her boss shifts. Review of Send Help Send Help has been described as a mix between Misery and Cast Away. I'll agree with that and add that it's also a poor man's version of The Triangle of Sadness. Any way you compare it, this is a crowd pleaser. Sam Raimi returns to the horror genre for the first time since Drag Me to Hell. Though this is more on the thriller side of horror, he brings out a lot of the playful and over the top blood and gore that we are used to. Rachel McAdams largely carries the film with her charisma and screen presence. I'll admit, she's largely the reason for me being excited about seeing the film. Dylan O'brien is serviceable, and properly over the top in portraying an entitled asshole. The script by Damian Shannon and Mark Shift is simple, yet plays with the audience's expectations. It is better than I would expect from the guys that worked together before on the Baywatch Movie, Freddy Vs. Jason, and 2009's Friday the 13th reboot. The character development feels a little undercooked, but is there enough to make their motivations understood. This felt like a movie straight out of the 90's/early 2000s. This brand of mid-budget thriller was a dime a dozen back then, and for some reason has fallen by the wayside. I'm hoping that this film, along with films like The Housemaid will start a resurgence in mid budget date night thrillers. Also something I haven't seen since the 90s/early 2000s is this quality of CGI. It wasn't completely terrible, but is was distracting how overused it was. Many shots of the island and it's design felt like I was looking at an obviously designed video game island (X mountains and all). Also, after seeing PRimate successfully pull of great practical effects with a monkey suit, I wondered why they didn't use a puppet for the boar. They could have achieved the same level of boar gore, but make it less cartoony. The film doesn't plumb the depths of the human psyche or explore every facet of the power dynamics in a survival situation, it prefers to keep it pretty surface level in service of moving quickly with the plot. And in my opinion, it works. I had a really good time, and laughed out loud several times at the humor as well as the exploitative gore that Raimi is the expert at bringing. Score 8/10
It's Wednesday, February 4th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Colombian president denies divinity of Jesus Christ Christians across Colombia recoiled at recent remarks made by President Gustavo Petro. The nation's leader denied that Jesus is Christ, describing Him instead as a “man of light, of truth and a revolutionary.” This public attack on Biblical truth comes as Christians continue to face persecution and physical attacks in the country. Criminal organizations have killed at least 10 pastors in Colombia over the last year. Sadly, the government provides little protection for church leaders. Psalm 2:11-12 warns rulers, “Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.” U.S. forces shoot down Iranian drone over Arabian Sea A U.S. fighter jet shot down an Iranian drone as it approached a U.S. aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea on February 3rd, the U.S. Central Command has announced, reports The Epoch Times. The incident comes at a moment of heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran. President Donald Trump recently ordered naval forces to the Middle East and has threatened military strikes on Iran if it does not agree to new limits on its nuclear development. The U.S. Central Command, which oversees U.S. military operations in the Middle East, said the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln was operating about 500 miles from Iran's southern coast on Tuesday, when U.S. forces spotted what they identified as an Iranian Shahed-139 drone. When the Iranian drone “unnecessarily maneuvered toward” the aircraft carrier, the U.S. Central Command said U.S. forces issued de-escalatory instructions, but the drone continued on its path toward the aircraft carrier. That's when an F-35C Lighting II stealth fighter jet, assigned to the aircraft carrier, intervened and shot down the drone. Thankfully, no American service members were harmed during the incident, and no U.S. equipment was damaged. Conservative candidate wins presidency of Costa Rica Meanwhile in Central America, conservative candidate Laura Fernández Delgado won Costa Rica's presidential election on Sunday. She gave thanks to God following the election victory. Life News reports that Fernández emphasized moral values and the protection of unborn babies during her campaign. She stated, “Defending the lives of Costa Ricans who have not yet been born is an obligation of the State. Abortion is nothing more than murder and, therefore, penalties must be toughened.” Christian groups looking to overturn homosexual marriage In the United States, a coalition of conservative groups launched a campaign last month to overturn Obergefell. The infamous Supreme Court ruling from 2015 legalized faux homosexual marriage. The campaign, known as the Greater Than movement, calls for protecting children from being put in the middle of such unbiblical relations. Listen to comments from Dr. Albert Mohler, president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. MOHLER: “Marriage is actually the most basic institution of human civilization. You redefine marriage, you have just destroyed the house. You can put together a new house and claim it's the same. Children will know the difference. It harms children in virtually every way imaginable.” De-transitioner awarded $2 million The Epoch Times reports a New York jury found a psychologist and plastic surgeon liable for malpractice in a transgender case last week. The doctors supported and performed a double mastectomy on a 16-year-old girl who claimed to be a boy. Fox Varian is 22 now and no longer pretends to be a boy. She was awarded two million dollars in the case. Varian is the first de-transitioner to win such a malpractice lawsuit. Nearly 30 more de-transitioner lawsuits are in process across America. Trump stands with pharmacies for not carrying Abortion Kill Pills The Trump administration is protecting pharmacies from having to carry abortion kill pills. Under the Biden administration, the Department of Health and Human Services required pharmacies serving Medicare or Medicaid patients to carry abortion drugs. The department rescinded that mandate last week. This is part of the government's policy to “end the forced use of Federal taxpayer dollars to fund or promote elective abortion.” Red states are growing and blue states are shrinking The U.S. Census Bureau released its latest Population and Housing Unit Estimates last week. Red states, like Texas, are growing, while blue states, like California, are shrinking. Based on this, the American Redistricting Project released its 2030 Apportionment Forecast of how these demographic trends will affect Congress. Texas and Florida could gain a combined eight congressional seats. Meanwhile, California and New York could lose six seats. 83% of U.S. adults believe in God; 25% attend weekly religious service Pew Research released new analysis of Americans' religious beliefs and practices. The analysis shared the data as if the U.S. population were scaled down to 100 people. In that case, 83 people would believe in God or a universal spirit. Fifty-two would believe in Heaven and Hell. Forty-four would pray daily. Thirty-eight would say religion is very important in their lives. And only 25 would say they attend religious services at least weekly. Romans 11:5 reminds us, “Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.” U.S. life expectancy rose to 79 And finally, U.S. life expectancy rose to a record 79 years in 2024. This according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Life expectancy at birth for women rose to 81, and for men it rose to 76. Meanwhile, the age-adjusted death rate decreased nearly four percent from 2023. The increased life expectancy comes after improvements following the COVID-19 pandemic as well as declines in overdose deaths. What does it actually mean to be wild in the modern world—and why does it matter so much for our health, identity, and sense of belonging? In this episode, I explore those questions and more with Daniel Vitalis, host of the TV series WildFed and a lifelong advocate for reconnecting with nature through food, place, and embodied experience. We dive deep into what wildness really is—not as a romantic ideal, but as a lived, practical relationship with the natural world. Daniel shares how wild foods offer more than just nutrition; they provide feedback, resilience, and a kind of intelligence that modern systems have largely stripped away. We talk about how convenience culture has distanced us from our instincts, our land base, and even our own hunger cues, and why reclaiming these relationships is essential for both personal and ecological health. This conversation also weaves through nervous system regulation, ancestral skills, and the quiet confidence that comes from direct experience—whether that's foraging, hunting, or simply learning to trust your own perception again. Daniel reflects on the responsibility that comes with sourcing food from the wild, the ethics of reciprocity, and how participation in nature changes the way we see ourselves as humans. If you've felt a pull toward something more grounded, more honest, and more alive—this episode is an invitation to listen to that signal. It's a reminder that wildness isn't something we've lost; it's something we can remember, one relationship at a time.Visit lukestorey.com/surthrival and use code LUKE to save 10%.DISCLAIMER: This podcast is for educational purposes only and not intended for diagnosing or treating illnesses. Matt Frey spent seven years working as a therapist inside Rikers Island from 2011 to 2018, a job he never imagined taking growing up in the suburbs of New York. In this episode, Matt gives a rare inside look at day-to-day life at Rikers from the inmate perspective, breaking down what really happens in both General Population and Mental Observation housing. He shares firsthand experiences with extreme violence, inmate suicides, unprovoked attacks on staff, and the psychological toll of working inside one of America's most notorious jail systems. Matt also explains how inmates sometimes manipulate mental health services for protection or legal advantage, what it's like hearing confessions protected by confidentiality, and the surreal reality of assessing people just hours after seeing their alleged crimes on the news. Now running his own psychotherapy practice after leaving Rikers, Matt reflects on boundaries, trauma, and how working inside the jail changed him forever. _____________________________________________ #RikersIsland #PrisonStories #TrueCrimePodcast #JusticeSystem #PrisonLife #MentalHealthInPrison #LifeBehindBars #lockedin _____________________________________________ Thank you to AVA for sponsoring this episode: Take control of your credit today. Chloe Tucker Caine joins the show to discuss her fascinating transition from a national tour leading lady to a high stakes real estate powerhouse on Netflix's Owning Manhattan. She shares the vulnerable reality of arriving in New York expecting a parade only to find herself bartending and eventually running an "illegal" Airbnb business out of her Hell's Kitchen apartment. Chloe opens up about the secret life she led while establishing her real estate career, including sneaking off to vocal lessons and dance classes between property showings because she feared being dismissed as just another "annoying theater kid". The conversation dives deep into the creation of her viral "property musicals," a niche that blends her performance background with luxury sales to help move quirky listings that had previously sat on the market for years. Chloe reflects on the lessons learned from being cut on the first night of an MTV reality show and how motherhood has shifted her professional perspective from wanting to be a "shark" to simply being her authentic self. From recording her single "Fly High" for her daughter to her dreams of playing Velma Kelly in Chicago, Chloe proves that you don't have to close the door on your passions to find massive success in a new field. Chloe Tucker Caine is a multifaceted performer and real estate agent who starred as Sophie in the national tour of Mamma Mia!. She is a central cast member on the Netflix series Owning Manhattan and a top agent at the SERHANT. brokerage. In addition to her real estate success, she is the creator of the digital series Chloe in Manhattan and recently released the single "Fly High" This episode is powered by WelcomeToTimesSquare.com, the billboard where you can be a star for a day. Of course codewords are found in the Epstein Library on the DOJ website, as are news articles and all other bits of information found to be relevant to official investigations. But codewords about hotdogs, pizza, and ice cream do not prove “pizza gate” to be a real conspiracy, since the base of said theory is factually untrue. Interestingly, there is one document which notes how “pizza gate” was employed to discredit victims of human trafficking and sex slavery and to undermine the reality of “spirit cooking.” The use of words like “goyim” or “goyum” are found in approximately 50 searches in the DOJ archive, yet nearly all are part of the same chain of documents and most are found in news articles. They are not commonly employed by Epstein or anyone else in the files, with exception to Peggy Siegal. Peggy apparently didn't bother using code, asking in one email if someone desired a baby boy or girl. Another document details the Great Work of alchemy, a coven, pints of Mormon blood, and a fertility ritual. In another, one victim says they were raped by numerous presidents and witnessed a baby (babies) being killed, torn apart, and eaten on a yacht. They also witnessed blacks being forced to have sex with blonde girls who were being beaten until bloody. These are just a few of the details which reinforce the stereotypes and the historical accusations against Jewish elites. The kidnapping of children, the draining of their blood, the cannibalism, the running of interracialpornography, etc, and, as reported by the above witness, the eating a feces. If a child is the greatest gift from God and cleanliness is next to godliness, then the sacrifice of that child, and filth, is the greatest insult to God, and the closest thing to evil.*The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. We don't build the Kingdom Of God We announce it We seek it We recieve it We bear witness to it We build for it What does it mean to truly seek the Kingdom of God? In this episode, the Voxology team explores the profound and practical implications of living in light of Jesus' Kingdom. From understanding the communal and political nature of the Kingdom to discussing themes like cruciformity, justice, and the role of the church in society, this episode unpacks how faith intersects with cultural challenges and societal structures. Join the conversation as the hosts examine how Jesus' teachings call us to embody a countercultural way of life, rejecting the power of coercion in favor of love, reconciliation, and abundance. Through thoughtful dialogue and personal reflections—like navigating issues of homelessness and the dignity of every human being—they challenge us to see the Kingdom as an expansive, inclusive, and tangible reality breaking into the world today. How does the church bear witness to this Kingdom? What does "faith and politics" look like lived out? And how do we faithfully resist passivity while embracing Jesus' call to justice and peace? These are just a few of the questions tackled in this engaging and thought-provoking episode. We encourage and would love discussion as we pursue these questions together! Share your thoughts and connect with us on Facebook and Instagram. Let's continue to navigate these important conversations about Christianity, theology, and the transformative power of Jesus' Kingdom in our world today. Every Sunday at Mass we pray the Nicene Creed. But do we "pray" it or do we only "say" it? Join Fr. Chris Alar as he explains the meaning of what we profess in our faith by looking at each sentence. For example, why doesn't the Creed mention Jesus descent into Hell but the Apostles' Creed does? When we profess that we believe in "one, holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church" do we mean the Roman Catholic Church? Actually not. This and many other insights await you in this video.
Where do we go from here?Where are the leaders? Why does it feel like no one is doing anything? In this solo episode of The Outdoor Minimalist Podcast, we work to dismantle one of the most persistent myths about resistance: that it only looks one way — loud, visible, risky, and centered on a single kind of leader.Drawing on history, journalism, and movement research, this episode explores why successful resistance movements don't rely on heroes or front lines alone. They rely on ecosystems. Networks of people taking on different roles at different times, based on capacity, skill, and sustainability.Meg situates this conversation specifically within outdoor spaces and the outdoor industry, where leadership and power have historically been framed through a narrow, often white lens. By examining who has always been forced to resist, and who has often had the privilege not to, this episode challenges listeners to reconsider where leadership already exists, and what real allyship actually requires.Meg unpacks why neutrality can be dangerous, how “malignant normality” takes hold, and why resistance must include collective care if it's going to last. Finally, this episode offers a framework for understanding the many roles that show up in movements that actually work, including:- Frontlines- Organizers - Caregivers - Storytellers- Educators- Builders- SupportersAnd invites listeners to identify where they can contribute honestly and sustainably.Because resistance isn't a sprint. It's not even a marathon. It's a relay, and everyone has a role.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/outdoor.minimalist.book/Website: https://www.theoutdoorminimalist.com/Buy Me a Coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/outdoorminimalistListener Survey: https://forms.gle/jd8UCN2LL3AQst976Recommended Books on Resistance & Social Movements- Erica Chenoweth & Maria J. THE PROPHET ISAIAH lived through turbulent times, with kings of Judah who ranged from the good (Hezekiah, Jotham. Uzziah) to the evil (Ahaz, Manasseh, Amon). In Isaiah 7, the prophet is sent to Ahaz by God with a word about the invasion of his land by the combined forces of Syria and the northern kingdom of Israel. This was despite the fact that Ahaz “made offerings in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom and burned his sons as an offering” (2 Chr. 28:3, ESV), a reference to the sacrifice of children to Molech. God gave Ahaz a sign, an already-but-not-yet prophecy: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. He shall eat curds and honey when he knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good. For before the boy knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you dread will be deserted. (Isa. 7:14–16, ESV)This was a promise that Judah would not be conquered by his northern neighbors, but it was also a promise that a virgin in the future (Mary) would give birth to “God with us”—the meaning of the name Immanuel. Kirk Cameron recently created great controversy when he announced that he believed in annihilationism -- that souls damned to hell would not exist eternally. He's not the only one to question the traditional belief of hell being eternal, conscious suffering. Message by Chris Brown on January 31, 2026. If we really believe that Jesus was the Son of God and was teaching the truth, then we have to examine what He said Christianity is worth. We will also have to answer whether a loving God can really send people to a place like Hell. In 2001, a wealthy American couple moved to Costa Rica to build a multimillion-dollar home and wildlife sanctuary in the rain forest. In their lavish estate patrolled by armed guards, John and Ann Bender found themselves more isolated as the couple dealt with debilitating illness, bipolar disorder, and growing paranoia. When tragedy struck in 2010, authorities were left to wonder whether what happened was an accident, suicide, or murder. What followed was a legal saga which lasted years and grabbed the world's attention. To this day, what happened that night at the Boracayan Estate remains the subject of debate. From Blanchard House, Exactly Right Media, and iHeartPodcasts comes “Hell in Heaven: A Mysterious Death in Paradise.” Host Becky Milligan traces John and Ann Bender's lives in the Costa Rican jungle and seeks the truth about what happened in the couple's opulent rain forest estate. The eight-part series explores how cultural differences, personal demons, and the estranging influence of the wild contributed to the tragedy.OUR SPOILER-FREE REVIEWS OF "HELL IN HEAVEN" IN THE FINAL 12 MINUTES OF THE EPISODE.
